Shamir Secret Sharing
It’s 3am. Paul, the head of PayPal database administration carefully enters his elaborate passphrase at a keyboard in a darkened cubicle of 1840 Embarcadero Road in East Palo Alto, for the fifth time. He hits Return. The green-on-black console window instantly displays one line of text: “Sorry, one or more wrong passphrases. Can’t reconstruct the key. Goodbye.”
There is nerd pandemonium all around us. James, our recently promoted VP of Engineering, just climbed the desk at a nearby cubicle, screaming: “Guys, if we can’t get this key the right way, we gotta start brute-forcing it ASAP!” It’s gallows humor – he knows very well that brute-forcing such a key will take millions of years, and it’s already 6am on the East Coast – the first of many “Why is PayPal down today?” articles is undoubtedly going to hit CNET shortly. Our single-story cubicle-maze office is buzzing with nervous activity of PayPalians who know they can’t help but want to do something anyway. I poke my head up above the cubicle wall to catch a glimpse of someone trying to stay inside a giant otherwise empty recycling bin on wheels while a couple of Senior Software Engineers are attempting to accelerate the bin up to dangerous speeds in the front lobby. I lower my head and try to stay focused. “Let’s try it again, this time with three different people” is the best idea I can come up with, even though I am quite sure it will not work.
It doesn’t.
The key in question decrypts PayPal’s master payment credential table – also known as the giant store of credit card and bank account numbers. Without access to payment credentials, PayPal doesn’t really have a business per se, seeing how we are supposed to facilitate payments, and that’s really hard to do if we no longer have access to the 100+ million credit card numbers our users added over the last year of insane growth.
This is the story of a catastrophic software bug I briefly introduced into the PayPal codebase that almost cost us the company (or so it seemed, in the moment.) I’ve told this story a handful of times, always swearing the listeners to secrecy, and surprisingly it does not appear to have ever been written down before. 20+ years since the incident, it now appears instructive and a little funny, rather than merely extremely embarrassing.
Before we get back to that fateful night, we have to go back another decade. In the summer of 1991, my family and I moved to Chicago from Kyiv, Ukraine. While we had just a few hundred dollars between the five of us, we did have one secret advantage: science fiction fans.
My dad was a highly active member of Zoryaniy Shlyah – Kyiv’s possibly first (and possibly only, at the time) sci-fi fan club – the name means “Star Trek” in Ukrainian, unsurprisingly. He translated some Stansilaw Lem (of Solaris and Futurological Congress fame) from Polish to Russian in the early 80s and was generally considered a coryphaeus at ZSh.
While USSR was more or less informationally isolated behind the digital Iron Curtain until the late ‘80s, by 1990 or so, things like FidoNet wriggled their way into the Soviet computing world, and some members of ZSh were now exchanging electronic mail with sci-fi fans of the free world.
The vaguely exotic news of two Soviet refugee sci-fi fans arriving in Chicago was transmitted to the local fandom before we had even boarded the PanAm flight that took us across the Atlantic [1]. My dad (and I, by extension) was soon adopted by some kind Chicago science fiction geeks, a few of whom became close friends over the years, though that’s a story for another time.
A year or so after the move to Chicago, our new sci-fi friends invited my dad to a birthday party for a rising star of the local fandom, one Bruce Schneier. We certainly did not know Bruce or really anyone at the party, but it promised good food, friendly people, and probably filk. My role was to translate, as my dad spoke limited English at the time.
I had fallen desperately in love with secret codes and cryptography about a year before we left Ukraine. Walking into Bruce’s library during the house tour (this was a couple years before Applied Cryptography was published and he must have been deep in research) felt like walking into Narnia.
I promptly abandoned my dad to fend for himself as far as small talk and canapés were concerned, and proceeded to make a complete ass out of myself by brazenly asking the host for a few sheets of paper and a pencil. Having been obliged, I pulled a half dozen cryptography books from the shelves and went to work trying to copy down some answers to a few long-held questions on the library floor. After about two hours of scribbling alone like a man possessed, I ran out of paper and decided to temporarily rejoin the party.
On the living room table, Bruce had stacks of copies of his fanzine Ramblings. Thinking I could use the blank sides of the pages to take more notes, I grabbed a printout and was about to quietly return to copying the original S-box values for DES when my dad spotted me from across the room and demanded I help him socialize. The party wrapped soon, and our friends drove us home.
The printout I grabbed was not a Ramblings issue. It was a short essay by Bruce titled Sharing Secrets Among Friends, essentially a humorous explanation of Shamir Secret Sharing.
Say you want to make sure that something really really important and secret (a nuclear weapon launch code, a database encryption key, etc) cannot be known or used by a single (friendly) actor, but becomes available, if at least n people from a group of m choose to do it. Think two on-duty officers (from a cadre of say 5) turning keys together to get ready for a nuke launch.
The idea (proposed by Adi Shamir – the S of RSA! – in 1979) is as simple as it is beautiful.
Let’s call the secret we are trying to split among m people K.
First, create a totally random polynomial that looks like: y(x) = C0 * x^(n-1) + C1 * x^(n-2) + C2 * x^(n-3) ….+ K. “Create” here just means generate random coefficients C. Now, for every person in your trusted group of m, evaluate the polynomial for some randomly chosen Xm and hand them their corresponding (Xm,Ym) each.
If we have n of these points together, we can use Lagrange interpolating polynomial to reconstruct the coefficients – and evaluate the original polynomial at x=0, which conveniently gives us y(0) = K, the secret. Beautiful. I still had the printout with me, years later, in Palo Alto.
It should come as no surprise that during my time as CTO PayPal engineering had an absolute obsession with security. No firewall was one too many, no multi-factor authentication scheme too onerous, etc. Anything that was worth anything at all was encrypted at rest.
To decrypt, a service would get the needed data from its database table, transmit it to a special service named cryptoserv (an original SUN hardware running Solaris sitting on its own, especially tightly locked-down network) and a special service running only there would perform the decryption and send back the result.
Decryption request rate was monitored externally and on cryptoserv, and if there were too many requests, the whole thing was to shut down and purge any sensitive data and keys from its memory until manually restarted.
It was this manual restart that gnawed at me. At launch, a bunch of configuration files containing various critical decryption keys were read (decrypted by another key derived from one manually-entered passphrase) and loaded into the memory to perform future cryptographic services.
Four or five of us on the engineering team knew the passphrase and could restart cryptoserv if it crashed or simply had to have an upgrade. What if someone performed a little old-fashioned rubber-hose cryptanalysis and literally beat the passphrase out of one of us? The attacker could theoretically get access to these all-important master keys. Then stealing the encrypted-at-rest database of all our users’ secrets could prove useful – they could decrypt them in the comfort of their underground supervillain lair.
I needed to eliminate this threat.
Shamir Secret Sharing was the obvious choice – beautiful, simple, perfect (you can in fact prove that if done right, it offers perfect secrecy.) I decided on a 3-of-8 scheme and implemented it in pure POSIX C for portability over a few days, and tested it for several weeks on my Linux desktop with other engineers.
Step 1: generate the polynomial coefficients for 8 shard-holders.
Step 2: compute the key shards (x0, y0) through (x7, y7)
Step 3: get each shard-holder to enter a long, secure passphrase to encrypt the shard
Step 4: write out the 8 shard files, encrypted with their respective passphrases.
And to reconstruct:
Step 1: pick any 3 shard files.
Step 2: ask each of the respective owners to enter their passphrases.
Step 3: decrypt the shard files.
Step 4: reconstruct the polynomial, evaluate it for x=0 to get the key.
Step 5: launch cryptoserv with the key.
One design detail here is that each shard file also stored a message authentication code (a keyed hash) of its passphrase to make sure we could identify when someone mistyped their passphrase. These tests ran hundreds and hundreds of times, on both Linux and Solaris, to make sure I did not screw up some big/little-endianness issue, etc. It all worked perfectly.
A month or so later, the night of the key splitting party was upon us. We were finally going to close out the last vulnerability and be secure. Feeling as if I was about to turn my fellow shard-holders into cymeks, I gathered them around my desktop as PayPal’s front page began sporting the “We are down for maintenance and will be back soon” message around midnight.
The night before, I solemnly generated the new master key and securely copied it to cryptoserv. Now, while “Push It” by Salt-n-Pepa blared from someone’s desktop speakers, the automated deployment script copied shard files to their destination.
