MY FAVORITE THINGS OF 2023 🎆

So yeah.

Jujutsu Kaisen S2 is my favorite anime of the year. It gave me SatoSugu; my new fave BL yaoi OTP. Which in turn got my side blog; Queen Endless, going on here and has shown me more of a boom on here than anything before.

The Ahsoka Series gave us our Anakin Ahsoka reunion with ep 4 and 5 and God Ep 5 gave me everything I wanged and more and yeah Ezra, Thrawn, and much more showed up but TCW keeps on coming back to feed me good.

Spider-Man 2 PS5 gave me Bully Lowenthal, live action kid Ben 10 all grown up as Harry, Venom madness, and was an overall rollercoaster.

Dtoons Team Teen Cartoon Heroes Unite gave me Ben, Bloom, and Yugi all in the same episode/screenshot and yeah a congregation of cartoon and anime characters galore. Imma try to draw some inspired fanart for it soon. Hopefully.

Anigomi, making character audio x listerner content on YouTube, covering guys and gals from anime and etc. My favorite VA of theirs is Han who voices Gojo, Hawks, Dazai, Tamaki and probably more. They do commissions, they're EXPENSIVE, but their content is great and they have Patreon for the MATURE stuff so there.

Five Years Later by The Ink Tank, the Ben 10 Danny Phantom crossover webcomic turned motion comic/dub with professional VAs and we're getting the next 3 episodes coming right around the corner and it's ALL SO GOOD!

Scream 6. My favorite horror series. Which makes me sad cause Scream 7 ain't happening cause our two lead girls were fired/quit along with the director of the 6 cause of stupid BS. So reboot? It just won't be the same.

Once Upon A Studio, a homage to the House of Mouse in my opinion. The Disney crossover of all time that was wholesome and funny tied up in a bow.

The Pink Popcast is hilarious. Benji and Rizzo are great commenters/people you can vibe with well. For first time reactions to watching them react to my fave stuff is all around entertaining. Especially when they talk about musicals, Scream and Disney.

Series Summary

Three years ago you were normal, the only demons you had to fight were your own, and you the most you knew of Vought and the Boys were what you saw on TV. But then you met Homelander at a stupid party, and woke up the next morning in a cell.

After almost two and a half years of you being Homelander's little project, Soldier Boy was woken up only go rouge and be put back under. Somewhere in there, you escaped. And before Queen Maeve went underground, she told William Butcher about the Anomaly, a powerful supe who recently escaped Vought captivity and may have an agenda against Homelander.

One month later, the Boys found you.

You spend the next five months helping them best you can, though your control over your powers is weak and your fear of Homelander makes you useless in combat. But you get an idea. A stupid, dangerous idea that turns you into Soldier Boy's keeper, giving him a second chance to take down Homelander, you hanging over his shoulder, a threat should he want to go nuclear again. It's exhausting and frustrating, and you might kill him and yourself as soon as this is over, but you said whatever it takes.

And this is what it takes.

Author's Note

This story is non-canon compliant, with the two main differences being;

1) Butcher doesn't have brain cancer, because I said so.

2) All of Gen V didn't take place, because I don't want to deal with the whole supe-plauge thing. Also that's too many characters to keep track of squad.

Because of this, the story will start in a similar setting as s4e5, but with different events leading up to it, and will deal with similar themes and have similar events to the rest of s4, but at an inconsistent rate. If you have any questions about other, smaller changes I have made, feel free to ask!

Today makes 50 years since Yasser Arafat’s Fatah terrorists attacked the Savoy Hotel in Tel Aviv to try to disrupt Israeli peace talks with Egypt. They shot a bride on her wedding day & murdered her new husband, along with 7 hotel guests including men, women & a child.

Just before midnight on this day (March 6) in 1975, 8 massacre-seeking terrorists from Yasser Arafat’s Fatah ended their deranged #Mediterranean “#cruise” to Tel Aviv from #Lebanon by hopping into two rubber dinghies loaded with bombs & automatic weapons.

It was less than 18 months since Egypt & #Syria launched a surprise attack on Israel on Yom Kippur - the holiest day of the #Jewish year.

