call me baby ♡ mdni
how mha boys praise you praise kink, established relationship, f!reader, dirty talk (puppy, princess, good girl), p in v, oral f!receiving 🌊: deku, bakugo, shoto, kirishima
Tumblr media
deku:
I think it goes without saying that deku loves calling you puppy. He sprinkles a mix of darling, love and dear into his daily use of pet names as well. 'Puppy' is something very private to him; something meant just for him and you; something that lays both of you completely bare. And we all know how rambly deku gets when he's nervous or excited, you can bet your ass it's even more amplified when he's horny.
When deku came home after evening patrol completely spent you could practically feel the exhaustion dripping off of him and pooling on the floor around him. You hated seeing him like this and you knew you had to help him somehow. It didn't take long until you were on top of him bouncing and grinding to your hearts content. You made quick work of deku and soon enough he was trying his hardest to hold onto what was left of his sanity. "Puppy, you feel s'good" he slurs as your hips rock against his. He could barely keep his green eyes open and yet he couldn't stop praising you. "You're so so good to me puppy, taking me so well, ahh~". Even when his mind was wiped blank the love he held for you was so prominent that his tongue was doing somersaults, carefully stringing words of praise together "You're doing so good for me puppy. You feel haaah~ amazing. Keep going puppy, puppy-". His rambling came to a halt only as his muscles spasmed and his head fell back in a silent cry. But he was quick to pick up again after he came back to his senses, telling you how good you feel and how much he loves you <3
bakugo:
Bakugo may seem like a person who doesn't praise at all but in reality he's a sucker for it. In the beginning it would really require some emotional work from him though because admitting how much he cares for you and how important you are to him is incredibly hard for him. It's something he struggles with but after he gets used to being vulnerable with you he can't stop praising you. Especially when you're having sensual sex the words effortlessly fall from his lips.
You were going at it for what felt like hours and yet it was only your second round. Bakugos cock was pistoning in and out of you with speed that left you unable to speak. Your whines and moans fell like oil into the fire that is Katsuki Bakugos ego. "Yeah? You like that?" Katsuki asks breathlessly. Your reply made entirely of moans only earns a cocky chuckle. "You're taking me so well baby, just like that, yeah". He hungrily stares at the space where you two are connected, eager to get more moans out of you he starts circling your clit. "Just like that baby, just let loose for me princess". You couldn't help but throw your head back as he settled on the perfect pace. You couldn't help but wonder if someone had given him an instruction manual on how to make you cum with the way that he's working your buttons. "Eyes on me pretty princess" he says as he gently guides your face back "That's a good girl". And with one more flick of your clit your orgasm washes over you, bakugos voice still echoing through your head.
shoto:
At first shoto was very new to dirty talk but after you tried it out on him and he enjoyed it a lot he decided he wanted to be able to make you feel that way too. His gentle and kind nature translates to this aspect as well and and his dirty talk is very literal.
It took shoto mere seconds to figure out that something was bothering you. Although you tried to hide it as to not alarm or bother him, you weren't too surprised that he had you pegged so quickly. Shoto coaxed your troubles out of you, and as he heard that you couldn't help but feel undesirable and unattractive his brows furrowed. Luckily he knew exactly how to convince you of the opposite. His tongue was lapping at your folds and obscene slurping sounds filled the air. "Your pretty pussy tastes so good, mmmm". The vibration of shotos groan made you moan. He pulled away with a dopey smile and spoke with a voice so sweet it was practically dripping honey. "Look at you all splayed out for me, I've never seen anything more beautiful, you take my breath away baby". And just like that, as if he didn't just bring tears to your eyes with his words he ducked down and sucked on your clit like there was no tomorrow.
kirishima:
Kirishima is already kissing the ground you walk on in everyday life so it's no surprise that he's showering you with praise in the bedroom as well. Really it'd be a surprise if someone were to date him and NOT develop a praise kink. He maneuvers his way around words like a champion, alternating between sickly sweet and downright nasty.
all characters aged up
Kirishima considered it a miracle that the two of you had a day off work that actually lined up. He didn't remember the last time that had happened. He was up and dripping with sweat from his morning run as you were still sound asleep. A quick shower later he stepped out of the fogged up room to hear you humming in the kitchen. He saw you making yourself a cup of coffee, leaning against the kitchen counter in nothing but panties and an oversized shirt. He took a good thirty seconds to just watch your ass gently bounce as you were bobbing your head to the song from the radio, almost salivating at the way your flesh spilled out of your panties. You heard a soft "Baby you're killing me" from the hallway. You just had to chuckle when you saw kirishima, palming his boner. The effect you had on him was truly undeniable. You curled your finger, beckoning him to come and kirishima was on you in an instant. His tongue was working miracles on your neck and every time he stopped to breathe, he leaned in close and whispered something sinfully sweet into your ear. As if your mind wasn't hazy enough as you heard him "Such a good girl for me, so perfect". Your knees were about to give out as kirishima scooped you up in his arms and carried you to your bed. You couldn't deny that he was your demise as well as your salvation.
buy me a coffee? <3

Learning to belong ~ poly!MHA x fem!Reader (10)
So it’s been a while, huh? I think the beginning of the year crashed into me like a bulldozer, and I wasn’t in the mood to write. Well, I did write, but everything looked like shit from the butt. But at last, I managed to push through it. I tried something different with the writing here, so I hope it’s better than my previous work. Enjoy!

Izuku truly wished they could put this whole incident behind them and move on. He had hoped that once Todoroki sent an email to the hospital director—a carefully worded, deeply sincere apology addressed to Doctor L/N and the hospital, sent the day after his failed attempt at apologizing in person— would lift some of the weight off Todoroki and Kirishima’s shoulders. That soon enough, things would settle, and the pack would be back to normal.
But from the moment Todoroki first told them what had happened, Izuku had a bad feeling. He knew that Todoroki going to the hospital alone to apologize was the right thing to do, but there had been something in Todoroki’s eyes, a sharp glint of excitement that didn’t sit right with him. And when he’d returned home that night, he’d found him on the couch, motionless, his hand buried in a bowl of peach slices and his fingers sticky with juice. His expression vacant, and absent. Kirishima hadn’t been the same either. If anything, after hearing about the failed apology attempt, he had gotten worse. Somehow, a single alpha, one Izuku had never even met, had managed to throw his entire pack into chaos.
Rationally, he knew it wasn’t the doctor’s fault. If anyone was to blame, it was his mates. But the whole situation was so strange, so frustrating, that he couldn’t help understand how the hell they had ended up here. He’d tried to ask Todoroki about the alpha, about you, but all he got was a name, and something about the way Todoroki said it made him hesitate to press any further. When he turned to Kirishima, he got even less. The redhead had been too angry that day to remember much at all. All he recalled, a few days later, was an unfamiliar fruity scent mixed with Todoroki’s before he broke the door open.
Now, three days had passed, yet the air in their apartment only grew heavier. And Todoroki—Todoroki was hardly there at all, more shadow than man. He spent most of his days asleep, and when he was awake, he barely moved, barely spoke. Just sat there, eyes fixed on the wall with an hollow expression, as if he were somewhere far beyond their reach. He wasn’t eating either, at least not enough. He’d claimed to have no appetite. The only thing Todoroki had asked for—had eaten without hesitation—was peaches. Not just a few, but an almost absurd amount, day after day, like he was possessed. He would sit there, silent and distant, methodically working through bowl after bowl, as if peaches were the only thing tethering him to reality. And the strangest part? He never seemed satisfied. No matter how many he ate, it was never enough. Since when did Todoroki even like peaches this much? Izuku had no idea and he was getting weird out by the sheer amount of peach’s pits in their trash can.
Izuku had tried to get him to eat more, something other than just peaches. He tried a soft approach, casually suggesting he add something else to his plate, like rice or any protein, just to balance it out. But no matter how he went about it, Todoroki refused every time, just shaking his head and mumbling that he wasn’t hungry. Kirishima’s attempts weren’t successful either, he had brought home soba from Todoroki’s favorite spot, but Todoroki only took a couple of bites before pushing the bowl away. Katsuki couldn’t do any of the gentle approaches. He had yelled, scowled, and was a breath away from shoving food down Todoroki’s throat. But none of it worked. It was like trying to start a fire with wet wood—Todoroki just sat there, blank-eyed and distant, completely unreachable.
It was a mess. A complete, exhausting mess. And if Todoroki was worrying him to death, Kirishima wasn’t far behind.
At least he was still functional—he still ate, still spoke, still went to work—but there was something off. He was quieter, his usual warmth dulled at the edges. Kirishima was their glue, the one who lifted their spirits and held them together when things got rough, but ever since they failed to get through to the hospital—failed to contact you—he hadn’t been himself fully. The only response they had gotten to Todoroki’s email was a generic, automated reply, and that had done nothing but add to Kirishima’s guilt.
Tumblr media
Izuku sat on the couch, his laptop on the coffee table while he absentmindedly tapped his fingers against his knee, his thoughts running in circles.
This wasn’t the first time Todoroki had been reckless. Beneath that calm exterior, he could be just as stubborn as Katsuki and him, even rash. But this? The complete detachment, the disregard for his own well-being, the strange obsession with a single food ? It wasn’t just a quiet withdrawal from his pack, It was like he’d stopped caring about himself completely. And that’s worried Izuku to death. He felt sick and helpless, and powerless. Why is this happening? His thoughts spiraled, fast and frantic. Was there something we missed? Maybe he’s just really tired and it will all get sort out ? But this isn’t like him. He’s shutting everyone out. Izuku’s chest tightened. What if I can’t fix this? What if it’s already too late? His mind kept racing, as it always did, with no answers, just more and more questions.
The coldness from their mate reminded him too much of their early high school days, when Todoroki had been a boy made of ice, all sharp edges and frozen shut doors. Izuku felt like the bond they shared had frayed, leaving him disconnected, adrift, as if though he was fading from their grasp.
The pieces didn’t add up. Frankly, the more he thought about it, the stranger it became. How had a simple visit to the hospital turned into this? What exactly had happened in that room? Izuku couldn’t shake the feeling that he was missing something. And when he felt like that, he did what he always did—he investigated.
He started with the hospital itself, combing through their website, news articles, and patient reviews. Most of it was clean. No major scandals, no malpractice lawsuits, no patient complaints that weren’t immediately resolved. Still unsatisfied, he called the hospital again, this time pushing harder for answers but all he got was a meeting with the director of the hospital tomorrow afternoon which was better than nothing.
After that call, something clicked. When Todoroki came back home, he’d been in heat—and Kirishima had stayed with him through it. But it had been early, too early. The pack tracked their cycles meticulously, they had to. If all of them ended up « indisposed » at the same time, and a high-profile villain struck, it would be a disaster.
This wasn’t just odd. It was wrong, he thought. There has to be an explanation for this.
And so, he dove into research again, scouring medical papers, forums, even the more questionable corners of the internet. At first, all he found were the usual causes—stress, sudden hormonal shifts, pack mates, environmental factors. But none of those fit. None of them explained why Todoroki’s heat had hit him so randomly. And then, buried under layers of medical jargon and old case studies, he found it.
It was possible to induce a heat. Not naturally, not safely, but with the right mix of drugs, it could be done. Hospitals wouldn’t do it legally, of course, but the medications required for it? They weren’t rare. Every one of them could be found in any hospital.
Did someone do this to him? His heart hammered in his chest, just imagining this possibility. The thought alone made his hands tremble with anger. Alphas abusing omegas were not rare, and doctors abusing their patients were even less rare. It disgusted him to think Todoroki and Kirishima were beating themselves over this incident when the doctor was responsible after all. No, just potentially responsible. He couldn’t know for sure but part of him was already certain that this was the explanation.
As Izuku scrolled through paper after paper on this drug, the apartment remained still allowing him to fully soak every information he could find online. The low hum of the heater was the only sound breaking the silence. It was just him and Todoroki tonight, though he hadn’t seen his mate since morning.
But then, footsteps.
Todoroki stepped into the living room, his movements slow, mechanical. He didn’t acknowledge Izuku, didn’t even glance in his direction—just crossed the space and sank onto the couch with a quiet, exhausted sigh. His posture was loose, almost boneless, but there was no real relaxation to it—just the weight of someone running on empty.
Izuku’s fingers hovered over his laptop. He hadn’t even realized how much time had passed, how deep he’d buried himself in his research. Outside the glow of his screen, the apartment was already dark, save for the dim light spilling from the his pc. It was late. Later than he’d thought and he probably start to make dinner for tonight.
Izuku still remained sited on the couch though, seeing Todoroki like this—so empty—only made his anger burn hotter and made him stop his tracks. But he forced himself to swallow it down. He couldn’t afford to lash out, not when he still wasn’t sure. He had to wait for tomorrow, when he’ll have the meeting with the director.
One way or another, he was going to get answers.
Izuku shut his laptop, fingers lingering over the lid. He didn’t want anyone finding out about this—not until he had proof. But before he could fully gather his thoughts, the sudden bang of the front door swinging open, followed by the unmistakable rasp of Katsuki’s voice, nearly sent him jumping to his feet.
“The hell is it so damn dark in here?” Bakugo grumbled, irritated as he flicked on the lights.
