I know it's probably odd to see "doll customs" as a specific thing listed in my description for a Bendy sideblog, so I'm here to elaborate. Bendy and dolls are a lot more intertwined for me than you may think!

For everyone not in-the-know, doll customization is an art form where you take a doll and make it into a new character of your choosing. Some people opt for expensive resin dolls known as BJDs, or ball jointed dolls, but I do mine using fashion dolls, namely Monster High, but also some others. For me, it's fun to take a well loved toy and give it new life! These are my Bendy themed dolls!

Here they are in "birth order" if you will. The first doll I ever customized was Twisted Alice Angel back in December of 2018. She and Allison were made using Ari Hauntington as a base. Sammy came quickly after in February of 2019 as my first male doll. He's a Porter Geiss with a few body modifications. Allison was Halloween of 2019, she was my first venture into making weapons and helped improve my sewing. Our projectionist, Norman, was Halloween of 2020, he was my first attempt at making a headpiece this complex, and it was such a fun time, albeit a little frustrating. He's actually a WWE Superstars doll.

And then you have Belphene, who's a character from my Bendy fic, Searching the Depths: The Heart of the Studio. She's an America Chavez Marvel Rising doll, and she helped me explore the world of horns, drafting my own sewing patterns, and beading. She was my project for Halloween of 2021, alongside revamping Sammy. Some of the techniques I used originally did not hold up well, he needed some paint touch-ups and got basically remade from the ground up to be my own interpretation of the character, and I'm much happier with him now. I have one other Bendy related doll, my character Bella Ewe (also from Depths), but her doll is currently on the bench until I can fix her up.

My hope is to eventually make more of the cast and then remake Alice. I have a base prepped for Henry, a Tom in progress that I keep going back and forth on, pieces for the Ink Demon, loose plans for Bertrum because holy crow is he a challenge, and my favorite of my current plans, Jacob in the form of his SRU AU spider monster appearance. I don't do BATIM dolls all the time, because I'm more into making original characters, and these projects take a lot of time, but they're mighty fulfilling to do as my Halloween projects.

Fun with the BATIM Sims (Mermaid Edition!)

So you’re about to get a huge influx of nutcracker content from me, since it’s that time of year and how can I not celebrate. So before I drag you into nutcracker hell and Christmas vibes, let’s take a minute to relax, unwind, and indulge in the chaos that is putting my BATIM cast into the Sims 4.

Surprise! If you’re not familiar with my work here in the Bendyverse, I have two public AUs (and a few private ones). The first is Searching the Depths, a very sequel-oriented plot where Joey is onto phase two now that he has his former employees trapped in the studio. The second is Kraken’s Labyrinth, where the studio crew is now a colorful cast of merfolk (save for Susie and a few other humans), and Henry is hiding on the surface from the King of Atlantis. I just started playing with my Depths cast last night (Bella, Eliza, Bendy as a cat, Joey, and Belphene), but I then made Henry’s immediate family for Kraken (Eliza, himself, Linda, and their husky, Boris). So that’s who we’re mostly gonna focus on today.

It’s no secret that I’ve struggled with designing my cast for a while, but dear gosh has Henry given me a run for my money. I think this design is the first time I’ve had my own that feels right (because let’s be real, @doberart​‘s Henry lives in my head rent free as what I imagine in canon, he’s just too perfect). But then I realized something cursed/blessed when I gave him glasses.

Not only does he have cheesy dad vibes, but he also has Milo Thatch vibes, the main protagonist from my favorite non-musical Disney movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire. God dammit, I channeled the nerd from 1914, no wonder I find him charming! X’’D

Eliza also got glasses. I never imagined her with them before, but since I made her as a mermaid rather than a spellcaster this time, I had to forgo the unnatural orange eyes, and this was what made her face look right. It’s kind of a thing across my AUs that Henry and his daughter have the same supernatural looking orange eyes, they’re like amber almost.

