Twh corset apologism is insane. Every medical professional with knowledge to day says wearing a back support all day every day is BAD for you!!!!!! are you talking about 1920s corsets or corset/binder combos? because if so...yeah that's not "comfortable;" it's Spanx + a binder. Met Gala 2023: My Top 10 Women’s Looks

Here we go, this is my 10 women’s looks from the Met Gala 2023. Just to remind everyone that my opinions are mine alone, so feel free to agree or disagree with me as much as you like. However I will not tolerate any hate personally aimed at me if you disagree with me to the point where you want to start an argument. So let’s keep it respectful, clean (language wise) and more importantly let’s have some fun with this. Like I said, if you’re looking for an argument, then you’re following the wrong fashion blog. 

1. Kim Kardashian wearing Schiaparelli. This was the first look I saw this morning when I switched my phone on and I was blown away by it. I honestly didn’t know what to expect from Kim after her look from last year that got a lot of people talking. So I was pleasantly surprised to see her in an original design that shows off her body in all the right places and I love the draped pearls across her breasts (which are actually covered by a nude bra). Overall it was another Met Gala and another show stopping moment from Kim Kardashian.

2. Doja Cat wearing Oscar De La Renta In comparison to Jared Leto, Doja Cat understood the theme and took it to a whole other level that was both unexpected but not at the same time. I loved the use of prosthetics that complimented her simple yet stunning crystallised gown. Plus who doesn’t love a gown with a hood that has cat ears coming out the top that makes you look like a fashionista rather than someone attending a Halloween party?

3. Gigi Hadid wearing Givenchy I’m a sucker for a black gown that comes not just with a corset but a lot of tulle draped perfectly in all the right places as well. Gigi just looked stunning in this and considering a lot of attendee’s were also wearing either black or white, her Givenchy gown stood out when I was scrolling endlessly through all the looks earlier today. Simple, yet perfect sums up her look that I couldn't not add to my top 10 favourites. 4. Cardi B wearing Chenpeng Studio  I just loved the edgy yet alternative bridal look that also incorporated a masculine energy through the shirt and tie design blended with a corset that still made the overall gown look and feel feminine as well as beautiful. I’m not a fan of Cardi B as a rapper but like Kim Kardashian her Met Gala looks have never disappointed and I think this look was one of her best yet. 

5. Devon Aoki wearing Jeremy Scott Even though it’s yet another black & white gown, I just love the cartoon styled wings on the bust line of the corset. To me it made this gown stand out in the sea on monochrome that plagued the Met Gala 2023. Without that unique design, this gown would’ve gone unnoticed and it would’ve easily become another gown that was worn to the wrong event.

6. Florence Pugh in Valentino Florence has been killing it with her red carpet looks in the last 18 months or so, so it was no surprise that she would turn heads at the Met Gala. Whilst I'm not a fan of Valentino since Pierpaolo Piccioli took over as creative designer when Maria Grazi Chiuri left for Dior back in 2016, I can’t help but love this look. A simple white gown paired with a huge feather crown just looked stunning on Florence and it’s another reason why we love seeing show stopping numbers like this one.

7. Glenn Close wearing Erdem Moralıoğlu Similar to Florence Pugh’s look, Glenn Close just looked phenomenal in her Erdem Moralıoğlu design. Once again it was simple yet stunning and I loved the colour on her. It suited her to a tee and what better way to pair a simple gown that with a huge pale blue cape and the sparkliest jewellery of the night. It just goes to show that anyone of any age and can look amazing when dressed perfectly for the Met Gala.

8. Liu Wen wearing Tory Burch I just love how simple the gown is yet at the bottom it’s filled with white flowers that make the Tory Burch gown stand out amongst hundreds of Met Gala looks. The whole look screams red carpet but it’s also the ideal gown for a bride who doesn’t want to wear white to her wedding. Liu Wen just looked stunning in it and it’s why her look has made it into my top 10. 

9. Salma Hayek wearing Gucci I just love that it wasn’t black or white and the sharpness of the red looked phenomenal on Salma both in the PVC corset and the long tiered skirt. Plus the subtle draping of the pearls as straps just topped the look off altogether. Once again I loved everything about it and I can’t fault it at all. It was perfect.  10. Tems wearing Robert Wun This gown was a standout for all the right reasons. Tems looked absolutely gorgeous from head to toe and I love how all the feathers are perfectly placed on both the gown, the gloves and the headpiece from stepping over that line from haute couture into a costume. The shape of the gown also compliments her body to her a tee and I couldn’t think of anything better that Tem’s could’ve worn to the Met Gala.  So this concludes my top 10 looks from the Met Gala 2023. I have to say picking this list was hard because there were so many another amazing designs worn last night, however these 10 stand out to me the most. Your job for the band was to help run the soundchecks and sell the band's merch and of course, get big tips from some of the fans.

You loved Eddie for so many reasons and him being a rockstar was just a small part of it. When he was onstage you loved to see his energy as a frontman and lead guitarist.

Most tour dinners were nothing special mainly fast food or easy and fast microwaveable food from the local grocery stores. Sometimes though Eddie took you out to dinner and it was romantic.

Eventually, you and Eddie decided to get matching tattoos of a coffin and his band's logo on your right shoulders.

