you all had been blessed with a whole week off. a whole week that you got to spend with your favorite people in the entire world and not have to worry about being called in.
it had been ages since you had a whole week where you didn’t have to worry about a single work thing bothering you. the last time you had done this, you had convinced your then best friends to take you to their favorite park and have a picnic, go to the movies and even take you to the trader joes to get your favorite snacks. but this week, this week was different. firstly, you were now dating your best friends, and had been told to stay at theirs as long as you wanted to. you hadn’t left except to go to your apartment and grab a suitcase full of clothes. secondly, the case you had just finished drained the hell out of the three of you. a majority of the time was spent curled up on the couch cycling through shows on netflix and amazon prime, everyone taking turns picking a show to watch while eating leftover chinese food and cuddling. but today you were determined to get out of the house.
the local zoo was holding a sale to celebrate the birth of a new baby giraffe, which happened to be some of your favorite animals ever. so naturally, you got three tickets for the three of you last night and made sure you were up before both of your girlfriends to ensure you got your hands on tickets to feed the giraffes. it had been on your bucket list for a long time. ever since you were little, giraffes had intrigued you. they just looked so soft and cuddly. and you wanted to touch one. so, so bad.
which is how you found yourself up at seven in the morning, squeezing yourself out from between the two older women and seaking downstairs, curling up in the armchair that you had claimed to yourself and grabbing your ipad. well, technically it was emily’s but she barely used it so therefore it was yours. you had all your favorite games on it anyway, so it was only fair that you used it more since you liked to play games on the jet. making sure you got to the website bright and early, you went to the page where you needed to buy the giraffe experience tickets and waited patiently until 7:30am hit and the first wave of tickets were sent out into the interwebs. within minutes, you had the three tickets you needed in your email. the next step to buttering up your girlfriends for a day at the zoo was to make breakfast.
you knew exactly what breakfast each of them liked, and had memorized it a few weeks prior for moments like this. emily loved her bacon crispy, her eggs over easy and a marlboro gold by the bay window. jj, on the other hand, loved when you made the pillsbury biscuits with honey and butter, some sort of potato and getting kisses from both you and emily. considering emily usually woke up a little bit before you and jj on a typical day, you decided to start on hers first. you grabbed the box of cigarettes from her purse and put it over by the seat next to the kitchen table, opening the window so the cool dc air would flow through the kitchen as you cooked. sometimes you were tempted to light up a cigarette and see what they were like, but you couldn’t let go of your favorite fruity little flavors. that was another thing you added to your mental list of things to never let emily find out, since you knew she’d give you the look that she gives you whenever you’ve somehow disappointed her.
jj had found out by a total accident a while ago, clocking your antsiness before you even did. you had stepped out for a breath of fresh air, not realizing that jj had followed you until you were mid hit and felt a presence behind you. while she had been disappointed, she knew that the oral fixation couldn’t be stopped if you weren’t chewing on your chewy necklace. you did your best to wear it, but sometimes the need for the nicotine buzz was stronger than your little necklace and you wanted to feel the dopamine. she sat with you outside while you tried to explain the way it made you feel, and she sat there the whole time and listened to you. she made you promise to lower the nicotine level, which you agreed to, but kept forgetting to go down whenever you stopped by the shop.
despite the fear looming over you of disappointing emily, you couldn’t help but realize everything had been so easy with them. from communicating your needs to even just asking for them to sit with you. they made sure you were their number one priority. to this day, you were still scared of waking up in your dingy one bedroom all alone and still single. but now, here you were, slowly moving your stuff into their apartment and preparing to leave most of your old appliances at the local goodwill. it was a pleasant change, knowing you were moving somewhere nice and calm and where people supported your every move. where they wouldn’t yell at you when you forgot to refill the soap, or restock the cheese drawer after a grocery trip.
shaking yourself out of your thoughts, you heard the bedroom door creak open and the padding of emily’s sock feet grew louder as you started smiling.
“you’re up early,” emily beamed at you. “what’re you doing?”
“taking care of my girlfriends.” you shrugged. “cigs are on the table for you next to your window.”
emily narrowed her eyes playfully at you. “you have a plan for today, don’t you?”
“maybe i do, maybe i don’t.” you playfully smiled back at her. “you gotta wait for jayje to wake up.”
“you know, you can be bad at hiding things sometimes.” emily came over to you and wrapped her arms around your waist. “you have the cheesiest grin on your face right now.”
“can i not just make breakfast for my girlfriends when i want to?”
emily placed a peck on your cheek, then captured your lips in a kiss. “you’re a devious little thing, lovey.”
“and you adore me for it.”
“that i do.”
you placed another kiss on emily’s lips before ushering her over to her window, grabbing the sheet pan of biscuits and slipping them into the oven. you relished these small moments with emily, where it was the two of you. you got these moments with jj at night, since emily typically stayed at the office later than you guys did. taking the mornings with just the two of you was something you tried to do more often than not, since you craved quality time with both of them. you loved having time with both of them together, but alone time with each of your girlfriends was something you cherished. you made sure to get emily’s coffee mug filled just the right amount and bought it over to the table, wrapping your arms around her from behind as the smoke flowed from between her lips. you had at least five more minutes before you had to start cooking the bacon and eggs, which meant you could sit with emily and bask in the moment.
before you knew it, jj made her way into the kitchen, smiling widely as she came and wrapped her arms around you as you stood over the pan. your eyes momentarily closed as you leaned back into the blonde, letting her place a few kisses on your neck before turning around and capturing her in a kiss. you smiled at her before turning back to the bacon, making sure that side was crispy as you could get it before flipping it around.
