Benen’s wildly different dynamic with their partners is so funny to me. With Gale they’re trying to flirt but because they’re an Autistic Wizard Of All Time and so is he this amounts to talking about magic with him a lot and and being slightly competitive about it and expecting this to register as flirting (it does not), and then when this doesn’t work they just. Telepathically beam him an image of them kissing him. And look, he’s into this, but there is a reason he is convinced that this came out of godsdamned nowhere.

Meanwhile, they keep saying the most flirtatious things possible to Astarion and they are still entirely in denial that they have intentions other than academic interest. Their dynamic started as “local necromancer attempts to plot how to improve vampire spawn’s unlife as the first proper test of their capabilities since they graduated,” and as far as Benen’s concerned, that’s still exactly what this is. Nevermind that every time he goes on his amazing villainous-dork rambles it’s absolutely awakening something in them. Nevermind that he broke his mirror and they responded by staring wordlessly at him until he said something, volunteering to be his mirror, and then immediately complimenting him on something not-conventionally-attractive.

It’s 100% “me and the bad bitches I pulled by being autistic” except for Astarion who’s just so weird and traumatized that he somehow started throwing off whatever metaphysical pheromones attract interpersonally inept wizards. Not one of these people knows how to have a normal social interaction. Somehow out of all three of them, Benen is the one with the highest charisma.

my room is so cluttered rn but it's so like cartoonishly cluttered. im like a fucking cartoon character. clearing my wooden case of oil pastels & my 120 year old tattered gilded french dictionary & my fountain pens off my bed and onto my steamer trunk, which is piled high with noir novels & poetry books & 80s goth cds, which dont fit on any of my six bookshelves. my harp is blocking two of those bookshelves. there are three discrete statuettes of jeanne d'arc scattered around the room. hello.

He was not above any gossip of any kind, what so ever, and okay, he had to admit he participated. ACTUALLY, there's quite a rumor mill that comes up about Clint Barton given his reputation that preceded him. Chaos on the ship and it's not outer interference ⸺ Clint came up.

PETER COMING UP? ⸺ AT ALL? ⸻ All his overprotective tendencies kicked into high gear and than SOMEONE IS HITTING ON PETER ⸻ Jealousy and insecurity boil up too.

Peter's not the best with recognizing advances or saying no, and remember that thing about Clint being insecure and easily made jealous? ⸻ And there had been one blue shirt from another deck that always happened to conveniently end up in engineering.

TALK IN STUPID CIRCLES ⸻ Superiority complex, and sat down with Peter and a few others yesterdays. Turned their stupid nose up at Clint and rolled their eyes when he signed a joke to Peter (he just liked making him smile and laugh; even if it's a little distracting and interrupting).

Okay, so he was jealous and the insecurity came from a lost list of personal cons. Just because things were going so well, years into their relationship, doesn't mean it couldn't all fall apart. He's generally a mess, space is not his favorite to be, a sober alcoholic whose urge to drink never really went away, and he's got a bad habit of insubordination. That's not normally anyone's green flags.

Maybe he's just needs to go remind everyone he makes Peter and he is his, and to remember to respect that Clint's the guy. Peter's guy and he'd liked to keep it that way.
