Camp Cretaceous screen shot redraws! I originally had a bunch more of these I wanted to do (and in fact I’ve posted one of these ones on its own already) and although I haven’t had the time to do the rest I’ve been getting sooo excited for Chaos Theory that I decided to just post the ones I did have done!

I need to know, how the crew reacted to the Nublar 6 new designs? Did you laugh? Felt like something was off? Did you all liked their new design? Had to have your own time to be used to it?

Yes I'm asking specially bc of Kenji's chin (why is it so Chad like? Lol)

I think overall the reception was positive -- also keep in mind not all of the crew on Chaos Theory have worked on Camp Cretaceous (there are even people who have never watched Camp Cretaceous. Not naming names.), so to some, these aren't grown-up versions of existing characters, but new characters. For the crew that knew their old designs the reception was also generally positive I think; Big Ben was the biggest (heh) hit that we all thought was hilarious, and all-pink-themed Brooklynn getting a pixie cut and also death was also exciting to see.

When we first saw the designs, they were William Nichols's 2D drawings, and we (storyboard artists) were working off of the character designs for quite a while before we actually saw the 3D models -- and there are definitely slight differences between the 3D models and the 2D designs. Kenji's chin didn't stand out to us in the design drawings -- but we did make comments about it in early animation we got back, particularly in season 1 episode 5 lol. But that's nothing in the designs that genuinely bothered us, otherwise we would have reported them to the team along with several things that did get reported, such as Ben's eye color and Ben's FIERY RED LIPS at the start of the show. (Why is it always Ben)

This is the beginning of the end, and this time we have a drastic shift from the previous two redesigns with like... and actual redesign of Water Hazard/orishan/Bivalvan- hmm... let's just call this Bivalvan because I've drawn him before :P

First of all- so many eyes. Clam eyes are so (relatively) freaky y'all, truly the 'people with blue eyes: *staring into your soul*' type energy, so of the 10 visible eyes, Bivalvan has an eye ring, an iris and a pupil :)

And what do I mean by only ten visible eyes, there's a lot more blue on this design than 10. That's because those aren't eyes, that's the colour of his flesh and thus, for every hole in the armour is a valve (hah!) for water flow and thus, breathing! Things like the muscles in the claws and hood and the foot visible between Bivalvan's legs and waist are for mobility, the tendons mainly for closing joints and creating a water tight seal, the foot for movement of the limbs.

Speaking of limbs, you can clearly see how different Bivalvan's legs are :) really putting in the cockroach of my personal biases. An orishan's hands are just claws akin to the ones that rest on their waist that rest inside the claw. And those claws are in fact water cannons :P

Idk about you but one of my favorite things about Lottienat is them absolutely keeping life and work separate until they cant anymore. They might be absolutely opposing each others philosophies and everything the other stands for at day but the moment theyre alone they act like nothing is wrong. Lottie can hurt nat so much with the decisions she makes as the prophet and nat can hurt her just as much with the decision she makes as antler queen/ hunter but the moment theyre given privacy none of it matters. No, it dosent mean that the decisions they make arent actually hurting the other. No, they dont discuss it. Theres a huge gap between how they fulfill their roles in the team and how they treat each other when theyre apart from the team, and its absolutely toxic and hurting them and killing them both a little from the inside. And no, they dont discuss it unless they absolutely have too, and no, the way they act in each scenario is not pretend. And they will only stop to bring their feelings towards each other into the way they fulfil their roles in the team if the other is in actual danger.

This is why nat being the antelr queen didnt work out- it put them on the same side, and theyre doomed to always be enemies by day and lovers by night.

while I absolutely NEED to see the scene of two re-disheveling himself after being horrifically…cleaned? for comedic purposes, it also really is so quintessentially the Doctor & everything the show is I guess. I never really picked up on this the first time watching the macra terror so maybe I’m just slow but already the obsession with this hard edge cleanliness shows the character of the colony so, so well. that the doctor is specifically singled out for being dirty because his clothes are unkempt; that they immediately try to remedy this; that the colonists - and ben, polly already! - loudly protest when he tried to go back to being himself, being filthy……..well.

Spider-Man AU

Basically, Tay gets her powers first but after a while retires from being your friendly neighbourhood spider woman.

Then a few months later the others collectively become spider-heros (all bitten by the same spider on the same day), and are under the impression Tay is the only one who didn't get bitten.

So Taylor mainly helps them create their suits and all the background stuff (which makes her feel slightly bittersweet, since the others seem so cool to her but she has to stay in the background to avoid getting her cover blown)

But one time when the group gets overwhelmed she goes to help them out in her old suit, and from then on she's part of the group, but they still have no idea who she is. (She uses it to mess around with the group alot, especially Tyler)

The image takes place before the others get bitten, so she's still the one and only spider-woman (although she doesn't think that name has a ring to it, and she's definitely wanting to change it now since there are now 4 spider men and 2 spider women 😭)

The portraits of younger heroes and villains in totally-not-EAH-and-SFGAE-rip-off Merlin Academy, if anyone's curious. And like, before anyone goes at me for that nickname for Merlin Academy: the villains group portrait literally has 'V.K students' under it, implying they themselves are children of villains, which just opens up the idea that these kids basically became evil like their parents before them and the only ones to not be evil are the prior Descendants main characters, aka, similar to main characters in EAH and SFGAE. At this point, Disney is losing their right to complain if EAH does ever return because the only one copying right now in Disney.

I keep imagining lucanis getting an accidental faceful of arterial spray during a job that didn't go so much awry as just slightly awkwardly right at the end, and having to get hosed down outside before coming home to the lighthouse. emotionally I feel the cartoonish blood splatters of dragon ages past and lucanis' resulting deep sleep-deprived peevishness in this chili's tonight

I am finally finished! I didn't go with ships and instead more of their personalities, so don't look too deep into how they are paired up. All six of them got in trouble together anyway, I would imagine.

Not sure if there's anything official- based only on a vaguely similar shape and location and seemingly supported by the map pictures released by Dreamworks TV recently, would Yaz's island be Frank Island in Yellowstone National Park? Only for JWE2 building reference purposes 😁

It's possible it was used for some visual inspiration, but I think the EXACT location in Wyoming was probably meant to be a little vague, as a fictional location.
