Brief Respite At The End Of The World

Little doodle that I imagine takes place some time either during Arc 29 or after Arc 30. Wanted to do a quick drawing of this ship that for some reason lives rent free in my brain (Does it even have, like, a ship name? If there isn’t I think either Gauntlet or Handcuff could work for if I ever need to tag it but idk)

Way Too Much Yapping about a relationship between two tertiary characters below:

Part of the reason I like this ship is because these two were surprise favorites in the latter half of Worm, and I thought the mentions of them getting together in Arc 26 and 29 were cute. Though thinking a lot on the two characters (and probably a good bit of headcanon tbh), I started to appreciate it a lot more.

For Theo’s end of things, he’s always been burdened by expectations. His father tried to mold him into the next leader of the E88 from a young age, but Theo pushed back against that, instead wanting to be a hero. And then he got that, and a lot more than he asked for, accidentally becoming essentially a hero of prophecy thanks to Jack’s promise. Suddenly he wasn’t just a hero, he had to be *the* hero, live up to impossible expectations and save the world. And he was treated based on those expectations. His friendship with Weaver was pretty much based on the fact Taylor had to train him, try to make him the guy who could defeat Jack Slash. And then he failed, just barely missing the mark, and those expectations came crashing down around him. He distances himself from his team, and is mostly sulking in the background for the opening acts of Gold Morning, though one person does make an effort to reach out to him.

Aside from maybe Purity (who has her own set of issues), Ava is one of the few people in Theo’s life who likes and cares about who he is, not who he could be. And at his lowest point, where he feels he failed everyone, she’s trying to do what she can to help him recover and see he’s not a failure. And she does succeed eventually, as we see him up to fight a couple chapters later in the arc.

(Also it’s really funny and sweet that the meek girl from Arc 24 was able to almost convince Taylor “You can’t tell me what to do” Hebert to drop everything and talk to Golem, made a doodle of it a while back)

On Ava’s side of things, there’s admittedly not nearly as much to glean from just her characterization in the text alone. Like I said, she’s one of the few who appreciates Theo for who he is, regardless of expectations put on him by others. Their stories aren’t so different, only that her nemesis of sorts (Behemoth) was killed just as she was starting out. And after that fight she’s terrified, choosing not to attend the Khonsu fight. But Theo keeps pushing himself, trains knowing he’ll have to fight things that are arguably worse than the Endbringers when it comes to pain and fates worse than death. I like to think his inspiration is what led to the much more confident Cuff we see after the timeskip (though the Taylor Hebert Bootcamp probably also helped there). The main other thing we know is she had a previous boyfriend who she broke up with due to the pressures Weaver put the Chicago Wards under (which is probably a whole separate post to get into). So maybe their relationship is something that lets them both have a sense of normalcy in the insanity that is late Worm.

Or, you know, maybe I’m reading way too much into my two blorbos whose relationship gets like 5 lines of canon mention and 1 fanfic that I know of (shoutout again to Chartic, Off the Cuff is like a third of the reason I like this ship so much) and this is the best way I could put together why short of writing a fanfic myself (I might ngl but I do not have time atm)

hi, i'm sorry if this is an inappropriate ask to send, but i'm just kinda curious and your blog seems to be a dream team/dnf lightning rod on tumblr.

so speaking as an outsider of this fandom, i find it really interesting that the dnf thing seems to have not really effected Dream and George's friendship significantly (at least negatively). like, idk if you're super aware of one direction, but the shipping ("larry stylinson") in that fandom seems to have been a big catalyst in the end of Harry and Louis's friendship. They pressure and they way their fans were watching their every move made everything uncomfortable and awkward. They aren't the only example, but probably the best. Admittedly, Dream and George were friends prior and Harry and Louis were literally tossed together in competition show.

I guess I'm curious if either Dream or George ever really spoke about it? like esp early on, they must have had conversations about what they were comfortable with, and clearly they are comfortable with a lot considering they way they play it up. idk its wild.

like i'm not saying the answer is 'dnf is real' but damn. i kinda really want to pick dream's brain about the last few years. hes got go have such an interesting perspective.

Hi anon!! Oh yeah I definitely think this is a fair assessment tbh! I don’t know a toooon about one direction but I have heard about shipping kind of ruining the relationships between people in instances like that.

With dream and George it’s a unique case because their FIRST STREAM EVER, they made it clear they want to be regarded as unit and they were the ones to decide their ship name and they made a Minecraft wedding. They WANTED to be paired together and made it pretty clear that it was something that was prevalent in their relationship even before YouTube. Which I think is what makes their situation unique compared to others where the shipping came after the fame (or as a result of it). And also, the fact that I believe there is blatant proof of genuine feelings between the two of them (to put it lightly lol). That has been absent from a lot of these “internet ships” like larry or septiplier, etc.

Now, I do think that the constant fan pressure does influence how dnf has been treated by Dream and George to an extent. In the way that I firmly believe a fully-public romantic relationship between the two of them would not be possible while they are still content creators. I think we all know how poorly relationships can go with the added pressure of the internets opinion and fans prying into their lives as a way to imply the relationship is somehow “bad”. So I do think they are somewhat secretive about things because of that. Especially after the internets reaction to Dream coming out. I think we can all recognize that it would be bad 😭

And you’re right I would also love to hear both of them really talk about things like that because it’s something rarely discussed in-depth by content creators in that situation and instead we only hear small things from way after.

Somehow Buggy ended up with three cabin kids when he never expected to have any and now they're invading his bed.

Rating: PG

Warning: Mentions of child abuse. Kids got some trauma. Sunny is in this fic because tbh Cupcake isn't suited to for that motherly stuff. Yet. Also Buggy has knives. Kids have night terrors. Buggy calls the kids brats but it's affectionately in his own way.

A/N: A request from a lovely Anon who wanted Buggy with three cabin kids like the triplets from The Aristocats. It's been a bit since I saw that movie, did what I could from a wikipedia article on the movie and characters, and went from there. The kids names are ones I've always liked, there's no real significance to them, just had fun with them. To be honest, Sunny probably renamed the kiddos with the names they have now. It's a Sunny thing to do.

Title comes from "Dog Days Are Over" by Florence and the Machine.

“C-Captain?” 

Buggy pulled the blankets from over his head, glaring sleepily at the teary seven year old. Cedar, one of the cabin kids, stood beside the bed, hands behind his back, no doubt hiding the plush seagull Sunny purchased for him when they rescued him months ago. Poor kid looked ready to cry.

“What?” Buggy hissed. “Why aren't you in your bed, kid?”

Cedar looked towards the door and to the darkened hallway, a menacing passage he just came from, bravely making his way through and dodging scary creatures that may pop out of the shadows and snatch him away. He woke up to a scary sound, likely the ship moaning and creaking in the water, but he wasn't sure. Cabaji told the kids a bedtime story about sea beasts knocking into ships to eat the crew, and while they hadn’t seen any sea beasts yet, how could be sure there wasn’t one trying to eat them now?

“T-There was a noise…” Cedar mumbled, looking back at the captain. “A-And I got scared.”

Buggy sighed heavily and sat up in bed; Sunny stirred beside him, still asleep. Why was the kid waking Buggy up and not his wife? She handled this sort of thing, not him.

“Yea, well, pirates don’t get scared, kid.” Buggy grumbled. “What do you want me to do about the noise?” 

“I-I don’t-”

“What’s going on?” Sunny mumbled from her side of the bed as she sat up. “Who are you talking to, honey?”

“One of the brats woke up ‘cause of a noise.” Buggy told her. “That’s your thing, isn’t it?”

She shot him a sleepy glare before crawling over him to see who was awake. When she saw Cedar, looking close to tears, she ‘accidentally’ elbowed her husband in the ribs as she climbed over him to pull the kid in her arms. 

