#i havent drawn them in a while ^_^ changed their hanfu a little so they only really wear the top half#and the leg shape as well.. i used doll joints in the past just so it wouldnt bother me drawing their leg bending but at this point idc#the red parts on their hanfu are meant to kinda visually mirror sailor's red rope.. something something bound by fate#and i opted for a ginkgo pattern this time around since i think its suits them better. coincidentally ginkgo also has medicinal properties#and i kept the marking frm when zah drew them because it really is such a nice touch that i wanna keep it in their design :)#and if we're going off the idea of sailor bringing them clothes to wear as souvenirs id bet he picked that pattern out since it#reminded him of xin lol. you can also see they have a little fish charm as their jin bu (sailor has a matching one)#they are so friends to me... i love them sm#still need to update their page a little since i overhauled some of their lore.. theres a whole slidedeck and everything lol#my art#myart#my oc#myoc#oc#xin ya#lmk#lmk oc#lego monkie kid oc#ref sheet#oc ref sheet#oc reference sheet#fur#furry art#furry

I'm so fascinated by how a well-worn pair of shoes tells you something about the person who's worn them
#gopher rambles#my workboots have a VERY specific wear pattern on the tread because of how i walk#ill maybe post an image of them tomorrow cause they're kinda dirty and need a cleaning#but basically the outer heel is worn down TO ALMOST NOTHING. like I hit with the outer side of my heel then roll to my big toe when walking#heel to toe. otherwise i walk/run/stand on the balls of my feet and thats the other wear pattern#the leather is also creased and wrinkled from the ankle mobility thing#and part of the plastic gasket (?) is cracked from bending at the toe so much

WE DID THE HILL A DAY EARLY
HELP
For context at band camp there's a really steep hill and when we march on the streets we go up and then down said hill, while playing etc
I'm not kidding it's probably a 70 degree angle and I know math stuff
I hate it so much because I have snare drum and I can't lift my knees very far without hitting the bottom of the drum so the entire percussion section is just struggling for like 30 feet
#im in so much pain#when i walk enough i go numb but i am now dealing with the consequences#also i got a mild sunburn todayy#and like 7 hours of sleep :')#i was literally about to cry before we started#it felt like my spine was going to collapse in on itself#and my lungs hurt in a weird way#and my ribs are cramping#the mild asthma that i keep forgetting i have has returned so im audibly wheezing a little#why why why why why#ow#everything hurts#and i can still hear the music in my head#typing out words sounds like percussion patterns now#i cant escape#im only halfway done with this#i still have a day and a half#i couldnt breathe while wearing my harness either bc it sits on my shoulders and then goes flat across my chest and stomach and stops#right before my hips so i can bend my legs#and the shoulder part is not made for my chest size#so i physically cant expand my lungs enough to take a decent breath#i thought i was gonna be lightheaded but i got lucky#oof i was ranting sorryyyy#potat rambles#marching band#band#band camp#potat's band chronicles

#there's something really beautiful about experiencing the weather patterns of a new place#where i live now. its not like where i grew up. not like the foothills of Appalachia but its more familiar than the Chihuahuan desert was#when i go home to ohio everythings so green. so green. unimaginably green and the towns are in the woods. the hills roll#and trees billow deciduous and packed so tightly the treeline is like a wall of plant matter. here there are trees but they are tall and#evergreen. patchy in places like shrubs in the desert. the grass grows green but also pale tan and dead. houses are routed in valleys#between mountains. they're made of wood and not stucco but they still look strange and the landscape is crumpled together tall. and there's#water. it rains. days can be dreary and gray with drizzle. i forgot what thats like. when a single low stratus cloud blocks out thewhole sk#and fog clings to the trees. my school bus used to drive by a lake where thr fog was so thick i didnt kno how the driver could see the road#but somehow i forgot how much joy suspended water vapor gives me living in a place where when it rains it pours so hard the streets flood#and the greedy ground drinks the landscape dry. but there are new things as well. here smoke rolls up over thr mountains and gets stuck in#the valleys so that the weather forcast reads: Smoke for days on end. im used to tornado warnings and heat warnings and dust storm warnings#but ive never expected Smoke as a type of weather. and im sure there's more to experience. ive only been here like 3 weeks. its not as gree#as home. the storms dont seem to get quite so violent. the woods are so full of bears that its an active threat. but its not the desert#and while ill miss the shapes of desert plants and little lizards. when i look up at the pine and spruce trees i feel like i can breathe a#little easier. well see how i feel once the long cold winter sets in haha#but i dunno. part of me still longs for a violent thunderstorm. one where u can feel the temperature drop and u csn feel it building all da#one that bends the trees and smells like ozone. it was never like that in thr southwest and im not sure that happens here#but maybe thats just a desire for chaos and violence as a product of my pathological internal control. i cant be spontaneous so let nature#bring the fear to me. some of my favorite memories are watching lightning strikes#so it goes i suppose#unrelated#listen. is it fucked up to have ohio nostalgia? maybe so. but in my defense i grew up in the pretty part of ohio lol

#my prof mentioned this in class yesterday and it’s something that i knew vaguely about#but hadn’t looked into too much at the time#but it’s interesting and horrifying to look back on it now esp with how this has been going on for so long#and the atrocities by israel mentioned in the article have been public knowledge for a long time#with widespread ramifications but people are still finding ways to justify their state#and ofc the atrocities by the us and the way that they’ve been walking hand in hand for a longggg time#idk how people can deny that both the us and israel are horrific colonial states if they look at it as a pattern . but ofc they still bend#over backwards to justify both#and the relationship that they have with each other as mutually beneficial arms of imperialism

not to be too philosophical on main but some of you people need to spend extensive time in therapy and unlearning your harmful behaviors before you should be allowed to seek closeness with others, for their sake
#I'm sorry that the commodification of therapy language has made some of you seek out excuses for shitty behavior in mental health issues#yes you're absolutely worth everything nice and your diagnosed or suspected mental disorder doesn't change that#no you can't use it as a leverage to be a piece of shit to your loved ones I'm sorry#because everything in life is a two way lane - romance friendship everything#and if people have to bend over backwards to fulfill your needs and wishes and expectations then sorry but you'll have to do the same#you'll have to sometimes accept the blame of fucking up and stop running away from it and hiding behind a diagnosis#or a suspicion of it existing#because a diagnosis is not an excuse it's a first step in understanding yourself and learning to live with your struggles#and as much as you want everything to cater to you other people won't#if you have a harmful patterns of behavior and you made multiple people suffer around you then put that damn phone down and do better#if you want to keep your loved ones close that is#idk it's so important to understand that you need to put effort too#and that you need to do better and get back to people whom you've hurt#but also that your behavior is the problem sometimes mental illness or not#and you can't expect other people to lose a sense of being human in order to keep you around#or tolerate your shit behavior endlessly#people around you matter as much as you do
