TIMING: Springtime / Early April / Pre-Ireland LOCATION: Anita's House PARTIES:  Anita (@gossipsnake) & Felix (@recoveringdreamer) CONTENT: Animal Abuse (implied) SUMMARY: Anita shoved the bunny in Felix’s face, “Tell it that it is a plague upon my house.”
When your friend messaged you regarding an ‘urgent problem’ in a town like Wicked’s Rest, you tended to come pretty quickly. Felix practically ran all the way to Anita’s house. (Well, okay, they drove. But they ran to and from the truck! And they drove fast!) They weren’t sure what they were expecting upon arrival. Given the recent changes around town, they figured it could be anything. Shrimp cult members or evil sentient mushrooms or…
Bunnies?
Felix slowed their pace as they approached Anita where she stood in the garden, brow furrowed in quiet confusion. There were a lot of bunnies. A substantial amount of bunnies, really. It was, arguably, too many bunnies. But… they were still bunnies. Felix blinked, looking to their friend with a curious tilt of their head. “Um, hey Anita. What, uh… What was so urgent?”
The changes of seasons in Wickeds Rest usually just meant that there were new and unexpected things around the corner, all of which were not exactly good things. At first, Anita was kind of entertained by the influx of interesting and strange flowers that were growing around town. Some strange seeds had even managed to begin blooming in her own backyard. It was interesting to observe initially, to see how the native plants interacted with their supernatural counterparts. With strange plants, however, came other oddities.
Normally, Anita was in favor of a bit of chaos. But things were getting out of hand… and fast. After all, you know what they say about how rapidly rabbits multiply. They seemed drawn to the strange plants, eating them up very quickly. She had expected that they would all move on once they ate all of the strange plants. Instead, the rabbits seemed to evolve. Some got bigger, some got more… purple? Others got ravenous, it seemed.
First they started going for her garden plants, so Anita set up ethical rabbit deterrents by way of some temporary mesh fencing. The next morning she was shocked to discover that the damned things had chewed straight through the metal. Over the next few days, they managed to eat their way through every deterrent that she had put up. And no matter how many of them she ate… there were always more. They had not only begun to overrun her yard but they had driven her to a level of anger and frustration she could never have expected.  Metzli told her that she was overreacting, so Anita texted Felix, hoping that they could help her win this war once and for all.
As they approached, Anita waved her arms around at the hoard of rabbits surrounding her and scattered throughout her yard. “What is so urgent?! This! These fluffy little fuckers have been sent here to torment me. I don’t know if I pissed off some witch and she has cursed me with rabbits or if the forest has just finally turned on me. You need to help me get rid of them. All of them!”
_
The rabbits were pretty cute. There was no denying it, even if the jaguar spirit in Felix’s chest looked at the gathering as more of a buffet than a petting zoo. But Anita didn’t look particularly endeared to the rabbits, and it wasn’t really hard to see why. Her yard was certainly a mess… and that was just the parts of her yard Felix could actually see around the wriggling balls of multicolored fuzz scattered around. They could only imagine how the garden looked, especially given the fact that the bunnies outside their own apartment building had eaten an entire dumpster and still seemed hungry after.
Felix offered a sheepish smile as Anita pointed out the obvious, bending down to scoop one of the bunnies into their arms absently. “I don’t think they’re here to torment you specifically,” they insisted, stroking the bunny’s ears. The bunny sniffed at their hand momentarily before sinking its teeth into their finger, eliciting a wince that was punctuated by gently setting it back in the grass. It kept hold of their finger until they physically pried it from its jaws, which certainly seemed stronger than those of the average bunny.
“Okay,” they relented, wrapping their finger in the hem of their shirt the staunch the small amount of bleeding. “Maybe the bunnies are a problem. But they’re better than the reindeer! Right?” At least the bunnies, to Felix’s knowledge, weren’t capable of teleportation. “How do you want to get rid of them? I don’t want to hurt them! They’re just little guys, right? Maybe we could put up a sign.” They might respect a no bunnies allowed rule if pushed. It was at least something to try, right?
“No, they are. They are a plague that has been cast upon me!” Anita, ever one for the dramatic flair, didn’t want to acknowledge that this was by all indications a town-wide epidemic. She huffed after looking over and seeing them showing affection to one of her tormentors. By that point a significant number of the furry fiends had congregated around Anita’s feet, some of them nipping at the laces of her boots. “Be gone, tiny devils!” She hissed in Spanish as she tried to shoo them away from her so that she could go scold Felix about being nice to the rabbits.
By the time she managed to get over to where he was, however, the horrid creatures had shown their true colors. “Ay! Yes, there absolutely is a bunny problem! At least the reindeer didn’t seem to multiply at an alarming rate.” It was no surprise that Felix wanted to take a somewhat pacifist approach to eradicating the problem. Anita knew them well enough by now to know that despite what that contract required of them, they were not an inherently violent person.
“A sign?” She gaped, taken aback by how simultaneously simple and ridiculous that plan was. “These evil little cottontails have eaten through metal fences. Even if they could understand a sign, I’m sure they would just eat it and then continue their path of destruction.” Admittedly, unfortunately, Anita did not have any more helpful suggestions. “You don’t want to hurt it, but they clearly have no qualms harming you,” she noted gesturing towards the small bloodstain on the hem of his shirt. “But, fine, if we can come up with a way to chase them off for good that doesn’t involve harming them… I’ll entertain the idea.” Looking around, she tried to see if there was any part of her yard they seemed more drawn to than others. “There has to be something that they don’t like. Something that would send them off to torment someone else.”
“Anita…” Felix tried to keep the amusement from their tone, but it was difficult to do. She was being pretty dramatic about the bunnies — her reaction seemed more akin to something out of their mother’s telenovelas than a genuine response to something happening in real life. Though this all seemed a little far fetched, even for a telenovela. To Felix’s knowledge, none of those had ever shown bunnies to be a dangerous adversary.
