A finished FFXIV Swap for @sylaurin! Loosely based off this post, because there's no way Alisaie would be outdone. Sadu is just there to egg them both on. ☀️

Dysprosium, Mary Soon Lee
dysprosium, AN 66, is a silvery-white rare earth metal. its name is derived from the greek dysprositos, meaning “hard to get at”, owing to the difficulty in separating and isolating this rare earth element. dysprosium is used to measure neutron flux, to fuel reactors, and to activate phosphors. terfenol-d is a magnetorestrictive alloy, meaning that it changes shape when a magnetic field is applied, and is used to manufacture underwater acoustic systems.
jason “robo” robertson, dallas stars #21 for @simmyfrobby’s nhl periodic table poems <3
#i had a couple different ideas for poems that were taken by the time i could go deranged for a couple hours to make this but as I looked#i was like WAIT NONE OF YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I LOVE JASON ROBERTSON YOU HAVEN’T SEEN MY TEXAS CAM and had to do it. also was STRUCK with the#sudden immaculate vision of the Dallas D as part of terfenol-D and could not get it out & robo is the most dance! person i know on the team#liv in the replies#dallas stars#jason robertson#nhl periodic table poems#guys i am plagued with visions and no execution skills!! every day i come here and learn one new skill on GIMP the way god intended!!!#today it was emboss. also cannot claim any credit for the pulse to the magnetic beat photo which is so cool that was one where i had a#couple and was like maybe i can do like crayon shockwaves like the art process video kasper showed? and then found that picture and was#like thank you lord stanley for knowing my limitations. thank you for your understanding in this moment it was a trial enough to make#expand contract dance and one would THINK i would have fucking learned from the claude animorphs tragedy!! i did not. but i did use the#shear tool and 3D rotate so at least if we’re animorphing it’s SLIGHTLY better. anyway me frantically doing this like WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT#WAIT FOR ME YOU GUYS ARE SO FAST i keep seeing all of these and just spinning around in circles until i get dizzy & fall down I’m so happy#the drive folder for this is just called joy!!!!! because joy this is such a cool idea but now because it brings me so much joy#i just saw the Travis dermott one and burst into tears super normal AND someone did exactly what i wanted with hydrogen which was the water#the ice!!!!! it’s so perfect!!! and cody ofc did silver lord stanley. like does it ever make you cry how beautiful & creative everyone is?#anyway if you see me post and delete this and then update it or change it no you didn’t it’s fine. but i wanted to be included#if i could make the dysprosium letters not have a white background i would I simply could not fuck with it at 1AM. we are hitting send#it may not look like it but i queue#pretend i spoke at length about the reasons why i picked all the pictures & the element just know that it’s there inside my brain u can ask#GUYS I TAKE IT ALL BACK I SAW NEONFRETRA’S ISOTOPES AND I COULD MAKE THE EDITS EVEN THOUGH THEY’RE THERE!! avatar 3 theories?
WHAT A QUESTION.
I've let this marinate because I wanted to answer it seriously and I wanted to be right, I love being right.
-Discussion between Payakan and Lo'ak about Neteyam's death and guilt. Especially because of the name of the movie we've seen, I think this relationship is gonna be important. Neteyam is gonna haunt the fuck outta him this movie.
-Spider Sully struggles, like Jake claimed him but I think there's gonna be issues around that.
-Kiri will connect to the spirit tree again and meet with Grace again, I'm gonna guess it's without parental knowledge. More Eywa magic knowledge.
-I think there's gonna be a lot of work done with Tonowari and Jake trying to gather clans and fight. I'm on the fence about this but I think Ronal is gonna be all for it, especially after losing Roa.
-This one is general but I do think things are only gonna get worse for the squad. James Cameron and Jack Champion both said some spooky things about the ending of the third movie. Idk what the fuck else Neytiri can loose but I'm sure it'll somehow be worse for our girl. If I had to guess, I think the Quaritch being alive revelation won't occur until the end of the movie. I can see it being a big event and we are left with the fallout until the next movie.
I don't want to speculate too much because we have like NO information yet, but just from plot threads so far this is what I think.

