Begoña, the Skam España director, and Celia, who plays Viri, have talked to Wonx about s3.
See the highlights under the cut:
Celia doesn't feel like people have typecast her as Viri. Celia and Viri have some things in common. She feels whatever life throws at both her and Viri, they both fight fight and keep going. The biggest difference is in how they dress.
Begoña feels the hardest part of directing is not getting to do everything she wants to do in a given day, because there isn't enough time or because it rained that day. Basically lack of time.
Viri is going to find a way to deal with her problems in a healthier way, rather than putting on a mask. Begoña thinks we'll really be able to see life through Viri's eyes. She thinks Viri is a mixture of strength and vulnerability and Viri will have a journey. Viri feels she has to give the world the best version of herself, Viri doesn't know that sometimes you can allow yourself to be sad, melancholic, or angry. Viri doesn't allow herself to feel however she feels, and she suffers as a result.
When people started recognizing Celia in the street, she first felt nervous, but now she feels pride that people identify so strongly with Skam España.
The season will handle two big topics, but they say they can't give up what those topics are.
Celia would go on a trip with Alba because Alba likes going to faraway places. She'd be roomies with Hajar, because she knows Hajar would respect her privacy. Celia would party with Alba or Irene.
The season in 3 words: emotional, necessary, feminist.

LA SCRIPT INTERVIEW WITH BEGOÑA ÁLVAREZ (THE DIRECTOR) AND HAJAR BROWN (AMIRA)
Transcript:
María: Look, Pepa, I don’t know if you feel the same way, but lately, I feel younger.
Pepa: Well...
María: It’s true that confinement has taken away my social life, but it has also taken away some wrinkles.
Pepa: Well, we’re gonna talk about people as young as you, or even younger, if it’s possible, cause today we’re talking with the director and the protagonist of Skam España’s fourth season, Begoña Álvarez and Hajar Brown!
Hi, how are you girls? How’s everything going? What’s up?
Begoña: Hi
Pepa: Thanks for being in La Script
Hajar: Hello.
Begoña: Thanks to you!
Hajar: Thanks to you for inviting us
Pepa: Well... Nah, man! We are really happy because you finally have a date for next season. Shooting was stopped due to Coronavirus but everything’s back again. Tell us a bit about that date, give us the news, and then... how’s all this process been? How it also has affected you, in some way?
Begoña: Well, we finally have a date, like you’ve said, we are gonna go back to shooting on July 4th. We love working on a weekend (ironic), it’s what happens with teenagers, we really like working on a weekend (laughing).
Pepa: Discos aren’t fully opened, eh?
Begoña: I know, I know, but there’s no problem, we have a Plan B! We have had a lot of months to keep cooking up (ideas), and we have a Plan B. And, we start working on July 4th, because, all of this hiatus came upon us with half of the season already filmed and... we now are challenged by the stuff we still need to shoot. And, well, (we are) really excited and really looking forward to it. It’s been rough, suddenly not being able to see the team and the cast.
María: And have you incorporated Coronavirus in the show?
Begoña: Well... we’ve wondered a lot about it, I imagine like all fiction projects that were affected by this in a really direct way... We’ve wondered a lot about it, we’ve examined all possibilities, but, in truth, in the end you get to a conclusion: the future is so unclear. Like, we don’t even know right now, it seems like Summer is here and everything is over...well, it isn’t over. So, well, we’ve looked for a solution and are trying not to disappoint. Also, it’s a show that’s really attached to reality, really attached to reality, but it’s also true that it happened with half of the season already filmed. So... the decision we’ve come to I think it’s gonna appease (the fans), and it’s not gonna disappoint (them).
María: It’s really interesting. Skam is as a show really alive, that... before the interview Begoña was telling us that she started the show not even knowing much about Instagram and that you are now involved in...in...in TikTok. Each season has had a protagonist, a different protagonist, and in this fourth one, Hajar, your character of Amira (she actually pronounced it wrong, called her “Amina”) is the main character. In the trailer we’ve seen that you’ll talk about all of the hot topics of a muslim teenager with her scarf, with botellón*, with “I’m a feminist”. How are you feeling... Do you feel a responsibility with your character? How are you handling it?
Hajar: Of course, I feel an enormous responsibility, but because I’m the first one that needs to see characters like this in... in fiction. So, I hope... like, with the team I have, with Skam, like... Starting my career as an actress in a project that’s so... amazing, so loyal, so truthful to my own values, to what I believe in, and that represents me, I think is, like, the biggest thing that’s ever happened to me and also, it’s super easy to make. That responsibility, that pressure, that seems like... me being the first muslim actress with a headscarf and trying to do the stuff from another point of view, from our point of view, without clichés or anything, well... it’s making everything easier, with the team and with the people I’m surrounded by.