“Cabin kid or not, he’s still a kid.” She hissed at her husband before walking over to her side of the bed. Buggy’s jaw dropped, she was letting him sleep in their bed? Why? He had his own room, own blankets, own bed, why sleep in here? 

Sometimes his wife treated the cabin kids more like her own kids than crewmembers. That was not something Buggy was ever going to get used to. Sure, he was a cabin boy, he turned out fine even if he recognized the favoritism towards the other boy he grew up with, that Buggy would always be second best to Shanks if anything, but he was never coddled in the way his wife coddled the kids.

“If he sleeps in here one night, he’ll expect it every time!” Buggy told her. “He can sleep in his room!”

“You can sleep in his room if you're against this, honey.” Sunny shot back as she got Cedar comfortable in the middle of the bed, making sure he was tucked in with his plush seagull. Buggy sighed heavily and rubbed his face before shaking his head. “It’s just for the night, Buggy.”

“Fine, one night.” He muttered. The same thing he said a week ago when Cedar woke them both up because he had a nightmare, hearing noises on the ship again, sounds like heavy footsteps. He said his father had loud footsteps, which got louder when he was angry and looking for Cedar. He told Sunny in between sobs that he thought they were going to let him be taken away by his father to be hurt again. Buggy surprised Sunny the next day by showing Cedar that no bad guys could just walk onto the ship when they were in the middle of the sea, and that the crew would definitely stop any intruders before they could even reach the kids’ room. 

Cedar was the newest cabin kid, having been rescued by Buggy while Sunny was shopping for supplies. The pirate captain witnessed a man beating the boy in the street, something about not being able to do his chores right, and when Sunny stepped out of a shop, bags ladened with supplies and gifts for two of their current kids, she saw Buggy holding the boy up by the back of the shirt. She walked right back into the shop to get things for Cedar.

Buggy looked over at the two. Cedar was clinging to Sunny, already dozing off while his wife made herself comfortable. He sighed and settled himself back down, hoping to get to sleep soon.

Except that didn’t happen, because no sooner did he close his eyes he heard a scream from the kids’ room. He was up first, a hand grabbing his knives from on top of a shelf kept out of the reach of kids as he darted out of the room. It sounded like Rowan screaming, which meant Oak was likely awake too since the kids all shared a room. He ran down the hall, skidded to a stop in front of their room and threw the door open, knives ready to attack the intruder.

There was no intruder. Rowan was in her bed, sobbing loudly while Oak was trying to comfort her. Buggy looked around, making sure there was no one hiding in the shadows before his hand took the knives back to the room and he approached the kids.

“What the hell is going on?!” He demanded as Oak hugged the little girl, trying to comfort her. “You kids trying to keep me awake all night?!”

“I-I had a bad dream!” Rowan wailed. “I want M-Miss Sunny!”

Buggy rubbed his face. First Cedar, now Rowan. He looked at Oak.

“Are you fine to sleep in here on your own or do you need to sleep in our bed as well?” He asked, not bothering to hide the frustration in his voice. Oak shook his head as he let go of Rowan and went back to his own bed.

“I won’t have nightmares. I can sleep in here all by myself.” He told Buggy proudly as he crawled under his blankets, holding his own plush penguin to his chest. “Finally some peace and quiet!”

Buggy rolled his eyes and held his arms open for Rowan. She didn’t hesitate in jumping out of her bed and into his arms, wrapping her arms around his neck while one hand clutched her plush duck. She wasn’t as sensitive of a kid as Cedar, but she also was a bit more affectionate, having no issues hugging Sunny or Buggy, wanting to be cuddled after a bad dream or if she didn’t feel well. She bonded with Sunny immediately when they rescued her from an abusive shop keeper, welts on her little arms, hands covered in burn marks, and her fingers all wrapped in bandages had Sunny taking the girl back to the ship while Buggy caused a distraction by stealing goods from the shop. Sunny introduced her to Oak who was relieved to have another kid on board, even if it was a girl (who promptly put him in a headlock and knocked him to the ground).

He took her back to the bedroom, grumbling about nightmares and how he didn’t sign up for this nonsense with these kids. Sunny was awake, talking to Cedar who had woken up from the scream. Buggy dropped Rowan onto the bed, the little girl giggling as the mattress bounced underneath her. Sunny pulled the blankets back and Rowan crawled underneath them next to Cedar, her small scarred hand reaching for Sunny’s. Buggy watched his wife take her hand, squeezing it gently as Cedar settled back down between them. 

“Everyone good now?” He asked grumpily as he got onto his side of the bed. “I really really want to get back to sleep.”

“Good night, Captain!” The kids said in unison. His hands went over to them, ruffling their hair before one stroked Sunny’s cheek lovingly. She grabbed his hand, kissing the back of it before letting it return to him.

“Good night, honey.” She chuckled softly as he looked over his shoulder to grin at her. He wasn’t a fan of not being able to cuddle his wife, but if having the brats sleep in his bed allowed him to get back to sleep, then fine, he could go a night without being in her arms.

The other three settled down, as did Buggy, but his eyes were only closed for ten minutes when he heard a noise at the doorway. He sat up, ready to grab his knives again, when he saw Oak standing there. Buggy rubbed his face. He didn’t have the energy or patience for this.

“What?!” He demanded, trying to keep his voice low to not disturb the others. “I thought you wanted the room to yourself!”

“I… just want to make sure everyone’s okay.” He whispered back, holding his stuffed penguin in his hands. Buggy stared at him for a moment, contemplating sending the boy back to his room, but he heard the other two let out happy little sighs, the rustling of blankets as they got comfortable, and Buggy climbed out of bed, pointing to the spot beside Rowan. 

“Get in.” Buggy sighed heavily, glad they only had three little headaches to deal with and no more. Oak didn’t waste any time crawling into bed and settling himself in. Sunny reached over the other two, stroking Oak’s hair as he looked over at her with a big smile. “Are we all done? Do we need anything, water, stories, a song? No? Good, because it’s way past your bedtime and I want to sleep.” He crawled back into bed and pointed to all three of them. “I am officially off duty as soon as I put my head down. Sunny is the one to wake up if you need anything, got it? Don’t bug me, you brats. I need to sleep.”

“Good night, Captain Buggy!” The three chirped in unison while Sunny chuckled. Buggy glared at his wife before turning himself over, his back to everyone as he laid his head back onto his pillow. He felt Oak pat him on the shoulder and Buggy sighed, turning his head around to look at him. The boy just patted him on the cheek before settling down for the night. Buggy managed not to roll his eyes before settling back down.

Oak was the first cabin kid, taken in by Sunny when she caught him trying to pickpocket her while she was out on another supply run. She was used to Buggy’s hands on her body that for a moment she thought that’s what was sliding into her pocket for her wallet, but when she grabbed Oak’s wrist and turned around, coming face-to-face with a scared six year old with a bruised and bloodied face, she decided right then that Buggy needed a cabin boy, no arguments to be had. And Buggy hadn’t been completely on board with the idea, but when the street gang leader who ‘employed’ Oak came to the ship looking for him, Buggy had no problem getting the crew to chase the guy off. 

Sure, the three were absolute headaches for Buggy even if they did their chores he assigned them with little fuss, and he would only admit to Sunny when he was drunk how much he adored the little brats, because he caught them a few weeks ago with his greasepaint , trying their best to mimic his look to show Buggy that they were very serious about being pirates on his crew. He… didn’t get mad, instead taking the time to help them with perfecting it. Sure, they made a mess of everything and Sunny had a heck of a time washing the greasepaint out of their clothes, but it was one of the few moments Buggy was proud to have the best cabin kids.  

Sunny made him swear to never have favorites with the kids, she wanted him to remember how he felt growing up with Shanks on the Oro Jackson, how he often felt left in the shadows of his friend, and why would he want any of their kids to feel that way? And Buggy tried not to, he gave them the same workload, fed them the same meals, and treated them all the same. He praised them when they did something great but also scolded them when they messed up. He was their Captain, not their father, even if he overheard the little headaches over breakfast one morning while he was helping Sunny plate everything that if they could choose a new dad it would definitely be Buggy cuz he was so nice to them and he was a nice captain too. 

