Drawing baby Bokushi in cute clothes because I can (part 8)
[Art related to my fic, Accidental Siblings.]
It's been a seriously hot minute since I've done anything for this series, but I'm back and you guys are in for a treat! I was looking at cat-themed clothes on the internet and really wanted to see baby Boku dressed in cat-themed clothes, so I screenshotted five of my favorite outfits and went to work.
Ever since I stopped using flat colors, my art has really come alive. Looking at my first-ever baby Boku OOTD art, there's so much improvement, which means I've come very far on my art journey in a short amount of time. I feel like I'm still solidifying my art style, though, so I expect it to change every so often. However, I think I'll keep my current one for a little while. Anyway, enjoy!
If anyone wants to request an outfit for me to draw baby Bokushi in, feel free to send it to me in any way you wish, whether that be through a reblog, an ask, or a DM. (❁´◡`❁)
#been a while since i was pretty satisfied with my digital art so this has me excited about my progress#i just think that bokushi would absolutely start incorporating cuter clothes into his wardrobe now that he's physically 5#especially since cat-themed clothes suit him so well#the last outfit was my fave to draw because i had baby boku in the most self-indulgent pose#i also included japeneselunchtimerush's hc of baby boku wearing mismatched socks#i did it for the culture ✊🏿#and you know i had to give the yukimaru plushie a comeback too#the second pose had me laughing after i finished it tho because he looks like he's at a school picture day#oh well#anyway i hope you guys like it!#kuroko no basket#knb fanart#my art#knb fanfic#accidental siblings#bokushi

The Webcomic Reviews Mini Reviews Masterpost, Part 1
People always ask me what I think of various webcomics, so I decided to start collecting my thoughts in one place! Click the images to go to the comic! Comic titles with a ⭐ after them are recommended, but even if I don't give a comic a star, that doesn't mean you won't like it.
[un]Divine ⭐
What is it: A highschooler sells his soul for a big titty demon gf, and now has to have anime battles against angels who keep trying to eat him.
The Good: Excellent art and monster designs, some of the better fights in webcomics.
The Bad: Danny is kind of a bland protagonist. The comic keeps threatening to veer into femdom porn, which may be a good thing for some of you. Comic is on permanent semi-hiatus and updates very infrequently
You should read it if: You wanna read a comic with big fights, big angels, and big titties.
Ava’s Demon
What is it: A bunch of kids possessed by demons have space adventures and are sad
The Good: Extremely good art. Occasional "high production value" moments with music and limited animation. The single-panel page format really highlights the art.
The Bad: Bland writing, weak characters. The single-panel page format really slows the flow of reading it.
You should read it if: Learning that the Wrath demon is named “Wrathia” doesn’t strike you as comically dumb
Awkward Zombie ⭐
What is it: It’s a comic that makes jokes about video games
The Good: It’s the best comic that makes jokes about video games
The Bad: If you haven’t played the game in question, you might not get the jokes. Awkward lack of zombies.
You should read it if: You like jokes about video games. I don't....it's not a complex premise.
Camp Weedonwantcha ⭐
What is it: A bunch of kids are left at summer camp forever by parents who’ve abandoned them to die. Wacky comedy and feel-good moments ensue.
The Good: Cute adventures with kids, reminiscent of some of the better Nicktoons from the 90s. Surprisingly emotionally effective when it wants to be.
The Bad: While the ending is satisfying in its own way, many plot threads go unresolved
The Terrible: Nickelodeon bought the rights and is sitting on them.
You should read it if: You like slice of life adventures with blasts of dark humor and feels
Cloudscratcher
What is it: Ducktales, with Genocide!
The Good: Cute and generally likable characters. Decently paced
The Bad: Doesn’t really excel at anything. Weirdly insistent about totally not being a furry comic even though it obviously is.
The Terrible: The author is a white nationalist, and the lack of link is intentional.
You should read it if: You like 80s cartoons and hate minorities
Cornucopia ⭐
What is it: A ninja is sent on a mission to literally steal candy from a nation of morons, fails.
The Good: Good art and well-paced storytelling. Clever use of different types of word balloons. High joke-per-page ratio
The Bad: Doofy tone may not be your cup of tea. Seems to have died young, though the first chapter is still a complete story
You should read it if: You like JelloApocalypse’s videos on YouTube, or his series Epithet Erased, since he made this
Dresden Codak
What is it: A genius inventor has wacky adventurers, then goes to a flying city and spends most of the comic’s run embroiled in a conspiracy run by evil anime villains.
The Good: The drawings are pretty. The early comedy adventures are quirky and charming.
The Bad: Panel layout and composition, especially early in Dark Science, is atrocious. Presents the comic as a feminist power fantasy, but the main character usually has her tits out and has had her clothes burnt off on multiple occasions.
The Terrible: The author is a notorious jerk. As of this writing, The Dark Science storyline has been running for eight years and has yet to reach a triple-digit number of pages, even though it’s a full-time job for which Diaz earns $4,000+/mo on Patreon.
You should read it if: You thought the best part of Ghost in the Shell was the lesbian orgy boat.
Drop Out (NSFW) ⭐
What is it: Two girlfriends go on a road trip to kill themselves in style
The Good: Short enough to be read in one sitting. Surprisingly good visual storytelling for a first comic. Realistic dialogue and high tension keeps you engaged even when not much is happening. Subtle details that don’t become apparent until a second read reward paying attention.
The Bad: Heavy subject matter. Lettering can be tough to read in early pages.
Content Warnings: Drug Abuse, Suicide, Mental Health Issues, Detransitioning….a list of all the difficult content in this comic would be so long it’d look like I’m making a joke. This is a heavy comic.
You should read it if: You like arty dramatic comics that deal with uncomfortable topics
Dumbing of Age
What is it: College students obsessed with late 80s-early 90s pop culture have relationship troubles
The Good: Of all the popular comics it’s trendy to shit on, this is by far the best. Solid gag-a-day strip with plots that move at a decent pace.
The Bad: Realistic depictions of abusive parents co-exists in the same comic as a literal superhero, leading to some jarring tonal confusion.
You should read it if: You like newspaper-style drama comics.
Everything Is Fine
What is it: Maggie and Sam are a normal married couple in a very strange world where proving your loyalty is the key to winning, and the best way to prove your loyalty is to show someone else is disloyal. And also everyone wears mascot suit cat heads all the time.
The Good: Well-written characters, a novel premise, and excellent pacing. I’m not the biggest fan of the webtoon “really tall page” format, but it’s taken advantage of at times for nice transitions
The Bad: The webtoon format can be irritating, and the worldbuilding is toeing the line between “compelling mystery” and “If there were two astronauts on the moon and one shot the other wouldn’t that be fucked up?”-ism.
Content Warning: Gore, Suicide themes. Every page with such content has a warning on it (which works better in Webtoon format, actually)
You should read it if: You liked the dystopian fiction fiction books you had to read in high school.
Gunnerkrigg Court ⭐
What is it: A girl attends a scientific school in a magical world that’s honestly not even slightly like Harry Potter but people say it is because they think J. K. Rowling invented British schools
The Good: Good art and fantastic panel composition. Slow-burning dark fantasy mystery.
The Bad: Takes a little while to find its groove. Starts feeling rushed and confusing near the end.
The Terrible: Boxbot
You should read it if: You like dark fantasy stories, or stories in general.
Homestuck ⭐?
What is it: A kid wants to play a video game but it’s downstairs and he doesn’t feel like talking to his dad yadda yadda yadda the universe explodes. Was briefly ungodly popular.
The Good: High production values, many updates are music videos with excellent music. Great character writing, especially in Act 5. Toby Fox, the creator of Undertale, did a lot of the music, and arguably isn’t even the best musician featured.
The Bad:The early part of the comic is brutally slow-paced, and is an impossible hurdle for some.
The Terrible: The ending is widely considered a major disappointment, and attempts to turn the comic into a franchise have been met with mixed reviews. The prose epilogues are deeply divisive.
Content Warning: A lot gorier than you might expect, mitigated by the cartoony art style, abusive relationships, the epilogue is just generally gross.
You should read it if: You want to see what the hell all those kids in grey face-paint at anime conventions were about
You should also consider: Just getting the music off the bandcamp, it’s really good.
Homestuck 2
What is it: A “dubiously canon” sequel to Homestuck, following from The Homestuck Epilogues, made by a different creative team. Follows two intersecting future timelines
The Good: The art is quite nice, and the new characters are fun and likable. Very bold in its ideas, for better or for worse it’s rarely boring. One of the few webcomics to be able to integrate trigger warnings clearly while remaining non-obtrusive with them. Faster-paced than the original Homestuck (low bar!) and has a few clever presentation ideas. Willing to be its own thing. If you’re worried it’s just “Homestuck 1 but more of it”, this is not that.
The Bad: Not at all a stand-alone comic, Homestuck 2 is completely incoherent if you’re not familiar with Homestuck 1 and the Homestuck Epilogues. Does not have the big multimedia productions Homestuck 1 was known for. Beloved characters from Homestuck 1 can come off really badly, which upsets a lot of people. If you’re looking for “Homestuck 1 but more of it”, this is not that.
The Terrible: At times, this comic is actively trying to piss off the readership by dragging out unpopular plot revelations. I actually like this about it, but unsurprisingly a lot of people don’t.