Pepa: There’s something I read some time ago, and it was that you had studied drama, that you had done some drama works, and then you followed other paths, and that you said “if I had had characters like mine, maybe I wouldn’t had dropped it,” and there you can see the importance of representation. So that responsibility that María was talking about - I’m sorry for making you get into this, beautiful - is doubled in your case, in some way, no? Like, the importance of representation in Spanish fiction, because there are not that many.
Hajar: Yes, yes, yes, like, whether you want it or not, a role model shapes you since you are very little. I remember my classmates saying “I want to be an actress,” “I want to be a dancer.” And I was, like, I would love to be something like that, but, there aren’t people similar to what I am, even in aesthetic or in color, or in livelihood, in culture. So I would then think that I don’t have a place there, or that I can’t do stuff like that. So... I hope I do it right, I hope I can live up to expectations. (laughs) And I’m trying to do it as well as I can, and, let’s see how it goes. I think it’s gonna be cool. Under my criteria, I think it’s gonna be good.
María: Begoña, you, as a director, have you... it’s a film (another mistake here) that has a lot of contact with reality, with rough parts, right? It talks about... it talks about sex, about bullying, relationships, bisexuality... Like, it talks about everything that’s happening in the streets right now with the youth. In this season, with Amira (again, she said “Amina”) as the protagonist, what are the key points? What is the stuff you wanted to highlight?
Begoña: Well, really, this last season, that was a really special season because when we finished with this one, we then focus, as you said, on the character of Amira. We basically discuss this... difficulty that the others don’t pay attention to... this difficulty of juggling between these two cultures, and there are a lot of really rightful and very necessary concerns, like racism, micro-aggressions (or micro-racism), how to make a religious option absolutely voluntarily work, everything that provides her... For us is really important, for example, in this season, to portray what Islam provides Amira’s character, because a lot of times we don’t... we don’t really delve that deep (into it). And, from that, trying to comprehend what’s she’s going through and what her difficulties are. We talk about feminism, like why can’t she be a feminist? We have a warrior here... (laughs) That proves that that’s not what it’s like. And we also continue talking about friendship and the importance of a healthy, loyal and true friendship between women, that it’s what makes us so much stronger. We started with five girls that were practically strangers, some of them hadn’t met, and throughout these two years they have become sisters.
María: Well, there’s a really interesting thing in Skam and that’s their lives... the double life of Skam, that is also on social media. In this season, is there gonna be any controversy on social media with your character?
Hajar: Well, it’s gonna get people talking. I think, either positively or negatively, but it’s gonna get people talking, so, I think that’s good, because it’s something, first of all, new, and because it’s new... I think everybody’s gonna talk about it.
Begoña: We don’t wanna be combative, but we want to get people talking and, just like all the other seasons, (we want it to) make us stop and think, so that all of us can help make this a bit better.
María: Well, I was referring exactly to that controversy of debate; opening some new windows into what’s happening in our society, that I think it’s wonderful, and that’s not always... teen shows don’t always show it so sincerely.
Well, thanks a lot to the two of you for being with us. (I wish you) the biggest of luck, because we are really looking forward to Skam España.
Pepa: So hurry up! (laughs)
Begoña: We’ll go running to work then!
María: See you
Pepa: Thanks a lot
Hajar: Thanks a lot
All: Bye!

Edad: A partir 4 años. Autor: Begoña Oro y Almudena Aparicio Editorial: Beascoa Precio: 15,95 euros

For the people worried that Skam España may skip the cuddle scene or some other scenes since the show is mixing up the order of things just like they did in s1, Begoña Álvarez --the director and producer-- said in an interview yesterday that "there are iconic, mythical moments that we do not want to lose (among other things, because we are very fans of SKAM og) and we think it is a nice tribute to respect them as it was done in the original version. In this season there will be more iconic moments that will appear throughout the weeks. "

Interview with Skam España’s Dilan
Read and watch in Spanish. | Translation to English under the cut!
[Note: despite what this interview would have you believe, Dilan’s name is spelled with an i. See the show’s credits for proof:]
Tumblr media
Who do you play and what’s he like?
GONZALO: Well, I play Dilan on Skam España and I’m friends, like, I’m in the squad with Lucas, Jorge, my friend Hugo… I’m someone who loves to laugh it off, carefree when it comes to studying, love, all these things that worry teens so much. Instead I like to go with the flow and laugh things off, so I’m kind of like the funny guy in the squad.
Any similarities to your character?
