Darcy and Riven – their story and why I ship them

In January 2023 I found my way back into the Winx fandom - more precisely, I created this Tumblr on January 28th, 2023 and since then I have been constantly passionate about this show from my childhood. Most of all, of course, for our three favorite witches. Accordingly, this year I have given a lot of thought and HCs to the Trix and their relationships. Today is the day that I'm going to write down all of these HCs and thoughts I have and tag them properly so that they're easier to find in my jumble of posts, reblogs and crazy fangirling. Well, have fun!

I got my first anon ask about Driven headcanons (hcs most of the time now) in march and therefore tried to order my thoughts on this topic as well. It actually became something of a definition of their relationship and how I see them in the show: This is how my bullet journal looks:

Riven is pretty badass. That's why Rivusa doesn't make much sense because ego-wise he would have gone after best-girl-Bloom. Or Princess Stella, but more Bloom, simply because Brandon (Sky) obviously found Bloom interesting.

Then there is Darcy. Not only is she the complete opposite of the loud, glittering fairy gang, but she also forms a stark contrast to Riven. She is powerful, yes, but above all she is calm, goal-oriented and come on in 1x8 we see how cute she is. Of course, Riven likes her power-talk in 1x9 but he surely is keen on her because she is a totally different type of girl than Musa or Stella.

Oh, and an important thing that just came to my mind while supervising what I wrote and putting it into a post: DARCY DID NOT MIND-CONTROL HIM IN CANON!

Her glowing eyes meant that she formed the connection with Riven, so that he could contact her mentally later on in the show!

It's fkn 4kids who came up with the mind control because they tend to downplay everything for all American kids' sake. - Ok back to the post:

In terms of type, if comparted to the fairies, Darcy is mostly like Flora, but in contrast to the nature fairy, she has a much more self-confident demeanor. She is also the first to respond to Riven as a person and his needs (power, being recognized). Then of course there is the matter of rescue. Firstly: Thanks for saving my life and secondly: The woman can ride this flying motorcycle like a guy. Where can you find something like that? And unlike the Winx, who are constantly in trouble, Darcy (and her sisters) is beyond competent (in Season 1 after all, we know how the writing goes down, *sigh*). So, we have Darcy: a beautiful, competent badass BB who just saved his life and looks like an angel that fell from heaven - all in the specialist uniform too - sexyyy. So, it's an extremely attractive girl who also knows guy things and cares about him and really sees and perceives him as a person. She's not a self-centered good-time girl who makes him clean, so she doesn't have to endure her punishment alone (looking at you, Winx....)

But who exactly is Darcy? (she's my girl, my bb, my queen) Out of the Trix, she is probably the one who is least behind the world domination plans. Of course, she is still a member of the Trix - and of course not less power-hungry than her sisters. But she would be the one most likely to give up everything to live a quiet but fulfilling life with the person she loves. Isn't she? She is definitely the first to panic and to make mistakes as a result. We remember episode 1x5, where she immediately panicked when everything didn't work out as planned. She thought she would find Stella's ring in no time, that wasn't the case. Instead of keeping a cool head like Icy would have, she freaks out and starts attacking Bloom. Is it fear because she is running out of time and doesn't know what to do if her disguise is exposed? In any case, Darcy would have been expected to wear a more confident disguise. But in the end, she's the one most likely to panic and this episode shows that perfectly. Maybe that's also the reason why she has clever ideas, but often doesn't think them through. In episode 2x10 she tries to get Icy to put the feather in the scales, fearing that she might have made a mistake and get wiped just like Stormy, who had previously hit the scales with brute force. Icy states very correctly: You’re a backstabbing coward, Darcy. And I love you for that. And with that she the nail right on the head. Darcy is certainly the first of the Trix to get nervous. She certainly has a tendency to overthink, whereas Riven strikes first and thinks later (at best).

Mind control is her specialty. She knows how to get into the minds of her victims to confuse and weaken them. At the same time, she also knows how uncertain and dangerous feelings can be. When it comes to having deep feelings for someone else, she is more likely to be the one who is insecure and cautious. Precisely because feelings are so uncertain, she probably tries to make decisions with her head rather than with her guts.