You should read it if: If you have to ask “Should I read Homestuck 2?”, the answer is probably “No”. This is a comic for people who are riding the Homestuck train to the bitter end.
You should also consider: Reading my Liveblog of it
Kiwi Blitz ⭐
What is it: A precocious young girl gets a Kiwi-shaped robot and decides to become a superhero ridding the world of nefarious furries. More of a cute character drama than a superhero comic, and more of a superhero comic than a mecha one.
The Good: Cute artstyle. Not without dramatic stakes, but fairly light and fun throughout minus a few people getting shot. The android 42 is stand-out great character.
The Bad: Prone to long hiatuses as the author's main comic is now Sleepless Domain.
You should read it if: You liked Sleepless Domain, and are looking for a somewhat lighter comic by the same author.
Latchkey Kingdom ⭐
What is it: A girl goes on adventures in a magical land of idiots
The Good: Good but not overbearing comedy. Tight chapters. Strong side characters
The Bad: Thanks in part to Patron-backed stories in between the “main” chapters, can feel like an episodic series with no main character or driving plot
The Neutral: Willa is a semi-silent protagonist, and often gets overshadowed by the wacky people she meets. Cerberus Syndrome, executed well
You should read it if: You like adventure, silly characters, and jokes about Dark Souls.
Leasebound
What is it: Two lesbians are contrived into sharing an apartment, then the comic becomes a polemic about how trans people are evil. The second-best TERF webcomic on this list
The Good: This comic has no redeeming qualities
The Bad: It’s hella transphobic, and not even particularly interesting about it the way Sinfest can be. Everything that’s not hateful is boring, and the comic is practically going “Go on, be offended, blog about me, give me atteeeennnnttttiiiiiooooonnn!”
You should read it if: You really shouldn’t, and I’m not linking to it
Least I Could Do
What is it: Rayne Summers is the best at everything and you should listen to him
The Good: This comic updates on time regularly. Sometimes it updates without word balloons by accident, making it surreally funny
The Bad: Poorly thought-out political rants; few jokes, severe overuse of beat panels, copy-pasted art.
The Terrible: Designed to go viral, not to be entertaining; makes panels wordless just so they can be used as preview images
You should read it if: You have committed horrible sins and wish to atone
Legend of the Hare
What is it: I wrote this! A white trash loser girl is peer pressured into becoming a magical girl by a pair of pushy rabbits. A spinoff of the print comic Blade Bunny, written and drawn by the current creative team of Saffron and Sage.
The Good: Bouncy and cartoony art. Strong and memorable characters. Very weird and freewheeling.
The Bad: The plot is an absolute mess, stalling out and even going backwards at times, though it mostly comes together at the end. The tone is wildly inconsistent.
The Terrible: Kind of South-Parky in its humor sometimes
You should read it if: You like Saffron and Sage and want to see a comic by the same team when they were less experienced.
Nan Quest ⭐
What is it: In this spiritual sequel to Ruby Quest, a goat girl electrician sets out to fix a broken fuzebox and ends up ensnared in a psychological horror conspiracy.
The Good: Much more effective use of the simple MS Paint art style, with more color and some simple animations (animated panels being marked [A], a convention Homestuck would later adopt for its [S] sound panels). The characters are better fleshed out than in Ruby Quest, and the horror is more effective as well, with less gore and more tension.
The Bad: Though used effectively, the art is still MS Paint doodles. The story mechanics behind the mystery are much more ambiguous, which can be a plus.
Content Warning: Gore, threatened sexual violence.
You should read it if: You like Ruby Quest and/or psychological horror comics that can be read in a few hours.
Moby: Back from the Deep
What is it: A zombie killer whale attacks a small town.
The Good: The art is nice
The Bad: Egregious overuse of narration.
The Terrible: It’s a beat for beat ripoff of the movie Jaws, down to some characters having their names only marginally changed from their Jaws counterpart (e.g. “Alex Gardener” is the name of the Alex Kintner analogue)
You should read it if: You can’t find a Jaws torrent.
Mokepon ⭐
What is it: A dickhead teenager is forced on a Pokemon adventure, and learns a valuable lesson about friendship while being dragged into a criminal conspiracy. A Pokemon fanfic that’s somewhat darker than the source material (though not really “grimdark”)
The Good: Good action scenes, nice manga-style art. Notable improvement in art and storytelling over time. Atticus’ slow-burn character growth is satisfying.
The Bad: The early chapters are almost a completely different comic, and it takes a little while to find its groove.
You should read it if: You liked Pokemon Special
Monster Pulse ⭐
What is it: Kids’ internal organs become sentient external organs, and they have to keep it a secret from an evil orginization.
The Good: Cool twist on the surprisingly rare monster pet genre. Not afraid to upend the status quo
The Bad: No real obvious flaws, but if you don’t find the premise interesting, you probably won’t like it.
You should read it if: You were a fan of monster-pet stories like Digimon Tamers
The Monster Under The Bed
What is it: A teenager finds a demon girl under his bed, rom-com ensues
The Good: Cute anime-esque premise
The Bad: Gets progressively hornier to to point where I'm not sure if I should even leave it on this list. Egregious use of photos instead of drawing backgrounds, making outdoor scenes look awful
You should read it if: You like trashy Japanese animes
Narbonic ⭐
What is it: A shlubby loser gets a job working for a mad scientist. Mad sciencey things occur, and the comic experiences an incredible jump in quality in the back half
The Good: Short comic, comfy and easy to read. The best and most satisfying ending arc of any webcomic ever.
The Bad: Some “LOLRANDOM” humor, especially early on.
The Terrible: The first few comics are almost literally unreadable due to messy handwritten lettering and low quality scans.
You should read it if: You love seeing a story build to a proper conclusion, and you don’t mind a rough start.
Octopus Pie ⭐
What is it: Slice-of-life dramedy where twenty-somethings try to become adults and/or get laid while navigating New York life. Completed comic.
The Good: If you direct your attention above, you will see the incredible coloring. There are other comics that have better plots and even better characters, but Octopus Pie is uniquely good at hitting a mood. Occasionally does some infinite canvas stuff that’s neat.
The Bad: This is a comic about exploring ideas and kind of drifting around through life, and isn’t a big plot-focused comic with a lot of big dramatic reveals. Which I don’t think is bad, but it might not be your thing.
You should read it if: You liked stories about adults trying to figure out how to grow up, and like seeing characters age.
Out-of-Placers ⭐
What is it: A human man is turned into a female rat creature, and has to navigate a low-fantasy world while learning their incredibly stupid ways and trying to get himself back to normal.
The Good: Really good worldbuilding, with interesting, fleshed out, and unique fantasy races. There are licensed Dungeons and Dragons books with less cool ideas for a campaign in them.
The Bad: Can get kind of edgy in ways that don’t always work, and occasionally gets a bit gross. If the premise made you think it was a furry fetish comic, it’s not, but it keeps threatening to become one if you don’t whap it with a newspaper and say “No” very firmly every now and then.
You should read it if: Your favorite DnD race is kobolds.
Paranatural ⭐
What is it: Kids bust ghosts in a parody of shounen anime tropes
The Good: Good banter, creative panel layouts, and characters you want to root for.
The Bad: The story rapidly increases in scale, causing the pacing to slow down somewhat. The story later transitions to an illustrated prose format, which some people can't really get into.
You should read it if: You liked Bleach before it became Dragonball
Prequel -or- Making A Cat Cry: The Adventure ⭐
What is it: An Elder Scrolls fanfiction, in which an alcoholic catgirl heads to a new land to try to make a better life, and generally fails.
The Good: Inventive use of the web as a storytelling medium. Great character writing. Lovable protagonist. Excellent payoff to years or life kicking the protagonist in the face.
The Bad: Years of life kicking the protagonist in the face. Can thus be depressing, especially early on, sometimes to the point of being offensive (see Content Warnings)
The Terrible: Very slow and irratic update schedule
Content Warnings: Alcoholism, Depression, the protagonist gets blackout drunk and wakes up in bed next to strange men several times, which is played for comedy.
You should read it if: You like slow burn character development. You like stories where the protagonist has a hard time
Problem Sleuth
What is it: A detective tries to leave his office using user-submitted commands, and gets in a few tangents along the way. Mostly known now as “The thing Andrew Hussie did before Homestuck”, but it was a popular comic in its own right.
The Good: Much better art than most reader-driven comics, bizarre and clever, with a dramatic finish.
The Bad: Holy shit, you thought Homestuck meandered? Problem Sleuth will do nearly anything and everything readers asked him to do, and this is a veeeeeery convoluted comic that has thus aged somewhat poorly.
You should read it if: You thought Homestuck was best before the Trolls got involved.
Questionable Content
What is it: Humanity achieves a technological utopia in the background while hipsters in Massachusetts complain about their dating lives. Later begins focusing much more heavily on all the robots.
The Good: A rotating menagerie of quirky cute girls. Had a major trans character before it was cool.
The Bad: The comic kind of transitions from being about one thing to being about another thing several times, to the point where onetime protagonists show up less and less or even get dropped altogether in favor of the New Thing the comic is.
You should read it if: You want a comfy and diverse slice-of-life comic.

I'M BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK!!! Okay so honestly I have been very very inconsistent over the years with just disappearing for periods of time due to various things 😂 So it probably seemed pretty normal to most people.