GONZALO: I’m a bit, very different from Dilan, but at the same time I’m very similar, because I do worry a lot about lots of things. And I’m not as carefree as he is, but on the other hand, I am actually the funny guy, I do love laughing at everything, I’m very social in that way.
What’s the relationship with your castmates like?
GONZALO: To be honest, there’s a really good vibe, everyone with everyone, there aren’t bad vibes with anyone, and it’s true that we have our inside jokes as a group. I’m the person who listens, usually, because I’m not as witty as Jorge [actor Tomy Aguilera] or Álvaro [character Hugo]. I’m more just reading and laughing at what they say and do.
What was shooting the first season like?
GONZALO: It was the first audiovisual project I’ve done, to be on something, a professional project. Geez, you’re getting paid! It’s like wow. Wow. Geez, a camera, lots of people, actors, extras, make up, hair, you can’t get a haircut, contracts, costumes and… Just like wow. It’s happening.
How do you handle social media?
GONZALO: [speaking about Dilan] I’m not really a guy who uses social media a lot, but I do show up on one of my other friends’ pictures. So I show up here and there, and it’s cool. [speaking about himself] I also like the affection shown through… The viewer, the fans, when they talk on social media about all that is happening, we’re all like ahh, geez, geez. Look at what they’ve said! Or… we all share tweets that are like, really, really funny, on the whatsapp group the cast has.
What are you hoping happens in season 2?
GONZALO: Let’s see how we handle this deal with Jorge and Eva having broken up at last. For instance, Lucas coming out, which is being talked a lot on Lucas’ channel, I hope it’s developed a little on what is the show itself.
Any gossip?
GONZALO: Right, so in season 1 there was a background actress and like, geez, she’s really nice and she’s really cute and stuff, and I told my friends from the show, like, my buddies. And straight up, as soon as I turned my back, they went to talk to her and said it. Listen, have you seen our friend? Listen, what do you think of him, listen, who do you like, I dunno. In the end we did agree to hang out with all that pressure and I talked to her a bit. We hung out and stuff, but no, there isn’t much more to the story.
The Spanish remake of SKAM, produced by Movistar+, has been a success among young (and not so young) people. A show that faithfully depicts today’s teenage society, which we’ve written about before.
However, if season 1 made us trip, season 2 is going to make us trip even harder. It’s going to be realer, closer and even more inclusive. We’ll be able to enjoy starting the 28th of March on Movistar+.
In order to get some details about season 2, we’ve interviewed one of the characters, Dilan, and the director, Begoña Álvarez.
“This show helped us see that, when it comes to the important parts, what we all have inside, we’re the same: in our biggest fears, feelings, shame… we’re all the same, there are no borders or generations,” the director says.
Spain takes a step further and, in its remake, it’s the first one to switch the lead character to continue telling the story in a different way.
“In every season, we open a little door and step into one of the leads’ universes. In this second season we’re going to step into Cris’ universe, and she’s going to have a beautiful journey, she’s going to fall deeply in love and she’s going to have to be very brave,” Begoña Álvarez teases.
“There are few role models and there are certain boys and girls who need role models to come out and move past certain situations. It’s a season that is very necessary because there’s a whole population that needs to be made visible,” Begoña Álvarez, who directs Skam España, admits.

Firefly Beta Release By Luke Timmins Plymouth
Luke Timmins Plymouth “We are proud to release the first public beta version of Firefly, our new wallet for Chrysalis. This marks an important milestone in the lead up to Chrysalis - the biggest network upgrade in the IOTA Foundation’s history - and gives the community a first taste of what the future of IOTA has in store. The Chrysalis migration will start on April 21st 2021 and the network will go live on April 28th 2021. A production-ready version of Firefly will be released for the Chrysalis migration. The migration is not possible yet!
Today’s Firefly Beta release showcases the new Chrysalis Network on our Public Testnet. This means extremely reliable transactions, very fast confirmations, reusable addresses, UTXO-based ledger state and more. We welcome you to try out the wallet and enjoy the new Chrysalis protocol.
Download Firefly
Firefly Beta is available to download on Mac, Windows and Linux. View the release here.
You can get tokens from the testnet faucet. Simply copy an address from Firefly and hit “request”.
Today we are also open sourcing the Firefly codebase. We will be using the issues and discussion boards so whether you are a designer, developer or simply an interested user feel free to get involved.
A robust wallet built for the future
Firefly has gone through many design iterations and we have arrived at what we think is an excellent balance of minimalistic design and usability. Every feature has been carefully thought through to reduce friction for beginners while still catering for more advanced users. Every view has been designed with future expansion in mind. This first version of Firefly is a very solid wallet that has been engineered for the long haul. We see Firefly as the gateway to the IOTA ecosystem and we have big plans for the future.