as we were falling
ch. 10
a/n: im still in my writer's block but sometimes i muster enough energy to get some words out of me. updating this fic because it has the shortest chapters and those are easier to write word count: 1826 warnings: some manhandling but nothing serious
The morning of the auction day Tommy’s knees shook so bad he could hardly get out of bed and had to lean on Nikki to get to the canteen. Nutrient paste slid heavily into his stomach and lodged there, hard as a rock.
“Hey, you’ve gotta relax a bit,” Nikki told him, though he himself didn’t sport his usual carelessness. “This most likely ain’t gonna be your last auction. If you get a shitty master, just annoy him enough to sell you off to someone better.”
“It doesn’t work like that,” Tommy said.
“How do you know? Maybe it does,” Nikki argued, but not too confidently; he also barely touched his nutrient paste. Tommy wanted to tell Nikki he didn’t need to act nonchalant in front of him, but it would just drive Nikki deeper into his pretense, so he said nothing.
Other slaves didn’t look very happy either. Heavy silence hung in the barracks. Nikki, too, sat on his mattress hugging his knees, his face empty. Tommy didn’t dare to disturb him.
Waiting without knowing how much time was left was so hard that Tommy almost felt relief when the guard arrived.
“Auction is coming. Get in line.”
They descended onto the first floor and went down a corridor different from the one they arrived through. That was the back door, Tommy figured; the front door was reserved for the customers, of course.
The auction sections were separated by age and gender: children, women 15-30, men 15-30, women 30-60, men 30-60, other. Who could they be putting in the small “other” room Tommy had no idea. People over 60? But who would need such old slaves? Maybe only if they had some valuable skill or knowledge…
Tommy preferred not even to think of the “children” section – it made his guts turn.
He and Nikki were predictably ushered into the “men 15-30” section. It was a hall so huge Tommy could barely see the farthest wall; the floor was marble, elegant columns supported the ceiling with an enormous elaborate chandelier, though there was no need for it now: tall windows from floor to ceiling let in a lot of light. The room was so grandiose it took Tommy’s breath away; the closest thing to it he’d ever seen were palace ballrooms in historic dramas. Soft music flowed from somewhere from the ceiling.
And stands. A lot of stands, a whole labyrinth of them; slaves were to stand in special circles on the floor, and next to every circle was a display. It probably showed the slave’s characteristics and price. Each stand had ten circles and a chair – probably for a guard.
The guards were so few, Tommy thought wistfully, and the slaves were so plenty they could overwhelm them easily even with their bats and shockers. Break out the doors, run out on the street… and then what? There were police out there, with cars, guns, drones, military droids. The slaves would all be hunted and put down like rabid animals. No, that wouldn’t work.
By nature of their consecutive numbers Tommy and Nikki got to stand next to each other, which lifted Tommy’s spirits a bit: at least they could exchange scorning glances about guards and customers and talk to each other when no one was looking. They couldn’t do it openly – it was prohibited to talk unless a buyer asks you something. They were also forbidden to leave their spots or sit down.
Upon taking their places the slaves had to scan their microchips to have their information displayed. For others it were only the results of the medical and skills exams and the price, but Nikki and Tommy had an additional line.
Exhibits defiant behavior, it read. Tommy’s stomach dropped. Until the last minute he hoped to hide the stripe on his wrist until after his purchase. Now no normal customer would buy him.
He looked at Nikki, seeking consolation, but he was also staring at his own display gloomily, rubbing the stripes on his wrist with his thumb.
A little later salespeople went along the stands, checking slaves’ presentability. One of them approached Tommy, grabbed his jaw and turned his head to the side, looking him over critically. Tommy barely held back the urge to slap his hand off his face. That would sure earn him a zap of a shocker.
The salesman reached for Tommy’s hair and pulled down his hair tie unceremoniously. Tommy winced: getting his hair yanked like that hurt. His hair fell down onto his shoulders, messy and knotted: it’s been a while since he brushed it.
The salesman was prepared – he pulled out a small hairbrush. A couple minutes and several brushed out knots later it was done. Tommy’s scalp was burning, but now his hair rested prettily on his shoulders. The salesman looked pleased.
He then proceeded to Nikki, and, of course, it went nearly not as smooth.