Linda on the other hand, oh man, I really had no idea what to do for her. Definitely some wrinkles and glasses, I think it gives her a studious scientist look, which makes sense since she’s a marine biologist in this world (aka, not a mermaid like her husband). The hair was also key. I wanted short and wavy, but not necessarily the classic curls the 40s/50s are known for.

And Boris. Oh my gosh, Boris. I think I captured his essence pretty well. He’s got the traits of lazy, glutton, and loyal, and I think that sums it up decently. He’s a good boy though, lots of affection to be given.

But now for the fun stuff: getting to live out our wildest fantasies for these characters! Exhibit A: 

Henry finally gets to sleep. Truly the most important fantasy from BATIM. 

And they all get to enjoy each other’s company. Henry hasn’t lost his art, Linda’s happy everyone is together, and Eliza is as curious as ever.

She takes after both of her parents. Very smart, but also very creative.

Just seeing Henry in a lifestyle that lets him spend time with his family is really wholesome, and I appreciate the fact that I can enjoy this now. It makes a part of my heart feel very nice. 

And then a vampire showed up. Because it’s the sims. X’’’D He didn’t hurt anyone, but I may need to hang some garlic up.

Also, this right here is because of Linda, and it makes me so gosh darn happy. 

Just bless Henry man. Bless him. But he’s not the only one with a tail that I made. I’ll show you the other one in another post very soon.~

I didn’t take as many screenshots for Depths, since I’m still making their house, but Belphene and Bendy seem to be getting along well. There’s no demons in Sims, so I made her a vampire, and holy heck, I can absolutely see why @startistdoodles​ did that for Hyde. Holy freaking crow, they’re fun to play with! I haven’t figured out how to feed her other than drinking from another sim, so I may have been a butt and had her feed off of Joey. ^^’’’’ He then went to bed while she ran off to troll the internet. Giuseppe kind of deserves it for being a butt, and it’s not unlike her slowly sipping on his soul like a juice box in canon, but still, I feel very guilty that I’m enjoying it. XD Besides that, Bella is doing a lot of readings and Joey likes to play darts. Since I haven’t finished their house, I’m considering making parts of the downstairs look like Joey’s canon apartment, while having upstairs be whatever, but I’m still working that out. What do you think? 

I also should mention that I foolishly (or maybe not so) made these two households on the same save file, so there’s a possibility that they could run into each other, say if I, sent them on vacation, so that’s something to consider. I could also be a dork and send them to survive in Star Wars, the possibilities really are endless here. I like being able to share and talk about this stuff, so thank you guys for indulging me. I hope I can do this every now and again, it’s kinda fun.

Can I just take a moment to geek out? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH, Tak, honey, I’m going to cry! You made this look absolutely amazing, it’s got all the energy I imagined for this scene and so much more! It’s so soft yet so seething with foreshadowing. Never in all my years did I expect to see fan art based on anything I wrote, much less involving non-canonical characters, but gosh, you’ve slain me. Thank you so much! 

“Bendy was my childhood. God, Dad and I watched them every Saturday morning when we still lived with Uncle Ernie. Just him an’ I and the cartoon, in that beat up green recliner… I’d give anything to have those days back.”

24. What is their sleeping pattern like? Do they snore? What do they like to sleep on? A soft or hard mattress?

Belphene: I-EXCUSE YOU! I'll have you know that I do not snore, who fed you that lie?

Bella: Belphene, it's not exactly a secret.

Belphene: What?!

Bella: Yeah, you think you're being quiet when you come home at night, but I can hear you, very clearly. -She giggles.- It's fine though, it's a very cute snore.

Belphene: -Her cheeks are a little red as she turns away.- At a-any rate, to answer the rest of your question, I'm a fairly sound sleeper. I like my sleep, but there isn't much time for it when you're getting summoned by various contractors. If I had things my way, I'd have a firm mattress and pillows stuffed with phoenix feathers and peacock down. I like my pillows soft but my bed like brimstone, but alas, that's a luxury I have yet to obtain.