At Firefly’s core are two important open-source Rust libraries. Stronghold, which entered Beta last week, is a significant innovation for the IOTA Foundation and the first open-source library of its kind in our industry. Stronghold has two key functions for Firefly. Firstly, it serves an isolated memory enclave for cryptographic operations. This means that whenever the wallet generates an address or signs a transaction, the process executes in isolation from the rest of the application. This important security barrier will allow Firefly to add all of the exciting functionality planned for the future, which can rely on cryptographic operations being performed by Stronghold without private key exposure. Second, Stronghold provides an encrypted key-value store for backing up your wallet secrets and transaction history. Stronghold backups can be used to import your profile on other devices.
The other key library is wallet.rs which takes care of all transaction logic and accounting. This modular core, written in Rust, together with the lightweight Svelte frontend makes for a highly performant and scalable application. Firefly has also been comprehensively audited by an external audit firm and will undergo additional audits as new functionality is added.
What’s next
Firefly has been in closed testing for a few weeks and is now in a largely stable state. Over the coming weeks - in the lead up to the Chrysalis migration - we will be fixing any remaining bugs, testing the migration within a closed group, testing the Ledger Nano integration and adding any minor features that didn’t make it into this first beta version.
Once Chrysalis goes live, the team’s attention will shift to building the mobile version, while we also work on features like contacts and chat, and explore some of IOTA’s upcoming features, like Digital Assets.
Firefly has been a big team effort with involvement throughout the IOTA Foundation. The Firefly development team (Lucas Nogueira, Umair Sarfraz, Begoña Álvarez, Martyn Janes, Rajiv Shah and Charlie Varley) have worked day and night to get the app ready and the Design and UX Teams (Andrew Brough, Janis Vegis, Aleksa Krstic, Marcos Andrade, Igor Nilsen and Sabri Goldberg) have truly excelled themselves.
Many thanks to the fantastic group of alpha testers from the IOTA community who dedicated their evenings and weekends to bug hunting, improvement suggesting and feature testing. And a huge thank you to the translators, who have gone over and above and raced each other to complete their translations every week. We have been humbled by everyone’s willingness to contribute their time towards Firefly and the IOTA project. Onwards and upwards.
Firefly will develop in the open and the team is always open to your suggestions and feedback. You can join the conversation in #firefly-discussion on our official Discord’.

SKAM ESPAÑA: ASÍ SERÁ LA TEMPORADA FINAL
Transcript below the cut:
Presenter (Iñaki). Hello everybody, and welcome to the presentation of the fourth and final season of Skam. I’m gonna… With due respect, I’m gonna take my mask off but just to be able to talk, we are maintaining a safe distance on the stage. The fourth and final season of Skam, an original production of Movistar + along with Zeppelin. And here, on stage, and in Digital Studio we have with us all main characters of this fourth season. We have - I’m gonna be reading bit by bit everyone that’s gonna be here, by the way, thanks to all the fans that are watching us live, we’ll say goodbye to you later, for the press conference, but thank you for being there and following the show. We have with us the two brains that make Skam so cool. We have… We have Rafa Taboada and Begoña Álvarez. Begoña Álvarez is the… I wanna read it correctly: “director and executive producer of Zeppelin”. Welcome, thank you a lot.
Begoña: Thanks a lot.
Iñaki: Let’s see, we’re always gonna be doing the…
Begoña: Protocole.
Iñaki: The protocole: mask, we take it off. Thanks for being here, Begoña.
Begoña: Thanks to you.
Iñaki: We have Rafa Taboada, colleague in Movistar, executive producer of the show. How are you?
Rafa: Really excited to be here. I only have to add that there are a lot more brains that make Skam possible, and a lot more important than me. Not more important than Begoña, but more than me. A lot of people from Movistar have poured a lot of love into the show, and a lot of people from Zeppelin and the producers have been working very hard in this four seasons and have made possible us being here, because we started in smaller rooms than today’s.
Iñaki: Well, there are more than two brains then. Okay? And, of course, if you have taken a closer look in the master shot from the crane, here we have Skam four protagonists. We have - wave with the hand and take down the thing, okay, so people see you at home and know you are for real - we have: Irene Ferreiro, Cris in the show.
Irene: Hii
Iñaki: How are you?
Irene: Fine, I can’t complain.
Iñaki: Yeah? Do you have a hoarse voice?
Irene: Just a bit.
Iñaki: The AC.
Irene: Yeah
Iñaki: The AC. That also happens to me. Nicole Wallace, Nora in the show and Celia Monedero, hello girls, how are you?
Both: Hello
Nicole: Very good
Iñaki: Are you alright?