Maybe they should have, though. It was hard to deny, as they wrapped their bleeding finger in their shirt, that there was an issue here. But as far as Felix was concerned, the bunnies weren’t at fault here. There must have been something that caused all this and, if Felix had to guess, it was something human. The goo was probably caused by the human mining efforts, the reindeer were probably caused by humans’ tendency to feed wild animals even when they must have known they shouldn’t. The bunnies probably had some human source, too. Maybe they used to be domesticated and had been released into the wild by someone no longer willing to take care of them, like those people who released alligators into the sewers. Either way, the bunnies certainly weren’t to blame. “That’s just what bunnies do, though! It’s a whole, um, a whole thing people say. You know, ‘like bunnies.’” They lowered their voice a little at that, as if worried about the possibility of offending the bunnies in question.
Anita didn’t seem to love the idea of a sign and, Felix had to admit, it was probably a bit of a far-fetched thing. After all, rabbits, to their knowledge, couldn’t read English. They might respect a drawing of a rabbit with a cross through it, though that would need to be tested and Felix wasn’t sure Anita had the patience for it. Deterring them in other ways might be easier. Felix scanned the garden carefully, brows furrowed until… “Hey, it looks like they don’t really like those peppers?”
Logically, because there was part of her brain that did operate on logic, Anita knew that she was overreacting. Had it been someone else she invited over to help her, someone who did more than gently say her name as an indication that she should calm down, she likely would have dug her heels in and become stubborn. Maybe that was why she had called Felix in the first place - subconsciously perhaps she was craving a more docile energy to talk her down. Not that she would dare admit that outloud.
“Yes, yes, I know. Fucking like bunnies. I like fucking as well, you little shits, you don’t see me overpopulating the world with a million rattlesnakes!” Bending down to again try and chase off several of the rabbits who were trying to chew on her shoes, Anita allowed herself to partially shift so that she could emit a fervent rattling noise that did manage to cause the bunnies in their immediate vicinity to scatter off.
“That is my habanero patch.” It made sense that they would avoid that area, their tiny bunny taste buds likely could not handle the spice level. “But I cannot replace my entire garden with habaneros. Maybe we can drizzle a border of hot sauce around the property!” The excitement of the idea faded quickly as logic seeped back in, “No, the stupid things will just jump over the sauce and carry on with their destruction. And we cannot drizzle sauce on the other plants because that will kill them.” Anita reached down and picked up the first rabbit that returned to where they were standing and held it up towards her face, but not close enough that it could try and bite her, “I hate you, you evil rodent. You are a plague upon my house.” She then turned the creatures towards Felix, “Tell it that it is a plague upon my house.”
With an almost panicked bulge to their eyes, Felix glanced to the bunnies as if trying to gauge whether or not they were offended by Anita’s remarks. They didn’t seem to mind but Felix, to be fair, was hardly an expert in deciphering the emotional state of rabbits. Maybe the rabbits were offended. Maybe that offense would spell even worse news for Anita’s garden, which would doubtlessly make Anita lose more and more patience with them. Felix tried to communicate silently to the bunnies that they shouldn’t press their luck. One of them met their eye and munched absently on the grass. Felix sighed.
“Anita,” they protested, flushing a little as she spoke of her attitude towards fucking. “Some of these rabbits are probably babies. You shouldn’t say things like that in front of them.” Her rattle seemed to spook them, but Felix doubted the rabbits would stay away for very long. They seemed far too interested in the garden, with the exception of the pepper plants.
“Maybe we could… make a moat? But instead of water, it would be hot sauce or habanero plants! Maybe the smell of it would turn them away?” There had to be some solution with the spice, didn’t there? If the rabbits were only uninterested in spicy things, there had to be some way to use spicy things to their advantage. They were still trying to come up with a solution when Anita knelt down to pick up a rabbit, holding it out for them to speak to. Felix’s expression softened the moment they laid eyes on the bunny. “I don’t think you’re a plague,” they whispered to the rabbit. “I think you’re a cute little guy. Please stop eating plants.”
Anita sighed, although she was not surprised when her friend refused to call the rabbit names. It wouldn’t solve the problem anyway but it might have made her feel better, even if just for a fleeting second. They were just bunnies after all, would it kill them to say one slightly rude thing about them?  “A hot sauce moat would be unsightly, even if it would solve the problem.” The only potential benefit to it would be the possibility of some bunnies falling into and meeting an unexpectedly fiery doom. But she didn’t share that thought with Felix, she knew they wouldn’t like it. “Besides, people already talk about me for having built this house. They say the style is out of place for this region. Imagine if I added a hot sauce moat? I cannot be a walking stereotype.”
Still holding the furry fiend captive, Anita proceeded towards the habanero patch hoping that proximity would help her come up with an effective solution. “If the peppers are the only thing they avoid, then they have to be the answer.” Getting lost in her brainstorm, she accidentally let the bunny wiggle a bit too close to her hand and it didn’t waste its opportunity to take a bite. Anita immediately dropped the creature and rattled off a string of Spanish curse words as she shook her hand - as if the motion would somehow alleviate the pain.
“That thing. That thing you just called cute,” she reminded Felix. Now, more than ever, she was determined to find a way to rid her life of these menaces. “Okay, if we cannot build a moat. Maybe we can… dispense hot sauce at them some other way.” If they had been in some sort of cartoon that would have been the moment a lightbulb would have appeared over her head as she turned to Felix with a grin, “Sprinklers!”
“It might look kind of cool,” Felix replied, even though it wouldn’t. Moats, in general, weren’t a great landscaping decision. They probably made your property pretty prone to flooding, and Felix wasn’t sure how the moat being filled with hot sauce would affect that kind of thing but they had a feeling it wouldn’t go great. Plus, Anita would need to find a way to navigate around said moat herself, and Felix wasn’t sure how to build a drawbridge. “I think your house is cool,” they replied, a little offended that anyone would suggest otherwise. It was cool that Anita built a home to reflect her heritage. Felix respected her for it immensely. But… she might have had a point about the hot sauce moat.
Felix watched Anita move towards the pepper patch, content to observe her thought process and offer up commentary only when necessary. They winced as the bunny she was holding bit her hand, rubbing their own bunny-related injury absentmindedly. “I don’t know if normal bunnies bite,” they said, though it wasn’t exactly helpful information. They already knew that these bunnies weren’t normal bunnies. Normal bunnies didn’t do things like this.
