imagine if Bernard had fourth wall breaking abilities but he only ever used it to give pointed looks at the reader
he’s not using it be a vigilante or to cheat at life, he’s simply enjoying the fact he’s a comic character and being a little shit (also acting like his fav comic characters cause he’s a nerd)
#he’ll every now and then wink#give the read the finger#etc etc#idk I think it’d be hilarious#bernard would love deadpool#bernard dowd#my brain

Santa Clauses S2 E5 spoilers:
I will say watching deadpool 2, then immediately watching The Santa Clauses is such a shift.
Anyways, spoilers are below for episode 5
We love daddy issues Kriss
BETTY!
Tim Allen is coming up with every excuse not to wear the fat suit.
YASSSS "look into my eyes What's do you see" "It's cold and its dark" that's the line from the second clause!
BETTY'S BACK!
Couple goals
Noooo, Betty, no leaving!
Being head elf must come with magic sass
Cal loving Riley ears is just so I grew in the north pole of him
Olga is me on a mental level
Will we ever get a like in-depth explanation of Claus magic powers? Seeing visions?
Mad santa started naughty coal, bet the poor families in the winter were actually thankful
Cal is talking to the reindeer, but still no Chet
Bernard acting like a head elf even before being head elf, honestly expecting nothing else.
The CIA elfs make me so happy.
"Being banished to the wobbly woods forever" that is the last line in the Elf Clause. Any elf that goes against Santa get banished
I want to know what Edie did to be above Gary. I do respect that Olga wants to maim Gary more than Santa scott. (Also, now I finished the fact that Betty is after Toots is impressive considering what she did)
STOP...... oh my god, I hate it. Scott is getting his powers back but facial hair first. I agree Carol he's about to sell me something. Or looks like the mayor of monopoly.
Betty and I think the same thoughts apparently because she just said what I just wrote (I'm pausing to write my thoughts)
I'm sorry I can't take this seriously
LA befana really out here being like, "Here's something to kill the bastard but it wasn't me"
I also agree she is a legendary figure? Yes, I know she's known in Italy and even celebrated down there still, but I didn't even know her till doing my own research who this christmas witch was. Then again, she's a legend in Italy, sooo. Does that mean mothman exists or Bigfoot?
Me too, emotional moments make me scared, too
....
....
....
She turned the easterbunny into a lemon
WeLl wHeN LiFe GiVeS YoU LeMoNs
Sandra, you don't speak fruit? I thought you had the internet up there.
They are closing the vortexes, and Cal is flying the sleigh
Elfs fighting with kazoos is my Romain Empire. I also feel like they played the kazoo kid song
I want to know the legendary figure legal department because who even writes these clauses?
I feel like mixing that much legendary figure magic is not a good thing, oh my god.
Hahahahha *removes mask* gasp it's you! Dude you don't even know her name, you can even get your head elfs name right.
Oh my god, I just need to watch the show and stop pausing because the next thing he said is that.
Noel being a simp
HAHHAHAHA Noel is now cannon "not bernard"
"Legendaries have no power against other legendaries." HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN ALREADY SANTA USING SANDMANS OWN SAND ON HIM. That it's my only peace of mind is sandman sand didn't actually affect him he just wanted an excuse to sleep.
And the fat suit back.
Cal your two brain cells are fighting for Dominance
Cal turning into a therapist someone get Neil!
Ha he called 911
HAHAHA he ripped it. Again, I want to know who writes these clauses. ALSO, COULD HE HAVE DONE THAT THE WHOLE TIME?!?!(I doubt Bernard would of let him)
That's some strong ducktape
NOOOOOOO Cal! I was starting to like the golden retriever
Scott and Carol are also couple goals
And she has a bazooka
And of course, it ends like that. Time to wait another week.
So thoughts?
Season 2, so far, has been better than season 1, as season 1 felt like a rewrite of the 3rd movie. This second season is bringing back reference to the movies. With Judy, Jack frost, carols eyes of darkness, etc. Cal is finally finding his footing, and Sandra is coming into her own. Hopefully, Scott finally opens his damn eyes to his children for once and sees that Cal wants to be his own person. Maybe only do Santa part-time instead of just taking over completely. See you all for episode 6.

Ahh sorry for taking long! I had like no answer for most of the questions so I waited.