Nicole: Yes
Iñaki: Yeah? Say hello to the viewers. All the fans are watching us.
Nicole: Hi
Iñaki: Celia, you as well. There, there is Celia. We also have… We left her as the last one, cause she’s the main character of the fourth season: Hajar Brown. How are you, friend? Cause we are already friends.
Hajar: Hello! Cause we are already best friends.
Iñaki: Hajar is the main character. How are you, are you nervous?
Hajar: Fine, fine, focused.
Iñaki: Yeah?
Hajar: Yes, like always
Iñaki: Like always
Hajar: Like always
Iñaki: Well, there we go. And, apart from the people we have here on the Movistar Stadium stage, in Digital Studio, thanks to Digital Studio, we have more people. Because we have more surprises, so let’s start greeting everyone. Let’s go slowly. The first person that we’re gonna greet is… do you see her with the pink hair in a place a bit like that?? She’s filming a movie and she’s making some time for us. Alba, how are you?
Alba: Hellooo. Really good, really good. How are you?
Iñaki: No, no, here you are the important one. Are you alright?
Alba: Very good, very good.
Iñaki: That hair is because of the film or because you wanted to?
Alba: No, no, it’s a job thing.
Iñaki: Well, it doesn’t look bad on you.
Alba: Thanks a lot.
Iñaki: Apart from Alba, you are noticing that, for example, Alejandro Reina is here. How are you? Hello
Alejandro: Good
Iñaki: Tamara Ronchese. Hello, Tamara
Tamara: Hello, hi.
Iñaki: How are you?
Tamara: Fine, fine, fine.
Iñaki: Fernando Lindez
Fernando: Hello, Iñaki, how are you?
Iñaki: What’s up, dude?
Fernando: How are we? Hehe
Iñaki: In the rehearsal… I’m gonna say it, okay? In the rehearsal I was asking at what hour did everyone go to sleep last night… and the one who won, in going to sleep early, was Fer. Okay? You can say it. At 11 pm
Fernando: At 11, at 11.
Iñaki: Amazing. And the last one, but not less important - that’s an idiom, but he is also really important -, Lucas! What’s up, dude?
Lucas: What’s up, Iñaki, how are you?
Iñaki: Well, we’ve run through the lineup of everyone that’s going to be in the presentation of this fourth and last season of Skam, and now… Well, we’ve been seeing the trailer, well, I wasn’t allowed to do it, but… They have been watching the trailer, in the backstage, and they screamed a lot. Let’s go with the Season 4 trailer.
[Season 4 Trailer]
Iñaki: That’s… That’s the season 4 trailer. The cast started dancing here… Hajar Brown, the season 4 main character, let’s talk for a bit, okay? Because… The fans of the show already know this, but this last season follows Hajar’s character. Let’s see, what can you tell us about the character? Without spoilers,  I’m very scrupulous with these things!
Hajar: Shut it, I… I feel like my face is already a spoiler, so I’m really scared, let’s see what I say, but I’ll be cautious.
Iñaki: Of course, it’s a spoiler…
Hajar: Really, my eyes can tell you all the plot…
Iñaki: How have… how have you taken in your character, for this 4th season?
Hajar: Ummm… I thought it was gonna be way easier than it turned out to be, to be honest, basically because supposedly we’ve already been knowing Amira this last 2 years, supposedly… yeah, that, I’m… The plot…
*Iñaki shushes*
Hajar: See, see? What I was saying…
Iñaki: I was seeing you, I was seeing you doing it.
Hajar: I knew it, and that’s what my mother said to me, like “don’t talk too much because you will spoil something”.
Iñaki: Well, if you want… What has the character meant for you, Hajar?
Hajar: Ummm… Well, a challenge. Like, I’ve always said this, I’ve always believed strongly in this, and I’ve always needed and wanted role models similar to me, that would go… I don’t know, similar to me, with my fight, with… with my stuff, and being myself the one that has had to step forward well, it’s… it’s an honour making… making this show, like this, and with these people, like, the best.
Iñaki: I’m not gonna ask you any more questions, okay? To… To avoid… Because I already saw you before that you were this close.
Hajar: Yeah, yeah, I’m really a blabbermouth.
Iñaki: Hajar, really good. Really good. Hajar is gonna be the season four main character, and then, also, thank you Hajar, we have, in Digital Studio, Lucas, that plays Dani in the show, and that is gonna gain a lot of weight in this fourth season. I’m not spoiling anything with this, right Begoña, Rafa?
*Begoña says no with her head*
Begoña: You’re good
Iñaki: I’m good?
Begoña: Good. Correct.
Iñaki: I’m not gonna do a Hajar.
Rafa: You’re in line.