Their love story is iconic and cute. Basically, we have good girl and bad boy, but the good girl is one of the bad guys and the bad boy is ultimately one of the good guys. They haven't really fought against each other yet. Riven only knows that Darcy is one of the most powerful witches in Cloud Tower and that she and her sisters hate the Winx. Since Riven is skeptical of the Winx himself and has no deeper connection to them, he has little to do with this antipathy from both sides and perhaps only hears about it in passing from Brandon or Sky. So in 1x7 he doesn't pay much attention to the Trix. The fact that he turns on the light and exposes the Trix is once again Riven being Riven. He wants to be the cool dude and doesn't really care about the situation. He simply has no interest in the Winx's affairs and is only pissed when he becomes personally involved with Musa being thrown into his arms by the minotaur. Maybe that’s where his inner hero speaks? But first and foremost, he wants to praise himself. The first time he really notices Darcy is in 1x8, where she represents to him the complete opposite of the fairies, one of which had just shown him up (Bloom).

Darcy, on the other hand, is already interested in Riven in 1x7 and hides the whole thing behind the talk about the Prince of Darkness (seriously, WHO is the Prince of Darkness? Why is that never clarified?). One episode later, she's extremely worried that something might happen to Riven with Icy's, admittedly delicate, plan. bb obviously already has a crush on him. And no one can claim that Icy doesn't know this and is actively using it for her plan. I think that Darcy's feelings didn't matter to her at all, thinking she'd get over it sooner or later. But the fact is, even Icy sees the spark fly between them.

So you could say it was love at first sight for both of them. It is also important for Riven that after all the disappointments and constant criticism he was exposed to at Red Fountain, someone finally recognizes him and his talents. While the Winx, especially Stella, just complained about him, Darcy supported what he was. Partly because she can take advantage of his ambitions, of course, and partly because she simply likes him. I think there are some things Darcy does simply for herself and not because it's part of the plan to rule the Magic Dimension.

From Riven's point of view, what probably also speaks for Darcy is her maturity. She's not a little fairy to save. The opposite is the case. She is probably more experienced in other things too - but that always depends on the respective HC. Darcy can be a bad bitch and cute bb - both are accurate. For me though, she gives more bb vibes than bitch vibes. However, she appears much more mature and confident than the fairies. Speaking of bb (she's one, look at her!) -

she's the type most likely to develop romantic feelings. Icy is too calculating and Stormy is just there for the passion (if you get what I mean). In 2x2 we have this scene "*sigh* To be young and in love...".

She's also the one of the Trix most likely to feel something resembling remorse, if only for her time with Riven. On the other hand, in season 2 we have Riven, who immediately sees through Darcy's attacks - because he knows them. Very well. There is probably still a connection between the two. There could have been more hints about their relationship besides “cute” and “not cute”. There could have been one or two longing looks. I FELL ROBBED.

That’s basically how I interpret their story and why I ship them. I’ll come up with some headcanons these days as well. Stay tuned :3

Hiya Little fan! We send our best wishes to you as well, I hope you’re doing well 🥰! We’ll start with Charlotte.

Charlotte:

My mom likes her, but says that Charlotte has been “done dirty” by canon 😅. She likes that she’s a badass warrior, but hates how it seems like all the focus is on her crush on Yami (as in, thats all the anime wanted to focus on) and the silly comedic stuff. She said “there’s so much potential for Charlotte, but they’re just wasting it! Show us why Sol is obsessed with her instead of just telling us!”

She also said her favorite Charlotte scene was the flashback when her curse activated, saying that “I thought the writers were going to do something with it. But they haven’t yet, which confuses me. I want her to have a moment to show us how amazing she is!”. She does like the silly bits with Charlotte though, like the scene in the Star Festival, but really wishes we could see her “warrior, cool” side more!

Overall she likes Charlotte, but wishes that she would show off her badass side more because she’s a really good character that’s being wasted!

Vanessa:

She said she loves Vanessa, and when I asked why she said “What’s not to love?”. She likes that she can out drink most of the other characters, and says that she thinks Vanessa is one of the smartest out of the BBs, and she really loves Rouge (“Rouge can be sassy” is her direct quote XD) and that she loves Vanessa’s magic! She loves how Vanessa utilizes her powers as well as the other Bulls powers!

She said she loves how Vanessa hangs with the boys but also hangs out with the girls, and just overall loves her “wine aunt” personality (“she reminds me of Karen Walker from “Will & Grace”” was another quote!) but she loves Vanessa and says she can do no wrong XD!

Dorothy:

For Dorothy she doesn’t really have much of an opinion, she said she likes her powers and thinks she’s cool, but doesn’t like that Dorothy kept Nozel’s secret about Acier from Noelle for as long as she did, and wishes that Dorothy had stepped in to tell Nozel that he was going to far in how he was treating Noelle!

