Things I wish we could had in season 3

(but that wasn't possible to show for various reasons). This is not a critique, just to be clear. They showed us what they were confortable doing and that's the important part. But with our mind we can imagine different scenario...

I actually like that the mirror scene is their first time. But in another version of it Colin takes its time to talk her through, showing her through the mirror and let her ask stuff. "Colin... What is this wetness I feel?" And he chuckles "it's your body way of showing arousal, my dear. It is to prepare you to take me".

While we are talking about this, they have the time to do multiple round and of course in one of them he eats her out 👅 before inserting himself. He does say the "you may feel pain" but she doesn't actually feel pain and it is possible to see on her face. She is so wet she just feels a bit of a stretch but it's wonderful and full.

Of course the modiste scene plays a little different. No horse in sight, just Colin "God give us fingers and I'll use them often" Bridgerton, before actually putting in the real work, keeping Pen at the right height with his arms while he makes all Mayfair hear how much she is enjoying herself. Genevieve appreciate the show, I'm sure.

Pen of course gets her moment on top. Colin "boob are all I need to survive" gets to action as well, with his lips and tongue. He also rolls those nipples with his fingers (again, excellent use) until she is crying in the best way from all the stimulation she is feeling.

How do they resolve Whistledown in this version? I'm so glad you asked. It starts with S and ends with panking; yes, Colin would have his doubts in the beginning, but then he watches how much Pen wants to be forgiven and it becomes an act of forgiveness in between them. "I feel like I need to be punished, Colin" even though she doesn't understand yet this kind of urges. But Colin does and he finds out it's liberating also for him.

There is a space also for Ben and the tenderness of discovering the other side of the road that comes with exploring your own sexuality. Paul preparing him, while Ben looks at Tilly, a look of wonder and pleasure in his eyes.

Finally, a Kanthony scene. Kate is dressed, and it's clear she is edging the sh*t out of Anthony while whispering nasty things in his ear. "I told you not to vex me so much, my love". Anthony has to answer charades and for every right answer, Kate gracefully goes to her knees and pleasure Anthony until he is at his limit (and then again and again until he can't anymore).

Let's start here: I love Benedict. I love that he is queer. I love that he's a bit messy. I love that he's creative. I love that he shows affection and care easily.

I, at the same time, thought his through line this season was overdone. I would have easily traded 5 minutes of Benedict's time with Tilly and/or Paul for 5 minutes of happy or at least working together Polin.

I have multiple reasons for this:

-Tilly was never endgame. I just could not emotionally invest in her. Neither could Benedict apparently.

-This was Penelope's sexual awakening even more so than Benedict's. A woman going from no knowledge to understanding herself as a sexual being is a lovely journey when we get to see it.

-Benedict only grew in his sexual horizons this season, but I yearned to see him begin to draw and paint again. Being an artist is a KEY part of Benedict's core personality.

-The interspersing of scenes where Benedict was having nakey fun times was rather, I don't know? Rude? Misplaced? Distracting? Like it's Benedict play time while Polin is fighting or having their wedding or whatever. It just felt tonally whiplashy.

Anyways, I love Benedict, but I would have liked less of the Tilly mess in exchange for other items. That's all.

Bi Benedict Bridgerton means everything to me ngl. Like it has been SO far coming and yet I always feared this day would never come and yet. Here we are. Here he is. Was, at least.

Comfortably in bed with another man, realizing he was allowed to want it and not just witness other people doing. Like he was so content with Tilly and Paul.

(Which is why I had to pause when Tilly was like "Actually let's go back to it being just us I want to be serious." Like she knows she allowed him THE forbidden fruit and now she wants to take it away? Doesn't work like that ma'am.)

I kinda wonder if his season is going to be an OT3 season now with all the "abundance of love" talk. They were definitely setting up poly Ben.