But it felt different on my side, so I'm excited to be back in business. I took a month long hiatus! 31 days of not drawing digital art. Its not something I talk about on here? But I've been suffering from some serious long term Art Burnout for.... a really really long time. Long enough that I should've taken a break probably years ago. It finally got so bad that I could barely draw. I was scared to do it (cause it always looked "bad" in my eyes [i'll come back to that]) and doing it was exhausting and disheartening.
I talked it over with somebody and realized that the fear and anger and frustration I felt towards my own artwork was uh. Not Normal or Healthy. And I finally committed to taking a real break for once.
I still drew a little bit by hand? Traditional art has always felt like it has lower stakes for me (i don't often share it online, and sometimes I don't even share it with friends) so I did some of that when I felt like it. But Digital art was completely off the table.
I had put such an immense pressure on myself to make my digital art perfect, to make as much of it as quickly as possible to satisfy something. It wasn't fun anymore. I'm proud of what i've made over the years! But for a long time now the stuff I've been making was made while hating every second of making it. With some rare exceptions.
I hated my art! It was a combination of Perfectionism, taking in too many external expectations, and the burnout. If you hate doing something its kinda hard to love it even when you want too lol. It wasn't "Bad" in the sense that the quality was low and it was ugly! It was "Bad" in the sense that it was unhealthy for me to keep doing it at that point in time.
I'm glad to report though, that with my hiatus officially over as of Wednesday last week: I am once again. In Love. With doing art, and being an artist :)
I put off taking a break for years cause I was scared that taking a break would mean that I would never achieve all the things I wanted to do with art. I was scared it was a stupid and lazy thing to do that would mean I'd never achieve my dreams. And Also even though I kinda hated drawing, I also loved making art. Its a weird duality that I can't even really explain??? I hated it but I also loved it. I wanted it but I also wanted to run from it. It wasn't until I was more mature and had more clarity and insight (and unfortunately also until the problems got worse) that I was finally able to let go of those fears and just do it.
And I'm really really glad I did. It was everything I needed. And I hope to strike a better balance in the future with art. Taking more breaks when I need them, or just when other things have my attention like reading or Video games (Some star rail got played during this time xD)
From the outside things probably aren't going to be that different?? At this point I don't really have any sure plans to post anything I've been drawing since my Hiatus ended. I might or I might not xD I'm still a hobbyist artist taking things at her own pace, but I hope that it shows how much happier I am :)
Whumptober 2023 is being officially put to rest by this post btw! I was in major burnout when that event started, and I'm ready to just, move on from all the past expectations I'd shoved on my shoulders. If I feel like filling any of the prompts or going back to any of the ideas I'd come up for it I will! But I'm not going to worry about doing it unless the desire sets in. Thanks to everybody who's been so kind to me throughout my time on here as an artist! Ya'lls tags and screaming and kind words, the fanfic, the asks and the responses? Its been fantastic :) You guys have made me laugh, smile, and cry tears of joy. I hope from here that things only get better and sweeter! And if I have bad days again, that's okay too.
Here's to 2024 and whatever it may bring ya'll :D 🎉🎉✨✨🧡💜
#isa screams#long post#gif#flashing#i think? Lemme know if I'm incorrect on that one alksdjfLKSJDJDSG#I don't normally talk this much so its kinda strange?#its kinda nice to be more honest about this stuff though#I'm a bit more of a private person so its hard to find the balance between wanting to discuss things openly and honestly#but with the fact that I don't owe the entire world an explanation for everything I do#its a tricky thing#but today I felt like doing this and I think that's okay#if i regret it I just won't do it again alsdjLSDJLFJSGSDG#thanks if you read this! I appreciate it!#I'm a pretty smalltime artist relatively. So sometimes it feels as though it doesn't mater what i say or express.#But hm. I doubt its really that simple or bleak#And if I don't respect myself then well. Who will right?#And I want to learn how to be happy with how little or how much I get#part of the reason I've done so poorly mentally as an artist is chasing numbers and outside praise instead of asking the harder questions#am i happy with what i do? what I make? Who I am#I'm going to probably be working on those questions and problems for the rest of my life.#But thats okay. Thats not a bad thing :)

Gotta scream abt smth that happened this weekend and I do not think the tags will have enough space for this particular rant. I am yelling at myself here please just disregard.
I worked a play this weekend and while driving to the theater with my colleague and one of the actors we passed some kind of sign that had some art on it that I guessed was AI generated. May not have been but it had that look so I just made a passing comment abt it. It sparked a conversation about generative AI with the actor that has left such a bad taste in my mouth since then so we're just getting it out so I can stop stewing on it.
I expressed my dislike for generative AI and how harmful it is and how distasteful I find it and I said the classic, why should I bother to read something you couldn't be bothered to write as a way to summarize my feelings and the actor we were driving seemed to take offense to that.
He started this whole thing about what if he had this dream to make a cartoon or animation or whatever but he can't draw and it's late in his life, he's almost 40, he's not gonna take the 20yrs to learn to draw and animate especially because he can't just put his life on hold for it like he has to work and make money to survive he has no time, why do that when he could just have the ai generate it? So I explained that as a visual artist (drawing/painting) the act of creation is what makes art so wonderful and is the most enjoyable part of the process etc. We went back and forth like this a bit and I'm pretty bad with words when speaking or put on the spot so I wound up saying something that wasn't like 100% the most accurate way to express the sentiment - i said if you're not willing to put in the time and practice and effort necessary to learn a skill like art, you should just give up, why bother pursuing it at all?
Naturally that didn't go down too well, and I get it cause again that's not really the best wording for what I wanted to express. But he and my colleague went into this whole thing about like what an awful thing to say and would I say that to a child, how demoralizing and demotivating and crushing for that child and whatnot and i was like ok let me try that again. The sentiment here is that these things do take work and you've got to be willing to put that work in. If you're not, generative AI is not your only option. Why not make a collaborative project then, find artists and animators and whatnot and work together?
He made examples about music too and how he tried for years to learn guitar and just wasn't any good, couldn't do it etc and why not just use generative AI to create the music he hears in his head. To that I was like well for one we already have digital music programs that are not generative AI so just use those, you'll get a better result. And again, if not, just make it a collaborative effort?? Find some actual musicians and work with them??
At the end of the day the view I hold and tried to express in a few different ways is that art is about creation. And for some people yes the end result is the more important part to them as compared to someone like me, for whom the result is secondary to the joy of the process. But even then, maybe I'm wrong but I'm willing to bet part of what makes that end result so satisfying/important is the fact that they made it, themselves, with their own two hands - there's the pride of that end result being their work, their effort. His heels were pretty firmly dug in the soil of "if I don't have the time/desire/motivation/etc to pursue learning the thing by hand what's wrong with getting it done via generative AI, you're just gatekeeping at that point."
My friend tonight said that at that point you're just looking to make content without putting any real effort/work into it and I think that sums it up pretty well. The thing is while generative AI has other issues that make me dislike it such as environmental factors, etc, I also think it has its role as a tool to add to art - I can compare it to the idea of using practical effects on TV and film that are touched up with minimal CGI as opposed to doing the whole effect with CGI.
Maybe it is kinda gatekeeping art or whatever but like. To go back to a previous statement, not to be too harsh but: if you're not willing to put even a small amount of effort to learn an art, then as far as I'm concerned, you're not actually interested in pursuing the art. You just want to make content, quickly and easily, with no active role in the creation. Even commissioning an artist to work with you to create your vision is more effort than typing a prompt into the mediocrity machine. Commissioned work is more your work than anything you rip out of generative AI. And, as an artist, it just does not seem worth it. What is the point of art - any art - if not to be the one to create it, whether the process or the end result is more important to you?
We cut the convo off because we got a bit heated abt it, and my colleague was getting anxious. The funny thing is I didn't feel like I was arguing so much as passionately debating but there's something about that actor and how he carries himself and whatnot that just made it not sit well with me and now that my weekend is done and I can relax after the chaos it's coming back like fucking acid reflux. Sorry for this ridiculous long post that's just word-vomit on your feed.
#tried to hide this post under a read more but idk if it worked so i apologize if it did not#im not this guys biggest fan for sure like#i was already mildly put off by him for various reasons but even then im quite empathetic to him as well#like the main thing is his complaints about needing makeup for the play (i and my colleague are makeup artists)#and complaints about us fucking with his eyes when all that happened was he flooded his eyes with makeup remover after a show#and the next day his eyes were producing more discharge than usual and were kind of fuzzy as a result#but like im empathetic to that bc if you dont know why your eyes are suddenly goopy and blurry thats scary!! totally understandable that he#was upset and spooked and put off by that. and after the next day when his eyes went back to normal like we said they would he was#apologetic about his attitude and all was well. but like. yeah.#idk now ive kinda lost my train of thought lol#this is why my blog title is dont read my diary lmao this is the most diary entry post of all time

So I’ve had some Thoughts about Coppélia et Swanilda by Hana Chatani
Recently, an old professor of mine introduced me to the Shortbox Comics Fair, a digital comics fair with independent comics from all over the world. I had been complaining to him about wanting to expand out. I took his recommendation and instantly a few things caught my eye, particularly Hana Chatani’s Coppélia et Swanilda.