“what’s all this?”
“well… i uh, i had a plan for us today.”
you saw emily struggle to hold back a chuckle out of the corner of your eye.
“can you guys both be ready by nine thirty? no wait, be ready by nine fifteen and in the car by nine thirty because we need to be at the place by nine fifty in order to beat the crowds and get to where we need to be on time for our tickets because our tickets are for eleven.” you paused, looking at your girlfriends. “can you be ready by nine fifteen?”
“i mean, yeah.” jj looked over to emily. “do you know the plan?”
“just that little miss over here woke up before us and i woke up with no blankets on me because in the midst of everything you stole all of them.” emily joked, poking her tongue out at jj.
you started rocking up to the balls of your feet. “so um… there might be a new baby giraffe at the zoo and i might have gotten us tickets because i really really wanted to see the giraffes and they’re my favorites and they were running a sale because of the new baby and--”
jj chuckled. “you are adorable, did you know that?”
“is that a yes?”
“of course it's a yes, bubs.” jj placed a kiss on your cheek. “i’d love to go to the zoo with you.”
“emmy?” you looked over to emily, the new nickname slipping out of your lips with ease. “can you come to the zoo with us? you’ll probably say no which is okay because i can always invite penelope or tara but-”
“why would you think i’d say no?”
negative feelings overflowed your system as you remembered vividly the face that had been pulled when you asked to go to the zoo or do anything you considered fun. you felt yourself slipping into a dissociative state, fingers looking for something to stim on as you worked through your feelings. the harsh words of “why the fuck would you want to go to the zoo?” reverberated through as memories of one of your previous flings flew to the front of your mind. the shame you felt for wanting to enjoy your time together became unbearable and overwhelming, making you realize that your girlfriends could become annoyed with you like that and change their minds. what if they thought you were childish? what if they figured out you were too much for them?
emily looked over to jj. “did i say something?”
“i don’t know. i don’t think so?” jj looked over to you, your eyes glazed over. “um.. shit wait, okay, i think they’re having an rsd episode, i’ll get their work bag. the marble fidget they use to calm down is in there.”
emily scooted out from behind the table as she put her cigarette out, sneaking behind you to grab the pan off the stove before the bacon burned. she put her arms around you and pulled you close, running her hand up and down your back lightly as she waited for you to come out of your funk. she locked eyes with jj as she came back into the room, digging through the bag for the fidget toy in question, sticking it in your hands before you could start scratching at the side of your nails. a few minutes passed before you came back, the feeling of both emily and jj’s arms around you grounding you in the present, pushing the negative feelings to the back of your mind.
“‘m sorry.”
“it's okay, lovey. do you want to talk about it?”
“um… can you just… i’m not too much, right?”
emily pulled back. “what makes you think that?”
“whenever i asked about doing things that i liked, nobody really wanted to do them.” you looked down shamefully. “i shouldn’t have presumed you’d want to go with me.”
“y/n y/l/n” blue eyes looked into your own. “you don't need to hide yourself with us. never hide yourself with us. you’re allowed to have your likes and act on them.”
“but-”
“ah ah,” jj tilted your chin up, making you look at her. “don’t you dare.”
it was almost as if a switch had been flipped in jj, her eyes darkening slightly as she stared at you. it caused your legs to turn to jelly, rendering you practically useless in your girlfriend's arms. you weren’t entirely sure what was happening, but it sent a wave of excitement through your veins.
“we’re going to the zoo with you, we’re going to have fun, and we’re going to have a good day.” jj shot emily a ‘we need to talk about this’ glance before continuing. “go get dressed and ready for the day, we’ll finish our breakfasts and go enjoy the zoo.” she gave you a pointed look. “capeesh?”
all you could do was nod, your eyes widening in… whatever this feeling was that you were feeling.
“words, y/n.”
“y-yes.” you swallowed. “okay.”
jj smiled, switching back to her normal self and placing a kiss on your lips. “thank you for breakfast, by the way. it smells delicious.”
you shyly smiled back. “i wanted you to be in a good mood before i asked you to go to the zoo.”
emily pulled you in for a hug. “you never have to do anything for us to be in a good mood around you. we-” she paused. “there’s nothing you could do to put us in a foul mood.”
“are you sure?”
“we’re sure. now go get ready, lovey, we’ll be up in a little bit when we finish our breakfast.” it was emily’s turn to kiss you. “don’t forget your meds.”
“oh shit, my meds!”
emily and jj watched you run out of the room, both of the older women chuckling. emily wrapped her arms around jj, placing her head on her shoulder.
“we’re going to need to work on talking about feelings, huh?”
jj nodded. “it seems like it.”
“would it be too much to castrate the exes who hurt them?”
“uh… yes? we’re not castrating anyone.” jj lightly slapped emily’s arm. “go finish your bacon, we have places to be.”
“we do need to have a serious talk with them about it, at some point.”