Iñaki: I’m not gonna do a Hajar. Let’s see, Lucas, my friend, what are we gonna discover about your character, about Dani?
Lucas: Well… If in the second season we saw him more protective, more… more like a big brother, more… helper, now… now I think that stuff’s gonna happen that he’s gonna want to live, and that will make him be more vulnerable, more… more overflowing with emotions, and with desires, and, well, we’ll see a funnier, tender, clumsier Dani. That’s what I think it’s gonna happen.
Iñaki: Even more tender?
Lucas: Even more tender.
Iñaki: Wow
Lucas: Are you ready?
Iñaki: I love it, I love it. Ummm… Lucas, umm… great. Thanks a lot Lucas, Hajar
Lucas: Thanks to you, I send a kiss to all of you from here, okay?
Iñaki: Of course! That’s it!
Lucas: To the director (he used “dire”, an affectionate term for director), to the girls, to Rafa
Iñaki: They are here
Irene: I love you
Rafa: Handsome!
Lucas: Me too
Hajar: *draws a heart in the air*
Irene: He heard me!
Iñaki: Thanks, Lucas! Thanks, Hajar! But, we’re gonna go on cause we have to talk with all the main characters. Let’s see, I’m gonna get comfortable because I suffered the third season a lot, because, even if you don’t believe me, and even if I have a beard with a lot of gray areas, I watch the show with my cousin María, and we talk about it via messaging, via Whatsapp, and so. Let’s see.. The third season girls.
Nicole: Yes?
Iñaki: Nicole. Celia. Why? Why everything? Why the money from the trip to Mallorca? I understand it
Celia: Ah, okay
Iñaki: No, no, you know, we understand it
Celia: Okay, okay
Iñaki: But… damn, ummm… it was a great season, the third one, Nicole
Nicole: Thanks a lot
Celia: Yes
Iñaki: How… How… How was it, that… reunion with the characters after everything we’ve been through?
Nicole: Well, it was very nice, to be honest, no?
Celia: Yes
Nicole: It was… I think one of the seasons… at least for me, obviously, because *laughs* I was the one with the most weight in it, but… I enjoyed it a lot and… and then, seeing each other after (all that’s happened) was… now it’s really sad, cause I’m really sad that I won’t be able to see them anymore, but… but good.
Celia: Yeah
Iñaki: And Celia, what about you?
Celia: The same thing. Really nice and… oooof, I never want to step away from this, I swear.
Iñaki: I’ve won two awards during my life, two, and I’m not gonna say what they were for, they are not important, okay?
Celia: Okay
Nicole: Perfect
Iñaki: One was “Mister Friendliness” in High School, that’s it, okay? How did you see the award that you won… that was won at the festival, the Equality award?
Nicole: Well, I was in Málaga with some friends when we… found out… when I found out, and it was amazing, to be honest
Celia: Yeah
Nicole: I think that was the best award they could’ve given us.
Celia: Yes
Nicole: Really cool. I didn’t see it coming at all, at least for my part. It was so sudden, also in the middle of… it had already finished, there was nothing on air, that suddenly they were giving it to us, it was cool.
Celia: Yes. In all honesty, it was unexpected and an honour.
Iñaki: For the ones that have been living under a rock, I’m gonna read why are they giving them the award, conceded by CIMA, the “Association of Filmmaker Women”, for contributing in extending the feminist values among young audiences, which is really important. But don’t make me suffer, okay?
Celia: I’m sorry
Iñaki: Does the fourth (season) make me suffer?
Nicole: It depends. It depends on what is suffering for you *laughs* No, no, I don’t think so. No, no, it’s not our turn to do so. It’s time for other people to do so
Iñaki: Shut up!!!
Nicole: Everybody suffers
Iñaki: No! No! Everybody suffers, okay, you saved it. Let’s go with Digital Studio, cause we have Fernando on the other side… Fernando, my buddy, Fernando! What’s gonna happen with your character, with Alejandro, because at the end of the third (season) we left him a bit…
Fernando: Yes hehe. Well, I can’t tell you exactly what’s… what’s gonna happen with Alejandro, but… I think… I think Alejandro’s character has evolved a lot during the show’s runtime. Like, at the beginning you could see Alejandro more concerned about his appearance and… and conditioned by the leadership he had within his group of friends. I think… I think that this season, the last one, is gonna be very interesting, to see the evolution from a teenager to a mature youth that… that shows openly his sensibility and… and his simplicity.
Iñaki: Fuck… Applaud, applaud!
Irene: Bravo, bravissimo
Nicole: Olé, handsome!
Celia: Really good
Iñaki: I’m not gonna ask you anything more, dude, like… you explained it perfectly. You did it perfectly
Celia: Yes, yes
Iñaki: Like… great. Thank you, Fer. Thank you, girls.