Some of my most precious childhood memories are of going to the ballet with my grandmother, so I was familiar with Coppélia’s story. It ended up in my cart and I bought it and read it and well, here we are now? As a typical rule in writing these I do try to avoid spoilers as well, I generally want people to read and try things out for themselves. And I doubly recommend that for any independent work. With that, I’m gonna be extra careful about spoilers for Chatani’s work, as I did enjoy it a lot and would recommend people buy it to try it out for themselves. Knowledge of Coppélia I don’t think is necessary to enjoy the story, but Chatani put a lot of nice little touch in for those who know ballet.
I find Chatani’s art to be very cute, and it lends itself really well to the fairytale sort of aesthetic. But it’s not so limited that it cut any expression of emotion away from the characters. Partially with Franz and Swanilda’s dance, you really get a sense of her desperation. Part of this effect comes from the key focus on motions. A lot of the comic is filled with movement, which for a story from a ballet is an enjoyable translation from between the mediums. It has been a while since I’ve seen a production, but I’m curious to see if certain movies from a production were directly referenced. But with that movement it also means when the comic is still, like in the scene with Franz and Coppélia, it creates a sense of unease and tension.
On that line, Chatani doesn’t directly follow Coppélia’s storyline, and I actually really enjoyed the twist it decided to go for. While avoiding spoilers, the comics really builds the bond between Swanilda and her friends. It also takes Coppélius in a different, more sympathetic turn. The story does sort of leave me wanting more, in both a good and bad way. As the story feels like it wants to continue, but is cut off, so it’s a little unsatisfactory in that way. Not that I would have liked the original ending of the ballet, I actually do like this exploration of the story, but doesn’t really end where I am fully satisfied. Now, all stories don’t need a satisfying ending, but I’m not fully convinced that the tone of this story was able to pull that mood off. Given Swanilda’s already wavering at the start and her emotions seem to still be wavering at the end. Yes, she ends with a goodbye and pretty soundly puts here feelings towards Franz away, but it doesn’t totally hit that point of closure for me.
Despite that, I still recommend the story. Personally, I feel a bit like I’m nitpicking a fine story that uses both its writing and art well, and ultimately this is something I’m glad I bought. It’s a nice little twist on a classic story, and it’s well told. It’s 67 pages, and I received both an English version and a Japanese version. It is done in a manga styling with it being in black and white with reading from right to left. Again, I recommend it or just looking around the Shortbox Comics Fair to see is there is something else for the personal taste.

What equipment and programs do you use to make your art? Your about says you're self taught, what helped you learn? And does anything specific give you inspiration for your current style or what you'd like to achieve in the future? I really like your art❤️
ahh!! hey, thank you so much!! <3 that's so kind of you to say!!
easy questions first: for digital art i use a wacom intuos tablet and paint tool sai, which is the only setup i've ever used. i've been trying to get into clip studio paint but something about it just doesn't stick with me. i think i need more practice.
for comic panels and lettering i use adobe indesign, and export as png to before putting them in sai.
everything else under the cut so this post isn't miles long
i've been drawing ever since i was a kid, but until middle school i mostly just drew animals or little notebook paper comics about animals. i grew up on a farm so there were lots around, and drawing from life is something i think really helped. like, there's a difference between knowing what a cat looks like and being able to pick one up and see how its bones and muscles fit together, being able to watch it change how it moves around depending on what it's doing, whether it's catching a mouse or playing with another cat or curled up asleep, and being able to break down that anatomy and movement into simple shapes. i'm a pretty visually oriented person so knowing how a thing functions or fits together as simple shapes helps me visualize it in my head and imagine how it would look in different poses or from different angles.
around middle school i moved onto drawing people, again from life while sitting in a cafe or at a park. actually being able to get what's in my head down onto paper in a way that satisfies me is something that i think just took practice. only recently (like, late last/this year) have i been consistently satisfied with the way i draw things.
sorry if that sounds weird or clinical--this is the first time i've been asked to explain how i learned to draw and this is the best way i can think to say it.
honestly, finding my own style has been looking at what i like about other artists' styles and trying to figure out how they achieved that. i did a lot of redraws of other peoples' art as a kid. for me, trying to replicate something makes me really think about why i like the way it looks. i try to lean towards a semi-realistic style--i don't like drawing super realistic all the time, i love cartoons and think they have a lot of character--but i also don't want to lose the underlying anatomy or structure because it helps my brain make sense of stuff. so i try to find the middle of the road, where things are simplified but still structured, if that makes sense.
brief tangent... that's why i draw pokémon the way i do. they're not on model, they're how i imagine they would look if they were real animals, based on the sort of animals they're... uh, based on. so like for this piece, because camerupt is a cow/camel hybrid, i looked at a bunch of pictures of cows laying on their sides, what their hooves and skulls looked like from certain angles, etc. and then i could draw what i wanted.
as for improvements, i need to get better at backgrounds and realistic coloring/lighting. color theory is one of those things that i understand... well, in theory, but when it comes to practice and paying attention to it when i color, i need work. and because i've mostly drawn animals and people my whole life--organic stuff--i find buildings and backgrounds difficult, so i tend to avoid them. and i need to not do that.
#thank you for the ask!! this one really made me think#let me know if you'd like me to clarify anything... i tend to get longwinded and distract myself with tangents.#so idk how clear this is? i really look like the charlie conspiracy board meme trying to explain anything to anybody#bc like there's CONTEXT alright#like i deleted a tangent about how much i love hiromu arakawa and fullmetal alchemist and it was a huge inspiration and#like damn dude that amount of granular detail was not asked for lmao#autumn.ask#autumn.personal

1. Are you named after anyone?
Not that I know of. Had i been amab, mom would have named me after the man she believed should have been her soulmate (but wasn't my dad). They met in Italy while she was interrailing and her wristwatch died when he introduced himself. (His name was Alex)
2. When was the last time you cried?
Around and after April 19, after hearing the news of Moon Bin's passing.
3. Do you have kids?
No, but I would love to have someday. I'm just not in a situation where it would be wise for me to raise a child, I feel.
4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?
No, that's not really my speed.
5. What is the first thing you notice about a person?
Outfit and overall expression of self. The manner in which they treat me. (I mostly meet customers. You can tell instantly which ones are nice)
6. What’s your eye color?
Green. The type of annoying green that ya authors wax poetic abt lol you know what I mean
7. Scary movie or happy ending?
These two are not mutually exclusive. A satisfying ending is more important, but I would prefer if its also a happy one. I'm trying to watch more scary things.
8. Any special talents?
I can pop most of my joints. I love organising and categorising things for myself and for others. It's pretty difficult to deter me.
9. Where were you born?
Ivalo, northern Finland. I have not lived there since I was a toddler
10. What are your hobbies?
Gardening, bullet journaling, digital drawing. Tabletop rpgs (starfinder and dnd, we used to play pathfinder). Reading and trying to be more active in watching different movies. Id love to say video games but ive only really played The Sims 4 and Acnh lately. Running when the weather allows it.
11. Do you have any pets?
Not anymore, but I used to have an older gentleman miniature poodle who was too tall to actually fit the miniature category. I love him dearly. One day I would like to get another dog, probably another poodle. I love how particular they are about things.
12. What sports do you/have you played?
I used to compete in swimming until I started high school. I've also danced a wide variety of genres from ages 7 to 19, and attended a couple of national competitions for modern dance. I had to quit because my joints got too fucked up and I fell out of friendship with my back then bestie. Now I just run and do home youtube workouts because I don't like going to the gym.
13. How tall are you?
161 cm ish I think? Which is like... 5'3 or sth
14. Favourite subject in school?
I've always loved languages, and had incredibly supportive teachers both in finnish and English as a foreign language. Swedish as well, but I never quite clicked with those teachers on the same level hence why my Swedish is more ..so-so. Art obv. Honestly? Everything else except for maths, physics and chemistry I found enjoyable. Oh and .. social economics? Probably would have liked the subject but I hated the teacher. Aside from those, learning new things has always been a joy.
15. Dream job?
Honestly? Something that won't drain me and actually leaves me with savings and a will to live.
Bonus: any significance to your blog's name: its the finnish version of my main blog's url, koalamb. Literally just a mashup of two fun little guys who are both known to be .. not the smartest cookies out there.
Tagging @varsbaby @moviestarmijoo @zeesqueere @seekingthestars @sapphicshawol @alexanderfuckingwept @phoradendron if you're up for it, but honestly if you see this and want to do it you can say I tagged you xoxo. Feel free to ignore, but I'd love to learn more abt mine moots

Monday, October 21st, 2024.
What do you want for your birthday? It would be nice to go out to eat or maybe see a movie if one interests me, but aside from that (and maybe some snowy weather), I don't really want anything.
What’s your favorite flavor of tea? I prefer black tea with a bit of milk.
What’s your favorite fall drink? Maybe hot chocolate or pumpkin spice coffee.
What’re you going to be for Halloween? I bought some cat ears to wear to the animal shelter, but I have no plans to dress up beyond that. I will be decorating the house and handing out candy, though - for the first time in several years.
Do you think you’ve learned a lot and grown a lot in the past year? Oh yeah. I probably did more "growing up" over the last year than I did during the whole last decade…maybe even the last 15 years. Things just finally started to click.
Are you satisfied with how you’ve spent your year? Yeah, for the most part. I feel like I'm not spending enough time with my cats, but many people work and have to be away from their pets, so maybe that's just part of life.
