Related plants: A member of the daisy family Asteraceae that consists of over 32,000 known species of flowering plants in over 1,900 genera within it such as chamomile, coneflowers, dahlia, daisy, dandelion, goldenrod, lettuce, marigold & sunflower
Parts used: Leaves & flowers
Habitat & cultivation: Common mugwort is native to Europe and Eastern Asia. Mugwort was brought into North America as early as the 1600’s for medicinal purposes. It spread throughout the Northeastern U.S. as a contaminant on ships and nurseries.
Plant type: Perennial
Region: 3-8
Harvest: The flowering tops of mugwort should be collected once they bloom or right before the blooms open. The leaves of mugwort plants should be collected before the plant flowers. Older leaves & flowers are significantly more bitter
Planting tips: Mugwort seeds can benefit from a special 1 to 2 week treatment called cold moist stratification prior to planting them & need cold weather to break down germination inhibitors. The seeds require light to germinate, so be careful not to cover them when planting. Mugwort does not like to be overwatered & is very drought tolerant. It is also an invasive weed & best kept in a container.
Medicinal information: Historically mugwort has been used in traditional systems of medicine in different parts of the world. Today, mugwort taken orally is promoted for digestive problems, irregular menstruation, and high blood pressure. It is also promoted as a sedative, laxative, anti-inflammatory & liver tonic. Mugwort lotion applied topically can aid in itching caused by hypertrophic scars & When being smoked, it exhibits mild intoxicating properties & strong relaxing properties.

Steve spends the first week after graduation trying to find a job and himself. He goes in and out of stores, leaving applications and looking through their shelves.
His parents are home; his dad is just waiting for an opportunity to kick him out or force him into an office job depending on if he's in a good mood or not when Steve inevitably gives up.
Of course, Steve has no plans on proving his dad right by giving up. His parents didn't even have the decency to attend his graduation; they only came home to confirm his college plans, hoping for something to brag about. Steve can't count how many times he's been called a disappointment in the last week.
He comes home with a job at Scoops Ahoy and a tarot deck. His parents leave the same way they came; without telling him.
The second week after graduation is interesting. Steve spends the days working for minimal wage with a coworker that makes fun of him and the evenings trying to learn tarot.
After the first time that he successfully does a reading for himself, he starts remembering the herbal remedies his mum would use when he was young and often got sick. The more he uses the tarot deck, the more he thinks about her herb garden and books, the more aware he is of his failing hearing and vision on the left side.
The latter has more to do with his job than the tarot deck, but it does make him wonder if there's anything he can do with plants. He can't go to the hospital without risking breaking the terms of two NDAs.
So Steve finds the books his mum used and starts reading them, writing down notes for what plants would be good to start growing, for what remedies actually seem helpful. What makes for helpful teas or incense or oils, what makes for good charms to carry around.
He remembers best through repetition so he makes rituals of the most useful things; it also helps getting him to use it. Much like how his self-care routines are rituals in a way.
Steve knows people are starting to whisper about him, knows that it's strange that he's carrying around plants and a tarot deck, that he takes moments out of his day to remember to breathe and recite self affirmations like they were spells. His hair is growing longer and wilder, he tilts his head to see and hear better, he's no longer trying to repress hundreds of small things just to fit in. He's letting himself be strange, letting himself use movement to process his emotions and repeat sounds because it feels good. He stops trying to force words out when there feels like a disconnect between his brain and mouth.
It's a month after graduation when he's taking the trash out at the end of his shift and hears something behind the dumpster. There's a small kitten that seems to be screaming with how loud the meows are.
Steve has never been allowed a pet, but he loves petting Tews when he's over at Dustin's, and it would help him feel less lonely. So he takes the kitten home.
Once he has given the poor thing a bath, the kitten turns out to be completely white, and very skinny. Steve has no idea how old it is, doesn't know what he should feed it, and it's too late to take it to a vet.
He's thinking about possible names as he's going through the fridge for the milk; the only cat names he knows are Mews and Tews. He's trying to think if it has to end with -ews when his eyes land on the slices of honeydew that his mum had left behind.
Steve feels quite proud of himself for naming the cat Honeydew; it follows the one rule for cat names that he knows of, and he can call it Honey for short, which is very cute.
Dustin laughs at him when Steve first tells him about the cat, and takes to calling Honeydew for Dewey, as in the Dewey Decimal System. Steve doesn't bother correcting it; he's pretty sure Honey is deaf. It explains the loud meowing and how the cat never seem to react to noise.
He still wants to be able to communicate with his new cat, and maybe it would be good for him too, so Steve borrows any books on ASL he can find. And he makes sure that Honeydew knows that the sign for Honey is its name.
