So, the Haunting Heroes server did a Who Wrote That game with the theme of "wingfic" a while back. I did an entry and I liked it enough that I decided to expand on it. Gonna start posting scenes here whenever I get them done, and eventually piece it together for ao3. This first part is the intro, but the rest probably won't actually be in order.
Update Mar 11, 2024: Here is the Subscription Post
Ectoplasm Gives You Wings
(Working title)
DPxDC, T-rated genfic.
Everyone knew ghosts had wings. It was in every ghost story throughout history, regardless of culture. It was one of their defining traits, like going through walls or fading into invisibility. The unquiet dead soared through the night on birdlike wings, occasionally leaving unnaturally large feathers as an omen of impending death.
As soon as the newly-working portal spat Danny out, he knew there would be no hiding what had happened. His ghostly form came with a pair of large wings that didn't go away when he turned back human. In his ghost form, they were mostly black with bars of white near the bottom edge. The reverse was true when he was human. It was an indication of what had happened to him that he couldn't escape.
Tucker and Sam tried to play it off to his parents as a meta mutation that had suddenly appeared. They'd heard of it happening before on TV and through the internet. Besides, there were winged people in the Justice League. Danny's parents had never talked about them being secret ghosts.
Danny would never forget his parents' horrified faces as they came downstairs and found him. The way their eyes skipped over his face entirely and focused on the wings behind him. His dad frozen in place, expression slack with shock. His mom's face going from horror to determination as she set her jaw and reached for a bazooka.
Danny and his friends managed to escape them and run all the way to Tucker's house. Running was harder with a new pair of limbs hanging off his back like so much dead (hah) weight. It was clear that Danny couldn't stay here. His parents might be cranks, but once they realized the portal worked they would have evidence to prove Danny was a ghost. At least, sort of. Would they try to experiment on him, or just try to help him pass on? Danny assumed it would be the latter, but he had also assumed his mom wouldn't ever draw a weapon on him.
Tucker and Sam helped him to pack a camping backpack full of spare clothes he'd left at Tucker's, a handful of important essentials like a first aid kit, and a sleeping bag. They left for a while and came back with a cheap cellphone, a handful of prepaid phone cards, and a surprising amount of cash. Who would have thought Sam was secretly loaded?
They argued all night about where he should go. Danny barely knew his Dad's side of the family, let alone whether they'd take him in. His mom's sister Alicia was somewhere in Arkansas, but Danny couldn't remember the name of the town. Besides, he hadn't seen her since he was about nine. What if she believed Maddie over him? Tucker and Sam suggested their own family members. Danny turned them down. He didn't want to be a burden to his friends' families.
In the end, they decided that he would blend in best in a big city far away from Amity. The next day, Danny climbed on a Greyhound bus headed to the East Coast. He couldn't hide the wings, no matter what he did. The best he could do was wrap the sleeping bag around himself like a blanket. Thankfully, no one on the bus seemed to care. They all had their own issues to worry about. Most seemed content to watch their phones or the scenery instead of looking too closely at the weird kid wrapped in a big, lumpy sleeping bag.
As the hours dragged on, Danny was increasingly greatful that everyone was minding their own business. There was something else wrong with him. His hands kept slipping through the sleeping bag. Going through solid objects, like a ghost.
The plan was to find a place in Metropolis that provided resources to meta kids. But by the time the bus reached Gotham Danny was exhausted and anxious. His hands had started to go through things. What if he went straight through the bus while it was driving? He had to get a handle on this. He could always go to Metropolis the next day.
Danny got off the bus. The city around him was gray and dreary, from the concrete sidewalks up to the cloud-covered sky. It felt like the sky was too close, more of a ceiling than an open expanse. Something about it gave Danny a strangely claustrophobic feeling. He tried to shrug it off as the lack of sleep catching up to him. The last time Danny slept was the night before the portal accident. That had been well over twenty-four hours ago. He needed to find a safe place to sleep.

So I met David Tennant this weekend…
Story time below the cut:
Thursday 7/11: Driving Down
I live in south GA so I just drove down to Miami, FL for the convention. Left about 11:30am and got to Miami at 9pm. Checked into the hotel and ordered food from DoorDash. Practically passed out cause I was so tired from that drive.
Friday 7/12: Day Before The Convention
Friday didn’t offer much at first. I was meeting a friend down there and their flight didn’t land in Miami until that night. In the meanwhile I went to Publix to get some drinks and snacks for the room and got lunch from Subway. We went down to the boardwalk area for a bit once she landed and went downtown to get something to eat. It was a bit expensive but good, what else would you expect. Saw where Georgia posted on her story showing she and David were also downtown. Promptly freaked out and got excited at knowing he was within a few miles radius of us. (Didn’t ever see him obviously). Turns out the free public parking wasn’t free and got a ticket for $30… oops. Went back to the hotel and played Battleship and went to bed.