He may have had a bad boy image to the rest of the world but he was more than a rockstar to you and you understood him completely and he loved how down-to-earth you were.

In the recording studio, it was quite the experience especially when he laid down the vocals. He even had you do guest vocals on the album by recording your moans as he fingered and fucked you.

Most of the time you get a chill and relaxed day off just to go do something fun like paintball, play some Dungeons & dragons, go hiking in abandoned places, go to the roller skating rink or the arcade.

Most days after the shows he takes you to the local bar or strip club/burlesque club and tip the dancers very well, have a few drinks, and bring a girl or two back to the bus.

Dustin and the rest of his gang including Will and Eleven go to the local shows and ones that are all ages of course to see Corroded Coffin and Eddie even gives them a special shoutout and side stage access/VIP treatment.

For a while, he had been thinking about getting another guitarist and he decided to hire you. The gift that he presented when you were going to get asked to be in his band was a Fender electric guitar that was purple. He had been teaching you for a while and giving you lessons and would teach you more.

What you saw as most fitting for his next birthday would be a new electric guitar and you got one for him custom-made with his initials and it was blue. He of course loved it and told you it was the best present anyone had ever gotten him.

For his first big band photoshoot, he made sure you went with him and he posed with you scantily clad but very tasteful. You both had your guitars and posed together.

Once Corroded Coffin had made it big you and Eddie got a place of your own. For so long he wanted to be able to move out of the trailer park so he did and you got a nice place that was decorated with so many rock n roll posters, a King sized bed, silk and satin sheets, and curtains/drapery, a music room, a sex room, and even a small custom recording studio.

The new place was missing something and you decided you wanted to get a pet to adopt so you sat Eddie down and talked it over and it wasn't difficult to convince him to get one. Later that week you went to a cat and dog rescue shelter and found the cutest cat that was a tabby.

When you were on tour either Steve and Robin or Dustin would take care of the cat and you and Eddie made sure to bring home lots of toys when you got back.

Once Eddie's band got their big break and finally played a bigger venue and as headliner, he decided to propose to you onstage.

After being newly engaged to Eddie he had a chance to be in a music documentary and brought you along with him for being his biggest muse.

Being with Eddie and in a touring band was what was the best thing for you now and whatever came next you would be ready for it.

Finally completed the outfit reference for Jayna Stiles, a half-elven NPC follower from Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura.

Outfit breakdown (or "outfit onions" as I like to call them lol~)

I really like Jayna Stiles and her backstory + goals of becoming a technological healer. I'm also a sucker for 19th-century fashion and I have an unhealthily large collection of reference books and a bunch of files saved from online museum collections (I've got about 22+ gigabytes of refs downloaded from the Library of Congress alone haha I need more hobbies).

Back on track, I really just wanted to design Jayna an outfit that suited her character more than her in-game sprites while also being practical for travel/adventuring.

More unrestrained detailed design ramblings below the cut~

Individual layers. I pulled most of her colors from her default outfit.

Since Arcanum's starting year is 1885, I usually picture the "modern" sense of fashion in big cities like Tarant and Caladon taking cues from real life 1885-1890s western fashions (to give myself some leeway with references). Smaller towns can be a bit more dated, but I try not to go back further than the 1870s in most cases.

However, for a character like Jayna, who hails from Dernholm, I gave her clothing from references dating back to the 1850-1860s. I did this because Jayna says in her recruitment dialogue that "[her] parents weren't wealthy people, and [she doesn't] make much money here in Dernholm," so I took this to mean that she likely wears clothing to last, wearing hand-me-downs, makes her own clothes, and mending it over the years rather than buying new clothes.

Given that Dernholm (+ the Kingdom of Cumbria in general) isn't in the best state when the game starts, they may be behind the times and the latest fashions take longer to reach Dernholm.

Gar: “Alas, poor Dernholm! Once home to the legendary Dragon Knights, it has fallen on hard times since Praetor became king some 60 odd years ago. He despises all technology, and I think he's recently become sour on magick as well.”

Herkemer Oggdoddler: “For two generations Cumbria languished as an economically abused and technologically impaired backwater in the shadow of Tarant. Its once fine capital, Dernholm, has become a ruin.”

Layer 1 - Chemise + Open Drawers. I deliberately drew the drawers as fairly loose so as to not expose her without having to redraw the pose or resort to "Barbie doll anatomy."

Various resources demonstrated the chemise being tucked into the drawers or worn fully untucked/loose, but I drew it as tucked-in for the sake of reference visibility, so perhaps either one works in practice.

Layer 2 - Corset + Socks/Stockings. I picked a more "contemporary" (1880s) design for the corset as I imagine it would be a more custom-fitted garment. Plus, anyone who has ever worn bras will attest that a bra that properly fits is comparable to a good pair of shoes: never cheap out on it because if you take care of it, it will take care of you. Perhaps that same logic can be applied to corsets in ye olden days and historically-inspired fantasy settings.

For Jayna, despite the simplistic design, it might be one of the few luxuries she can afford for herself given the necessity of the garment for bust support.