What’s something you’ve learned lately? That I'm probably more capable than I give myself credit for.
Do you have a lot of friends? No. I have one best friend and that's basically it. I get along well with a few people at the animal shelter, but I would consider them more like acquaintances/fun coworkers than actual friends.
Do you own a yellow scarf? I knitted a yellow scarf for my dad a few years ago, but I don't own one myself.
Do you own brown shoes? My (now retired) hiking shoes are brown.
Do you own anything leopard print? I don't.
Will you buy a cake for your next birthday? Hmm. Probably not.
Are you counting down the days until your birthday right now? No.
Are you excited for something currently? Liv is back at the shelter! She left a while back due to a knee injury and wasn't originally planning on returning, but she started again today. We've got such a good cattery group right now.
If you could change just one thing about your life right now, what would it be? No more migraines. If I could just get rid of them (or drastically reduce them), then I think I could have the life I'm striving for.
What’s your favorite color? Earthy autumn hues, dark/pine green, dark/blood red, black, gold…
Have you ever been to a school dance? Only in middle school. I'm pretty sure I never attended any high school dances. Definitely never prom.
Do you make a list of goals at the beginning of each week? No.
Are you artistic? Somewhat.
When was that last time you drew a picture in a sketchbook? I have no idea. I only create digital art these days.
Is there a tree right outside your bedroom window? No.
Is it windy right now where you are? Yeah.
Is it raining? Not currently, but we did get a good bit of rain over the past few days.
What’s something about you that makes you different from everyone else? I don't know… I feel different/weird, but I can't pinpoint exactly what makes me feel that way. I've felt slightly out of step with society and my peers since I was little, so… (shrug)
Do you dress the same way as your peers? At the moment, my only "peers" are people at the animal shelter. At least when it comes to work garb, we do mostly dress the same.
Do you talk the same way as your peers? I guess so. I just feel like they're more effortlessly social than I am. Has your phone ever done that weird feedback thing where you can hear your voice repeated back to you right after you speak? That's how I feel pretty much any time I try to say more than a single sentence.
Do you have the same life goals as your friends? I'm sure we have some things in common.
Are you having a good day? Yeah!
Is your hair red? It's brown.
Do you like brownies? Yesss. I have some cream cheese brownies in the fridge and they're so rich and delicious.
Have you ever dressed up as a witch on Halloween? When I was a child.
What’s one color that you never wear because it doesn’t look good on you? I think I look okay in most colors. On the flipside, though, I didn't realize how good I looked in pine green until just recently.
Have you ever been to a masquerade? No.
Do you eat vegetables? Yeah.
Do you wear leggings? No.
Is there anybody you think is hot over the age of 40? I can't think of anyone specifically, but as a concept, I wouldn't doubt it.
Who is the most inappropriate person you know? Lmao, Paris. She's an absolute hoot.
What year in your life do you think you were the least attractive? I'm not sure.
Did anything bad happen to you in August? That's when Alex started to become increasingly intolerable, but it was also when I found out she would be leaving soon, so…!
Who in your phone has a heart after their name? No one.
What was the last movie you watched? With who? I went to see Wild Robot with my mom a few weeks ago.
Anything you’re avoiding? Ehhh.
If you could have one thing right now what would it be? Perfect health.
If your parents searched your room, would they be angry at what they’d find? I don't think so.
Do you think anyone has feelings for you? No.
Have you given somebody more second chances than you can count? Yeah.
After breaking up, what’s the worst? Probably the initial grieving period. Restructuring or continuing your life without them. Erasing them instead of trying to preserve their memory (like you might do with a loved one). Stupid dreams.
Do you think your last ex deserves to die? No.
Do any girls like the last guy you kissed? I have no idea.
Are you happier now than you were three months ago? I was pretty happy then (I was excited about increasing my time at the shelter and feeling rather accomplished), but I think I'm more content now. Plus, it's autumn. My favorite season. <3
Honestly, are things going the way you planned? Sort of? At least lately?
Have you done anything sexual today? No.
Is there something you want to say to someone but can’t or won’t? Yeah.
Do you have a second mom? No.
Honestly, do you hate the last boy you were talking to? No.

Here's a new series of colored in digital doodles.
I'm calling them White Sheets (mostly because it's just a white background and nothing more, it's gonna be a series of drawings I'll be drawing and posting, also to organize in the tags and such).
I will also talk about the drawings. It's because a lot of these will be relating to my multifandom story but it could also be random drawings of some random characters I felt like drawing so idk.
I might also post 5 pages at a time (like what I did with my first batch which was just my kin list, that could be the pilot of this series idk).
So here we go.
Toriel comforting Orel because the thought of his mother not giving him motherly love ached my heart so I drew this (this could happen in the multifandom story).
Also Bluey because she's one of my favorites to draw recently. I've realized (while posting this) that I've drawn her and her sister a lot. Mostly her tho. Idk the show made her animation and design satisfying to watch and look at.
I wanted to display the brotherly love that Timmy and Poof had (and I love how the characters hug each other in the show so that's also why I drew this).
And I also wanted to see my recent depiction of Moomintroll. He looks alright I hope. Idk I guess he's one of my favorites to draw as well. I draw him when I can't think of any other characters to draw kinda like Popee.
I couldn't help but draw Murdoc for once. It has been a while since I last doodled him and I wanted to draw him digitally. But I was mostly drawing him because of @imtryingmybestbutimscared . So thanks for the inspiration mate! 👍✨
I've also wanted to see my version of Warren too. Idk if I should like or dislike him. He was.. fine until he got all up on Yellow's business. But he has a worm in his brain (I guess) so who knows with this guy.
Baldi because I originally wanted to draw a different character from what I usually draw, but then after a while from drawing him and listening to fan songs of the game I became a fan of it again so.. yeah I'll probably draw more characters from the game or something idk.
Bingo and Yellow Guy are here too because I've always thought of them as friends in my multifandom story mostly).
Nicky because I like him and I wanted to see my version of him in my recent art style I guess (and I'm pretty sure that drawing Yellow Guy keeps making me want to draw him as well, maybe other puppet characters too but mostly Nicky).
And that's me and Ezekiel. I don't usually do self inserts (especially draw them digitally and post them) but it's also for the multifandom story (yes I even get sucked into it). Me and Ezekiel are best friends in this story btw (yeah I know it's "cringe" to some but don't at me ok?).
Edit: I almost forgot to mention that I'm wearing my comfort hoodie in this.
Sorry if you didn't want to read all of this.
Thank you so much if you did read it! 👍💖✨

| he would make sure that everyone knew who you belonged to |
tattoo artist! sukuna ryomen
rating: t
a/n: this is going to be a three part series. it got too long because i couldn’t shut up. thank you to @teoran for beta reading !!
you should have never informed yuuji that you were thinking about getting a tattoo, because of course his first response would be hey, sukuna owns a shop. why don’t you stop there. as if you didn’t already known that. your other friend, unfortunately had not known how to be subtle about it.
its when you go to hand off your card that they gasp audibly, drawing the attention of both yourself and the woman behind the counter.
“you’re not going to ask for a discount? i mean you know the owner, right?”
she jumps back quick enough to dodge the errant elbow you throw her way.
you knew you would regret telling her.
the woman is undeterred as she take your card, looking bored with the news. “so you know sukuna, huh?” the way she said it implied that it wasn’t the first time it had been made known to her.
you had known the man long enough to know where her thoughts were going with that assumption. sukuna wasn’t only popular for his art. a shudder rolled through your body at the idea of being categorized as one of his flings.
it wasn’t as though you were intentionally shaming the women. but it was sukuna. the same guy who locked you and his younger brother out on the patio whenever he was meant to keep an eye on you. and then blamed you for hiding from him when the responsible adults got home.
in hindsight, maybe you should have chosen another location. but now your card has been charged.
you scribbled your signature on the receipt, “uh yeah, awhile now. im not requesting him or anything.”
“his appointment book is full anyway. he doesn’t take walk ins.” its not said snidely, just matter of fact. as if she was seasoned with dealing with these kind of customers.
the man of topic strides in then, carrying a few bags of take-out that he drops carelessly onto the counter. he doesn’t m look unlike any other day, a loose white sleeveless shirt with a low hanging v-neck that just invited attention to his skin. the swirls of black ink made permanent by his hand only. though that was the advantage of this field and owning your own business on top of it.
sukuna was prepared to ignore the clientele planted at front desk, until he did a double take. those vermilion eyes took you in, morphing from speculation, to shock, a pinch of awe, then back to postulation.
“what are you doing here?”
a small frown mars you face. you didn’t actually consider that perhaps sukuna wouldn’t want you here. it was one thing to know the guy, but whether you wanted to accept it or not, you weren’t just another customer. so you unsurely respond with, “getting a tattoo?”
the snort he gives isn't one of annoyance. in fact its almost comforting to see the minuscule curl of his lips until they start to part, “yeah, missing something aren’t you?”
you realize with a frown that he’s referring to his brother.