Bella: Yeah, both of us were stuck on the couch a lot when we bunked with Joey, but we're working on getting a nicer space put together. It's just taking a while.

23 for Belphene?

23. Do they have a good memory? Short term or long term? Are they good with names? Or faces?

Belphene: "...You really want to go there, huhn?"

-She leans back in her seat, a throne amidst a pile of ink and discarded books, legs and arms both crossed, avoiding the gaze of anyone who dared to look at her.-

"My memory is...unfortunately, very good. I may be a demon, but unlike the ancient beings you may be familiar with, my life has only spanned a few centuries. I remember every deal and its details far more than I'd like to. Every face, every scream, every look of utter anguish when they realize just how much they've lost to me."

-She smirks and shakes her head, eyeing you as she leans in closer. But her smile turns sad, almost melancholy, regretful.-

"I remember people before they stripped themselves of what made them beautiful. I remember a time when Joey...wasn't a monster. I regret playing a part in turning him into one. Ridiculous, isn't it? That a demon could regret such a natural thing as corruption? But then again...perhaps demons should be shown more kindness. It's hard to regret the darkness if you've never had a chance to know the warmth of light."

A Demonic Romance?

So um...I did something kind of self indulgent last night on the Sims, something I wouldn’t normally do. In fact, this may be the first time I’ve done something like this. ^^’’’’ I don’t know if any of you remember this, but I wrote this one-shot fanfic last year called Don’t Take it for Granted. Not a lot of people read it, but that hasn’t stopped me from thinking about it a lot, because it gave characterization to a character I never expected to work with: Grant Cohen. See, I don’t have this burning desire to work with Grant as a character. He’s got one tape that’s clearly his, and his office is a scary sight, but otherwise, there’s not much to be invested in. If we had to pick a side character outside of our bigger names to focus on, I’d probably choose to write about Jack (something to keep in mind for the future). But when I wrote this fic and fleshed out Grant, some cool stuff happened that I wasn’t expecting. 

And now I’m playing with it in the Sims. This is the first time I’ve done an OC X Canon pairing. But danggit, they’re really cute together!

So for anyone who hasn’t read my fics (or it’s just been a while), let me get you up to speed. On the right, we have Grant Cohen, but on the left, we have my demon. This is Belphene Farah. In my story, Searching the Depths: The Heart of the Studio, she’s the demon that Joey contracted to give the ink its magical properties. She wasn’t intended to be anything major, but the more I get into her head, the more I want to flesh her out. She’s actually shown up in three of my fics now, as she’s also pretty important to Too Many Eyes, which is a crossover fic. She’s a bit complicated in terms of morality, sometimes loving to torture mortals, and sometimes taking pity on them. Grant is one such case. Grant’s life hasn’t been anything special. He has no family, his only friends (if he can call them that) are at the studio, he’s constantly stressed and overworked, and he’s been convinced that he’s unworthy of love. 

So when Belphene scoops him up for another sacrifice, he’s more afraid for the people that she’s going after next than he is himself. And that strikes a chord with her. She’s also been hurt many times over. She also doesn’t believe she’s worthy of love, and that’s part of why she’s delighted in messing with mortals for so long, to distract herself from her longing for someone to care. One thing I haven’t covered within the story itself is WHY she agreed to a contract with Joey. Part of it is because Belphene’s pretty young for a demon. She was still figuring out contracts, and there was something intriguing about his that would’ve made a difference to how other demons see her. She felt if she could prove herself, people would take her seriously, she’d finally be worthy of having respect and adoration. But of course, you and I know that’s not how it really works, not in a healthy relationship at least. The more I dive into who they are, the more I realize that they have a lot in common. So much so that I kind of started to ship the two, and that lead to my making a separate sim of Grant just so I could have the two try and date.  Now, they’re dating, and it’s kind of cute. I can’t make demons in the Sims, so Belphene is a vampire, and it actually gave me an option, once Grant took interest in her vampirism, for him to ask to be turned. I’m not gonna lie, this kind of intrigues me. Maybe it’s just because I’ve seen a demon Grant before (he’s the Sin of Greed in a shared AU my gal pals and I have), but I can totally see him as a demon in the future. They’d work together, she’d show him all the ropes, and he’d use his legal expertise (he’s big on following rules as well as bending them) to make sure they don’t have a bad contract again. They both go from feeling like lesser as people to getting the love they craved all along. I can see them both becoming better people too, kinder, gentler, maybe a bit more mischievous on Grant’s end. What do you think? Depths as a story is all about healing, and it’s not just for our protagonists. I want to help as many people as possible, because danggit these characters deserve to feel better, to have a better life after all they’ve been through.