While each of us took turns carefully entering our elaborate passphrases at a specially selected keyboard, Paul shut down the main database and decrypted the payment credentials table, then ran the script to re-encrypt with the new key. Some minutes later, the database was running smoothly again, with the newly encrypted table, without incident.
All that was left was to restore the master key from its shards and launch the new, even more secure cryptographic service.
The three of us entered our passphrases… to be met with the error message I haven’t seen in weeks: “Sorry, one or more wrong passphrases. Can’t reconstruct the key. Goodbye.” Surely one of us screwed up typing, no big deal, we’ll do it again. No dice. No dice – again and again, even after we tried numerous combinations of the three people necessary to decrypt.
Minutes passed, confusion grew, tension rose rapidly.
There was nothing to do, except to hit rewind – to grab the master key from the file still sitting on cryptoserv, split it again, generate new shards, choose passphrases, and get it done. Not a great feeling to have your first launch go wrong, but not a huge deal either. It will all be OK in a minute or two.
A cursory look at the master key file date told me that no, it wouldn’t be OK at all. The file sitting on cryptoserv wasn’t from last night, it was created just a few minutes ago. During the Salt-n-Pepa-themed push from stage, we overwrote the master key file with the stage version. Whatever key that was, it wasn’t the one I generated the day before: only one copy existed, the one I copied to cryptoserv from my computer the night before. Zero copies existed now. Not only that, the push script appears to have also wiped out the backup of the old key, so the database backups we have encrypted with the old key are likely useless.
Sitrep: we have 8 shard files that we apparently cannot use to restore the master key and zero master key backups. The database is running but its secret data cannot be accessed.
I will leave it to your imagination to conjure up what was going through my head that night as I stared into the black screen willing the shards to work. After half a decade of trying to make something of myself (instead of just going to work for Microsoft or IBM after graduation) I had just destroyed my first successful startup in the most spectacular fashion.
Still, the idea of “what if we all just continuously screwed up our passphrases” swirled around my brain. It was an easy check to perform, thanks to the included MACs. I added a single printf() debug statement into the shard reconstruction code and instead of printing out a summary error of “one or more…” the code now showed if the passphrase entered matched the authentication code stored in the shard file.
I compiled the new code directly on cryptoserv in direct contravention of all reasonable security practices – what did I have to lose? Entering my own passphrase, I promptly got “bad passphrase” error I just added to the code. Well, that’s just great – I knew my passphrase was correct, I had it written down on a post-it note I had planned to rip up hours ago.
Another person, same error. Finally, the last person, JK, entered his passphrase. No error. The key still did not reconstruct correctly, I got the “Goodbye”, but something worked. I turned to the engineer and said, “what did you just type in that worked?”
After a second of embarrassed mumbling, he admitted to choosing “a$$word” as his passphrase. The gall! I asked everyone entrusted with the grave task of relaunching crytposerv to pick really hard to guess passphrases, and this guy…?! Still, this was something -- it worked. But why?!
I sprinted around the half-lit office grabbing the rest of the shard-holders demanding they tell me their passphrases. Everyone else had picked much lengthier passages of text and numbers. I manually tested each and none decrypted correctly. Except for the a$$word. What was it…
A lightning bolt hit me and I sprinted back to my own cubicle in the far corner, unlocked the screen and typed in “man getpass” on the command line, while logging into cryptoserv in another window and doing exactly the same thing there. I saw exactly what I needed to see.
Today, should you try to read up the programmer’s manual (AKA the man page) on getpass, you will find it has been long declared obsolete and replaced with a more intelligent alternative in nearly all flavors of modern Unix.
But back then, if you wanted to collect some information from the keyboard without printing what is being typed in onto the screen and remain POSIX-compliant, getpass did the trick. Other than a few standard file manipulation system calls, getpass was the only operating system service call I used, to ensure clean portability between Linux and Solaris.
Except it wasn’t completely clean.
Plain as day, there it was: the manual pages were identical, except Solaris had a “special feature”: any passphrase entered that was longer than 8 characters long was automatically reduced to that length anyway. (Who needs long passwords, amiright?!)
I screamed like a wounded animal. We generated the key on my Linux desktop and entered our novel-length passphrases right here. Attempting to restore them on a Solaris machine where they were being clipped down to 8 characters long would never work. Except, of course, for a$$word. That one was fine.
The rest was an exercise in high-speed coding and some entirely off-protocol file moving. We reconstructed the master key on my machine (all of our passphrases worked fine), copied the file to the Solaris-running cryptoserv, re-split it there (with very short passphrases), reconstructed it successfully, and PayPal was up and running again like nothing ever happened.
By the time our unsuspecting colleagues rolled back into the office I was starting to doze on the floor of my cubicle and that was that. When someone asked me later that day why we took so long to bring the site back up, I’d simply respond with “eh, shoulda RTFM.”
RTFM indeed.
P.S. A few hours later, John, our General Counsel, stopped by my cubicle to ask me something. The day before I apparently gave him a sealed envelope and asked him to store it in his safe for 24 hours without explaining myself. He wanted to know what to do with it now that 24 hours have passed.
Ha. I forgot all about it, but in a bout of “what if it doesn’t work” paranoia, I printed out the base64-encoded master key when we had generated it the night before, stuffed it into an envelope, and gave it to John for safekeeping. We shredded it together without opening and laughed about what would have never actually been a company-ending event.
P.P.S. If you are thinking of all the ways this whole SSS design is horribly insecure (it had some real flaws for sure) and plan to poke around PayPal to see if it might still be there, don’t. While it served us well for a few years, this was the very first thing eBay required us to turn off after the acquisition. Pretty sure it’s back to a single passphrase now.

Pam Bondi knows where the bodies are buried and she will be in a position to do major damage as AG. Here are some of her best moments.
Pam Bondi expertly laid out how Joe and Hunter Biden were using a Ukranian Energy company as a money laundering pay-for-play scheme while Joe was Vice President. Not only this but he had Hunter Biden help siphon money out of the CCP while in China. Joe Biden was the point man in Iraq during his VP tenure and set up business deals in that exact country through his close family members. All these crimes can be found for anyone to see on Hunter Biden's laptop from hell. "As a career prosecutor and former attorney general of Florida, I fought corruption, and I know what it looks like, whether it's done by people wearing pin striped suits or orange jumpsuits. At the Democrats convention, we were told to look at Joe Biden as the model of integrity, but when you look at his forty seven year career in politics, the people who benefited are his family members, not the American people. Let's take a closer look. We all know about Joe's son Hunter Biden, a corrupt Ukrainian oligarch, who put hunter on the board of his gas company, even though he had no experience in Ukraine, or in the energy sector. None, yet he was paid millions to do nothing. He only had one qualification that mattered. He was the son of the man in charge of distributing US aid to Ukraine. And recently reported information revealed that a few months after Hunter Biden joined that corrupt company's board, the Obama Biden State Department began doing business with the home. Even when it remained under investigation for corruption. And it gets worse. That very same company was being investigated by a Ukrainian prosecutor. Joe Biden, the Vice President of the United States threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine unless that same prosecutor was fired. And then he was fired. Hunter only resigned from that board, just before his dad announced his campaign for president. Now let's talk about China. Fact. Joe Biden flew to China on Air Force Two with Hunter along for the ride. They said he was just there as a family member but we know that's untrue. In Beijing, Hunter didn't just go sightseeing. He had meetings with his Chinese bank partners. Hunter even arranged for his dad to meet with one of the partners. Ten days later, those Chinese communist bankers approved millions to go to Hunter's firm. And those bankers worked for the Chinese Communist Party. Which oppresses their people, cheated American workers for decades, and covered up a deadly virus. To this day, Hunter controls a ten percent stake in that firm. And Joe Biden's done more than look the other way on China. He said, the Chinese aren't our competition. Come on man They're not bad folks… Come on Joe. Talk to the folks in middle America. Who lost countless jobs to China while your son was getting rich with them. But there's more. Fact. There are the numerous press reports that have shown other close Biden family members benefited from Joe's forty seven year political career. Joe Biden was the point person on Iraq. The president of a construction firm met with Biden's team in the White House and then who did they hire to build thousands of houses in Iraq? Joe Biden's close family member, who you guessed it had no experience in the industry, and no experience in Iraq. A company official bragged that it helps to have a family member of the vice president and his partner…The family member put it more bluntly by saying there's a line of seven forty sevens filled with cash, ready to invest… Now let's follow the money down south. Again as reported in the press yet another close family member of Joe's, set his sights on Costa Rica and Jamaica, where millions of dollars flowed from the Obama Biden Administration in taxpayer back loans to projects linked to? Yes that same family member. These aren't isolated incidents. It is a deliberate pattern of conduct… And that's just what he did as vice president. Imagine what he'd do as President."