“i have other friends.”
that slow smile wides as he gives your friend a brief look of appreciation. suddenly all those years of witnessing him cart his flings around rise to the forefront of your mind. really nothing rarely changed. “ i can see that.”
his gaze cuts back to you, “what are you getting? your boyfriends name?”
you cant tell if he’s teasing, fishing or a combination of them both.
he turns to lean over the counter, arms flexing at the action and pinches the fresh design still hot from the printer. you resist the urge to shuffle in place as he inspects the image with more interest than there were lines. it was hardly all that complex, just as you intended.
sukuna finally voices his opinion, to no surprise of your own. “yeah? kind of small isn’t it?”
“its my first sukuna,” you drawl.
you realize too late that the wording isnt best around him.
“no kidding.”
he tugs a styrofoam box free from the plastic bag before gesturing to you with a tilt of his head.
“alright, lets knock it out.”
you look to the woman expecting her to complain about his pending appointments but she only returns it with a pointed look. when it came down to it, what the boss wanted goes.
right then.
turning, you address your friend who seemed more invested in watching sukuna’s departure. “are you coming?”
her gaze snaps to you and she doesn’t even bother to pretend. she shrugs, “you may not be squeamish about needles but i am.” her hand waves vaguely towards the lounge area near the coffee station and stack of assorted snacks. “i’ll come running if you scream though,” she teases as you turn down the hall.
sukuna’s voice carries from the right in guidance where you find him setting his food off to the side. the room is neat. though you don’t know what you were expecting given the health expectations lining his work. then again, you’d spent the better part of the decade watching him cart week old pizza boxes out of his room so it was hardly a baseless assumption.
aside from the desk of tools and variety of inks the only other defining feature was the wall at the back. there was no rhyme or direction to the madness. the once white wall was littered with varying penmanships and messages. almost like an autograph book. some derogatory, others genuinely thankful for his work - you think you see a few numbers too.
the cushion of the seat protests under his weight as he rolls to the center of the room. he has the stencil of your chosen art held up in expectation.
“where is this pretty little thing going?”
“oh my rib- here on the right.” you think nothing of bringing up the hem of your shirt to expose the skin just under the curve of your breast.
he almost looks impressed, though there is some doubt. he wheels closer and gives no warning as his hand palpates the area. “over the bone? that’s daring for your first tattoo, princess.”
the name was nothing new, an accompaniment to yuuji’s ‘brat’.
part of you actually grateful that its sukuna. the entire shop had good reviews but it was best known for his talent. besides, the charge was already sitting on your card.
“i can handle it.”
he’s still squinting at your side, fingers tickling at your skin.
“yeah?” he answers absently. nimble digits you didn't think had any taste for delicacy carefully peel the plastic from the stencil. he doesn’t second guess himself in the slightest before pressing it to your skin.
when he pulls away, the chair follows him as he collects a hand mirror from his desk to reflect the design back to you.
“double sure?” he’s still rallying your resolve, but there is a hint of warning to his voice as professionalism seeps in.
with a firm nod you seal the deal,” yeah.”
“aright, pin up your shirt out of the way. tuck it into your bra if you want.”
you were expecting this already, given the location you’d decided on. with sukuna that action comes effortlessly without thought. it was no different than the times he’d seen you in your bathing suit, your brain reasoned. at least you still had your pants this time.
sukuna rests back into a lean against his small desk. absently you note that his eyes haven't left you once since you’d entered the room.
“eager little thing aren't you?”
but its sukuna.
you shrug.“ i guess. kind of been saving up for this one.”
the noise he makes is non-committal as he nods to the angled chair.
without your shirt there was no barrier between yourself and the leather. you expected the cold chill but the lack of stickiness kind of surprised you. once again you were reminded of the indisputable list of reviews at your fingertips.
sukuna goes about collecting the materials to disinfect your skin, angling the bottle and cotton over the trash can to catch the excess drops. satisfied with the saturation, he slides back.
you try to absorb the brief shock you feel when he applies the alcohol to your skin. it was hardly a substitute for actual bracing to come but it was good practice. when you look up, you catch his gaze again.
he’d been more observant in these last few minutes than you could ever recall sukuna caring before. maybe it was the job. though the thought of him excelling at customer service has you fighting a snort.
“cold,” you supply and he gives another grunt.
he chucks the cotton ball into the trash with all the efficiency of a man who has made a sport out of it and probably keeps score.
deciding on a solid color eliminated the need for him to break away to change shades, eliminating any surplus time keeping you in this chair.
a gloved hand braces your side, pinching the skin, while the other holding the gun rests against your sternum. when the motor starts you take a careful breath in. sukuna’s eyes raise at the sound.
“not nervous?”
you blink, expecting him to just get to it.
“uh, not really? i’ve never really been afraid of needles.”
he pauses. just when you part your lips to ask what wrong the buzzing starts.
its impossible not to tense at the first bite of the needle. but you fight the urge to jerk. it stings. the vibration of the motor is uncomfortable against your ribcage but it's not unbearable. you certainly wouldn't cry.
sukuna seems to notice it as well.
“not going to lie thought you’d be more of a cry baby? weren't you the one sobbing after you stubbed your toe.”
you latch onto the idle chatter even if it's a jibe.
“i was eleven and i sprained that toe.”
he gives you a quick glance. “sure, princess. completely called for the waterworks.”
you snort. “yeah well it made me stronger. im barely affected today.”
your words are followed by a shift of his hand as it turns to follow a line, the movement pressing firmly against the underside of your breast. you're too attentive to the needle pinching at your skin to take notice.
but sukuna does, eyes narrowing without your awareness.
“yeah, i can see that.”
rather than closing your eyes to block out the pain, you find a more comforting distraction in tracing the lines of his tattoos with your gaze. you can hardly make out the first tattoo he’d gotten at the age of seventeen after forging his parents signature.
the abstract design had now branched out, interlocking with new styles to map out the formation of a sleeve. it was almost like his own branded language. a dialect of bold shapes and bands. you’d never thought to actually ask what his tattoos meant. nor did you expect an honest answer.
sukuna works rather quickly and efficiently while your mind wandered. even if he hadn’t squeezed you in during his lunch break this felt like the usual pace for him. he looked so in the zone as he followed the pre-made lines to perfection.
you weren’t the model customer, still having your brief moments of weakness but he rolled with the interruptions better than you expected. sukuna was brash growing up and didn’t tolerate nonsensical people. you’d had your fair share of opportunities to be chewed out by him.
and earned a reasonable amount of them, though your returning attitude said otherwise.
but this sukuna was softer, if you could put it like that. he knew the right time to give you breaks but didn’t let your nerves settle too much. when he wasn’t adding a layer to permanency to your skin, an errant finger would smooth over the swelling flesh.
more than once you heard him throw out a quiet good girl. that you knew was meant to be encouraging but it came with additional implications that tickled your skin.
he tells you that you should be grateful that the artwork doesn’t need any shading. that it was never a good fit for beginners.
your chest expands the furthest it had in the last half hour when he finally rolls back.
“alright, princess, go ahead and take a look.”
you take the offered mirror again and angle it to take in the fresh piece. the reflection you get back is- amazing. you’d been so concentrated?? on micromanaging the pain that you failed to take in the little details he’d added along with the original design.
as if reading your thoughts, he snorts. “it's not my art if i don't leave my mark. you can tell me it looks good you know.”
if you didn't know any better, you’d say he was authentic in his attempt to bait your approval.
and you had no reason not to provide.
your legs are a little shaky but you manage to balance yourself before brining the eldest itadori into a hug. sukuna goes stiff for a moment before returning the embrace and doesn’t resist when you press your face into his shoulder. there’s an awkward pat before they release each other from the hold.
sukuna .. before he’s shrugging you off.
“god, what a noob. at least let me cover it up. you’re going to irritate the skin.”
when he turns back to rummage through his desk you note the hint of a flush creeping up his nape. you know better than to mention it, instead just smiling at his back.
there is a scowl on his face as he applies the cotton square to your skin and tapes it in place.
“please do not itch this shit. i don’t care if you feel like your skin is going to fall off.”
he presses a small tube of antibiotic into your hand.
“and apply this daily. you don't need it drying out. “
you’re grateful for the little slip of printed instructions that follow. you were able to remember the sensible directions but it couldn't hurt to have additional guidance when you started to question the progress.
“oh and no sex.”
that was definitely not on the list.
sukuna raises a brow in all seriousness. “what? if you get your blood pumping too much.”
you call him on his bullshit,” this small? hardly. “
he raises his hands in mock surrender. “alright, try it yourself if you want. i charge for touch ups though.”
the two of you size each other up. just like old times.
with a sigh you relent, “fine, no sex.”
“good, see me in two weeks.”
his words stop you short. it wasn’t as if you needed anything added and he wasn’t a physician checking on your progress. if anything, you would only revisit your artist if there was a problem.
“what for?”
the dawning grin would follow you for the next fourteen days.
“to make sure you didn’t have sex.”

A/N: Good luck. I'm fucking DEAD. Always a shout out to the greats @xjoonchildx, @ladyartemesia, @ppersonna
Yoongi probably hasn't slept this well in a long time. Probably since he was a kid.
It's difficult for him to rouse from his slumber. It's comforting to feel your limbs contorting around his. He can feel himself drooling on your pillow distantly.
Everything feels like a dream right now.
He can feel your head laying on his arm. His hand is pressed to your stomach still and he feels such peace.
Opening his eyes, he can make out the chandelier on the ceiling. The daylight rays that bleed through the window bounce off of the Swarovski crystals that hang and they sprinkle the walls and ceilings with rainbow lights.