“yeah,” jj agreed. “lets just… they need to know we’re here for them. let’s focus on them the rest of the week and go from there.”
emily nodded. “we’ll go from there.”

There are many web hosting companies to choose from if you're taking the plunge into making your own website with a comic content management system (CMS) like ComicControl or Grawlix, a Wordpress comic theme like Toocheke or ComicPress, or a HTML template to cut/paste code like Rarebit. While these solutions are generally free, finding a home for them is... generally not. It can be hard to choose what's best for your webcomic AND your budget!
We took a look at a few of the top hosting services used by webcomics creators using webcomic CMSes, and we put out a poll to ask your feedback about your hosts!
This post may be updated as time goes on as new services enter the hosting arena, or other important updates come to light.
Questions:
💻 I can get a free account with Wix/Squarespace/Carrd, could I just use those for my comic? - Web hosts like this may have gallery functions that could be adapted to display a series of pages, but they are very basic and not intended for webcomics.
📚 Wait, I host on Webtoon, Tapas, Comic Fury, or some other comic website, why are they not here? - Those are comic platforms! We'll get into those in a future post!
🕵️♀️Why does it say "shared hosting"? Who am I sharing with? - "Shared hosting" refers to sharing the server space with other customers. They will not have access to your files or anything, so it is perfectly fine to use for most comic CMSes. You may experience slowing if there is too much activity on a server, so if you're planning to host large files or more than 10 comics, you may want to upgrade to a more robust plan in the future.
Web Host List
Neocities
Basic plan pricing: Free or $5/month. Free plan has more restrictions (1 GB space, no custom domain, and slower bandwidth, among other things)
Notes: Neocities does not have database support for paid or free accounts, and most comic CMS solutions require this (ComicCtrl, Grawlix, Wordpress). You will need to work with HTML/CSS files directly to make a website and post each page.
Hostinger
Basic plan pricing: $11.99/month or $7.99/month with four year commitment (monthly, 1, 2, and 4 year plans available).
Notes: Free domain for the 1st year. Free SSL Certifications. Weekly backups.
KnownHost
Basic plan pricing: $8.95/month or $7.99/month with four year commitment (monthly, 1, 2, and 4 year plans available).
Notes: Free DDOS protection. Free SSL Certifications.
InMotion Hosting
Basic plan pricing: $12.99/month or $9.99/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, and 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free SSL Certifications, free domain names for 1 and 3 year plans. 24/7 live customer service and 90-day money-back guarantee. Inmotion also advertises eco-friendly policies: We are the first-ever Green Data Center in Los Angeles. We cut cooling costs by nearly 70 percent and reduce our carbon output by more than 2,000 tons per year.
Reviews:
👍“I can't remember it ever going down.”
👍“InMotion has a pretty extensive library full of various guides on setting up and managing websites, servers, domains, etc. Customer service is also fairly quick on responding to inquiries.” 👎“I wish it was a bit faster with loading pages.”
Ionos Hosting
Basic plan pricing: $8/month or $6/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 2 and 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free domain for the first year, free SSL Certification, Daily backup and recovery is included. Site Scan and Repair is free for the first 30 days and then is $6/month.
Reviews:
👍“Very fast and simple” 👎“Customer service is mediocre and I can't upload large files”
Bluehost
Basic plan pricing: $15.99/month or $4.95/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free domain and SSL certificates (for first year only). 24/7 Customer Service. Built to handle higher traffic websites. Although they specialize in Wordpress websites and provide updates automatically, that's almost a bad thing for webcomic plugins because they will often break your site. Their cloud hosting services are currently in early access with not much additional information available.
Reviews:
👎"The fees keep going up. Like I could drop $100 to cover a whole year, but now I'm paying nearly $100 for just three months. It's really upsetting."
👎"I have previously used Bluehost’s Wordpress hosting service and have had negative experiences with the service, so please consider with a grain of salt. I can confirm at least that their 24/7 customer service was great, although needed FAR too often."
Dreamhost
Basic plan pricing: $7.99/month or $5.99/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free SSL Certificates, 24/7 support with all plans, 97-day moneyback guarantee. Not recommended for ComicCtrl CMS
Reviews:
👍“They've automatically patched 2 security holes I created/allowed by mistake.” 👍“Prices are very reasonable” 👎 “back end kind of annoying to use” 👎 “wordpress has some issues” 👎 “it's not as customizable as some might want“
GoDaddy
Basic plan pricing: $11.99/month or $9.99/month with three year commitment (monthly, 1, 2, and 3 year plans available).
Notes: Free 24/7 Customer service with all plans, Free SSL Certificates for 1 year, free domain and site migration.
Reviews:
👍Reasonable intro prices for their Economy hosting, which has 25GB of storage 👍Migrated email hosting service from cPanel to Microsoft Office, which has greater support but may not be useful for most webcomic creators. 👎 Many site issues and then being upsold during customer service attempts. 👎 Server quality found lacking in reviews 👎 Marketing scandals in the past with a reputation for making ads in poor taste. Have been attempting to clean up that image in recent years. 👎 “GoDaddy is the McDonald's of web hosting. Maybe the Wal-Mart of hosting would be better. If your website was an object you would need a shelf to put it on. You go to Wal-Mart and buy a shelf. It's not great. It's not fancy. It can only hold that one thing. And if we're being honest - if the shelf broke and your website died it wouldn't be the end of the world. The issue comes when you don't realize GoDaddy is the Wal-Mart of hosting. You go and try to do things you could do with a quality shelf. Like, move it. Or add more things to it.” MyWorkAccountThisIs on Reddit*
Things to consider for any host:
💸 Introductory/promotional pricing - Many hosting companies offer free or inexpensive deals to get you in the door, and then raise the cost for these features after the first year or when you renew. The prices in this post are the base prices that you can expect to pay after the promotional prices end, but may get outdated, so you are encouraged to do your own research as well.