The story of Malcolm Nance in the International Legion under the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Malcolm signed a contract with the so called army branch of the Legion in the beginning of April. For a couple of months he continued to stay mostly in Lviv. He gave several authorised and coordinated interviews during this time but was not staying on any of the bases the Legion used and did not participate in the Legion’s day to day activities.
In early May he finally realised it’s not a good look that he is living his best life in Lviv while legionnaires are fighting in Eastern Ukraine or are fulfilling support roles on military bases. In June he finally managed to get to Kyiv.
When meeting the Legion’s “Kyiv team” he tried to brag. He tried to take credit for the team’s work and efforts multiple times. He expressed his wishes about wanting a seargant major position.
When this didn’t happen, he tried to proclaim himself “chief of intelligence”. In July he was complaining to several legionnaires that the commander of his unit doesn’t even let him go to where senior Ukrainian officers discussed intel, plan missions etc.
Malcolm told everyone who’d listen that he knows the President of the United States, that he has a really good relationship with Maxine Waters and VP Kamala Harris and his upcoming trip to the US is all about him lobbying for the Legion.
This trip was, in fact, nothing but a book tour. The promised “well publicised” meetings with US politicians never happened.
The hundreds of armoured vehicles “earmarked for the Legion” are still nowhere to be found.
Malcolm was not even trusted, liked or respected enough to be granted leave. When he left Ukraine for his book tour, he had to terminate his contract and sign a new one upon his return - despite his claims, this is not the standard procedure.
Malcolm returned and shortly after re-joining his first unit, he jumped ship, to join another unit. He left this unit too.
Malcolm has tried to intimidate and threaten legionnaires with everything from his alleged connections to General Pavlyuk, Minister of Defence Reznikov and of course his “million Twitter followers”.
Malcolm’s time in the Legion can be characterised by: bragging about things he has never done, angering legionnaires and losing the respect or trust of those around him.
The self proclaimed champion of the Legion is now trying to use his time and energy not to help the Legion but to destroy those who called out his bragging and who told him he can’t lie about his time in the Legion and exploit the Legion for his next book deal.
Nance has also angered people fighting in other units and branches of the Ukrainian army, not to mention how he is perceived by the veteran community in the US.
Nance was champion of nothing but bragging and was chief of nothing but an office he decked out with donor money only to then proceed to do next to no valuable work for the Legion or even his own unit.

From Fox News - Russia-Ukraine war: Biden promise to restore world order collapses as global chaos reigns
Russia-Ukraine war: Biden promise to restore world order collapses as global chaos reigns
But no more mean tweets now, right!!!
Those of you who voted for Brandon because he said he was the best one for the job, but he had not done anything in all those years as a senator and VP, are you preferring that vote??
When Trump, as Putin's supposed "stooge", was president, why didn't Putin make his move then? If you look at the history of the region, Putin only moved on Ukrainian territory when Democrats were in office, but not his supposed stooge. And in the twitterverse, one of the big threads is about Putin's big push into Kyiv is because he wants to capture the papers dealing with the Biden family's dealings with the Ukrainian government - not so much for releasing them but using them to blackmail Brandon into doing what he wants him to do.
So now China will be making a move on Taiwan, probably in the first couple of weeks in March.
Get ready Brandon, you're in for bumpy ride!!

duchessofostergotlands replied to your post: In honor of today being MAYBE THE DEMS WILL...
I’ve been busy with my internal politics with the Brexit shit show. Can you explain briefly what’s happening? Haha
Lord almighty Jesus. It has been a RIDE. Also, it’s now officially THE DEMS HAVE GOTTEN OFF THEIR ASSES AND ARE STARTING IMPEACHMENT PROCEEDINGS DAY. Praise everything. I’m gonna go Alex Morgan drunk-twerk in a sec.
So, last week a member of the DNI (Director of National Intelligence)’s staff went to Congress and said that the DNI was not letting them release a whistleblower report to Congress. That whistleblower report details several phone calls between Trump and Ukraine’s president, Volodymyr Zelinsky (who was elected this past spring). During those phone calls, Trump reportedly asked Zelinsky to authorize Ukrainian intelligence to run an investigation into Joe Biden (Obama’s VP who is currently one of many Democrat candidates for president) and his family for his own personal benefit, similar to what the Russians did to Hillary Clinton and the rest of the DNC (Democratic National Committee) in 2016. However, Trump not only threatened to, but outright ordered, the halting of crucial military aid to Ukraine until Zelinsky agreed to perform an investigation into Biden.
(It’s here where I pause to remind you all that since March of 2014 Ukraine has been at war with Russia a hostile foreign power who wants to severely weaken us and turn us into a vassal state at best and completely run us over and invade us at worst. Oh, and they’ve been colonizing us for the past 500-ish years.)
There are a number of problems with this:
The administration is required, by law, to turn over the whistleblower report to Congress. They have not turned over the whislteblower report. They are breaking the law.
Trump is withhold critical military aid from a nation trying to fight off an invasion from a hostile foreign power unless they interfered on his behalf in the 2020 presidential election. He is breaking the law (again).
On a personal level: I HAVE A SHIT TON OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS UKRAINE AND HOLY FUCK I HAVE NEVER BEEN SO ENRAGED. HE’S HOLDING US HOSTAGE TO STROKE HIS LITTLE BABY EGO.
He’s doing this to try to win reelection because the Department of Justice’s policy is to not bring charges against a sitting president. If you’ve read the Mueller report, it’s pretty freaking obvious Trump has obstruction of justice charges looming for interfering in the Mueller investigation (and other potential charges about things like tax evasion and fraud). If he loses in 2020, he’s going to have criminal charges brought against him for OOJ and a lot of other shit he’s done.
So, because of all of this, Pelosi announced that the Democrats are starting an impeachment inquiry today. You can read more about the steps on what goes into impeaching a U.S. president here, since I’ve rambled for long enough.

Russia's intrusion of Ukraine burst the inflatable of delicate concurrence between the two Slavic countries and sent significant shock waves all over the planet - a contention that, in the expressions of Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is "perhaps the best danger to worldwide harmony and security". 바카라사이트
Countermeasures by the West were everything except unavoidable, especially with regards to Russia's extension of the Crimean Peninsula from Ukraine in 2014 and the occident's feeble reaction. In any case, direct military mediation - i.e., boots on the ground and a restricted air space over Ukraine - is a red line that can't be crossed because of a paranoid fear of atomic heightening, leaving clandestine exercises (i.e., arrangement of weaponry) and the burden of monetary approvals as the main genuine multilateral choices.
In the occasion, the approvals course is the one for the most part being sought after by the West. Portrayed by president Biden as "crushing", the approvals forced on Russia, Russian government authorities and Russian organizations, as well as their partners, are the most planned and serious in late memory, with around $1 trillion in resources having been frozen.
The West's assents are likewise reassuring many driving organizations to decrease or leave their Russian tasks. Across a scope of areas, including vehicles (Ford, GM and Volkswagen), flying (Airbus and Boeing), energy (BP and Exxon), diversion (Disney and WarnerMedia), delivering (Maersk and MSC) and innovation (Apple), organizations have moved quickly to rethink their exchange with Russia - activity tune with the agreement that Russia will stay a bothersome spot to carry on with work for a long time to come.
With avoidance not feasible, the more drawn out the West's authorizations are set up, the more prominent the monetary expense for Russia. Thus, as the nation progressively makes a beeline for a condition of impractical autarky, the Russian economy, over the long haul, will have lower pay, efficiency and development.
"The West's assents on Russia have been extraordinary, both as far as their extension and the speed at which they have been carried out," says Mike Casey, an accomplice at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati. "In under a month, the European Union (EU), the US and the UK changed from controlling generally discrete Russian authorizations projects to taking on exceptionally sweeping authorizations systems."