He would have never noticed these things before. Did last night change something in him?
Looking around the room, he jumps at the sight of Maya as she leans against the marble wall.
He sighs loudly, his hand running through his hair as his heart beats rapidly.
"What?!" he mouths to her.
Looking over at you, he brushes some hair off of your sleeping face. The baby must be making you so tired.
You did work hard last night on the delicious dinner you made. That might tire you out too.
Maya raises her eyebrows at the both of you in bed.
You groan at the light that now shines on your face since your hair has been moved.
Throwing your body over Yoongis' with a whine, he shushes you gently on instinct.
"Go back to sleep, little dove. You're alright." he whispers gently.
"It's twelve o'clock." Maya mouths to him, holding up his Rolex watch.
He's late for work.
Looking down at you, he watches how peaceful you are in your sleep.
He doesn't care about work. He's perfectly content where he is.
He flicks his hand, telling the woman who is like his mother to go away.
With a smile, she bows her head. "Sir."
"Yoongi?" your voice is laden with sleep.
He finds himself smirking as you whisper his voice.
"Right here. I didn't leave," he promises as you pick your head up off of his arm.
"I slept like a brick," you mumble.
Chucking to himself, Yoongi can only agree.
"Me too. I'm late for work." he jeers.
You sit up quickly, eyes roaming the room before finding the digital clock by the bed.
"It's twelve! You're so late!" you gasp loudly.
"It's okay, I'm the boss, little dove."
"That's not a good excuse," you jeer, shoving his shoulder with a laugh.
He finds himself chuckling as he lays back down on the pillow. "I can work from home."
You pout at him, combing your hair over your shoulder as you sit up against the headboard.
"I haven't been up to the third floor, yet." you admit, stretching your limbs to a satisfying degree.
"I can show you what's up there. Maybe after we eat some brunch," the father of your child suggests, laying back down on the pillow.
"I'd like that," you reply, warmly.
Last night, you discovered so much about the man lying beside you. You could never imagine how hard his life has been. It's really a shame.
But, there are times you find his sweet side peeking out. And you decide to focus on those instances from now on instead of the others.
He deserves it.
You deserve it.
"Why haven't you made yourself at home?" Yoongi asks, gently.
Looking around the room, you notice the cardboard boxes of paintings and stuffed animals. Small little knick knacks piled up without a place to go.
Humming unsurely, you look around the room. "I just didn't feel like my stuff was good enough to put in here maybe? I didn't really feel the need to do it." you reply with a shrug.
Yoongi scoffs gently as he stands, twisting his back with a groan. The sounds of his bones cracking echo throughout the large room and you smirk as he walks over to the boxes.
You watch his legs contort and flex through his briefs and the image of his pert backside makes an eyebrow raise.
He is really good looking.
Picking up a stuffed red panda, he tilts his head at the cuteness. His eyes look down into the box and he notices just how many stuffed animals you have.
"Jesus, why do you have so many?" he asks with a laugh, continuously picking up some of the toys big and small.
Sitting up to look past him, you giggle.
"Every year during the Fall Festival, I get at least two. Their fun to get! Makes fun memories!" you reply happily as you stand up.
"You can remember every single memory for each stuffed animal?!" he sounds bewildered and it makes you laugh.
"Of course!"
"No fucking way!" he jeers.
Stepping beside him, you watch as he rifles through the box.
Pulling out a panda at the bottom of the box, he hands it to you.
"What memory is that, smarty pants?" he quips, leaning against the glass door to your balcony.
Your lips purse as you stare down at it.
"Well this is Yukhoe, I got him at the fair… seven years ago, I think? I won him for getting the most consecutive balls in the one thousand point hole during skeeball."
"Bullshit!" Yoongi cries with a laugh.
His laugh is so pretty. Even the gummy smile he gives you is heart stuttering.
"I'm serious!" you reply, shoving him gently with your hand.
He snorts loudly, rolling his eyes as he folds his arms.
"You should put them up if you have so many memories," he insists looking around the room.
You hum unsurely, placing the toy down to grab at your stomach.
"Or maybe you can put them in the babies' room? That'd be nice," Yoongi mumbles absentmindedly.
You find yourself smirking even amidst your morning sickness. He's being so kind. It's making butterflies appear when you thought it could never happen.
Finally, he looks back down at you. He notices how you clutch onto your stomach, how you lean against the armchair for support.
"You feel sick?" he takes it upon himself to tie your hair up without argument.
"Just a little," you reply.
Helping you sit down, he crouches beside the chair. He rubs slow, soothing circles to your back as you rest your elbows on your knees.
"It'll go away," you promise.
"I know, little dove. Sesame gremlin is really molding your body to how it sees fit," the CEO whispers.
Your heart feels warm as he speaks such kind words.
"You remembered," you whisper in awe, turning your head to look at him.
He smirks, furrowing his eyebrows. "I remembered? That you called it a sesame gremlin?"
You nod happily as he chuckles.
"That's our baby name for now, why would I forget that?" he asks, confused.
"Just didn't think you cared that much," you reply, the nausea starting to ebb away.
"Oh, I care. It's just hard for me to show it sometimes… Most of the time." he whispers, brushing some stray hairs away from your cheek.
You hum sweetly, a noise that fills the man beside you with glee.
"I feel a little better," you whisper, sitting back up.
"Good. Let's go get you some water and food, hmm?" he asks softly, helping you stand.
Watching you walk away to the bathroom, Yoongi can only describe this past encounter as comfortable. It just seems right. It feels domestic and warm.
It feels so perfectly his.
"Frederic, that was amazing!" you say, setting down your fork.
The chef looks up at you from the pan, a wide smile set on his face.
"Madame. You flatter me. I am just your humble serviteur," the man says, bowing to you.
Yoongi rolls his eyes with a chuckle.
It didn't take long for him to call his office and tell them that he would be working from home. But, it was just long enough for him to begin missing you while you were in the shower.
He's starting to become attached to you. He's only ever felt attached to Maya.
"You have to go work, right?" you ask him as he wipes his mouth with a napkin.
He nods slowly, picking up his coffee while turning to you.
"Yeah, just gotta go over a few documents. You can come up with me though, if you want to. Bring a book or something?" he sounds shy as he asks you.
Not too long ago, that question would have made you feel uncomfortable. But now, you're more than content with agreeing.
"Sure, I'm almost done with a book I took from the library," you reply as he helps you down from the stool.
"What book are you reading?" he finds himself asking, his arm extends, politely telling you to walk first before him.
"Atlas Shrugged," you reply, ascending the stairs.
The prospect of you reading such a large book makes him impressed.
"When did you start reading the book?" he inquires softly, the both of you landing on the second floor.
"Two days ago," you say, walking towards your studio to grab the book.
"You're almost finished with a one thousand page book in two days?!" his voice is filled with awe as you pick up the hardcover book.
Turning to him, you press the book to your chest with a smile. "Well yeah, it's a great book."
His lips purse, seeming impressed. "Well goddamn, you're an enigma aren't you, little dove?"
The third floor is perfectly grandiose. There are small cases filled with what seem to be heirlooms lining the marble walls.
"No one really comes up here." Yoongi explains as you walk through the large hallway.
The two wings at the top seem to be filled with crates and boxes. There are white sheets that cover many pieces of furniture and at night you would hate to be up here. It seems like it would be creepy and daunting.
"Most pieces of furniture and the art and statues in the crates haven't been added down to the museum wings, yet. I just leave them up here." Yoongi says as you wade through them all.
"So interesting," you quip, lifting a white sheet to look at the pretty furniture beneath it.
"Kinda creepy." Yoongi says, folding his arms.
You hate to admit it but you nod along with his words.
"Just a little," you reply with a giggle.
"Come," he whispers softly.
As you continue back to the main hallway, you feel his hand on your lower back once more and it fills you with a sense of calm.
He's getting good at that these days.
"This is my office," he says, opening up the double doors.
Everything in this room is pristine and you can tell that it's never been used before last week.
As you go to step inside, your feet linger as a black door down the hallway catches your attention.
"What's that room?" you ask, curiously.
Your feet taking off without you.
"Oh, little dove! Wait!" Yoongi cries out as you step in front of the door.
It has a fingerprint key to it. Seems secretive.
"This is just a room of my hobbies and stuff," he sounds absolutely embarrassed.
His hand rubs at the back of his neck and you notice how his irises shake with nerves, looking from the room and then back to you.
"Show me," you whisper as he leans against the wall.
He hums unsurely.
You sound so excited about it.
"It's really not for you to see." he replies.
Frowning, you tug on the door handle which gives no reaction.
"Come on. It can't be that bad. Unless, you have dead bodies in here," you joke.
Rolling his eyes, he sighs gently. He doesn't want to see you frown. So, against his better judgement -- he puts his thumb on the fingerprint scanner. The noise echoes throughout the silent floor and he clears his throat awkwardly.
"It's a BDSM room. I've never used it though," he says quickly, opening up the door.
"Whoa," you whisper as the room is opened up to you.
Automatic lights turn on as you step inside.
The walls are all black marble and the large bed that sits at the far end of the room is mocha brown.
You can tell the sheets are satin and luxurious even from far away.
But, the main thing that catches your attention is the multitude of cabinets and drawers that line the walls almost artistically.
Yoongi watches you with nervous eyes. He watches how you run your hand over the wooden fixtures that line the walls.