Top 3 ships:
Ok prefacing this by saying they're very dependent on what fandoms I'm in/things I'm arbitrarily obsessed with atm
So
Also these are in no particular order lol I like so many ships rn these are the ones I want to talk about though.
1. Jedtavius. Yes, the miniatures of the roman general and the cowboy from the Night at the Museum film series. You heard me. I just like how their relationship evolved, how protective they are of each other! "I won't quit you" is ingrained in my memory. I love that franchise.
2. Peter Parker/Jack Hammer. As in Weasel. As in the bartender from the Deadpool films. Listen- they have history in the comics and it's so funny??? And also fucked?? There's like 3 people (me included) who like these two together.
3. MattFoggy. I believe in the inherent homoeroticism of joking about marrying your **checks writing on my palm** best friend. They're just so- ugh. It's not so subtle. I could go on for HOURS but I'll spare you.
Honorary mentions for: MattFoggyMarci, SpideyPool, Frank Castle/Marc Spector, Jake Lockley/DuChamp.
Sorry about the lack of DC ships, I just need to read more about them. I do like Tim/Bernard, though I seem to be in the minority here.
First ever ship:
Firstly I thought this said *Favorite* ship, which is why I didn't include Peter/Gwen/MJ in the list above... I could fix it but it's funnier this way. That's my fav ship, full N1.
Onto my first ship, I vividly remember waiting patiently for Aelita and Jeremy (from Code Lyoko) to get their shit together and kiss. I'm sure there were earlier ones but I do not remember, unfortunately.
Last song:
"IDK If I'm a Boy" by Blue Foster (I *am* my own special kind of loser :))
Last movie:
I just finished "Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons". Had a lot more fun than I thought I would! I didn't love the art style and some of the design I hated, but the characterizations were nice and I laughed way too much at the jokes. They were just timed so perfectly ("Can't see Kent" had me fucking crying)
Currently reading:
-"We were liars" (paused because... Fuck man, no one warned me about the incest plot line)
-"Dirk Gently's holistic agency "(I am constantly confused! I love it!!)
Currently consuming:
Uuuh my own saliva, I suppose lol
Currently craving:
Gosh I want some liquorice gummies so much. I'm always craving those. Also I bought my dad honey w truffle and orange peel, and it was so good w cheese (we ate it on the 26th of December) I want more!!
No pressure of course uuh I don't think I have 9 people...
@murasakikou42 @coollizzylou @wolfsbanesparks @just-a-beautiful-fuckup
Yeah that's about it

We need some standards here people. I need things to be better
to what extent is this blog me? i need it to not be me so that i can criticize it uncompromisingly. and it kind of isn't because even i'm not me. i'm (gestures vaguely) over there somewhere alternately asleep and receiving information about myself with abject horror. but it also has to be me a little bit or else what do i care what's even on it. i mean sometimes i'm like "this is not for anyone else's benefit i just like to laugh at things" but usually it's more like "there is probably some benefit to using social media semi-socially!" so that's cleared up. on to the uncompromising criticism:
Post 1: “IF YOU’RE NOT CHICKEN POST THIS ON YOUR PAGE AND SEE WHAT PEOPLE RATE YOU!!!!!!” This I think is unimpeachable. I have this one twice (once to rate Grace, once to rate B, which was pretty easy actually both times) but it’s worth looking at twice I think and it makes things more interesting to do this with the platform a little differently.
Post 2: Video of a dog getting squished by a door. This is like… evocative? But I need to stop tagging everything “oh no.” And it might be overly sad? Like, in a cynical pessimistic miserable way? Live, suffer and die? “I am a dog and God is closing an automatic door on me over and over?” Why is the door closing when the dog is laying there anyway, shouldn’t it sense that something’s there? Maybe the dog is not heavy enough to register in that way. So good, but should probably should have had more meaning wrung out of it somehow.
Post 3: The See What People Rate You again.
Post 4: Original text post, “at least i don’t foolishly rely on happiness to make me happy” abstractly sadposting? Some of the background noise in my head. Probably more sad and abstract than absolutely necessary.
Post 5: This is where it starts to fall apart. I like the idea but in practice it’s just kind of a non-sequitur? If Deadpool was running from something that it made more sense to run from it might seem more meaningful. TBH I probably just reblogged it because it reminded me of this John Darnielle quote about Up the Wolves: “The direction in which you’re headed is not the direction in which you want to go, yet you’re going to head that way a while longer anyway cause that’s just the kind of person you are.”