As per Shahab Wahdatehagh, VP of worldwide exchange knowledge EMEA at Descartes, the authorizations, while for sure wide-running, center around three key regions: (I) business and monetary exchanges with not many exceptions, like the energy and oil and gas ventures; (ii) people like oligarchs or generally politically uncovered people; and (iii) the commodity of specific merchandise that fall under extra commodity controls restrictions, for example, items that might have double use applications (e.g., common and military). 에볼루션카지노
"President Putin and Russian unfamiliar pastor Sergei Lavrov have been assigned by most of western legislatures," certifies Charles Delingpole, organizer and CEO of ComplyAdvantage, "alongside an assortment of oligarchs and Russia's biggest business banks, including the state-possessed Sberbank and VTB, the two of which have had their resources frozen."
Mr Delingpole likewise notes endeavors to decrease Russia's admittance to the worldwide monetary framework, with restrictions on exchange Russian sovereign obligation, the evacuation of significant Russian monetary establishments from the SWIFT global installments informing framework, and US, EU and UK preclusions on dealings with the Russian national bank, finance service and abundance reserve.
In addition, a critical branch-off of the West's approvals measures is that organizations leading business universally should be ready to act rapidly and survey their connections to any endorsed people or organizations and their providers, outsiders, speculations, assets and clients.
"Sanctions have wide monetary effect, on the authorized substances as well as for organizations that have worked effectively in Russia and are presently stood up to with the test of tracking down new causes of supply or markets to serve," affirms Mr Wahdatehagh. "The West's scope of assents expects organizations to remain continually cutting-edge because of changes that are in many cases made consistently." 먹튀검증
"Organizations directing business globally should be ready to act rapidly and audit their connections to any authorized people or organizations and their providers, outsiders, ventures, assets and clients."
To guarantee consistence, organizations need to have a tight expected level of effort process set up to safeguard their business from possible punishments and related reputational risk if sanctions are penetrated.

Navigating an Historic Period - Economic Bubble and Anarchy
12. When Dementia Replaces Meritocracy – Economic Tornadoes Arrive
It is so much better to laugh than to cry:
1. Biden is “Leading from Behind” - Obama did not know what to do and Biden does not know what he is doing.
2. Speaking of Obama, he tested positive for the Wuhan Virus saying that he had been vaccinated three times against the virus. Then he removed all doubt about his intelligence by admonishing everyone that they should be vaccinated also. Because misery loves company?
3. Undersecretary of State Nuland (does she still have a job there?) said the USA had 13 Bioweapon Labs in Ukraine. Another report stated Obama had established those labs in the Ukraine. But the Biden White House says the USA had no such labs in the Ukraine. However, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a press release demanding the USA destroy our bioweapon labs in Ukraine. Remember the famous comedy act “Who is on first”?
4. Apparently, Putin asked the Chinese for help with the Ukrainian War and Xi declined to grab that Tar Baby. Can you hear Xi saying to Putin “Vald, thank you for thinking of me. I am a little distracted with pesky Hong Kong. But we are Buds, so I wish you well with that Ukrainian adventure. Be sure to let me know how it works out. By the way, if you discount your price on oil or fertilizer to help your economy, just let me know.”
5. The Secretary of Homeland Security announced on March 14, 2022, that anyone who is antivaccine and/or thinks Trump won the 2020 election is a Domestic Terrorist and would be arrested by Homeland Security. Since way past 50% of American think that way, perhaps the Secretary of Homeland Security should see if the USA has enough jail/prison cells before pounding his chest.
While writing this on March 16 I am headed out of state so The Love of My Life can have some Grandma Time. Please allow me to change the format this week to a forecast of the economy over the next 12 – 18 months. This forecast is based on what I believe to be the highest probability of events based upon current trends as of March 16, 2022. There are an infinite number of alternatives as this situation evolves over the balance of this year.
Russia can dominate Ukraine, but it can never win there. As long as America stands on the sideline and allows Russia to mug Ukraine, we lose…big time. Putin “sanctioned” Biden and thereby highlighted the fact that Biden is severely compromised, an American Oligarch. It makes me wonder what the Iranians have on Obama and Biden that they both keep throwing our money at those terrorists. A compromised, senile president and incompetent vice president in a world with several bad actors consumed by Satan is a recipe for WW III. That is our reality.
The whole world is laughing at the USA because of Biden and Harris. If Harris was capable of being President, the Elites that worked so hard on bending the 2020 election would replace Biden with her. While those same Elites may be proud that the USA has our first sex worker as a VP, they also know Harris cannot cackle her way to President. This situation will remain until either Biden dies or the pain of the current situation gets so high that it forces the Elites to remove their support. That will trigger a Constitutional Crisis. The question is when.
The Demented Marxists formerly known as Democrats now realize they have overplayed their hand and that the average American they consider to be “Deplorable” has no interest in Marxism. If we have honest elections in November 2022 (and that is a big “IF’), the Democrats might be able to hold their caucus in a coat closet. The outcome of the November 2022 election will determine how the coming Constitutional Crisis unfolds. The Demented Marxists realize this fact and are desperate to “bend” the 2022 election to at least minimize the damage. If you think the 2020 Election had fraud, this one will take your breath away. The best news is the Deplorables are awake and growing in number.
What is the most likely economy by December of this year. A famous American economist named Dr. John Taylor (not a Democratic Party economist who got their PhD at Sears Roebuck) developed the Taylor Rule which states that “Normal” is when the Federal Funds Rate is 1.5% above the annual rate of inflation. That means that “Normal” today is a Federal Funds Rate of 9.5%. If The Fed raised interest rates quickly to “Normal” a serious recession would occur. But interest rates below “Normal” means that interest rates are stimulative thus increase the rate of inflation.
With that background, consider these three items:
1. The Fed says they are going to engineer a “soft landing” for the real estate market which is a BUBBLE of epic proportions that the Fed has created. Hence, they are going to only raise the Federal Funds Rate by 0.25% at each of the meetings meaning The Federal Funds Rate will be less than 2% by December 2022. WELL BELOW NORMAL and encouraging inflation.
2. As a result, by December the rate of inflation could easily be 15% and headed higher. Inflation is a tax most burdensome to the Deplorables. Think election.
3. As gasoline increases to perhaps $6 or$7 per gallon and food skyrockets in price, the average American consumer will have to cut back on other household expenses. With consumer spending 70% of the American economy, when the consumer cuts back their spending that is called a RECESSION.
Therefore, the most likely economic scenario for December of this year is that America is in Recession with inflation running at perhaps 15% and The Fed raising interest rates. That is called Stagflation, stagnant economy with inflation. It is also called UGLY. The Fed will realize they have lost control of inflation and address the situation by remembering the Taylor Rule turning the recession into an economic tornado. When that happens, how will Deplorables feel about Demented Marxists formerly known as Democrats with their Modern Monetary Theory and CRT, etc.? Will the pain be intense enough to trigger the Constitutional Crisis?
As the world laughs at America because of Biden and Harris, Satan possessed world leaders recognize this period is their chance at fulfilling their evil desires. Our hope of avoiding World War III rest on the level of pain from the Biden Harris Administration becoming so intense that combined with the Republicans electing a supermajority in both houses of Congress such that the outcome of the Constitution Crisis is a business head elected as President who will right our ship like Ronald Reagan did in 1980. The alternative, economic chaos in the middle of WW III.
Because our current government is in the control of mentally ill people who worship power and their personal wealth, the Demented Marxists, we are facing an epic crisis. Not a bad storm but a tornado what leaves destruction in its path. The critical question is whether the elections in November of this year will be honest and provide a relief valve for the anger and pain that is building. The worst is still ahead of us, but I am hopeful that the Demented Marxists have awakened enough Deplorables to change our course. Pray, have faith, stay focused on our Lord and Savior.
Also, please pray:
1. For the 598 surviving Americans being held as political prisoners by Biden and the Demented Marxists in hell hole conditions in the DC Gulag.
2. For the Canadian and American truckers who are fighting for your freedom.
3. For honest elections because they are the fulcrum of our American experiment.
4. For the valiant Ukrainians.
A great piece of land remains The Best investment long term, but every portfolio should contain some cash because in the coming recession “Cash will be King”. Focus on the Truth, The Way, and The Light. Just like 2022 years ago, those consumed by the world are living in the dark and do not understand that their power, economic or political or both, is worthless. Men make plans, but God ALWAYS wins.
Let’s Go Brandon!