“It is still cute!” They felt a little defensive of the bunny, in spite of everything. “Look at its ears, come on.” The ears twitched as if in response, and Felix couldn’t help but sigh in the bunny’s direction. Their attention was pulled away only when Anita spoke again, and they turned back towards her, snapping their fingers and pointing excitedly. “Sprinklers!” They repeated. “Sprinklers are a good idea!”
Anita smiled softly at their comment, feeling a small sense of pride in the acknowledgement of how cool her house was. It genuinely did not bother her that others may have thought her house didn’t fit in, rather Anita liked that she did not fit in. “I do not fault the thing for biting,” she conceded a bit reluctantly. “It was an animal and I was holding it. I would bite someone if they were holding me and I did not want to be held, too.” The normal infestation of wildlife, pests, and predators was part of the natural food chain of any ecosystem and environment. Not only did Anita understand that but she had a deep respect for it. But inherent in those food chains was balance.
Any element, even tiny bunny rabbits, could become a danger to that balance. And these rabbits posed a danger in their numbers - as well as their unique ability to drive an apex predator like Anita nearly to her breaking point. “It’s ears are not cute. Nothing about them is cute. I can’t even shift in my own home anymore, Felix! All I can hear is their insistent clucking… thumping… scurrying… grinding… gnawing. The gnawing. They never stop eating. Do you know what hundreds of rabbits constantly eating through everything, including metal, sounds like with my hearing?”
But there was no time to dwell on it all. Sprinklers, that had to be the solution. “We can set up a perimeter around the garden. I have an absurd amount of supplies in the shed. Point them outwards, that way they won’t spray on any of my plants. I think I have some that can be set to trigger by motion.” Anita was working things out in her mind as she started walking across the lawn to the shed, wondering how long this would even be sustainable. Wondering how long this plague of bunnies would go on for. “Maybe we can InstaCart several hundred bottles of hot sauce while we set things up? Because I am not spending hours of my time making mi abuelo’s habanero sauce only to spray it on these intruders.”
Anita relented at last, admitting that the rabbit was just an animal who’d behaved as animals did, and Felix wondered if all shifters felt this kind of kinship with their more ‘wild’ cousins. They’d always felt a certain level of connection to the animals in the woods, but part of them had assumed that was, in part, due to the time they’d spent more or less living among them in their father’s secluded house. The idea that Anita might feel the same was comforting, in a way; some quiet reassurance that Felix wasn’t an outlier, that they were normal, that they were doing something right. After all, being like Anita couldn’t possibly be bad, could it? “They’re probably scared,” they commented, looking at the rabbits. None of them looked particularly afraid, but how could they not be? The world was so big, and they were so small. How could they not be scared all the time?
Still, there was something to be said about strength in numbers, and the rabbits certainly had that. There was a certifiable army of them here, all ready to march upon Anita’s garden as if it was a battlefield. And maybe it was stressful, but Felix let out a little laugh, anyway. “But when they eat, it’s — have you seen their teeth? Anita, their teeth are cute, too.” Still, they understood how stressful the sound of it could be. “I think… something happened to them. You know? They’re not supposed to be this way. I feel bad for them.” Being something you weren’t meant to be — a bunny munching metal, a gentle soul in a fighting ring — was never very fun.
With a plan in place, Felix was happy to go along with Anita’s instructions. They followed her towards the shed, helping to pull out a few of the supplies she’d mentioned as she spoke. “How many do you think we’ll be able to get? I’m not sure how much the stores carry. And, um, which kind? I think — I mean, I really like the green stuff.”
It felt good to have a plan, even if Felix kept dragging on and on about how cute they thought the rabbits were. Maybe they were poisoning Felix somehow. Using cursed bunny magic to manipulate them into being so enthralled by their fluffy nature that they didn’t even realize the evil beneath the surface. Oh, poor sweet Felix. Anita was more determined than ever to rid her home of these demons. Pulling out hoses and funnels, tubes and spouts and throwing them into piles on the lawn, the plan was coming together with about as much haphazard foresight as most of Anita’s plans did.
“Yes, good idea. The green kind is quite delicious.” Anita paused from her efforts of digging around for supplies in the shed as she pulled out her phone. “I will just place several orders from all of the stores around town. We’ll get all of the green stuff that they have.” Several clicks of the screen later, four different InstaCart drivers were tasked with delivering Anita nearly 500 bottles of various types of green hot sauce. She wondered if that would be enough.
The cursed cottontails had already begun to congregate around the supplies that Anita was fishing out of the shed, and she let out another rattle to chase them off. “Okay, we need to set up the hoses and sprinkler heads in a perimeter. Make sure it's all tightly connected. If one section fails then the beasts can get through.” Ideally, they could get all of this set up by the time their calvary of hot sauce arrived. Maybe tonight would be the night that Anita would exact her saucy revenge.
Felix was glad that Anita seemed to know what to do with the hoses and tubes she was pulling from the shed, because they had no idea how to untangle it all themself. It all seemed very complex, and they hoped Anita knew how to put it all together without much help or that she understood well enough to give instructions that Felix would be able to follow. This plan hinged on the sprinklers being set up properly, didn’t it? The bunnies would never be scared off by faulty sprinklers.
Deciding to trust that Anita knew what she was doing, Felix focused instead on the more important matter of green hot sauce. “Don’t get the white people brand,” they said quickly. “It’s not as hot, and it probably won’t scare the bunnies off.” They looked over her shoulder as she purchased the hot sauce, nodding in approval. “This is going to work,” they said confidently. “This is going to be good.”
With the hot sauce ordered, it was time to get to work setting up the sprinklers. Felix followed the instructions Anita gave them — thankfully, it wasn’t quite as complicated as they’d first feared — and assisted in the construction of the sprinkler system, placing the valves in a careful perimeter around the yard. By the time they were finished, the first InstaCart driver was pulling up, looking… monumentally confused, but with bags and bags of hot sauce in hand. Felix grinned and waved to the man, who lifted a hand in a perplexed wave back.
“Delivery for… Antia?” He squinted at the name.
“Anita,” Felix corrected. “That’s her!” They pointed to Anita.