When Steve does take Honeydew to a vet, he gets it confirmed that the kitten is male, around five weeks old, and completely deaf.
Honey's eyes turn green with time (kittens all have blue eyes the first six weeks).
Steve carries Honey around on his shoulders a lot.
thanks @metalmunch for the name!

100 Witchcraft Tips in 100 Days!
Day 5 - Fresh vs. Dry Herbs
Mabon is right around the corner and that means fall is upon us. It's time to harvest your gardens and restock and resupply on your herbs and plants. It's time to give thanks and to thank the earth for it's bountiful harvest. I wanted to take this time to say thank you to each and every one of you. This platform is a wonderful place and I'm overjoyed to be here sharing it with all of you. Thank you for following and supporting this blog.
What's the Differences?
Fresh herbs carry the same correspondences as it's dried counterpart; that much will never change. Dried is the standard, easy method of using herbs in a general sense. This could be in cooking, spell jars, sachets, incense, etc. Fresh herbs are typically harder to obtain, require patience, and have fewer uses. So why do some witches use fresh herbs you may ask? I've found through my own practice that using fresh herbs typically resulted in faster results while dried works better for long lasting spells. This may just be association though.
Spells for Fresh Herbs
Healing & Restoration - Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Thyme
Love & Attraction - Rose Petals, Lavender, Jasmine
Cleansing & Purification - Rosemary, Thyme, Lemongrass
Prosperity & Abundance - Basil, Mint, Parsley
Protection - Rosemary, Garlic, Basil
Luck & Good Fortune - Rose, Basil, Dill
Success & Achievement - Bay Leaves, Rosemary, Clover
Grounding & Balance - Cedar, Sage, Pine
Banishing - Garlic, Onion, Clove
How to Use Dried Herbs
In Kitchen Magic: You can use fresh herbs as well, however, dried herbs are on average much more potent and effective then fresh herbs.
To Anoint Candles: I've found using dried herbs typically sticks better to the candle when compared to using fresh herbs.
In Tea Blends: While fresh works for certain teas dry is ultimately your best bet when making an herbal tea.
In Bath Sachets: You could use fresh herbs, however I found dried herbs to soak up the water and release more of it's natural oils then fresh.
In Spell Jars: For long term spell jars dried herbs can minimize the risk for molding when compared to fresh herbs.

On the subject of Elven perfume-making
The Sindar of Doriath are the experts and pioneers in Elven perfumes and fragrances. Though perfume-making was a popular pastime among female Elves, it hasn't stopped male Elves from making their own fragrances as well.
During the Years of the Trees, many Iathrim women would venture to all the forests of Doriath to study the plants, berries, and flowers that grew. They went to Neldoreth, Brethil, Nivrim, Region, and Radhrim, and using what they learned from trial and experimentation, they would gather and cultivate the flora and herbs and berries with the best fragrances and perfume notes. Then, they would use them to create perfumes by distilling certain ingredients in brandy.
The five most popular Doriathrim fragrances are:
Lavender: while useful as an antiseptic and an air freshener for sick rooms, lavender also has other uses. Sindarin women often use lavender soaps and elixirs for bathing, and it's also a popular fragrance for everyday use. Mothers also use lavender balms to soothe their children and help them sleep. This started when Lúthien was a baby, and had trouble sleeping. Melian made herself smell like lavender, and she would also rub baby Lúthien with a lavender balm to soothe her into sleep. Since then, a lot of Sindarin mothers began using lavender balms on their children; a tradition that would be carried down throughout the ages.
Sandalwood: this perfume is popular for both Sindarin men and women for one particular reason- its aphrodisiac qualities. With its distinctive soft, warm, smooth woodsy scent, it is especially powerful when mixed with a floral fragrance. Sandalwood is frequently mixed with jasmine to reduce stress and enhance arousal. It's common to spray marital beds with sandalwood perfume to enhance arousal in a newlywed couple. In addition, many Sindarin brides wear this perfume on their wedding night, and it's quite common to give a bottle of sandalwood and jasmine perfume as a wedding gift to a newly-married couple.
Orange blossom: this scent is commonly worn in late spring or early summer. It's a sweet, refreshing, and delicate scent, which stimulates the senses and brings a sense of anticipation for the summer months. In Doriath, this scent is associated with youthfulness, and is given to adolescent Elves on their first teenage begetting day. Orange blossom perfume is mostly popular among the Sindar of the Falas, where the coastal environment almost enhances the citrusy qualities of the scent.
