"I'm so angry that newsies is so squeaky clean and disneyfied" how do i break it to you that it's a pg disney property
#that's like going into an r rated movie and being angry and upset when it has violence sex profanity or all 3#you wanna write fanfiction? go for it. one of the best newsies fics I've read was absolutely horrific#(92sies) jack was a survivor of child trafficking at medda's hands#he had a little sister who was currently being trafficked by medda#and jacks newsie friends were practically nonexistent as he was mostly shown with his crew from the refuge#all of which were some terrible and/or deeply traumatized boys#so I'm not saying darker reimaginings of newsies are bad#I'm just saying you shouldn't be angry that the original isn't dark

I have no shame
Crossing the International Matpat Canon Line to offer up a Escape the Night Crack Fic idea. The server in Joey's diner is Ness from the FNAF movie.
Like imagine, Joey looks up all excited, expecting this:
Competent, traumatized love of his life SAE Agent Matpat
And instead its this guy:
Gay, AuADHD, always a service worker!Ness. He's just a sweet, hyperactive guy, trying to take Joey's order.
Joey: OMG Matt, there's an eyeball in my milkshake! Ness: Oh no! You're so right, eyeballs are totally out of season! I don't know what the kitchen was thinking! I'm so sorry, can I get you a side of Hand instead? A plate of fingies for the table?
The man doesn't even question a stranger calling him Matt, so long as he tips.
He takes human souls as a legal tender btw.
#sir this is a wendys#forget the minic#joey graceffa is the best fnaf villain#he's out here voting henry emily to die#because afton causes more drama for the group and its good for ratings#ness survives the ETN movie despite doing absolutely nothing#they dont vote for him because he makes them pancakes#joey's out here collecting remnant#im so sorry I'll see myself out#etn#escape the night#escape the night movie#joey graceffa#matpat#fnaf ness#fnaf movie#five nights at freddys#matpat egos

This is why I will never use Goodreads for recommendations. I wanted it to be old Netflix, but with books, but Netflix isn't even Netflix anymore and Goodreads is recommending me this:
Based on WHAT fucking reading preferences? You tell me, chapter and verse, what about the books I have read in the last year made you think I would want to read this.
My recent top rated books are Watership Down, The Goldfinch, The Night Watch, Drood, and Piranesi. PLEASE tell me how those are related to Love Requires Chocolate, I am desperate to know.
I really am struggling to remember when in Watership Down Fiver foresees some guy going HON HON HON BAGUETTE at a college girl. It must have been when he was foreseeing the destruction of the warren and it was just a new, exciting horror that got stuffed to the side.
I would not read this if it were gay, Goodreads. This could read, Whitney Curry is tutored by a grumpy soccer star who is THE HOTTEST BUTCH WOMAN YOU HAVE EVER SEEN IN YOUR LIFE, an I would still go, 'I do not think this book is for me" On the worst day, I cannot see anyone who knows me even TANGENTIALLY recommending this book.
I am borderline insulted (okay we are pushing my love over the borderline) by the idea that this was-- actually let's go look at other recommendations
I????? Yo???? Who asks continually why every third book published in the US has to be YA fantasy?
The only good recommendation I got was Master and Commander, which I have in fact thought about reading before. Not even any shitty pulp horror? Of which I read PLENTY? I know this is less 'recommendations" and more "ads" but jesus fucking christ PRETEND BETTER.
#Young Adult contemporary romance is one of my circles of hell#man when netflix's algorithm was good I got the BEST fucking movie recs#stuff I NEVER would have watched#and so I took rating very seriously

we need to come together as a group to make sure everyone knows what “underrated” means because I’m pretty sure it’s NOT a fan favorite
#g talks#the thing anyone you ask wil gush about for hours#is not underrated#I keep seeing people certain movies ares ‘underrated gems’#meanwhile they were instant cult classics#and had the internet buzzing for months#or are a little older but anyone you ask will say it’s the best#like#that’s NOT underrated#in fact it has too many high ratings#it’s at risk of being OVERrated#mine#/mobile#/okay to reblog

ngl, doing both a Criterion Collection Challenge and an Anti-Criterion Collection Challenge at the same time on Letterboxd has convinced me to cancel my Criterion Channel subscription lol
#Basically you have to watch 52 movies that match that year's list of prompts over the year#For the Criterion Challenge they are all obvs Criterion Collection movies and for the Anti CC one they are movies not included in the CC#and at some point i realized i was having way more fun with the Anti CC one and rating almost all the Criterion watches as mid#and then i realized it's not so much the Criterion-worthy status that matters and makes it enjoyable#but more that i simply enjoy doing challenges and checking off checklists#And it's not like i haven't found some pretty good watches in the CC either... but you can find just as many elsewhere too#Maybe the thing i like best about the CC streaming service#is that they have lots of those behind the scenes bonus features and interviews that i miss from the DVD owning/renting days#Also it's CRAZY to me that some people have actually watched all 1600+ things in the Criterion Collection!!!#And then you read what they have to say about the experience and they're like 'yeah a lot of it was kinda filler / a waste of time tbh'#omggggg but you still did it anyway?#And dont even get me started on the people who try to physically own the entire collection on DVD......#movies#p

"I Saw The TV Glow" was a really great film! Highly recommend it!
...Though I must say I should be cautious about thinking I can determine the vibe of a film solely by tumblr posts about it. I genuinely thought I was going to experience a psychological horror film with a fair amount of body horror and Lynchian storytelling when really it's a PG-13 drama that I could comfortably watch with my parents lol
#this is NOT me saying a film is lesser just because it's rated PG-13!#it's just I'm so used to being recommended very intense adult horror films that I didn't even consider this one might not fit the bill#which is probably for the best considering the subject matter this film tackles#though the most lynchian thing about it is certain fred durst being in the movie