“Yes, of course this will work,” Anita echoed with equal confidence. Why wouldn’t it? The system seemed foolproof. It wasn’t like it was advanced mechanical engineering. It was setting up some hoses, a few sprinkler heads, motion sensor detectors, and a central source for the sprinklers to pool hot sauce from. How hard could it all be? As they started to set things up, a rhythm developed, and it felt like things were falling into place. Anita regularly emitted a soft rattle to chase off the rabbits, to keep them from messing up the system that she and Felix were building, but it seemed like they were starting to catch on that the rattle did not come with any real consequences… not yet anyway.
Just as the first driver arrived, carrying several bags full of hot sauce up the path towards the back of the house just like the instructions from the app told him to do, Anita’s phone dinged indicating that the second driver was ‘arriving soon.’ “Yes, I am Anita,” She confirmed as she approached the delivery guy, having just finished setting up the last motion sensor. “I hope you only brought the green hot sauces. I specifically said no substitutions.” She examined the bags, pleased to see that there were no bottles of red sauce in sight. That would just ruin the aesthetics at this point. Turning back to the man with a grin, she nodded, “5 stars, thank you.”
As that man was leaving, the next driver was walking up, seeming to be confused by the fact that someone else had just dropped off hot sauce. “Uhhh I also have a delivery for,” the girl paused, recognizing Anita and stiffening up a bit, “Professor Nieves? Sorry I didn’t realize that you lived here,” Anita didn’t have time for distractions, especially not from B- students. “Yes, yes, thank you for the prompt delivery. Very urgent hot sauce situation here to attend to. I’ll see you in class on Monday.”
“This is only half of it,” Anita noted to Felix as she looked down at her phone to track where the last two orders were. “They are coming from the next town over, but I think we can start emptying these bottles into the reservoir bins while we wait.” Anita reached into one of the bags and took the top off the first bottle she grabbed, giving the sauce a taste test. “Good call avoiding the white people brands. Would have just diluted the whole batch.” She extended the bottled towards Felix, offering him a taste before they got started on the next phase.
Anita seemed confident in the inevitability of the plan’s success, and Felix decided to trust in that. They didn’t think she’d ever really steered them wrong before, and they doubted she’d start on it now, either. If Anita was certain, Felix would be, too. They’d solve the bunny problem without spilling any bunny blood. (They would be spilling a pretty large amount of hot sauce, but… Well, that was probably fine. It was green hot sauce. The grass was green. That probably meant it was all natural.)
The first of the hot sauce was arriving, and Felix stood by as Anita greeted the drivers. One was apparently a student of hers — something Felix found utterly fascinating — but there was no time to focus on that. There were sprinklers to assemble and bunnies to scare, and that kind of thing demanded full attention.
Taking the bottle Anita offered to him, Felix facilitated their own taste test, nodding in approval at the pleasant burn that coated his tongue. “I think it should definitely scare the bunnies off,” they agreed, grabbing another bottle from the shopping bag and getting to work filling the reservoir bins. It was a slow process. The hot sauce moved at a less rapid pace than water would have, for obvious reasons concerning thickness. By the time they’d emptied all the bottles they had, more drivers had arrived with the rest. Felix took those, too, pouring them in with the rest little by little.
After what felt like ages, the last bottle was empty and the reservoir bins were definitely full. Felix let out a satisfied sigh, nodding their head as they observed the setup. “Okay,” they announced, clapping their hands together. “Time to turn it on. Right?”
As the final deliveries of hot sauce arrived, with Felix diligently working on emptying them all into the bins, Anita walked the perimeter that they had set up making sure to get all of the rabbits outside of the garden and ensure all of the hose and nozzle connections were tight and secure. After all of the hot sauce was poured into the reservoir bin, Anita took a moment to run the experiment through in her head. The demon rodents hated the habaneros. The sauce was made from habaneros, along with some other peppers. They would come near the garden and get sprayed away with the hot sauce. Eventually, hopefully, they would learn to just avoid her house entirely.
Smiling over at Felix, feeling confident and hopeful about this infestation for the first time since it had begun, Anita nodded. “Yes, time to turn it on.”  If this didn’t work she genuinely did not know what her next plan would be. Felix joked, noting how cute the bunnies were and how she was being a bit dramatic about the whole situation. And sure, maybe she was. But Anita deserved to be able to live in her true form in her own home and the constant chewing, munching, crunching of these rabbits was driving her mad.
Standing near the edge of the sprinkler perimeter, Anita took a deep breath as she waited for the first bunny to approach. Which did not take long, these critters were persistent she’d give them that. As the bunny hopped closer Anita could hear the system start to click on and she looked back at Felix with a wide grin, “Sounds promising!” As the bunny got in range of the motion sensor, however, the noises that the system started making sounded less and less promising. The cottontail kept hopping closer without being doused in hot sauce and Anita felt every ounce of hope she previously had begun to drain from her body.
Deciding to inspect the system, Anita took a step forward to try and see if something was blocking the nearest sprinkler. Before she was able to get very close, as she and the lone bunny stood on opposite sides of the sprinkler system, the hose popped out of its connection to the nozzles and unloaded what seemed to be the entire reservoir bin of hot sauce onto Anita. She gasped as the first drops made contact, a critical mistake that resulted in her accidentally inhaling some of the sauce. It burned, a not-so-pleasant burn, which caused her to start coughing.
This was going to work. Felix could feel it, the hope building with each bottle of hot sauce poured into the reservoir. Anita seemed to share the optimism, something that made Felix all the happier. Anita didn’t tend to be the optimistic sort, so seeing that she thought the plan was a good one made Felix that much more confident that it would work. It was hard to imagine a world in which it wasn’t successful, really; their logic was sound. The rabbits hated the peppers. There were peppers in hot sauce. Ergo… the rabbits would avoid the hot sauce. Anita’s grass might suffer a bit, but no more than it would have being trampled by tiny, rabbit feet.
At Anita’s instruction, Felix switched on the sprinkler system, holding their breath as they waited for the sprinklers to come to life. And waited. And… there was a bunny. Crap.
“Is it clogged?” They leaned down, inspecting the switch. Unaware that Anita was doing her own inspection across the lawn, Felix tapped on the hose. They picked it up and gave it a small shake, hoping to dislodge any obstructions. And it must have worked, because they heard something pop at the other end. Grinning, Felix straightened up, turning to look at Anita…
Only to find her utterly soaked in bright green hot sauce.