Layer 3 - Trousers + Shoes. I was inspired by vivandières and Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, who typically wore trousers beneath their skirts. Dr. Walker was a "surgeon, women’s rights advocate, abolitionist, and spy, [and] the first female U.S. Army surgeon during the Civil War." Since Jayna is an aspiring technological healer, I feel like an allusion to Dr. Walker and her practicality was appropriate.

Layer 4 - Petticoat. It's just something to fill out the skirt volume a tad. I considered adding a corset cover in this layer but I did like having the upper outline of the corset somewhat visible in the shirtwaist layer to illustrate her living situation (aka she doesn't have one or just has a poor-quality one). As a modern-age woman, I think this this all already looks like a laundering nightmare to wash by hand.

Layer 5 - Shirtwaist + Outer Skirt. I really like the shape of the 1860s Garibaldi blouse's sleeves (I think these are bishop sleeves? correct me if I'm wrong...) and the stripes allude to some 19th century nurse uniforms. I initially went for a plaid pattern but that was a pain to draw and using a pre-existing plaid brush/pattern just didn't look as good as I wanted it to be.

Layer 6 - Sash + Pistol Holster + Bag. Given Jayna's goals of becoming a tech healer, I took design cues from vivandières, who were 19th-century women attached to military regiments, with a few known vivandières being nurses (like Anna Etheridge).

However, rather than lifting the vivandière look completely, I imagine Jayna would attempt to replicate the silhouette with her own clothes. The bag is a bit of an amalgamation of various 18th-19th century hunting/frontier bags, so I apologize that I don't have a direct reference image.

Of course, in the end, I did take some liberties with the outfit so it's not completely historically-accurate, but that's okay since Arcanum is a fictional universe.

I guess I should've prefaced that I'm no expert on historical fashion, just a casual enthusiast who thinks "ooh old dress is pretty!"

I just wanted to see how far I could go before I had to make some concessions, such as:

Jayna's hair is short and worn loose while irl Victorian women typically had long hair and wore them up (there were documented exceptions of course). Many portraits for both female player characters and female NPCs across all in-game races show short hair and loose long hair, so let's just assume that 19th-century Arcanum has more relaxed feminine hair standards compared to the real-life 19th century western world. Also, irl 19th-century rural women did sell their hair for money, so maybe there's something to apply to the world of Arcanum with that. Or maybe the short-hair craze just hit Arcanum a few decades early *shrug*.

I initially planned to give her gloves, but many resources show vivandières not really wearing them, preferring to go barehanded.

The clothing colors may be a bit too saturated for the era I took inspiration from, but I wanted to stay somewhat faithful to Jayna's original sprite colors.

I did simplify some garments down for the sake of me having to draw enough layers as it is lol. Sorry if the lace wasn't fancy enough or that she doesn't have headwear. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Sometimes you just wanna finish a project and be done with it.

Summary: Wren is the lead singer of a band who happens to serenade Alessia leading to a fun night between the two.

Chapter 1

Wren was her family’s biggest disappointment, she was meant to go to Oxford University but refused to go. Instead she and her band, Highland Nightfall, worked hard on their music, they were selling out smaller venues after a year of hard work and their album rocketed to number 1 on the alternative charts. Wren was the lead singer and she also played guitar, it was a given that she was the most popular member of the band. Wren had long brown hair with blonde highlights, she had bright green eyes that had speckles of blue scattered and a large sleeve tattoo on her right arm that had intricate designs of geometric animals, plants and some text  scattered through. Girls at shows would throw bras on stage especially when Wren would wear their favourite outfit combination, backwards cap, tank top with an open short sleeve button up shirt, skinny jeans and converse. 

She had come back to the UK after a tour in the US, her first show was in Manchester to a sold out crowd of 10,000. “Good evening everyone. We are Highland Nightfall, it’s so lovely to be back in England we have missed home so much. We thought we’d play a few songs for you if that would be alright?” The crowd screamed loud as the first song started. In the crowd were some of the Manchester United women’s players who  had taken the night to go enjoy one of the best British acts going around. Alessia was particularly interested more in the lead singer rather than the music itself. She had studied Wren’s setlist making sure she knew the words, during the show the players videoed each other singing along. 

Wren could hear the crowd singing back to her, she glanced up and saw a gorgeous group of girls all singing along to her song. She smirked as she continued singing, in a small break Wren spoke to her stage manager about getting the blonde from the upper seating to come down so she could sing to her. Her stage manager Claire immediately headed towards the United group who were clearly having an amazing time. Alessia followed Claire down to the stage nervously, when Claire requested her to come down to the stage she was shocked but couldn’t resist. A chair was placed in the middle of the stage and Wren walked over to the side where Alessia was standing. “Hi, nice to meet you my name is Wren.” She held out the game and the blonde shook it. “Hi I am Alessia.” Wren smirked. “I know. You play for United I’m not the smartest person in the world but I know football.” Alessia blushed at the girl’s words. “So I brought you down because it seemed you knew the words to my songs, which is exactly what I need for my next little bit. I am going to have you sit in the chair and I will sing to you. Two taps on the side of my thigh if it is too much or you want to stop, you are in control okay?” Alessia just nodded. “Alrighty beautiful lets get this going.” Wren grabbed Alessia’s hand and led her out to the stage. 