Mugwort: while this herb is commonly used in Sindarin herbal medicine, it's also quite popular for male fragrances in Doriath. It has fresh, herbaceous, and bitter notes, and it's often combined with other ingredients like amber and cedarwood to create a comforting and woodsy scent. The march wardens of Doriath often rub themselves with mugwort balms so that they can hide their natural scent and blend into their environment whenever they go hunting. It makes it much easier for them to hunt without their scent being detected by the animals.
Sage: this herb has soothing qualities to it that makes it useful in both medicine and in fragrances. Its distinctly herbal scent has proven to be calming in many ways, and it has also been used in incense as well. During times of war, the soldiers of Doriath would perfume their armour and weaponry with sage incense as part of a ritual, and many would use sage incense to meditate as well. The fragrance allows soldiers to soothe their minds and nerves before battle, allowing them to reflect on the probability of death, on their hope of survival, and the possibility of victory. Following the First Battle of Beleriand, sage became associated with funerary rites and mourning as well, as many fallen soldiers were commemorated with sage incense during lengthy funeral services in the wake of the battle.

LOVE POISON.
; yandere! metalhead x reader
english isn't my first language
You accompanied your friends to little stores hidden in the nooks and crannies of various streets. Y'all loved the vintage shops where you found unique accessories for your outfits or to decorate your apartments.
While walking together, Natalia, one of your best friends, commented that she had seen a peculiar store: it smelled slightly of marijuana and had a metal and gothic style that caught your attention. Intrigued and excited, y'all decided to go in and explore the place.
As the door opened, the sound of a rusty bell echoed, and a heavy aroma, somewhere between incense and something herbal, filled the air. The walls were covered with posters of metal bands, dark wooden shelves and display cases with gothic jewelry: rings with dark stones, bracelets with skulls and necklaces that looked like ancient relics. The place was a mix between the mystical and the transgressive, and you, fascinated, felt you had found a little hidden treasure in the city.
Natalia, with an excited smile, was the first to head toward a section of leather jackets with classic band patches and metallic studded details.
“Look at this!” she exclaimed, holding up a jacket with dark embroidery and occult symbols.
Meanwhile, you made your way to a darker corner of the store, where they seemed to sell handmade accessories: silver rings with runes, bracelets with snake designs, and pendants in the shapes of moons and stars. Some even seemed to have semi-precious stones embedded in them that glittered in the dim red light of the place. Something about these accessories attracted you, as if they hid secrets from a remote time.
As you approached a display case with amulets, you encountered an intriguing-looking figure. It was the owner of the store, a tall man with long blond hair, pale skin and a mysterious expression in his eyes.
“Do you like anything in particular?”
he asked you, his low, quiet voice echoing among the echoes of the metal music playing in the background.
His delicate but deep-set eyes outlined your thoughts. You stammered timidly as you found some words to explain but a small nervous groan came from you. The man just laughed and nodded his head.
You pointed out a pendant that had interested you, it was perfectly detailed and as beautiful as a ruby.
“Good choice. Follow me”
The fresh air of the street greeted you as you left the store, clearing a little of that dense and strange feeling that had left the place. You looked at the pendant in your hands, the small dagger carved in dark silver, and thought of the guy's words.
“Prepare yourself for what is to come”
You put it in your pocket, determined not to think too much about it.
As you walked to a nearby coffee shop, Natalia looked at you with a knowing smile. “Looks like the store owner caught your eye, huh?” she joked, nudging you gently.
You laughed, trying to disguise it; there was something about that man that had really stuck with you. The days passed, and every time you put on the pendant, you thought of the store and the mysterious connection you had felt with the man. You kept thinking about that place, and on impulse, you decided to visit it again one Saturday afternoon, this time alone.
When you arrived, the store was as quiet and dark as the first time. The guy, upon seeing you enter, flashed a smile as if he had been expecting you.
“You're back” he said, more as a statement than a question. You felt your heart racing, but tried to remain calm.
“Yes… I kept thinking about that place” you replied, scanning the store with your eyes. “And in your words” you added, a little quieter.
He laughed softly and, to your surprise, approached you with a warmth you hadn't noticed before. “Few people come back. But there seems to be something here that draws you” he said, his eyes fixed on yours with an intensity that made you shiver.
Gradually, between increasingly frequent visits, you began to get to know him better. His name was Vance , passionate about music and things about metal genre, someone who found meaning in everything he sold. He would teach you about the history of each accessory, each piece of clothing, and sometimes he would even play heavy metal songs on his guitar when the store was empty. Every conversation with him became more intimate, and you found it harder and harder to leave when the store closed. One afternoon, after closing, Vance invited you to stay a little longer. There was a complicity in the atmosphere, a connection you both felt but had not yet put into words.
“Have you noticed that you come more and more often?” he commented, half jokingly but with a warm tone.