“Whatever you ask for in prayer with faith, you will receive.

2020
Week 30: July 20-26
20: Iran executes Mahmoud Mousavi-Majd, who was convicted in 2018 of spying on the country’s now-assassinated General Qasem Soleimani; he allegedly worked with both Mossad and the CIA. Meanwhile, the New York Times reports that face masks are becoming museum-goers’ favoured souvenir. Won’t lie - I would buy several of these. The paper also reports on the growing schism between Donald Trump and Republican Governors. With case-loads climbing and little federal support from the mask-weary Trump, these state leaders have bypassed Trump and sought out support from elsewhere in the administration - namely his second-in-command, VP Mike Pence.
Masks designed by Virgil Abloh, Mark Grotjahn, Alex Israel, Barbara Kruger, Yoko Ono, Catherine Opie, Pipilotti Rist, Hank Willis Thomas, and The Andy Warhol Foundation for Visual Arts for Los Angeles’ MOCA - MOCA
21: A Ukrainian man takes 16 people hostage aboard a public bus in the city of Lutsk. They’re freed, unharmed, after hours of negotiations that saw the country’s president Volodymyr Zelensky capitulate to demands and issue a Facebook post encouraging his followers to watch the 2005 vegan documentary Earthlings. The government of BC issues COVID-safety sex guidelines that encourage, uh, self-satisfaction, wearing masks during intercourse and the use of gloryholes. So an all-around weird news day.
22: Japan, Australia Hong Kong record their highest daily increase in COVID cases - while Indonesia reports its deadliest day yet with 139 new deaths. The United States orders China to close its Houston-based consulate - an angered China will retaliate in the coming days by closing the United States’ consulate in Chengdu. The Trump administration also issues notice that they will be sending a surge of federal officers into Chicago, Albuquerque, Baltimore and Philadelphia to assist with “crime reduction” through Operation LeGend. These cities mayors, of course, have not been informed of this and learn via the press conference... which is always the best way to learn vital new information about the city you’re supposed to be running.
In archaeological news - human-made tools dating to 26,500 are discovered in Mexico. Why is this relevant? Because it calls into question the time-honoured tale western thought preaches about how the continent was populated - the Berring Land Bridge migrations are generally theorized to have happened 13,000-20,000 years ago. Many of the Elders I worked with thought the Berring Land bridge was pretty hokey.
23: A 93-year-old former Nazi guard is convicted in Hamburg - it will likely be one of the very last Holocaust trials the country will see. Bruno Dey, then 17, served as a prison guard for Stutthof concentration camp near Gdansk Poland from August 1944 to April 1945. He was convicted of 5,230 counts of accessory to murder - one for each of the people who are believed to have perished in the camp during his 9 months at the camp. He is given a two year suspended sentence.
Cosmopolitan Magazine
23 again: Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio Cortez delivers a speech in congress rebuking a pattern of sexist bullying - especially at the hands of conservative lawmakers. Her comments were precipitated by a dust-up with Floridian Congressman Ted Yoho who called her ‘disgusting’, ‘crazy’ and ‘a fucking bitch’. The comments were witnessed - and thus reported - by journalists at the Capitol prompting the politician to issue a health-hearted apology, saying he was sorry for the misunderstanding, but that he refused to “apologize for my passion or for loving my god, my family, and my country”. He shields himself from scrutiny by saying he is a father of daughters and has a Real Human Wife and thus meant no harm to ladies. AOC suffers no fools. This is a terrible apology, inadequate in every way. It is emblematic of a Republican party that has denied women a place at the table, attempted to curtail their rights, ignored their issues, and perpetuated abusive language and bullying. She says: “I want to thank [Yoho] for showing the world that you can be a powerful man and accost women. You can have daughters and accost women without remorse. You can be married and accost women. You can take photos and project an image to the world of being a family man and accost women without remorse and with a sense of impunity. It happens every day in this country. It happened here on the steps of our nation’s Capitol. It happens when individuals who hold the highest office in this land admit — admit — to hurting women and using this language against all of us.”
24: Swifties rejoice as Taylor drops surprise quarn-album Folklore - it’s, honestly, gorgeous. An arsonist sets the headquarters of the Arizona Democratic Party on fire. Recent polls suggest the party’s presumptive candidate, former Vice President Joe Biden, with a lead over incumbent Donald Trump. In Portland, meanwhile, protests have continued to escalate. A “Wall of veterans” joins the city’s yellow-shirted “Wall of Moms” and orange-clad “Wall of Dads” to stand with protesters. They stand in support of a Navy Veteran, Chris David, who was violently struck down by federal forces during last week’s protests. They also want to counter the Trump administration’s narrative that the Portland protesters are violent anarchists and radical thugs.
Corpus Christi, Texas is flooded by surging waters during Hurricane Hanna, July 25 - Tamir Kalifa/The New York Times
25: Hurricane Hanna is bearing down on Texas - the first full hurricane of the 2020 season. In very-specific-Canadian news: the large roadside attraction Apple outside of Colbourne Ontario - which, have to say, makes very mediocre pies - has now donned a COVID mask.
26: John Lewis’ casket is driven across the Edmond Pettus Bridge in a horse-drawn carriage. The civil rights icon led a march across the bridge in 1965 to protest for the black vote. His casket will lie in state in Washington during the coming week before his funeral at Martin Luther King Jr’s church, the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta. His pastor, Raphael Warnock, delivered the sermon while former Presidents Bill Clinton, George Bush and Barack Obama offered eulogies.

FBI Rushes Into Q Town After Hunter The Hunted And Obama Banker Bobo The Clown
By: Sorcha Faal,
A gobsmacking highly-classified “Of Special Importance” new Security Council (SC) report circulating in the Kremlin today discussing the massive criminal investigation undertaken by the Federal Security Service (FSB), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) involving now in US custody Russian citizen Maxim Boyko, says the initiation of this international law enforcement action began soon after President Donald Trump took power in 2017—whose legal foundation was built upon a 2014 ruling by the Texas Supreme Court that refused to rip away the cloak of anonymity from a blogger named The Trooper who likened secretive multi-billionaire Robert T. Brockman to Bernie Madoff, Satan and Bobo the Clown—and whose conclusion of was reached yesterday when the Department of Justice announced the takedown of the international criminal money laundering group QQAAZZ—an announcement immediately followed FBI Special Agent Michael Christman authorizing international arrest actions to begin—that unleashed the unprecedented international law enforcement operation involving 16 countries that resulted in the arrest of 20 individuals suspected of belonging to the QQAAZZ money laundering criminal network—an international criminal takedown that included Texas multi-billionaire Robert T. Brockman, whom the Department of Justice charged with the biggest tax evasion case in American history involving a staggering $2-billion—and—Robert F. Smith, the close personal friend of former President Obama who heads the American financial investment firm Vista Equity Partners, but who is now cooperating in this investigation and has agreed to pay $139-million to settle his own tax probe.
All of whose stunning events were followed by President Trump appearing at a town hall event last evening where he refused to disavow QAnon in its entirety because he said he knows nothing about this mysterious group except that they fight pedophilia—a fight against pedophilia the mysterious QAnon organization links with global money laundering—and after global criminal money laundering child sex slaver Jeffrey Epstein was captured, saw even the leftist New York Magazine in their Intelligencer section publishing their July-2019 article “So Was QAnon … Right?”—that itself was followed two days ago by the shock New York Post article “Smoking-Gun Email Reveals How Hunter Biden Introduced Ukrainian Businessman To VP Dad”—emails that came from the computer of Hunter Biden that the FBI took into their possession through a grand jury subpoena—thus leaving it unexplained as to when this US federal grand jury impaneled, and what crimes it is investigating—a chilling clue about, however, can be seen in this subpoena to seize Hunter Biden’s computer being issued by FBI Special Agent Joshua Wilson, who is best known for his work in the child pornography division of the FBI—and as to why the top child pornography expert in the FBI would want Hunter Biden’s computer, a horrifying clue about has just been revealed by One American News Network reporter Chanel Rion, who is the chief White House reporter for what is called President Trump’s favorite news network—and after her viewing the entire hard drive of Hunter Biden’s computer, caused the explosive article “IT’S GOING TO GET REAL: OANN Reporter Chanel Rion Has Seen the Hunter Biden Video — Get Ready for Projectile Puking!”—wherein it reveals White House reporter Chanel Rion saying: “Just saw for myself a behind the scenes look at the #HunterBiden hard drive: Drugs, underage obsessions, power deals...Druggie Hunter makes Anthony Weiner's down under selfie addiction look normal…#BidenCrimeFamily has a lot of apologizing to do...So does Big Tech”. [Note: Some words and/or phrases appearing in quotes in this report are English language approximations of Russian words/phrases having no exact counterpart.]