Izuku blinked at the sudden brightness, squinting as his blond mate strode inside with Kirishima trailing closely behind.
“Hey, I thought you guys had night patrol,” Izuku said, glancing toward the clock hanging on the wall. They weren’t supposed to be home yet.
“We did,” Bakugo responded as he tossed his keys onto the counter. “Something came up, someone covered for me.”
Kirishima didn’t say anything at first. He moved past Bakugo, arms crossing over his chest as he leaned against the back of the couch, his gaze flickering toward Todoroki. Checking on him.
“My agency had an emergency downtown,” he finally said, voice lacking its usual warmth. “A villain attack turned into a rescue op. They needed extra hands for search and rescue. By the time we were done, they gave me my evening.”
Izuku hummed in acknowledgment, but his attention drifted to Katsuki, who hadn’t moved from where he stood. His gaze was locked onto Todoroki, sharp, expectant.
Waiting
But Todoroki didn’t react. Didn’t look up. Didn’t even acknowledge any of them too.
Just nothing
Bakugo grumbled something under his breath before heading into the kitchen with anger in each step.

I hope y’all enjoyed the chapter! Chapter 11 will be out soon, and we’ll get a Bakugo POV soon too. I wanted to focus on the pack dynamics before the reader enters, and there’ll be more of that next chapter. I think it’s important to show the established couple’s bond, so yeah we’ll get a lot of it and even more after the reader come in the picture.
Doing a taglist is a too much work omg, no wonder most people don’t do it nowadays. On one hand I like that it hard bc that’s mean so many people want to keep up with my fics that I ended having to tag many people, on the other hand this lowkey discouraging me from posting bc I know I have to update the list every time 😭
This is such a fake ass problem to have, I am self aware.
As always, criticisms are welcomed
Big thank you to @cafekitsune who made the beautiful dividers

The walk to the training facility was quite peaceful. In the short time you'd known him, you'd noticed Midoriya was a talker. He was asking questions about your quirk, how you learned to use it given the circumstances of your childhood, millions of things.
Usually you'd feel inclined to tell someone to fuck all the way off upon being asked any of these questions. But the space between you and your new friend felt comfortable, which was something you couldn't say you'd experienced in a long time. If anything the tension in your life had been palpable the past few months, even if it was only between you and yourself.
When the two of you finally arrived at the training facility you were happy to find it empty with the exception of All Might. He was perched on the opposite side of the room, on what looked to be a spectators bench. He raised a hand high and waved both of you over.
"Young Midoriya, Young (y/n), lock the door behind you and come on over so I can explain today's exercise." He nodded in the direction of the door and Midoriya turned to lock it. You made for the side of the room All Might was sitting on with Midoriya a few steps behind.
While All Might explained what you'd be doing you took off your overcoat. You hadn't wanted it to be ridiculously obvious where you were going, especially not after blowing off your practical partner. So you'd opted to throw the biggest flannel known to man over your training suit.
The mock up of your current gear held up well enough for it to be a training suit, one comparable to the one you've used in combat. Though the gear itself was a little... ratty. It hadn't been updated in quite some time and would without a doubt benefit from some TLC. You made a mental note to visit the support department before All Might spoke.
"Alright, go ahead and show us what you can do kiddo." He nodded as he motioned for Midoriya to sit next to him.
You tilted your head in confusion.
"Huh? I thought we were supposed to-"
"Nope. If your enemy is to have a fair fight they need to understand the range of your abilities, and yours is quite wide. Regardless of strength, It would be both unfair and reckless to send Midoriya in blind, even in a sparring match."
"Fair point, but then what do you want me to do?"
"Simple, use your quirk in the best way you know how. Show off a little if that's what you want to do," All Might waved his hand flippantly, "I just want to see what you're capable of and where your limits are, so that you can surpass them. The last time I saw you use your quirk was years ago. I would imagine you've improved since then?" He quirked a brow. Midoriya sat beside him with a notebook in his lap, looking between the two of you.
"I have." You nodded curtly, beginning to understand what was being asked of you.
"Then the floor is yours Young (y/n)." All Might gestured to the expansive training room behind you. You turned towards the open space, calmly walked to the center of the room, and thought through your plan. If improvement was what was being asked of you, why not show just how many of your limits you've surpassed?
Overhead you counted six rows of ten high-powered lights, making for sixty total. With those, plus the air conditioning, plus the rest of the technology in here, you figured you should be set. Electrical energy seemed to be the safest route while still being impressive.
Taking a deep inhale you tightened your core, the very inside of your soul to be as hard as rock. "Siphon." You breathed out on the exhale, you made an effort to feel every molecule of electricity within your reach. The current expanse of your quirk was the training room. If necessary, you could triple your reach, but you didn't want to take power from any of the dorm buildings.
Push your energy out, grab more of it, pull, compress.
Push your energy out, grab more of it, pull, compress.
Push your energy out, grab more of it, pull, compress.
You could feel your insides burning, but not in a way that hurt. They burned in the way that let you know you were sucking up every volt of energy available to you. In such a way that you could feel the energy building on itself and multiplying.
You didn't notice the way the lights went out, or the way the AC stopped working, or the electrical lock on the door come undone. You only knew you'd taken all you could when the breaker popped, then exploded with a resounding clap.
The way that you looked during was unbeknownst to you. But if you had to guess by the, "Oh my, oh my, what?" that Midoriya breathed out with wide eyes, you'd say terrifying.
If the way that All Might was looking at you like a proud father was any indication, you'd say you did your job.
Smiling softly you looked down at your, now glowing, skin. Electricity danced across it softly until you allowed it to dissipate. Simply deactivating it and storing it as potential energy.
"When I told you to show me what you got, I didn't mean to cut the power out. Jeez kid, what have they been feeding you over there?" All Might joked with a smile, one you returned to him proudly.

BkDk (Pro Hero!Katsuki x Teacher!Izuku) Angst Oneshot
“I have a feeling you got everything you wanted.”
Izuku felt the back of his throat dry up as his phone blinked on. A news notification of Kacchan - of Ground Explosion Murder God Dynamight. His heart pounded in his chest, eyes blurring over the words as they skidded over the brightness of the screen.
‘Pro Hero Dynamight just hit #15 in the polls!’
He had his notifications turned on every possible platform with anything to do with Kacchan. He was happy for Kacchan. So why did every buzz and ping and vibrate, one after another, feel like a stab in the chest? He stood still, jaw sour with pain. Katsuki had been #16 for almost a year. He was happy for Kacchan.
Izuku’s face scrunched sourly as he contorted it into a smile which seemed to be more like a wavering grimace. He was happy Kacchan got to live his dream life.
“You’re not wasting time, stuck here like me.”
He was glad Kacchan wasn’t a ship being tugged down by the anchor Izuku was.
Izuku had long submerged - drowning and stuck in the sea bed; unable to rise again. He would never be able to pull his weight, swim back up, with no power in his body.
With no quirk.
He’d never be able to be a hero like Kacchan without a quirk. He’d never be able to fight for people by his friends’ sides - together and unified. He barely saw any of them anymore. It was like their disappearance left a hole in his heart. But barely seeing Katsuki was like half of him had been torn away from him.
Katsuki was everything, a hero with undisputable fame and power. Izuku was nothing. a quirkless stranger with nobody to help and no power to help with.
“You’re just thinking it’s a small thing that happened.”
When we was trapped in that hospital bed, wrapped and tangled in wires, he wasn’t ready. He wasn’t ready to hear it. He would never be ready to hear it and even now the words bang about in the back of his head as a constant reminder that he’ll always be nothing.
Being told he was quirkless again was like his fingers always skimming an open palm but never being able to reach for or hold its warmth - held back by tangled and twisted cables of veins that were barely pumping him alive.
Something like that, that meant so much to Izuku - that decided his whole life; his whole fate and existence, would mean nothing to someone as amazing and precious as Katsuki. It was… insignificant to an incredible hero like him.
“The world ended when it happened to me.”
It felt hopeless - worthless. Living felt like air was only swirling into his lungs so he could slam a shovel into dirt and push.
Everything Izuku has worked so hard for. Getting the quirk, clearing a beach, training his body, strengthening himself, late nights training and early morning spars, watching his diet, pushing himself as hard as he possibly could, breaking his bones along with himself and striving to be a hero.
Everything he’s done. What was the point?
Everything that Izuku has ever wanted to be, all he ever wanted to accomplish was always a dream he could reach out to, but never hold as if it was his - always grazing his fingertips.
“I have a feeling you got everything you wanted.”
Whenever he’s sat at his stupid desk, finishing stupid reports about stupid villains that nobody would gives 2 fucks about, he sees it. He sees the framed photo of Izuku beside his laptop - smiling so bright and joyful that he can’t help but let a small smile play on his lips as he finishes up.
It’s a tough pill to swallow when he sees Izuku happily smiling and Ochako’s story every several months. Or whenever he decides to, for some unknown and peculiar reason, take a longer route to his destination and catches a glimpse through Izuku’s classroom window.
He always looks happy. He always looks fulfilled - like he’s found his purpose in life. Even without living the dream of being by Katsuki’s side as an equal.
Katsuki’s gut always convulsed between the grasp of knowing Izuku was perfectly content without him and never needed him anyway - thrown away like a dirty napkin. His jaw might have trembled slightly as he smiled at the framed image but he continued with his life either way.
“You’re not wasting time, stuck here like me.”
He had to after all. He wouldn’t want to fall even further behind.
Izuku has already accomplished so much. He’s saved so many people and helped so many children learn of the hero world.
Izuku is so determined and dedicated…. and Katsuki is just slowly going mad; being strangled by paperwork, crammed between the four white walls of his agency’s top floor and the view peeking from the top of his laptop. The view of a clean desk with a nameplate and a few all might figures neatly placed on it.
Katsuki can’t help but sigh every time he looks at his ranking. He’s been purposely trying to hold himself back, but with the extravagant amount of hours he’s working to be able to afford Izuku’s suit, he’s climbing the ranks anyway. He absolutely refuses to hit the top ten or anywhere close to Number 1 if Izuku isn’t on the same level as him.
“You’re just thinking it’s a small thing that happened.”
Katsuki knows for certain Izuku doesn’t know about the shithole he lives in - a kitchen and a bed with a shitty excuse of a tiny shower and toilet. He even has to wash his hands in the goddamn kitchen… or is the bedroom? Whatever.
Katsuki knows Izuku doesn’t know that he sleeps 5 hours a day and spends the rest of it working. Katsuki knows Izuku doesn’t know he doesn’t get time to cook and barely spends ¥2000 a day on unhealthy, convenience store food that’s bad for his body.
Katsuki knows Izuku doesn’t know about all the times he passes out from being overworked and the couple of times he threw childish fits for being hospitalized when he could be working.
He knows he doesn’t know.
“The world ended when it happened to me.”
He knows that he doesn’t think about the day he died. Not as much as Katsuki at least. For Katsuki, that day was like the world shifting into place - an eclipse with the cogs turning and the sound of a lock clicking open in his head. Everything made so much sense.
To add to the pile of things he’s never told Izuku - when he woke up after dying, when he woke up knowing the last thoughts he’d ever think, in the last moments he’d ever breathe, were spent thinking of Izuku, his life’s purpose made sense.
He’d always thought it was being a hero. He’d always thought it was winning. He’d always thought it was being Number 1.
And then he realized what he was without Izuku; how empty and lonely it would feel to be a second without him - to forever have to part with him and never see him again. He realized his life’s purpose was being at Izuku’s side, or even better yet - chasing after his heels until the day they die.
The day they die together.

Trinkets Of Desire
Izuku stood outside the small school hut of the village, watching and counting as his students trickled into the hut. He pulls his shawl closer to his body as there's a soft chill in the air. It is the first sign that the summer was coming to an end, it also meant the annual mating run would start soon.
The village will be buzzing in preparation. Izuku was not looking forward to it.
When Izuku entered his classroom all the pups were loudly chattering, excitement buzzing in their barely there scents.
"What's got you all worked up?" Izuku asks as he looks around his class with a small smile.
One of his students raises her hand, "What's a mating run?"
"Oh I know! I know" another shouted so he nodded allowing them to answer, "Its when a soon to be mated couple chase each other into the woods!"
"No its when an alpha chases his soon to be mate into the woods" Another shouts
"My dam says omegas chase their mate" another says
The class turns to their teacher, "Well, which one of us is right, Sensei?"
Izuku smiles and decides to toss out his lesson about the changing seasons to discuss the mating run. He beckons the pups to sit on the rug with him and he waits till they are all sitting.
"Technically you all are" He says and then giggles when the children groan "The mating run is for anyone who wants to become with their special someone. Secondary genders do not matter really, but typically in other villages alphas will chase their chosens into the woods."
"Our village is different isn't it?" A pup with brown hair says "We have different rules"
Izuku smiles brightly and nods, "It's an omega's choice. They do the chasing."
The classroom fills with 'Oohs' and 'Ahhs'.
Every year Izuku's village has a mating run at the end of summer. Alphas give their chosen omega a scented, wearable trinket; a scarf, shirt, a blanket. The omega will wear said trinket to the mating run as a way to represent their chosen alpha and find them in the woods.