Blushing, you tried to excuse yourself. “Well, I like this place… it has a special charm” you replied, looking at the objects around you to disguise yourself.
He came closer, not taking his eyes off you. “I don't think it's just the store” he murmured, dropping the sentence with a sincerity that took your breath away. You felt your heart pounding, and before you could respond, he reached out for your pendant, brushing it gently.
“This pendant reminds me of you now,” he said, his voice soft and low. “Something enigmatic and beautiful.”
Not knowing what to say, you simply looked at him, and that's when his lips brushed yours in a warm kiss full of pent-up desire. The store, with its dim light and memory-laden atmosphere, was the perfect setting for that first kiss you had both been waiting for, unknowingly, since day one.
From that night on, the store became their little refuge. Vance would show you his world through every object, every vinyl record and every shared story. And you, with each visit, fell more in love with him, with his passion for what he did and his intense gaze that, like that day in the store, seemed to tell you everything he felt without the need for words.
Well, that was the beginning of your relationship. Where Vance was not yet showing his true toxic, possessive and manipulative personality.
my first post after a long time 😭 (I didn't like it that much but I couldn't go on without posting anything anymore)

ah, sigyn! if you have any tips on how to begin worship, i’d love to know, as i’ve been wanting to honor her for a while.
Hey, Nonny!
For me, I began worshipping her after Loki introduced us. It was incredibly difficult to find information on her, unfortunately. I ended up pulling most of my knowledge from the myths and what little else I could find on modern worship. I had found some interesting accounts of modern worship in localized Scandinavian communities, but I can't remember where I found that source. 💀
When reaching out to her, I'd say just be yourself and be respectful, as you would with any deity. Personally, I got her a flower-scented candle, carved her name into the wax, lit some sweet-smelling incense, and lit the candle. I've heard from another Sigyn worship that you can do a ritual where you "hold the bowl" for her, so to speak. This is done by filling a bowl with water and holding it in your hands at her altar for however long you'd like. In this way, it was explained to me that you're holding the bowl of serpent venom for her to give her a break from tending to Loki. I don't personally believe in the myths in a literal sense, but I think the thought that goes into this ritual is what matters.
I suggest reaching out to @broomsick or @notthesomefather for more information; they both have some great resources on Norse deities, although I'm unsure if they know much about Sigyn either. I know Broom in particular is huge on learning about the historical worship of the Norse deities, so I wouldn't be surprised if they have at least something for you. c:
In regards to my personal associations with Sigyn, I'd be happy to share them, but be aware that they're mostly UPG based. Here are some things I associate with her:
Wolves (for her sons, Váli and Narfi); I usually depict them in wholesome, cute, or kind ways
Serpents (I don't usually give offerings related to them, though, due to their negative role in her myth)
Otters, orcas, polar bears/grizzly bears, reindeer/deer, and sometimes moths; most I associate due to their strong familial bonds and pack/herd nature
Bowls, especially ones with beautiful designs
Intricately designed plates, especially those that tell a story or are vintage
Her name is believed to mean "Friend of Victory", "Victory Friend", or something similar to the two; I therefore associate her strongly with victory and overcoming challenges
Family, familial love, loyalty, devotion, resilience, persistence, dedication, inner strength, compassion, caregiving, patience, and fidelity ← domains I associate with her
Light-colored flowers and plants
The colors light pink, gold, yellow light blue, and earthy shades of green and brown
Objects crafted out of love for another person or creature (drawings, wood carvings, crocheted works, etc.)
Family heirlooms, especially those passed down from a maternal figure
Childhood toys, stuffed animals, comfort items, etc. (bonus points if you tell her the stories behind them and why you loved them so much)
Poetry written for or about her, art made of or about her
Defensive weapons; a wolf may not attack humans often, but it still has teeth and claws if needed (protection of loved ones is my reasoning here)
Honey, herbal teas, warmed pastries, warmed breads, soups, and childhood comfort foods
It's not a big list of things, and like I said, it's mostly UPG, but I hope it helps. Take care, and I wish you the best, Nonny! 💚🖤

Would you be willing to tell us anything about your WIPs?
sure! i have so many - like a sick amount lol. so here are just some in no particular order... with songs that have lyrics that fit the plot <3 ive been heavily discouraged as of late and can’t guarantee anything in terms of posting these
about you ; jacaerys x aunt/targ!reader [jace is betrothed to baela], request. ➺ vibes: escaping your family just to tame an untamable beast. saving your cousin's life, almost losing your own. feels like unrequited childhood longing, slow burning; like finding the cherished toy that was lost in your youth. like laughing in the face of death. sounds like 'about you' by the 1975, like the roar of an ancient beast, the buzzing of a fly in the corner of a peaceful room. tastes like herbal tinctures, root of thistle, and milk of the poppy. smells like ancient dragonsmoke and rolls of gauze.