💻 Wordpress hosting - Many of the companies below will have a separate offering for Wordpress-optimized hosting that will keep you updated with the latest Wordpress releases. This is usually not necessary for webcomic creators, and can be the source of many site-breaking headaches when comic plugins have not caught up to the latest Wordpress releases.
Any basic hosting plan on this list will be fine with Wordpress, but expect to stop or revert Wordpress versions if you go with this as your CMS.
🤝 You don't have to go it alone - While free hosts may be more limited, paid hosting on a web server will generally allow you to create different subdomains, or attach additional purchased domains to any folders you make. If you have other comic-making friends you know and trust, you can share your server space and split the cost!
Want to share your experience?
Feel free to contribute your hosting pros, cons, and quirks on our survey! We will be updating our list periodically with your feedback!

who’s excited for stats so far?? i bet none of you are but i’m inflicting them anyway! ...under a cut.
so far, though, we have 198 separate submissions across 166 works!
so far the longest submission piece is 551 words long! wow! there are also another 3 submissions that are over 300 words long, and one piece has 797 words across 7 submissions! the shortest submission, to contrast, is 5 words long! that’s also great!
there are currently 4 artists that have had 3 pieces of art each submitted, and 8 artists that have had 2 pieces. that means there’s currently 137 other artists! oh sorry, while i was drafting this post we got a fourth submission for one of the four.
how about things anyone can go look at? there are currently 7 pieces of public art that have been submitted! four of them are from canada (and 3 are from the calgary specifically), one is in the netherlands, one is in spain, and one is in new york. the fourth canadian one also has copies in spain, japan, and arkansas. there are also 3 submitted buildings! two are in spain, and one is in thailand!
gender! we’ve got 122 pieces from male artists, and 32 pieces by female artists! yes that doesn’t add up to 166, the other 12 are either multiple artists, unknown artists, or i felt like a creeper trying to trawl through their tumblr/website and it wasn’t in their bio. sadly, we don’t have any openly trans, nb, or otherwise genderqueer artists submitted (where openly is “i could find it in the same 5 second google search to determine nationalities”)
even more niche stats! the largest submission (that isn’t a building, a cave, or public art) is 2.15 m (7 ft 1 in) x 34.14 m (112.0 ft) and weighs 4 tons! close behind it is another that's approximately 3.7m x 25.2m (12ft x 72.9ft) but weighs significantly less! i did not feel like mathing which had more square footage. the smallest submission (that is, a physical piece in real life, digital art can be insanely small) is 5.9 x 6 cm (2 5/16 x 2 3/8 in.)!
how about locations? excluding the multiple copies ones, there are 32 pieces located in the united states, 9 in spain, 8 in france, 6 in canada, 5 in england, 4 in italy, 3 each in russia, australia and mexico, 2 each in the netherlands, wales, scotland, and ireland, and 1 each in israel, finland, germany, portugal, poland, japan, austria, ecuador, thailand, latvia, singapore, belgium, and argentina! i know that doesn’t add up but there’s a lot of pieces in private collections, owned by the artist, or we just couldn’t find their location, sadly.
artist nationalities get a lot more variable! i did my best to look up every artist i could and include their birth country and the country they did their works in! except john singer sargent because he just didn’t want to settle down and i didn’t want to give him like six different countries.
starting off, we have 43 submissions by american artists! 18 by french artists, 17 by english, 8 each by canadians and italians, 6 each by russians and spaniards, 5 each by chinese, irish, and germans, 4 each by dutch, mexican and belgians, 3 by latvians, 2 each by finnish, polish, scottish, malay, serbian, and armenians, and 1 each by portuguese, japanese, austrian, ecuadorian, thai, swiss, argentine, cuban, kazhak, colombian, danish, and iranian!
i do not currently have stats for jewish artists for you, because i forgot to write it down my first time through wiki, and now i have to go through all ~140 articles and websites again. relatedly: there are 8 works by known-to-be-gay artists, but i’m already running into wikipedia going “well he sure did a lot of male nudes but he also might have had relationships with women” and i am feeling uncomfortable poking through people’s private lives so... i hope you don’t mind it i stop... counting..... i mean if they’re open about it i’ll write it down still.
how about the ages of works? there are 4 things from before the 1400s, 3 from the 1400s, 6 from the 1500s, 3 from the 1600s, and 2 from the 1700s! 5 from 1800-1850, 4 from 1850-1880, 10 from the 1880s, and 9 from the 1890s! 9 from the 1900s (that is, 1900-1909), 5 from the 1910s, 5 from the 1920s, 4 from the 1930s, 4 from the 1940s, and 6 from the 1950s! 3 from the 60s, 4 from the 70s, 7 from the 80s, 15 from the 90s, 12 from the new oughts, 17 from the 2010s, and 13 from the 2020s! and three ongoing projects!
and to wrap things up: there are 101 paintings, 12 sculptures, 17 what i’m calling installations (they’re often mixed media or unusual media, i would give examples but i feel like i would bias submissions), 6 photographs, 2 pieces of textile art, and 21 digital arts, drawings, or comics!