Saturday 7/13: Day of the Convention
Got an Uber there cause I’m not dealing with that traffic again and arrived at like 9am. Waited in line until 10am for the show floor to open. We walked around a bit cause our photo op wasn’t scheduled until 11:10. I got a TARDIS and 221B keychain as well as a Supercon t-shirt. We got in line and got our picture between like 11:20-11:30ish I think? It’s a blur tbh, I saw him and lost all track of time. It was really quick so I couldn’t really get to talk to him. It was just a “hey” “hi” 📸 “have a good one.” 👋🏻 It was a long wait in the line but it passed by pretty quickly cause I got to talk to a few other people in line. This was honestly one of the best parts of the convention besides David himself because I got to meet such like-minded people. You could strike up a conversation with practically anyone and have tons of common interests. My friend and I actually kinda made friends with this other girl that was there by herself so the three of us stuck together the rest of the day. His panel started at 12:30, so we were in line by 11:50 and sat by 12:25. His panel was really fun. It’s really interesting watching his thought process happen live cause it’s so chaotic. I love him and his failed analogies.
David: “I’m going to stop now. I can smell the frosting from here.”
They had a Q&A in the second half of the panel. The new girl and I actually got in line to do the Q&A, but if you know anything about David you know he’s gonna take his time to fully answer even the simplest of questions, so we got through maybe 6-7 questions within 30 minutes. One of those questions was actually from his own kids, so that was funny. I’m not sure if it was Olive or Wilfred that asked, they were both there.
Kid: “who’s your favorite kid?”
David: “who’s your favorite parent?”
Kid: “well Georgia just recorded for a book, so-”
After the panel, the three of us battled the autograph line. We had prepaid for our autograph, so we got in one line from like 12:45-1:45 to register our QR code or whatever and get a little blue ticket. Then we had to wait in another line from like 2:30-5 to get the autograph. Was worth it though. My friend got a book signed and she made a little drawing for him, which he accepted and had her give it to one of his kids to hold onto. I had him sign my Crowley cover of Good Omens (plan to one day have Michael Sheen sign the Aziraphale cover). I honestly can’t remember exactly how our conversation went but it was something along the lines of
David: “Hi, [my name]!”
Me: “Hey!”
David: “So you want me to just sign right here?” (Indicates top half of the inside cover)
Me: “Yea, that’s fine right there!” (Gives a second for him to sign) “I also made this for you if you’d like. It’s coasters of you and your family’s names in Gallifrayan.”
David: (finishes signing and looks up) “oh, that’s neat! That’s all of us in Gallifrayan?”
Me: “Yea, this is Wilfred’s on top I think.”
David: “Cool! Give this to them (gestures to his kids sitting beside him) so they can investigate it.”
I handed the coaster set to Olive and she did actually start investigating it which I find funny and was showing it to Wilfred. My friend also had a small interaction with them and gave them some bracelets she made. They actually put them on so that was nice. I saw them looking at the coasters still as I was walking away so I hope they like them. (Pictures are of the coasters and some examples of what they looked like. Did all 7 of their names as well as “Tennant” to make it an even 8).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After the autograph, we pretty much just wrapped things up and got ready to leave. We said bye to the new girl and exchanged contact info. Got an Uber back and DoorDashed dinner. Was in bed by 10.
Sunday 7/14: Drive Back Home
What it says on the tin. My friend had to get up at like 3am for her flight so we had to call it a night pretty early Saturday and I left the hotel about 11:30am Sunday morning. Got home about 7pm.
Overall a 10/10 experience. Even with the large crowds, no one was fighting or anything and were generally very nice. Next time there’s a convention somewhat close to me I’m totally ready to go.

Married to The Enemy- Shingen Ch. 30
Chapter 30
I sat in a chair in the hospital beside Shingen’s bed. Since arriving at the hospital, Shingen’s room had been a flurry of activity. Doctors and nurses in and out conducting various tests. Shingen followed the instructions well as the staff examined him and drew blood or gave him a shot.
After some time, we had a few moments to ourselves. “How are you feeling?” I asked him, holding his hand.
Shingen smiled at me, no less handsome despite the dark circles beneath his eyes and paleness of his skin. “Hopeful.” He answered.
I returned his smile. “Me, too.” I replied.
“A little tired, too. But nothing I’m not used to.” He added.
“Well, then you should get some rest while you can.” I told him.
