Steve is a musician who sings pop music and posts on TikTok. He’s kind of a C-ish list celebrity (definitely a bit of a nepo baby) and his music is poppy and catchy. It’s the kinda stuff that you can immediately tell is coming from someone who is actively holding things back/ isn’t writing from any truth. Mall music at its purest form. Then one day with no announcement Steve drops a double sided album that is like GOOD GOOD pop music. It’s also noted very quickly that the pronouns in all the songs have definitely switched to he/him. People freak out and he starts charting for the first time in his career. Kinda Chappell Roan-esque situation where he skyrockets to being a queer pop icon very very quickly.

He starts doing interviews. He shows up to these interviews in outfits aren’t dramatically changed from what he usually wore (polos, jeans, bomber jackets, 80s jock vibes) but it’s all just much more camp. The cropped shirts are shorter, the jeans are tighter, and the colors are all suddenly pastel. He has also started wearing makeup (not heavy makeup but it’s definitely a lipgloss, eyeliner, mascara, highlight/blush on the tip of his nose type situation). He shares that he dropped his old producer (who he had been set up with by his father) and that he’s now working with his best friend Robin. He comes out as gay, talks about his struggle with comp-het, and proudly shares that he is super excited to contribute to the growing movement of music that is being written by queer people, for queer people. His TikTok also blows up.

This is when Tommy Hagan first starts showing up. Tommy is an actor who is pretty well known for doing teen drama TV shows (like Riverdale type deals). He introduces himself to Steve at some sort of industry event right after Steve gets big and pretty quickly starts showing up in his TikTok videos. It comes out that the two are dating pretty quickly after that. They date off and on for about a year and a half. Tommy is a shitty enough boyfriend that even Steve’s fans don’t like him. He stands him up for dates, embarrasses him at events, says rude and dismissive things about his music, etc. Robin (who is also kinda famous by proxy/writes her own music now similar to Billie Eilish and Finneas) absolutely hates his guts. Publicly. They finally break up officially after Tommy cheats on Steve with an actress named Carol who is on a show with him. It gets exposed by the tabloids and Steve finds out by seeing a photo of them making out on one of those celebrity drama TikTok accounts.

Eddie is also getting famous around this same time. He’s the lead for Corroded Coffin and also starts acting occasionally in horror films. He doesn’t really pay much attention to other celebrities or the drama that goes on. He was never into that kind of thing before the band took off so he doesn’t see why he should now. Eddie and the rest of the band are at an awards show of some sort and the others make fun of him the whole time. He can’t stop staring at this absolutely beautiful man sitting at a table near them. “The guy is wearing a slutty little lace shirt, the tightest pants in existence, and has skin that looks like honey and caramel had a child Gareth you really can’t blame me honestly.�� Steve and Eddie don’t officially meet until the after party where they immediately hit it off.

A few months later Steve announces a new album and releases a single. It’s just Please Please Please by Sabrina Carpenter but gay and clearly about Tommy.

The music video comes out and people loose their minds. It’s the same sort of video as what Sabrina Carpenter just released for Please Please Please with the stunning outfits and the whole bad boy thing. Steve spends the whole video in dresses and skirts. There’s even a corset at one point. The bigger freak out is the fact that the Barry Keoghan equivalent is Eddie and its a hard launch of their relationship that fans had absolutely zero clue was even a possibility because why would horror/metal man Eddie Munson even know Steve Harrington???? The day had arrived, after weeks of anxiety, you were already dressed in ypur beautiful dress, with your makeup and hair done just waiting to leave. Your boyfriend was there with you, but you had both decided not to pose together on the red carpet, so it would just you. After you received the news that you had been nominated in the category of ''best supporting actress'' for your film ''Oppenheimer'' released that same year, you hadn't been able to sleep, you longed for that award after having given your all to that role.

The Golden Globes would be important, that day your boyfriend would accompany you and you couldn't ask for more. In fact, both had tried to keep your relationship as private as possible for the last two years, but at that moment it almost didn't matter to hide it from the public eye.

Arriving at the event, Y/N, adorned in a stunning floor-length dress, gracefully walked the red carpet, flashing smiles and waving to the adoring crowd.

There was no need for Morty to argue. He could see it from her perspective. The ridicule, the fear of judgement. It was all things that hit pretty close to home for him. Even if he didn't have to worry about his identity not being taken seriously.

In fact, he wasn't even aware of his identity as a person other than being a Morty and the President Of The Citadel. All he knew was that he had a girlfriend and whatever he had with his counterpart.