** In this context, the word 'heel'is used in pro wrestling which means a wrestler who portrays a villain or "bad guy" and acts as an antagonist to the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters.

Ya know, I thought being a Faction Paradox fan meant it could be hard to find books.
But the things I'm finding while looking up Arsène Lupin books? Which are public domain, with some very rare, very expensive first editions from 1908-onward still floating around?
hoooooooo boy, some of the literal scams I've come across...
... First, there's this monstrosity.
first, you know something is up already when you see the cover:
(functional ID: ) The book itself is yellow, and the entire "cover" is just a medium-sized, plain white rectangle with plain text that reads "Arsene Lupin Versus Herlock Sholmes (1910)". The only bit of color outside the yellow background is a tiny rectangle at the bottom of the white section, that has a simple red rose in it, and at the bottom on the yellow portion, it says Maurice Leblanc and Georgie Morehead; they are the author and english translators respectively.
Not only is this cover incredibly ugly and boring....
They didn't even put the accent on the è in Arsène !
Now, granted, I still don't know the key-combination needed to type out the è (on a regular keyboard, that is; mobile is much easier), but I also literally have a pinned tab leading to the Arsène Lupin wiki so I can literally just copy and paste his name whenever I need to, lol. I'm also not a supposedly wide-spread, professionnel publisher who specializes in reprinting rare books....
speaking of reprints!
This is their reprinting statement in the book.
[ID: plain text on a white background that reads: "Printing Statement: Due to the very old age and scarcity of this book, many of the pages may be hard to read due to the blurring of the original text, possible missing pages, missing text, dark backgrounds and other issues beyond our control. Because this is such an important and rare work, we believe it is best to reproduce this book regardless of its original condition. Thank you for your understanding. end ID]
Now, all this wouldn't be so monstrous.......
Except this is what it looks like, reading the book.
[ID: A photo of the inside of the book, showing an unnumbered page which is mostly blank, with extremely large margins around the top, bottom, and sides of the relatively tiny "inner page" of text, which is originally labeled as page 171.
So, on top of admitting they have having zero quality control for their reprints, they're also not even selecting the correct page or printer size for their "rare reprints!" Literally so much paper is being wasted here.
"Arsène Lupin vs. Herlock Sholmes" is 350 pages long in its original 1910 First Edition. That's with text that actually filled up the original page. If they'd at least chosen a smaller page size to fit their clear PDF-print, it would have been fine....ish.
But they didn't, so now this book is 350 pages long, and probably wasting half of those pages on pure blank paper.
Also, they're charging $30-$40 for these, "brand-new" on Amazon; going to their publishing website just leads any search to a generic Amazon page, full of the same extremely blatant ripoffs, including "leather hardcovers" from a print of demand location they can't even be bothered to not use a stock photo that requires them to blur out three different titles on the spine for each different angle.
Oh, and the real kicker?
Here's the exact Archive.org listing they're scraping to reprint for exorbitant amounts of money:
Literally down to the exact title, without an accent.
And this isn't the worst one I've found, either; another "public domain scraper" as I've taken to calling them, has taken this book:
and downloaded the ancient, autogenerated Epub from the Internet Archive, and without any human being looking at that Epub, converted it into a PDF and sent it off to a Print-On-Demand company to make those same generic, leather-bound hardcovers for $30+.
Would you like to know what the ancient, auto-generated epub looks like for this very old, very old scan of a book looks like? The one these scammers are reprinting and selling for an arm and a leg without anyone actually looking at the contents of what they're selling?
As a reference, this is what the original, old scan looks like:
[ID: a black and white image of two pages of text from an old book, the text is cramped, slightly blurry and tilted, and is difficult to read; the scan is from an old enough time that, from the shape of the pages not being physically joined together, that the book had to be manually cut page by page to be scanned. There are artifacts, dots and smudges throughout. end ID]
So, you ready to see what these scammers are selling to paying customers with no warning?
[ID: A screenshot of the Calibre ereader app, showing a page from the auto-generated epub from the old scan described above, showing a message in bold across that top that reads "The text on this page is estimated to be only 39.04% accurate." followed by a paragraph of complete gibberish; numbers, symbols, sanskrit letters, various special characters, etc, with no rhyme or reason. End ID.]
I don't know if this scam listing is still out there, I reported the one I found on Abe books, but they're also probably out there with a million duplicate listings on various websites.
So, yeah. Please,
If you are looking for physical copies of the Public Domain Arsène Lupin books, please make sure you carefully check what you are buying before ordering, especially online.
Make sure the 'è' in Arsène has the accent; make sure there's actual quality control, and for Arsène's sake, make sure what you're buying isn't slapdash gibberish.