He pretended to sneeze to cover up the sniffles he had when he heard that. Sunny just patted him on the arm and said nothing.

Reading the Iliad, Book 11 thoughts

This is my first time ever reading it and I know next to nothing abt greek mythology so if I interpret anything wrong by all means pls correct me

Okay so the books called "Agamemnon's Day of Glory" so I thought the war was going to tip in favor of the Greeks again. It actually got worse tbh

Loads of people die

It's the next morning after the last book and Zeus tells the goddess of strife to encourage the Agrives to go fight

So everyone gets ready for battle but Zeus is definitely on the Trojans side today (again)

The gods don't interfere with this battle all at I think

Agamemnon goes on a mini killing spree and kills a bunch of ppl

Zeus doesn't like that all too much so he sends Iris down to tell Hector "Hey, hang back for right now but when Agamemnon gets wounded and retreats from the battlefield it's free real estate."

Agamemnon ends up getting his arm slashed and he goes "That hurts bad"

Homer compares this pain to the pain of giving birth... No, the fuck it is not, Homer

Character: *Gets hurt.*

Homer: "Its like when a Lion-" He compares wounded people to animals a lot in this one.

Agamemnon goes back to the Greek camps

Hector sees this and he just knows this is his moment

And he fucking takes it

So Odysseus grabs Diomedes and starts to kill people

Hector starts booking it toward them, Dio throws his spear which hits Hector's helmet but it just kinda bounces off (Apollo gave it to him)

Dio complains that if HE had the help of a god, Hector would be dead

Just get in the chariot Diomedes

Lmao so Paris is off in the distance somewhere and he takes a shot at Diomedes while he's striping some guys armor

AND ACTUALLY ENDED UP HITTING DIO IN THE FOOT????????

Paris IMMEDIATELY starts going "Omg I'm the best, I just shot Diomedes♥️😩"

Diomedes tells him if they fought hand to hand rn that Paris would lose bc he sucks. Which, fair.

While Ody shields him Diomedes pulls the arrow out of his foot and has to go back to camp

So Odysseus is left alone lol

The Trojans end up jumping the shit out of him to the point that he has to call for help

Menelaus and Ajax(greater) hear this and rush over to help him

Odysseus ends up hurt as well so he too has to go back to the Greek camp

Ajax remains and kills a lot of the Trojans that were jumping Ody

Thennnnn Paris shoots Machaon (YK the healer of the Greek side)

Nestor and Idomeneus lose their shit and they're like "Get Machaon tf out of here NOW!"

Zeus stuns Ajax and so he falls back to protect their ships

Paris sees this and shoots him too😭 this time in the thigh

Jump to Achilles. He's watching shit go down from his boat and he's Nestor rushing back into camp with someone who looks like Machaon, and he says "lol finally they're going to beg for my help"

THEY BASICALLY DID THAT TWO FUCKNG BOOKS AGO

He calls for Patroclus and sends him to see if the person with Nestor is Machaon. (It is)

Nestor tries to sit Pat down for some win but he refuses

Nestor talks abt how now is really not the time for Achilles to be acting like a child

Then proceeds to go on one of those "Back in my day " rants and talks for like 3 full pages abt something idk anymore

And here's where TOSA kinda fucked me up because I really thought that Pat came up with the idea to lead the Myrmidons into battle himself but it was actually Nestor who suggested the idea

On the way back to Achilles, Patroclus runs into Eurpylus (who is not in good shape)

Patroclus says "hmm idk I'm supposed to get back to Achilles." BRO?

But he ends up healing him anyway. The end

3. Who is your favorite character outside the main 7?

This is kind of harddd man 😭 born to say Cherry forced to say Curly. Cherry's a character that we actually saw more of, but I have this idea of Curly in my head that's so perfect to me...he's like half my oc...I'm superrr attached to Cherry but I do have to be real w myself cuz whenever I see Curly's name mentioned in any fic or any post it's like a wild lion sighting i get sooo hype

this is NOT hard. My favorite ship is purly I'm an evil purly shipper. I don't typically do shipping because I'm that aroace who is romance repulsed not just for myself but in the media I consume too, but idk something about their dynamic I've half made up in my head abt them...I guess I just really like the dynamic of 2 bros who are friends who might also fall in love We dont know

MARBIT. I really like couples who just giggle together. Couples who justtt rock w eachotherrr something about them....Also they got that forbidden love thing going on and idk the power of laughter could save them. But other than that I'm a platonic power ranger

Do you think he was ever in love with Bedelia like he was in love with Will? I ask this because Bedelia says they were both the "brides of Hannibal". But Hannibal never courted her like he did with Will, Bedelia came into Hannibal's life much before Will but he never pursued her like he did with Will. Mads said he wanted a future with Will unlike with other people he hooked up with Alana, Bedelia or Anthony. He took her to Italy as a consolation prize when Will betrayed him. Even in Italy H was pining about Will all the time and telling Bedelia how much he loves Will. I know he slept with Bedelia but he probably slept with Anthony too and he slept with Alana, Hannibal is a hedonistic guy who sleeps around. For him sleeping with someone doesn't mean he is in love with them. But when Will confronts Bedelia, she pretends as if Hannibal held them in the same regard which is obviously not true. Hannibal would choose Will over her in a heart beat and even she knows it but yet she acts as if Hannibal sees them both equally. I don't understand why? 😭 Why do you think?why make herself seem like a competition when she is not?

So, a few things.

To answer the first question - basically, no. I think the show is fairly clear on the fact that Bedelia wasn’t an adequate substitute for Will. (Though I will say that the question of whether or not X character was “really” “in love” with Y character, or - as I sometimes see people writing on, when they fell in love - is not particularly compelling or generative to me as a meta topic. Personally, I’d rather focus on the specifics of relationships, the patterns of interaction characters have with one another, what they represent to one another, etc, than trying to definitively categorize their feelings.) Also, if this is in response to this post, then I don’t really consider the question of whether or not characters were “really” in love, or preferred other people, particularly relevant when shipping something. Shipping to me is applying an erotic lens to a dynamic I find compelling, not about whether the character were “in love” with each other or would make a dedicated or long-lasting couple.

I don’t consider myself to be beholden to the opinion of Mads, or anyone else in the cast and crew, in my analysis. Their sentiments can be interesting, and can inform readings (and tbh I’ll pay more attention to Fuller than the rest of them, given that I respect his vision as a creator), but they are not canon, and I think treating them as such is stifling to fandom analysis. Furthermore, in this case, I don’t need to consider Mads’ opinion, because… I have the show itself, which devotes considerable attention to Hannibal’s feelings towards Will and puts forth a lot of effort in positioning Will as somehow exceptional to him.

It’s not really clear that Hannibal did sleep with Bedelia. The exact nature of their relationship is pretty deliberately left ambiguous. (My personal interpretation is that they didn’t sleep together, though they were both aware that it was a possibility.)

Hannibal had practical reasons to sleep with Alana outside of his own enjoyment - namely, grooming her as a character witness, and keeping her close such that the threat of him hurting her would keep Will in line (hence his “I’ll give Alana Bloom your best” line after Will’s attempt on his life). I do agree that he doesn’t seem to see sex as sacrosanct, and has no qualms about using it as a manipulation tool, but that’s about as much as the show gives us as to his feelings about it. (It is plausible, given everything else about him, that he’d enjoy it for hedonistic reasons, and that is pretty in line with my own headcanon, but the show itself doesn’t specify exactly, because “how the characters feel about sex” is a question it’s relatively uninterested in devoting a lot of attention to.)