Frantic, Felix fumbled with the controls. They intended to turn the sprinkler off, but they briefly turned the nozzle in the wrong direction, intensifying the stream. “Crap! Sorry!” They fumbled again, this time turning the nozzle off entirely. The stream of green died down, and Anita stood in the midst of the mess. At her feet, the lone bunny who had approached remained.
Anger fumed within Anita as she stood there on the edge of her garden, drenched in green hot sauce. None of her anger was directed towards Felix, whom she could hear apologizing in the distance. This was the dark magic of the bunnies, it had to be. As she caught her breath, the coughing subsiding, she tried to keep her head down to prevent the hot sauce from dripping down into her eyes. Hopping into her view was the single white rabbit who had been taunting her, the one who somehow caused the sprinkler system to malfunction.
The rabbit seemed unphased by the smell of the hot sauce and didn’t seem to mind moving through the puddles of it in the lawn as it drew closer to Anita. She felt like it was taunting her but before she could even do anything to shoo it away, it hopped right next to her and began to lick the hot sauce off the top of her shoes. “You’ve got to be kidding me!” She screamed out before turning and storming off towards the house. “I am going to shower for several hours, please see yourself out.” She said to Felix as she passed by them. The bunnies had declared war as far as she was concerned. While this may have been a battle lost, Anita was going to find a way to come out victorious.

A very important question.
Would you prefer.
A. Werewolf bf/gf.
B. Vampire bf/gf.
C. Demon bf/gf.
Please respond at your earliest availability.
Oh dear God how do you possibly expect me to choose?? Fffffffffuckkkk okay well I can definitely eliminate the option of werewolf. I have a mild fear of dogs, I don’t need my significant other turning into one. But choosing between a demon or vampire?? Aughhhhhhhh 😭😭😭
Damn. Okay. I think I’m gonna have to say vampire. I didn’t read and have my life forever changed by Dracula at the age of 13 for nothing. And then go on and have my life changed again by Carmilla. And then go on to obsess over multiple vampire movies..................
Yeah, I think I have to say a vampire bf/gf 🦇

Roxy’s a back-sleeper. Usually with one arm crossed over her front and her other limbs askew like an NPC with ragdoll physics.
17. What’s their favorite time of year and why?
Probably early autumn? It’s when she gets to wear leather and jackets and boots and the color black without overheating, but also she’s not fucking freezing everytime she leaves the house. Also, the trees turn pretty colors. Also, there’s Halloween! She's a goth okay what do u want from her
45. What do they carry around with them during the day (i.e., in their pockets, a bag, a purse…)
Assuming she’s leaving her house just for Random Stuff – house keys, glasses, phone, wallet, swiss army knife, a sharpie. Usually in her pant or jacket pockets. If she’s specifically going to work, however, she takes those things plus a portable lunch in a small backpack instead.

TAG YOUR MINE
Characters: Neteyam Sully(26) x Fem Omaticaya Navi Reader
Warnings: none, just sweet fluff
Word Count:
Synopsis: Childhood friends play a game…could it lead to more?
Neyrali begged and pleaded as you gathered more sweet berries, popping a few between your lips as you plucked more. She had been rambling for a while about a much needed break from the heat, proposing to stop down by the stream after harvest was over.
“Please just come with us, I promise it’ll be fun and relaxing”, she pleaded, pushing her body into yours.
You could feel the blistering sun burn against your skin as you weighed your options, which weren’t many at this time of day. Going back to home tree meant your mother would be fanning over your every move, and heading back with the harvest group meant being hunched over as you peeled the thick skin from many of the fruits to get the sweet flesh inside.
A sly smile raised as Neyrali began pestering you again, “it’ll only be us girls, and you can even finish that cute little top you were making”, her smile wide now as she grasped your working arm, shaking it gently.
You could feel your resolve slipping, with no real objection except that with Neyrali, it was never just us girls. Neyrali was popular, loud and energetic as she worked within the clan. If Neyrali and Tili came then of course Tanu and Bexti were not far and with Kiri, it meant the entire Sully gang was not far behind either. Causing the peace to be upturned into hormonal chaos and pending trouble.
As you stood stretching high into the thick leaves of a yovo fruit tree, you pulled your final fruit for the day, laying it to rest along the variety of other fruits in your picking basket. Scanning for the other harvesters you could see Neyrali’s long forgotten basket back at the small bush of sweet berries in the distance.
“Okay, fine Neyrali…we can go,” you huffed as Neyrali shrieked, jumping into the air. Her happiness was short lived as you sharpened your tone “BUT only if you promise, no. funny. business” jokingly pointing your long fingers into her chest with a deadpan face.
She rolled her eyes hard as she began to pull you along, further into the thick vines of the forest. You stumbled after her, adjusting your heavy sac, that carried all your weaving tools and even pieces of your pending top, back onto your slim hips. It wasn’t long before you could hear the rushing water splashing against the nearby rocks and rippling back out into the forest.
As you entered the familiar clearing, the sounds of laughter could be heard coming clearly from Tili as she fended off Loak and Tanu from drowning her. A flurry of emotions fluttered within as you scanned the rest of the clearing, many more Omaticaya your age resting all along the bank of the stream. And as your eyes landed on the bulk form of the future Oloeyktan, sitting atop one of the much higher rocks along the stream, you could feel your body begin to tingle all over. He was a sight to see, the crush you harbored from childhood burrowing deep into your chest once again. All those years of carefree playing as friends had slowly slithered away as duty became more important. And although always sweet and respectful in passing, that really was just Neteyam.
You were extremely hot now, your eyes downcast as you made your way toward the water, farther away from the crowd.
As you settled onto the waters edge allowing your feet to dangle into the calmest part of the stream, your eyes naturally began to wander back to Neteyam’s form. He really was gorgeous in all his glory, Olo’eyktan training doing his body justice as he filled out. As your eyes trailed up his torso, you could feel the burn within your stomach, perspiration building a slick layer onto your skin. His chest, full and round as it rose and fell, his neck stretched back as sweat begins to pool in the dip that meets below, up past his soft pink lips, you could now admire his bright amber eyes, intense and focused as he gave his full attention to his surroundings. And usually he was focused on everything, observing his comrades, sweeping for potential danger, and keeping a watchful eye on his rowdy siblings, but now his eyes were only focused on you.
