I'm writing two s4 Five Hargreeves FFs at the same time and I've come to the realization that their vibes are VASTLY different. On one hand, we have emo!Five who's lost his wife and everything is shit, while on the other we have fluffy!Five who gets everything he wants 🤣. Here's a visual representation of them (yes, I know this is a very outdated meme.):

TUA should’ve ended after season 2
i am just so kriffing disappointed in this final season. i am disgusted. steve blackman has absolutely zero regard for these characters, their development, and the story. he has no respect for the ACTORS. he threw the entirety of these past three seasons in the trash in just one season. they had so much opportunity and yet he chose to make it a fetish-filled, scandalous, and completely lazy season.
all the vomitting???????? klaus being force fed marigold (which dare i say might’ve made a good storyline for him IF HE WASNT PIMPED OUT AND THEJN NESRLY BURIED ALIVE????) which in turn made him into an alcoholic???
five and lila????? they scrapped fives motivation of saving his family and keeping them together because of his LOVE FOR THEM, all SO HE COULD HAVE A RELATIONSHIP WITH LILA????? that is probably the biggest mischaracterization altogether. lila would never cheat on diego. they are married. THEY HAVE CHILDREN TOGETHER. it’s NORMAL to have arguments and trouble in a relationship but by no means does it mean there’s room for affairs as a result. it just makes me mad. ritu has known aidan since he was 15, like this is so nasty.
diego being the stereotypical “bad father” for lack of better words because he apparently has no consideration for his family which is NOT TRUE AND IS A HUGE MISCHARACTERIZATION!!????
luther going back to being the guy that no one really listens to because they feel he has nothing of value to offer (it wasn’t super evident but i noticed it which made me sad bc we made so much progress with his character!)???
allison becoming a single mom whose husband, RAYMOND, walked out on her??? that literally makes no sense for raymond or her, yes allison is a strong and independent character but it feels like it’s just stereotype after stereotype.
viktor becoming a womanizer and LEAVING HIS FAMILY BEHIND! all viktor has ever wanted since childhood is to be apart of his family, and they take that away this season??? makes no sense.
dont even get me started on sparrow ben. i have never liked his character he is wayyyy too much of an asshole, but your saying he can’t have common sense??? they turn him into a criminal who is contaminated by this essence that is meant to end the world and ends up making him insanely attracted to the one consistent mystery in this entire show (jennifer/the jennifer incident) and then throw away the entire plot line to just have them end the world. **and then making him and jennifer overly sexually attracted to each other was just straight up weird, where did that even come from?? i had to skip those scenes because it was so kriffing cringe.
because out of no where, abigail had a change of heart. and reginald is somehow one of the only mentally stable characters this season which is new!??? jean and gene were completely and utterly useless. they had no point, the only five i liked in this season is brisket, newspaper, drunk, and season one five. CIA five can leave.
one of the only redeemable moments of this season is the flashback of our brellies. that was good. there were other parts that i liked but that is first that comes to mind. **and the birthday party scene where they reunite. very cute and family vibes. sucks they couldn’t all be together because viktor was straight up kidnapped by some crazy.
and then the subway to different timelines. that could’ve been such a freaking awesome idea and would’ve made a great plot device IF THERE WASN’T ONLY SIX EPISODES AND SOMEONE ELSE WAS PUT IN CHARGE OF WRITING. like why are five and lila the only ones who are aware of this?? this couldn’t have been utilized earlier?? also can we talk more about how ben is an asshole, people focus too much on the attractive aspect of his character (which no offense, i see no appeal to bc the personality is just awful—NO HATE TO JUSTIN H M, he’s fantastic it’s just we did not lose brelly ben for this), like he force fed/tricked EVERYONE into consuming the janky marigold. except klaus because he’s the only smart one there. also good on him for trying maintain sobriety. but still. that is so messed up???? if he had never given anyone the marigold, everything could’ve been fine. they could’ve lived long happy lives in this timeline reggie made.
and then they had david cross, pitch perfect 2 ref, iconic man, play an irrelevant character. i’m so mad. wasted potential right there.