The mating run takes place during the last week of summer, prior to that the alphas get a three day head start to get into the woods, set up camp and wait till their chosen one either finds them and spend the week mating/bonding OR their chosen does not choose them and they leave the woods unmated and maybe a bit heartbroken.
They'd have to try again next year, you know, so long as they dont react badly to the rejection. It doesn't happen often but when it does, an alpha is banned from the mating run for the next year.
Some omegas received many trinkets from many different suitors, others received one from the alpha they've been courting. Mating runs are not JUST for courting couples or the unmated. It is also seen as a sport for already mated couples to grow closer, it's really sweet to see an older couple getting ready to do a mating run.
Keeps the magic alive you know.
Originally the mating run was just for natives /only/ but then people would come from all over to participate in the run. The village elders did not see a reason to stop participants as long as they followed the village customs. Plus it brought in trading with all new foot traffic the village thrives greatly this time of year.
"Um Sensei" a student shyly messes with the bottom of their shirt, "How do you know who to choose?"
"You feel it" Izuku says
"Feel it?" The pup echoes
Izuku hums and points to their chest where their heart is, "In here. You'll know the moment you give your chosen a trinket. Or receive one"
The pup beams and Izuku grins.
Truthfully Izuku wouldn't know. He is /never/ participated in a run before despite the many suitors he gets every year. It's really sweet when all these shy alphas come and leave him trinkets or hand them to him with blush high on their cheeks, stammering through a statement about how they hope he chooses them.
He always feels really bad when the end of the week comes and he is handing trinket after trinket back to the suitors. Technically he doesn't have to return them, they were given to him with the purpose of being woven into his nest hopefully. The trinkets are /his/ but Izuku never feels right keeping them.
'It gives them too much hope if I keep them' Izuku said once to a village elder when they asked why he spent so much time giving the trinkets back with an apology.
It'd be better for the alphas to give up on him, find someone who wanted to be mated. But some alphas no matter how many times they get rejected, they try /every year/.
Rejection makes them determined.
A student raises their hand but shouts their question out anyway, "Because our village is an omega choice, is that why old man Yagi never got mated?"
"Yes! Some omegas decide that they don't have an alpha or to be mated. And that's perfectly okay" Izuku informs.
"Are you /never/ going to get mated Sensei?" Another asks
Izuku's cheeks go up in flames from embarrassment, "I- well- you see-"
"I'M NEVER GONNA RUN FOR ALPHAS" A student jumps and yells "THEY'RE GROSS"
This starts an up roar of yelling and for once Izuku is grateful for. Izuku wouldn't know how to explain himself.
The village thinks Izuku is going to be like Toshinori Yagi, the oldest unmated omega in the village. He is a little inclined to agree, he doesn't have an interest in having an alpha and being mated. He prefers teaching the youth, being there for his village and people.
Izuku is /happy/ with his little life.
The day drags on and the pups learn about their village's mating run and customs. Some students can't wait for their turn to run and others are determined to not participate /ever/.
Izuku giggles as he claps his hands to gather the children's attention, "Okay pups! Time to head home!"
"Okay Sensei!" The class says in unison.
Izuku walks toward the hut door to find an alpha standing there. Izuku recognizes him, he helped the alpha's older sister give birth to her first pup during the winter.
"F-for y-ou" the alpha stammers thrusting a neatly wrapped rabbit pelt into Izuku's hands. Blush high on his cheeks "I hope you chose me"
Izuku grasps the pelt and says, "You know you'll be getting this back as soon as the run ends, right?"
The alpha looks at him in the eyes, "Maybe this year you run."
Izuku knows what the alpha means, what he hopes for.
'Maybe this year you run for me'.
Izuku wont. He /knows/ he won't but that doesnt matter to the alpha.
The alpha holds hope.
Izuku's students squeal with excitement having witnessed the interaction. The green haired omega simply shakes his head at his class before sending them on their merry little way.
And so it begins. Another season of the mating run.
- - - -
Hizashi, a village elder watches with a grin as an alpha gives Izuku the first trinket of the mating run season.
He taps his mate Shouta, "Sho look!"
The alpha who was resting with his head in his omega's lap, cracks an eye open to watch the interaction, "Already? Its just got a little cold today"
Hizashi snorts, "It's never too early"
Shouta turns over burying his face in his mate's stomach, "Tell Toshinori to get the good wine ready"

× × ×
"I swear this is the right place" Denki says, staring at his map, he twists it to one side then the other. He even squints, "it's supposed to be-"
"DOES THIS LOOK LIKE THE ENCHANTED FOREST TO YOU?" Katsuki shouts pointing toward the heavily decorated entrance of a small village
"Well no b-but" Denki pauses tilts his head as he stares at his map "Oh man Bakubro you'll never believe this"
Katsuki squints and Denki turns the map right side up.
"I had the map upside down!" The blonde omega turns the map around to show his pack leader with nervous laughter.
Katsuki roars only in the way an annoyed alpha can. Denki yelps like a scared dog and dashes behind the only other alpha in their small little pack.
"MINA SAVE ME" He yells
Mina pinches the bridge of her nose and takes a deep breath. They've been traveling for ages looking for this enchanted forest that holds this enchanted sword or whatever the hell thing their leader is looking for. He swears this is what he needs for his 'wandering journey'.
See in their tribe when a pup hits a certain age, they go on a wandering journey. To, you know, find themselves, find what guides them, what drives them. You know, have an epiphany of sorts.
Mina thinks it's more metaphorical than literal.
"Why don't we calm down, yeah?" Hanta says pushing out his muted chamomile scent. As a beta he scent isn't strong but it does the trick to weave the tension out of his pack members. "Look let's go into village, find a travelers tavern, bunker down for the night and figure out our next steps in the morning"
Eijirou, the other omega in the pack, slaps a hand on Katsuki's shoulder, "Yeah come on! Im /starving/"
Katsuki doesn't say anything, well not anything audible. He grumbles and shoves Eijirou's hand off his shoulder but leads his pack into the small village. They follow behind him eagerly and quickly, best not to piss off their already irritated alpha.
The village is bustling with noise, people carrying flowers, baskets and all sorts of decorations. It takes the pack 20 minutes to gain someone's attention to ask about a tavern and another 10 to gain the barkeep's attention to ask for a room to stay in.
"One room?" The barkeep says eyeing the pack of 5 "You sure? The rooms are a little small. We can give you two so you guys can stretch out a little"
"One room" Katsuki says with finality in his voice.
They are in a new, unfamiliar place, it's best they stick together.
Mina drapes herself over Katsuki and pinches his cheek, "One room works great! Our pack leader likes us to be close"
Katsuki snarls but doesn't bother shoving her off or denying the claim. So what if he does? What kind of leader would he be if he let something happen to his pack?
The barkeep laughs and nods, "that's a good pack leader"
"The best!" His pack says in unison.
He does not preen nor blush over the praise.
That's stupid.
The barkeep sets the pack up in their biggest room. Which isn't much bigger than the rest but they have enough space that they aren't stepping on each other. After settling in they head back down into the tavern for a quick meal and some information fishing.
"I wonder what's got this village so excited," Denki says watching as two omegas giggle amongst themselves.
"Isn't it a little too early for an autumn festival?" Eijirou questions sliding into his seat next to his mate- Mina, at the table.
Katsuki shrugs, "Different places gots different customs and culture"
Still the buzz of the village peaks the pack's curiosity.

Today's the day!
The sun is shining!
The mating run season is upon the village and Hitoshi has purchased his trinket for his chosen.
It is a simple shawl, black lace with hand embroidered flowers that grow naturally around their village. It is neatly folded, thoroughly scented and neatly topped with a purple ribbon.
He is sure his chosen will love it.
"Good luck," the shopkeep says with a soft smile as Hitoshi leaves.
"Thank you!" Hitoshi replies before leaving.
The lavender haired alpha quickly makes his way through the village toward the school hut. It's a little early in the morning and the village pups are most likely on their way to the school.
But the earlier the better. Hitoshi wants to be the first to give Izuku a trinket today.
"Young Hitoshi!" Someone calls out to him.
He turns to find old man Yagi looking at him with a smile.
Hitoshi bows his head as one does to the village elders, "Good morning Yagi”
Yagi points to his trinket, "For Izuku?"
Hitoshi feels the blush rise high on his cheeks. He is a little embarrassed that everyone knows who he is going to give his trinket to. But he guesses when you gift to the same person for several years, it is not hard to put two and two together.
"I have a /good feeling/ about this year," Hitoshi says with a smile.
Yagi laughs happily, "Well then good luck to you my boy"
Then Hitoshi is on his merry little way. He is just a few feet away from the school hut, he can see Izuku's green curls bouncing as he speaks to the pups that enter when Hitoshi is /smacked/ with the scent of apple maple.
His head turns to follow the scent, his eyes finding a blonde haired omega with a smile like the sun and a laugh like bells.
Suddenly the trinket in his hand feels /wrong/.
He needs to do /better/.
- - - -
The barkeep wipes down the counter as he converses with the small pack of five.
"Does the mating run bring you lot here?" The barkeep asks, eyeing the fact that there are three unmated members in this pack.
"The mating run?" Mina echoes
"Is that what has the village so lively?" Denki questions
The barkeep nods, "it's a special time for our village"
"Aww a mating run" Mina cooes wrapping her arms around Eijirou "I want /us/ to do mating run"
Eijirou laughs leaning into his alpha's touch, "Why? We are already mated"
Mina rubs her cheeks against his, "Oh but I want to chase you into the woods. Follow your scent wherever you lead me /my love/"
"Even if I lead you to the ends of the earth?" Eijirou questions turning his face so their noses brush
"Even then".
Katsuki rolls his eyes at the display.
Gross those two are. Cute but gross, no shame at all to make such declarations in public.
"Sorry little alpha" The bar keep says, "its omega's choice"
This peaks Katsuki's interest but he does not show it. Most villages alpha's do the chasing so this is /new/ for him and his pack.
"Omega's choice?" Hanta questions
"Alphas gotta give their chosen omegas scented trinkets so if the omega choses them. They follow the scent into the woods" The bar keep says leaning on the counter, "alphas gotta go three days ahead, find camp and hope their chosen chooses them"
Mina squeals, "Oh I love this /even more/! Can already mated pairs do the run as well?"
"Sure can!" The barkeep replies "as long as you follow our customs. Most mated pairs in the village use this time to grow closer, keep their love alive, you know"
Mina then sets her sights upon her pack leader. And without looking at her Katsuki shakes his head.
"No" he states with no room for argument but it's Mina, she will /make/ room.
"Please please" She begs
"No"
"Oh pleaseee" She clasps her hands together
"Yer already mated pinky!"
"But mated pairs can still join!" She cries "Please Katsuki! Let's stay until after the run! Eijirou help me!"
Oh great. Here we go.
"Please please" The mated pair echoes together. On their knees, hands clasped in prayer motions.
Katsuki stares down at them, "No. We have places to be"
"The enchanted forest might not even be /real/" Eijirou says which earns him a glare "Plus it would take us weeks to travel, since Denki read the map wrong"
"Hey!" Denki whines
"We've never did proper courting" Eijirou says "We didn't get /our/ mating ritual"
Which is true they did not. They didn't have /time/ for proper courting and a mating ritual, they all came of age around the same time and had to leave their tribe for their wandering journeys.
Separately. For the first time in all their lives their little pack was going to be without each other.
They agreed to meet up during the winter up north to see how far anyone had gotten in their journeys. Hanta had found himself learning different languages across the land, Denki had learned to become a healer with natural herbs and things of the land. Mina found herself training under a great warrior and learned to wield /any/ weapon.
That winter Eijirou had taken too long to meet up with them. A bad storm had set in and Mina had grown anxious waiting for him, so she went to look for him. Found him half buried in the snow and /freezing/.
She thought- they all thought he was going to die.
When Eijirou came too, she waited no time to ask to become mates.
So no they didn't properly court or have a mating ritual.
"Please! Ill-" Mina hugs her omega to her side We'll never ask for anything /ever again/."
Katsuki crosses his arms, "You ask for me shit all the time!"
"No but this time I'm /serious/! I wont ask!" Mina pleads.
Katsuki stares down at his pack mates, the word no on the tip of his tongue. They all completed their journeys, but Katsuki is /still/ wandering.
He is still /searching./
Hanta wraps his arms around his pack leader, "Come on pack leader! Who knows! Maybe you'll find something you are searching for"
Maybe the whole time, the thing he is searching for, is being the best pack leader he can be.
Katsuki side-eyes him. Eijirou's words of how the enchanted forest might not even be real ring loudly in his head.
Maybe this is where his journey leads him.
Katsuki sighs, "Fine. We'll stay till after the run"
The pack cheers and the barkeep laughs as they pull their leader into a tight embrace. While the pack learns of the rules and customs of this village about the mating run, Katsuki exits the tavern for some much needed air.
Katsuki watches the villagers bustle about, pups running and playing. As he takes a deep breath the scent of fresh pine dances under his nose, Katsuki lifts his head and opens his mouth slightly to huff in the air.
Scenting it. Something /deep inside/ of him stirrs.
