V Muse Jewelry
duchessofostergotlands:
What do we know about this V Muse place? Seems strange they just popped up and started laying out huge sums of money for tiaras!
I've been researching them because I was wondering the same thing. The were the official jeweler for Le Bal last year too and I had never heard of them before. I looked into them a bit more this year and I found out that they are not an antique/estate jeweler like I thought.
They were founded in 2017 by Alex Fan and Vivian Jia as East Langkun International Culture. They had been collecting items and working with museums in 2009. So they are an art institute and are not selling any of the jewels.
East Langkun is an international culture institution headquartered in Beijing. It is dedicated to the exploration, discover, and protection of artworks worldwide, and is highly reputed by it's achievements in academic research and conservation, cultural exchanged, museum operations, exhibitions and publications
Then in 2018 they went on a huge buying spree spending millions and millions of dollars buying jewelry at auctions. Like seriously the amount of money they spent in that year alone is ridiculous. It's not unusual for rich people to buy a lot of jewelry but usually it's done over a much longer time period. They also usually either hoard it in a vault or loan it to a museum in a dedicated hall with their name really big over the door.
Before they partnered with Le Bal in 2022, they changed their name from East Langkun to V Muse. The websites and inventories are the same. I was confused last year because V Muse keeps calling themselves a brand so I thought they were selling the jewelry.
East Langkun
V Muse
It's a little odd for an art institute to loan items to be worn like this but I enjoy seeing the jewelry worn so I'm not complaining. They also have lots of pictures and information on their website and loan the jewelry to museums and exhibitions. I have no idea where all that money came from but I guess if I suddenly became a billionaire I'd do the same thing.

@duchessofostergotlands
But you’ve never had to make conversations with Prince Andrew so who won in the long run?
This is a very good point that I had not considered

Ok, before there’s anymore misunderstandings of what I was trying to say with my comments, I misunderstood exactly what was said in the post and I want to clarify. I’m not a conservative and I don’t agree with the anti-drag narrative in the US or the UK. Jessica, I thought you said you weren’t sure where conservatives adopting the anti-drag narrative from the US to the UK came from so I was bringing the perspective that I’ve seen of what has happened in the US in the comments as a reason I’m sure many anti people here have brought up to support their anti-lgbtq agenda—though the main reason is obviously to find a reason of being against the community expressing and being themselves because obviously not everyone in the community is a predator. But instead you just said it’s weird seeing conservatives here in the UK adopting the US’s anti-drag narrative. I have brought up plenty of things for example or perspective from another side in the past even if it’s from people I don’t believe or if I don’t always support the view—not because the reason’s justifiable because drag isn’t the issue, it’s predators, and being in the lgbtq+ community doesn’t make you one.
I didn’t bring up the inappropriate drag shows that have happened in the US towards kids as a way to say this is a good example as to why countries should be anti-drag, I was just saying a reason (that I don’t agree with) that some conservatives would use to make drag seem as something that’s just by predators but predatory things have happened in other places and the concept of drag isn’t a predatory thing, it’s about expressing themselves in a fun way. Obviously predators are everywhere but I didn’t mean for it to look like I was bringing it up to support why the UK should be anti-drag. I don’t think gay people need to go away for kids to be safe, predators do.
I probably should’ve made a longer comment yesterday so my point would’ve been clearer of just trying to mention what I thought you were wondering so it wouldn’t sound like i support. I even said in my second comment yesterday other places do have predators and it’s not every drag place, there’s literally a place everywhere with predators and the issue isn’t drag. If there’s a whole foods with a ton of predators as workers then the issue isn’t every whole foods and people with whole food diets, it’s the predators. I also said the pictures on the post of drag performers that was popular in the 90s looked fun, not because I’m homophobic and thought the show didn’t look drag but because it wasn’t predators doing anything inappropriate. I wasn’t saying the inappropriate issue here is drag.
Considering they position themselves as the guardians of Britishness, it has been so weird seeing conservatives here in the U.K. adopting the US’s anti-drag narrative, especially the idea drag is inappropriate for kids. Like, this is something every british child went to see as a school trip each Christmas:
And these are considered our best TV shows/TV stars, who I watched all the time as a child in the 90s:

Do Princess Madeleine and her family live in Miami? This is a question that has been keeping me up at night lately lol
According to Jess and Grace, Madeleine and her family have only lived in Miami from August 2018 - August 2023. Idk why they moved again but I know they live in Sweden now :)

When I read Cultish, I learnt that one of the key signs of a cult was creating words and phrases which enter the popular lexicon so I'm not saying we're cult leaders but I'm also not not saying it
First Carl Philip & Sofia, now Bea & Edo! Can Stephanie & Luxembourg William also announce a pregnancy so most of my favourite royals are pregnant at the same time (& therefore ensure I have a great start of 2025 filled with new babies)