If you don't know already, most of the Public Domain books that are in English and are PD in the USA can be found on Project Gutenberg (18-19 are PD in the USA this year if you include the play and its subsequent novelization; Gutenberg has 16 of these (including the play) , and you can read them completely for free, 100% legally:
I highly reccomend having the wiki page for Arsène Lupin opened up as you're reading through the books for the first time, because many of the books released at various times (and in various languages) with multiple different titles, so no two reading guides use the same title and leads to sheer confusion.
https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/author/1358
if you speak French, you can also read all of Maurice Leblanc's Arsène Lupin books, barring 1 that wasn't published until 2012, 75 years after his death, which you can read in french on:
Since USA and French Copyright law are different, if you are in the USA you cannot use any books published after 1928 (except post-humous) for derivative works, as France has a shorter copyright term of 75 years after death (except post-humous), while the USA is based on 95 years after publication, so us poor Lupin fans in the USA have to wait until 2037 before they all are Public Domain :'(
TL;DR: If you're a fan of a series which is Public Domain, you can read them online for free 100% legally; if you're looking to buy phyiscal books and you're shopping online, please take care to check for quality to make sure you're not getting scammed with an extremely poor quality ""book"" which could be complete gibberish, and/or a huge waste of money and paper.
#public domain#arsene lupin#leblanc lupin#Arsène Lupin#scams#large text#bold text#tl;dr#described images#functionally described#this also counts for Sherlock Holmes and other famous PD works!!!

How URL Redirections are Beneficial for SEO
URL redirections are a crucial aspect of SEO, helping manage changes in your website structure without losing traffic or search engine rankings. Here’s how URL redirections can be beneficial:
Types of URL Redirections
301 Redirect (Permanent)
Use Case: Best used when a page is permanently moved to a new URL.
SEO Benefit: Passes approximately 90-99% of link equity (ranking power) to the redirected page.
302 Redirect (Temporary)
Use Case: Used when a page is temporarily moved to a new URL.
SEO Benefit: Does not pass link equity; search engines may keep the original URL indexed.
307 Redirect (Temporary)
Use Case: Similar to a 302 redirect but used when the original URL will return soon.
SEO Benefit: Preserves the request method and passes some link equity.
Meta Refresh
Use Case: Client-side redirect with a delay.
SEO Benefit: Not recommended for SEO as it can pass little to no link equity.
For more detailed guidance, check our SEO company and Digital Marketing services.
Benefits of URL Redirections for SEO
Preserve Link Equity
Redirects, especially 301 redirects, help preserve the link equity of the original page, ensuring the new page retains the SEO benefits.
Example: Redirecting an old blog post URL to a new URL without losing its ranking power.
Enhance User Experience
Prevents users from landing on 404 error pages by automatically redirecting them to relevant content.
Maintains website usability and keeps visitors engaged.
Manage Site Restructuring
During site migrations or redesigns, redirects ensure old URLs point to the new URLs.
Helps maintain search engine rankings and avoids losing traffic.
Canonicalization
Redirects can help solve duplicate content issues by pointing duplicate pages to a canonical URL.
Ensures search engines index the preferred version of the content.
Implementing URL Redirections
Using .htaccess File (for Apache Servers)
301 Redirect: Redirect 301 /old-page.html http://www.yoursite.com/new-page.html
302 Redirect: Redirect 302 /old-page.html http://www.yoursite.com/new-page.html
Using IIS Manager (for Windows Servers)
Configure HTTP Redirect settings to manage your redirects.
CMS Plugins
Platforms like WordPress offer plugins (e.g., Redirection) to manage URL redirects easily.
Monitoring and Testing Redirects
Google Search Console
Use the URL Inspection tool to check if redirects are set up correctly.
Crawl Tools
Tools like Screaming Frog can help identify redirect chains and loops, ensuring they are configured correctly.
Analytics
Monitor your traffic to ensure there are no significant drops post-redirection.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Redirect Chains
Avoid multiple redirects (chain redirects) as they can dilute link equity and slow down page loading times.
Incorrect Redirects
Ensure you use the correct type of redirect (301 vs. 302) based on whether the move is permanent or temporary.
Neglecting Mobile URLs
Ensure that redirects are correctly implemented for mobile versions of your site if they differ from the desktop versions.
Practical Tips for Effective URL Redirections
Plan Ahead
Before making significant changes to your site, plan your redirections to avoid broken links and maintain a seamless user experience.
Use Redirect Maps
Create a mapping document of old URLs to new URLs to ensure no page is left without a redirect.
Update Internal Links
After setting up redirects, update internal links to point directly to the new URLs, reducing unnecessary redirects.
Regular Audits
Perform regular audits to check the status of your redirects, ensuring they are still relevant and functioning correctly.

Average Smash Rating
Week 1: 52.7% Week 2: 57.7% Week 3: 54.4% Week 4: 62.9%
Thanks for being cool about the CM Punk poll. He's a very polarizing figure, so I really appreciate the fact that everyone was able to keep their tags civil. CM Punk received the third most smash votes to date (358 smash votes, compared to Adam Page's 386 and Eddie Kingston's 365). Punk Also received the 8th most pass votes. He just received a ton more votes than anyone else.
Onto other news, you guys massively prefer older Drew McIntyre (79.3% smash) to young Drew (57.0% smash). Tumblr maintains its reputation for being the "sexualize that old man" website!