Iñaki: We’re gonna continue to talk with the rest of the cast
*the girls laugh*
Irene: Okay, I know what that look means.
Iñaki: Do you know… You and Tamara… and I, we form a special triangle, because in one of the initiatives of Movistar+, I had to narrate your pool kiss.
*Irene laughs*
Irene: It’s true! I’d forgotten about that. I loved it.
Iñaki: I mean, we have a relationship that… we saw each other today and there was a connection, with the whole cast too.
Iñaki: Well, what’s going to happen to Cris this season? Generally speaking.
Irene: Yeah, no spoilers. I don’t know, I mean Cris has evolved a lot, I think, and she still has to keep evolving, she’s going to face some challenges, in her friendships and her relationship and, let’s see how she deals with it.
Iñaki: Well… Pff you can’t say anything, really. *girls laugh*
Irene: I’ll tell you later.
Iñaki: I was going to push her for more information but we’ll spoil the whole season. In the second season, there was a character with a big role, apart from Irene. Joana, the character named Joana, in Digital Studio. We have Tamara and Alex Reina, Joana and Lucas on the show. Skam’s boom, let’s have Tamara answer first and then Alex, how has Skam’s boom been for you? First season was a big deal, but the second… and don’t get me started on the third. How has this been for you?
Tamara: It’s crazy. I remember when they told me about the show I was playing in Austin, and when I came back everything had blown up already and it was like “oh, ok, perfect”. And then when the season came out, people loved it so much, it was so crazy. I remember when the kiss was trending, we were all freaking out. Very cool. What do you want me to say? Everything was perfect. *laughs*
Iñaki: And you, Alex?
Alex: I think that the first season, it was like watching it all from a little window, we were all like, hidden, no one knew who we were, and everything was a secret because of the format, and when it came out we all freaked out. I mean, the fans’ reaction was incredible. We were all very happy and we are very happy right now. We have constant support.
Iñaki: Would you like to send a message to the fans?
Alex: That we love them, as always, and thank you so much for being there and we are so happy that they can watch this season, because, with everything that’s happened, everything has been on hold and so we’re twice as happy that it’s coming out and people can watch it. Everything’s great, really.
Iñaki: Tamara, a message for the fans.
Tamara: The same, I’m awestruck by Alex, I love him so much. Wise words. *laughs*
Iñaki: It’s so cool what you have. It’s just like how you are in the show. Thank you guys, really. It’s been really cool talking to you. Thank you, Irene. Protagonists of the second season. Before, we have talked about the possibility of us talking to the protagonist of the first season, with Alba. She’s not here in the studio because she’s busy. She’s busy… Alba, for the people who are just tuning in, what are you doing? Where are you?
Alba: Well, look. I’m here, inside a trailer, because I’m filming, can’t say what, but…
Iñaki: Are you filming a movie?
Alba: Yes.
Iñaki: So, from being the person that… your character being, in the first season, the one that breaks the ice; to filming a movie. Not bad, right? The jump.
Alba: No, it’s been super cool, plus, we started the first season like, holding Begoña’s hands like, please don’t let go. And I think that Bego, Tapi, the other director, the whole team, have sheltered us so much and showed us this path that has made possible that, now, each of us can start making our own way, and I’m super grateful, honestly.
Hajar: Aw, we love you!
Alba: I love you so much.
Iñaki: Alba, tell us something about your character in this season, without spoilers. I’m getting really serious about this, like an annoying teacher.
Alba: Ok, so, I don’t think I can spoil anything because I’ve already forgotten everything that we’ve filmed. But, I think that Eva is still having a great time, she’s going to go back a bit to the Eva of the first season, and she’ll mess up a bit, can’t say how.
Iñaki: But she’ll mess up like… sorry, like the first season? Or more?
Alba: No, a bit different, maybe with less tears, but yeah, different.
Iñaki: Ok, great, Alba. Thank you so much, we won’t bother you anymore because you have to keep doing whatever you’re doing that you can’t tell us about. Thank you, disconnect… we say goodbye from Digital Studio, we send you love, kisses,
The girls: Bye! Alba: Bye! I love you, sending you a big kiss!
Iñaki: Thank you Alba. The girl’s busy, right Begoña?
Begoña: She’s busy, yeah.
Iñaki: They’re all busy. Begoña Álvarez, director and executive producer of Zeppelin, the production company associated with Movistar for this original series. Let’s see, I don’t want to leave anything out. First, the award. We’ve been talking with Nicole… the award. The award that CIMA grants to Equality… for all the good and positivity of the show, how do you feel?