“Or I have an alternative that would give me some energy.” Shingen replied, giving me a seductive smile.
I eyed him suspiciously. “And what do you think that is?”
“A kiss from my goddess.” He answered.
I giggled. “Well, I know you must be feeling okay if you can still flirt with me like this.” I said before leaning in and giving him a light peck on the lips.
Shingen lifted his hand to cup my cheek. “It would be a crime if I ever didn’t take the opportunity to flirt with my wife.”
Just then there was a knock on the door and then Sasuke and his professor were stepping in. “Pardon us.” Sasuke announced. He had changed into a pair of jeans and a green t-shirt.
“I was getting this together for you.” Sasaki said, handing me a small purse.
I opened it up and found a wallet, a key, and a cell phone inside. “What’s…”
“The wallet has a prepaid bank card for you to get anything you need. The key is to an apartment close to the hospital, and the cell phone is already set up as your primary contact for here.” Sasaki explained. “And of course for you to contact anyone that you might need or want to as well.”
“My number is also in there already as well.” Sasuke added.
“Right…thank you but that’s…” I tried to protest, at least about the money.
“Think nothing of it.” Sasaki said. “It’s just something to get you started.”
“Professor Sasaki is right, Ava.” Sasuke agreed.
I nodded and then bowed politely at them both. “Thank you.”
“I really have to thank you as well.” Shingen said.
“You can thank me when you’re recovered.” Sasaki replied. “Perhaps by telling me a bit about yourself? It’s not everyday someone I’ve learned about in history just walks into the modern day.”
“So, you still learn about me?” He asked.
“You and everyone else.” Sasuke replied. “Though everyone is completely different from what I expected.”
We all talked for a while longer, making plans before a nurse was coming in to tell us visiting hours were over. I could also tell that Shingen needed the rest. Though a part of me worried about him being here all alone. Would he sleep well in such a strange place? Also…there was a selfish part of me…would I be able to sleep without him?
“Have a good night, Lord Shingen.” Sasuke said waving to Shingen. “You are in the best hands here.”
“Good night, Sasuke.” Shingen replied, waving.
Sasaki had already left. Sasuke turned to me. “I’ll wait for you in the hall, Ava and then show you to the apartment.”
I nodded. “Okay, thanks.”
Shingen and I were soon alone. Well as alone as you could get in a hospital anyways. “Do you need anything before I leave?” I asked, standing beside his bed now.
Shingen opened his arms. “Just to hold you.” He answered. “And a few kisses.”
I smiled as I moved to sit beside him in the bed, wrapping my arms around him as those large arms enclosed around me. He kissed me on the forehead as I slowly settled in, resting my head against his chest, hearing his heartbeat. “Are you gonna be okay here?” I asked. “By yourself I mean.”
“I won’t lie and say that I won’t miss holding you in my arms all night.” Shingen replied. “Will you be alright without me?”
“Well, if you’re not lying, then I won’t lie either…no.” I answered. “I’ve gotten rather used to falling asleep in your arms.”
“I’m glad to know my angel will miss me as much as I will you.” Shingen replied.
“But this is where you need to be.” I said. “And this is the way I can be sure to have even more nights with you.”
Shingen’s arms tightened around me. “It seems a necessary sacrifice to make. A handful of nights apart for a lifetime’s worth together.”
I nodded. “Yes.” I was then lifting my head up to meet his gaze. Our lips met in a tender kiss. “I love you, Shingen.” I murmured after we broke the kiss.
“I love you, Ava.” Shingen replied before pulling me close for one more kiss.
Slowly, reluctantly we pulled apart. I rose from the bed and bent to give him one last peck. “I’ll be back first thing in the morning.” I said.
“Get some rest, my love.” Shingen told me.
“You, too.” I replied.
I was exiting the room, leaving Shingen alone. Sasuke was waiting in the hall. “Are you ready?” He asked.
I nodded. “I guess, yeah.”
“Will you be okay, Ava?” Sasuke asked.
I nodded. “Yes…I mean I’m going to miss him tonight, but I’ll be okay.”
“You’ll be able to come and go as you please during visiting hours.” Sasuke assured me as we began to leave the hospital. “The apartment building is just this way.”
“Thanks.” I said.
It didn’t take too long before we were arriving at the apartment building. My apartment was on the fifth floor. It was a very simple one bedroom, one bathroom with a small living room and kitchen. It honestly wasn’t too far off from the apartment I used to live in previously. There was a TV and a computer as well for serving my basic entertainment needs.
“There’s some basic food in the fridge.” Sasuke explained. “And I am about three doors down if you need anything.”