He was always so intense, his eyes quickly tracing your form as his lips quirked into smile, and before you could feel the tingle spread from your stomach to your burning cheeks, he was walking over.
His stride long and quick as he shuffled through the playful hunters and dancing healers. You could feel your heart quicken, thumping against your ribs as it began to drown out Neyrali’s insistent plan to get with Bexti after eclipse.
She abruptly stopped feeling Netyams strong presence behind her, a sly smile spreading across her face as she eyed his body up until she was squinting up at his face. The sun outlined his body in a heated glow that made your mouth go dry and you palmed at the moss below, grounding yourself in its cool feel.
“Hi”, he spoke softly keeping his eyes solely on you, his shoulders creating a dark shadow for you to look back up at him.
An awkward pause stretched between the three of you and you could see Neyrali roll her eyes with a small giggle pulling from her lips. She was the first to leave, not even so much as a goodbye, swaying her hips towards Bexti, who waited for her with open arms.
The silence was almost deafening, only the beat of a nearby drum, and the loud crash of water filling the space between you two. You could feed him shift down, not towering over you but hovering close as he eyed you with a smile.
“You know we haven’t spoken in a while, I miss playing with you”, he was confident as he flirted, his attraction seeping into you. His confidence made you giggle, but no response would come.
This wasn’t unusual. You know Neteyam, at least you used to. When he was young and oblivious, a playful boy, who only dreamed of becoming a mighty warrior. He spent more time with you then, playmates who spent from dawn to eclipse together. You both the same height, him taking your slightly smaller hand into his as he guided you to the small fishing pond he liked, or teaching you and his siblings how to swim on a warm day. A big brother to the small and weak, picking you up when you fell and encouraging you to run a little faster when you were almost in his grasp.
He was still that Neteyam, just taller, broader, handsomer- you smiled, but still confident and forward.
Your face turned a hue too purple and you could feel his heated gaze all over you now, burning your neck, chest, and thighs as he gaucked shamelessly.
Turning your head down back to the flowing water, you mimicked his greeting,” hi, sit with me ‘teyam”, you grinned as that childhood nickname slipped past your lips.
He was bright now, glowing as he made room for himself next to you. Leaning back into the wet earth to bask in the sun.
Eclipse was beginning as the hot sun began to dissipate. A slow progression as your skin began to cool and a slight chill began to slither across your skin.
Your body still slightly pressed up against Neteyams as he watched your work intently. A quick learner always as he began to twists and braid some of the extra twine you carried in your sac. Every so often pulling small beads from his hair and weaving them into the dainty jewelry he was making. Working alongside him was easy even when your ears spiked and a shiver ran down your spine at the touch of his thigh against yours. No words were exchanged as the sounds of everyone around drowned out seemingly into the distance.
Your hands had begun to ache as your nimble fingers worked simultaneously weaving the brightly colored beads onto the waxy thread. The multiple hues of purple shimmering as you twisted them tightly together creating a contrast to the dark blue feather tangled into hanging vines. The top was coming along nicely, and a smile graced your face as you worked along.
Every so often you could hear the giggles and shrieks from the frantic Navi playing in the water, but overall it was peaceful and you could feel your tense muscles relax as you laid along the waters edge, the small fish kissing along your legs.
The cool breeze blew against your back, a stark contrast from the heat that consumed you every so often from his amber eyes dancing along your exposed legs.
His eyes had been glued to the side of your head as you worked, sitting up against him to hold yourself up from the long day of harvest. And as you relaxed, you sunk further into him, like you once did as a child.
The seemingly serene peace was broken as a sopping wet Loak landed near you, setting himself onto the mossy edge with an obnoxious sigh. His lanky form crowded over you, his beaded hair dripping water all over your lap as you rolled your eyes, you knew it was only a matter of time.
“Loak, always the charmer”, you slipped as your eyes rolled back harshly. He was truly a show boat, even in childhood. Calling the attention of anyone who’d look to showcase his itty bitty muscles, or running through the village creating a path of chaos for all the kids to follow.
His smile was wide, canines on display as he chuckled loudly. Resting on his forearms, laid back he hadn’t so much as acknowledged his brother until you felt his arms reach around you, pulling you into his warm chest and away from his soaking wet little brother. Scolding him for his lack of manners. Neteyam ever the gentleman was still as protective as you remembered.
“ Bro, don’t be such a buzzkill, I just missed my girl”, he charmed with a toothy grin.
Now he was hovering over you, pushing you further into Neteyam’s sturdy chest. You gasped feeling smothered by the large brothers.
“Loak, please, Im not your girl or anyone’s for that matter”, you snapped, shoving his tawny body from your personal space. You could smell the sweet scent of yaku berries and healing paste seeping from him and so you teased “even after a bath you still smell like Sati”.
It was Loak’s turn to stutter, a purple blush spreading across his face as his flickering ears burned a painful looking red. You giggled, a sharp cackle spreading through the clearing as a low rubble of Neteyam’s chuckle soothed against your back.
Loak was so easy to tease, even as he had grown up with a quick mouth, you had a slick tongue that was quick with retort. His gasps halted as he eyed you with sharpened eyes, and you had returned to weaving, knowing that he would have much more to say.
“Well at least I’m not cuddled up with the next Olo’eyktan,” he quipped and now it was your turn to choke.
Neteyam’s solid body was now hovering over you from behind, rubbing your back, and pulling you back into him further as he scolded his brother.
Without looking you could hear the bright smile he held and it felt like old times. Loak teasing you about the very obvious crush you had on his older brother, and a Neteyam’s gentleman like nature allowing you to hide within his chest as a blush creeped along every point of your body.
Now he was pushing his younger brother back into the shallow waters edge, a loud splash crashing against both your legs as he surfaced back up for air.
“So low bro and you know it”, he gasped with a roll of his eyes.
Neteyam’s boisterous laugh sounded out into the crowd calling the attention of the few people still left as eclipse was ending.
The darkness had begun to descend upon Pandora calling the bioluminescent flora to glow with the absence of light. You began packing up your bag, placing your almost finished top at the bottom of your satchel.