“A lot of you know this next part of my show. Those edits on TikTok are phenomenal. I have with me the gorgeous Alessia Russo, if you have been living under a rock she is a striker for Manchester United.” The crowd roared at the mention of the player and the football team. “Yeah, yeah bloody Manchester United, got nothing on the mighty Arsenal.” The crowd booed and she gave them the finger with a smirk. Wren sat Alessia down and winked at her. “Now Alessia, you and I are going to have a little fun, clothes on princess don’t worry.” 

The music started and Wren stood behind Alessia, sliding her hand down the blonde’s arm as she sang in her ear. “Well, come and get it now. Come and get it now” She walked to the front of Alessia and bent over, her hand on her leg holding her up keeping eye contact with the girl. Alessia could feel her heart racing, knowing exactly where this song was leading. 

“Baby, show me what you're doing. Come and turn around.” Wren spread Alessia’s jean clad legs and dropped to her knees right in front of her. 

'Cause it's not just a figure of speech. You got me down on my knees. It's getting harder to breathe out.” Alessia’s breath caught in her throat looking at the green eyes now between her legs. She couldn’t glance up at the United girls but she knew that there would be many videos of this moment and them laughing about the situation she had found herself in.

Alessia held back a moan as Wren stood up and straddled the striker’s lap, her hands immediately placing themselves on the singer’s thighs. 

“We only met each other just the other day. But you already got me feeling some type of way. Now, if I could figure it out. I'd take you back to my house. So we could meddle about.” Wren smirked at Alessia who bit her lip holding Wren onto her lap. 

“We could meddle about. Whoa-oh-oh-oh. We could meddle about. No, whoa-oh-oh-oh-ooh. We could meddle about. Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh. We could meddle about.” Wren knew that there were other people around but at that moment it felt as though it was just them alone on the stage. Slowly Wren tested the waters with a slow and gentle grind on Alessia’s lap, the striker’s mouth fell open as she moved her hands to Wren’s ass. 

“Girl, just scream it out. Tell me what you're thinking. No, I wanna see you undress now. I wanna hear you confess now, oh-oh, oh, whoa.” Wren leant in so only the microphone was keeping their lips from connecting. Wren swallowed as she stared at Alessia in front of her, staring at her lips wanting so badly to know how they taste. Wren missed her next line, hearing the crowd singing the words. “You are distracting me gorgeous.” Wren said into Alessia’s ear as she turned around so her back was on Alessia’s chest.

So we could meddle about.” Wren grabbed Alessia’s hand and moved it from her chest, down her breast, further down her stomach to her inner thigh. Alessia gripped onto Wren’s thigh and moaned into her ear as the singer leant back further against Alessia so her chin could rest on the brunette’s shoulder. 

It was easily Wren’s favourite performance for more than one reason. Wren made sure to stay pressed against Alessia for the whole song, once she finished and the band was playing the outro she turned to the girl and smirked. “That was hot. Guess that is why they call you guys the red devils.” Wren grabbed Alessia’s hand and led her to the front of the stage. “A massive thank you to Alessia Russo for putting up with me for that song. Tag me in those TikTok edits too, wouldn’t mind reliving that one.” Wren kissed Alessia’s hand as the crowd screamed, she led the blonde off the stage.

“Thank you for that.” Alessia said with a blush painting her cheeks. “No, thank you. That was better than sex.” Wren kept a hold of Alessia’s hand and ran her thumb over her knuckle. “Come to The Ivy after, I will be there with the band and I want to have a little dance with you.” Alessia could only nod watching Wren’s green eyes. Wren took her chance to kiss Alessia’s cheek as Claire came over. “Wren can you please get back on stage, Alessia I will take you back up to the girls.” Wren groaned and nodded. “Fine. See you later gorgeous, this isn’t over yet.” 

Wren rushed off the stage at the end of the show to shower and get ready for The Ivy, and maybe to see a particular blonde who she had unfinished business with. She put on blue skinny jeans, white high top converse, and a black short sleeve button up. Once she entered the club she asked the hostess where the Manchester players were and was shown to a booth where she immediately saw a blonde in black skinny jeans and a white crop top. Wren went up behind the blond and slid her arm around her waist. “Long time no see.” Alessia turned when she heard the voice and smirked. “About time you showed up.” Alessia had already downed two drinks to give herself some liquid courage for when she saw Wren. 

Wren wasted no time in catching up to the level of buzz that Alessia had and pulled her onto the dancefloor. There were people all around them pressing them closer to each other, Wren gripped Alessia’s hips making them move in sync. Alessia wrapped her arms around Wren’s neck. “My god you are so hot.” Alessia said in her ear, making the singer smirk. “Have you ever looked at yourself?” Wren slid her hands lower onto Alessia’s ass making the girl moan. 

They were both beginning to sweat as they danced, grinding against each other unable to stop themselves needing more contact from the other. Wren gave in and pressed her lips against the blonde’s. There was nothing gentle about the kiss, it was desperate and wanting. Their tongues ran along the other, Alessia’s hands gripping onto Wren’s shirt. “Come back to my place?” Wren moaned into Alessia’s mouth and the girl just nodded. Wren grabbed her hand and led her out the back of the club not bothering to tell each of their groups that they were leaving. 