(Note: I don’t think we know when Nozel told Dorothy about his curse, and we don’t know if Dorothy even knew about how he and his siblings were treating Noelle 😅).

We actually met through my roommate who was (and still is!) dating one of his best friends. He SWEARS that he approached me first but I’m like 97.8% sure I asked him to chase a shot of rum with hot sauce with me (which is fucking disgusting, don’t ever do that 😫)

also funnily enough, it turns out that we matched on Tinder like ~4 months before we ever met 😭😭 I deleted the app like a week after he sent it, so I never even saw the message, but he remembered and was like “Oh shit there’s the girl that never responded to me on Tinder” so he was kinda nervous at first HAHA

Ranking main 4 bleach villains.

1.Kigo Ginjo

A big suprise I know but let me explain.When Kugo was first introduced we weren't sure if we could trust him but overtime some of us did.When he was shown as a villain I was suprised and a little sad cause I liked his and Ichigo's dynamic.He is a direct parallel to Ichigo and what could've happened if he chose the wrong path.His whole plan is also really well done.His design is also great,he got drip.I also love the scene in CFYOW where he chose to visit Ukitake's grave which meant he forgave him.I am sad that Ginjo is so underrated cause he deserves more appreciation.

2.Yhwach

Now I have not read the full manga I only saw the bits of it and read the novel in BBS.But Yhwach was there since the beginning as old man Zangetsu who used to be one of my favorites when I first started the anime.Yhwach never said he enjoys what he is doing and he believes that by erasing life and death he could create the perfect world.However Aizen pointed out in the manga that what he is trying to achieve is impossible and I agree.He also wants to free his father from his ashamed state.Other than the motives I also find him much more threatening than Aizen.Unless we are talking about monster Aizen.

3.Aizen

Please hear me out.Aizen is cool and all but the thing about him is that his motives are just not as much emotionally driven as the other two's.I like him still a lot.Second and third place could be switched.Also the intire thing with Momo is rather questionable so that is a big minus.He is still a powerful and badass villain.And when it comes to looks he is a 9/10.His dynamic with Urahara is the best pard of the story.And I love how at the end of the series he grew to respect Ichigo.

4.Tokinada

The biggest piece of human shit.Guy literally first broke all the bones of his assassins before killing them which is just way too cruel.He got really offensive when his five pointed out that "His sky" wasn't clear and killed her because she saw right through him.He created a child just to use it.Not to mention that in the end he ran off like a coward and got killed by random girl and he was laughing at his death because it was neither Shunsui nor Hisagi who killed him.He is a worthless piece of shit.But one good thing about him is his design and the fact that in the BBS he is voiced by a legend Kenjiro Tsuda who voices some of my favorite characters.

OH THERES TOO MANY!!! I can't just list another three and cover all of them but if I really have to choose HJBEBFH!!

I have a soft spot for Arthur Pendragon (Prototype), he's just so cute to me... plus I do ship him and archer!Gil, so thats one of the reasons why i love him so much HJREBFHJERF. (Still holding out for his alter version in game)

The next one is everyone's favourite sussy big brother !! MERLIN!!! I honestly think he's so cool, and I wish FGO explores him more!!! But in the same time, i think his vague story kind of opens him up to a lot of interpretations, which is fitting for his lore!!

Uhh uh uh uh uh, shit I'm gonna have to put in Charlie for this one !!! he's literally my boyfriend, i can't just NOT put him on the list at some point !!! i honestly didn't know what was all the hype about him until i played fate CCC, and then i got so attached and cried when i reached the end of the story. LIKE BRO????? so yes now I have him on fgo, and im so happy im gonna grail him as soon as the next lottery event comes around!!

3 OTPs: Pusagil/Arthurgil, Mergil and uh uh uh uh Lucigil!! (Lucius Tiberius x Gilgamesh). These are all quite random but I promise you guys this, they do make sense in my head!!!! so thats all that matters!!!

Funniest character: Everyone has caused me to laugh eventually, but I'm gonna say it's a tie between Cu and Gil !!! Especially Cu during Carnival Phantasm has caused me immense abdominal pain HERFJHREF

Prettiest character: OHH this is a bit hard, since there's so many that's actually pretty in my eyes!!! But if I have to choose, it's definitely Jeanne!!! She caught my eye when I played Orleans for the first time and now with her new animation update, I'm gonna try to get her!! (hopefully HBJERF)

Most Annoying Character: BB. I really don't like BB. I like all the other Sakurafaces though, its just that.... BB is so annoying.

