2/1/17: We just had to finish that Best of 2016 list, so we played a few more tracks randomly from it and then focused on the top 10 releases (starting at #10). Big congratulations to Russian Circles for nailing it out of the park with Guidance. Although I much prefer some of the other albums, it was a huge hit with the masses, surpassing Mogwai, MONO, and even the much-discussed, experimental Explosions in the Sky release. Hope you enjoyed this one as much as I did!

Also, shout out to If These Trees Could Talk. Their release, The Bones of a Dying World, reached #2 on the list but I misjudged how much time was left in the show and had to skip it =[ Please listen to it, as it’s one absolutely amazing work and really shows how post-rock should continue to evolve going forward.

It’s day 30 of the #vinylobjectchallenge from @vinylalan73 and @paettes: Letter. Novelty Daughter - Semigoddess (Stereocure, 2016) The song “Love-Hate Letter” made me think of this for today’s prompt, but it’s never a bad time to listen to and share this lost classic of the last decade. I say “lost” because so few people were as passionate about this album as I am. If you like cutting-edge electronic music overtopped with lush, jazz-inflected vocals, this is for you. After releasing two subsequent albums, its creator, the amazing Faith Harding, also seems to have left the public eye - I hope she’s OK. Hearing her sing live was astonishing and I wish that privilege on all of you.