Whatever comes next, I’m glad I got to try things with these two, and I’m excited to continue experimenting.

Adventures in the Sims 4: JDS-Depths Edition

So I made a small family that’s meant to be roughly the same group of people commonly found in Joey’s apartment for my fic, Searching the Depths. Today I have some references for Joey, Eliza, Bella, and Belphene. Warning, these screenshots include characters in their underwear/swimsuits, so viewer discretion is advised if that makes you uncomfortable. 

So without further adieu, let’s get started!

First off, the man himself, Joey Drew!

If you recall from a long time ago, I first made my Joey’s design in the Sims 3, which I barely got to play before my old laptop and Origin started having issues. It was super important for shaping my dapper fella, and I’m glad I did it. I refer to my Joey as Giuseppe, since he’s the son of Italian immigrants, and that’s the Italian name for Joseph. He’s very suave while also being casual for the Simsverse, and I think this is a fun take on him in modern times. I couldn’t get quite the right combover for him, but that’s okay, this works just as well. You may’ve noticed the posing and the ears. Well, because I am very irresponsible, most of this family is made up of spellcaster sims, save for one that we’ll cover at the end.

This is the first time I’ve really tried to design Eliza Stein. Yes, you heard me, I said Stein. If you haven’t read my fic before (you’re missing out), you may not be familiar with her, but this is the daughter of Henry and Linda, who often ends up being babysat by Joey after Henry’s death. She’s got her father’s unnatural orange eyes, she’s super curious and fun-loving, and gosh darn it is she creative as all heck. She asks for a million stories at bedtime, she loves wearing galoshes everywhere (which proves useful later on) and she’s always eager to help out. Her outfits were really tricky to settle on. I find kids in overalls to be adorable, but and since she likes to romp around, that fit very well. But I also love those little dresses, like aaahhhh she’s so stinking cute!

Next we have our dear Bella Ewe, the theater employee Joey knocked off a ladder. Bella is very near and dear to my heart, and she’s been important to the world of Depths since before its first reboot. She’s almost always clad in her father’s old cap, she loves wearing red, and she’s got a spirit that brightens the world just a little bit more. I spent a little extra time playing with her formal look. Given Giuseppe isn’t the great of guys, he’s insistent on presenting her work as having come from a man. I wanted to give her some looks that were both feminine and a little more neutral, so I love having her in that button up shirt and coat. All of her looks with gloves are some of my favorites here. 

Next, we have Belphene Farah. This is the primary one I had the warning for. ^^’’’’ Belphene is the demon Joey contracted to help make the ink machine work, as well as bring his studio a lasting legacy in the history of animation. She’s not the greatest at making contracts, or at least she wasn’t when she met Joey, but she’s grown since with the help of an accountant. She’s flirtatious, loves to mess with people’s heads, and overall a delight to write for. I sadly couldn’t find anything that fit the flapper dress I’d usually put her in, but her formal wear comes close enough for a modern take. Because she’s a demon, I opted to work with her as a vampire for this one, just for the fun of it. 

Last but not least, we have Bendy, represented as a pet cat. Joey doesn’t have a pet cat in my canon, but Bendy as a cartoon is often speaking to various characters in dreams, Bella included, so I figured it could be fun to have him in here. Lord knows he’s gonna be a handful. ^^’’’