Their make out session continued in the side alley of the club where Alessia was pushed up against the wall, one leg wrapped around Wren and the singer pressing her body against the blonde. Their Uber was a few minutes away which was perfect for Wren to get more of Alessia. The blonde kissed down Wren’s neck and sucked a dark hickey onto her neck. “Fuck Alessia.” Wren gripped onto Alessia tighter, now hungrier for the girl in front of her, she felt her phone buzz as their Uber pulled up. The whole drive to the hotel Wren kissed Alesia a little calmer than what it had been, trying not to piss off the Uber driver with their fun. 

They were clumsy all the way up to Wren’s room, using every hard surface as an opportunity to press one another up against. Wren took off her shirt and shoes easily not letting her lips part from Alessia’s once they got into her room. Alessia’s shirt was removed with ease even if Wren hated having to pull from the blonde. She pushed Alessia onto the bed with a smirk and took her spot on top of her, undoing the striker’s jeans and pulling them down to reveal a pink g-string. “You expecting me or something princess?” Wren smirked and Alessia shoved her gently. “They are just comfy.” Wren took off her jeans to expose her Scooby Doo briefs and Alessia put her hand on the girl above her’s chest. “Um were you expecting me?” Wren looked down and groaned. “Fuck.” Alessia laughed and pulled her back on top of her. “Cute as.” Wren rolled her eyes and kissed the girl again. 

Their bras were the next casualties of their encounter, they were thrown somewhere in the hotel room as Wren began exploring the Italian English girl under her. Her lips kissed down her collarbones, down the valley of her breasts then across to her right nipple where she wrapped her lips around the bud. Alessia let out a loud moan and tangled her fingers into Wren’s hair, the singer slid her hand up Alessia’s inner thighs to gently rub her covered clit. Chapter 2

Some thoughts about Kerry:

Spoilers ahead, needless to say.

1)

I saw a video comparing the two versions if Chippin' In (Kerry's vs. Johnny's) where someone in the comments suggested the reason Kerry leaned more mainstream rock is because he only wanted to make music for money. I completely disagree with this and here's why:

User Friendly was the last song Kerry put out before deciding he wasn't going to perform live/tour anymore and went into a deep depression. Looking up the lyrics, you can see he was becoming very distressed with the lack of control he had over his career, and the things he says in the song sound like a cry for help that wasn't received by listeners the way he had hoped. We never hear his version of the song, and I believe that is intentional. Vapid, loud, chaotic, almost over-stimulating laser-pop is such a huge juxtaposition to the lyrics, and yet it's the only version we get to hear. Clearly User Friendly meant a lot to him or I don't think he would have reacted the way he did; combined with the cover being done by a pop group groomed by the music industry to sell as many albums as possible, it all went against Kerry's original intent with the song. Then there's the story of how he wrote Bleed the Beat: he was working his ass off for people he couldn't stand and that song was his outlet during that time. He'd play until his fingers bled just to get his frustrations out. Music is his medium for release, just like it was for Johnny.

In Johnny's version of Chippin' In, the phrase "chipping in" has two meanings: getting your first implants, and, the same as our universe, helping out. Johnny's song uses both meanings interchangeably during the choruses, the verse before it dictating which definition is being used. Johnny's arm is (from what I can tell looking at the design) military issue. The song is both about the corpo military forcing him to get an implant, and also about believing he was doing the right thing when he joined by "helping out" the armed forces. Since, in this universe, militaries are owned and/or sponsored by corporations, Johnny views corporate jobs and military service to be the same level of morally wrong (The Ballad of Buck Ravers attests to this).

In terms of how the two songs compare, obviously Kerry's version of Chippin' In is meant to have more wide appeal. Not only are the lyrics more tame, mostly just talking about the implants themselves and only having one verse that even mentions anything "political", but I believe Kerry understood that the best way to get his music to the most listeners was to go for a more mainstream sound and universally relatable lyrics, so he toned it down. Everyone hates corpos, sure, but not everyone wants to bomb Araska HQ. This is probably a stretch, but we can see from the flashbacks that Kerry didn't have any implants during his time in Samurai, so maybe Johnny was like super opposed to implants after having one forced upon him, and Kerry's version of the song is kind of saying "hey if you want implants get implants, they make you look cool don't feel bad about it."

2)

I do support the idea that Kerry should have been bisexual like in the source material. I absolutely get that bi erasure is a big problem, ESPECIALLY with male characters. However, I respect that in the game you can only romance him with a masc V; I'm not going to mod him to he bi, I'm not gonna ship him with women. I see it the same way I see Cullen from DAI: he is canonically bisexual, just not attracted to my male Inquisitor (in Kerry's case, fem V). Maybe Kerry had such a traumatic divorce from his ex-wife that women just kinda scare him right now. We can see high heels and bras and blush littering his house, so we can assume that at the very least women are still getting naked for some reason or another at his parties. Maybe he prefers men romantically, or maybe he's just not ready to date women again, and we as players should respect that just like we would a real person.