“Hands off,” Nikki hissed when the salesman reached for his hair. Then he grabbed the hairbrush and wrestled it from the stunned man. “I can do it myself.”
He didn’t get to: the guard nearby tased him, forcing him onto his knees. The salesman looked down at him in disgust.
“There’s always the one that acts out,” he complained to the guard.
“Well,” the guard grinned, “we’re always prepared.” He waived his taser in front of the salesman’s face. “That one’s got tased so many times already his insides should be grilled at this point.”
“Yes, I see.” The salesman pointed at Nikki’s wrist. “Well, soon we’ll get rid of him, hopefully. Get up, you filth,” he prodded Nikki with his foot. “I don’t have the entire day to waste on you here.”
“Get him up,” the guard ordered to Tommy. Tommy rushed to help his friend. Nikki could barely stand and leaned on Tommy so heavily his own legs almost gave up under him.
The salesman then forcefully brushed Nikki’s hair, ignoring his pained hissing, and left, gloating.
“You okay?” Tommy asked quietly.
“I’m gonna shove that brush up his ass,” Nikki croaked. “I’m gonna-“
“No talking!” The guard prodded Nikki in the back with his bat. “Get back at your spot,” he told Tommy. Tommy had to release Nikki, who had to lean on the display instead, and return into his circle.
When Nikki got better and could no longer lean on the display, he demonstratively tucked his hair behind his ears. It didn’t change much, but he surely needed that small act of resistance.
The auction started soon after. The corridors slowly filled with customers. Coreworlders seemed fixated on modifying their bodies, cosmetically or to enhance performance. Some had scanning lens or glasses; Tommy lost count of cybernetic arms and legs; a few even had radio installed in their heads and were unceremoniously listening to music or the news on them. Even their midworld planet had better manners, Tommy thought with disdain.
People walked past, their glances often lingering on Tommy. He preferred to look the other way, but could still feel them burn his skin. Nikki, in his fashion, countered those glances with intent stares, as if trying to win a staring contest. Not everyone liked that.
“Whatcha looking at, slave?” one man with robotic arms told Tommy. His hands had six fingers each. It was probably more convenient, but for some reason grossed Tommy out.
“You,” came a straightforward answer.
“And what’s that you find so interesting?”
“Your hands are fucked up,” Nikki said. While Tommy completely agreed, he wouldn’t have said it: the guard already rose from his chair with his taser bared.
“Have some fucking respect!” he growled and tased Nikki again – a little, Nikki even managed to keep standing, but the grimace on his face said it all.
“That’ll teach ‘im!” The customer grinned in delight. Then he, thankfully, proceeded further, not sparing them any more attention.
“The guard was right. My insides gotta be finely grilled at this point,” Nikki whispered hoarsely, pressing a hand to his chest.
“Third time is a charm,” Tommy smiled gloomily.
“Silence!” the guard yelled. The smile wilted on Tommy’s lips.
Some time passed, Tommy wasn’t sure how much. He could see the time on his display, but he avoided looking at it. Maybe if he doesn’t look there, a good customer also wouldn’t.
A middle-aged lady passed by merely sparing him a glance, then stopped dead in her tracks, turned around and approached their stand. She was maybe 45, more or less, rather plump, but she had nice dimples on her cheeks and kind eyes, and she was looking right at Tommy. His heart skipped a bit.
“Oh, what a pretty little thing you are,” she said, looking him over. She could barely reach his chin, but the tone of her voice immediately established her superior position. Not a dominant one, though. She wasn’t seeking to overpower him. “So skinny - did they not feed you here at all?”
“They did… ma’am.” The word kicked and scratched and punched his throat until the strict look of the guard made Tommy let it out. It left an unpleasant aftertaste on his tongue. But the lady looked pleased.
“He just didn’t eat,” Nikki intervened, but the guard clicked the taser warningly, making Nikki unwillingly fall silent.
“Why, though? Is the food bad?” The lady’s thin brows curved into half-ovals.
“Nutritionally – no. The taste, though…” Tommy trailed off. The lady got it.
“Oh, you’re a picky one!” She laughed. “Well, that’s not a problem for me. I love cooking. I own a small café, actually. And I need a young boy to help me out. How’s your cooking?”
