Look, there's that man upstairs. He's different. Why don't I ever know people like that? Hmm? Why don't you give me him for Christmas, Pye? Why don't you give me him?

Popular Christmas song "Carol of the Bells" is based on a Ukrainian song called "Shchedryk" and was originally arranged by Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych. In 1921 undercover soviet state agent asked to stay the night at composer's' family home. In the morning he killed Mykola Leontovych and robbed his family.
"Shchedryk" was created while Mykola Leontovych was staying in Pokrovsk, city the russians are desperately trying to capture and are turning into ruins right now:

y/n knows little about Sun and Moon prior to meeting them apart from what they’ve learned from growing up with local legends.
text from character sheets and close-ups below the cut
KRAMPUS MOON
According to legend, he steals away naughty children… in actuality, Moon takes away children who are starving, abused or otherwise in-need and spirits them away to Sun’s workshop.
Gruff billy goat-man, hundreds of years old.
Calls humans “kids” regardless of age.
Hates warms weather—hibernates during the summertime.
Lives in a very homey cave connected to a network of natural hotspring pools.
Smells like musk and pine.
Made the basket and all his clothes himself.
Likes to go ice-fishing.
SANTA SUN
Overseer of a grand wonderland workshop of toys and marvels populated by hundreds of “elves”… who are actually immortal children who have chosen to stay after being brought to the magical place by Moon.
Bronze clockwork automaton created hundreds of years ago.
A bit out or touch with humans—especially adults—but loves making and giving toys to children.
An accomplished blacksmith and metalworker.

The Oleksandr Koshytsia Choir, 1922. It was them who introduced “Shchedryk” to America.
Its haunting melody was later adapted into the popular “Carol of the Bells” in English, making it a Christmas classic worldwide.

that’s all we need because it’s all we can take.
chapter 23 of @heavilycaffeinatedsblog’s silver bells almost made me tear up because of its coziness. so my hand slipped. also this version of instant crush was playing non stop while i was drawing. you can play it if you want it will give you an additional vibe

I think chapter 21 of @heavilycaffeinatedsblog's Silver Bells might be one of my favorite chapters. It was so fun seeing the whole group play white elephant and Keith's reaction to Lance's gift was adorable. The icing on the cake was the mistletoe scene and i had to draw it, so here it is. I also made an extra effort with this drawing because i felt like this scene deserved it.

read 'Silver Bells' by @heavilycaffeinatedsblog if you haven't yet. this took me way longer than it really needed to. there are references all over the place (as well as shoutouts to some of my favorite fanfics (hard to find because tumblr) and a skyrim easter egg ((i don't know why i did that last one, brain rot i guess)))
this is from chapter eighteen and maybe not super accurate to certain descriptions but was the most fun I've had drawing in a while. so thanks for that caf and keep up the good work.

So we've all heard of the "I Want Song" genre in musicals.
But what about the "Let's talk about the bitch behind their back like they're not in the room" song, or "singing s*** behing a bitche's back". There's a surprising amount of them.
Tumblr media
"Belle" from Beauty and the Beast
Tumblr media
"Scrooge" from Muppet Christmas Carol
Tumblr media
"Maria" from The Sound of Music
Tumblr media
"Look at Me I'm Sandra Dee" from Grease
Tumblr media
"You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" from How The Grinch Stole Christmas
Tumblr media
"Jackass In a Can" from Galavant
Tumblr media
"Phony King of England" from Robin Hood
Tumblr media
"Stepsister's Lament" from Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella
Tumblr media
"Non-Stop" from Hamilton
And, of course, the man, the myth, the legend...
Tumblr media
"We Don't Talk About Bruno" from Encanto
You can learn a lot about a character and story from what they sing versus what other people sing about them.