3)

Kerry was 100% going to kill himself when you show up to his house. There are shards advertising robotic security systems in numerous places around his house (meaning he fired his human body guards), shards with negative reviews of his last album, there is only one camera and it is by the front gate (none inside the house), he gave his cleaner and cook "the day off" that very day, you see in emails that his ex-wife is giving him the option of all or nothing with custody (you take the kids or you don't get to see them), and he isn't enjoying making music anymore, his one passion in life. He had a gun with him in the bathroom, and I believe by the way his speech slurs and he makes the impulsive decision to get Samurai back together, that he is drunk for that entire scene and has a drinking problem. It is my opinion that the reason he doesn't reveal any of that to V is because he knows Johnny will hear it and judge him, call him weak, or make insensitive jokes like he does to V when he gives you the quest. The only time we see Kerry be somewhat vulnerable is 1. Over text when talking about the crazed fan, since he probably thinks Johnny can't see those (I believe he can) and 2. In the epilogue when Johnny has been removed from V's head (Kerry says he doesn't want to lose V, and during the credits he tells V he just wants their lives to be less hectic so they can spend more time together).

4)

It took me a couple playthroughs to warm up to Kerry, Panam is probably still my favorite romance, but I think Kerry might be the best romance option for a Skreetkid V. He perfectly embodies the plights of Night City at every income bracket: no matter where you are on the food chain, if you're not at the top, you're getting fucked over. He clearly likes living in comfort while still embracing his rebellious side from his youth. But now, he has the cushion of money and status to save him if things go tits up (when you get a wanted level in Westbrook district, close to North Oak, the officer on the police scanner says "I swear, if its Eurodyne again" suggesting that he is very reckless but hardly ever faces real consequences). Maybe he stays in his gilded cage because he fears facing real hardship on his own, without friends, without a support group, without Johnny. He has a strong sense of pride, though, and would never admit to needing Johnny, even if they were best friends. The way Kerry wants to show Johnny a riff he's been working on after the concert, only to be disappointed when V takes over again, I think it really shows that as much as they disagreed, their friendship held the band together.

I don't remember if Johnny hints at it or I saw someone suggest this on here, but the idea that Kerry only "dates" V because Johnny is in his head is ridiculous to me. The first time he called you to deal with the Us Cracks tour gear, he wanted Johnny. Every time after that, he wanted V. He definitely realizes which of the two is helping him; he can tell them apart. The Johnny that Kerry remembers wouldn't have done a selfless thing in his life, lest risking his pride and reputation as Night City's biggest fuckboy. Whether you really schmooze him up or tell him he's going overboard, Kerry appreciates that you helped him. And I think after the concert, when he hands V his gun, Kerry's body language suggests that he wasn't planning to give the gun to Johnny, he thought about it because V was back in control. V helped get the band back together, V helped decide if Denny or Henry should play the gig, V was the one who brought Johnny to Kerry's house. Johnny won't take over to do it himself despite probably being able to. I only wish you didn't meet him so late in the main story, so that his story could have more time and space to breathe.

A Primer on Actual (SFW-ish) Male Fanservice

Has this ever happened to you? You're making a social media post or video or whatever about Fire Emblem Heroes, and you point out that a primary feature of the game is its unrelenting torrent of horny-just-verging-on-explicit female character designs: the physics-defying bras, the impossibly-contorted boobs-and-butt poses, upskirts and camel toes galore, strategically-placed rips in damaged art, the odd foot focus here and there, etc.

You're making a good case - not that it's hard, IS is not subtle about any of this - but then someone comes along and leaves a comment to the effect of "but the summer banners have shirtless men! Checkmate, loser."

This post aims to counter that, to demonstrate that genuine male fanservice on par with what FEH does with its female characters looks very, very different and amounts to much more than just muscular guys with their shirts off. To do so, I'm going to have to pull example art from pretty much the only video game subgenre that can be relied upon to deliver here: sexually explicit gay dating sims. We're going to be looking at how these games frame the male body, and what sexualized (partial) male nudity really looks like outside of the aspirational power fantasy lens adopted by most mainstream, straight-male directed media including FEH.

Of course, I'm gay myself, and I can anticipate the rebuttal to this rebuttal - that women, allegedly, do not eroticize the body in the same way as men...unless they're dirty fujoshi in which case their opinions can be immediately discarded. I leave it to any women reading this to have fun unpacking that nonsense.

(It must be noted that, while the games I'm pulling these images from are all explicit, I've gone out of my way to select art that would theoretically fall within what seem to be the content guidelines of FEH: no exposed genitals or bare butts. I'm labeling this post SFW-ish all the same though, so use your discretion when viewing.)

Let's start with something simple and softcore from Coming Out on Top.

This is a variant on a popular mild fanservice image: a guy lifts his shirt, exposing his belly (and possibly stomach hair). In context this is also intended to convey vulnerability, as the character is drunk and struggling to undress. Also noteworthy is that the framing here is explicit with the MC in the shot.

Continuing with the softer stuff, here's one from clicker game Blush Blush.

This game has a bunch of technically SFW options to choose from, but I went with this for two reasons. One, it's an example of how shirtless men can be eroticized without being excessively muscular; two, it's a goofy holiday pic that teases with the strategically-placed candy cane and the allusion to the "Dick in a Box" Saturday Night Live song. The NSFW variation of this image goes full throttle with that idea.