AND! it’s a crime that there is no family dance montage/scene like past seasons. it hurts. **oh and also there being like zero MCR songs is such a slap in the face because if the producers and directors actually listened to the fans opinions and ideas every once in a while, they would know that we’ve been hoping for an MCR song to be included as an homage/reference to Gerard Way.
and then that ending. where they just accept death???? choosing that the world is better off without them??? that is such a lazy end. if they had ten episodes and let gerard way have some sort of say in the writing/directing process, we could’ve had something so good. something so creative and fun and fulfilling. but no. they die and come back as marigolds. **which i personally really liked, out of everything this season i’m not sure why so many people hate the fact they kind of turned into flowers 😭😭 the ending sucked cause it’s so obvious it wasn’t given much thought but it was still sad and seeing the eight marigolds was sweet and gave closure in a sense. as much as it could i guess. **also, the farthest marigold is ben regardless bc brelly ben is dead and sparrow ben doesn’t really consider the brellies as his family. it is not five or klaus or whoever, it is ben. it has to be imo. the two flowers closest together are lila and diego. fight me.**
another thing, all the bad guys having a happy ending? irks me. like they were iconic, but why them and not the brellies? **(while i still agree with the idea of why couldn’t the brellies be happy too, i actually liked the fact that the main villains or side characters had completely different lives had the umbrella academy never existed. like that’s actually crazy sad and really interesting. also two things: is detective patch in that last scene? i’m not sure if she is. and second: why is grace like alive? like she would still be alive, but she was alive in the sixties, so wouldn’t she be like super old by that point in time?? why is she still young? and having kids? the inconsistency is realll)** also i liked the version of i think we’re alone now they used but i think it could’ve been better if they used the tiffany version again 😞
anyway—thank you for reading my rant because i am just so baffled by how horrible this season was. i feel so bad for the cast because even they knew that this season would not be it. that not one true fan of TUA would like it. and it’s sad because this has been such a huge part of their lives and careers as actors. so they did great with what they were given and for that they have my respect.
** signify edits i made — mostly grammatical and clairty edits, and a few of my opinions updated or added on to now that i have had time to really think about what occurred this season.

The Umbrella Academy, Ep. 4x06 – The End of the Beginning (Spoilers)
Ok, any show that begins their series finale revolution with a Muse song can’t be all bad.
I have mixed feelings about this ending, but it may not be about what you think.  And I’m not really going to do an in-depth recap here; just a general summary.  I more want to delve into my thoughts about this season and what I thought did and did not work for this finale.
So, really general summary.  The siblings try to stop Ben and Jennifer; but fail.  We find out that Abigail started the cleansing…well, she thought her death was justice for her hubris.  And now she’s dealing with Reginald’s hubris of releasing Marigold into the world all so that he could bring her back.  The reality is, the moment that the Marigold was released into the atmosphere and caused women to suddenly become pregnant, was the moment that the Sacred Timeline (I mean, it might as well be) started to fracture.  And, basically, these universes all form and die because of the siblings trying to save the world.  The only way to restore the timeline back to one timeline is The Cleansing.  And the only way to make sure The Cleansing works is if all of the Marigold is destroyed.  Meaning the siblings must not only die, but essentially erase their existence from all of history.  So, the siblings make the great sacrifice, the timeline is restored, and everyone they’ve ever met (including their own children somehow) live together in a happy timeline.  Don’t think about that last bit too much.
Okay, so here’s the thing….the siblings were destined to die.  I know that some people will be disappointed with that ending; but that’s what the show was headed.  We are shown again and again how their very existence effects the timeline and effects those around them.  It’s not their fault; they sure as hell didn’t ask for this.  However, the only way to guarantee that their timeline stays safe is to remove the one constant in every destruction; them.   So, I don’t have a problem with how the series ended as I do think there was enough evidence to show this conclusion.