Post 6: Youtube screenshot: “Awww shittttd!!!!! Escaping the cops and teaching you how to double-clutch” This is fairly broad humor? I can see how this might have given him the wrong idea. I do think it’s funny. But you kind of have to view it ironically to really find it funny? It lacks sincerity, overall. Who knows
Post 7: “me: *thinks back to a childhood memory* / me: someone….. probably should have been a little worried.” Pretty generic but nonetheless relatable. Yeah I’m overusing “#oh no.”
Post 8: This is like… a non-joke? A joke for people to not-laugh at? Stimulating without being meaningful. And, using this dialogue as background audio just because it's easy to make fun of. 1.5/5.
Post 9: Classic banter between some lads. Good reaction image. It’s not like goooood though? It feels like a bit of a space-filler.
Post 10: “tumblr user: *sees japanese strawberry milk* o fuck i cant not reblog that” ngl, this is pretty hard to analyze.
Post 11: ASCII cat holding umbrella for other ASCII cat. I just really like this gif. The street sign thing (?) on the left is kind of distracting though? It helps anchor the image in a kind of a place but also draws attention to the overall lack of detail and the fact that there’s no background.
Post 13: Obviously this was a thing that I needed to do. However the compliments I gave were kind of aloof and lofty? Abstract even? Impersonal? Problematic.
Post 14: Eroded lamb grave markers. I think it’s art.
Post 15: “I got the most relatable spam email: Hi/1 quastion/Hi I need To be loved.” Is this why I have this Tumblr? Is this what I think I'm accomplishing by writing this very essay? Aside from the fact that it's Saturday night?
Axes of criticism: Overly broad, too insincere, stimulating but meaningless. These... are not real criticisms I suspect? This is like the superficial stuff. Looking at a blog: "It's no different, really, from meeting another person. One has a reaction to the person physically. Also, there’s a metaphysical thing, and if a meeting of people is meaningful, it affects both their lives." (Bernard Newman said this about a painting once but I'm stealing it for this.) But the sense of that is what's missing. This blog may be difficult to sync up with. For probably the same reason as why I've never had a popular post. I don't want to have a popular blog with popular posts but I would dearly love just to understand why exactly I don't. Probably because I don't self-actualize enough? At the very least on here? I don't really leave myself super open to being understood at all

Wednesday Roundup
*long deep sigh*
Okay, I said last week I was going to cancel all Marvel subscriptions in response to the bullcrap that was revealed in Secret Empire. And I continue to firmly stand on not supporting Marvel on any decisions involving that catastrophe. But I must go back on my word. After discussing with friends and others about the best course of action, I am afraid that Marvel set things up -- what with the anti-diversity talks just a few weeks ago -- to make it seem as though any boycotts that would come about due to the Hydra revelations last week would be scapegoated to the titles that are doing the opposite. So I want to support titles that do just that -- titles like Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur -- so long as their book isn’t involved with the crossover and if their authors don’t seem to have much involvement either.
... also I pre-ordered Deadpool Vol. 6 for a specific reason that I’ll get into in the review.
All that out of the way, let’s get into the comics this week~
DC’s Batman Beyond, Marvel’s Deadpool, DC’s Detective Comics, Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, DC’s Wonder Woman
DC’s Batman Beyond (2016- ) #7 Dan Jurgens, Bernard Chang, Marcello Maiolo
*long heralding sigh* We can’t leave well enough alone, can we, DC?
The continuity of Batman Beyond has somewhat been in the toilet from the start. Anything which got its start thanks to the awfulness that was Futures End was sort of doomed to that, especially since they were trying to make that the canon ending of the DCU proper, while at the same time drawing in elements from the animated series.
This book, though, honestly gave me a lot of hope for what it was doing, which was to focus on the characters pretty specifically from the DCAU Batman Beyond cartoon and growing their stories and relationships rather than focusing on trying to put itself too immediately in the Earth Prime timeline.
And those moments from this issue are great. We get more Max and Bruce interactions, which I love. We get some actual growth of Dana and Terry’s relationship. Curare is still one of my favorite villains. Matt’s increased role excites me.