Whispers of a potential #peace deal between Israel & #Egypt were in the air, & Arafat sought to disrupt any #Arab leaders’ notion that peace with Israel might be acceptable (note the similarities in #Hamas’ barbaric #October7massacre, which was meant to disrupt an emerging normalization deal between Israel & #Saudi #Arabia).

From the #beach, the Fatah terrorists crossed the sand to Allenby Street & eventually reached Guela Street where they started spraying passers-by with automatic gunfire & multiple grenades.

As the terrorists approached an area filled with hotels & foreign embassies, one of those bullets struck 21-year-old bride, Sara Najaj, on her wedding day.

Thankfully, she survived.

Her husband of only a few hours, however - Moshe Deutschmann - was tragically shot & killed.

The terrorists continued their murder & mayhem spree & entered the closest hotel: the three-story Savoy.

Barging through the front doors, the terrorists immediately murdered a woman working the hotel’s front desk.

As chaos ensued, the terrorists also killed 2 unarmed hotel guests before forcibly taking 10 guests & staff hostage at the butt of their #Soviet AK-47s.

The terrorists then barricaded themselves on the top floor & surrounded themselves with the hostages.

Soon, the hotel was a war zone - local #police, border police, & IDF troops encircled the building & a standoff ensued.

Meanwhile, it already appeared to be the site of a mass casualty event with a string of seemingly endless flashing red lights.

Ambulances arrived one-by-one & paramedics rushed to treat wounded civilians like the #bride & sudden #widow, Sara Najaj, who lay bleeding on the sidewalk.

Nearly five hours of negotiations with the terrorists went nowhere; & at 5 a.m., the elite Sayeret Matkal unit of the #IDF stormed the Savoy.

What they didn’t know, however, was that the terrorists had planted several bombs on the hotel’s top floor.

A 5 minute & 16 second-long gunfight ensued, during which 7 of the 8 #terrorists were killed. Two soldiers, Colonel Uzi Yairi & Sergeant Itamar Ben-David, were also killed.

The eighth #terrorist was captured alive, but not before he could detonate the planted explosives (see photo of the destroyed Savoy Hotel).

In the end, five of the #hostages (including one child) were killed, & the other five were freed by the #soldiers.

The murdered child’s father was critically wounded, but he survived.

Decades later, a #WikiLeaks cable from the U.S. Embassy in Israel confirmed Arafat’s direct involvement in & responsibility for the attack.

Specifically, the U.S. Embassy’s communique stated:

“The criminal action of Fatah members in Tel Aviv again testifies to the murderous aims & methods of the terrorist organizations … Any claim to relative moderation which might have been attributed to Arafat has been negated.”

Sadly, but tellingly, the 8 terrorists are still well-known & remembered today as “#martyrs” & “#heroes” in Palestinian society.

Years after Arafat died, Mahmoud Abbas’ Palestinian Authority built these 8 terrorists a grand mausoleum in 2012 to once again drive home the perverse message that there is no greater act for a #Palestinian than to die while murdering #Jews.

Let me get this straight. Reginald and Abigail are alien scientists (and also maybe robots?) whose origins are never explored or explained. Abigail creates both marigold and durango somehow, then dies. Reginald is so overcome with grief that he goes to earth and finds a portal to space and time and decides to make it his mission to go through this portal to formulate a new timeline in which Abigail is still alive. He releases marigold haphazardly on earth and it goes into the atmosphere and somehow at will infects specifically 43 women and impregnates them immediately (instead of giving them powers).

At this time, the introduction of marigold into the atmosphere splits the timeline into infinite timelines despite this time portal existing beforehand. After finding this random portal in the sky and not understanding it Reginald deduces that there is a specific set of rules in order to use this portal that involves the element his wife literally just created. Reginald searches for and acquires 7 of these powered children with marigold specifically because according to the rules he only needs 6 of them but wants one for extra just in case. We never hear about the other 36 powered children in the original timeline despite the reasonable assumption that they may have caused some trouble at some point.