- - - -
"Sensei" A pup giggles behind her hand "there is a shy alpha following you"
Izuku does not fully look over his shoulder, just tilts his head slightly. It's enough for him to catch the light blonde spikes hiding behind a hut.
It's that traveler alpha, word around the village is that his small pack is staying in the village for the mating run so that the mated pair in his pack can have their own mating ritual.
It's sweet, noble even of a pack leader to do such a thing.
But he has been trailing behind Izuku for a few days now. He thinks Izuku hasn't noticed but he isn't that /very good/ at being stealthy. It makes Izuku laugh a little, despite him wishing that alpha would leave him alone.
"I see," Izuku says to the pup, "Silly alpha huh?"
The pup nods and leans closer like she is telling a Izuku a secret and giggles, "He is very handsome"
Izuku just smiles and ruffles the pup's hair before sending her on her way home. Izuku then locks up the school hut and makes his way toward the market, mentally making a list of things he needs.
He is picking through spices when one of Hitoshi- an alpha Izuku has known for a long time, mothers calls his name.
It is his dam.
"Izuku, Izuku" The dark haired woman calls "Hitoshi is hurt"
"Hurt?" He echoes looking toward her.
She nods and frantically points to where Hitoshi sits on the floor, grasping his knee with his sire standing over him. Without any more questions Izuku follows the omega toward her son.
"Just put dirt in it! You'll be fine!" Hitoshi's sire says
"Please" Hitoshi says, eyes darting to and fro, high blush on his cheeks, "leave. You are embarrassing /me/"
"You are the one yelling about needing a healer" His sire replies waving her hand about before leaning closer to inspect her pup, "Tis is but a scratch"
Izuku crouches, "what seems to be the problem?"
"I-zuku" Hitoshi stammers, whipping his head around so fast, Izuku leans back to avoid getting slapped by the alpha's single beaded braid.
Hitoshi's sire and dam subtly bump fist as if what they were attempting has succeeded.
Izuku curiously eyes Hitoshi and watches as the alpha squirms. His lilac eyes never meet Izuku's green ones but his gaze forever falls in one place. On one thing, one person, one omega.
Izuku follows that gaze to find the electric blonde from the traveling pack,- Kaminari if Izuku remembers correctly. He helped one of the pups when they had scraped their knee climbing trees.
He is a healer, a skilled one.
Kaminari's eyes flick toward the scene while keeping the conversation with one of villager's going. It doesn't take long for Izuku to piece together what is happening, Hitoshi's sire and dam have read the situation wrong but Izuku has not.
Izuku stands dusting himself off before approaching Kaminari.
"Hi- excuse me" Izuku says smiling softly
Kaminari looks at Izuku and returns the smile, "Hello! Midoriya right?"
Izuku nods, "I know you are offly busy right now but my friend-" he points to Hitoshi who quickly turns his head away as his cheeks become redder "Has injured himself, the village healer is a long walks away from the market. I was wondering if you could help him as you did for one of my students"
Kaminari looks at Hitoshi, his nose flaring in obvious scenting before looking back at Izuku. "I would love to help!"
"That's great! Come with me!" Izuku replies, smiling big.
The two omegas walk back to Hitoshi, who flushes when the blonde omega squats to get a better look at him. Izuku giggles to himself as he watches the alpha stumble over his words. Then he takes his leave to finish his shopping.
He hopes Hitoshi gives the omega a trinket.
They are cute together.

× × ×
Katsuki would hate to admit it outloud, /especially/ to Hanta of all people. But he thinks he found what he has been /searching/ for in this village.
He remembers when he left his tribe for his journey. Katsuki had asked his sire what he was looking for when he left.
"Youll know" His dam replied as she ruffled his hair.
"How" he questioned
His sire and dam smiled at him and his sire said, "You'll feel it. In your heart".
So correction, he /does not/ think he found what he has been looking for.
He /knows/ he found it.
Katsuki knows because his inner alpha howls in excitement when he smells that fresh pine scent. The way his heart picks up speed when he sees those green curls.
Katsuki knows because whenever he imagines the future now, he isn't unsure of where he'll be.
Katsuki /wants/ to be by his side.
The omega doesnt even know Katsuki exists.
Katsuki bites back a whine as he watches the omega receive /another/ trinket from another alpha.
It's the fifth one today. Katsuki can't even count the many he has received in the many days before.
Katsuki's inner alpha whines and claws to escape, to offer himself to the omega.
"What are you doing?" Mina questions from behind Katsuki who definitely doesn't jump ten feet in the air.
"Nothing!" Katsuki says, eyes narrowing at her, "What are /you/ doing?"
Mina adjusts the pack on her back and nods her head toward the woods, "Gotta set up camp. The mating run starts tomorrow"
Katsuki is only half listening, eyes still trained on the green haired omega.
"How does one enter the run" Katsuki questions, not looking at Mina.
Katsuki has never wanted a mate but then again Katsuki has never met someone who is so devoted to their people. Someone smelled of /home/ and who seemed to breathe life into everyone around them.
He breathed life into Katsuki and he doesn't even know the omega's /name/.
Katsuki has never wanted a mate more than he does right now.
Mina tilts her head, watching the forlonging look on her pack leader's face, not yet seeing /who/ the look was directed at. "Well you give your chosen, a scented trinket. Then you head into the woods, set camp and hope that your chosen finds you."
Katsuki doesn't respond, watching as the object of his affections laughs at something a pup is saying to him. The wind carries the sound to his ears, making his inner alpha pur at the sound.
"If i were you" Mina says softly, "I wouldn't waste my time. Izuku does not enter runs, all the alphas that have given him trinkets are going to be rejected in the end."
Izuku.
A beautiful name. For a beautiful omega.
"It's what the villagers say. But" Mina starts and leans closer to her leader "Maybe he is waiting for the right alpha"
Finally Katsuki looks at his pack mate, she smiles softly at him, knowingly at him.
"There's a trinket shop in the village. Half price for unmated alphas" She says adjust her pack once before starting to walk away. "Today is the last day to give an omega a trinket. So you best get going now, if you are gonna"
Then Mina is gone as fast as she came, her words echoing in Katsuki's head.
The /right/ alpha. Maybe Katsuki is the right alpha.
- - - -
Izuku is helping the elders set up the village square for the mating run, adding the last flowers to the pillars. When something /heavy/ is suddenly dropped on his shoulders, making him hunch slightly.
When Izuku turns his head his nose gets buried into the fur lining. Izuku's eyes flutter close when the scent of burning cedarwood, sweet yet smokey. It fills his senses and makes his inner omega pur.
He has /never/ smelled an alpha like this.
Izuku's eyes open and he watches at the traveler alpha's back as he heads into the woods with red ears and pack slung over one shoulder. He doesnt turn around to look at Izuku, he doesn't /even/ say a word.
Izuku pulls the cape off his shoulders and clutches it to his chest. He stands there staring even long after the alpha is gone. Those around Izuku whisper but he can't hear them over the thunderous beat that is his heart.
He has never participated in the runs before but why does he have the urge now?
- - - -
Denki ran his fingers over the woven bracelet an alpha had given him, making the cinnamon scent waft around him as he headed to the village square. He found so much comfort in the scent, and he /really/ liked the alpha who had given it to him.
Today is the second day of the mating run. Most omegas already headed out into the woods yesterday. But Denki wasn't sure if this trinket was a joke or not, alphas don't tend to /really like/ him.
He has too much spunk, he is too smart and outspoken for them.
"You are pretty to look at" An alpha had told him once "But you have too much... /personality/ if you know what i mean"
No. Denki didn't know what she meant. Was he a little loud? Energetic sure but Denki didn't think that meant he had 'too much personality'. Katsuki and Mina almost tore that alpha to pieces for hurting his feelings.
Some alphas wanted an omega who was soft spoken, fun to look at and who are submissive. Denki /isnt/ any of those things, so when that purple haired alpha with the pretty tired eyes had given him the bracelet. He thought it was a /joke/ but Hanta pointed out it was hand-made if it was a joke no alpha would go through the effort.
Denki figured Hanta was right or at least Denki was /really/ hoping he was.
When Denki reaches the square he notices two things:
1) The square of the village was decorated beautifully, fire torches lit it up with gentle flames, flowers and vines decorated the pillars. Happy scents of omegas and the villagers filled the area.
2) Midoriya.
The green haired omega paced back and forth in the square, he held Katsuki's cape tightly.
"Pack leader" Denki whispers to himself with a smile as he watches "You sly dog".
Midoriya paces forward like he is going to go into the woods. Denki wills him too, he has never seen his pack leader so smitten with someone. He has only interacted with Midoriya a handful of times but he feels like he and Katsuki would make a great pair.
Then the omega turns around and quickly leaves the square, Denki pouts for a moment before heading into the woods himself. There are many scents muddled and mixed in the woods, Denki scrunches his nose and turns his head because of how overwhelmed he is getting.
As he walks into the woods, he notes that some alphas have set up camp not that deep into the woods. Which would be /absolutely/ insulting (because not setting up camp deep in the woods meant you didn't trust your chosen to find you) if it weren't for the fact that they are /older alphas/, they smile and nod at Denki as he passes by.
One alpha already has his omega sitting beside him as he cooks fish.
"It feels like our first run" the older omega says scenting their alpha.
Denki smiles, he hopes to grow old like that with /his/ alpha. But first he has to find him, Denki's inner omega urging him to be quick.
/Hitoshi Hitoshi Hitoshi/
It chants.
Denki brings his wrist to his nose and takes a deep sniff, then he turns his nose to the air.
Passion fruit mixed with chili pepper - No that's Mina and Eijirou
Burned cedarwood- Katsuki.
Denki picks up a million other scents as he walks before the cinnamon scent curls under his noses and leads him to the left. He walks by a tree stump and the scent is a little /stronger/ but not overpowering.
"This way" He says to himself, "He is this way"
The faint scent is like breadcrumbs. Soft enough that if you /aren't/ scenting for  that specific smell you'll miss it.
Denki loses Hitoshi's scent in the midst of another scent, /really strong/ scent. It makes Denki cough as he pushes a branch out his way. An angry omega pushes past him, grumbling to herself.
"How dare she" She mutters "Heavily scenting as if i wouldnt be able to /find her/"
Denki winces as she stomps away. That /is/ also considered insulting, heavily scenting the area. The subtle scenting is fine, a small guide for your chosen but heavy scenting is to say you don't find your chosen strong enough, good enough to find you on scent alone.
Denki feels bad for the omega and the alpha. He hopes they can work it out for next year.
It's nightfall  when Denki reaches the area where Hitoshi's scent is strongest. He can smell the crackling of a fire along with Hitoshi's scent, feeling way too excited to walk.
He runs.
Happy chirps escaping his mouth as he does so. His inner omega purring happily as Hitoshi's scent becomes stronger. Denki can just hear the crackling campfire before he slides into a small clearing, running right into the alpha's back.
The alpha stumbles before turning around with a slight growl that dies when his eyes land on Denki.
"You came," Hitoshi whispers in awe, cheeks turning pink.
Denki holds up his wrist to show off the bracelet and breathlessly replies, "You asked me to"
"Yeah but you /chose/ me"
"Who else would I choose?"
- - - -
Katsuki looks around his campsite and chuffs proudly when he has determined that it is /perfect/ for his chosen. Unlike a lot of the alphas in these woods, Katsuki didn't make his camp a big 'I AM HERE' sign, did not alter or change what is around either.
His campsite blends in perfectly with the landscape around him.
It's something Katsuki believes Izuku will greatly appreciate. They have everything they could need in this small corner of the woods.
Now it is just the matter of /waiting/.
Katsuki would /love/ to pretend he isn't worried but he is.
And as the days go on and Izuku is a no show. Katsuki begins to wonder if he was too bold, wonder if he had made the right decision.
Slowly Katsuki tries to accept, he /was not/ chosen.
- - - -
It's the second to last day of the run, tomorrow at nightfall all the couples and the unmated alphas will leave the woods signaling the end of the season. There will be a feast, music and everyone will celebrate the end of the summer season.
Izuku clutches the cape in his hands and paces in the square /again/. He has done this everyday since the alpha dropped it on to his shoulders. His inner omega urges him to follow, to find the alpha but he, /himself/ struggles with this desire.
Izuku is /happy/ with his life. He loves helping his village, teaching the pups. He doesn't feel as though he is lacking in life, that something is missing. He doesn't wish for a life of adventure or that he was meant for more.
Izuku in his heart of hearts he knows that the life he leads is a /good one/, a fulfilled one. He doesn't feel like he /needs/ a mate and yet...
Izuku thinks he might /want/ one.
Izuku whines pitifully before turning and leaving the square. He can't go into the woods because he /thinks/ he wants a mate, that alpha at least deserves a solid answer. He deserves an omega who is /sure/ they want to be with him and mated.
Old man Yagi watches Izuku leave the square, shoulders hunched and a pained look on his face. He knows the young omega is /struggling/, every year Izuku rejects the alphas with ease. Only ever setting foot in the square the final day to wait for the alphas to return their trinkets
But this year, /something/ had happened because everyday Izuku was in the square with a red cape in his grasp and he paced. Somedays Yagi thought he was going to go into the woods and then others he thought Izuku wasn't.