My problem with this episode, and this whole season, goes back to the tangents.  You didn’t have to have one last Klaus escapade or the whatever-the-hell that was between Five and Lila to make the ending work.  Hell, it felt weird, even for this team, for them to be just sitting around and wondering why Viktor hasn’t contacted them.  Because the reality is, you had everything you needed for a good ending right from the first episode.  Several years have passed; everyone has their own lives and their own family.  Of course, they’re not going to want the world to end or give up seeing their family again.  So, they’re going to fight and try to stop The Cleanse.  And you still would be able to have that moment where Lila almost decides to go with her children; her having her tryst with Five didn’t cause that.
Most importantly, by just focusing on stopping The Cleanse and saving Ben, there might have been better closure.  Because, while I do think their sacrifice was always where this show was heading, I also think they rushed the ending.  There should have been more time to process this.  More explanation about how and why Abigail created Marigold and Durango. We should have found out Abigail was Sy in episode four.  We should have had The Cleanse start at the end of episode five.  Have episode six start with the fight and then, after they fail, have Abigail explain to Reginald and the siblings why The Cleanse must happen.  At which point, you can have the ending where they gather the family; where Lila almost goes with them; where they sacrifice in the end and it doesn’t feel so…abrupt.  It’s like the first three seasons where climbing up a large mountain in order to set up the story; but then, instead of climbing back down to the conclusion, they just jumped off a cliff.  They didn’t give enough time for the conclusion and it isn’t because of the shortened episode order; it’s because they put things in the last season that weren’t needed. And that annoys the hell out of me, because this could have been so much better.
Now, the last season doesn’t ruin the show for me.  I still think, for the most part, this is an excellent show.  But they didn't stick the landing.

So…what was the point of the post-credits season at the end of season 3 where we see (presumably an alternate) Ben on the subway? To let us know that another Ben existed in this timeline? “Haha btw guys this Ben is chilling on a train somewhere! He’s conveniently never going to run into the Umbrellas or get brought up again!”

I've been entertaining myself at work by coming up with funny/creative insults for how bad TUA s4 was:
Dumpsterfire is too nice of a word
They committed such atrocious character assassination that the writers should be charged with first degree murder
The lack of creativity/skill from the TUA writers made that one Australian breakdancer from the Olympics look like a professional
Let me know what yours are in the comments/tags!

The Umbrella Academy – Ep.4x02 – Jean and Gene (Spoilers)
Oh, this was the worst episode to watch while eating dinner.  Also, interesting title for the episode considering….
Well, Ben did spike the drinks.  Almost no one is happy with this.  Also, Marigold apparently isn’t something that should be ingested as it seems to give everyone flu-like symptoms.  It’s interesting to note, though, that not everyone’s powers came back the same.
Luther is back to his original form; sort of.  He seems to be more man on top then he used to be.  Or the makeup has changed.  Ben has his tentacles, but is having trouble controlling them.  Five can teleport, but it seems more adrenaline based instead of focused.  Lila now shoots beams out of her eyes and it seems to be her only power.  Viktor can control his power (although it’s more of a focused energy burst) and is pissed that those powers are back.  Diego and Alison we'll get back to later.  Klaus has no powers because it turned out he faked drinking the Saki.
The group decides they need to go back to the dry cleaners to talk to Sy and get more information.  However, the dry cleaners has been cleaned out except for a map with a town circled.  Either Sy is on the run or this is a trap for the siblings.  The only way to find out is to go to the town.
This leads to a very long car trip, with a prolonged scene of most of the characters throwing up as “Baby Shark” plays in the background.  Moving on….
That night, as Diego is driving the van and most everyone is asleep, he tells Five that he saw Lila with another man at the diner.  Five tells Diego the best thing to do is to forget about it.  On the one hand, I hate forced drama like this (as it is something that can easily be resolved); on the other hand…given how Diego is so excited to back on a mission, it might actually be worse for Diego to find out his wife was working undercover and didn’t involve him.
So, the group arrive at the town.  It looks like it’s straight out of a Halmark movie.  This should have put all of them on edge.  But Ben is tired of the group and goes his own way.  He ends up in a diner, where he meets Rosie.  Rosie is the owner of the diner, she wasn’t born in the town, but has lived there ever since she was placed into the care of her step uncle (who also happens to be the sheriff).  That’s a lot of backstory for an new character, she must be important.