Tommy hurried to put his 39% into a better light. “I’ve had some experience. But I’ve still got a lot to learn.”
“Let me see your other skills… Oh, you’re a drummer? You could play in bands if I ever decide to have live music! Lockpicking… hm… dancing, too… that’s an interesting skillset for sure…”
Then her eyes reached the last line, and her face darkened. No, no, no-
“Oh. I don’t have time to teach defiant kids manners. It won’t work out, I’m afraid.”
Tommy looked at her leaving in silent desperation. Nikki, despite the tangible threat of getting another zap, squeezed his forearm in support.
“She’d suffocate you under her weight anyway,” he murmured. Tommy cringed at the image in his mind. His grief subsided slightly.
People kept passing by. Though it had only been an hour from the start of the auction, Tommy began to worry. What happens to the slaves that don’t get sold on their first auction? Surely some are always left. Do they go on the next? Would the price be reduced? For some reason Tommy didn’t want to know.
He turned to Nikki, but he was staring intently into the crowd.
“What are you-“
“They’re staring at us.”
“Who?”
“They.” A nod slightly to the left, and then Tommy saw them.

🌊✏️📚 for the art ask meme:3
hiiiiii bestie :3c
🌊 What’s the hardest thing for you to draw?
- this is a basic ass answer but HANDS AND ARMS… god gave me hands to draw with but did not decide to let me know how to draw them easily. figuring out poses is hard too… I want to try more dynamic poses… agony 💔
✏️ Do you prefer traditional art or digital to relax?
- I tend to go for digital, despite me enjoying sketching traditionally a lot. it’s bc coloring is fun digitally! sometimes I just grab a textured brush and doodle :3c sketches are a pain sometimes, but again. a good textured brush makes it fun and easy for me to relax.
📚 How many layers do you typically use?
- nowhere near as many as you do LMAO /silly
- okay but fr when it comes to finished art, it depends on how much effort I put into it FHKSJFKDFN so uhhh anywhere from 20-50 layers, but that’s bc I tend to use a lot of layers for lineless art, which is what I primarily draw, and if I go for some shading/a background that adds onto it bc I play around with them a lot to try and make it look okay T.T

neglected manuscript - Do you have a favorite novel?
from this ancient ask meme
LMAO NO!!! PICKING THE ONE I WAS AFRAID OF 💀 I could make it easy and lie but y’know what? We’re gonna be honest about this 🫡 Gonna be LONG bc I have 1) not talked with about this in any capacity with another human being before and 2) a pretty complicated relationship with this book 🤕
Tumblr media
Content warning for CSA 👇
This is difficult partly bc I do love a lot of books but partly bc I don’t like to reveal my actual favorite book… I genuinely worry people will perceive me in a very negative way LMAO. My favorite of all time is Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov 😶 It’s the book I’ve reread the most in my life so far and it is genuinely one of the best written books I have read 🤧 I think generally people are like 😰🤢 when you drop a bomb like that what’s typically supposed to be a light-hearted convo so I usually will say something else! Typically my safe answer is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (which genuinely was my favorite book at some point in time, we are not going to dive into this right now).
(A disclaimer as I talked about Lolita fashion before, I am aware that the fashion gets its name from the novel but that’s where the relation ends. I like Lolita fashion because I’m a loser that likes subculture fashion and not because it has the same name or any other connection to the book. That happens to be coincidental. I am staunchly against fetishization of the fashion ok thanks! 🙂‍↕️ back to the program!)
Brief summary for those who need it: Humbert (the narrator) is a scholar and a secret pedophile, who one day meets the Haze family for a home stay. He obsesses over the daughter, a 12 year-old girl named Dolores Haze, who he personally calls Lolita. Humbert marries Ms. Haze to be around the real object of his obsession. Through unfortunate events, he ends up Dolores’s sole caretaker. She lives with Humbert’s constant sexual abuse that spans a cross-country roadtrip, but eventually she runs away with the help of another pedophile. Unfortunately it is not a happy ending. Despite Dolores’s escape from both pedophiles, she dies before she can rebuild a normal life with her future family.