dead men don't sing ; jacaerys x stark!reader, request. ➺ vibes: sweet, but foreboding - like the destiny woven into your bloodline long before your mother’s mother ever had a name. feels like playful love, poorly contained desire; like when the burden placed upon your back is lifted by the one you love. sounds like 'would that i' by hozier, like the northern wind snapping in your ears. tastes like snow on your tongue, remnants of wine upon lips. smells like the woods in winter; like a well-burned hearth.
a golden cage [part iv] ; jacaerys x aunt/targ!reader ➺ vibes: awkward dinner parties, the embarrassment of sprouting affection. feels like an apology in the back of your throat, like the guilt and subsequent relief of looking at someone and feeling like you're looking into a mirror. sounds like 'south' by hippo campus & ‘shake it out’ by florence & the machine; like dramatic declarations and whispered vows. tastes like wine in your cup and the salt of ocean upon lips. smells like incense burnt low and muddled sourleaf tea.

What is Cleansing? The how-to's and methods
The act of removing unwanted energies from a person/place/object.
Cleansing is generally a gentle form of removal, whether it be spiritual or mundane (can also be a very in-depth and harsh process).
Instead of forcefully removing an influence or spirit, you simply brush the energies out of your space.
This process is useful for ensuring that you, or the things near you are clear of energies that could negatively impact you.
It’s useful for creating a blank slate in your environment or preparing tools for spell work and keeping your energy stable and healthy. Negative energies and clutter can impact your spiritual, physical and mental health.
Regular spiritual and physical upkeep is important to keep you balanced and healthy. Spiritual hygiene is a generally important practice for all practitioners. I'm going to share a few ways to do so from my own practice.
Try your best to cleanse every room, not just a single room. Ever had a space so clean but the rest of your house feels gross? It'll be off-balanced that way and it'll be the same way spiritually. However, if you can't you can't. Do what you can, that's what's important.
Remember mundane cleaning is just as good as spiritual. You can smoke cleanse that room all you want but if you still have things all over your floor and molding dishes in your sink, that's still going to bring in both negativity and health consequences. Cleanse responsibly.
Spiritual
Sound - Using a singing bowl, bells, music, chimes, drums, clapping, singing, chanting. A trusty old sound bowl cleansing video on YouTube being openly played in whatever space does the trick just fine.
Smoke - Burning incense with corresponding herbs or herbal bundle. Remember to open a window for negative energy to escape and for safety. Smoke inhalation is generally not a good practice for your lungs. Also, be careful with pets as they have sensitive respiratory systems.
Spray - Infused distilled water with corresponding herbs, oils or salts sprayed around the room to both cleanse and bring in the desired energy. Again be cautious around pets.
Candle - Charging a white candle with intent, dressing it with oils and burning it down to clear your space. Keep away from pets and small children, burn in a fire-safe dish or on tile.
Sunlight/moonlight - Opening your blinds to let solar energy and moonlight to cleanse a space. Only really suitable for that singular space with a window.
Simmer pot - A boiling pot of water over a stovetop filled with intention filled corresponding herbal components that lets off a fragrance to clear the air of negative energy. You can use blessed water for an extra punch if you wish.
Crystal grid - Setting up a crystal grid of crystals for cleansing that room or your house of negative energy. You can either intuitively make your own grid or find one online. Selenite towers as well are lovely for purifying spaces along with being self cleansing. You can use any piece of cleansing corresponding crystal to cleanse but remember you will generally have to cleanse the crystal afterwards to get out any energetic gunk from it.
Salt - Putting out a bowl of salt in what room you’d like to cleanse. Personally I like putting little shot glasses of black salt in high traffic rooms such as shared spaces as I find it packs a punch due to its associations. However do please be careful with salt with pets. Pets have been known to get into things like salt lamps or salt in general and have had very bad health consequences. So please be cautious.
Energy - Your own spiritual energy. You can use energy work to create bubbles of energy around yourself to push out into your space, to burn up and cleanse the energy around the space. This is more of a hard-hitting cleansing method and can be described as banishing. It can also be energetically taxing for fellow spoonie witches or those with small energy reservoirs. Drink plenty of water, have a snack and rest after.
Physical
Vacuum or sweep - Sprinkle sea salt and corresponding herbs on the floor to soak up negative energy. Vacuum or sweep up and dispose of for removal. Historically speaking you move from the back of your house to the front so you can push everything out of your house.
Washing - Physically washing down doorframes and windows with sacred water (holy water, spring water, moon water) and corresponding herbs. You’d go from the back of your house to the front.