“Neteyam were you able to finish”, you inquired with a small smile and he began fishing through the moss where he left the forgotten project.
As his large body turned back to your own reaching out for your long arm. His fingers clasping onto your own as the feeling of wooden beads gliding up past your fingers and then onto your wrist. A tiny bracelet with turquoise pebbles woven tightly between flower shaped purple beads you had stuffed at the bottom of your own collection of pebbles.
Your entire face lit up, a now pink blush creeping along your cheeks as you recognized the gleaming teal beads that matched the many beads within his own hair and jewelry he wore everyday.
You didn’t imagine the small project to keep himself occupied as he relaxed at the river would be for you, but like Loak he was still a confident charmer, and you smiled knowingly as your eyes admired his work.
His notable skill as a warrior trumped any of the other skills he had learned within his 23 years of living, but still his weave-ship rivaled a few of the skilled weavers within the clan.
“It’s gorgeous teyam..is this really for me?”, you gushed as he fiddled with his work wound around your wrist. His response came much later, a small bubble of silence that made you look up into his awaiting eyes.
“Of course, love”, his smile gleamed the same bright glow as the surrounding flora and he pulled you into him, crushing you against his warm chest.
“ Alright lovebirds, how about a game before we head back” you could hear Loak snicker from behind you, his soaking wet body making the moss below mushy.
Now he was yelling, calling attention to the few who were still lazing about the clearing. You could make out the pile of Neyrali, Bexti, Tili, & Tanu near the edge of the clearing, laying against the massive tree that shaded parts of the pond. They seemed to be in a relaxed conversation with slight smiles as they flirted with each other.
Over the years you knew that each pair was endgame, but no one was in a rush, our youth consumed with finding our place with the traditions of the omiticaya and excelling to live up to our proud parents.
As Loaks voice sounded out into the clearing again, competing against the howls of nightly creatures lurking far within the distance, the group had made their way up and over the waters edge near us.
The boys hollered as some much needed fun was suggested and you could feel yourself being pulled up to stand, Neteyam pulling you close against his chest again.
“how about a game of truth or dare?”’ Loak suggested a smirk forming as he stared down Sati. Her dark hair hung in waves, flowing against her back as she rested against a nearby rock.
Everyone tracked his eyes, landing on her form as she sat oblivious to the many eyes resting on her. She was a great warrior, following after her father to be a notable scout and guard in the late hours of the night. Loak and Sati had been partners sinde she passed her iknimiya. His training had proved fruitful and they were a noticeable pair within the clan.
You called out to her, adding to the crowd of young Navi looking to have a little bit of careless fun before trekking back home.
Although many people were all up for the teasing fun that accompanies playing the human game introduced by the current Olo’eyktan , Toruk Makto.
You had personally played the game with the sully kids many times. Always in the comfort of the sully families hut, as the game always seemed to get out of hand when played within the forest. The first and only time we played in the forest lead to baby Tuktirey being lost for hours, only being found long after eclipse. Loak having dared her to stay hidden within the forest until she was found. The brave Tuk had blindly completed her brothers dare, giving her father a “heart attack”, as he berated Loak once again for such dumb antics.
As you began to decline the game, in respect for the rule, Neteyam’s deep voice beat you to it, “ you know we aren’t allowed, plus we need to ALL be making our way back to Hometree”, his stern voice seemed to pierce everyone standing around and many had begun to disperse, slowly heading to the path that led home.
Loak huffed loudly, stilling everyone,” we’re literally all adults Neteyam-“ he retorted harshly but continued.
“-but fine how about tag” he suggested with roll of his big eyes.
You remembered the game fondly, your small legs racing through the forest, your skrawny limbs being thrashed by whipping vines and harsh roots sticking up from the ground. Your short body was still a bit clumsy, as you tried to leap from branch to branch. You rarely lost even with that disadvantage and you smiled boldly as you knew you could win again.
“we haven’t played that in so long”, you gushed, jumping up and down in a giddy childlike manner.
You could hear Loak and Neteyam snicker as they gaped at your excitement. Neteyam’s body had jostled a bit as you jumped against him and as his hand smoothed itself over your head, with a light pat, you grinned harder.
As if on autopilot, the crowd began to disperse. Female Navi shifting to the edge of the clearing, readying themselves in the direction of hometree.
The warriors still left, huddled at the waters edge, eyeing up the female Navi, picking their prey. The human game of tag had many years been morphed to a game of hunt. Young Navi learning to track and flow with the movement of trees, eager to become revered warriors within the clan. In all it’s fun, it had given many of them the confidence to begin training at a young age and pass their rites early too.
Hometree, our safe haven was base, and every prey who made it to its thick roots at its base was safe from the strong grip of their hunters.
If caught you were subjected to whatever desires your hunter requested, and most caught female Navi ended with courting gifts and shared whispers of love in the glowing night.
In much younger age you remembered the chase to be just as exhilarating as it was scary. You’d forgone playing many times, and only when Neteyam pinky promised to be your hunter for the game did you relent. With watering eyes and a bobbing poked out lip, you begged against his chest to go easy on you. His soft eyes and calm voice always reassuring you that he would protect you no matter what.
You smiled brightly every time you barreled through the thick vines covering the entrance to Hometree, spinning around to jump against Neteyam’s unwavering form right behind you. He was always so close, but never close enough.
“We’ve picked! Does everyone remember how to play”, a young hunter by the name of Tsu’mey called out into the clearing.
He was eyeing up another young harvester, Juma. The intense gaze of every hunter was cascading over their prey and you could feel the weight of Neteyam’s gliding over your skin.
His intense stare caused a hot prickle to begin crawling up your skin, every hair follicle on edge as your body turned over to fight or flight.
Your chest began to squeeze, tightening around your beating heart. Your widened eyes, pinching into slight amusement. The game was about to begin, and as you readied your shaking body, steadying it against the solid ground beneath you, you called out to him, loudly amongst the overlapping calls of daring hunters, “so close, ma teyam”, pausing for dramatic effect, “but never close enough”.
He was crouched now, his looming body morphing into the form of a beast, his eyes as daring as a palulakan itself.