Begoña: Happy, proud, because we’re super grateful to CIMA, the “Association of Filmmaker Women”, that they’ve taken notice of a show like this, because it’s where we’ve put our focus on, specially on the third season, talking about toxic relationships and how easy it is to get into them and how hard it is to get out, and throughout the seasons we’ve tried to tell the stories of these girls with a feminist message, with empathy, sisterhood … very powerful. So it was very exciting and coming from that association that we love… We’re very happy.
Iñaki: Begoña, how… I mean, the ages of the… because I’m looking at them
Begoña: It doesn’t matter.
Iñaki: The ages of the team… it’s insulting. The cast is really young, how is it to work with such a young ensemble?
Begoña: It’s a rush, really. We’ve gone through some things, from them calling us “mom” or “teacher”...
Iñaki: What?
Begoña: I swear
Iñaki: Let’s stop right there, people like us, of a certain age, if you call us, this goes to you too (the audience), Mr or Mrs, the formal “you”, we don’t like that, ok?
Begoña: It’s tough
Iñaki: Who thought of “teacher”?
Begoña: None of them, it was Gonzalo, Dilan, who’s the youngest, the “teacher” thing happened a few times. But working with people so young is wonderful, because we’ve learned, we’ve all stepped up thanks to them, and it’s been really fun.
Iñaki: And how has it been for you, the evolution of the show in these two years?
Begoña: With a lot of joy and excitement, we’ve put so much into this show and we have a very small team, both the Zeppelin team and the Movistar team, the cast, it’s a small group of people doing something that’s very big. So, watching it grow, and watching them grow, literally, these two years, and how it’s been gaining importance and it’s transcending in the media and with the audience, the fans, it’s very satisfactory. Because it tells something very beautiful and very important. So, satisfactory, is the word.
Iñaki: It’s true, that’s the truth. Umm… Rafa
Rafa: Tell me
Iñaki: How… How do you feel being part of a team this cool, and that’s promoting such important stuff?
Rafa: First of all, fortunate of being able to be on a team this diverse, with so many points of view, and… I feel, as I said, fortunate of working in fiction that not only entertains, but that also leaves messages and some streaks of learning for those that want to catch them or detect them.
Iñaki: Why did you decide to tackle Skam?
Rafa: Well… Skam… We were all big fans of the original version, of the Norwegian show
Iñaki: Norwegian
Rafa: And we thought it was the perfect show to agglutinate the elements that we were interested in or the ones we wanted to tackle, a real show about teenagers and that lifestage, that approaches with respect their interests and conflicts, and… and also that it does so from an interest, peeping out of a window, seeing how they interact, how is the world, how… how do they see everyday problems, how they get over them… It’s not very easy to agglutinate those elements when you start making a show, and Skam gave us the really sturdy structure of a format that had them and had already worked.
Iñaki: And how did Covid affect… Because, we are wearing masks here in the presentation, we maintain a safe distance, that is a thing all of you watching have to do, always the mask on, I take it off to speak, but… How did all of that affect the show?
Rafa: Well, like everyone, we had to… we had to stop, we came back when we could, and format-wise, in what affects the broadcasting, I think before we go in depth talking about that, the cast can explain it better than anyone.
[Video of the cast explaining it]
Rafa: Well, we are going back to Amira’s story as if a pandemic hadn’t happened. I think that… We’ve all lost things due to the pandemic, like having to be here with more distance, with masks… But all of this is to try to enjoy what came before, and there’s so much stuff that the pandemic has stolen us, for some, in the worst case scenario, even loved ones. We thought Skam could be a small stronghold in this pandemic we’re going through, going backwards and seeing all that a generation, or some, have lost. Skam is gonna portray it how it should have been, and how we would like to be again, to remember for a bit what’s the objective, why are we struggling, why are we putting masks on, and why we have to be responsible, to go back to what we had before, that is very worthwhile.
Iñaki: “To come back is to win” is the hashtag
Rafa: “To come back is to win” like you say
Iñaki: That’s the hashtag we are using in Movistar + in sports. Begoña, Rafa, thanks a lot, girls, thanks a lot
The girls: Thanks to you
Iñaki: Also to the people that have accompanied us through Digital Studio, thanks a lot, because this presentation is ending for the fans. We are very sorry, we are gonna keep going with the questions for our journalist colleagues, so don’t you disconnect, and to the fans… what can we say to them, as a goodbye, apart from saying that on September 3rd the fourth and final season of Skam is starting?
The girls: That we love them
Iñaki: Skam is love, I love this gesture of love. Like, lots of love to all of you. Thanks for being there!
Nicole: Yes
Celia: Thanks a lot
Iñaki: Ciao!