Reginald prohibits Five from traveling through time most likely because he does not want him to fuck up his plan, but he is such a bad father that Five says fuck you and does it anyway. Reginald only has six kids now that Five is gone and moves on thinking everything will be fine. Meanwhile, the extremely dangerous element durango has been released somehow in a way that is never explained and infects literally only one child. It is never really made clear whether Reginald keeps this child, Jennifer, in a container or whether or not he is trying to obtain the container to kill her. Reginald kills Jennifer and Ben before they can end the world and now only has five children left so he just gives up on his dream I guess instead of trying to find any of the other special children to kidnap and indoctrinate. He runs the umbrella academy into the ground and gives them all irreparable trauma and then 10 years later decides to off himself either to entice his children to figure out the mystery or just because he failed at everything at life. But since he killed Jennifer he couldn’t have known Viktor might cause an apocalypse unless he just had a bad feeling since five time traveled and he traumatized his children and recognized this as a whoopsie.

In season 3 alternate Reginald has the same scheme and just got different children and did slightly better at it and when the umbrellas kill most of the sparrows he decides who cares 6 is enough and goes on his merry way to activate the portal in hotel oblivion. In season 4, Abigail is alive but has survivors guilt and decides she needs to see her creation through and end all the alternate timelines, seemingly having infinite knowledge of all the timelines even though she wasn’t there, so she tries to cause the apocalypse in increasingly confusing ways. Reginald and Abigail die unceremoniously without consequence for their actions and without any semblance of explanation for their origins.

Decided to play around with an older design for Etta, and now I have to admit I am getting attached to a joke character But here be Eternity as an adult, getting some more wacky biology under the dress, like needle feet lol. As she grows, her body gets twisted looking similar to Divinity, though in a more bone sharp way. I'll probably do a image to show off her face under the mask eventually. Despite being raised by two villains, I like the idea she grows to be a more neutral, yet very chaotic force in time and space. People can't tell if she has a goal in mind, or doing anything that makes her laugh, maybe both. Either way, she's a very scary individual to encounter, but still retains a lot of her charm and goofiness from childhood.

Everything Wrong With Umbrella Academy Season 4 (Characters)

The way it felt like someone who had never seen the show wrote this season????

The characters were AWFUL and were almost entirely new characters with all their previous character development forgotten.

Allison - Honestly, I don't like Allison (after watching THAT scene w Luther), so I really didn't care what happened with her this season. I think it does suck that she wasn't able to be happy with Ray, they were nice together. Also, no rumours? Her power was one of the most interesting out of the family.

Luther - People were commenting about how childish and positive he was being this season and how it was out of character from him being so serious. Honestly? I love silly Luther, he's such a breath of fresh air. I also like to believe that because Luther was assigned the leader of the family (being number 1 and all), he's able to enjoy himself without that pressure. Also, I also love to believe that Luther is using being positive and silly as a coping mechanism as to not be overwhelmed by the sadness of losing Sloane and also his current living situation. Giving him his gorilla body back was so unnecessary and makes no sense cause it wasn't the marigold that gave him the body.

Ben - He sucked. I hate that Sparrow Ben was the one that was dragged with them because it meant that we had to deal with him sulking and being angsty the whole time. Also, the character development we witnessed 1-2 just disappeared instantly cause of Sparrow Ben. Also, his friendship with Klaus was the best thing in the show and I hate that we never get to see that in season 3.

Klaus - I was actually so happy for him being sober, even if he wasn't living the best life because of his paranoia with death and germs. So it really sucked when that immediately went down the drain the second his body got the marigold.

Diego - He deserved better. Yeah, his constant complaining about his "belly" (which wasn't even that big of a difference??) and wanting to go back to his old super spy life did affect his and Lila's marriage, but when he realised that he immediately accepted that he was at fault and was willing to improve their marriage to make Lila happy.

Lila - I liked Lila before season 4. I don't know what they were thinking honestly by changing her entire character. Yes, she and Five were stuck for 7 years together, but seriously? That plot added NOTHING to the story because in the end, Lila chose Diego and then they all DIED like 10 minutes later!!

Viktor - Honestly? Viktor didn't really stand out this season for me. Sure, he got kidnapped by Ian Hawk. I thought the idea of him trying to remove the marigold from Ben was a really cool idea but then it just didn't happen. I thought his interactions with Reginald were decent, since it's interesting to see how this Reginald thinks about Viktor compared to the original timeline Reginald.