FBI seizing of “underage obsessed” Hunter Biden’s computer for grand jury collides in Q Town with Department of Justice criminal cooperation deal reached with close Obama banking friend Robert F. Smith (bottom photo right).
According to the limited portions of this highly-classified report permitted to be openly discussed among various ministries, following the unprecedented and historic visit to Washington D.C. by Russia’s top three intelligence directors in January-2018 to meet with their American counterparts, the Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR) has designated as highly probable the QAnon assertion that American intelligence assets like former Special Counsel Robert Mueller have been secretly working with President Trump to expose the socialist Democrats and their massive criminal network—a designation based on the known the abilities of the private intelligence service President Trump created upon his taking office in 2017—and whose latest operation includes a man named John Paul Mac Isaac, who claims that Hunter Biden, but he can’t be sure, gave his laptop computer to him for repairs then abandoned it—and during a one hour interview given to reporters, saw him saying the FBI seized this computer after he made a copy of its hard drive, with his stating: “They probably knew I had a copy because I was pretty vocal about not wanting to get murdered, so I’m going to have a copy”.
Aside from the FBI, this report details, the contents of this hard drive are in the sole possession of and have only been viewed by media sources fiercely loyal to President Trump—specifically the New York Post, who after their initial bombshell article exposing socialist Democrat Party leader Joe Biden’s lies about his son Hunter’s corrupt and criminal business dealings in Ukraine, have just published their next one titled “Emails Reveal How Hunter Biden Tried To Cash In Big On Behalf Of Family With Chinese Firm”—both of which, and the other ones like them soon to come, are based on indisputable evidence, which is why they aren’t being denied, only suppressed and covered up.
In watching these past nearly four years all of the truth and facts about President Trump being innocent of everything he was accused of being suppressed and covered up, while at the same time all of Hillary Clinton’s, Obama’s and Biden’s crimes were kept hidden, this report notes, there is no doubt at all that the shocking revelations being exposed from Hunter Biden’s computer could have likewise been suppressed and kept hidden—but instead of happening this time, saw the Streisand Effect being employed—which is the social phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of further publicizing that information—and occurred when Facebook and Twitter went on a censorship rampage against everything having to do with Hunter Biden’s computer revelations—a censorship rampage they never used against the lies told about President Trump—which is why it’s being called “A declaration of war on America’s electoral process by the unelected tech oligarch class”—a declaration of war not being joined by video social media giant YouTube, that’s not censored or banned anything about Hunter Biden—but becomes explainable when knowing that YouTube is owned by tech giant Google, whom President Trump is about to slam with an imminent and crushing federal antitrust lawsuit.
As to the end game being planned by President Trump for this intelligence operation, this report concludes, one can only surmise that it will be earth shattering in its climax—a reality known to former disgraced CIA Director John Brennan, which is why he is warning that “the next 100 days leading up to the inauguration may be especially dangerous...I am very concerned”—and also known to the panicked leftist forces at the University of Pennsylvania’s Center for Ethics and the Rule of Law and Washington-based Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, and is why they have just presented to socialist Democrats in the US Congress a 267-page document that demands United States Attorney General William Barr be immediately impeached—all of whom are living in terror for their having incited the full wrath of a President Trump who years ago “vowed to spend the rest of his life seeking revenge on those harming him”—and who today is the most powerful man in the world able to exact his truly righteous revenge against everyone who tried to bring him down.

Biden Gives Answer on Court Packing
LOS ANGELES (OnlineColumnist.com), Oct. 10, 2020.--Repeatedly asked whether or not he’d pack the court if he wins the Nov. 3 presidential election, 77-year-old former Vice President Joe Biden refused to answer the question, claiming it plays into 74-year-old President Donald Trump’s hands. Asked whether the public “deserves” to know what he’d do with the Supreme Court if elected, Biden said, “No they don’t deserve to know because I’m not going to play Donald Trump’s games,” essentially admitting he will in fact pack the court. For over 150 years the Supreme Court has had nine justices, varying over time between liberal, moderate and conservative jurists, depending on which president makes the picks. With Trump and the GOP Senate poised to confirm 48-year-old Amy Coney Barrett, both Biden and his running mate Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) were mum on the subject of packing the court and ending the filibuster.
When Trump and Biden debated Sept. 29, Biden was asked about court packing but refused to answer, essentially admitting that everything would be on the table if he wins the Nov. 3 election. Fence-sitting voters can’t like what they’re hearing from former President Barack Obama’s Vice President. Trump raised some other red flags in the debate, something the Democrat-friendly media refused to cover, including whether Biden’s corruption while VP landed his 50-year-old son Hunter a $183,000 a month job on a corrupt Ukrainian energy board Burisma Holdings. Biden told the Council on Foreign Relations [CFR] Jan. 28, 2018, that he got the lead Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko by threatening to withhold $1 billion in foreign aid. Shokin was investigating Burisma Holdings where Joe’s son Hunter held a lucrative job.
No one in the media can ask Joe about Hunter or about whether he’ll pack the court because it’s all off-limits. When Trump raised the Hunter issue at the Sept. 29 debate, Joe said it’s all been discredited by his cherry picked media. In reality, Joe engaged in egregious, brazen corruption landing his son a job on a corrupt Ukrainian energy company when he was supposed to be running Obama’s anti-corruption task force. Media’s grave hatred for Trump is willing to ignore Joe’s undeniable corruption and support for Syrian terror groups that caused 500,000 deaths and 15 million refugees, practically breaking the European Union [EU], driving the U.K. out with Brexit. Obama and Biden toppled Col. Muammar Gaddafi Oct. 20, 2011, flooding Libya with terrorism resulting in the Benghazi attack Sept. 11, 2012, killing 52-year-old U.S. Amb. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans.
No, that’s all off limits for the media as they trash Trump before the election. Biden can do no wrong. He has all the smug answers for how he’d deal with the coronvirus AKA SARS CoV-2 or Covid-19 crisis. Judging by his public comments, he has no answer other that telling people to wear masks. Democrats and the media don’t care how Biden would wreck the U.S. economy, currently suffering one of the worst recessions since the Great Depression. While the economy under Trump is poised to come back as the economy opens up after the Covid-19 crisis, Biden promises to raise taxes and go off fossil fuels, something that would bankrupt the country. If anyone really thinks Biden knows anything about trade deals or running the economy, they’re kidding themselves. Biden’s economic and foreign policies have been a disaster while serving eight years as Obama’s VP.
Biden won’t talk about what he’ll do with the Supreme Court if elected because frankly he doesn’t know what forces will impact his decision-making. Between interruptions from Fox New moderator Chris Wallace and Biden hurling silly insults, Trump admitted he was debating two people. Wallace is a well-known Trump-hating journalist, doing everything possible to help “Sleepy Joe” look good. Can you imagine Wallace asking Trump and Biden about the Covid-19 and climate change? Wonder who that’s designed to make look bad? Yet even with Wallace setting Trump up, Trump still managed to defend himself against all odds. One of the memorable exchanges involved Biden talking about how Trump needs to get “smarter” about Covid-19. Trump said “there’s nothing smart about you Joe, you finished last in your class,” never attended Delaware State, a historic black college.
Trump’s behind the Eight Ball fighting the Democrat and media fake establishment. Biden regurgitated former Washington Post journalist-turned-Democrat-political hack Bob Woodward’s claim that Trump “downplayed” the virus Jan. 28. Well guess what, there were only a few cases and no deaths when Woodward interviewed Trump. From that sound bite, Democrats fashioned Biden’s entire campaign, blaming Trump for over 200,000 deaths. No matter how preposterous, that’s fed by Democrats and the media to the public. One thing can be said for sure about the U.S. media: They are the masters, not Russia or China, of propaganda and disinformation. No one blows more smoke than the U.S. media. Trump said it best to Joe, “there’s nothing smart about you,” but who’s listening. Unless Trump can pull a rabbit out of his hat, thing’s don’t look good for Nov. 3.