Meanwhile, everyone else walks around the town, looking for clues and asking one person if they knew Jenny.  During this time, Luther mentions how Sloane would have liked this place (but he doesn’t seem unhappy so he’s either accepted she’s not coming back or he’s in denial).  Lila thanks Five for not outing her in the van the night before.  Viktor makes it clear to Alison that, while Viktor understands why Alison made the choices she did and doesn’t hold any anger towards her (at least, he’s not actively plotting revenge), he also really doesn’t want anything to do with Alison.
This last long enough for word to spread around that these people are looking for Jennifer and, uh, everyone in the town is armed.  Like military armed.  Viktor fights back.  Diego and Lila run for cover.  Five ends up using his powers and ends up in a subway station.  But it isn’t any subway station.  Long story short, Five takes one of the trains and discovers they travel between timelines.  And then he goes back.
While Five is on his Magical Mystery Tour, the fight continues.  At the diner, Rosie suddenly finds herself surrounded by townspeople.  Her step-uncle tells her to step away from Ben and to come with them, for her safety.  Ben tries to help her using his tentacles.  Rosie ends up running away with Ben.  The step-uncle reminds the townsfolk that Rosie must not be harmed.
Meanwhile, we get to see Diego’s and Alison’s upgraded powers.  Diego is somehow able stop projectiles in their tracks (in this case, a shit tone of bullets) and send them back towards the people shooting at them.  Alison, meanwhile, no longer needs to “rumor” people, she can straight up control their actions.
Back at the van, Klaus (who’s been in the van the whole time) sees a woman running towards him.  She’s screaming that she needs help.  Klaus asks her if she’s Jennifer, she says she is.  At that point Diego, Lila, Ben, and Rosie run to the van.  Klaus says he found Jennifer, but Rosie says that’s not Jennifer; she is.  She only goes by Rosie at the diner, so no one hitting on her knows her real name.  Fake Jennifer pulls out a gun and shoots Klaus.  Ben kills the woman.  Ben let’s Jennifer know that they’ll take her home to her father, Sy.  She doesn’t know who that is, just that it's not her father.  Everyone gets Klaus inside the van.
Back in town, Luther is trying to shield Viktor, Alision, and the now returned Five from an Assault Weapons wielding Santa Claus.  As he does so, Luther notices on one of the dead bodies that they are wearing armor.  And the armor clearly shows that these people work for Reginald.  Santa is killed by Diego driving the van, as “Baby Shark” plays in the background (seriously, did whoever own the rights to the song actually ask to read the script, or…).  The three of them get inside the van, to find a dying Klaus.
In order to save Klaus, they give him some of the Marigold.  It’s hard to judge what Klaus will make of this.  It’s clear he had some temptation during one scene in the van, but he also seems upset that they gave him the Marigold.  Of course, he had just been brought back from the dead; who knows how clear he was in that moment.
Luther tells the others about the armor and it seems, for a moment, that Reginald set this all up.  Except they are then broadsided by another vehicle.  The van violently roles over and we see something happening with Jennifer that indicates maybe she has powers.
After the accident, most of the people in the van are unconscious or barely conscious.  Diego sees Jean and Gene standing beside the van.  Diego hear Jean call Lila “Nancy,” as Gene takes Jennifer out of the van.
So, it seems like what really happened is that Jean and Gene want this Jennifer, who’s clearly being protected by Reginald.  Jean and Gene, perhaps they recognized Lila in their meetings or maybe someone recognized Five in his stupid disguise, concocted the story of Jennifer being indoctrinated by The Keepers and gave them just enough evidence (along with the Marigold) in those hopes that the siblings would go get Jennifer themselves.  What, of course, they don’t realize is that whatever version of the Academy they thought were in front of them; it’s not these guys.  They make it very clear in the first episode, where the siblings don’t recognize the headlines on the paper.  Still, the plan worked in it’s own weird way, and now Jean and Gene have Jennifer.