“Okay, thanks, Sasuke. For everything, seriously.”
“No problem. I’m glad to help. I’m also really glad Lord Shingen agreed to come.” Sasuke replied.
We spoke a few more moments before Sasuke was leaving. “Welp, time to start exploring, I guess.” I muttered to myself as I looked around the small apartment. I was pleasantly surprised when I found a set of pajamas and some basics in the bathroom.
I decided to take a nice hot shower and then slid into the pajamas. It was a pink button top and matching pink shorts. They were a little on the big side, but they worked. Once I had finished my shower, I realized how tired I was. Between traveling through time and getting Shingen set up in the hospital, I felt drained.
I walked into the bedroom and looked at the bed. It was a double bed and looked rather comfortable…but also rather lonely. I pulled the covers aside and climbed in, resting my head on one pillow and then grabbing the other to hold. “It’s no substitute.” I muttered to myself. “But it’s the best I can do.”
It was surprising how quickly I had grown accustomed to sleeping next to Shingen. Being wrapped in his warm embrace always made me feel so safe and secure. Breathing in his scent and hearing his heart were both calming and comforting.
I tried to give myself a little pep talk. “Come on Ava. This is nothing compared to what Shingen must be going through.” I told myself. “He’s in a strange place and all alone right now. At least you’re familiar with the modern day and all that.”
Of course, that only made me worry about Shingen and hope he was getting a good night’s rest in the hospital…which he might have been. Especially if they gave him anything. I let out a sigh as I reached for the phone I had been given. First I set an alarm for relatively early in the morning. I wanted to go to Shingen as soon as possible…of course I was also going to have to buy myself some clothes as well.
Once I had my alarm set, I was searching for some ASMR videos and found some. Though they were relaxing, I still couldn’t shut my mind off or shake the loneliness I felt. So, I made a plan for the next day. I would wake up bright and early, hit a clothing store, and then I would stop by a bakery and find a sweet breakfast to take to the hospital and share with Shingen. I could just picture the smile on his face as he tried some modern sweets.
“Alright, it’s set then. I just need to go to sleep so I can put this plan in motion.” Apparently being a bit lonely made me talk to myself more than I would like to admit. Maybe I should have let Saki come with me…no no, that’s selfish. Yukimura needed her. I just had to be strong for Shingen.
It took about three ASMR videos before I finally fell asleep. At least once I was asleep, I dreamed of being in Shingen’s arms once more. I just had to remember a few nights apart for a lifetime together.
Shingen…
Shingen lay in the hospital bed, trying to sleep. The nurse had come in and turned the lights off and drawn the curtains. Though Shingen could still hear the sounds of the city outside and some light managed to get through.
The advanced technology surrounding him almost seemed like a dream. “Perhaps I died and was blessed to go to Heaven after all.” He murmured. “Though my angel leaving me makes me wonder if it is Hell.”
It was funny to Shingen, how quickly he had grown accustomed to sleeping with Ava in his arms. The feel of her head resting against his chest. Her scent as he buried his nose in the top of her hair. Her warmth pressed against him.
He couldn’t help but to wonder if she was feeling similarly. She had been reluctant to go. “I hope she is able to sleep well.” He spoke to himself.
After a while there was a soft knock on his door and then a nurse came in. “Sorry to bother you, Mr. Takahashi, but I have to check your vitals.” She told him.
“Alright.” Shingen replied.
“Did I wake you?” The nurse asked as she began to check Shingen’s temperature and a few other things. These had all been checked when he had first come in. Apparently they were something they checked periodically at the hospital.
“No. I was awake.” Shingen answered.
The nurse nodded. “Hospitals aren’t the easiest place to sleep. Even if the beds are rather comfortable.”
“It’s…it’s more that I miss my wife.” Shingen replied.
“I read on your chart that you’re married.” The nurse said. “Are you two newlyweds?”
“Yes.” Shingen answered. “Though it is truly amazing how quickly I became accustomed to having her with me every night.”
“I am betting she probably misses you, too.” The nurse said. “We’ll do our best to get you all fixed up and back home with your wife.”
“I appreciate that.” Shingen replied.
“However, rest is important. I can give you a little something that will help you sleep.” She said. She was then getting into a little cart she had brought in with her and pulling out an object Shingen had come to learn was a syringe.
Earlier a different nurse had put what was called an IV in his arm. This nurse was now injecting the liquid inside the syringe directly into this IV. “It’s still amazing that you can get the medicine directly into the blood like that.” Shingen muttered.
The nurse smiled at him. “Yes. It’s much faster than taking a pill. You should be feeling the effects soon and it should help you drift off to a nice and comfortable sleep.” She told him. “Is there anything else I can get you? Some water or a snack?”