Floor wash - Try out a floor wash charged with the intent to wash your floors to fill your space with a spiritual purpose. Get that grime off your floor while reaping both mundane and magical benefits. You’d go from the back of your house the front.
Opening a window - Open that window. Not only will your space be less stuffy but it lets in needed fresh air. If you're in the city near fumes it's a bit harder. Try to get an air purifier if you can, it's very helpful and health-changing.
Shampoo’s and Soaps - For physical cleansing’s try finding herbal based soaps or shampoo with corresponding herbal components for self based cleansing and purifying. For instance I use shampoo with Tea Tree, Lemon and Sage. It’s purifying and I pair it with a Rosemary conditioner for protection. Get creative!
Cleaning products - Cleaning products with lemon for example have been used historically for cleansing and purification. Let the citrus scent leave your space feeling clean and purified with intent. Can either be naturally made with vinegar or store-bought. Either is perfectly fine. Sometimes natural and handmade is good but if you are someone who needs a bacterial spray, it's best to just buy storebought.
Recipes
All-Purpose Cleaner
What you'll need:
One part white vinegar
One part water
Dried Lemon rind - cleansing, purifying
Dried Rosemary sprigs - protective, healing
Combine the above ingredients together, pour into a spray bottle, shake, and then let infuse for a week before using. Strain out the lemon and rosemary. This is great for bringing in purifying energy into your house along with protective properties.
Caution: Do not use acidic cleaners on granite, as they will etch the stone and proceed cautiously on stainless steel. Some manufacturers recommend against using vinegar on their appliance surfaces. Know what's suitable and what's not.
Glass cleaner
What you'll need:
2 cups water
1/2 cup white vinigar
1/4 cup rubbing alcohol 70% concentration
Dried Orange peel - smells good and brings prosperity
Combine the above ingredients together, pour into a spray bottle, shake, and then let infuse for a week before using. Strain out the orange.
Cautions: Avoid cleaning windows on a hot, sunny day or in direct sunlight, because the solution will dry too quickly and leave lots of streaks.
Home Blessings Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner - Not for wood floors
Ingredients
1 cup distilled water
1/4 cup Castille soap
Dried Lavender buds - peace, relaxing
Dried Orange peel
Dried Rosemary sprigs
Directions
In a smaller pot boil together distilled water with the herbal components then strain.
Mix the ingredients and infused water with 2 gallons of hot water to incorporate in a bucket to mop away dirt and grime on tile, vinyl, or linoleum floors.
Remember, store-bought is fine. Look at the ingredients of what you'd like and use your intention. Sometimes making yourself takes up a lot of time and spoons. It's your craft, your rules.

It's goldenrod season! This versatile flower has many historical medicinal and magical properties, and is one of the easiest flowers to find and harvest!
If you're traveling down almost any highway this time of year, you will see these bright yellow flowers. The goldenrod flower can cross breed which means there are over 180 recognized variants across the globe. They tend to bloom from late August until the first frost.
I am not a certified herbalist, so I will direct you to the Chestnut School of Herbal Medicine's extensive page on Goldenrod.
Huge word of caution: if you have a latex allergy, it is advised to skip using goldenrod, as it has 7% latex.
Folk Uses
In the British Isles, it was believed the leaves of a goldenrod plant could lead you to riches.
Many cultures use goldenrod as a divining tool. The stalks would be used for dowsing for both springs and treasure, and the young leaves can be used as a tea to increase divination.
It is also an excellent addition to any prosperity work such as washes, incense, and bowls. It is best to use leaves for washes, as the flowers are known to dye things bright yellow.
For those who practice fiber craft, you can dye natural plant fiber based fabric and yarn for prosperity work.
I hope you use the abundant natural resources to enhance your practices.

Writing Sessions #10 (Papa Emeritus II)
Summary: A curse has fallen on Secondo, and Primo does his best to help. Well, maybe it's not exactly a curse. No. For the first time in forever, Secondo is in love.
A/N: This was inspired by @dearlymrme headcanon. I thought it was amazing and so fitting! Hope you don't mind a little ficlet! Around 800 words.
I love how confused he looks in the gif.
“Remind me why you want this…”
In the candle lit room, Primo’s voice is a tired rasp. There is incense in his hands, an herbal conjunction simmering in a teapot. He is tired, of course, after a long day of tending to his clerical duties. Yet, he can’t deny the way his heart jumped in his chest upon seeing Secondo’s panicked gaze, the quick pace of his breathing.
“I told you, ” Secondo chokes out, still heaving for air. “I need urgent cleansing.”