From All Men Are Pigs:

I really wanted to include something from this game as its art style stands out quite a bit in contrast to many of the others here, although unfortunately some of the best examples break the rule. Here in a rare (for these games) non-sexual action pose, the character is performing a ballet routine on a stripper pole in a gay bar: a campy concept that works fairly well in context and that explicitly calls attention to the character as an eroticized object. He is, however, consenting to the in-universe ogling, and as he's elsewhere revealed to have experience with sex work it's understood that he knows the value of showing off his body. Call that something you'd never hear a character express in FEH...except someone like Camilla, perhaps?

Let's get a little spicier with a pair from Full Service.

This may be the tamest of the swimwear outfits seen in the game's beach episode, but I wanted something that would compare to the summer banner designs of FEH's male characters. Even so, note the pose: reclining, legs slightly open, displaying a single nipple. This guy is the biggest bottom in the game's cast and is framed as such, even with the relatively conservative outfit and the sunglasses obscuring his face (which symbolically tie into his internalized biphobia and anxiety about publicly expressing his attraction to men). Further, because this character is a model it may be assumed that the posing is intended to be read as deliberate.

This one comes from the game's costume night set piece, which includes several designs that wouldn't be out of place in some of the more random seasonal banners. I chose this one as a counterpoint to what FEH does with its shirtless men. There's the cocky expression, the crotch bulge with nothing underneath, and the angling which makes it look like he's standing over you. To contrast the beach image, this guy is the total top of the cast, so the musclebound partial nudity is less about being aspirational for the presumed viewer and more about erotic dominance.

For something more fantastical, here's one from the sci-fi title The Symbiant: Re:Union.

This game's main claim to fame is alien tentacle porn, but this scene is intended as a moment of genuine, human(oid) vulnerability for the character, on the night when he reunites with his ex (the MC and viewer here) for the first time in two years. The camera pans up over his entire body, ending on this view in profile with a very large nip slip and the cigarette calling attention to his hand and mouth. As with several others, this image is also deliberate enticement, conveying both the languor of casual hookups and the weight of the characters' history together. (Obviously a mobile gacha doesn't have the space to grant such narrative or thematic significance to its eroticism...but that is part of the point.)

Moving along, here's one from Camp Buddy: Scoutmaster Season. Get ready for the just-shy-of-X-rated.

This one's a character portrait, unlike all the others here which are CGs, so debatably it's more in line with what you'd see in FEH. And...yep. It's a sexy bull costume. "Crotch bulge" doesn't begin to cover it, there's the pubic hair, the pierced nipples, and assorted other bits like the bell and the saddle and the tailed butt plug. Some time ago I showed off a different horny character design from this game and got an anon calling it stupid, so let's talk about that. Is this design technically something someone could wear in real life? Yes; parts of it resemble bondage gear, and the character displays his interest in leather in another scene. Is it impractical and stupid? Quite possibly. Does the subsequent sex scene take full advantage of the costume for some Dom/sub barnyard roleplay? Also yes. This continues my point about designing beefy (heh) muscular guys, and how there's a world of difference between this and, like, Hawkeye or summer Ephraim/Dimitri/whoever.

Incidentally, this character also has an oversized dick to the point of straining disbelief and the MC's insides. If you're looking for the male equivalent of breasts so enormous they can barely be held in by barely-there tops, that would be giant dicks - and there's no way in hell that we'll ever see those in FEH, even in technically SFW bulge form.

Continuing with BLits's games, here's one from the upcoming Jock Studio.

It's a male boobs-and-butt pose, one that doesn't require the character to dislocate his spine! I chose this image because the pose and outfit choice is remarkably similar to that of the notorious Tharja Summer Scramble DLC pic that got censored outside of Japan. Jock Studio actually has a better instance of the same pose with a different character, one where the MC's horny dialogue even calls attention to the ampleness of those two elements; unfortunately, the character has his underwear off there so it's too horny for this post. Much like Tharja with Anna in the DLC, here the character is being surprised by someone walking in while they're changing and making comically lewd remarks about their body. The contextual difference is that, rather than being forced into a swimsuit, the character here is disrobing to film a pornographic scene, and is only surprised by the MC only just now learning that their club makes porn. Hilarity ensues in both cases, but JS's setup is ironically less voyeuristic despite the game's premise.

Finally, let's close things out with one last image from Coming Out on Top. Very borderline, but I've got a distinct point to make with this one.

Like a lot of media, gay dating sims often struggle with eroticized depictions of various types of men, among them fat, hairy, and middle-aged (or older). I believe the oldest human character with a stated age in this post is the bull guy, and he's merely in his 40s. But back to the image above, it takes full advantage of the size and age of the character on the right relative to the MC. His bulk takes up much of the frame, but it's clearly an intimate, protective embrace you'd expect of a bear daddy character. I point this out because larger and/or older male characters are often disregarded outright in FEH, or like Fargus recently they're paradoxically given more fanservice-y designs (Visible nipples and chest hair! In FEH!) presumably because the developers think that no one would look at them that way.

I think that's enough for now. The important thing to remember here is that sexual fanservice is more than simply degrees of nudity. It's about framing, angling, which body parts are emphasized, and when possible the surrounding circumstances and how they inform the character's eroticism. Is it deliberate, is it accidental...