This year Izuku was battling between what he /wanted/ versus what he /already has/.
Good life. That could be greater if he just /listened/.
"Yagi drink up!" Hizashi yells sliding a cup to him "Izuku is 100% gonna reject all the alphas"
Yagi's hand curls around the cup but his eyes follow Izuku. Yagi abandons the cup and chases after Izuku, despite the game he and the other elders created.
They all wanted to see Izuku happy. So seeing him so distressed and torn was heartbreaking.
"Young Izuku" Yagi calls making Izuku turn around
"Yagi" Izuku says "How can I help you today?"
Yagi gives him a small smile, "Are you okay?"
Izuku forces a smile, "Im fine"
Yagi doesn't believe him, Izuku can tell in the way the older omega's eyes soften.
"Can I give you some advice? Omega to omega?" Yagi questions
"Of course"
"Whatever you desire. It can only add to whatever you feel on the /inside/. It can't give you something you don't /already have/" Yagi places a gentle hand on Izuku's shoulder, "Let your heart guide you."
Izuku stares at the older omega, slightly stunned. "R-right. Thankyou Yagi"
"Of course my boy" He replies, "just want to see you happy"
Later that night Izuku tosses and turns in his nest. Sleep evaded him, so he figured sleeping in his nest would bring comfort, ease his inner omega enough that he could sleep.
But it proved to be futile.
The scent of burning cedarwood calls to him. The red cape is in whole another room in Izuku's hut, his bedroom door is /closed/ and the scent still reaches him. Old man Yagi's words play in his head on a loop. His inner omega begging for Izuku to /just listen/.
Izuku is happy with his life. But the longer he thinks about Yagi's words and what /he/ feels.
Izuku realizes his desire will only /add/ to his already happy life.
And there is nothing wrong with being /extra happy/.
With that in mind Izuku packs a small bag, grabs the cape wrapping it around his shoulders and heads into the woods.
The moon is at its highest when Izuku leaves his hut. It's late and no one is in the square, the torches light the area in case someone either returned early or decides /last minute/ to enter the run.
The woods are a mix of many scents but mainly the scent of mating. It is so /strong/ that it could make a village priest blush. Izuku is sure his cheeks are bright red and he has to turn his nose into the fur collar of the cape to block it out. So late in the run, it's going to be difficult to track /his/ alpha.
But /not/ impossible.
Izuku walks further into the woods, using the scents around to avoid stumbling on to a mating couple. That would be bad for many reasons but mainly how territorial a mating couple could be even if this isn't their nest/den.
Izuku stops walking when the faint scent of the alpha's wraps around his nose and leads him to the right. In the distance he can see a campfire burning so he heads that way, but as he gets closer he realizes the scent is /all wrong/.
The alpha stands up, excited and breathes "Izuku"
It's the alpha that had given Izuku the very first trinket of the season. Not that the green haired omega is /actually/ paying attention to him.
"Wrong" Izuku mutters absent-mindedly as he sniffs the air.
The alpha makes a face and right before he can even approach, Izuku catches the cedarwood scent again and takes off in a sprint. It's /stronger/ which means he is getting closer, he has no idea the way he has broken the other alpha's heart.
The scent leads Izuku /extremely/ deep into the woods which makes Izuku swell with excitement like he is on the tip of something /new/. Izuku giggles to himself when the scent is thickest and strongest in a cave.
"Silly alpha" Izuku huffs with a smile.
The heavy scenting by the cave says two things to Izuku.
1) that he is definitely close to where the alpha has set up camp.
2) The alpha has a sense of humor. By heavily scenting the cave, he was hoping to trip Izuku up as if Izuku would fall for that.
He /knows/ the alpha isn't in there.
A little further from the cave the land dips and if you haven't been in these woods before because of the amount of foliage you'd slip and fall and maybe break something. Izuku crouches, letting one hand slow his descent by dragging in the dirt as he slides down and into the surrounding area.
Izuku makes note of the river that flows off to his left and of all the willow trees. It makes this part of the woods look like something out of fairytales. Like something out the stories old man Yagi used to tell when Izuku was a pup. Its almost daybreak which means Izuku doesnt have much time to linger and take in this beauty.
But he /loves/ the area his alpha has chosen for their run.
The shadows of the night slowly recede as the sun slowly kisses the horizon. It's taken Izuku all night to find /his alpha/ but he finally did it. The alpha's scent is the thickest by two willow trees that lean toward each other, creating almost an arch-way, their leaves draping down nearly like curtains.
Izuku pushes the leaves out the way, stepping into a campsite that if it wasn't  for the last embers of a fire burning and an empty meat drying rack that has been built, you wouldn't even know someone was camping here. Everything in this area is untouched, it's obvious the alpha did his best to leave nature as is.
It warms Izuku's heart to know that alpha trusted him enough to find on scent alone. That the alpha believed that Izuku could, that he didn't need excessive scenting or a campsite that screamed 'Here' for him to find it.
Feeling giddy and ready to start on this  journey of newfound happiness, he searches for the blonde alpha. But the alpha isn't here and Izuku's inner omega whines.
"He is not here?" He wonders outloud, "Did he leave already?"
Izuku sits on a log by the dying fire, doubts filling his head.
He was foolish.
Foolish to follow his omega, to follow his heart, his desire. Adding to his happiness? What a ridiculous idea. This is just what he gets for waiting for so long to make a choice, of course the alpha-
Twigs snap and the sound of fish dropping /hard/ against the ground cause Izuku to whip his head around so quickly he almost falls off the log. There just a short distances away is /the alpha/ that has turned Izuku's whole world upside down simply because he wordless asked;
'Will you join the run for me?'
The alpha stays frozen, like he is too scared to move. Like if he /does/ move Izuku will disappear or get spooked. The omega takes this moment to really /look/ at the alpha.
He is tall and shirtless which shows off his toned muscles and scars that have stories to tell. Izuku wants to run his fingers over them and hear them all, around the alpha's neck is a necklace crafted from teeth and colorful beads. They look tribal and it makes questions dance along Izuku's lips. The alpha's hair catches the morning light and shimmers with it and his red eyes that look as though they were born from fire scan over Izuku.
Their scents fill the area, mixing and blending together creating /something new/. Izuku's eyes flutter close for a moment, taking in the smell that makes his inner omega purr.
/Home/
It says.
The word shakes Izuku to his core but not in fear- in a way that is /right/. There is no other way to describe it, when Izuku opens his eyes they lock on to red. His desire sings in his chest, old man Yagi's words ring in his head,
'It can only add to what you feel on the inside.'
"I believe this is yours" Izuku says, his voice softly dancing across the open area. Breaking whatever trance they were in, whatever trance the alpha was in because he shakes his head slightly.
"What?" He rasps, his voice cracking then he clears his throat. "What's mine?"
Izuku takes a small step forward, gripping the edges of the cape to keep himself grounded. Then shyly Izuku tilts his head, baring his unmarked scent gland to the alpha, "Me".

× × ×
Two years after the mating run
"Kacchan" Izuku calls softly as they make their way out of the small forest. They are just on the outskirts of Katsuki's tribe settlement, Izuku is both excited and nervous it's the first time he'll be meeting Katsuki's parents and tribe.
When the mating run had ended it shocked the village when Izuku had been the /last/ to leave the woods, they hadn't even known he went in. The celebration was in full swing when he exited with a fresh mating bite and proud alpha behind him.
The only one not so shocked was old man Yagi, he simply raised his cup of wine to him and winked.
Katsuki had chosen to stay in the village with Izuku, building a life together there. Izuku had thought that after the alpha would have wanted to leave, travel and go on adventure.
'You are my greatest adventure' the alpha had said.
When Izuku asked Katsuki if he wanted to go back to his tribe, the alpha simply said 'not yet'. He wanted Izuku all to himself, they were supposed to go visit in the spring that first year in time for Katsuki's tribe spring festival but Izuku had gotten pregnant with their first pup.
Now their first pup is almost three years old  and Izuku is pregnant with their second. The omega thought it is a good time as any to visit before he would be too heavily pregnant to travel and before they ended up with an entire litter without Katsuki's parents knowing they were grandparents.
"Hm?" Katsuki hums, adjusting their pup on his shoulders.
The pup- Amaya is what they named her. Is a mix of her parents as far looks go, green curls with streaks of blonde. Wide, round red eyes and freckles beginning to dust her cheeks. Personality wise? She was /all/ Katsuki, they think she'll be an alpha like her sire too.
She has a nasty grip on Katsuki's hair and the alpha was doing his best not to wince, yelp or whine when the pup tugged on the blonde locks in excitement whenever she saw something she thought was cool.
"What if they dont like me?" Izuku says with a pout, his hand slowly coming to rub this small baby bump.
Katsuki rolls his eyes, Izuku has been concerned this /whole/ trip about that. Katsuki doesnt think that there is a single person that could come across Izuku and /not/ like him.
Even /animals/ like Izuku.
"Tch, they like you /more/ than they like me" Katsuki "I promise"
Izuku giggles a little, "That's impossible Kacchan. Everyone /loves/ you, you're amazing"
Katsuki looks over his shoulder at his mate, trying to hide the way praise from him makes Katsuki feel. "Only /you/ think that."
They walk in silence a bit more, aside from the occasional babble from Amaya when she spots a bird flying overhead. Katsuki looks at Izuku and can still see the worry on his mate's face, and can smell it in his scent. Katsuki knows Izuku's overthinking this, he also knows this worries Izuku so much because of hormones.
So the alpha stops, turns and faces Izuku, "You are amazing yourself you know? You are kind and selfless, you are so /smart/. You are an amazing teacher and great dam. The entire village is obsessed with you."
"Kacchan" Izuku whispers, tears lining his eyes. The ever crier his mate is.
"They'll love you. Not as much /me/ of course or Amaya but close enough" Katsuki grins letting one of their pup's feet go to open his arm and invite Izuku in for a hug.
In the middle of the hug and some extra scenting to ground Izuku. Amaya tugs tightly on to her dam's hair.
"AMAYA!" Izuku scolds rubbing his head, before scooping the pup off her sire's shoulders "That's not very nice little lady"
"NICE!" She squeals, slapping his cheeks.
Izuku nuzzles his pup's hands and Katsuki watches fondly, the happy scent of a happy family filling the area.
- - - -
The sun sinks lower in the sky, painting everything in shades of orange and deepening purple. The rich smell of roasting meats and freshly baked bread  drifts through the air as the small family reaches the settlement. When they pass the entrance of the settlement, laughter and lively chatter spill from nearby huts.
"Is that?" Someone says shielding their eyes from the evening sun "IT IS! WHERE'S MITSUKI AND MASARU?!"
Katsuki leans toward Izuku and says, "Here we go. Get ready"
Izuku laughs and smiles cradling a sleeping Amaya to his chest in her baby sling.
"BAKUBROOOOOO" Eijirou shouts running toward them with his arms open trailing behind him are three pups, all varying in height and obviously age.
After the mating run Katsuki's pack had split up. It was tearful- mostly Eijirou as his entire journey had led him to realize he'd rather adventure with his pack than without them, but he also desperately missed his tribe. So he and Mina left, not after adopting three pups that had lost their parents due to hunting accidents. Eijirou couldn't have any pups of his own, something to do with that snow storm he almost died in years ago. But he and Mina are happy with their pups and their new lives.
Denki ended up staying in the village with his mate Hitoshi, this year they will be welcoming their first pup. Although Denki is heavily pregnant and Hitoshi insists they stay in the village, they will be here in a few short days.
Hanta found work in a far away land working in a kingdom as an advisor. With his knowledge of many languages offers great help to the kingdom. Word is Hanta had found himself mated to a mystery prince, they won't be joining the pack this spring season but they'll be around for summer.
"GET OFF ME!" Katsuki shouts, shoving Eijirou away and snarling like a beast.
Izuku giggles while kneeling down so the Ashido pups can get a good look at Amaya.
"She is so chunky" the oldest pup says
"Like a blueberry" the youngest adds, although blueberries aren’t exactly chunky.
"Can I keep her?" The second oldest asks
"You may not keep her" Their sire says from behind them with her arms folded "Sorry Izuku. Dont know whats gotten into that one"
Izuku smiles while packing scenting Mina, "It's fine. They might present as an omega soon. I remember trying to hoard all the younger pups in the village before my presentation"
Before Mina can even reply, Katsuki roars loudly, "PINKY GET YOUR SHITTY MATE BEFORE I CHEW HIS ARM OFF"
Izuku and Mina share a laugh before going to gather their mates.
"Kacchan no biting! That isn't nice! I see where Amaya gets it from" Izuku scolds pulling Katsuki away from Eijirou who is being tugged by Mina and their pups.
"I JUST MISSED YOU BAKUBRO" Eijirou shouts
Katsuki just snarls and grumbles "yeah yeah missed you too".
"All this /noise/" Someone says from above all the commotion "That's definitely /my/ brat"
Then the little crowd parts, an ash blonde omega who looks /exactly/ like Katsuki is walking toward them with a brown haired alpha behind her. It's obvious these are Katsuki's dam and sire, Mitsuki and Masaru.
Mitsuki stops in front of them, her eyes dancing between Katsuki and Izuku, their pup and Izuku's baby bump.
