Bought one of my lil nephew giannis shoes for his birthday bcs he loves giannis and these are some of the ugliest fucking things I have ever laid my eyes on in my life. anyways it's his bday today so i gave them to him. but they are so ugly. he loves them

hate when my dad calls me kiddo. love when my coach calls me kid
#my coach is the best father figure ive ever had#and ive had 3 so far#the one first was nice but i was so young when he and my mum broke up that i dont really have many memories of him#and so he hasnt really had a lasting influence on me#but i know he tried to be a father to me and ill always appreciate that#the second gave me fucking ptsd after he and my mum got into a heated fight one time#but aside from that he was nice but just a big kid and not really a role model imo#then theres my coach#the kindest man alive to me and my friend who are both sorely lacking in father figures#he is always looking out for us and being such a good person we can turn to#always motivating us and just being what a parent should be#we joke we were his practice kids#honestly love him so much#but yea im calculating how many years my dad has left to live at the rate hes going (heavy smoker and alcoholic)#and im hoping i never lose this relationship i have with my coach because hes just an incredible person to have in my life#anywhooo#idk why i went off like that#way to infodump on innocent people just trying to scroll#im the person in the car at the drive thru and whoever is unlucky enough to read this is the cashier or whatever

I got into a car accident yesterday and my very fucked up car is currently parked in front of my apartment and when I was coming home from work today (in my rental car) a kid that lives in my apartment complex who I've never met stopped me and asked what happened to my car. I told him I didn't look before I turned and got t boned (figured it might at least teach the kid to be responsible when he's old enough to drive you know?) and he told me that his friend got into a car accident last year and went to the hospital. I told him that really sucks and I'm sorry to hear that. And he told me that he's glad I'm okay. And then he ran back to play basketball with his friends.
#I'm emotional in general today for obvious reasons but I keep thinking about that kid and tearing up#I hope his friends okay. I'm amazed that he was so kind and caring to a complete stranger.#I'm sort of worried about how comfortable he seemed talking to a strange adult but we are neighbors and he was in view of his house the#Whole time so that's probably fine.#Also for the record I DID look before I turned. Not hard enough I guess. The other guy was speeding but I should have seen him#But since I was talking to a ten year old I figured it was best to 1) take responsibility and 2) show how dangerous irresponsible driving#Can be to you know. Model good adult behavior to the best of my ability. You know?#Anyway I'm fine. I probably have whip lash and my car is fucked but I'm not seriously injured#And neither was the other driver#So I'm focusing on that.#I won't know if my car is fixable until Monday but my parents helped me get a rental and everyone involved is safe#Idk I'm rambling. It's been a long couple of days.

I find it odd there's so many cars on the road at this point in general
Model Ts were produced from approx 1910 to 1930 (give or take a couple years), so this is all actually before the carpetbombing that would eventually lead to the postwar construction
Which was when, forgive me if my history lessons of another country are shoddy, car-dependant infrastructure started to REALLY take off in the UK. Roads and such.
So... Thunderpaths, TRUE paved asphalt like what they're dealing with, should be pretty rare.

#its too 4am to be coherent about this but:#I have put a lot of effort into being able to freehand cars very specifically for This Scene#and also because i have strong opinions about the technology in tailslide being visually interesting in a way that contributes to the story#telling us something about the characters that create and use it#so I don't ever want it to look generic#I want the robots and cars and guns and etc to have as much design and expressivity as the characters#i get a little sad when the standard advice is to trace reference/3D models for cars and things in comics rather than cartoonifying them#i get that for most people that's reasonable#since it's a kinda specific skill#and those props are less central in most stories#just... not in tailslide. those cars are gonna be bouncing off each other hanna-barbera style to the best of my ability#you have been warned#complaining