Five - It's honestly kind of impressive how the writers were able to make the best character in the show the worst character by the end of it. They completely changed his whole character. First, his personality is duller than a door nail. He's so emotionless and so boring. Where's the excessive facial expressions and movements? Second, changing his motivations. For the past 3 seasons we have watched him with one goal in his mind; "Save the world and his siblings". So why would Five ever possibly consider both giving that up for Lila of all people. Third, giving Five a love interest was so useless and lazy. Why would he choose a girl over his siblings? Especially one literally MARRIED to his BROTHER. Fourth, him being all pouty and jealous over Lila choosing Diego (her husband and father of her kids - no shit she was gonna pick him over Five, literally have no idea why Five even thought he had a chance) to the point where he plans to just ditch his family in the middle of a big fight. Five, him fighting Diego in the middle of said big fight. THEN, Five just gives up??? Yeah, that's probably all he could do but seriously, this is Five we're talking about, the guy who survived in 45 years in the apocalypse to try and get back to his family and save the world. Do you really believe that he would just give up?

BONUS:

Jennifer - They could introduce a new character/love interest for Ben but they didn't do the same for Five so they just gave him the only other woman who wasn't his sister???? LAZY. Also, the amount of plot holes with Jennifer's character makes me queasy.

These are your thought, slowly fading away as you faint, on the cold floor of the hotel gym. After training for five hours in a row with your dad.

Those thoughts. They were the words your father say to you, every god damn day of your life.

Five hours ago, he dragged you away from the food you were eating, you didn't deserve it, he said. You only need to train, train, and train.

He made you run for three hours, only taking two little breaks, that was more than enough, your father said.

It's 6pm, he went to book a court for two hours for you to train after ‘dinner’, which he won't let you eat.

I will introduce yourself, if you let me. You are the child of a ex-pro player, your father was, twenty years ago, a slam champion and the n1 in the world.

When you were born, he didn't wanted a child. He wanted a prodigy. A pro student and player.

Your family, being rich, always made teacher come to your house to teach you, homeschooling you for years. The only time you would socialize where when your father would take you to elegant events about tennis or introduce you to other rich people. They usually were all adults, and the kids you would befriend in those nights were all spoiled and already acting like adults. They had the latests phones and clothes, they had perfect grades and everything they wanted, you, on the other side, had the things you needed to live when you deserved them. If you didn't train your father won't feed you or make you sleep in the cold and old basement.

At four years old, you were already winning kid tournaments, at 10 you won the national under 10 tournament, at 12 the under 12 one, at 14 the under 14 one, and at 15 your father made you play qualifying in the us open, you played small tournaments before in other countries, some 250 or 500 and a challenger 1000, but never a slam.

That week you won three rounds, but you got another qualifier prodigy at the fourth, which you lost to.

And your father let's say…he wasn't happy. The opposite. He was in the stands when you lost, your opponent celebrating, you shook hands and saw your fathers glare. You knew what was coming. And it was terrible.

That night you got beaten by him. And hard. You still have those scars, and you slept in the basement.

But what does you mom do to your father treating you like shit? Nothing.

She can't do anything. She's dead. A disease, the doctors says.

The truth?

Your father poisoned her slowly, it made her develop a disease. And the doctors? Corrupted by him.

Let's get back to the current time.

When your father left you sat on the floor of the empty gym, your father paid the hotel to have it exclusively for you when you wanted (when he did, just to specify, you had no word on this).

Your heart beating fast, too fast. It feels like it'll explode any second. Your ears were ringing, your vision blurry, your whole body not just sore, but exhausted by the excessive training.

You fainted.

Two hours later, getting shoken by someone made you regain consciousness. It was you father calling you to train.

In the two hours he left you were supposed to get back to your hotel room and study, and he's already mad because you're still in the gym.

“Were you sleeping, huh? Don't lie! I told you you had to study! What were you doing?! Resting? You don't need that!” He slapped you. Your left cheek reddening.

He made you get up and pushed you outside, then to the tennis courts.

You had to train with the strength you didn't had, the only this you looked towards every day was sleep.

You entered the court, there were hard courts divided by two benches and a umpire seat.