Urgent. Primo surely hopes this is urgent. It’s three A.M, they both should be sleeping, but Secondo is panting and sweating, so something must be terribly wrong. Maybe he had a bad vision? Perhaps a gruesome epiphany?
Well, for waking him up in a frenzy, Primo hopes Secondo just witnessed the falling of the Ministry in flames and despair. “Don’t worry,” he replies, under his breath. His hands tremble with age, but his fingers manage to deftly move to organize all the necessary ingredients. “This will clean everything.”
“Do the egg thing too.”
Primo gathers another deep breath, cold air filling his lungs and burning in the way in. His brother is too demanding, extremely annoying at this time of the night. “Is there something worrying you in particular? I though you wanted a lighter cleansing, not a whole ritual.”
For long seconds, Secondo merely remains silent. His gaze is obscured by the shadows, head tilted towards the floor. Sitting on an old wooden chair, he looks small, almost like a child about to be scolded. “Someone put a spell on me.”
Now, that’s something to worry about. Primo’s hands halt, half way from reaching the tea pot. Without muttering a word, he reaches for the cups and pour some of the liquid in it, handing it to his brother. Secondo gulps it in one go, face scrunching at the taste. It’s not a surprise. That conjunction is incredibly bitter.
“Do you know who?”
“A Sibling,” Secondo replies, at last. His voice is harsh, words choked in his throat.
“A Sibling?” Primo repeats, gaze immediately falling on the other. He’s surprised, practically speechless. For a Sibling of Sin to ever think about cursing their own Papa… That’s something no one dared before. “Are you sure?”
“I am! That’s why I’m here, asking for your help. I think they put a spell on me. A strong one.”
“What are your symptoms? Tell me all you know.”
The old wall clock ticks slowly. Secondo talks, fast, words falling like a cascade. He can’t stop talking, and the more he tells, the more confused Primo feels. He blindly reaches behind his back, grabbing another chair and pulling it towards himself.
“I see them, I feel them… The sun falling on their hair, the fire in their gaze, the sound of their voice. It haunts me, day and night.”
“Their… voice? Do they speak?”
“They laugh! And it sounds… like a siren’s song. Alluring, charming.”
This time, Primo simply lets his brother continue on his own. Most of the words become a muffled mess at the back of his mind. Oh, how tired he is. Primo has become too old for this.
“Their eyes scorch my soul, I’m telling you! Am I… loosing my mind?”
Muttering a few curses in Italian, Primo lets his head fall into his hands. At least in this position, he doesn’t have to face his stupid brother. “Have you considered you might be in love with them?” He asks, finally. Secondo gasps, dramatically, almost falling from the chair.
“Me, in love? You know me, I'm not that type. Leave that shit to Terzo!”
“What you describe sounds like a crush, stronzo.”
“I sounds like a fucking hex!”
“Why would this Sibling hex you, anyway?”
“Don’t they take witchcraft classes here? Why wouldn’t they?”
Breathe.
Primo inhales again, retaining the air in his lungs before exhaling slowly through his mouth. “Che stai dicendo?” he mutters, again. The headache grows stronger. “Non rompere il cazzo”
This time, at least Secondo has enough survival instinct not to insists. He stays sat on the chair, arms tightly crossed on his chest. Again, Primo thinks he looks like nothing but a child, a confused and even scared one. A part of his heart, a very small one, feels sorry for him.
“I’ll do the egg cleansing too. Only this time, you hear me?” He warns, standing up. His joints creak, and complain. “If there is no hex on you, then you’ll have to accept this might be love.”
“I’d rather have the hex.”
Nodding, Primo lights up the incense and a white candle. “Yes, that’s probably better,” he says, palming the egg and walking the short distance that separates him from Secondo. “Love is a great curse, after all.”
ps: yeah i don't know. This brought back memories of being a child and going to my neighborhood's bruja for cleansings lol.
I had this on my drafts for a while and decided to post it for once. I've been busy lately so I don't think i'll be able to write anything new for a bit.

Perfume chat, because it's hot, summer's ending, and I'm of a mind to list out some of my favourite Hot Weather Perfumes. To be fair, once it gets above 30C/86F, I don't tend to wear scent, but all these I ones I could, and have worn in hot weather, and worth mentioning. Lot of citrus going on here, not much floral, and heavily leaning towards citrus cologne strenght (and away from big floral, gourmand, or sweet eaux de parfum). BYO gender, none of these are marketed specifically one way or another.
-Cédrat Enivrant (Atelier Cologne): the 'cedrat' here is not referring to cedar, but to the ur-citrus known in english as the Citron, aka the mighty Etrog. It's one of the original citrii from which all others spring: it's lumpy, bitter, like 60% rind, and doesn't care what you think. Cedrat Enivrant is a bitter cocktail cologne resembling a French 75 - which is gin and champagne - but dry AF. There's a mintiness, and a pine needle dryness as well. Starts off very high and tart, dries down herbal.