The first time I tried to read it, I was too young (around Dolores’s own age 🫥). It was recommended to me by another middle school girl! God knows what the fuck we were doing back then LMAO but the girl who recommended it to me said it was a love story. Older man girl our age whatever. Tbh when I started it I understood that it wasn’t a love story… and I couldn’t finish it because of how uncomfortable it made me. I reread it a handful of times between middle school and uni with varying degrees of success, and I only really started to grasp it when I reached uni. I do think I was entirely too young to read the book or even understand it, and thankfully it was not used as a tool to manipulate me. It was a dicey time tbh. When I was growing up, there weren’t communities of young women that centered around accepting Dolores Haze as a victim.
I think there’s a disclaimer for those you haven’t read it and think it glorifies CSA and pedophilia. It really does not. Nabokov himself was a victim of CSA and did not condone it. I think that the #1 thing that movie adaptations and pop culture struggle with is that people believe the narrator point blank. So the adaptations all have this horrible romanticization of the story at their cores. People even struggle with understanding the book because the narrator is an Educated & Scholarly Man who is like ✨I’m a poet I’m a sensitive soul and we poets just believe in love✨ like NO!!! The whole point of the story is that he is an unreliable narrator!!! The narrator is a murderer, rapist, kidnapper, and if you’re actually paying attention you see it all with your own damn eyes! And of course nobody really does pay attention! 😭
So like, why is this my favorite? This is also complicated LOL, but I think that there’s a couple of main reasons.
Ultimately, to me, the novel is a puzzle that Nabokov invites you to solve. You have an unreliable narrator, but he’s an excellent manipulator. I think a lot of people lose “the game,” so to speak, the first time they read the book because the narrator is so good at making you see only what he wants you to see (he loves her, he’s just a nice sensitive guy who lost his first love too early, he’s doesn’t mean to hurt “his” “Lolita,” she “seduced” him, she “makes” him do horrible things to her, etc). It is written so well, and since the character himself is a professor and an intellectual, I think it’s easier for folks to let their guard down and to literally be tricked. Genuinely speaking I struggled with what to believe too, especially as a child. The only reason I didn’t buy into the “love story” bit was because by some intuition, I was aware that something Bad was happening despite the narrator’s insistence that it was all good. Tho I could not pinpoint what it was at the time.
But once you break past the facade and you’re fully paying attention the novel, it is like two stories in one. One hand, poets romantics in the name of love blah blah blah, but on the other hand? Dolores is a girl from a broken home, who’s mother is murdered by a man that wants to rape her. She’s kidnapped and shows clear signs of abuse (triggered by paternal affection, cried herself to sleep every night since the abuse started, bouts of disassociation, extreme rebellion towards Humbert, etc). Some of this stuff is actually glossed over by the narrator, but signs of a whole other part of the story are literally right in front of you if you’re paying attention.
For example, there’s a single line about Dolores’s mother, Charlotte, where she reveals in a letter to Humber that both her first husband and her youngest child (Dolores’s baby brother) died. And the narrator does NOT give a rat’s ass about this woman or her woes so it’s never talked about again. It’s whittled down to one single dismissive sentence, and I missed it tons of times. But knowing that, it makes sense why Charlotte acts as she does, why Charlotte and Dolores’s relationship is fraught. And why Dolores acts as she does at the beginning of the novel. Literally the Haze family is going through extreme grief with barely the emotional resources to process a double death in their immediate family. Without that context though, you’re just going along with whatever Humbert wants you to believe. You don’t see who Charlotte or Dolores are as individuals. You miss a chunk of the truth. And that’s literally just one of the smallest instances I can think of. There’s so much to dig through both directly and in between the lines. Nabokov is so deliberate with his writing and so extremely detailed that there’s a LOT of things that are easily missed unless you read it multiple times. This shit is so detailed, there’s scholars dedicated both to Nabokov and to Lolita the novel.