"Jeez Brat" She says "You didn't even let him rest after the first pup?"
Katsuki looks scandalized at the accusation and shouts "HE JUMPED ME!"
Izuku blushes furiously as Masaru cooes over Amaya who is slowly waking up.
"Would you like to hold her?" Izuku questions
"May I?" Masaru replies with a soft smile.
Izuku nods, pulling Amaya from the sling and handing her to her grand-sire.
"You know son" Masaru starts as he lightly pack scents Amaya, "Most return from their journeys with new skills, knowledge-"
"Hell, even a rock" Mitsuki adds and Masaru laughs and nods.
"But you returned with a /beautiful/ family" Masaru says.
Katsuki chuffs proudly with a cocky grin on his face and pulls Izuku to his side.
"Fuck yeah I did" Katsuki says.
Izuku just looks around, taking in the sights, the sounds, and the scents that surround him with a large smile on his face. His inner omega purrs in pure happiness, his heart filling full with unshakeable happiness.
Desires cannot give you what you don't already have.
They can only add to it.

The routine settled over the pack. Bakugo’s gaze was still locked on Todoroki, a quiet blaze simmering behind his crimson eyes. His nostrils flared as he exhaled sharply through his nose, muttering a curse under his breath. Then he turned on his heel and stomped toward the kitchen while the floor creaked under the weight of his steps. Only then did Izuku realize he’d been holding his breath. He hadn’t known what to expect, an explosion, maybe. A barked insult. A demand, raw and unfiltered, tearing through the tension like Bakugo always did. His blonde mate had come dangerously close to snapping more than once in the past few days. Izuku had seen the storm brewing behind his eyes, but he understood. Bakugo wasn’t just angry. He missed him. They all did.
It had been less than a month since the incident, but it felt like an eternity since Todoroki had really looked any of them in the eyes. Since their fingers found each other in the quiet, without needing words. Sometimes they didn’t speak at all. Just sat like that, fingers laced, listening to the distant sounds of life moving around them. And every time Todoroki’s thumb rubbed small, absent circles into Izuku’s palm, it made something bloom behind his ribs. Gentle, deep and steady. He missed that. He missed the way Todoroki’s smile started small, barely a twitch of the lips, and then slowly bloomed. He missed his mate’s scent too. Even that had changed.
It used to be crisp, like the first bite of winter wind. Sweet golden honey layered over frostbitten berries. Now, it clung to the corners of the room in an unfamiliar way. Weakened. Clouded and Muddied. The sweetness had gone stale, eaten away by something bitter and wrong.
Despite being lost in his reminiscence and thoughts, Izuku caught movement from the corner of his eye. Kirishima was hovering near Todoroki. He stood there for a moment, then, gently, he stepped forward and hesitantly, he reached out, offering a gentle pat to Todoroki’s shoulder, with an expression armed with an encouraging smile. It wasn’t much. The touch was clumsy, uncertain and somewhat awkward. But it was kind, it was sweet, simple, and Izuku felt his chest warmed at the sight of it.
Though, Todoroki didn’t react, didn’t lean in the touch. The hand on his shoulder might as well have belonged to a ghost. Kirishima’s hopeful smile faltered, his brows pinched slightly dejected by the quiet rejection as he withdrew his hand. Not with anger or frustration, just defeat. He lingered a second longer in the room, then pulled his hand back and walked away, retreating quietly to his room.

Almost an hour later, Izuku was still staring blankly at the corner of the coffee table when Bakugo’s voice cut through the apartment.
“Dinner’s on the damn table!” Bakugo yelled from the kitchen.
Izuku moved without thinking to the dinner table, guided by habit more than appetite. He slipped into his usual seat at the table, and a moment later, Kirishima walked in, dragging his feet and sat without a word. But no sign of Todoroki coming.
Bakugo waited exactly thirty seconds before gritting out, “You’ve gotta be fucking kidding me.”
Sandals thudded against the hallway floor as he left the dinner table. A few seconds passed. Then the sound of footsteps again, two sets. Bakugo returned with Todoroki in tow, gripping his wrist in a firm hold. He dragged him to the table and sat him down in a chair, and shoved the waiting plate in front of him with a hard clatter.
“Eat,” he snapped. His gaze said the rest: Don’t you dare fucking leave.
Dinner didn’t get any better after this small « commotion ». It was stir-fried beef and vegetables over rice. Nothing fancy. The kind of meal Bakugo threw together on autopilot. It smelled good and tasted even better, savory, filling, beef and vegetables coated with a delicious garlic soy sauce, but the tension hanging over the table turned every bite into a lump down Izuku’s throat, even more when he noticed that Todoroki only picked at his plate.
Eventually, and thankfully, a part of him thought, plates ended up emptied. Except for Todoroki’s, which still looked mostly untouched. Bakugo loudly put down his chopsticks, and stood suddenly, scraping his chair back with a screech. He picked up his plate and everyone’s but Todoroki, and put them in the kitchen sink.
« I’ll do the dish kacchan. » Izuku said as he got up of his chair but he was stopped in his tracks.
« Sit your ass down Deku. » Bakugo responded without looking back.
Quickly the sound of water and clattering plates filled the silence around them, no one at the table moved. Todoroki was looking blankly at the wall, still distant and cold while his food was also turning cold. Izuku didn’t dare move after Bakugo told him to sit down, and Kirishima was just sitting there, arm crossed, lost in his thoughts. The moment was broken when after a couple of minutes, Bakugo spoke up again.
“I’m done. We’re going out. »
Izuku blinked. “Wait—what? Out? Where? Right now?”
“You heard me,” Bakugo replied. “Get your gym stuff. You too, shitty hair.”
Kirishima hesitated. “I don’t really feel like going out, man.”
“I wasn’t asking.” Bakugo’s voice didn’t rise, but it hardened. “Grab your bag. We’re going.”
Izuku stood slowly, brow furrowed. “Are we training? Or—”
“Stop asking questions, Deku. Just go get your stuff »
Bakugo turned back toward the table, eyes locking on Todoroki.
“What about you?”
His tone shifted. Still hard, but undercut with something else. Not quite hope, but expectation. A challenge he didn’t expect to be met. Daring Todoroki to give a different answer than the one they all expected him to give. But his icy hot mate didn’t even lift his head as he replied.
“You guys go ahead,” he murmured. “I’m too tired.”
A pause followed. Bakugo stared for a beat, his jaw clenched tight, then he scoffed and turned away, before walking out of the dinner room.
Izuku crouched beside Todoroki, speaking softly. “Eat a little more, okay?” he said, brushing a kiss to his cheek. “And try to rest. I’ll check on you when we get back.”
Todoroki only offered the smallest nod as a response, then Izuku rosed to his feet and went in his bed room . His gym bag was already packed and waiting by the door.m so he just slung it over his shoulder and returned to the front door, where the others were getting ready.
Gymn bags by their sides, Bakugo shoved his shoes on while Kirishima, by his side moved slower with his head down and tugged his hoodie over his hair before crouching to tie his laces. Izuku followed their lead and put his own shoes own.
The three stepped out into the cool hallway, and the door clicked shut behind them.
Tumblr media
A sharp chill clung to the night air as the pack, minus one, headed to the car. Bakugo climbed into the driver’s seat without a word, slamming the door hard enough to make the whole frame rattle. Izuku barely had his seatbelt on before the car lurched forward, tires squealing slightly against the pavement.
Katsuki’s grip on the wheel was white-knuckled, his jaw clenched tight as he glared straight ahead. Every time they hit a red light, his fingers tapped out a sharp, impatient rhythm, punctuated by low curses muttered under his breath. The tension radiating off of him was suffocating.
Kirishima sat silently in the backseat, hunched toward the window, his reflection ghosting in the glass. The weight of the past few days still pressed heavily on him. Normally, he’d be the first to crack a joke or throw on a playlist, something loud and chaotic like Raise Your Flag by MAN WITH A MISSION, already queued up to blast through the speakers. He’d sing along loudly, grin and say something stupid like “You have to feel the music in your gut, man!”, and their blonde mate would told him to fuck off with his own matching grin. But tonight, he said nothing.
Izuku sighed, rubbing a hand over his face. He wasn’t sure what Bakugo had planned, but right now, anything was better than whatever they were doing these days.
.
.
.
The gym was dimly lit when they arrived. The stale stench of sweat clung to the concrete walls, mixing with the metallic tang of oxidized iron and chalk dust. The air was thick with a heaviness that settled deep in the lungs. Fluorescent lights flickered overhead, their inconsistent glow casting jagged shadows along the floor and across the rows of reinforced training equipment designed specifically for heroes. Multi-ton treadmills, weighted dummies, resistance fields, climbing towers, everything here catered to quirks, to extremes, to bodies like theirs. In the back stood the fighting ring, scuffed and battered from years of use. Another perk of the job. Izuku knew this gym like the back of his hand. It belonged to the agency him and Bakugo’s worked at, a shared space for all its hero’s with unlimited access. He had trained here, bled here, pushed himself to the brink here but tonight, it felt different. More charged.
Bakugo didn’t speak. He just made a beeline for the locker room, his boots echoing off the concrete. Kirishima and Izuku still followed him without a word. When they returned, changed and dressed down in gym clothes, Bakugo was already in the ring. The ring’s padding creaked beneath his boots as he rolled his shoulders and adjusted his gloves.
The second Kirishima stepped within range, a pair of gloves flew at his chest.
“Put ’em on,” Bakugo rasped.
Kirishima caught them mid-air with a surprised blink. “Don’t we need to warm up, or—?”
“I’m warm enough. Get in the ring.”
Kirishima hesitated only a moment before nodding, stepping between the ropes with a quiet sigh. Izuku hung back, settling near the edge of the ring, his arms crossed. Kirishima squared up in front of Bakugo, falling into a fighting stance with all the enthusiasm of a man going through the motions. His shoulders sagged slightly, his feet were planted on the mat. Bakugo, however, looked like he was seconds away from lunging.
“Ready, shitty hair?”
“Yeah,” Kirishima answered, voice dull. “I’m good.”
But "good" didn’t land the first punch.
Bakugo did. He shot forward like a missile, closing the distance in a single heartbeat. His fist collided with Kirishima’s guard, and the impact echoed through the room like a gunshot. Kirishima stumbled, boots dragging along the mat, barely absorbing the hit before crashing into the ropes.
“Slow,” Bakugo spat, already moving again.
Kirishima retaliated on reflex, swinging a solid right hook, but Bakugo dipped under it, ducking in close until their chests nearly touched. Then, with a grunt, he shoved Kirishima hard, sending him staggering backwards again.
From the edge of the ring, Izuku watched the scene unfolding in front of him. There was nothing playful about this spar. Bakugo was provoking Kirishima, prodding at some bruise beneath the surface, poking the red bear.
“You think holding back makes you a better person?” Bakugo’s voice cut through the air like a whip. “You think it makes up for anything?”
Kirishima’s eyes flashed, something sparking behind the tired haze.
Bakugo sneered. “Pathetic.”
Izuku saw it then, the flicker in Kirishima’s pupils, the way they sharpened, darkened. He was tracking Bakugo’s every move with predatory precision. And Bakugo knew it. He was feeding off it. Smiling, not just with amusement, but with anticipation.
“Come on,” Bakugo growled. “You hit that doctor harder than you’re hitting me. What, are you scared now, Eijirou?”
That did it.
Kirishima lunged, his entire body surging forward. The ring trembled under their combined weight as they collided. His fists came down in a storm, slamming into Bakugo’s guard over and over with raw, unchecked force. The sound was sickening, flesh on flesh, gloves on ribs, elbows scraping against sleeves. But Bakugo didn’t back down. He grinned, wild and unhinged, accepting each hit like a dare. Kirishima’s next punch missed, and Bakugo seized the opening, ducking low, elbowing him in the ribs, then gripping the back of his neck and yanking him into a brutal knee to the gut. The red hair choked, spit flying his lips, but he didn’t go down. He stumbled, bared his teeth, and charged into Bakugo, lifting him clear off the ground before slamming him into the mat. The sound was an echoing thud, and Izuku flinched involuntarily. They grappled, limbs tangled, sweat pouring down their skin. Their bodies moved in instinct and rage and something dangerously close to desperation. Neither wanted to stop. Neither could.
Izuku’s breath caught in his throat. There was something raw in it, something primal, like watching two storms collide. Each hit carried more than muscle. Every punch was part of a silent conversation. Bakugo’s lips were pulled into that terrifying, twisted and hot smile. Kirishima’s hands trembled, not from fatigue, but from the violence he was no longer holding back. And Izuku, well Izuku could feel it in his bones. The weight of it. The heat. The air was thick with sweat and pheromones, a heady, electric blend of rage and desperation and something primal. Bakugo's spice, sharp and biting. Kirishima's musk, warm and unrelenting. It clung to Izuku’s skin, mixed with the metallic tang of the gym until it was impossible to tell where one ended and the other began. It hit him like a punch to the gut too. Dizzying. Almost sweet. Almost too much. His mouth went dry. His skin prickled.
God, it was intoxicating.