With that out of the way, I’ll get into Bedelia, namely this:

But when Will confronts Bedelia, she pretends as if Hannibal held them in the same regard which is obviously not true. Hannibal would choose Will over her in a heart beat and even she knows it but yet she acts as if Hannibal sees them both equally.

She doesn’t actually, though. In fact, in her interactions with Will in 3B, she's often emphasizing the romantic and obsessive nature of Hannibal's feelings towards Will specifically.

Consider:

Will: You hitched your star to a man commonly known as a monster. You’re the Bride of Frankenstein. Bedelia: We’ve both been his bride.

Will is the one who raises the “bride” comparison, and Bedelia’s answer is to impress on Will the fact that he also should be taken to hold this position. And then later in the episode, we get her saying “my relationship with Hannibal is not as passionate as yours.”

And then in 3.12, we get this exchange:

Will: Bluebeard’s wife. Secrets you’re not to know, yet sworn to keep. Bedelia: If I am to be Bluebeard’s wife, I would have preferred to be the last.

So when Will again raises a romantic analogy for Bedelia and Hannibal’s relationship, Bedelia responds with a conditional, rather than confirming it, and then implicitly gestures towards the romantic nature of Will and Hannibal’s relationship (and the fact that Hannibal seems to value Will more).

So Bedelia fairly consistently maintains that Hannibal holds Will in special regard. And while she seems to have been jarred out of her usual patterns of behaviour with Hannibal in a comparable way to Will (hence the “why is one patient worthy of compassion and not another”/“why is one murderer worthy of compassion and not another” exchange), she doesn’t appear to be carrying a torch for him - when Will asks her if she’s been to see Hannibal, she responds, “I’ve seen enough of him.”

So, as to her motivations - I’d say she’s invested in impressing on Will the force of Hannibal’s influence on them, hence why she pushes the angle of the romantic intensity of their bond. For example, this quote:

Your experience of Hannibal’s attention is so profoundly harmful, yet so irresistible, it undermines your ability to think rationally.

And then her pushing to get Will to accept his culpability in what happened to Chilton, and chalking it up to Hannibal’s influence:

Bedelia: Is this what you expected? Will: I can’t say I’m surprised. Bedelia: Then you may as well have struck the match yourself. That’s participation. Hannibal Lecter does have agency in the world. He has you.

And then, in the wounded bird exchange, there’s her claim that Will isn’t truly a killer, and that his compassion is what drives his violence:

You’re not a killer. You’re capable of righteous violence because you are compassionate. …The next time your instinct is to help someone, you should really consider crushing them instead. It might save you a lot of trouble.

Well, taken in tandem with her emphasis on the intensity of the bond between Will and Hannibal, and on Hannibal’s influence on Will, the conclusion I’d draw is that she wants Will to recognize and recoil from Hannibal’s pull on him and what it brings out in him, and she wants him to direct his compassion towards Hannibal in the form of killing him. (I think her trying to get Will to “crush” the next person he feels the urge to help is also referring to Dolarhyde, ftr, or at least has narrative resonances in that direction, though that ofc backfires onto her).

So, I don’t think Bedelia feels threatened by the bond between Will and Hannibal out of romantic jealousy. It’s more a sense of self-preservation. I have a longer post in me about this, but suffice it to say, that’s why she tries to get Hannibal to eat Will in 3A - because it’s Will or her - and the interpretation that she’s trying to get Will to kill Hannibal in 3B works well as a parallel to that and makes sense as to her motivations. Because she knows that if Will and Hannibal join ranks, she’s toast - and going by the stinger in WOTL, she was right about that.

GRGRGRGRG FINALLY AN OPPORTUNITY TO INFODUMP ABT HIM!!! tysm @makifishcake and prepare for a long ramble abt best boy ever (to me) and why saijun is real... let's start with an introduction to a canon crossover character only The Loser (me) cares about! this is gonna get messy in writing near the end cuz its like 3 am for me rn.

Kouno Jun is one of the two protagonists of Asou-sensei's older work, Our Hero Studies and is one of Haganeno Ken's students at Holy Lance Academy (a private school that either exists the same town as Saiki or some neighboring one)

The only translated OHS chapters so far show us who Jun and Haganeno are as characters. Kouno Jun's a generic tsukkomi high school student with normal teenage boy interests and crushes... he's baby and a total boyfail.

Jun likes video games (Kaisou Monogatari, an in-universe franchise), ramen, melon soda and Yayumi - the class rep. Pretty normal dude that's just being constantly bothered by his classmates and the teacher he hates...

...and then there's Haganeno Ken - THE delusional cosplayer hero wannabe teacher with huge interest in roleplaying and RPG video games, who immediately takes a liking to Jun, mainly for his name (his name means shield, while Haganeno's mean sword. you see where i'm going?)

Asou-sensei put him there twice. In the Christmas chapter where he's walking with a girl (MOST LIKELY YAYUMI), sees Kusuo sitting alone and being like "haha that's so sad to be lonely on christmas lmao"... EXCEPT ITS HILARIOUS CUZ HE DOES THE SAME THING IN HIS OWN MANGA'S CHRISTMAS CHAPTER.

and in the Hero Studies crossover chapter, right at the end as an unused character. (wouldn't make sense to have two tsukkomis there tbh so i get it lolol)

Same thing happens in the anime except Jun in the Christmas episode wasn't animated like he's an actual pre-existing character, except just a background character so he looks different but has the same jacket with his initials so its definitely him.

I like to imagine Jun and Kusuo having a calm and nice relationship, lots of quality time spent playing video games or going out to get some ramen together. Kusuo gets to have someone more usual by his side and Jun isn't likely to be bothered by Ken when Kusuo is around (:3).

and yeah, they do get another scene together in volume zero! how lovely! the christmas episode is also one of the reasons i find the ship cool but even despite the sillies having canon scenes and illustrations together i like it simply for fun.

I went to see From The Rehearsal Room at the Savoy and I compiled notes. Keep in mind I wrote this on the tube on the way back from it so it might be a bit crazy but yk…

I hope this isn't too inappropriate a question, but I was wondering if you have any advice when it comes to binders? Like, I know a lot of the minutia, but are there any companies you recommend that make good ones? I'm new to the whole actually-doing-it part and I've found conflicting stuff so I though it was better to ask someone who went through that whole thing already. Tbh I don't know anything about your transition and you might not have even did much of that but you're like the main transguy I know

No worries at all!! I'm really comfortable talking about trans stuff and what I've had to do to get where I am, so if you have any other questions please don't hesitate to toss 'em my way and I'll do my best to help out. The only major trans stuff I haven't done yet are any surgeries and changing my name/legal gender marker (pain in the ass to do in Ohio....).

I got kinda lucky and don't really have much boob tissue going on so I don't bind very often, but I do have two GC2B binders: a full tank and a half one. The full one is a lot more comfortable, imo, because I can tuck it into my pants and it kinda like smooths my entire situation out instead of squishing just my upper body and chafing under my ribcage lol. Unfortunately, GC2B's binder quality has dropped BAD in the last 5 years or so. If you can get one for free or dirt cheap then it might be worth it, but otherwise I'd avoid them.

One of my other trans masc buddies has some binders from Underworks that he really likes. He used to have one of the GC2B ones and it got a huge hole right in the middle of it after less than a year... As far as I know, his Underworks ones are still holding up and it's been over two years now. He did say that they were pretty stiff when they first came in and that washing them with just a tiny bit of fabric softener helped. Make sure you read the sizing charts!!! The very first binder I ever bought was WAAAAYYYYY too small because I didn't read the chart very well... I've found that following the chart and then going up one or two sizes fits the best, depending on how big your chest is/how much compression you'll need.