"Let's put a pin on the child talk for later," He didn't want to get her hopes up that he never wanted children. That he wasn't one to enjoy a child's presence around. "And I see, I think I understand, but I'm your boyfriend - we're partners - everything about you should be my concern and I don't like being kept in the dark about important things,"

With that, he took a few steps closer. He took hold of her hand, brushing his thumb soothingly against her knuckles.

"That's where you're wrong. You are and always have been a real girl. Your biological sex doesn't make you any less of that. People view you and see you as you are because that's what you are. If anyone sees you differently, they're just showing how they've never learned anything past middle school science class,"

Then he took both of her hands into his own. "Do you know how many LGBTQA+ people are on the Citadel? I've never seen anyone actually being straight here. No one will judge you if it ever comes out. And I'm not saying you should come out, that's your business alone, whatever you want to do with your identity is up to you. But I promise, people will judge you based on your character here, not for what you identify as."

Meg was so caught up in her anger and frustration that the only thing that pulled her out of it was the hypothetical. Them having kids. Her having morty's kids that was something she wanted even though it was clearly not in the cards for them. It made her gaze at him intensely. A hot pink blush rushing to her cheeks and across her nose as well.

It was also very flattering that he thought they'd be together that long that they would have the kind of conversation. "I always thought that us having kids wouldn't even be the cards for us regardless because of your important work. Our lives are hectic. Busy. I thought we would never even think to talk about it. " Despite how she felt about the concept. "As for medical emergencies I doubt you would ever allow me to get hurt like that."

Sure she had a few injuries protecting him over the years but the most prominent one being her eye injury hadn't even required that kind of information. She huffed at him at that. "It's not that I don't trust you. I just hate it. This part of myself has always made my life more difficult. It's a big reason why I was bullied. It's always made people look at me differently. Treat me differently." She admitted with her back turned to him.

Only facing him once she continued on. "The citadel was supposed to be my fresh start. To have this new happy life all for myself. The people here they view me as a lady. A real girl. You did too. It made me feel beautiful for the first time ever. If everyone else were to find out I know someone would judge me for it. Some random rick or morty dead names me or misgenders me once and then it's all over. The image and respect we've worked so hard for me to build would just be gone. I can't cope with being one big joke again morty."

The loud clicks as well as the bright flashes only got louder and brighter after Andrew and Y/n stepped out of their car, heading into the venue. It was understandable, both were up for very prestigious awards tonight, Andrew for best actor and Y/n for directing as well as writing. But of course paparazzi didn’t care about that, they wanted what sold, and pictures of the couple sold.

The couple was also making their first appearance since their ten year anniversary, they had co-starred in Spider-man together. They were twenty-eight then and both in that place in life to settle down with someone, while still putting their best foot forward for their careers. They fit together like pieces of a puzzle, like she was the espresso and he was the milk to a cappuccino.

It took them a while to get married, only being three years of marriage in a ten year relationship, many people at the time pushed for them to take that step. But they knew what was right for them, and they both grew tired of saying ‘boyfriend’ and ‘girlfriend’ when they could be saying ‘husband’ and ‘wife’.

“And best directing goes to…” The booming voice on stage spoke, of course stalling as they always did for dramatic affect. It was as if a Y/n was no longer there, like she was merely watching at home on a screen, dreaming she was the director to win.

The only indication it had been announced, is the warm and firm hug Andrew brought her into. Leaving a kiss on her forehead in congratulation, but also of pride. His wife won best director.

“Love, I am so proud of you. You deserve this.”

His words brought her back to life, as they always did, looking up at him she left a kiss on his lips, herself and him whispering ‘I love you’s against each other's soft lips. They didn’t care that they were on live TV, they were celebrating. After quickly getting hugs from the cast and crew that were there, Y/n made her way up the stage, accepting the award.

“I truly just had an out of body experience. This has been a dream since I was- god like thirteen, when I took my first film class. Mrs. Goldstone, thank you for fighting for that class to be given at my school. If it wasn’t I wouldn't be here. And to my husband, Andrew, I wouldn’t be here if you didn’t push me to pursue directing six years ago. I love you.”

After thanking the cast and crew, as well as the academy, Y/n made her way off the stage. Only to run backstage to her seat, not wanting to miss the best actor award.Coming back to her seat she was huffing and puffing from all the running, “What? Did you run here?” “Yes, actually.”

Turning his head, left another string of kisses from the woman’s forehead to her check, “I’m so proud of you.”

“And the nominees for best actor!” The camera panned to the respective actors as the man on stage read off the names, “And the award for best actor goes to… Andrew Garfield! Tick, Tick… Boom!”