Most badass character:

UUGHHH THERE'S SO MANY CHARACTERS THAT ARE BADASS!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm in love with so so so many !!! Especially from the Lostbelt Arc, like there's so many characters that were so badass and it just has my jaw on the floor. But if I really must choose,,, I guess I'll mention my favourite 4* !! my favourite FtM lancer, Caenis !!!

Character I’d like as my BFF:

OH THERES SO MANY!!! I'd say all of them would make such nice friends !!! But if I have to choose uhh, I'd say HaoHao!! (Yang Guifei~!) she's so super duper cute!!!!

Female Character I’d Marry: Siduri. NO ONE TOUCH ME, I WANT TO MARRY MISS SIDURI!!!! I LOVE MISS SIDURI OKAY!!!!! but alas, because of her..... condition .... i think the most ideal woman to marry would be Queen Morgan herself. Sure, she's a bit yandere, but at least she'd treat me right!

hello time of wheelies, i am still livetweeting the books but i am now done with book 2 and figured you all might want an update, the most important being: y'all were right about the religious freaks with coffee, good god

yeah so let's start there with the seanchan because hooooooooly fuck

literally every time any of the seanchan are on the page i just sat there open-mouthed going "oh my god these guys are such FREAKS". but it's also so galaxy brained of robert jordan to introduce another antagonistic faction but have them be completely unconnected to the ongoing battle of dark vs light + unrelated to all the other factions in the setting?

and all the insane details about their culture. the nails! the blood! the insect-like armor! THE GROLM? (they're dimension-hopping colonizers????) also i only picked up on it b/c i was on the lookout but when lord turak is talking about "caf" and saying that the aroma is almost better than the taste, i literally sat up and yelled THOSE FUCKS HAVE COFFEE

for real though it is so unbelievably funny/based for rj to be like, okay, the prophesied last battle between the forces of good and evil is about to take place, world-shattering apocalypse, make or break. meanwhile, some guys from across the ocean are gonna invade and Do A Colonialism.

also, the damane? UNBELIEVABLY fucked on every conceptual level. special shoutout to renna's cloyingly patronizing treatment of egwene though, that shit actually made my stomach churn. (also also, shoutout to nynaeve for immediately seeing the damane/sul'dam/a'dam for what they are and reacting with the extremest revulsion when she has to put the bracelet on, love u bb girl <3)

kinda wanted at least one comedic interaction in the battle of falme where a bunch of seanchan soldiers run into The Actual Ghost Of Artur Hawkwing and lose their shit though. actually i thought it was soooooo funny as a narrative choice to have the horn blown but you barely see what happens in the big clash on the ground cos you're in rand's pov and he's too busy fighting ba'alzamon in a giant laser light show in the sky

(i still. don't really understand how that worked exactly but WHATEVER, it's fine. sad about the heron blade though ;-; but at least rand got to "prove" he has/had the right to it beforehand when he defeated turak. without channeling, even! which makes it 5x more badass)

also i thought it was interesting that by around the midway point of the book you have the pov characters dealing with three different factions whose way of doing things seems strange and alien: the seanchan, the aiel, and the cairhien nobles with the great game. just thought it was an interesting parallel

also, rand trying his best to Not Participate in the great game and just getting pulled in deeper was never not funny, sorry not sorry. rand and co infiltrating barthanes's mansion to try and grab the horn and the dagger was Peak D&D Heist energy and i loved it

the other big thing that had me losing my shit was surprise! parallel dimensions

LITERALLY WHAT THE FUCK. the moment that the realization hit that the washed-out otherworld that rand/hurin/loial found themselves in was an ALTERNATE UNIVERSE where artur hawkwing didn't defeat the trollocs, i fucking went crazy. and then loial talking about the excerpt from "mirrors of the wheel" and going on about worlds that are shadows of the real world! i was hooting and hollering and going "this is just like chronicles of amber" (which i highly recommend for y'all, VERY different vibe compared to wheel of time but they're super fun and you'll love them if you like the whack-ass stealthy sci-fi/genre blends in WOT)

and then the escalation to rand actively trying to use the stone and flickering through countless permutations of his own life? utterly fucking bananas. also: unbearably tragic! literally what if you lived out hundreds of versions of your life but despite the seemingly-infinite choices open to you, they all really boil down to one choice: play the role that's meant for you and be doomed by the narrative, or don't play and be doomed anyways. like. FUCK