And then we get this fucking page.
I have a bad history with DC splash pages of “our family history” already (see any of my Batgirl (2009-2011) rants), but this one just goes straight for the throat. Sorry literally every woman in the Batfamily ever. I mean, usually at least Barbara gets a shoutout but not even that this time around. And then the worst offense is that Damian and Duke are both whitewashed. What the actual fuck.
This entire page is a disaster, especially since we are very obviously just using it to foreshadow that the leader of the League of Assassins has to do with Damian, because godforbid anyone but the biological child be treated special.
Oh, sorry. Biological male child. Or else we’d see some plots with Helena Wayne, couldn’t have that.
Oh, Batman Beyond. Why must you hurt me the way you do. I was enjoying you so much too.
Marvel’s Deadpool (2015- ) Volume 6: Patience: Zero Gerry Duggan, Matted Lolli, Scott Koblish, Guru-eFX
So I’ve obviously made some exceptions to my Marvel rule and that is simply a case-by-case basis. There are stronger reasons for the other exception this week, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, which I would honestly be devastated if it was taken down because of this monumental grossness that is Marvel right now because it’s the epitome of everything that’s not the Secret Empire catastrophe.
The other is Deadpool because I pre-ordered this volume months ago and because Deadpool is just a weird exception of a comic to begin with. At least as Deadpool is written under Gerry Duggan and how these particular issues especially are written.
So yes, while I would recommend all the issues in this trade to comic fans, the issue I really bought this volume for is for a very personal reason: #20 is the issue dealing with suicide and mental illness and... as someone who struggles on this road in my own life, in both point of views we have here, I am... very particular about how these issues are approached. I hate the way it was handled in Robin (1993-2009), despise the way it was portrayed in All-Star Superman, I just honestly don’t feel like I’ve ever read a story -- especially in comics -- that spoke to me and made me feel like I benefited from it the way the comics were obviously trying to make me feel.
Deadpool goes the most realistic route I’ve ever seen this handled. It’s about “death is permanent, so let’s make sure there’s nothing else you want to do first” It’s about helping someone out, giving them other things to focus on in the moment, giving them more to experience, and then knowing when professional help is needed, when you’re beyond your means.
And it’s hard. Deadpool says it best -- unkilling someone is way harder. And I’ve never felt an issue strike such a cord with me before.
Of course, that’s only one of several issues collected, and we finally get the climax and our answers with Madcap. The entire storyline was rediculous, dramatic, frightening, and any range of emotions between. A great story overall even if anything involving Hydra -- especially Bob -- inherently sickens me at this point.
If you’re on that level with me on the Hydra stuff, I would recommend buying #20 on its own and then #25 to finish up the Deadpool 2099 story which, for me, had a good conclusion to it.
But yeah. This was a splurge purchase at least partially because... I have a feeling I won’t be picking up the next few trades of Deadpool flat out, honestly. Lots of Secret Empire this way comes. And I’m not happy about it. Hopefully I can pick up Vol. 8 or 9 and we can get back to Deadpool and Ellie and Preston and everything that makes me love this comic to begin with.
DC’s Detective Comics (2016- ) #955 James Tynion IV, Marcio Takara, Marcello Maiolo
CASS HAS A GIRLFRIEND BALLERINA AND SHE APOLOGIZED AND ALL IS GOOD AND NOT AN ORPHAN ANYMORE BE STILL MY HEART
OKAY. So that’s out of my system. Last time (two weeks ago) I went into a full on rant about how there are things I Love about Tynion’s writing -- relationships, character building, the sense of family, understanding how to write Cass the way few writers other than her creators have truly gotten -- and things I Hate about Tynion’s writing -- an overall lack of build up for payoff, weak plots, a bit of a ‘break the status quo’ mentality despite a lack of building said status quo -- there are Things. And I can make entire essays about how I feel he needs to grow as a writer especially when it comes to writing mysteries which is what Detective Comics should be at its core.
I’m putting that aside for now -- still there, I still have my issues with this arc -- but this issue is... It’s going to be a milestone.
It’s going to be a milestone in bringing Cass’ character back into full form. And I loved every moment of it. The pacing was still.... ehhh. Could’ve probably benefited more from immediately starting with the flashback explaining Cass’ recovery and reintroducing our ballerina girlfriend, then launching into the present time uninterrupted. Maybe show Cass rescuing the others from their naked Hell, because as far as I can tell that just means we’re going to have another disorganized flashback in the next issue which isn’t making me excited because that should be the finale to all of this.