I think the last big reason I keep coming back to it is because I think it’s something so deeply rooted in society, you never really live without Lolita. The book has been bastardized to hell and back because most people, especially those in power once again, Do Not Understand how to read this book. So we’re left with not necessarily Dolores Haze, but this enigmatic “Lolita” the abstract figure of Humbert’s delusions. She is so influential, we all live our lives with her whether or not we’re aware of it. Coquette aesthetic? Lolita. Lana Del Rey? Katy Perry? The Police? Lolita. Marc Jacobs? Carven? Lolita. Vladimir? Excavation? My Dark Vanessa? Lolita. Heart-shaped sunglasses? Lolita. Butterflies??? Yes, Lolita. You can even go so wild with the connections to the point of bringing up the goddamn Lion King (animated 1994 version, Scar is voiced by Jeremy Irons who played Humbert Humbert in Adrian Lyne’s 1997 adaptation).
And it’s this constant reminder, every day. You pass by her on the Internet or in an ad while you’re out and about. She lives in the shadow of your acquaintance or your loved one. She haunts everything in a very real and literal sense. I think that’s what keeps me coming back to the book… even if I wanted to forget about her, I don’t think I ever really could.

She was of course in absolute awe, of the great power that this king possessed.
Her heart already leaping at the very possibility of having her own wish granted! Though today, would not be that day. Oh no, she had already heard about how things were done here. With her of course being much too young then, knowing that she had to wait for a couple more years would still not dim the sparkle of hope and excitement that had now set itself in her very eyes.
"So... yer highny-ness, what was yer wish?" She dared asked, her lips curling up almost cheekily then. Almost as if she knew that she had asked something she shouldn't have. Otherwise it won't come true. As it was said. But that was only for wishes that have yet to come true now, right?
@yukikorogashi || scoops this sweetie up <3
Your “highny-ness” was... a new one.
And dare he say such a title all on its own momentarily threw him off as he pivoted to face the young girl—certainly thereafter the burning question so few gathered the courage to broach. (Or was it that they cared more for their own wishes than what their generous king could possibly want for himself?)
Tumblr media
Even so, a patient smile grew on his lips, and he bent over slightly to match the girl's height. “Ah-ah... You know how wishes work,” the king gingerly chastised, though her blatant cheekiness was reflected in the playful wink offered back. “Besides, that implies there could be more I desire than what my kingdom and people already offer. Worry about your own wish.”
And he tapped his knuckle beneath her chin before rising back to his full height. As he swung his cape around himself to take his leave, King Magnifico made sure to add, “I look forward to seeing it.”

Ramble about Eddie to your heart’s content, bestie :D
I’m honestly very interested in your ideas :3
Again, don’t be scared to just ramble in my ask box, I love hearing peoples ideas
AJDKKAGAJAKAK- THANK YOU <3 <3
I'm wailing rn /pos
My AU! Disabled Eddie!! Ok so he wasn't born with his disability, it came about later.
My Current story is that he had stroke in late middle/early high school! I have done research and Yes it is possible for teens and younger to have strokes. From what I recall it can be significantly worse for them compared to adult strokes
Eddie was left with permanent complications and is disabled bc of it. He has coordination, balance, and general mobility complications among a list of other post stroke effects. I just found the word I was looking for a few days ago to describe his mobility issues, it's Ataxia!
Eddie has to deal with bouts of muscle weakness on his right side which can effect his vision. He also gets vertigo a Lot and at this point dizziness is expected every time he stands.
He uses forearm crutches when he needs extra help walking bc he does have good days where he may not need them! But for longer distances he brings them bc he's better safe than sorry. He also has cane but he doesn't use it As much.
He also has a wheelchair that he Hates. He hates having to use it. But his Really horrible days leave him unable to stand, much less walk. He wishes he could just hide it somewhere and never think about it but alas. it's important.
He dislikes the wheelchair so much bc it makes him feel useless. He is Not! I want to clarify that wheelchair users are perfectly Capable and Independent! Eddie just has an issue with overachieving and working himself too hard. He wants to be helpful and do So Much but there are some things he can't do while in his wheelchair. He was stuck in a chair for months after his stroke and it was devastating back then. He has No good memories with a wheelchair so he continues to dislike using it.
Ok putting a read more bc I am not shutting up for a While
Relationships with the neighbors! Generally the same. Barnaby doesn't chase him bc that would be mean (? I can't think of a better way to describe it)
Sally is still Sally but she's specific on her mailman hate (lmao) to make sure Eddie and everyone else knows she's not faulting him for his disability.