In their fight, once again,Bakugo gained the upper hand. He flipped them, slamming Kirishima onto his back and pinning him with a forearm across his collarbone. He winced, gasping, sweat glistening on his flushed face while Bakugo hovered over him, panting, chest to chest heaving, legs tangled together. His voice was low, and rough.
“There you are,” he rasped. His eyes burned, not with anger, but something sharper. Hungrier.
Kirishima sucked in a shaky breath, wide red eyes matching the blonde. “Fuck,” he breathed, the word cracking on his tongue.
Bakugo didn’t move immediately. He just looked down at him, face and knuckles bruised, his sharp teeth threatening to break into his skin. His body pressed even harder on his, almost crushing him with his weight. In response, Kirishima shoved him off with a growl, already rising to his feet, still not satisfied and craving more.
Izuku swallowed hard, his pulse drumming in his ears. He hadn’t moved the whole time. It wasn’t just a fight. It was hunger. It was yearning.
And god help him, it was hot.

So, it took me way longer to work through this chapter than I expected. I don’t know why; this was such a pain in the ass 😭
I feel like it’s been 10 chapters of everyone feeling bad for Todoroki, and I need to move on. Thankfully, it shouldn’t be long before I’m done with it. There are probably only two more sick Todoroki moments left, and very soon Bakugo will have his own POV chapter. I’m not really sure if I can call it a POV chapter, though.
I hope you guys enjoy it! I read a fic that did dialogue differently than I usually do, and I decided to try mimicking their style. Is it better than before, or not? I think I like it better this way. I also really tried to give you all a sense of what pack life was like before the reader, so I know it’s getting long, and maybe you guys are getting impatient to see the reader again. But trust the process! I feel like I need to make sure the pack feels like they have a real relationship on their own before introducing the reader to them.
Unrelated, but let me know what you all think about the characterizations. I don’t want them to feel too OOC, but I also want to try new things with them.
As always, criticisms are welcomed
Big thank you to @cafekitsune who made the beautiful dividers

This is a fanfic I wrote. I just finished it and it's already on AO3. Just thought I should put it on here too. I've read things where Deku went missing or something but Bakugo doesn't give a rats ass so I gave it a shot where Bakugo goes slightly mad at loosing his childhood friend.
Or have the link. :p
https://archiveofourown.org/works/62710174/chapters/160539421
The Sky Went Dull
He hadn’t realized he was crying until his mother snapped him out of the trance. Her hand was on his shoulder and she looked just as upset, almost as if Deku was her son. Bakugo couldn’t imagine how Aunty Inko was doing. “Go away, ya hag.” He growled expecting a slap against the back of his head but there wasn’t one. She just squeezed him tighter. “They’ll find him.” She muttered, more to herself than Katsuki, also seemingly a prayer for Inko.
His father walked in and sat right next to him. He wrapped an arm around the spiky haired boy, pulling him close. Katsuki tried to stop the tears. He hated Deku afterall! He was–is quirkless! Yet he couldn’t. He still remembered his childhood friend, even though he didn’t want to. He remembered how they were before they got quirks. Why was he so angry at Deku anyways? He couldn’t remember at the moment. So, for the first time in many years, he cried in front of his parents.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bakugo went to visit Inko daily. She wasn’t close to alright. She stayed huddled in her room, crying; when not in her room then out searching and putting up flyers. It made sense, the last person in her family was gone, missing, and possibly dead. If not dead, then in grave danger. Bakugo had to get into the habit of not calling Deku ‘Deku.’ It felt wrong now, since he’s gone.
It’d been two weeks and the heroes and police still had nothing. Bakugo was questioned by the police, obviously. They talked to everyone close to Izuku. They already knew De–Izuku was quirkless, so they are searching with more urgency than normal. Though, it didn’t seem like that to Bakugo. He went into his room that day, sitting on his floor and looking at a limited edition All Might card. He huffed and slipped it into his pocket. He was angry, fuming actually. These wannabe heroes and losers were sucking at their damn jobs! They didn’t find Dek–Izuku sooner! They promised to find Izuku yet here they were, grappling at loose ends!
“If they’re not going to find you, then I will. Just wait…Izuku.” He grumbled the promise while staring at a mirror. A small picture of Izuku and him hung in the corner of it. He clenched his teeth and stormed out of the house. “Where the hell do you think you’re going?!” Mitsuki shouted at her son. “To train, you old hag! Someones gotta find De–Izuku someday!” He shouted back, seething with anger. However his mother didn’t shout back, just watching him with equal amounts of anger and sadness.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Weeks turned into months. Izuku has been pronounced dead even though they never found a body. For some reason, the news just itched to interview Bakugo about the loss of his quirkless childhood friend. They must’ve been trying to get something on how the heroes weren’t taking their jobs seriously. Inko was at an all time low and moved into the Bakugo household so Mistuki could make sure she stayed alive.
Bakugo got accepted into UA, with the promise of killing the bastard who took Izuku. But right now, he sat by Izukus grave. It read, “Izuku Midoriya. A son, friend, and light of warmth for those around him.” Bakugo bit back a tear and showed the acceptance letter to the grave. “See, nerd? I got in. I told you I would. It’s not like you ever doubted me though, huh?” He let out a soft chuckle. “Aunty Inko misses you. So do I, and mom and dad. I think Aunty Inko moved in with us, so don’t worry about her. Okay?” He talked and talked, as if expecting to hear an answer. “I…I made sure your desk was never covered in that shit ever again,” He started, remembering how graffitied Izuku’s desk got. “And those pricks who tried to ruin your pretty grave got blown up. No one will touch you ever again, got it? I’ll make sure of that.” He paused, he was getting angry. He didn’t want to be angry here, not now. He sighed. “I’m going to be the number one hero and I’ll make sure you’re there to witness it.” He mumbled, tracing the petals of a yellow Japanese kerria. The gravesite had Izuku's favorite All Might merchandise and was dressed in flowers. All of them were fresh because Katsuki made sure of it.
He looked at the grave, it was in need of being polished. He was about to when a tall, lanky man with yellow hair and sunken eyes walked to it. He seemed shocked that someone was at the grave at this hour. “Who the fuck are you?” Bakugo stood up defensively, hands flared in case he needed to use his quirk. The lanky man put his hands up defensively. “I knew young Midoriya. I’m just here to visit, young man.” The man said calmly. Bakugo narrowed his eyes but he glanced at the man's hair again, then the merchandise on the grave. He had a feeling about something. “The fuck happened to you?” He snapped, sitting down though. The man seemed shocked. “What do you mean?” He questioned back. “I’m not stupid, old man. I know you’re All Might. If you're not, then fix your damn hair.” He crossed his arms and glared at Toshinori. All Might gave a sigh and gave a curt nod. “How do you know Izuku?” Bakugo questioned, sitting in a way that protects the gravestone. “I was training him before he went missing.” Toshinori answered, “I have a long story as to why and the reason I’m like this but…that boy was on the path of greatness. I know it.” He stated, all Bakugo did was nod. “So that’s why he looked so healthy.” Bakugo thought.
Toshinori stood next to where Bakugo sat, just looking at the headstone in silence. Bakugo finally broke the silence after a few minutes. “Did…Do you think he’s still out there?” He questioned, “Still alive and well?” He finished. His voice was on the verge of breaking. All Might stood silently, seemingly frozen. “I want to say yes, I do, but young man, I truly do not know. All we can do is hope that he is.” He gave a stinging answer, hand on the boy's head. “It’s Bakugo, Katsuki Bakugo. And you better remember that name because I’ll be in your spot one day. I’ll also be the one to find Izuku. I’ll be the best hero in the damn world for him.” The blond stated his promises firmly. Despite the initial shock, Toshinori nodded with sympathy for the boy.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bakugo had destroyed everyone at the Sports Festival and now was at his internship. It was time he and his loser classmates got to choose their hero names. He rolled his eyes at some names and snickered at the creativity of others. Finally, it was his turn. He strutted up to the front and held up a sign that read “Kacchan” with more confidence than anyone else in the room. Midnight smiled, “Aww! It’s cute! What does it mean?” Mina cooed at the blond's choice. “None of our damn business Pinky. “Oh come on, share with the class. We understand everyone else's, Bakugo.” Midnight encouraged Bakugo. “None. Of. Your. Damn. Business.” He scowled and sat back down, a cocky grin on his face. “I’m one step closer, Izuku.” He thought.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A little girl ran into Mirio. Her arms covered in wraps and a small horn sticking out her forehead. “Eri! Come back! Please!” A male voice called, sounding a bit desperate. Mirio knelt down and looked at her. “Hey there! You okay?” He asked cheerfully, looking up as the male voice stopped in front of him. The boy had green hair that was overdue for a haircut and was covered in less bandages than the girl. He had freckles and looked so tired, scared even. It made something in Mirio more alert. “Eri we have to go!” The boy urged in a hushed tone. “Excuse me? Are you two related?” The voice of Mirio made the boy jolt. He looked so relieved to see him, well at least in Mirio’s eyes. The boy was about to start talking when a man with a black mask and short brown hair walked up and grabbed the boy's shoulder. “Hello there.” The voice was cold and meticulous. “These two got out of my eyesight while shopping.” The man explained. Mirio stood up but had a questioning look. “I’m their guardian.” He said and Mirio relaxed. The boy picked Eri up and stepped back to the man. “S-Sorry about that.” He stammered out and went with the man.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He had been searching for Izuku since the day he stepped into UA, although now he could do it legally. He and a few other agencies got wrapped into something about a man who they knew as Overhaul. Sir Nighteye and his overly bubbly intern Mirio were the ones to start the main investigation. He was already pissed off about his hair being slicked back by Best Jeanist, but some little girl was being abused and used as experiments by this man? Oh god he was pissed.
“There was another kid with her, though. I remember it.” Mirio started. “He seemed scared and kept telling her to come back. He looked about 13-14. It was hard to tell since they were so malnourished.” Katsuki tuned back in from his seething anger. “He wasn’t nearly as battered as the girl was but still abused.” He continued. “The boy had this birdsnest of hair. It was green and curly, clearly he never took care of it. Freckled skin and short.” Mirio finished the description. Bakugo’s eyes widened, he slammed his hands on the table and stood up without actually thinking. “Kacchan? Do you have something to say?” Best Jeanist asked, raising a brow. “Picture.” He growled. “What?” Sir Nighteye asked. “I said, do you have a picture?” He growled more audibly this time. “Yes, we have CCTV footage.” Sir Nighteye answered, pushing his glasses up on his nose. “Then fucking show it.” Bakugo snapped. It was weird to see him act out so badly with the pros around him. However, they showed the footage.
A scrawny, scraggly, and pale kid projected onto the screen. He has a messy green mop on his head and bags under his eyes. He wore white clothes and had no shoes on, just like the little girl. Bakugo went weak. His arms visibly shook and he could feel tears forming in his eyes, but he held those back. However, Best Jeanist noticed. “Kacchan, do you know him?” He didn’t answer. “Izuku,” He muttered, he collapsed onto the chair again, eyes wide and he was shaky. He stared at his lap. “He’s alive…” He mumbled to himself. Best Jeanist shook him out of the state, he immediately hardened up. “Bakugo. Do you know the kid?” Best Jeanist asked more firmly. He nodded. “That’s Izuku Midoriya,” He started, teeth clenched and fists shaking. “He was pronounced dead a year ago.” His words shocked the heroes around him, the few classmates there looked at him in shock. “Bro? Were you two close?” Kirishima asked. He sat next to FatGum and Amajiki. “He’s the reason behind my hero name.” Is the only thing Bakugo said, it was all he needed to say for the room to understand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The teams spent the next few weeks planning how to save both of the kids. Bakugo seethed. He wanted to go the seconded he learnt about it but he fucking wasn’t allowed to. When he saw that bird masked prick he was going to kill him.
It was finally the battle. It was terrible. They were split up and battered but Bakugo finally saw Chisaki. “Where the fuck is he, fucker?!” Bakugo shouted as he blasted the yakuza. The man snickered, but got visible goosebumps as Bakugo grazed him. “Who? He could be anyone here!” Chisaki questioned, but he thought about the green boy he’s been watching over. “Izuku! Where is he?! Why the hell did you take him?!” Bakugo kept shouting as the two fought. Mirio had the little girl but they couldn’t find Izuku. “Him? You nasty heroes don’t need to lay your hands on him!” The villain shouted back, almost impaling Bakugo. “Answer me! Why did you fucking take him?!” Bakugo screamed louder, his explosions looking more like sparkles but somehow more dangerous. “I’m protecting him! He is perfectly fine with no quirk but someone tried to spread their disease to him!” Bakugo was shocked at the statement. He knew the yakuza was aiming to destroy quirks and all, which was weird, since he too had a quirk, but it didn’t explain how he knew about All Might and Izuku originally being the successor. All Might explained everything at the grave, saying it was secret, so how the fuck did this bird mask know? “Someone so young without a quirk is rare! He’s more than useful to my cause!” Chisaki shouted as the two fought.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bakugo managed to beat the villain close to a pulp. He doesn’t remember how, just that his anger and quirk manifested into something stronger. He panted staring at the ruined ground that laid beneath him. Now it was time to find Izuku. He didn’t hear the many heroes calling for him, saying whatever. Some rushed to the villain, making sure he didn’t get back up. He perked up when a small hand grabbed his leg. He looked down to see Eri. “M–Mr? Who-Who are-are you looking for?” She stammered so much, it made Katsuki feel a little bad. “A kid named Izuku.” He said gruffly. “I can-can show you…” She mumbled, just loud enough for him to hear. He looked at Eraser Head and nodded for him to follow. The two followed the little girl. She brought them to a dark wooden door. They opened it and it looked like a regular teens room, but just slightly off. It didn’t feel wanted or lived in. Just like Eri’s. A small lump lay under the covers which made Bakugo almost run, but instead he walked slowly to it. Eri was picked up by the erasure hero and they stood in the doorway.