Both rose from their chairs, smiling widely, and bringing each other into a tight hug, “My turn to be proud. You deserve this, I love you.” “I love you.”

Andrew made his way to the stage this time, accepting the award, shaking the hands out everyone on stage before he made his way to the microphone, “I just can only say thank you. I know everyone says it, but I did not see this coming. I want to thank every member of the cast as well as the crew, you made this movie possible. And Lin, thank you, I love working with you. And my wife, who lied to Lin when he asked her if I could sing. Without you immediately lying for me, this wouldn’t be possible. I love you.”

The music playing in the club is questionable at best, pounding in your head in a way that makes you wish you could turn hearing aids off as your grandfather used to do on family events.

You’re not sure why you indulged your friends, or why you let them throw a party for an award you have not even won yet. You’re not sure why you’re sitting in such an uncomfortable booth, sipping overpriced drinks and side-eyeing your boyfriend every other shot.

You’re not sure how you ended up in this situation in the first place, but you sure know the reason why you’re still here.

The reason itself is hooping her arm around your shoulder as her head drops down in a laugh so loud it makes you grin too – even if you have no idea what it’s all about.

Leah holds you closer in a familiar way, having noticed the discomfort growing in your chest all night long. Somehow, her gentle fingers drawing abstruse shapes on your arm and her distinctive, warm presence manage to ease your body and mind immediately.

“You good?”

“Good enough”, you answer, your friends distracted as necessary to give you a moment to hear your own thoughts.

“Just say the words and we’re out of here”

She winks, trusting you to actually use the secret sentence a much younger version of the two of you come up with to get each other out of trouble.

Never failed so far.

The bubble enveloping you pops when Keira, your boyfriend, and a couple of your mates come full speed into the booth, looking for drinks and victims to drag on the dance floor.

“Having fun?”, your boyfriend asks, his arm claiming the right to hold you closer.

You don’t have time to answer; Keira is loudly teasing Leah for something you can’t hear, and your friends are trying to get you to join them. They push and pull, too excited to properly move in the tiny free space left on the booth.

That’s how you find yourself on top of Leah, her hands on your back to keep you steady and your gaze fixed on her easy smile.

“They’re doing it again!”

Someone, somewhere around, comments that you look very good together. They point out the teasing and the flirting, you think her touch on your skin feels like second nature. The weight constantly pressing on your chest moves to and fro, stirred by gentle wind like a leaf. They make fun of the way you look at each other, the way Leah looks at you as if you’re the reason the Sun rises every morning.

You can breathe freely around her, you notice just now in the loudest and most crowded club in London.

“If not for the pretty boy right there, one could think–”

“In her dream”, you quip back, holding Leah’s cheek between your knuckles in a childish way – the grin on her lips never fading.

The excited and amused reactions around you aren’t able to catch your attention, not questioning the frown on your boyfriend’s face.

“Make her dream come true then”

That makes your head turn, not believing the words coming out of his mouth. It must be a drink too much, it must be his bruised ego; but he’s challenging you and he knows it never ends well.

“Don’t threaten me with a good time”, the blonde gets involved, bursting into a laugh believable enough to fool everyone but you.

“As if”

The annoyed scoff is barely registered by your mind.

Your hand on the back of Leah’s neck rises just enough for your fingers to find some loose locks – the movement always able to calm her.

A moment later, your lips touch.

The kiss is too soft to be offensive, too caring to be just a dare.

Something inside your stomach rises awake, your heart stops suddenly and explodes like a million fireworks at the same time. It feels like a completely new and unexpected emotion invades your own body.

A piece of a puzzle you didn’t even know was missing finds its place.

It goes on past your friends’ cheers and laughs, your boyfriend’s ego, your own beliefs. It starts with Leah’s hands on your back and your lips sealing her downfall, it carries on with your bodies finding a way to get even closer, it doesn’t stop with the music and the need for air.

It will not end due to the fear of facing consequences.

It’s a lot, but you don’t care. It’s right.

Maybe the entire club goes silent, maybe just the doubts so deeply rooted in your soul you thought were a part of you.

Leah cups your face so kindly you find yourself chasing her lips like you can only breathe now you kissed her, but you feel her pulling away just enough to know.

“Rio called”, she says gently.

Two words able to drag you back in the actual moment, seated on her lap with your hands around her neck. You’re in a crowded club in London, the music still sucks. Your boyfriend’s looking at you both like he doesn’t know who you are and like he really sees you for the first time.

You don’t have to think too much after that, you sit up and reach for her before anyone can comment or even realise what just happened.