...or is it just there to get you to gamble for your favorites?

Things I wish someone had told me about menstruation:

Menstrual blood isn't more dirty than any other type of blood.

But it's still blood so...protocols.

Salt water is the best thing to presoak anything bloody in.

Designate a set of underwear for periods. It makes life so much easier to have a set of comfy underwear that you don't care about potentially staining.

Bad cramps are normal, but that doesn't make them healthy. All normal means is that it's a common problem. Don't let your doctor blow you off.

Your uterus is actually a very important organ with many functions and getting it removed for non-medical reasons is not a good idea. Your doctor wasn't refusing just to be a natalist asshole.

A tubal ligation will absolutely impact your hormones and period, no matter what the doctors tell you.

Depo provera is the fucking devil.

The average length of a period is 3-5 days. Which means half of all women have a period longer than that. Learn math, genius.

The average length of a menstrual cycle is 27-28 days. Again, yours can be longer or shorter than that. Averages suck.

Do not buy bras the week before or the week of your period unless you're buying them to wear during that time. (I go up a full cup size the week before my period.)

If a man has a problem with your period and claims it's just a problem with blood, then doesn't have an issue with blood from violent shit, don't fucking be with him.

Conversely, some men do just genuinely have an issue with blood. Having the same issue with your period blood does not make him a misogynist.

It's not terribly uncommon to get super horny on your period instead of during ovulation. But you can still get pregnant during your period so be smart.*

Taking iron and magnesium supplements regularly can make your period better. But they're hard on your stomach, so take them right after a meal, trust me.

That New Melia Design

Or How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Rejuvenation Brainrot

So! People are dissecting the new Rejuv 13.5 trailer and I would like to add my bit to the fray on account of I have terminal illness of Melia, she is my all time favorite. And the new design she's got has raised my eyebrows.

And a lot of credit to @tlozypaka-tina bc their post really got me thinking more in depth about this design rather than just thinking it just a new design for the new version.

So first, that new design! Let's take a peek at it!

(Bear with me on the resolution being bad, it's a screenshot of a small part of a YouTube video)

And before we continue, let's just compare all of Melia's previous designs (plus throwing Emma in there for kicks)

Now, something important to note for all of Melia's designs (except for the Terajuma design) is that the primary color on them is white. Her first, fourth, and fifth designs all have white shirts, and her second design in Emma wears a white robe with a white bow. Her previous Terajuma design had her shirt be grey but there was a bit around the collar that was white.

Though it would take more time to say what this symbolism this has for Melia (if any, and this isn't just a motif for character design), we can contrast it to the new design shown off in the trailer, which (despite the monochromatic color filter) we can tell that she's wearing a darker shirt. It almost looks like a darker version of her first outfit given the design of the shirt and the exposed bra/tank top straps. Though of course her hair is too long for it to be a re-do of that design. Not to mention the eye shadow, which is something none of Melia's current designs have. It seems to be the same shade as her shirt too.

Also worth noting is that the expression looks far more smug and self assured than any of the expressions of Melia's other designs. And while on this blog we support girlbosses and women who know how capable they are, this is something worth noting. Going back to tlozypaka-tina's post their friend Vance notes that the expression here is similar to that on Melanie's vs sprite.

So, what's the thesis of this post?

Honestly this is a jokey way of putting it but I think it puts it best, between the smug look (being similar to Melanie's vs sprite) and the darker colors of the design, I think we're getting some kind of evil Melia, for lack of a better term.

EDIT: Everything below this point is based on speculation that happened due to me straight up missing Melia's powered up design. I have no good reason for this, I checked the Chapter 12 folder where it is. But I'm keeping it in the post just bc I don't like deleting stuff.

Now, to get into some baseless speculation here, I can already hear some people going "Hey wait, you forgot Melia's powered up design!".

And I'm glad you noticed dear reader, I sure as hell did. When I was gathering the different Melia designs I snagged them from the DeviantArt stash where Zumi posts all the character designs. I didn't grab powered up Melia because she wasn't there (I grabbed the pic above from the Fandom Wiki).

Now I would normally chalk this up to there being dozens of pieces of art in Rejuv and it's easy to forget to upload one, except for the fact that I swear this used to be there! I could be remembering wrong, or... there could be plans for this design when 13.5 drops that involve a redesign that will only be revealed when it's out. Related to the design of Melia we saw in the trailer? I dunno, but it's worth noting since I found it.

Herry will never purposefully go into sex meaning to be rough and he tries really hard to hold back, since he is aware of his own strength. That being said, when he gets really lost in pleasure, he can lose a little bit of his self-control and things can get quite rough, especially when he’s getting close to his orgasm.

Herry’s one of the last to lose his virginity. Okay, I know this might seem out there, but I feel, what with his inflated ego, high opinion of his own attractiveness, and need for attention that Neil actually would do porn with a partner if they were at all up to it. He’d be completely fine with them not wanting their own face shown and he wouldn’t brag about it, but he definitely enjoys filming them having sex and would throw it up on PornHub.

Neil needs a mixture of both. He can get bored pretty easily sexually.