Henry and William's childhoods!! (plus how they met each other)

Henry:

grew up in a Very rural town in Utah (not Hurricane). like we're talking most people are farmers and there probably isn't more than 100-200 people living here. considering the time period (late 30's-early 40's), makes sense.

this poor guy's bio dad sucked. like he was horrible.

has an older sister named Jen :] (< canonical to the books, i'm sure)

he had only a few stuffed animals growing up: Teddy (bear, obviously), Theodore (rabbit), Dawn (chicken; technically a rooster but Henry didn't give a fuck), and Cooper (fox; fell apart often because it was the oldest of all the toys).

those lil guys would become his inspiration to make the OG Freddy's Gang.

he shipped Teddy and Theodore together, despite growing up heavily religious. he'd just check around to make sure no one was watching them and then he'd go "hehe now Kiss :3"

well. time for a bit of Projection. so like. Henry's Transmasc. now uh while doing some research because i remembered that there are some things that can cause facial hair (or "abnormal hair growth," as some sites call it where women grow hair on places where they either aren't supposed grow much/noticeable hair or any hair at all) in women. did some research, might have PCOS but with more...milder symptoms? idk because some of the symptoms/signs aren't things that i deal with personally. but the hair and the acne stuff matches up and we'll leave it there for now. but anyway, so there's that: Henry starting growing some facial hair (coincidentally a few months before realizing that. he May not be a girl, actually), and because he thought it was cool and because well he's already kind of a social outcast anyway so why not am i right? he decided to keep it.

dad got thrown in jail for fighting and almost killing someone in a bar fight, and his mom remarried. stepdad was much better :]

got his interest in mechanics and robotics from old sci-fi movies and having to fix stuff like his bike and some of the electricity and wiring in the house (mostly 'cause it Sucked).

time for college came around, and well...his stepdad knew some people who were willing to help with his transition as much as they could in like the 50's-60's. got his boy some top surgery, what technically would count as a "fake ID" (Henry and his stepdad would call it an "updated ID," though. which in a way they aren't wrong about), and then sent him off to college!

he 100% gives off the vibes of going down the "weird "girl" who later discovered they weren't a girl at all" to "goofy but Very autistic father" pipeline. i accept no criticism on this, he just Does.

his parents were distant and neglectful At Best, and physically + verbally abusive At Worst.

unfortunately for him, something that certainly didn't help matters was that He Was Autistic As Hell. sensory issues, couldn't understand social cues to save his life (still can't, tbh), and just in general was...odd.

some would've called him "eccentric," maybe. had an odd interest in rabbits, in drawing. he was always rather quiet, staring in an almost unnerving way at the walls or just on someone by accident. but mention anything he enjoyed, and he'd talk your ear off.

despite all of this, he was well-loved by teachers. charming lil guy, y'know? not exactly popular with most of the other kids, though...but effectively a Teacher's Pet, pretty much. not that he minded much, either; "If they can tell me something I haven't already heard from my parents, maybe I'll start listening." (< something that concerned the Fuck out of his art teacher once, fun fact!)

used to cry a lot as a kid; got him bullied often :(

parents were rich, and he had a lot of siblings (three sisters and two brothers; loved each other but acted rather distant :().

after a lot of begging from Will, on his 6th birthday, his parents got him a pet rabbit (mostly because they wanted him to shut the fuck up about it) that he named "O'Hare" (familiar sounding name, ain't it?).

and God, did that kid love that rabbit. took the best care of him he could. played with him with whatever spare time he had. he adored O'Hare.

of course...William never had the best luck as a child. when he was eight years old, a couple of friends of one of his older brothers had come over to hang out. they had found William drawing while talking to O'Hare, decided to mess around a bit, and...well, they were a bit too rough with the rabbit, we'll put it that way.

despite his brother getting rightfully pissed at those two for y'know. Killing His Brother's Pet Rabbit, even if it was technically an accident, and trying to comfort his brother, William is inconsolable.

of course, not that his parents understand that this isn't something William's just going to get over in a few days; they're just pissed off and annoyed that their son won't stop crying (to give an example, something his father said, "It's just a stupid rabbit, William! Now stop your whining and bitching!").

of course, William never really got over it that quickly. he practically closed himself off, escaping into doing art to ignore his grief and give himself something to distract himself. and he starts drawing his dead bunny as a new character: this time, as an actual hare. and anthropomorphic. look, William had been watching old Disney cartoons and Looney Tunes, also as a way of comforting himself. and maybe he got inspired a bit...maybe a way to immortalize his old rabbit. heck, who knows, maybe he could become an animator and rival Walt himself!

or, maybe, as he starts drawing and thinking more and more...a way to become his old rabbit? (< aka William is a furry. and a therian. maybe even ockin? well uh....if it works as a coping mechanism, then it works, i guess?)

at least...until his family discovered his sketchbook. and decided that the Best Course Of Action is to send their clearly grieving son to a BOARDING SCHOOL. when he was NINE.

and we ain't talking about a "teachers are kinda strict and you're expected to keep your grades up" boarding school. we're talking a "you will get your ass beat for something as small as accidentally dropping your PENCIL" boarding school.

because their other option is probably taking him to a psychiatrist and having to deal with the public humiliation that having an openly mentally ill family member at that time would cause (which gee guys, I WONDER WHOSE FAULT THAT IS?? I WONDER WHY YOUR SON HAS ISSUES??).

so they send him off, and uh. that goes as well as you'd expect: the letters are practically constant, talking about William's ever-worsening behavior problems. at first, he just clammed up and kept to himself, and anytime it came to corporal punishment, they mention that he hardly ever flinches. then...it got worse. he'd have breakdowns, usually at bedtime, and it would wake other students up. he'd get violent with bullies, not even caring for the consequences. he was always closed off, only ever happy during an art class. even stranger, despite the behavior problems...his grades never suffered. they don't understand it.

eventually, when he's fifteen, they send him home. they decided "yep. we're not dealing with him on the Teenager Hormones. he's Y'all's problem again." (< ignore that this is taking place in England)

they both only really found out that they'd been assigned as roommates when Henry finally arrived at the room. it was. an awkward first couple of hours.

they found out that they had pretty similar schedules, and a lot of the same classes, and. Well, Ain't That Convenient!

William goes back to being his old eccentric self, a rather dramatic man. he and Henry both took a drama class, but for different reasons (William because he could just be himself and Henry so that he could come out of his shell a bit).

they both found out about each other's fursonas and expected the other to go "ew cringe" but. they both found it pretty cool! (it definitely made Will happy, considering he'd been called a weirdo for that his entire life)

then pretty shortly after that they looked at the fact that they both had some. creative ideas with those fursonas and other characters, and while William originally went with the "let's make an animated cartoon show! :D" (which, keep in mind, was his original childhood plan), Henry thought about the fact that they were both in some mechanics/robotics classes and went "actually, I have a better idea-" and that's how the idea for Freddy's/Fredbear's was originally born :]

Henry came out as trans to William and his (at the time) girlfriend, Claire, because he had decided to keep his flannel unbuttoned and Claire saw his top surgery scars. after a couple of minutes of nearly choking on water (because Henry literally decided to start his explanation with "Oh, these are from where I got my breasts cut off-" and it caught Will so off guard), William basically went "HOLY SHIT, THAT'S SO COOL????"

