I sometimes genuinely think abt how weird my relationship w english is. I think in my head in english like 68% of the time. I forget turkish words and use the english one bc it comes to mind first and ppl think I'm showing off. I talk to myself in english randomly. I don't even live in an english speaking country. Sometimes it's easier to express myself in english. I have(not to brag but) stupidly good english. All this despite not:
-having relatives who speak english as their mother tongue
-having lived in an eng speaking country before
-having stupidly good teachers(besides that one time)
Basically next to 0 external influence besides stuff required for school.
Whats funny is that it wasn't even intentional. I got really into reading fanfiction like 5 years ago. My english improving was simply an unintended side effect.
#why take language lessons when you can just read fanfic#im planning to do this with spanish once i have a better grasp on it#im very beginner lvl atm lol#langblr#? maybe u guys will like this#what i mean is you can always learn a language as long as you like learning it#i learned english mainly through fanfic and i dont think most ppl would notice im not a native speaker if i didnt mention it#you guys can do it w whatever languages you're learning as well!!! dont give up!!

Your playtime of and love for FFVII transcends time, you heard it here first folks
Obviously 😎
though you jest but i still think a lot about the fact i replayed Crisis Core so many times on different PSP, knowing i usually take ~80 hours per playthrough, but unable to tell you how many times i played this game, so in fact my hours poured into ff7 are in fact transcending time completely because god knows how many hours i played that game. not me!!!! for sure!!!
#fun fact but when i was in artschool there was an obligatory beginner course for english#but i was already qualifying as fully fluent in English at this point so the lessons were agonizing for me#but i wasn't allowed to leave because it was still an obligatory course#so the teacher saw my predicament and also knew very well she wouldn't ask me to participate in class#because she needed to have people who are in needs of her lessons to participate#so she told me to just do whatever i wanted during her hours as long as i was quiet#.... so i spent my year in artschool bringing my PSP with me on English class playing Crisis Core when everyone else was studying#only tearing up once in a while enough for people to be wondering what the fuck was up#i also have the vivid memory of quoting a scene in english to people asking me if i understood the game#(since the voices were in english even if the subs were in french)#........ so huh rather unhinged glimpse into my ff7 brainrotted mind?#ichareply#anonymous#ichafantalks ffvii

Korean is such a humongous ass language because even if I know all or almost all the words thats connected to a sentence there’s like fifty different iterations of it an extra Chinese and English loan version and maybe atleast 10 topic markers and many more conjugations for that word… like lord when I’m fifty I couldn’t even be on the same level as a three year old (but I’ll be fluent or atleast ok soon / eventually 화이팅)
#as you can see I’ve FINALLY actually started to learn Korean#before I would like do one Duolingo level and then give up or find a Korean learning website study one lesson then give up bc I was busy#and this went on for YEARSSSS it was ridiculous#but now I’m actually digging in bc I bought a Korean learning book that motivated me#and now I’m a lot better but still it’s like there’s an entire Great Wall of China behind actually getting on an even early beginner level#it reminds me of when I started to learn French but French was A LOT easier bc we share the same alphabet a lot of French has made it over-#to the English language or to phrases that English speakers understand or the words are the same and the same SVO sentence structure#but Korean is a whole other beast like kpop and kdramas didn’t teach me SHIT#I’m scared for when/if I start to learn Chinese bc it’s basically the Voldemort of languages for English speakers#but Korean and Chinese share a lot of their language so atleast I’ll have that small stepping stone#also I have no one to speak Korean with even tho there’s so many Koreans here I’m just scared#like there’s this one Korean girl in my class and I’m learning certain phrases so I can speak and ask her questions but I’m still super shy#and what if she’s like ‘can this Koreaboo 년 stfu’ LIKE PLS I JUST LOVE LANGAUGE LEARNING

today was my last day as an EFL (english as a foreign language) teacher intern, and I got some cashew juice and cashew nuts (which are very typical for my region in brazil) from my students! I even did a speech at the end of the lesson trying to motivate them to keep learning english and gave them some tips. they were all very sweet, and I wish them the very best, especially considering this was the first time I taught anyone lessons.
#it was very hard in the beginning since they are beginners#and i had a hard time trying to adjust my english to that level#and i had to come to terms with the fact that i would have to speak in portuguese many times during the lessons#even though its best to speak in L2 as much as possible when teaching a second language#but since they were beginners it had to be done#but they were very nice and im glad they liked my lessons#tom speaks