(just to be clear, this is not an attack on anyone's headcanons, and the following is entirely my own opinion and interpretation, and not meant to be taken as the only possible explanation/interpretation)

so I know the general consensus is that Benedict is bi, but I feel like pan is a better label. I'm generally not a fan of ascribing modern labels of sexuality to historical figures or characters given the nature and evolution of sexuality and gender concepts. But pan just feels like a better label for benedict.

like all things with sexuality the label pansexual can mean different things to different people, but the way I understand pansexuality, and its difference to bisexuality, is that it is both a more open term for attraction, and that bisexuality tends to denote attraction to multiple genders, whereas pansexuality can denote attraction divorced from gender (this is a personal interpretation, and is not meant to be taken as fact or a universal definition)

as for why I think it's a better label for Benedict, there are a few reasons. for starters, I think that Benedict isn't attracted to men and women, so much as he is attracted to people. he does live in regency era England, but Benedict does strike me as a man who has tried things. maybe never sex with a man before Paul, but I feel like if Benedict had a blanket attraction to men, he might have noticed before now (especially after his experience at the orgy in s1).

his conversation with Tillie, about not being attracted to every woman, and about two people's attraction regardless of gender strikes me less as accepting attraction to more than one gender, and more as removing gender from the equation.

and finally I think Benedict sums it up best in what he says to Tillie in ep8 "Paul could be Patricia, or Polly, or Peter, or all three at once." Benedict doesn't seem to have become aware of an attraction to all men in general, but of the possibility of attraction to specific men, and that this attraction has nothing to do with their gender, they are simply attractive

I just think that pansexual fits better as a label for Benedict than bisexual

Daily thread about BridgertonS3 and the people (thread + tumblr) have decided it's Benedict time. I want to take a few words to thank the *check notes* 120 people or so that followed me since the start of this journey, I welcome you in this space and I think this is a good thread to decide if you want to stick with me or not. Because judging from what I've seen around, mine is not a popular opinion, so if you are still here after this, thank you!

So, Benedict. Let's start by saying I'm not mad. But not even in the slightest. If I wasn't so invested in Polin, Benedict probably would have been my favorite storyline. I'm going to be honest, I have a proper bias around this. I'm not monogamous since I was like 16, and in whatever triangle you can think of, there is a good chance that my opinion is both.

I don't think Ben's scenes with Tilly and Paul were unnecessary. While we could argue that they could have been place in different part, the editing could have gone in another direction, more minutes could be added, those are all valid points. But, if you just take out the Benedict storyline on its own, there is nothing unnecessary about that. He learned a part of himself, how that can be unnecessary?

What I saw is a man who has learn something beautiful about himself. Something powerful and I bet quite scary (it is scary now, let alone back then). And yet, Benedict was able to overcome his own bias and give in to his curiosity. It a beautiful thing to witness. A thing that I was hoping was going to happen since season 1, because the seeds were there (trust me, I'm a destiel and a merthur shipper, the seeds were there).

My only concern with this storyline, it's that I hope they follow through, otherwise yes, looking back, those scenes will be considered a waste. And I'm not saying Sophie should not exist. On the contrary, I think Sophie should exist AND someone else should exist as well. That would mean the world to me.

Bridgerton has the chance to do what a very few shows had be able to pull off, and almost one of that with this kind of resonance. It would be a step in the right direction towards the acceptance and the recognition that there are multiple ways of love, and each one of them are valid.

I don't think they will go through it,let's be clear. But my heart holds a little hope that the time has come that showing a throuple or a different combination of people having a relationship is not such an impossible thing to do.

To be clear there are shows who did that. Sense8, the bastard son and the devil himself (watch it!), you me her, so it's not groundbreaking, but it would help greatly.

Love is endless and infinite. Loving two people (or more) doesn't mean your love is reduced by half or more. It means it doubles and expand. Being able to love multiple people had give me the chance to learn stuff about myself I would not learn in any other way, so I hope it will be the same for Benedict.

I hope you're still with me at the end of this. It's okay if you think about this in a different way, but I'm hoping I could give a glimpse of what an alternative view is like. And I'd like to conclude with three words that I have tattooed to remember always that my cardinal star is love. Amor vincit omnia.

While Bridgerton Season 3 tied a neat little bow on Colin and Penelope’s love story, the Netflix series left plenty for audiences to chew on as they wait for another installment.

Both Benedict (Luke Thompson) and Francesca (Hannah Dodd) appear to be poised to continue their love stories in Season 4, which was already greenlit in 2021.

Benedict in particular was left in a bit of a flux after declining Tilly Arnold’s proposal that the two of them settle down together. After exploring his sexuality with both Tilly and Paul, Benedict thinks he needs more freedom.

Maybe he does. Or, maybe, “you could argue that he’s been exploring,” Thompson tells Deadline. “It’s lovely to explore, but also putting down some roots and choosing something or someone also has huge value and excitement.”