Paris-Deauville (Chanel): part of their Eaux de Chanel cologne-style lighter series, this is an orange/basil combo that stays fairly light and dry - the sweetness is from orange, but otherwise the addition of basil heart note keeps this summery and green. Starts off quite juicy, but 'dries' as it dries, ending in mostly sweet herbs, and the basil is unexpected. Light enough to be a splash bottle though, not a typical Chanel.
Blenheim Bouquet (Penhaligon's): despite going all-in on flashy, heavier things lately, Penhaligon's keeps the old BB on the shelf because I'm p sure it's still one of their best sellers: it's a classic for a reason. Despite listing notes of lemon, black pepper and pine, this comes off mainly with a 'clean pencil shavings' vibe on me, and it suits that freshly-sharpened pencil image. Lemony, sharp, dry, precise. if it was a person it would be Anton Lesser's character in Endeavour.
Melograno (Santa Maria Novella): I sought this out after seeing it on-screen in Casino Royale as one of Vesper Lynd's few belongings in Venice, and it did not disappoint. A warning: despite the name, if you go in expecting a syrupy bath and bodywork's style fruity pomegranate, or dislike things 'that smell like perfume' this perfume is not for you. There is very little, if any, fruit in Melograno, and I confess it's a surprise entry to a cologne-y summer list because it lists several flowers (and oakmoss! and patch!), BUT the reality of it on me is dry dry dryyyy. I have worn this in very hot weather, and the impression is a herbal soap in the cleanest italian bathroom that's ever existed, with a rigid linen handtowel, and some dried flowers in a bowl on the window.
Bergamotto di Positano (Floris): if you DID want fruit, but not syrup, Floris has you covered for orange and mandarin. It steers away from Body Shop fruit with marine notes, but don't let that dissuade you if you avoid CK One types: there's a softness to this from some ginger, green tea, and vanilla in the background. Never goes overly gourmand on me despite the fact that these are all edible things.
Ouarzazate/Series 3 (Comme des Garçons): whaaaaat, an incense in a summer list?? Adding it here as we can't have an entirely citrine list, and this makes the cut due to DRY. CdG did a little series on incense of various styles (the most infamous being Avignon, which does actually smell like a realistic in-use thurible, so hats off to them), and Ouarzazate is their desert incense vibe. It's clean in that dry sauna/spa room sort of way. It's the driest and woodiest of the 4 they did imho. Like walking into a shady, cool, dark wooden room when it's hot outside.
Le Pamplemousse (Miller Harris): MH perfumes divide into those made when Lyn Harris was the nose (interesting, lots of werird herbal combos), and those after she left (generally bigger and sweeter) - this is one of the former. Obviously grapefruit as a theme, which is always a nice bitter citrus for summer, this wears like a crisp white shirt. Despite mentioning things like rhubrarb, the notes are kept in strict order by rosemary, sage, and vetiver. The grapefuit fades as the herbs take over on drydown, manages to evoke clean laundry with no musk. (Bonus points: I have also loved Le Petit Grain from the same house for its twiggy orange tree bundle vibes, but it's discontinued)
Budget options: some countries get great sampling or decanting services (not mine, booooo), and getting 10mls of the above might be easier for you than me, but if not: here's some you can get for a lot less cash but still give you quality-
Vetiver Pamplemousse (Zara): done by theee Jo Malone, so that gives you an idea of the vibe (light, approachable). It's grapefruit, tangerine, and vetiver. Vetiver keeps it dry, quite linear development. Might be slightly 'spicier' than the MH Pampelmousse, or at least more vetiver-forward. Comes in a rollerball for those wanting a short commitment!
4711 (Mäurer & Wirtz): how could i not end on the OG, the classic, the unbeatable 4711. Four-Seven-Eleven has been freshening up people's bathroom routines since 1799, and boasts of a recipe (mostly?) unchanged since Napoleon was tramping around the area. It's citrus, it's lavender, it's romemary, it evaporates in 8 seconds, it's fresh lemony goodness. It's an aftershave, it's a cologne, it's a linen spray, it's a bath soak, is there nothing it cannot do? M&W have started to do endless 'remixes' of the base cologne, in many fruit and floral varieties, but the classic is where it's at. And it costs almost nothing.
#perfume#text post shenanigans#some of these do travel sizes and giftsets (floris and pen's mainly) and SMN does an amaaazing cake soap in that perfume#might do an autumn/winter list later in the season#[edited for typos after posting!]