Bakugo put his hand on the lump, carefully moving the blanket to see the person he’s been searching for, Izuku. “Izuku,” He said, making the head shoot up. Tears immediately flooded from the emerald eyes. “K-Kacchan?!” He faintly shouted. Bakugo let a grin slip and picked up the malnourished teen. He surprisingly didn’t protest, maybe because of exhaustion and pure relief.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Izuku fell asleep the second he hit the hospital bed. He had lost all the muscle and brightness from the brief training with All Might. Inko burst into tears when she heard her child was actually alive. She hasn’t left Izuku’s side since she got there. No ones going to make her though. Bakugo also hasn’t left his side, saying it’s for protection. He sat with his eyes closed, legs spread, and posture relaxed while beside Izuku. He remembered when he got kidnapped by LOV–another damn organization he’s going to have to deal with– and how his mother reacted. She acted tough in front of the heroes but she cried when they left. His father sobbed harder than she did. She was so worried she would lose her son like how Inko lost Izuku. Inko had cried with them too. He scoffed himself awake and looked at Izuku. “He can’t live at the house. It wouldn’t be safe. He thought to himself and devised a plan to somehow convince the school to let him stay at the dorms. Something like, “To keep Eri calm” wouldn’t work. They’d just keep him with Eri, which wasn’t with him. “To keep him safe,” may work but they could always just keep him with a hero, but maybe if he somehow made it seem that Izuku only felt safe next to Bakugo would work. Yeah, that should do it.
This nerd isn’t leaving his side again.
End of Chapter 1
To Hoard the Sun
Izuku stirred slightly which caused Bakugo to jump, his bright eyes quickly back on his Izuku. Izuku rubbed his eyes and looked at Bakugo for the slightest moment before jumping and curling up into the corner where the bed meets the wall. He looked around in a panic and locked eyes with Bakugo, relaxing immediately. “Oh…” He sighed and looked at the blanket, which he clutched so tightly that his fingers went white. “Kacchan?” He asked, almost as if seeing if he were actually there. “Yeah, nerd?” He replied, trying his absolute hardest to be nonchalant. Izuku nodded slightly and spoke softly, “Just checking.” Bakugo huffed and crossed his arms, finally sitting down on a desk chair.
Izuku had gone back to his timid self, which oddly Bakugo hated. He wanted to know the Izuku in that picture from the news, not the old one he burnt on the shoulder, or the one so malnourished that any color he gained from training all day was bleached. He grumbled to himself and rubbed his eyes. “Go back to sleep, Izuku.” He said gruffly and the boy nodded, slowly going back to his original spot on Bakugos neat bed.
“G’night Kacchan.”
“Night, nerd.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning had been an annoying one for Bakugo. Those dumbass classmates of his bothered him constantly while he made breakfast. It was Midoriya this and Midoriya that. It made his blood boil as much as the water in the kettle. They were talking about his Izuku damnit! He’s allowed to be angry. Even that damn bird head wanted to know about Izuku, the shadow chattering for him. The worst part was the fact he couldn’t do anything about it. Once Izuku was awake and down here, he’d be in awe with Bakugos classmates. He’d be learning and writing about their quirks; quirks that challenged his.
Bakugo growled and shoved a rice ball into Denki’s mouth. The pikachu wannabe melted as he went to the side and chewed the delicious food. “Ask the damn nerd when he’s awake! Stop pestering me, you extras!” Bakugo shouted at the class and they all stepped back like dogs getting in trouble, except for Todoroki. He seemed uninterested in everything, glaring at the world as though his father ruled over it. Bakugo hates that half-n-half bastard. He’s the only one not excited over his nerd. He just knows Izuku will be ecstatic to learn about Todoroki’s duel-quirks. He subconsciously sent a few sparks into his palm, burning himself slightly. He hissed and grumbly started setting plates up.
He shouted and cursed at his classmates thanking him for breakfast. “I should go wake Izuku.” Bakugo thought, he paused for a moment to think it through. If he did, Izuku would get a warm breakfast but he kept waking up throughout the night, seemingly because of nightmares. If he lets him sleep then Izuku gets a cold, soggy microwaved breakfast but is well rested. He tapped his foot in thought. “Hmmm…” Bakugo hummed to himself. “Whacha thinkin’ so hard about, Bakugo?” Kirishima asked, food in his mouth. “Nothing, hair-for-brains!” He barked back and stomped towards the elevator, apron still on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bakugo led Izuku down to the common room, setting him down in his seat at the dining table and set a plate in front of him. “Wow! This looks amazing Kacchan!” Izuku beamed as he started shoveling the food into his mouth. Bakugo tsked. His poor nerd hasn’t had a good meal since he was stolen. He eats his own plate of food standing but he keeps a keen eye on Izuku.
“I need to fatten him up, get muscle and color on him again.” Bakugo thought, nodded to himself as he mentally planned. Bakugo refilled Izuku's plate when it was empty and Izuku didn’t question it, just happy for a warm meal.
“So Midoriya was it?” Iida asks, robotically pushing his glasses back onto his nose. “Uh, yeah! Izuku Midoriya.” Izuku replied, gulping down his food. “Well, Midoriya, welcome to UA. We’ll keep you safe here.” Iida started talking, his fellow classmates nodding along. “Morons. I’m the one keeping him safe here,” Bakugo sneers at the group but lets them talk. “Yeah! Maybe you can even train your quirk here!” Sweet, idiotic, stupid, Kaminari said, finally done chewing.
The group directly involved with the Shie Hassaikai raid went quiet, Izuku put his head down but he had a small smile. “Funny thing is, I don’t have a quirk. I’m completely powerless.” Izuku chuckled. Bakugo wanted to punch the moron. He tightened his grip, digging nails into his palms. Just enough to cause him to bleed. Denki made efforts to apologize, and to his credit it was honest and he tried his hardest. Izuku waved his hands to make the blond stop bowing. Bakugo now couldn’t stop glaring at Denki, and he noticed. “It’s okay! You didn’t know.” Izuku, being the kind and gentle soul he is, reassured the rat bastard. However, despite Izuku’s reassurance, the boy excused himself with a solemn expression and quickly went back to Bakugos room. Bakugo gave a death glare at Kaminari and followed him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bakugo knocked on his own dorm door. “Izuku?” He said gruffly yet calmly. “It’s your own room Kacchan.” Izuku reminded in his regular sassy tone. Bakugo huffed and entered to see Izuku on his bed, looking at a notebook. One that was burnt and clearly had water damage. “Oh shit. Oh fuck. Shit no. What the hell is he doing with that?! I thought Aunty had it.” Bakugo panicked internally.
“Is that–”
“The notebook All Might signed? Yeah…” Izuku interrupted Bakugo. The blond let out a quick sigh of relief.
“I shouldn’t tell you this but I’m going to anyway.” Izuku paused, inhaling, then looking at Bakugo as he exhaled. “I was going to be All Might’s successor. It’s a weird story but he was training me so I would be strong enough to handle his quirk.” Izuku started ranting. Bakugo’s eyes widened. “All Might can pass on his ability, which is called One For All, and I was going to have it next. I was. I could’ve been a hero. I could’ve been by your side. I could’ve finally lived my dream. I could’ve been great! I wouldn’t have to be some quirkless loser who got experimented on to make quirk erasing bullets!” Izuku was getting more angry than sad, but Bakugo could hear the hurt in his voice. However he also stopped listening when Izuku said “by your side.” But Izuku kept talking, his fists clenching his shorts, brows furrowed, tears welled up in his eyes, anger deep in his core.
Bakugo didn’t talk, just thought. It makes sense now, why All Might actually cared for some scrawny kid like Izuku, he was going to literally replace All Might hopefully. Bakugo sneered as his competitive nature chimed in but he quickly punched it away. Bakugo didn’t know what to say at first, but he suddenly thought of something. “Who said you had to be quirkless?” Bakugo asked, a devious plan boiling in his head. He can have Izuku next to him constantly if the freckled boy trained again, took All Mights quirk, and became a hero too. Sure he’d have to start a year late but that doesn’t matter. He’ll just chalk up the random quirk development as late blooming.
Bakugo grinned at his Izuku. “We’ll be heroes together, Izuku. Don’t worry.”
Prologue: Texts With Katsuki but You're An Exchange Student.
NEXT
Tags: Exchange student!Reader x Katsuki, Uncle Might, Bestie Izuku, Traumatic childhood, University AU, characters are 20/21, war never happened for the sake of our happiness, reader is mentioned to be from America but you can ignore that, this is an intro for context (?) i guess, will be an smau.
Tumblr media
Life hadn't ever been kind to you, per se. The past decade had been peaceful, and with the childhood that you endured peace was the best it would get. So you appreciated and reveled in it. Living in whichever state your heart pleased and going to University with government funds, all thanks to the hero whom changed the trajectory of your life.
You should've known better than to get comfortable with this feeling, though. It was and always would be short lived. Registering for classes was the only thing on your mind at the moment. You were scrolling through different Practicum of Battle Tactics professors when your phone lit up with a call notification. A bright smile and blonde hair took up the entirety of the screen, courtesy of All Might. You picked up the phone and answered the call, brows furrowed all the while.
"Hey Uncle Toshi, long time no talk, everything alright?"
"Actually Young (y/n), we need to have a conversation, are you sitting down?"
Ah, there goes the aforementioned peace, right out the window. Cue heart attack starting now. If All Might tells you to sit down, chances are things aren't great.
"Yeah, what's up? You have me worried."
"I would tell you to calm yourself, but you reserve every right to worry in this situation. I regret to inform you that your parents are being released from jail in a month."
"I'm sorry, what?"
Fuck a heart attack, your heart stopped.
"I know, this is a lot to take in. I was told that this is the most notice they could get me as far as a release date went. I attempted to get it pushed back, or even reopen the case to see if they could get more time based on evidence found since their arrest." You heard him sigh a heavy, defeated breath through the speaker. "However there was nothing to be done on that front. I do have another option to present if you're interested." He paused, as if waiting for permission to continue before explaining.
"I'm listening." You breathed softly, anxiously.
Over the phone you heard him clearing his throat, followed by the sound of papers rustling. A sound of satisfaction was made as though All Might found whatever he was looking for. Having known the man like family since you were a child you understood first hand how messy his paperwork could get. You could only imagine the state of his desk at the moment, where you knew he was sitting due to the time difference. Part of you felt bad for interrupting his teaching schedule even though he had called you.
"Okay so," He paused as though he was reading something, "We can have you in Japan in three days. I can have the visa and your enrollment at UA University expedited."
You held your breath for a moment. You debated if you really wanted to go overseas for a year, or longer, depending on how your case played out. But the alternative was your family finding you and dragging you back to that godforsaken cult.
They had somehow survived albeit not as strong as they once were. The loss of their leaders, your parents, put a large dent in their "community" but didn't cause them to disperse. You couldn't imagine going back there.
"Alright, I'll start packing." Was the decision you made after a minute of silence. "One thing though,"
"And that is?"
"No one but faculty knows about this. I understand the importance of them knowing, should something happen. But I'm a charity case here. Everyone has read the news story about my family and then sees my quirk and eventually puts two and two together. I want a fresh start." You rambled, ending with an exasperated sigh.
"I can assure you, a fresh start is the least I can do for you. You deserve it." All Might replied sincerely and curtly, still audibly filling out and filing paperwork. You presumed it was for your transfer. "Though it will affect your quirk training, you understand this right? You can't use your quirk at it's highest output and expect people not to figure out who you are. The story was national news Young (y/n)." He sighed heavily.
"Well, yes, but couldn't you and your protégé help me train? He kept your secret for years, don't see why he can't keep mine."
"You raise a fair point. Speaking of Young Midoriya, I have a conference to attend on the day you fly in. He'll be picking you up from the airport. I've sent your flight information over already."
"Thank you Uncle Toshi, I appreciate you more than words can say."
"Don't mention it, kid. Like I said, it's the least I can do. I'll see you soon, have a safe flight!"
"Thank you! Oh-! How do I know who to look for? I have no idea what Midoriya looks like."
"Green. Look for lots of green." He said without any added context before ending the call. The line dropped and you shook your head confused, but got to packing.
~
A few days later when you landed, you understood, and you wondered to yourself how a person could be so green. Little did you know, this little green gremlin was about to be your new sidekick.
an: i'm so excited to actually churn out the texts for this SMAU but readers background/reason for being at UA is a big part of the story. i felt like it deserved its own little background. this isn't crucial to the story but will def help provide context later down the line.