also, final fun fact: these two Have explored each other's bodies before. in college. it's how Henry discovered he was pan and how Will discovered he was bi. just a fun fact for you :]

what peem did in the car trying to convince phum to part their ways is what the youth calls ✨a yap sesh✨ (he tried ig) (this is what this post is as well)

we're probably never seeing phum use those things he bought ever, he'll just keep hanging around in his engineer shirt

peem has so many ppl ready to square up for him including his auntie and he is recognised by tan as someone who loves his friends very much (which makes the fact tan has sold him away for time with his crush TWICE even worse lmao)

i don't really get phum's insistence on not telling anyone about being phum's "slave", not even tan who got him into the mess or his best friend but it's just his ego ig (aside from plot reasons)

i find pun more relatable now - tags along for the funsies and gets happy around fire

not convinced the beans and pork scene wasn't an ad but im not sure how cause i didn't clock any labels

the scene where peem brings in food and laughs with q feels like improv or breaking left in lol

fai missing cause of upset stomach might be some sort of foreshadowing and i'm a bit worried bout her

the professor is handsome <3 and could pas off as chimon's sibling in a show

q absorbing those noodles was very satisfying idek why lol

peem and q's friendship is in the background but the show still constantly makes it a point that they are really good and loyal best friends

i thought "oh theyre gonna make the sharing food a thing in the future" so when boys showed up i was like "ah, we're doing it immediately? bit boring" but then he didn't share!! joey never shares food!! i think he will in the future though, him being a foodie is a constant thing so i'm guessing we're using it as a sign of compromise in the name of love or smth

satang playing this type of character felt a bit much in the first episode but i think he's getting more comfortable with the role as the show progresses and it look more natural; i'm glad his character isn't the googly eyed mentee and he actually teases a lot and snaps back but knows when to stop playing because q isn't the most patient person. (matt having to jump in like "bro he's serious" was so funny cause i hadn't clocked that either hahah)

the way we can see q flustered at certain points but seemingly unbothered at others is fun because his reactions aren't entirely predictable at this stage as we're still getting to know him. also it's mad cute when he clearly doesn't know what to do with himself

idk how he hasn't asked toey bout why he's in art yet, ig they're just now starting to properly get to know each other

toey took one look at q's back and decided "that's a cool ass aura to base my entire future around!" and tbh that's very young adult of him

q regularly asking about peem's work being submitted, he's honestyly worried <3

it took me a bit to realise the nongs were there instead of the full arts gang and i was glad to see toey and q together (also the green sweater is beautiful on toey, hope it makes a comeback)

i was ready to believe fang had some sort of falling out with tan with the way he treated him but tan beaming and enjoying a dreadful setting (no talking, awkward sitting around in a bar with mid music and alcohol) shows that man is glowing just from being in fang's presence (i hope he reaches ridiculous levels of lame for him)

i was screeching when i realised where things were going with wasted peem and seeing him n the bench outside had me exctaticcc (ofc he didnt book a taxi. and ofc they cant just order one for him noww could they)

phum cockblocks but he kinda has to cause there's no reason for fang to be there otherwise; once the ridiculous proposition of him taking peem home comes up he doesn't really fight it at all - he wants to be with peem, sure, but i think he's also pretty okay with tan and fang being a thing

the way i was screaming "just buy the flowers rich boy!!! he wants to go home" and then the kid went to get more lol

ofc he couldnt just leave the flowers in the backseat, peem just has to have them in his lap.. and the seatbelt scene was so predictable but it's too much of a classic with all "figuring things out" parts of a romance that i can't complain

it makes absolutely zero sense aside from people liking people (cause fang knows what he's doing too) that phum would drive peem to his house - a place where tan has sleepovers at all the time and phum hasn't been to before. fang is his brother and they can sleep at the same place as well even if they don't live together but nope. also THAT CAR HAS EMPTY BACKSEATS, if phum wanted to he would've forced them to ride with him to keep an eye on tan

fang is probably planning to launch a big revenge attack on peem and that'd be so funny, those four can get way too entangled, i could get DRAMA out of their plans and schemes (this show is more hidden agenda than hidden agenda was)

tan's energy with fang reminds me of the duracell bunny lmao it's late at night and they've had a few drinks but his mind and body are all focusedon wooing fang (who is playing nonchalant but has probably had a crush on tan as well)

toey and q aleady work so well together, toey knows his effect on q more or less and q doesn't shy away from being at least a bit vulnerable as of rn; i think they can be one of the best if not the best couple if they have a proper storyline; im certainly enjoying it the more than i thought i would

Darby really thought having you on board the ship was the best thing ever. You let him help you cook meals, read him books (he had ten books to choose from and you reread them to him as many times as he asked), and you loved playing with him. Sometimes you got tired and had to sit down, but even though you couldn't chase him around like his daddy did, you could still do other things.

His least favorite thing was getting a bath, even though it was only once a week. He hated being in the water, hated having his hair washed, face clean, everything that came with a bath and he made a fuss about it, whining at you, pouting, and crying for it not to happen. Buggy was there to support in case you needed it, but honestly he made it worse once he saw Darby’s big, sad eyes while he sat in the little wash tub. He'd insist that maybe Darby didn't need one, but you didn't back down.

“You're next, Buggy.” You warned him as you were letting Darby have an extra few minutes of playtime in the tub. Once the washing was over, he usually settled down and wanted to have time in there to splash around and play, which you allowed, giving him a toy whale to play with. “You're pretty stinky yourself.”

“What! No, I don't need one.” Buggy insisted, shaking his head. “I get by fine with a rag.”

You rolled your eyes and shook your head. It had been a month now since you arrived. Routines were put into place, even some boundaries, but every night while the two of you were in bed, he'd ask a question to get to know you better, still insistent that he was in love with you. And you gave him one-word answers, especially when he'd ask about family.

After a few minutes, you grabbed a towel and lifted Darby out of the wash tub and wrapped him up in it. Buggy was ready with his pajamas, though he was fine to let you handle everything because you were just so sweet and gentle with Darby. You had told him a few nights ago when you were putting Darby to bed how you always wanted kids, wanted to be a mom, but there was never an opportunity until you met Buggy, but it wasn't like you were expecting to get pregnant. It was something that just happened. It was probably the most you opened up to him so far.

“How come you're so good with kids?” Buggy asked as you helped Darby with his clothes. You paused for a moment, thinking about your answer, before you made sure Darby's hair was dry. You picked the boy up and went to sit down at the table, keeping him in your lap as you looked over at Buggy. “It just… comes so naturally to you.”

“Do you want that to be your bedtime question?” You asked as you grabbed a comb and ran it through the kid’s hair carefully, being mindful of tangles. 

“Will I get a real answer?” He retorted as he put his hands on his hips. “You have given me a lot of one word answers since we started our little romance, y’know, and I think I'd like another full sentence now.”

You shrugged, setting the comb down before wrapping your arms around Darby and hugging him. He squirmed around in your arms, trying to hug you back, but settled for letting his head rest over your heart while his thumb went to his mouth. He sighed and closed his eyes as he relaxed against you.

“I helped Mama with the babies and little ones at the orphanage.” You told him as you rubbed Darby's back slowly. Buggy frowned.

“Your mom ran an orphanage?”

You hesitated. Did you really want to get into this right now? You were tired, Darby was starting to settle down for the night, and you wanted to wash up before bed. But now seven months pregnant, it was a little harder to wash up, especially since you did it standing up with the wash tub. 

“I'm going to put Darby to bed and… if you refill the tub with clean water, I'll answer that question next.” You told him as you stood up. Buggy didn't look convinced. “I promise, Buggy. I'll answer that question if you… help me out with my bath. It's getting a little harder to do some things.”

Buggy frowned at that, wondering if you really would or if this was all a ploy to get his help. You brushed past him but he stopped you with a hand on your arm. 

“Look, if you got things you can't talk about-”

“No, I just don't want to talk about it, but maybe I should.” You shrugged. “I'm going to put him to bed. Will you please change the water for me?”

You walked out after that, heading to Darby’s room to put him down for the night. He woke up for a moment, frowning at you as he rubbed his eyes sleepily. You handed him his stuffed penguin, tucked him in, and kissed him on the forehead. Once you were certain he was asleep, you went to grab some dry towels from your room before you went back to the kitchen, pausing when you saw Buggy filling the wash tub with boiling water. You raised an eyebrow, watching as he stuck his hand into the water only to jerk it back in surprise at the temperature.

“Are you going to cook me, Buggy?” You asked. “Because I don’t know if I’m edible.”