I really struggled to find a good picture of Hook for his poll. He looks like my little brother, so it kinda felt like I was perusing my baby brother's thirst traps to show off to all the other horny weirdos on the horny weirdo website. It was easier than looking at all the Boogeyman worm photos, at least.
I'm thinking of running a few demographics polls in addition to the regularly scheduled smash or pass polls. Data on favorite wrestling promotion, sexual orientation, and age might make the poll results more interesting. Feel free to send in suggestions for other questions to ask. I can't promise I'll use all questions submitted by the community, but you guys will no doubt think of something I forget.
Some favorite tags this week
@discow1tch on Zach Sabre, Jr.: #you gotta see him twist a couple guys into pretzels before you fall for him
@samixayn on Hook: #if you love me you will bend this twink in half
@samixayn on Motor City Machine Guns: #is there not an eiffiel tower emoji or can i just not spell eiffeil.
@arthausen on Hook: #smash but he has to call me daddy and danhausen has to be there
@mancewarner on Hook: #passing bc he needs to be humbled
@pavlovean on Undertaker (American Badass Variant): #maybe if i knew where he was on january 6th and it wasn’t the capitol
@debbiechanclub on Hikuleo: #oh that's drilla in the first photo#and then he's holding a drill in the second#intentional op or not? lol (Answer: no it was not intentional. I am not that clever)
@daddywrasslin on Hangman Adam Page: #SMASH SO HARD MY NEIGHBORS NEED A CIGARETTE
@regalityandcoffee on Andrew Everett: #he looks like hed ramble to me about Pearl Jam for two hours (He looks more like a Tool fan to me, but yeah exactly)

I finished Aries’s redesign. What’s that about the name of the franchise being Zodiac Girlz? Oh. You just remembered it wrong. It was always Zodiac Girlz PLUS Boyz. Yeah. No need to fact check me…
I in Aries’s bio on the website it’s mentioned that she loves to argue. Which made me think she could be a part of the debate club. Which made me think of Ben Shapiro. Legendary big brain guy. I already gender bent Cancer so I was like why not also Aries.
Aries is five foot (152 cm) in height with a horrible case of short guy syndrome. Probably not helped by the fact that his 3 younger brothers are at least a head taller than him. He is 17 years old (his youngest brother is 12 LOL) and would like everyone to know he’s an ATHEIST!!! That crab on his T-shirt. NOT A CRAB! It’s The Flying Spaghetti Monster from Pastafarianism. It’s a real life parody religion. If you have any questions don’t mention them to Aries. He will monologue at you for days.
He likes to go to parties and stand in the hall. Preferably by the toilet. He picks arguments with anyone who walks past about religion. All the while holding a red plastic cup full of some disgusting alcoholic mixture he never actually drinks. He’s supposed to be a comic relief character if you didn’t notice.
He was prematurely born. No one thought he would live but his Mexican catholic parents prayed. And he did get better. By the time he was 3 he was like any other kid. Except smaller. Until he was 14 he took being catholic very seriously. Every Sunday he would be an altar servant. That was until he stumbled across some atheist forums. He lost his faith quickly. Wanting to be the correct one in every argument. His parents did not appreciate this change. Saying to him that if it wasn’t for god he would be dead.
He feels guilty for not being a chistian anymore. He’s also afraid of god’s anger for bad mouthing him. It pushes him more into atheism because if god doesn’t exist then he can’t hurt him.
Well. That took a depressing turn. It’s based off my own religious trauma as an ex catholic. Comment if you can relate LOL.
As time goes by he gets more and more nervous from arguing. To the point that he starts having panic attacks. He thinks that he’s dying. The doctor recommends him a therapist. The therapist manages to convince his parents to stop taking him to church and makes him stop going on the forums. Instead he gets a new hobby. Making shoes.
His superpower is super speed. The only thing stopping him from running up walls of skyscrapers are his shoes. They always break and then he runs (pun intended) the risk of hurting his feet. At first his home made shoes were worse than his basic off brand sneakers. But with the help of the scientist of the group Aquarius his shoes became way better. Eventually he wants to make a shoe brand with Cancer and Aquarius. Cancer is his best friend. Probably because he’s quiet and a yes man. He also sometimes decorates Aries’s shoes with Plains Cree inspired beadwork.
That’s it for Aries. I hope you don’t mind that it’s so long. Oh! Also he unlocked his superpower by getting in an argument with the wrong people and having to run as fast as he could from that.
#I’m quite enjoying taking a break by drawing these guys#next I’m going to do Sagittarius#she’s got the worst design#don’t be shy and comment who you’d like to see after that#I also thought of making bedrooms for them#2000s nostalgia#zodiac girlz#old web#my art#fanart#procreate#digital art

where i get my plushies! ( ^ω^ )
online
taobao or aliexpress
plush wonderland
for taobao/aliexpress i got dolls like xie lian, san lang, hua cheng, shen qingqiu, luo binghe, lan zhan, and wei ying. you can buy them officially from the taobao minidoll store or get them from a reseller on aliexpress (just make sure to check the reviews, and the doll quality.)
i also get my “ugly” dolls from there, from sellers with reviews. they are usually not as high quality as regular dolls, and have less of a softer feel than cotton (which is the standard for 20cm dolls.) also they’re not as consistent.
some other official companies for danmei dolls are rua. i got my gu xiang & cao wei ning 10 cm dolls from them and my legend of exorcism dolls also. they have good quality and packaging as well.