Silverman: Trump’s cheating has always been in plain sight
#dothey☑️ 🏆 ✔️ 🚩
more news https://northdenvernews.com
Cheaters never prosper. Or do they? We get our answer in November.
If the election is a cheating contest, just mark down Donald as your winner. Especially if he holds the Sharpie. Or the ballots. No one cheats more or better than Trump. This is where our president excels.
Trump’s cheating is hardly hidden. Mobsters like people to witness their misdeeds and then say they saw nothing. Trump then controls those people. Now that’s power.
Craig Silverman
Louis DeJoy is our newly appointed Trumpster Postmaster General. At Trump’s not-so-hidden direction, DeJoy is simultaneously ruining the postal service and democracy, two cherished American institutions.
Cory Gardner, elected in 2014 via mailed ballots, is avoiding Trump’s postal attacks. Colorado’s outgoing senator’s gone fishing with his family in the wilderness. Who wouldn’t hide? Trump and DeJoy are indefensible.
The sham Senate impeachment trial proved Gardner’s a Trump-owned accessory. The Ukrainian Shakedown was an effort to cheat to win the 2020 election. More evidence about Russia’s 2016 cheating for Trump will soon emerge from Gardner’s U.S. Senate.
No amount of cheating will enable Gardner or Trump to win Colorado. But battleground swing states are susceptible to cheating. Funny thing, though. Americans generally like mail. We rely on that unofficial motto of the USPS that promises delivery of our mail no matter the conditions.
Most people fear messing with the mail. Doing so violates the U.S. Code and can land you in Leavenworth or FCI-Englewood. Perhaps federal crimes are no big deal if your boss has pardon power. Besides, Trump recently confessed he’s messing with the mail to stop all mail voting in America.
READ: Colorado Sun opinion columnists.
Colorado must react because this is how we vote. We have gold standard elections. We have benefited from law-abiding Colorado Secretaries of State from both parties, Republican Wayne Williams and now, Democrat Jena Griswold.
As for federal voting rights’ officials, we have Trump’s corrupt consigliere, AG Bill Barr, who regularly cheats for the president. Watch out! Prepare for arrests and indictments and flagrant abuses of the rule of law. Thank goodness Barr’s Justice Department’s efforts to silence Michael Cohen have failed thus far.
Mary Trump, the president’s niece, could not be silenced. This credentialed psychologist wrote compellingly of the manifest mental health and morality issues permeating the progeny of Fred and Elizabeth Trump, especially their favored son, Donald.
Mary Trump’s knowledge of dirty deeds is distant compared to the ribald recounting expected from her Uncle Donald’s fixer lawyer, Michael Cohen. This bombshell foreword to Cohen’s tell-all bestseller, Disloyal, whets our appetites. Finally, a made man in the Trump mob willing to spill his guts.
Trump and his cronies have committed many crimes. Post-election prosecution and prison are on the mind of this desperate president, who will do everything possible to avoid accountability. The next several months are perilous. Add to it the pandemic that Trump keeps botching, and America is in real trouble.
Call in an experienced ex-prosecutor. I like it! Kamala Harris claims the case against Trump and Mike Pence is open and shut. Sen. Harris is by far the best Dem pick at this moment in history.
The best Trump’s got on Harris is to have his senior legal adviser, Colorado attorney Jenna Ellis, tweet the Dem VP nominee’s voice sounds like Marge Simpson. Ellis also backs Trump’s racist birtherism tactic against another Black candidate. Asinine attacking of immutable human characteristics reveals the cruel and bigoted stupidity of Trumpism and its adherents. It’s wearing thin. Even on Marge Simpson.
Taylor Swift has also had enough. This all-American superstar understands Trump is a blatant cheating challenge to our nation. America’s president is using Swift’s troubled nemesis, Kanye West, as a vote disrupter for Democrats in states like Colorado where Republican operatives helped the rapper onto the presidential ballot. Haters gonna hate. Cheaters gonna cheat.
Colorado’s own Rick Reilly has known Trump for three decades. They met as fellow celebrities at the AT&T Celebrity golf tournament at Pebble Beach. Trump sought out the famous sportswriter, because he and Marla Maples wanted Rick to write about The Donald.
Wow, did Reilly ever do that, culminating with the 2019 publication of Commander in Cheat – How Golf explains Trump. This richly researched expose hilariously pulled down The Donald’s golf pants and would have humiliated a normal human. Chapter after chapter reveals the myriad ways Trump egregiously cheats at every conceivable aspect of golf.
Reilly described Trump to me as a fabulist who, when caught flagrantly cheating, tells the witness he cheats on his wife, he cheats in business, and so of course, he’s going to cheat on his own golf course. Trump feels like he owns America and can get away with anything. Lord help us.
OUR UNDERWRITERS SUPPORT JOURNALISM. BECOME ONE.
Jena Griswold put it best when she told me that, beyond the voting suppression, this mail messing tactic will lead to fatalities. Trump can’t even pronounce “fatalities.” All Trump cares about is an appearance of Trump winning.
It now appears Trump’s a loser headed for ignominy. And perhaps incarceration. Trump losing bigly will advance that adage about cheaters never prospering.

Articles Delivered
THU JAN 16 2020
The articles of impeachment for Donald Trump were finally delivered to the Senate yesterday, after the Speaker named her seven impeachment managers, with Adam Schiff at the head.
Later that night, The Rachel Maddow Show broadcast an exclusive interview with Lev Parnas, former henchman of Rudy Giulinani, who is currently under indictment for helping to set up Ukranian straw donors to Trump’s 2020 campaign.
It was early last October that his name first hit the news after he, and his fellow Giuliani goon, Igor Fruman were arrested by the Feds at Dulles International Airport near DC, both with one way tickets to Ukraine... the charge being that they were both part of a plot to funnel money from Ukrainian donors into the Trump campaign.
But on Wednesday night, Parnas, a first generation U.S. citizen with ancestry in Ukraine sang like a bird on national television, talking to Maddow, not about some straw donor scheme with Igor Fruman... but about how closely he worked with Rudy Giuliani, and was essentially the bulldog carrying out orders from Giuliani and Trump in the scheme to extort Ukrainian leadership for dirt on Joe Biden.
I say, “leadership,” because according to Parnas, Trump and company first attempted to lean on President Poroshenko earlier in 2019, before he lost the election to Zelenski in April... and I say, “extort,” because they were basically trying everything they could think of to put pressure on Ukraine’s leader to announce an investigation into Hunter Biden... from having Mike Pence cancel on the inauguration, to, eventually... withholding needed military aid.
On that last point... just today, the GOA, or the Congressional Government Accountability Office, publicly announced their finding that it was illegal for the Trump administration to hold up the military aid money Congress had slated to go to Ukraine.
The Trump administrations official defense had been that the money was held up because of a, “policy issue,” but the GOA found that policy issues are not a legal reason to block Congressional power of the purse, and was in fact, an illegal abuse of Executive power.
But back to Lev, and his interview with Maddow Wednesday night... He basically corroborated everything that was already told to Congress by other witnesses late last year, and had a ton of receipts to back himself up, in the form of contemporaneous notes, voice mail messages, and other damning evidence.
However, he went further, to clear up exactly why Marie Yovanovitch, the former ambassador to Ukraine and Congressional witness in the impeachment inquiry, was targeted by Trump for removal from her station.
She wasn’t simply a goody-two-shoes who stood in the way of the Trumpian plot to extort Zelenski... but when Zelenski continued to rebuff the pressure to announce any kind of investigation into Biden, they found another Ukranian prosecutor who promised to deliver the desired dirt on Biden... in exchange for getting rid of Yovanovitch, whom he personally despised.
Parnas also implicated Secretary of State Pompeo, AG William Barr, and VP Mile Pence himself in the extortion plot, echoing Gordon Sondland’s testimony last fall, that everybody was in the loop. Everybody knew what was going on, and Trump himself was running the show.
It should be noted here, that the House had already obtained copies of all this testimony and these documents from Parnas’ lawyer to pass along to the Senate along with the Impeachment Articles, as early as Tuesday, and had already released that to the public in text form Tuesday night... so it was already in the news, but then Parnas did his surprise interview the next night, concurrent with the formal transmission of the articles.
Maddow had been after Parnas for an interview since last October, but he finally agreed to do one on Wednesday, because it was the day the impeachment trial was formally set into motion... and he made it clear that he was willing to testify to the Senate as part of that trial... adding that between him and John Bolton... the Senate would have all they needed to convict.