Hmm yeah everything else is pretty much the same. I guess everyone is also more open about offering Eddie help from time to time if he looks like he needs an extra hand. They're not persistent or anything, but if they see him struggling to carry a package or two they're more inclined to help.
I still don't know how Howdy gets his shit. Honestly If Eddie is having a crutch or chair day,, Howdy just won't get his stock unless he gets it himself. I can't think of a way for Eddie to deliver all those heavy ass boxes.
He does ask people to pick up their packages occasionally too. He tries to deliver them all himself but it's not always possible. He offers a trolley they can use.
I want to talk about angst. So this is very specific, I'll try to keep it short. growing up, Eddie lived in a four bedroom house. two downstairs master bedrooms and two upstairs normal bedrooms. Before his stroke he was upstairs, his older brother in the other room, and his older sister in the bedroom downstairs.
Afterwards he had to move downstairs. His sister Hated this. She loved her room and her private bathroom and she was very prissy about it.
This snowballed into her just,, taking all her frustrations out on Eddie. He took Her Bedroom. He's getting all the attention. Her little brother was ruining everything.
Eddie was devastated by this. He went as far as to attempt to convince his parents to let them switch rooms again. He couldn't physically walk up the stairs most days but he just wanted his big sister to not hate him anymore.
Their relationship never fully recovered. As an adult Eddie will still find ways to blame himself and feel guilty. But he just can't bring himself to talk to her.
They used to be so close. She let Eddie experiment with her makeup, they talked about fashion and boys and she helped him so so much when he was questioning his sexuality.
and then it just, fell apart. But not quietly like a loose thread but rather a house that wasn't built quite right and the screws came loose one by one.
Eddie's memory gets really fuzzy when thinking that far back. but some of those memories are burned into his mind and he wishes he could forget them like he does everything else.

teresa has this calm, protective kindness that makes me insane upon rewatching the sharpe series tbqh. and richard getting WHIPLASH hearing he’ll see her again is so perfecttttttt 🥺 i appreciate how there’s time for scenes independent of her romance that show how intelligent and compassionate she is despite all that’s happened to her. god i love her sm

Anon you are SO RIGHT on ALL of these points.....I foam at the mouth and roll around on the ground just THINKING about all of this. Teresa has every opportunity to be cold and cruel and ignore others, and she doesn't. She sees that Sharpe's struggling with leadership, nearly killed by his men if she hadn't intervened- pointing out to him that even though she doesn't always do what her men want, she asks them- does he just beat them until they do it? (There's a number of factors there beyond Sharpe's control, but she makes a good point.) She listens to soldiers gossip, gives him advice, sees him take that advice and SMILES when he does!! She doesn't have to do any of this but she does bc she wants to see him improve!! She sees him learn and grow bc of it and it's just so sweet... I definitely wish we got to see more of her by herself, but I love those moments, however brief. Especially with her and Josefina!! She checks up on her and makes sure she's alright, comforts her when she's going through a rough time, and offers her a solution to her problem."why do you try and hide your feelings? you're really quite kind." 😭 She wakes Sharpe to help, and makes him promise later to look after her and AAAHHH she cares!! she knows what its like to be a survivor of assault and she tries to protect both josefina and lady farthingdale!! And I have a multiparagraph rant about it but like. Teresa wanting to saving Lady Farthingdale from Hakeswill, her compassion and her kindness!!! are used against her!!!! AUGH!! But because that last thought is really sad- yes, I love how much Sharpe gets excited to know Teresa is nearby. His neck is on a swivel and if he were a dog you'd hear his tail thumping the ground rapidly. Hogan can get Sharpe to do just about anything by mentioning her name- and Sharpe is constantly thinking about Teresa throughout Company- where is she, why couldn't she get out, is she coming? And his panic when he thinks she's been shot coming out of the fortress OOUGHH...but I think one of my favorite scenes of all is the barn scene in Enemy, him poking his head out from the window and being SO excited because WIFE!!! WIFE IS HERE!! FUCK THE ROCKETS WIFE IS HERE
