Green Street” by #GrantGreen was recorded at the Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey featuring Green on guitar, #BenTucker on bass and #DaveBailey on drums. It’s a little different than his “Grant’s First Stand” because he replaced #BabyFaceWhillette and his jump’n organ with Ben Tucker and his bass. But this album is far from disappointment and Tucker’s bass augments Green’s playing note for note. This is an Analogue Productions 2-LP 45 RPM reissue that sounds awesome the opening track “No. 1 Green Street” until the closing track “Alone Together”. I always see comparisons of Grant Green to the great #CharlieChristian which there was also the same comparisons laid on #WesMontgomery, #KennyBurrell and #BarneyKessel to Christian as well. 唐突ですが、Sonny Stitt祭り最終章です。 思えば2013年の今頃に集め始めたスティットのレコードですが、何故か一枚だけ中古屋でもヤフオクでも見つからないアルバムがありました。 それがこれ。 理由は分かりません。 本当にレアなのかもしれませんし、単に不人気なのかもしれませんし、或いはアホ程あるスティットのアルバムの中で偶々縁がなかったのかもしれません。 兎に角手に入らなかったので、今年の3月にエイヤッとDiscogsで取り寄せちゃいました。 ガキの頃にハマったウルトラマンカードの最終注文を思い出しましたねえ。 65年という録音時期からしてR&B寄りの内容かと思いきや、普通の4ビートでした。 ロイ・ヘインズ、ハロルド・メイバーン、ベン・タッカーというサイドメンはかなりそそられると思うのですが、マイナーなのが不思議。 演奏は良くも悪くも鉄板。 ザ・通常営業。 でも、これでいいんです。 金太郎飴のように安定した演奏が魅力のスティットです。 コレクションの最後の一枚に相応しい内容で非常に満足しました。 敢えてモノ盤を選んだのも正解。 モノ針で聴いたら良い音で鳴りましたよ。 皆さん、いままでありがとうございました。 長かった旅もようやく終わりです。 …と、思いきや。 （続く） #sonnystitt祭り #sonnystitt #royhaynes #haroldmabern #bentucker #jazz #jazzvinyl #saxophone #jazzsax #jazzsaxophone https://www.instagram.com/p/BykriygJH4n/?igshid=1c5q5sz4yf8p9