“I’unno, I find you pretty tasty.” He grinned and winked at you, giving you a look over. “Y’know, this is the first time I’ve got to help you bathe. Do we need to lay down rules about what I can’t do?”

“Is this your attempt at flirting?” You chuckled as you sat down at the table, lifting one of your legs up. “Can you take my shoes and socks off for me? It’s… it’s getting hard for me to do it.”

“Well, you’re the size of a whale, I’m surprised you’re moving as much as you are. ” He shrugged as you made a face at his compliment. He took notice and frowned. “What? You are!”

“I guess I’ll take the compliment, but Buggy, people usually don’t want to be compared to something like a whale, so… try a different animal.”

“What? Whales are beautiful, so it’s a compliment!” Buggy shot back, his face flushing as he walked over and knelt in front of you, pushing your skirt up to your knees before he started to unlace your shoes. You reached down to tug on his hair to get his attention, and when he looked up you stuck your tongue out at him. He tossed your shoes aside before he started working on your socks. “You wanna use that tongue of yours for something, babe?”

“Oh hush.” You crossed your arms and leaned back in the chair, looking over at the washtub. You strummed your fingers against your arm as you considered your next question. “So, um, did you still want an answer to your earlier question?”

Buggy placed your socks with your shoes and looked up at you with an unreadable expression. He stood up and sent his hand to the tub to check on the water temperature, it felt fine so he held his dry hand out to you. You wondered why he was so quiet suddenly, wondering what he was thinking as he led you over to it and started to help you undress. He was kind enough to drape your clothes over the chair to keep them from getting dirty on the floor, even helping you step into the tub. 

“Yea, I want an answer.” He said as he grabbed a clean washcloth from the pile of towels and dipped it into the water. “Your mom ran an orphanage?”

“It’s what she wanted us to call her.” You shivered when he brought the cloth to your back, running it across your shoulders. You collected your hair, pulling it away to give him better access, now wishing you put it up first. “I don’t… really remember much, but she says I was three when my parents left me there at the orphanage.”

You felt him pause, the water dripping from the cloth and onto your skin, rolling down your back. You glanced over your shoulder at him. “You good?”

He only nodded, his mind spinning as he took in what you just told him. He turned his attention to your back once more, putting a hand on your hip to keep you steady as his other hand wiped the cloth over your back. “Why were you left there?”

“I used to wonder, y’know, because I have faint memories of my parents.” You replied, shivering again at his touch. He dipped the cloth back into the water and wrung it out before moving it under your arms. “Um, said they didn’t want me. Said that they always wanted a little boy, but then they had me first and… kept me around until they had my little brother a few years later.”

Buggy inhaled sharply and you looked over at him again. It was surprising to see him mad, but given what you just told him, you figured it stirred up memories about Darby’s situation. You reached back and touched his cheek, his gaze softening a bit as he sighed.

“You don’t have to keep telling me.” He mumbled. “You’ve said a lot.”

“It wasn’t the worst place, Mama did what she could. She wasn’t cruel to us. Tried her best to take care of us.” You continued as you turned around to face him. “Sometimes we went hungry, and sometimes we were cold, but she tried. I learned to bake and cook from her, and when I got older I helped take care of the little ones that were left with her.”

“Stop talking.” Buggy snapped. “You don’t have to keep telling me. Shit, it’s already depressing you don’t have parents, I don’t need to hear about the orphanage!”

“You want to get to know me, Buggy, so I'm telling you, okay?!” You shot back. 

“I don't want to hear about it!” He said, throwing the washcloth into the tub as he pulled away from you. “I can't listen to this.”

You glared at him as you started to reach to pick up the washcloth, but being off balance already from the baby and where the washcloth ended up made it difficult to grab it. You felt yourself start to fall forward out of the tub but Buggy was there to stop you, catching you and pulling you upright to steady you. You grabbed onto his arms for balance until you were upright. There was a moment of silence, the water in the tub no longer sloshing from the sudden movements  when you sighed and looked up at him.

“Buggy, you can't pick and choose what you want to know about me if you're certain you're falling in love with me.” You said firmly as you kept a hold on him, feeling a little unsure about letting go just yet. He looked away from you, keeping his arms around you while his hands grabbed a towel to wrap around you.

“Just don't want to hear about orphanages, okay?” He mumbled. “I could have lost my kid to one and… makes me wonder somethin’ about this little brat that's on the way.”

“What are you wondering?” You asked as you wrapped the towel around yourself before stepping out of the tub. He was still holding onto you, not trusting your balance now even though you were fine. 

“If that kid has my nose, would you have dumped them off somewhere?” He asked. “Darby’s mom was going to do that. Not only did she not want a kid, she didn't want a kid with a nose like mine, y’know, didn’t want a kid that looked like me and… what if this one has the same nose, would you have done that?”

It was hurtful he would think that, but he was guarded because of those features. You learned quickly he didn't want you touching his nose, whether on accident or even to kiss it. Darby wasn't sensitive like his dad about his nose, but you had already seen how protective he was over his son. He probably wasn't aware his nose made him look different from other kids.

“No.” You sighed. “I wouldn't have done that, Buggy.” 

You pulled away from him to grab your clothes. It was a little frustrating your bath was cut short but neither of you were in a great headspace right then. You pulled your skirt and top back on before looking back at him.

“Maybe I should sleep in my room tonight, Buggy.”

“Why?” He demanded. “You know that mattress is shit for your back.”

“I think you need to collect yourself and I need a breather.” You told him as you collected the damp towels to hang up. Buggy shook his head and crossed his arms as he frowned at you.

“I don't want to.” He said stubbornly. “Besides, Darby will be upset if you're not in there.” He looked away, itching his cheek before glancing back at you. “I’m not used to sleeping alone now.”

“Boundaries, remember?” You told him. “I think a night apart would be good and I need you to respect that.”

He didn't like the idea, he liked having you in his bed at night, but if he wanted to keep you around then he probably needed to listen to your needs. He was sulking, giving you a dismissive wave as he looked away from you. You managed not to roll your eyes as you patted him on the shoulder and walked out of the kitchen, leaving him by himself.

Chie/Yu - This was actually one of the first ships I liked for Yu. I've only ever had the chance to explore it briefly before it was snuffed out but that was years ago. So I'm interested to see if I can fool around with it again, even if it's just as friends tbh. I just like their dynamic.

Chie/Yukiko - The besties. I love these two together either as besties or lovers it doesn't matter. We've talked about this before so I won't have to say much but I'm always down for interactions between these two. I almost never get to explore this one.

Naoto/Rise - I have always liked the dynamic potential between Rise and Naoto. Both being under such tremendous pressure and all, I just think I like how different they are despite their similar experiences. They're like total opposites but those types usually have an easier time meshing together for great interactions.

Naoto/Yukiko - I have always been … intrigued by Naoto and Yukiko interactions. I cannot explain where this idea came from I just think it would be interesting for them to hang out together. They're both busybodies that need to slow down. Maybe they should take it slow together.

Akihiko/Makoto - These two are slept on. There's potential here. Maybe Makoto should be dragged out of their damn bed for a change. Get up and do work, fool. Also join him in his likely very ill-advised adventures to Tartarus please. Having Makoto there really pushes him to do better and he likes that.

Akihiko/Hamuko - I know a lot of people like this dynamic and I'm welcoming any all interactions with it. I've seen his cringey dialogue/route with Hamuko and I love him for it. Haven't seen all of portable though but that doesn't really stop me. I mean I assumed the main story was essentially the same and paid more attention to the character interactions so if there's anything different main story-wise I probably did not see it but yes I am curious about these two.

Akihiko/Mitsuru - Ah, my first Akihiko ship. Brother, I love these two together. I am a 3rd year shipper first and a person second. I just really like their bond alright. She keeps him in check, he watches her back, it's so nice. This is like my bread and butter. I also just like how much she calls him out, it's hilarious. She knows him so well. Other than ships though I just like their dynamic in general I'm just biased.