Hello my dear! This can be public or private, don’t mind :) Would you happen to have a list of the “court jewellers”? Like we associate the Russians with Fabergé, Bolin is the Swedish go to etc. Thank you so much!
Hello, I don't have a list but I'll try to make one. There are certain jewelers that I associate with different royal families but not all of them have an official crown jeweler the way the British royal family does. Also lot of times the crown jeweler is the person taking care of the royal regalia but doesn't have anything to do with their personal jewels like tiaras and necklaces. In the UK, Queen Elizabeth II had a personal jeweler and a crown jeweler and sometimes that was the same person but not always.
Belgium - They don't have any regalia to take care of but Wolfers are royal warrant holders and have supplied a lot of their important jewelry like Queen Mathilde's engagement ring and Laurel Wreath Tiara.
Denmark - The Danish court jeweler is A. Dragsted which I did not know prior to this. I knew they had made some jewelry for the Danish royal family a long time ago but I didn't even realize that they still existed.
Japan - Mikimoto makes most of their jewelry but I don't think they hold any sort of official title.
Luxembourg - Schroeder Joailliers have held a royal warrant since 1914 so I guess that's the closest thing to a crown jeweler but Luxembourg doesn't have any regalia to look after and I don't know of any major jewelry that was made by them.
Netherlands - Steltman Jewelers is the Purveyor to the Royal Household and does most of the alterations and whatnot for the Dutch collection. I really appreciate how that are able to figure out ways to adapt pieces of jewelry while still being able to return them to their historic settings. Steltman and Queen Maxima are a match made in heaven.
Norway - I don't think Garrard are technically the crown jewelers because it doesn't make sense to send the regalia outside of the country but they are certainly the personal jewelers to the Norwegian royal family. Garrard has been handling their jewelry since Maud (a British princess) became queen in 1905. They are the only ones on this list were the jeweler I most associate with a family is not from their own country. Even after the big jewelry heist in 1995 (which I am working on a post about because there's some new info) they are still very loyal to them and have bought two tiaras from Garrard since.
Spain - Ansorena is the jeweler I most associate with the Spanish royal family but I can't find a list of royal warrant holders and their website doesn't mention anything so I don't know if they hold an official role. Can anyone from Spain find a list of Proveedores de la Real Casa? The Spanish royal family's website is impossible to navigate.
Sweden - Bolin has been the Swedish court jeweler since 1916. It's funny you mentioned them and Russia in your example because I actually associate Bolin more with Russia. They were Swedish family that immigrated to Russia and were the crown jewelers for over a century. Fabergé became their competition towards the end but Bolin was still making most of the major jewelry for the imperial family with Fabergé doing more objets de vertu kind of stuff like the eggs. After the revolution the Bolin family moved back to Sweden and became the Swedish court jeweler.
United Kingdom - The jeweler I most associate with the British royals is Garrard but they stopped being the crown jeweler in 2007. The current one is Mark Appleby from Mappin & Webb but they were clear in saying that is a personal title and that Mappin & Webb are not the crown jewelers. He was the person carrying the crown during the late queen's funeral and he also carries it in during the State Opening of Parliament because he's one of the few people allowed to touch the crown. Garrard still has a royal warrant from King Charles and I have wondered if we might see a return to them in the new reign.
I might make a post of royal warrant holders too because I went down a bit of a rabbit hole looking up crown jewelers.

“whether or not porn should have a plot.” Ok but what did you decide?
We decided it should but also most porn does have a plot already. They're just not necessarily intricate plots

So, @cambridgemadness just slid into my DMs to talk about a tweet that cited an article (about Marius) from the Norwegian tabloid Se og Hor. Maybe this is me being mentally drained, or I truly had a lightbulb moment - I'll let you guys be the judge of that. Now... I have been one of those who have repeated "omg it just keeps getting worse" over & over these past two months... but I've changed my opinion.
This isn't actually getting worse (just to be overly clear here, I'm not talking about one of the ex-girlfriends having to flee her home because someone tried to murder her - that's obviously an escalation of the situation regarding the domestic violence cases). This is the Norwegian version of the Swedish 2010 scandal.
I've briefly talked about this before & I know @duchessofostergotlands have made posts about this topic, but a brief recap for those who aren't familiar; in 2010 a book about Carl Gustaf was published, the title roughly translating to "The Unwilling Monarch". This book was a bombshell because up until this point, there was this magical shimmer around the royals - you couldn't just publish or say whatever you wanted about the royals, they were royalty! Of course, people gossiped & speculated etc. etc. but there were certain lines you just didn't cross because, again, they were royalty. What was so groundbreaking (is that the right word?) with this book was that it took the King, the Head of State, & treated him like any other person worthy of scrutiny.
This book didn't just talk about the partying Crown Prince & later partying King. This book went further & detailed connections to criminals. It talked about sex & strip clubs (which led to this iconic meme), "coffee girls" & made accusations that Carl Gustaf had a fling with Camilla Henemark & that Silvia was aware of it. This was further & more detailed than anyone had ever dared go before & of course, these accusations caused chaos. But people were also shocked because, how could you say these things about the King?! Anyway, the point with why I'm mentioning this is that after this book, the floodgates were opened & the coverage of the Swedish royals was never the same.
I hope you guys can see the parallels here with what we & the Norwegian royals are going through at the moment. This is their 2010, however, it's not the King who is in the hot seat, it's Marius. As we know, the Norwegian royals have been criticised before, there have been scandals & Marius has been under scrutiny before. What has changed is that the Norwegian media aren't holding back anymore.
From an outside perspective, it probably looks like things are just getting worse & worse. But if you look at what is actually said in Norwegian media, these aren't technically news. Most of this is public secrets that we're now getting the full picture of. People knew Marius had been charged with things before; Marius has a public Instagram account & his friends haven't been shy about posting things about him on social media. But instead of just "Marius had a run-in with the police at Skaugum for a traffic-related incident" + "someone tried to sell silverware to an auction house that obviously is taken from a royal residence" we now get the story that "Marius had a party at Skaugum with his friends from Hell's Angels where said criminals stole stuff from Haakon & Mette-Marit (which the idiots tried to sell but were obviously caught)! Oh, & by the way, Marius himself had a visit from the police last October after having crashed into a fence at Skaugum!"
To wrap this up, what do you guys think? Do you agree or do you have a different interpretation of the situation?
P.S. If you can't tell, I'm heavily taking back my previous statement made weeks ago that I feel bad for Marius. I do have issues with how certain things have been handled, but I don't feel bad for him as a person anymore.