“No, thank you though.” Shingen replied. The nurse was soon leaving. Shingen was once again alone. And the nurse was right. The medication was quickly kicking in and his eyelids were feeling rather heavy.I hope Ava is able to get some sleep. Shingen thought before his eyes closed and sleep claimed him, his dreams taking him to a pleasant meadow where he shared a picnic with Ava and held her close as they shared their sweets.

here's another bc i like how it started <3
-
undercover op where ace sees Sabo behind the counter and immediately moves to play along
Sabo working as a barista in a fancy upscale cafe that businessmen in the area flock to in droves. He has register duty for the week and the screen system has already been wired so each card that's swiped gets the data pulled and saved to an external drive. When Ace walks through the front door Sabo does his best to smile through his teeth.
“Is cash okay?”
“Sorry, sir, all we take is card.”
“Ah, no problem. Got one saved to my phone.”
“I’m afraid it has to be a physical card.”
“That so? Let me see what i have here. Will a gift card do?”
“We are not accepting gift cards at the current time.”
“Just my luck. Oh!” Ace smiles wide and pulls a silver card from his wallet. “Good thing i have a prepaid credit card on me! There you go.”
Sabo takes it with more force than necessary and swipes it through the system without looking. “Very good, sir. Anything else for the day?”
“Well, actually-”
Sabo's eyes fall open and his pupils are narrowed to slits. “That was rhetorical,” he hisses between his teeth, leaning just slightly closer to Ace so he can't be overheard. “Take a seat, Ace,” he says, saying the name Ace had given him to write on the order with such disdain but disguising it with a well-intentioned smile.
Ace is having none of it, planting a palm heavy on the counter between them as a warning to keep Sabo close. “Don't be like that, sweetheart. I was only curious as to when a certain barista would be off for the night.”
Sabo sniffs and pointedly leans back, looking at his nails and perfectly playing the part of pretending to halt a customer's advances. “Shop closes at six,” he mumbles.
“So seven?” ace tries. “Or six-thirty?”
“Closer to seven,” he mutters, then turns to accept Ace's ready-made drink and slams it onto the counter so he just barely avoids crushing Ace's hand. “There you are!” he announces, overly fake and plastic smile perfectly intact. “Enjoy.”
Ace takes the card he now suspects has no balance remaining and his too-expensive coffee and chooses to be petty and take a seat at the back of the cafe instead of leaving outright. This spot gives him the perfect view of Sabo, which he knows has the other seething, but hey. It's been some time since they've seen each other. The least he can do is enjoy it before it's all over.
--
“I had no idea you were seeing someone, sabby! You’re so cute together, too! Hehe~”
Sabo grits his teeth behind closed lips and works hard to not snap the after-rush checklist clipboard between his suddenly-taut fingers. “Cute is not a word i want to be associated with, especially not in this setting. And no, i’m not seeing anyone.” He turns sharp on his heel and points a finger threateningly at his teen coworker. “Unless any other thirty-something in a suit asks after me, and then you say i am not single. Understood?”
Aisa laughs behind a poised hand and turns her eyes to very blatantly look in ace’s direction. “No? Well if he’s not taken, maybe i’ll try my chances.”
Sabo holds back most of his strength when he brings the clipboard down over her head. She still whines and brings both arms up to shield herself, the little drama queen. “Don’t, he’s too old for you. If i let you flirt with men while on the clock, your father would have my head.”
Aisa sticks out her tongue, but the act of defiance is tamed by the shudder that runs through her frame. “Yeah, yeah. You always gotta ruin my fun.”
It keeps him sane, most of the time: getting to put a brat in her place. He hadn’t planned on being stuck in shifts with the owner’s own daughter, but his luck had always been down in the dirt. Adding him suddenly showing up out of nowhere was just the cherry on top of this whole fiasco. At least he only had a week left. If he could–
Sabo raises a brow at aisa’s enthusiastic waving and looks over his shoulder to see her target.
Of course it’s ace, at the door with his empty to-go cup, waving one-handedly in sabo’s direction.
Sabo crosses his arms in response, wanting no part in this. He turns back to snap at aisa only to find she’d stopped on her own, now content with leering at him from up on high.
“Ohhh, i get it now,” she insists, making her voice extra bubbly for the added edge. “He’s your ex, isn’t he?”
The clipboard snaps in two before he can register the pressure he’d applied to it. Aisa frowns and grows quiet when she sees. She jumps off the counter and mutters an apology before hurrying into the back room.
Sabo can’t even blame her. He can’t even get mad. She’d been right, after all.