Your sharp eyes had began to search for his form among the hunters. They had crowded around at the ponds edge, waiting for the countdown to begin for our headstart.
Neteyam must have stood at its center, his bulky form hidden well amongst the others so you crouched, tensing your body to prepare to run. 10 seconds. That’s all you get before he’s behind you, you reminded yourself.
“READY”, was what silenced everyone. The one word calling out into the clearing, jolting your body for the rush. Your toes dig deep into the soil below, a slight breeze chilling your wet skin.
“SET”, a low voice called out, stilling all the surrounding Navi. The silence was palpable, even the surrounding foliage and native creatures stilled to a pause.
You could hear your heart beating against your rib cage. Knees bent and hands outstretched to pull against the cascading vines.
“GO”,a deeper tone sounded out, the familiar accent sounding out into the clearing. You sprung into a sprint, pushing off the soil as soon as the Navi next to you did.
10
9
The load chants from the hunters spurred you on as you knew they would be barreling behind you any second now. Surely their eyes were tracking their prey, seeing the direction and scenting the path.
8
7
You pushed on, past the clearings bordering foliage and up into the trees for hopefully an added advantage. Home was not far and you knew you could swing further up higher so you pushed on.
6
5
The vines were twisted, forcing you to pull against them to make way for your slim form. Desperately clawing at the air to keep your head clear of the heavy leaves blocking your view.

You could hear the loud calls of hunters on the loose. In every direction they called familiar chants, as if they were hunting tailoang, in the night air. A slight burn was creeping up into your thighs, the soles of your feet beginning to ache as you landed harshly on a giant branch, high in the air.
You could feel him, he wasn’t close just yet, but his presence was easy to pick out many paces away. His adept body moving through your cleared path smoothly, catching up to your form, in less time than usual.
Your fingers were stinging now, small scrapes adorning your nimble fingers as you pulled against some particularly strong vines.
This may have not been a good idea, you thought. On the ground you only had to worry about the deep roots sticking up out the earth. Hopping over them with ease, and avoiding the chaos of other avoiding prey and hunters.
As you pulled against a thick cascading vine , pushing your body into the air to land against a branch further ahead you could feel the soft touch of his fingers.
He was way to close now. Neteyam was insanely fast, well past his peers in agility, speed, and strength but your head-start should have afforded you a good distance.
You could hear his harsh breathes now, almost as if he was right on top of you. Pushing your sore legs further, a harsh burn began to ripple through them. The thump of your heart beating against your ribs pushed you on, your wideshot eyes seeking out a quick escape.
A sigh of relief left your lips as the pink glow peaked around the corner of a large branch up ahead. Slipping down the slim branch you began to jump down quickly. Hopping clumsily from branch to branch, as you closed in on the landmark, the bright flora of (pick one) growing against a tall tree, almost as tall as kelutral??. Its roots spiraled around the tree in a magenta hue covering.
You were close.
Pushing forward the quick whips of branches and vines slicing against your skin stung, twisting within your braids before being snagged out. You could hear the path behind you shuffling loudly, tree bark scratched and leaves ruffled to make way for his opposing frame.
The loud hoots and calls of hunters surround you, as you closed in on Hometree. Your rapid breaths pushed out between your lips, heart beating harshly against your chest. But you could see your home insight. Just a few feet before you would be passing the grand threshold of the tree winding branches.
And then you felt it.
Warm hands tugging against your strained arms pulling you back from the winding roots leading to the entrance of kelutral. His hard chest pressed firmly against your back as he forced your body to come to a sudden stop. The air rushing from your lungs halted and a harsh gasp pushed past your lips as you swung around to face your predator.
Then his lips are covering yours, a passionate dance of tongue and clashing teeth. His bulky form pushing you over until you were leaning uncomfortably far back and holding onto his shoulders tightly.
As his lips began to pull away, you could feel your body following, begging to be kissed again. You could feel his hands all over now, on your cheeks, neck, shoulders, waist, and lastly your ass. His musky scent mixed with the sweet scent of moss surrounded you and you feel into his body comfortably with your eyes closed and head tucked into between his pecs.
“Your mine now”, he rasped. His lazily flicking tail wrapped around your thigh, holding you flush against his form.

[pm in spanish] Embarrassing that you, an incredible detective, did not realize how obviously I was pining for you? I think that's something, Em. When have I ever talked about owls before? It was very clear I was simping, and being a little freak about it. Which is frankly, very adorable of me. For you on the other hand, so sad.
Oh sweet boy, you don't think a massage is nice because you've never gotten one. That makes sense. Well, I can fix that. (it's evil because you don't get to kiss me while it's happening)
Tumblr media
[pm, in spanish] There's nothing embarrassing about not being able to read your mind. You're talking about owls, and I'm supposed to know what you mean by that? I've never even seen an owl.
I don't know how to give a massage. Evil or otherwise. And I am not tense. What if I just sit on you? Might keep you quiet for a while. [user is incapable of sitting still for more than five minutes, so this is a pretty empty threat.]

bextie, a question for you as the queen of smut
does it ever start to feel repetitive, and if so, how do you avoid falling into the trap of 🍆🍑🌸👄💦🙄🤷‍♀️
Oooh queen of smut? Me? My, Meg you are so sweet!
Okay so personally for me, no it doesn't get repetitive but that is because I am so, so, so, and I cannot stress this enough, massively fucking horny and a huge whore.
I adore all things pertaining to sex, love to consume lots of different content allll about it, not even just straight up porn or fic or erotica but lots of other things with all sorts of different kinds of sexual focus and vibes. I just find sex in all it's forms so interesting to write about and of course writing about different characters and exploring them through sex and sexuality is my favorite way to get into and play with characters and get into their heads. I put a ton of thought into what I think different characters are into and like sexually and how they'd act, so that combined with my over active libido, my love to spoil and serve and provide good rep of all kinds, the sheer amount of kinks to explore keeps it fun and fresh for me personally!
I would recc always being on the look out for inspo, it can come from the best and strangest places, as well as writing for new kinks and also, keep in mind that verity is the spice of life! Don't feel like you gotta do a whole big to-do, sometimes the best fics are just exploring a moment, an idea, sometimes no pre-amble is needed and doing a little drabble or a taste is best!