That whole matter of whether or not witnesses will be allowed to testify at the impeachment trial is still not settled, with McConnell and his clan still dead set against it... so, it seems that Parnas timed his interview to have maximum effect on breaking their resolve or... at least getting his testimony indelibly into the public consciousness.
People question his motives, but to me it seems that straight up revenge would be plenty good enough.
Parnas was an extremely loyal goon for Trump, lowering himself, to some extent, to being Giuliani’s servant... as he had been bankrolling both Giuliani and Trump to some extent, with his own donations.*
But after the heat came, on September 24th (Dalton Day) with Pelosi’s announcement of an impeachment inquiry... Lev and his Ukrainian counterpart Igor Fruman got thrown under the bus only a couple weeks later.
Michael Cohen, Trump’s fixer befor Giulinani, did much the same thing after he was sucked up by the Mueller investigation and thrown behind bars. He too found religion and turned on Trump, doing his level best, at the time, to bring the ass hole down.
But that was before the mid-terms, before Barr was appointed as AG, and before the Mueller investigation was shut down an buried.
This time around, with Parnas... the whole thing’s on Maddow... with an impeachment trial about to begin... at the start of an election year.
You can bet your bottom ruble, no Republican Senator went unshook in the wake of Wednesday night’s interview.
One House Republican woke this morning to the ground actually shaking beneath him... good old Devin Nunes, who had to run around on TV trying to do damage control about the fact that phone records turned up in the impeachment investigation had shown he had a lot of contact with Lev Parnas over the period that the whole extortion scam was going down.
So far, no Senator has been directly linked to the conspiracy... but it’s fairly obvious that both McConnell and Graham are neck deep in it, by their public displays of contempt for the whole impeachment process, which diametrically counter everything they said about the constitutional matter back in the 90s when it was Clinton in the hot seat.
For some GOP Senators, this probably is just a problem of pandering to the base to get reelected. But for McConnell and Graham, I’m guessing the stakes right now are keeping themselves out of prison.
That is, or should be Trump’s main motivation right now, to stay in office, as he’s looking at SDNY indictments that cannot be pardoned, will put him away, and on which the clock is stopped until he leaves office.
For any Congressional partners in crime... and just pick your crime... the certainty of prison is all the more real, should their involvement ever come to light. So... all the more reason to keep the big boss in power, and keep his friendly AG in power too!
You might say I have no grounds to think that McConnell and Graham are guilty of any criminal offenses, but... they both sure have sold their souls to the acquittal of a constitutional criminal at any cost so... that itself is criminal, no?
This brings us to the news of today, which was that Chief Justice Roberts was sworn in to preside over the trial, after which he collectively swore in all the Senators, who then had to sign their names in an, “Oath Book” on camera.
That Oath...
“Do you solemnly swear that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of Donald John Trump, President of the United States, now pending, you will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and the laws, so help you, God?”
I’ll just leave that there for future reference as we see how the actors who held up their right hand in front of the Chief Justice of the United States... highest judge of them all, swore in the affirmative, and then signed their names in a book that will still be here when the sun swallows the Earth, as recorded on video that will also last until the sun swallows the Earth... comport themselves in the weeks to come as this trial unfolds.
You can bet your bottom ruble that the whole time it’s going on, more and more damning information is going to come to light outside the Senate chambers, in the media, with perhaps more would-be witnesses telling their story to news anchors like Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper if blocked from doing so under oath.
This is why I say that the real impeachment trial will happen in the news media, and on social media... if the Senate GOP attempt to ram through an acquittal with no witnesses, no new evidence, etc.
And in the quest to attain that goal, they’ll not only rankle the Chief Justice a bit, but become defendants in that larger public trial... in which the jurors are the electorate.
But... I’m getting ahead of myself now.
Impeachment Trial for Trump begins next Tuesday.
I’m going to bed.
*It’s still unclear at the time of writing where exactly Lev Parnas’ wealth is coming from. Google searches are unclear. He’s either wealthy on his own, or he’s being backed by some other more wealthy party for some unclear reason.
The impression I’m getting tonight, however, is that Parnas bought himself into Trump’s circle of influence, and was arguably superior to Rudy Giuliani, in terms of raw money... but willingly served as a goon for Giuliani, because Trump ordered it to be so.

Joe Biden frightens Donald Trump (opinion)
Counties where COVID-19 cases are growing fastest Republican senators refuse to back Trump’s 'treason' claim against Obama CNN logoJoe Biden frightens Donald Trump (opinion) Much has been made of the spectacular flop that was President Trump's planned campaign re-launch in Tulsa over the weekend. But one of the most revealing moments got too little attention.
It was almost an afterthought in the middle of a nearly two-hour speech and improv when Trump rolled out his principal attack on Joe Biden. And in doing so, Trump also tipped his hand as to why he feared Biden so much that he bought himself an impeachment trying to dirty up the former Vice President.
"If the Democrats gain power, then the rioters will be in charge and no one will be safe and no one will have control," proclaimed the self-styled "law-and-order president" in the midst of his long, disorderly presentation. "Joe Biden is not the leader of his party. Joe Biden is a helpless puppet of the radical left."
The lines he appeared to ad-lib about Biden next were unintentionally revealing.
"He's not radical left. I don't think he knows what he is anymore, but he was never radical left. But he's controlled by the radical left, and now he's really controlled."
Donald Trump is a cultural warrior. His politics depends on mining the fear and resentment of white, working class voters who feel they are on the losing end of economic and demographic change.
Joe Biden is culturally inconvenient for Trump's re-election project. An older, white, Irish Catholic from a working-class Pennsylvania family, Biden is just not frightening enough to the voters Trump needs to scare.
Trump has recognized this from the start. It's why he leaned so hard on the President of Ukraine last summer to open a baseless investigation into Biden and his son Hunter's board membership of a Ukrainian energy company.
Now Trump has the matchup he hoped to avoid. And his comments on Saturday underscored both why he fears Biden and what line of attack he will attempt to use to shove the race back into the cultural framework Trump believes will motivate his base. (Whether his base is large enough to win is another story.)
Trump's acknowledgment that Biden is not "radical left," was an admission that to try to paint the former VP as extreme was a losing proposition. So instead, Trump will try to portray Biden as the addled, doddering tool, too weak to resist the gravitational pull of the Left.
Trump is relying on Biden's occasionally uneven performances to support his argument. But Biden has been relatively disciplined in his comments since the Covid-19 outbreak began, and his team has been strategic about how and where he has appeared, mainly via Zoom, while it is Trump who has suffered from overexposure.
The President who suggested to the nation that consuming disinfectant might be a ready cure for Covid-19 opens himself up to a vicious counterpunch if he stakes his candidacy on attacking another man's mental acuity. Yet that is where he is going. That is the best shot he has.
Biden's most salient qualities -- empathy, decency, experience -- have always offered a valuable contrast to Trump's most glaring deficiencies as a leader. They have become even more pronounced in this period of trial and unrest, during which the cost of Trump's narcissism, divisiveness and inability to manage crises has come into sharper focus.
In February, the odds favored the re-election of the president. Today, they have shifted in favor of the challenger. This was symbolized by the startling sea of empty blue seats Trump confronted in Tulsa, as he offered up a melange of 1970 culture war hits: flag-burning, leftist mob rule, socialism, the confiscation of guns and toppling of Confederate icons.
Still, as Trump madly pushes these tried and true buttons, he's not getting the desired reaction. He is underperforming among the non-college white and evangelical voters whose overwhelming support facilitated his narrow electoral victory over Hillary Clinton four years ago.
Add this to a seismic move among suburban voters against Trump, who carried the suburbs in 2016, and a lesser but significant shift from voters over 65 who also favored Trump in '16 but now give Biden the edge, and you can see the president's challenge.
Biden's age, background, and demographic profile may have been an obstacle in nailing down the nomination of an increasingly diverse Democratic Party, but it is working for him now.
For a white culture warrior like Trump, old Joe Biden is proving to be a vexing target.

Isn’t it funny how republicans are saying Biden shouldn’t be president because his son was on the board of a Ukrainian company while Biden was VP but Trump shouldn’t be impeached for personally calling the president of Ukraine and working out political deals that are not in the US’s best interest while sitting in the White House?