Yatta yatta. Critical lenses are on, everyone, don’t worry. I’m still the Rena you know.
I just don’t care as much because those things I Love that I mentioned? They where here and they were with my favorite characters. And ALSO???? Tynion planted the seed of the ballerina and Cass living above the studio many issues ago??? And then actually gave us payoff for it??? What is this, a personal letter to me?
Nah, can’t be. No windows were broken in this issue.
I enjoyed myself is what I’m getting at. It’s amazing how I can be really irritated with Detective Comics and then all the sudden it drags me right back in with an issue that gets me just right.
Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur (2015- ) #18 Amy Reeder, Brandon Montclare, Natacha Bustos, Tamra Bonvillain
So i’ve dropped some books in my personal Marvel ban, and I will be avoiding anything remotely related to Secret Empire like the plague, and I still encourage other people to do the same. But there are some books, some ideas, some diversity in the Marvel lineup that for me are simply just too important to throw out with the bathwater.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur is 1000% a book I want to survive Marvel’s current tirefire.
And since Marvel curiously made it clear that they were going to throw their diversity titles under the bus and blame them for any loss of sales this summer just before knowingly putting out a terribly controversial book, I can’t help but allow my suspicions to rise.
Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur continues to be the best of the genre and the first book I recommend to kids -- which is something I do quite a lot. If you’ve been following my blog for a while you’ll know that I am very active in trying to get new, young readers into comics and have personally given out comics to kids in and out of the country. It’s something that is very important to me, having been raised with comics myself.
So I am very happy to go back on my word for titles like Moon Girl and I’m so glad that a book so inviting and loving is around in the disaster that is the larger comic landscape for the Marvel Universe.
DC’s Wonder Woman (2016- ) #21 Greg Rucka, Liam Sharp, Laura Martin
Considering how vocally I have been annoyed with the “B story” of this Wonder Woman run thus far, it’s a real relief to finally be able to say, as the storylines converge and we come sadly closer to the end of Rucka’s return to Wonder Woman, finally this slow burn has been worth it. And this moment I chose in particular -- Veronica Cale at long last taking Diana’s hand -- is so built up, is so necessary that it makes everything truly feel like it’s deservedly come full circle.
And Cale’s motivations in Rebirth fit so much better than they did in the Post-Crisis comics, it makes everything about this confrontation and this conclusion worthwhile.
Though there’s still a lot to be fixed in terms of Rucka’s more... tone deaf treatment of earlier racist tropes and so on that have proven to be basically completely unnecessary to this plot. That’s a pretty gross road to end up going down for no reason.
And finally we get to Ares. And maybe it’s the animal lover in me but I’m like “those poor Dobermen, hope they still have a home with Cale after the twin gods’ souls are released.
... Look we all know I’m going to pick Detective Comics for my pick of the week this week because I’m a sheep and it hit everything I wanted from an issue of Detective Comics including giving us more Cass-Ballerina action and having a fanciful callout to Phantom of the Opera that made my heart soar.
But I would, for this week, also like to provide a secondary pick for Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur for being not just a fantastic book (which it is) but continuing to provide a bright light at the end of a very, very long and dark tunnel that is the Marvel Universe. It is the Marvel of tomorrow if they could just stop with their bullshit. Which, because it’s Marvel, they probably won’t.
But these are just my thoughts and opinions, I’d love to hear from all of you. What did you think of this week? Any good titles I’m not picking up? I’d love to hear from you

'La La Land' sweeps 89th Oscar nominations plus interesting snubs
As no surprise, “La La Land” swept the 89th Oscar nominations with 14 tying it with “Titanic” and that classic Bette Davis film “All About Eve.” Not bad company, and no one will be surprised if it sweeps in wins as this is the type of wistful dreamy film that many people in the country need right now.
As Academy Award historians can show, Oscar-winning films normally show the temperature of the political climate in the country. When the country is in turmoil, many times, fantasy films that take you away win the top prize.