for plush wonderland, you are able to purchase them OFFICIALLY from dokidoki on aliexpress. i wouldn’t trust the resellers since that’s their official partner on the app. however they have a website, which i find decently priced. this is where i got my genshin plushies. they have a variety of other fandom plushies as well, i generally trust their dolls since they have good quality!
in-store/in-person
capcom store
amiami (akihabara radio kaikan 4th floor)
k-books (akihabara radio kaikan 3rd floor)
lashinbang
animate
capcom store is your go to place for plushies relating to the company’s games. i got my big dante plush and my small nero plush from there. they have three locations, tokyo, osaka and umeda. their tokyo location is in shibuya parco on the 7th floor (i believe) and the one thing about their location is that they almost seem to be out of plushies, especially resident evil and devil may cry. just be careful and check the other locations! i find that the plushies have a different feel to them and might not feel as “high quality” as a 20cm cotton plush but they are plenty soft.
akihabara radio kaikan is my go-to for much smaller plushies, like crane game plushies or larger charms. it is located right out of denki town gate in jr akihabara station.
your best luck with cheap yet good quality plushies is k-books on the third floor. it’s all used anime goods, with pretty much every popular franchise or anime. but despite being used everything is packaged like new and generally prices are really cheap compared to new anime goods! i find it worth going through the baskets below all of the goods and searching for a plushy you might like! it’s where i’ve gotten several gojo charms and plushies. and my aki plushies as well.
amiami is located on the fourth floor, and everything there is new/packaged anime goods. i find their selection pretty good if you want to find something a bit more niche. but i mainly highlight them because lately their small danmei selection has OFFICIAL minidoll plushies! (the prices are actually cheaper than some aliexpress resellers!) i saw a 40cm hua cheng sitting doll, and the special outfit hualian dolls as well. it is worth checking out for their danmei selection alone, even tho it is pretty small. however danmei goods is more plentiful in ikebukuro’s stella worth, although no plushies are there.
lashinbang has several locations in japan, but i typically visit the one in akihabara. i also visited the one in sapporo hokkaido, which is where i got my 40cm yuta and gojo sitting plushies for approximately $7. i really like visiting lashinbang because their baskets have some variety of plushy, although i would say that the condition varies on which store you visit. however they do tend to keep their prices low, unless the plushy itself is on demand. i like to get jujutsu kaisen plushies from there.
last of all, is animate! animate is a store where pretty much in-season anime and very popular anime gets goods. i typically don’t find plushies, maybe plushy charms occasionally but it’s not very often that i do. however it doesn’t hurt to check since animate is very convenient, as there is a few locations in tokyo and in other major cities. you’ll find standard anime goods prices here, as it’s a store for anything new.
hope this helps! i might add more ways to find plushies.

As we look towards the future, several key factors contribute to the increasing demand for web development expertise.
1. Digital Transformation Across Industries:
Businesses, regardless of their size or sector, are undergoing digital transformation. This shift is not only a trend but a necessity to stay competitive in the modern marketplace. Web development plays a central role in enabling this transformation, as companies seek to establish and enhance their online presence.
2. E-Commerce Expansion:
The rise of e-commerce continues to be a major driver for web development demand. With more consumers preferring online shopping, businesses are investing in robust and user-friendly websites to facilitate seamless transactions. This trend is likely to persist, further fueling the need for skilled web developers.
3. Mobile-First Approach:
The increasing use of smartphones has led to a paradigm shift towards a mobile-first approach in web development. Selecting the Best Content Management System for Your Business Website
The content management system (CMS) powering your business website significantly impacts its capabilities, performance, and ease of use over time. With web developers today spoiled for choice between open source CMS options like WordPress and Drupal or proprietary systems like Adobe Experience Manager and HubSpot, the evaluation process proves daunting for companies. When embarking on a website project or redesign, stay focused on your organization’s unique needs, resources, and business priorities when weighing the pros and cons of various CMS platforms.
First, take time to thoroughly consider what types of content, assets, and functionality matter most to your brand and audience day to day. For example, blogging, news publishing and journalist teams center heavily around text creation and workflow. Multimedia creatives and marketers, however, need robust digital asset management and organization. Let your website designer align technology recommendations to your primary content focus and goals.
Also, realistically assess the technical skills and resources your team brings to the table for effectively managing the CMS if opting for an open source platform like Drupal or Joomla. While extremely powerful, these systems demand solid web development expertise to customize, which represents an added cost. Simpler tools like WordPress may suffice.
Evaluate prospective CMS options in regards to built-in workflow capabilities as well, like approvals, permissions, and multi-channel content publishing abilities out of the box. Understanding your collaborators’ needs shaping real-world content operations keeps implementations smoother. Select CMS tools accordingly.
Importantly, test and ensure any short-listed CMS easily integrates with your other vital back-end systems like ecommerce engines, CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, etc. An experienced website designer already familiar with related integrations will recognize any limitations or hurdles.
Lastly, the ultimate CMS decision should effectively balance your desired functionality wishlist, readiness of staff resources to leverage the platform fully, and sufficient ease of use for non-technical folks who will actually manage content. With an expert website designer guiding the process holistically using these criteria, your ideal CMS solution match for current and future needs emerges.