You didn't think that any other player would be playing in those courts, since usually your father books a secluded one where there's just you two training, because he has the habit to yell at you when you make mistakes.

But you see a young player in the second court, you recognize him, *Ben Shelton*, you never actually look at others players or chat with them, but sometimes Ben came to you to chat since you started playing professionally.

You wave at him, hoping he won't notice the eyebags under your eyes and the state you're in. More on the other side than on earth.

Ben was training with his father and coach, Bryan, having a parent as a coach isn't a pleasant thing, for you. But Ben seems to love being coached by Bryan. Well, can't blame him, Bryan's a sweet man, not an abuser.

You place your bag on the bench near the one where put his. You father was still at the gate, chatting with another coach, while Ben and Bryan came to you.

“hey! Long time no see, huh? Been some months since we talked, I wonder why you never get seen anywhere other than tennis courts. Anyway, how's it going?” Ben says

“Hey, nice to see you again ben! I'm alright, a bit tired, my old man's killing me. But don't tell him I'm complaining” you joke, still by telling a truth.

“Mine isn't taking back either, I feel like dying every practice ahah”

“That's not true, ben, I train you the right amount. Not too much, like their father does. Are you sure you're not training too much, bud?” Bryan chimes in.

You're eyes widen the much they can because you're so tired to actually make a shocked expression, what do you reply to that? You could tell the truth, ben was the closest thing you had to a friend after all, or you could lie, and if they believed you you'll probably faint again and go to the hospital.

You stay silent for a moment, their eyes locked on your face, concerned and worried about you.

The crossover between Ben 10 and Danny Phantom taking place five years after the end of their shows.

I've never heard of that crossover, but I bet it's great. I've only ever seen snippets of Ben 10, but he and Danny seem to have a few similarities, what with having to keep a secret, only certain family/friends in the know, being a hero/misunderstood, etc.

Funnily enough, my younger brother was the Ben 10 fan, and I was the Danny Phantom fan 😂

there’s my two cents on the five x lila subplot (as always this is my opinion, feel free to disagree)

the season itself is short, 6 episodes compared to the usual 10. that doesn’t give much time to develop characters or plots, and the fact that the subway subplot was thrown in episode 5 feels extremely rushed.

this will be long so everything’s below the cut

do i like the idea of five x lila? absolutely not. was this arc ok in terms of characterization? also no. but, there is a little merit to it (emphasis, little). lila and five are stuck together for 6 years with what seems like no way to get out. they only have themselves BUT this is where the disagreements start; they should’ve and could’ve stayed platonic. btw, i think both five and lila are at fault. lila has diego and her 3 kids, while five knows all this. they both made the (wrong) decision to get together. but also at the same time like. why get with the man who killed ur parents ?

ben and jennifer causing the cleanse is the main idea of the season, yet the ep right before the series finale turns into a whole new idea. if the writers wanted five to discover the deli with different fives, that easily could’ve been in a shorter timeframe. if the writers wanted some angst with lila and diego’s relationship, that also could’ve been done much much differently. lila is an assassin and diego a child forced to be a hero, the whole rift in their marriage is because neither of them are used to domesticity. yet when lila gets lost with five, she seems to be fine settling on a strawberry farm, being fluffy with five, and taking a break from trying to get home. fives character, on the other hand, has always been about how he’s simultaneously too old (mentally) and too young (physically) for love, which is why he had closure with delores, and half the time he’s too busy with apocalypses to care for love with a real person. i feel like most of that got thrown out the window. and it’s basically pedo like in both directions 😭

not to mention, all the aftermath when diego finds out is pointless compared to what’s coming, the cleanse. literally everyone dies, and the whole situation got unresolved as a result. even the argument at christmas dinner in front of both diego’s and lila’s family was not it, it lowk gave me cheesy rom com vibes.

imo, a better way to keep angst in their marriage without cheating is to have more interaction with diego and lila. the whole time she kept on avoiding him. they could’ve resolved the rough patch right at the end, like when diego said “i finally see u” and then the cleanse happens so they never get their happy ending together. in the actual finale, five got jealous and diego was upset and it was very messy.

not to mention that at the time of filming, aidan was 19 and barely a legal adult while ritu was almost 35 ish. the acting industry is so messed up.