robert jordan i am begging you to give me more insane alternate realities for your made up fantasy universe, i am begging you for more insane creepy shit like the otherworld being devoid of people and all the color washed out since it's a "weak reflection", it is SO GOOD

this is tangentially related but: i knew who """selene""" really was going in, but i did NOT know her introduction in the books was this fucking batshit, and also that she comes across as literally the shadiest motherfucker alive. "oooh, here i am in my pretty white dress being attacked by a beast, come save me! no i don't know how i got here, i was just riding! don't mind how i know a surprisingly specific amount about the portal stones! you're my hero! you can blow the horn and be a great man!" unironically i love her so much for this scheme, and how it plays off so well vs rand's insistence that he's just a shepherd + his starting to settle into the position of "lord" and/or "dragon"

but fr though i think this conflict is sooooo interesting as a central narrative theme, i.e. the choice to seek out glory and heroism for its own sake vs taking it upon yourself as your duty because there's no one else who can vs running away from that duty and responsibility. "We may be a poor pair of heroes, but we are what there is." "It was not what I was made for, but all was breaking apart, and they were alone, and I was all they had." everything with rand feeling the "threads" of his duties and "death is lighter than a feather, duty heavier than a mountain" and the idea of choosing to sheathe the blade in yourself when the moment comes. and how that ties in with ingtar's final choice and his sacrifice!

it's all about the CHOICE!!! this is literally me irl rn:

oh my god what else. i loved getting so much more detail on the aes sedai (who are basically underfunded academics constantly squabbling among their respective departments, i have decided) and how channeling works/feels. (the parallel between the girls imagining saidar as a flower vs rand feeling saidin as the flame and void with a sickly light in it. chef's kiss!!! but also, rand simultaneously craving saidin and being sickened by it? chewing glass about it, nbd) verin mathwin aka The Aes Sedai Ever is unbelievably great. a lot of this book felt like buildup so i'm hype for things to start popping off, especially now that rand has apparently accepted the mantle of dragon. these books are crazy and i love them

Ameera James (29)

Unofficial leader of MINX. First member to be scouted for he group. Huge social media following with a voice of an angel.

Joanie Marie Jones (29)

The group's secret weapon. She was discovered while out shopping with her mom. Very well rounded and can sing, rap, and dance her ass off. Was in a popular web series and is beloved by fans all over.

Rakia Banks (28)

The resident bad girl of the group. After her mugshot was leaked and went viral, she was asked to join the group. Always about her money and her business.

Lania Parker (27)

MINX'S very own bi icon. Was scouted for the group after spearheading a LGBTQIA+ protest that got out of hand. A true activist who doesn't back down from anything. Was in a serious relationship with Bree.

Bree (30)

BB Record's biggest star. Put the label on the map and has several awards under her belt. Recent album went platinum, securing her a major endorsement deal and a sponsored tour from Chanel. Former girlfriend of Lania.

Sasha Engles (25)

Trevante's little sister. Work's as an AR rep in the company. Is good at her job but often jeopardizes it being overly ambitious.

Camille Daughton (26)

Sasha's best friend since middle school and a well known real estate agent. Often goes along with Sasha's schemes, especially when it benefits her.

Character I find most attractive: the boss strangelove eva (specifically big mama) or mgs4 meryl :P

Character I would marry: MERYL !1 GIRLFRIEND FOR ME NOW itd be the boss or strangelove but i would never break them up like that.

a random thought: i think about that post about otacon being the one to carry out the boss' will without even knowing every single day. Oh my god. wauh. ok hang on one second i found it. AUHHH

An unpopular opinion: rising mid as fuck and the fans make me hate it. also i um. dont really care a lot for bb and the bb focused games sorry. like i get the point and mgsv's visuals+gameplay do slay but bb as a character i didnt really find myself invested in a lot and the weird hero worship some of the fandom has for him does NOT help LOL. like the people around him (ocelot eva miller eli etc) were way more interesting . also EVEN MORE unpopular opinion as a result of this ... mgs3 isnt really all that for me and even though its objectively pretty shit mgs4 is one of my favourites (behind mgs1 and ghost babel)

Most Badass Character: Hrmm. hrmmmmm. ok its a bit out there but otacon. after the shitty childhood that he came out of pretty um.. Canon writing made it seem like Kai was the worst thing to happen to Bonnie, when in reality her friends caused her more trauma. Yet she manages to forgive them for using her magic nonstop...But at least with Kai, Bonnie had agency. She stood up for herself & didn't allow him to use her.