Akihiko/Shinjiro - Shinjiii pspspspspsps. C'mere bestie, time to criticize Akihiko for his decisions again! The dynamic between these two has always been interesting, but I've never had a chance to interact with a Shinjiro before. Maybe I just like people that bully Akihiko is what I'm finding out?

Ken/Yukari - Yukari PLEASE tell Ken about your job as Pink Argus please please please. He may say it's childish or whatever but I cling to this interaction with my claws. He genuinely thinks it's so awesome, even if he's playing cool, he's definitely going to fanboy on the inside. Little brother wants to know what it's like, you're living his childhood dream at least fill him in on the details. He may have to collect her merch to support her.

Ken/Mitsuru - He's … trying to do his best at learning French to impress her but it's a little difficult, his English is better. I think he seeks her praise, even if he tries to act like he isn't. I'm a big fan of Ken seeking approval from his senpai and just genuinely valuing those bonds. Is this lingering feelings over the loss of his mother at a young age? Probably! But that isn't the point! The point is she inspires him and is the reason he's aiming so high in the first place.

Ken/Akihiko - Speaking of people that inspire him. Ken's still working on his physical routine but Akihiko is a still the goal he's aiming toward. Someone else to seek praise from and a role model he probably shouldn't be studying as closely as he is but that's fine, so what if he's a little reckless in combat. He admires everything ab out him and wants to grow to become as strong and reliable as him one day.

Ken/Hamuko - Hamuko couldn't escape this list. Past his little crush as a kid I just think he enjoys her company overall. She's quite possibly the person he feels is easiest for him to reach or talk to. Bearer of all of his childish and/or embarrassing secrets, I'm afraid. The same is essentially true for Makoto.

Ken/Shinjiro - Oof. Complicated. That's about how I'd sum up his feelings toward Shinjiro in general tbh. As much as he's accepted that truth too much as happened for him to simply act normal around this guy.

Ken/Futaba - Featherman buddies. Need I say more.

Ken/Makoto - Ken's like Akechi if he were actually nice. Ya know still traumatized and a little bloodthirsty but without all of the ugly personality traits. They have a lot of similarities what with trying to live up to all of that pressure they're under and really finding themselves. That's probably why I like when they chat so much? Because I feel like they could bond if they could get past all of the awkwardness. For some reason though I always feel like Ken's one emotional outburst from making this a very difficult path to travel by. It hasn't happened yet but I just feel like he's somehow going to shoot himself in the foot in this dynamic. On a lighter note, he'll watch your Yakuza movies with you Makoto and probably analyze them or use them as inspiration for combat techniques later. Idk how much you know about the Yakuza series but I'm so on board with them gushing about it because I also happen to be a big fan. I also just think … if these two just let loose for a second they could be giant nerds together, and that's just cute to me. Be silly together!

Hidetoshi/Mitsuru - We're testing this out and I'm still getting a feel for how he is but he genuinely likes Mitsuru and would like to spend more time with her if possible. He respects her, even if he's a brat sometimes.

Hidetoshi/Hamuko - Heyyyy Hamuko do you like bratty men? Because they sure do like you. I'd be lying if I said he wasn't going to try to look cooler in front of her in his own … unique way.

Goro/Makoto - LMAO you've answered so many asks for these two to guess the dynamic I might suggest here. I like a little rivalry. Maybe a little rivalry as a treat? Get under her skin for the hell of it? Could this turn into an actual friendship with a little work? Probably! Will Goro make that difficult? Absolutely! I mean he genuinely does admire a few things about her and Sae speaks about her enough for him to have an idea of what she's like outside of PT relations anyway but does he get a sense of joy picking on her? Yes, yes he does. He loves to challenge her.

Goro/Akira - Rivalry!! It never gets old!! But this time, gayer!! He simultaneously cannot stand and wants to get closer to this damned twink. A blessing and a curse. He has never met someone that he's felt so connected to and somewhat disgusted by in his life and it's really only because Akira has everything that he wants. He admires what he's able to do and that he's managed to get so many people to follow him. His charisma is natural and Goro's jealous of that. Jealousy and admiration. He won't make this easy either. He can never make anything easy.

Yk what I wonder (don’t mind me, it’s late and i am crazy) how many people who ship snc together or shipped brolby in the past would actually go mad crazy and turned out to be actual homophobic piece of shts if snc would ever come out (i am not saying they are not straight, i am saying hypothetically speaking… like a scenario that never will happen).

Ik most of the people do it for simple fun and they do not really mean it, but there are still people who mean it and i wonder… if they genuinely would support snc if they ever would say smth “hey yk i am actually kinda into guys” or they only like idea of sam AND colby (if you get what i am saying). Or how many of them are actually homophobic people who just find snc hot and the idea of them tght just seems hot to them, but irl they despise couples like this? Idk if that makes sense, but ik people like this exist, who be like shipping two men tght, but then would bash one of them if they actually turns out gay….

as someone that has talked to a lot of fans over the years, both anon and not, there is a good chunk of ppl that genuinely believe that at the very least colby is bi in some capacity. whether those ppl admit it publicly or not is a different story. personally i think he's straight bc he himself says he is, but if he for some reason came out and said he was also into guys, i wouldn't care/wouldn't be surprised. sam would be a bit surprising tbh lol

but the question of "do fans ship snc together, or would they hate them being gay if they were not with one another" is a good one to ask. i think it's a bit of a mix bag. definitely i do think there would be fans that would not be into it whatsoever. and i do think certain fans would be happy knowing they were together. but i think the ones that would hate them being gay with other men are the ones that have always given me the ick. bc they don't see gay online men (like influencers or actors or whatever) as actual ppl, just characters.

bc there is something to be said about groups of women online being obsessed with gay men/male friendships and shipping them together. the dan-and-philification of certain male friend groups is an interesting one to observe (tho, dnp may not be the best example of that since they are both gay and possibly together idk about that tho so don't quote me). i'll say it this way, as someone who is bi but claimed to be straight for a long time - i always find it a little bit worrisome when i look at a straight woman and see that she is obsessed with a gay male couple. it reads as a fetish, it reads as a weird sexual thing in some way to me no matter what. i can't explain why it feels that way, but it always had. now granted, maybe some of those women are secretly queer in their own way and being into a gay couple is just their way of connecting to their own identity. that's a possibility for sure. but there are plenty of straight women, ones that are 100% straight, that are just way too into gay guys.

i'll be honest, i've had this thought for a long time, but i haven't fleshed it out fully, so i'm sorry if this is all over the place. and i do think some of this can also apply to male fans/nb fans, but i've seen this happen a lot when it comes to a popular guy who's friends with another guy and the fandom as a whole is predominantly women. for some reason, they will get shipped together like crazy and the idea that they aren't into one another is just not accepted.

i do think some of this happens bc parasocial relationships make certain fans see these real ppl as characters and bc of that, they ship them like they would characters on a show. and all of this happens without them taking into account how these guys would actually feel or what they would want.

as for snc, i think most of the fandom would be fine with them being gay if they came out and said they were. i think a lot more would be accepting if they came out and said they were dating, weirdly enough. i've joked with friends on here a bunch that sam is really the only person everyone seems to agree on colby dating, and vice versa.

but i do think weirdly, bc so many fans kinda see snc as characters, that's why they get upset when they do go out and date women that aren't those the fandom has "agreed" upon. that's why there was so much vitriol for katelyn and malia. they were two randos we knew nothing about and had no choice in choosing. how dare snc decide for themselves ! how dare colby date outside the holy trinity ! how dare sam move on from the best gf he'll ever have kat !

okay, i feel like i've rambled enough. sorry if i didn't answer your question, but like i said in the beginning - it's a good one to ask. i'm just not sure if there is a clear cut answer to it.