“Moonlight” and “Arrival” were behind with eight nominations each. The #OscarsSoWhite campaign has made some impact as 35 percent of this year’s acting nominees are people of color. This includes prior winners Denzel Washington (“Fences”) and Octavia Spencer (“Hidden Figures”).
Mel Gibson has officially made it back into Hollywood’s embrace after a few controversies, but we know that town loves a second, third and fourth act.
As happens every year, there are always surprising snubs and nominations no one saw coming. That’s what makes the awards most fun, the surprises of lesser known films getting recognition.
You can also see the complete list of 2017 Oscar Nomination further down.
2017 Top Oscar Snubs and Surprises
SNUB: “Deadpool” In the end, Oscar voters got cold feet when it came to recognizing the 20th Century Fox mega-hit starring Ryan Reynolds as a disfigured mercenary with the power to heal himself. If it had made the cut, “Deadpool” would have been the first comic book movie to crash the best picture race. But sadly, “Deadpool” got shut out of the Oscars race completely, ending up with fewer nominations than “Suicide Squad” (best makeup) and “Doctor Strange” (visual effects).
SNUB: Amy Adams, “Arrival” The five-time Oscar nominee was left out of the best actress category, even though “Arrival” scored eight nominations overall, including best picture, director (Denis Villeneuve) and adapted screenplay. It’s possible that Adams, who also had a lead role in “Nocturnal Animals,” divided her own vote, allowing for Isabelle Huppert (“Elle”) and Ruth Negga (“Loving”) to zoom past her.
SNUB: Annette Bening, “20th Century Women” It wasn’t a great year for the Beatty-Bening household. Warren’s “Rules Don’t Apply” wilted at the box office, and Bening, who was thought to be a lock in the best actress race early in the season, got pushed out of this year’s unusually competitive category for her portrait of an eccentric single mom.
SNUB: Tom Hanks, “Sully” It’s one of the strange mysteries of the Oscars that Hanks, who has two wins but hasn’t been nominated in 16 years (since “Cast Away”), wasn’t included among the acting nominees for playing “Miracle on the Hudson” hero Sully Sullenberger. The movie was a box-office hit, and director Clint Eastwood is usually an Academy Awards darling.
SNUB: Hugh Grant, “Florence Foster Jenkins” Many predicted that Grant would earn his first Oscar nomination ever for playing the husband of a terrible opera warbler. But the Paramount comedy was less of an Oscar movie than a showcase for Meryl Streep.
SNUB: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, “Nocturnal Animals” Winning the Golden Globe for best supporting actor for playing a rogue bad guy gave Taylor-Johnson a boost just as ballots were being filled out. Yet Oscar voters preferred his co-star Michael Shannon, who portrays a no-nonsense sheriff in the Tom Ford thriller.
SNUB: Martin Scorsese, “Silence” Scorsese has been nominated for best director eight times, but Oscar voters were indifferent to “Silence.” The drama about Jesuit priests in Japan received only a lone nod for best cinematography.
SNUB: “Finding Dory” In 2004, “Finding Nemo” became the first Pixar movie to win an Oscar for best animated feature. Its sequel, “Finding Dory,” was overlooked in favor of other Disney favorites (“Zootopia” and “Moana”).
SNUB: “Weiner” The Sundance documentary about Anthony Weiner’s failed New York mayoral race was a favorite all year long. Then came the election. Weiner’s role in possibly spoiling the presidency for Hillary Clinton may have alienated voters from celebrating a movie about his downfall.
SURPRISE: Ruth Negga, “Loving” At last year’s Cannes Film Festival, Negga was crowned an instant Oscar contender, for her nuanced performance as half of an interracial couple behind an influential 1967 Supreme Court Case. But the competitiveness of the best actress category — with the likes of Annette Bening and Amy Adams — made her more of a longshot on pundits’ list as the season progressed.
SURPRISE: Michael Shannon, “Nocturnal Animals” After a strong reception at Toronto, “Nocturnal Animals” faded from the awards conversation. But when the movie re-emerged at the Golden Globes, it was in the form of a win for Aaron Taylor-Johnson. So that Shannon ended up squeaking into the best-supporting actor race is a surprise. This marks his second Oscar nomination, after 2008’s “Revolutionary Road.”
SURPRISE: Mel Gibson, “Hacksaw Ridge” Gibson’s comeback story is now official, given that the “Braveheart” winner is back in the best director race for his World War II drama.