I mean I agree - I remember re watching the first season of TVD and in one of the first episodes I believe Damon cut her throat open ?? And I was shocked because I didn't remember that, and realised that from season one it all goes down hill for her.

Of course her friends have traumatic things happening to them, but somehow it's not adressed in the same way.

She barely have time to grieve her Grams, her dad, her mother who is still alive but a vampire and barely around. Her almost dying and then dying for REAL and being a ghost and no one realise and investigate??

Of course we know by now this show has racist undertones (sigh) and it cause BB and KG to be treated less well that her white conterparts. She has to "forgive" them and keep being loyal because covenient for the plot.

Compared to her friends, we rarely see in her private life dealing with her emotions, dreams, hopes, trauma, getting to know herself, study, practicing magic in autodidactic way - owning her powers, creating alliance with other witches... It's like she has no life or purpose outside of them.

And she just doesn't have time to live her life, because she and her magic are constantly used to get her friends out of their own messes or she's seduced and tricked by new people.

No one is ever as loyal to her as she can be to them, why??

Like you said when she met Kai, I finally could see the old Bonnie, the one who had the chance of standing up for herself, of having the upper hand. You know the badass witch who descicated Klaus? The one who wants to be in control of her own life.

Not only Kai (with his mind games lol) found a way to get her magic back, but he also brought back the fire in her - literally.

In their back and forth retaliation we could see that for once she wasn't a pawn in Kai's storyline -he tricked her but she tricked her too, yes he did stab her, but she killed him first - they were worthy opponants and neimesis. It was more than being the bad guy vs the good girl plotline?

Before the awful mess that was the Seson 6 final their arch was convulted and intriguing and full of parallels and potential. If they had followed Kai's redemption arch they have gone through being ennemies to allies, friends, lovers. Even the plot took a darker turn with Bonnie trapping Kai in another karaoké prison world lol, there's still something there between them.

The difficulty of being in the 1994 world did drove her into a corner - but I like to think it's also because it brought things to the surface that she buried inside for so long like broken trust, loneliness but also strenght. It brought her back.

So idk why they portray Kai as the worst thing ever - so much that suddenly it's the only reason she committ herself to a psychiatric hospital?? (I'm not sure I stopped watching after season 6) - when her Grams herself said that 1994 would brought Bonnie peace.

Seems more like the show back tracked on its own writting because it got to popular and that really deep down they have to hate Bonnie??

I think getting out of Mystic Falls and having her own plotline with Damon and the fresh, exciting new character that was Kai, was one of the best thing that happen to Bonnie.

Ruby: Is there any symbolism used in your wip?

- not so much symbolism as in animals or flowers that traditionally mean something, but there's a lot of use of metaphor + allusion that represent mood and tone and how the characters are feeling. I think I do it the most often through Nina, both because she's the main character and she's the most guarded about her actual feelings. Nina's hair is the most obvious symbolism, as well as the books she references that reflect themes of the story at the moment.

Tiger’s Eye: What are the tropes of your main cast?

- i'd say every character (except for danae lol) is an unreliable narrator, all operating with their own version of the truth, based off what happened ~ that night two years ago ~ and they don't know it, until the pieces come together at the end of arc two. basically, everyone has a side of the story.

- Nina: identity reveal, what is fear?, daddy issues, the martyr, you don't need powers to be a badass

- Danae: action girl, the braincell of the group, The Boss, i leave you alone for two minutes and you did what???

- Atticus: cool scar bro, the martyr, the black sheep, i've never communicated a day in my life,

I could see him being a face holder, in the sense that he does it to reassure himself that you’re okay and make sure he has your undivided attention. 

Since getting injured in Carentan, you hadn’t been as close to the frontlines as you had been, so when you were needed you are REALLY NEEDED, 

and even if he didn’t like it Gene knew you were the best at what you did. 

Gene also feels better if he knows where you are.

 Even when you eventually return to Easy, he will feel better knowing which Foxhole you’re in, and knowing he’s seen to it your first aid kit was fully stocked.

Liebgott: 

THAT FUCKER’S SMIRKING AT YOU SO OPENLY that whoever he had been talking to instantly goes

And he won’t even ANSWER because he’s already shoving past them to walk up and eye you with obvious satisfaction.

If its downtime and you guys don’t have to be on your guard he’ll ABSOLUTELY wolf whistle in at you, 

You’ll see a stupid grin lighting up his face as he nods in your direction.