"What's this?" you find yourself asking.
You point to a large black X figure that is attached to the wall.
The CEO rubs his hands together nervously, pushing himself off of the door frame to walk closer.
"It's an X cross. You hop on these footrests and you get shackled to it," he sounds uncomfortable as he speaks.
"Cool." you reply, setting down the book to hop on.
"Whoa! No! You're pregnant, be careful!" he whines, putting his hands on your rib cage to keep you up against the cross.
"So? Just because I'm pregnant, doesn't mean I'm broken," you quip, putting your hands on his shoulders.
"Little dove," he admonishes softly.
He looks up at you on the cross and the dirtiest things begin to flit through his mind.
Imagining you naked, with your hands and feet shackled to the cross. Seemingly incapacitated as he strokes your pretty pussy.
What would it be like if your belly was bigger? He'd be able to rub--
"Get down," he begs.
Rolling your eyes, you hop off of the cross.
"You're no fun," you quip, walking around him to the wall of riding crops and canes.
"I am fun!" he retorts, folding his arms once more.
"What's this?" you ask softly, your fingers running through the multitude of leather strands that hang from the top.
"It's a flogger," the father of your child mumbles through gritted teeth.
He sighs softly as you pull it off the wall.
Rearing back, you snap the flogger to your hand and your palm sings with the devilish sting.
"Ow," you whisper softly.
Yoongi watches your eyebrows contort in pain and he's quick to rip the toy from your grasp. It tugs at his heart.
"Stop. You're going to hurt yourself," he admonishes, once more.
The way he speaks, even if it's supposed to come out gruff and annoyed, it just sounds caring and worried. Which is why you're perfectly okay with continuing along with your nosy inquiries.
"Do you like to flog people? Or hit them with this?" you ask, taking a large, thick cane off of the wall.
The way he sighs, it makes you smirk.
"Depends on the situation. How bratty the sub is being," he throws the word bratty right at you and it makes you smile.
"So would you be caning me or?" you quip as you turn to him.
His tongue licks at his lips at the prospect of it.
"I would be fucking wrecking you until you're begging," he mumbles, pulling the thick cane out of your hand.
"So let's play," you whine, tugging his hand over to the bed.
His eyes flutter shut and it takes all of his inner strength to pull away from you.
"You're pregnant. Stop it," he chides, hanging the toys back on their appointed shelves.
"No fun," you mumble, sitting down on the bed.
The bed hugs you comfortingly and you hum in appreciation laying back.
Turning to you, the father of your child watches as your shirt rides up. He can see the small little bump beginning to form and he clenches his teeth at the sight.
"I have to work," he reminds you, watching you run your hands over the satin sheets.
"Go ahead. I'll be here, playing with myself. You have vibrators?" you giggle as his eyebrows furrow.
"Come on, little dove," he says, already heading to the doorway.
With a small giggle you stand up, you'll break him. In time.
It's difficult for Yoongi to pay attention to work, once again. His eyes keep drifting to you over his laptop. You finished the book in the first hour that you've been in his office.
Now scrolling through your phone, you pretend not to notice how he stares at you over the lip of his computer.
The light from your phone highlights your swollen breasts and the CEO finds himself shifting in his seat a multitude of times.
Just thinking about you in that room is doing things to him. He constantly tries to swat away the thought of having you in that room. But it's becoming more difficult as the hours go on.
What's so wrong with having sex with pregnant women?
There's really nothing wrong with it per se. But he feels like they should be more paternal, no? You're carrying a child, would you also be indulging in sexual acts?
He doesn't know how to feel anymore. Like he's thought countless times before, you're fucking with his head.
"This says that Doms and Subs have a contract," you speak aloud.
Yoongi huffs out gently, putting his hands over his face.
You're getting too obsessed with this.
"Sometimes," he replies softly.
"Do we need to have a contract?" you ask with a smile.
He snorts gently at how pleased you look.
"No, little dove. We're not having sex, so of course there is no need for a contract." he says through gritted teeth.
You are really something else.
Crossing your legs, you scroll through the website.
He tries to focus on the many words that are staring him in the face but he keeps looking back at you as your eyes continue to light up.
"Oh! Soft limits. Let's start here," you say happily.
Yoongi puts his hands in his hair, tugging softly on the strands.
He feels like he's going crazy.
"Y/N, please," he whispers, almost begging you.
"We promised each other that we would be truthful to one another."
Rolling his eyes, he replies. "Yes, in the sense that if either of us asks a question we would answer it honestly. Not in the sense that if you suddenly find yourself on a BDSM website, you feel compelled to tell me the truth about what soft limits you're setting for yourself in a non-existent dom slash sub relationship."
Scowling playfully, you roll your eyes.
"Well. My soft limits are as follows."
Yoongi sighs loudly, grabbing the glass of whisky off his desk to keep his thoughts at bay.
He feels his lips tugging upward as you look through the website.
So annoyingly cute sometimes.
"Breast bondage is a soft limit. Because they hurt a lot right now," you murmur.
Yoongi takes a deep breath through his nose, his eyes narrowing at you.
You're trying to rile him up. He can feel it.
"Little dove," he warns you as you lean closer to the desk.
"Nipple clamps, not sure if I'd be okay with that right now. Anal play, never done it so I'm not sure if I'd like it. Over the knee spanking, won't be able to do that soon."
Yoongi sips his whisky slowly, letting the warmth of the alcohol curl around his muscles.
"You've never had your ass played with before?" he asks, obviously intrigued.
Got him.
"No. I've only ever been with a few people before and they didn't seem into that sort of stuff," you reply.
He scoffs gently. Your ass is one for the ages, you should have been played with.
"Maybe after you give birth, I'll show you." he suggests above the lip of his glass.
"Sounds like a promise," you quip.
He smirks gently, leaning back into his chair. "Maybe, little dove."
"What are your limits?" you inquire, trying to push him more.
He hums, closing his laptop. Clearly, he won't be working anymore today.
"I usually only write hard limits. No fecal or piss play. No straight jackets. No pony play. Shit like that."
"I have no idea what any of that means besides the shit play," you reply, making him laugh.
"Why are you so obsessed with this all of a sudden?" Yoongi inquires, raising his eyebrow.
"Well it's something you enjoy, so I'm curious about it! You took an interest in my painting. And, I like the idea of getting interested in what you enjoy. You seem very safe and protective of your hobby and that's great!" you say happily, leaning against the desk.
The CEO hums gently at your kind words.
"You're so sweet," he mumbles, resting his chin on his hand.
Fine, he'll play along.
"Is fisting a soft limit or a hard limit?" he inquires.
Locking your phone, you turn your chair more towards him as he throws his feet up on the desk.
"I've never tried it before but it seems painful," you reply honestly to him.
His tongue slowly licks over his lips at the simple thought of you beneath him.
"What about butt plugs? Any preference?"
"Never tried them," you whisper, picking up your glass of water.
His lips sputter as you tilt your head.
This feels so free and so right. It's playful and fun. The sexual tension just adds to how normal this all feels.
"You haven't tried a lot of stuff, have you?" he asks, taking his feet off the table to stand.
"No actually, I haven't. I've always been kind of prude when it came to sex. Me and you in the back room was just a one off really. I don't really do that sort of thing," you explain truthfully.
He hums in agreement, rounding the desk. "So I'm special?"
You certainly think so.
"Maybe," you whisper, your head tilting as he steps behind your chair.
"If I show you my hobby one time, will you leave it alone?" he asks gently, bending down to your ear.
His breath is warm against your now flushing skin.
Since getting pregnant, when you aren't feeling sick or tired, you've found yourself overwhelmingly horny. It's almost a fucking sin.
"I don't think you'll be able to satiate yourself after just one time," you quip, feeling his hands run over your shoulders.
"Oh, little dove. I have the patience and strength to keep myself at bay." he replies, his lips drifting over the shell of your ear.
Yoongi thinks if he can just get this out of his system once then it'll be safer. He's been without sex for a while now and he's perfectly okay with keeping it that way. He'll just take back some wank bank footage and then he won't have to continue thinking about it.
"Will you be gentle with me?" you find yourself asking, your voice sounds small and it makes Yoongi's cock begin to harden beneath his briefs.
"I'll take very good care of you, little dove. I promise." he says, holding out his hand.
You feel excitement starting to creep through you. You've been thinking about this for a while now, if you're being honest. When you had sex with him in that back room, it was the greatest sexual experience you've ever had.
Taking his hand, you find him smiling down at you.
"Come on, little dove. Time is money."
His voice is more playful this time around and it makes you giggle. Winking at you, he tugs you out of the large office.
"We'll go by the color system for today, okay?" the father of your child asks softly, unlocking the secret room with his fingerprint.
"Color system?" you ask, gently.
He hums in agreement, running his hands over your sides as the door shuts behind him.
Bending down, his eyes flicker to your lips.
God, he hasn't kissed you in so long. Is this something else he can indulge in just for today?
Taking shallow breaths, his hand cups your cheek. Your eyes flutter shut at the softness, breath hitching as you wait patiently.
This feels so right.
Without a second thought, he presses his lips to yours.
You've almost forgotten what he tastes like. You've forgotten how excited and on edge you were in that back room.
Groaning against your lips, the tip of his tongue traces the seam for you to part for him.
His hands grip at the globes of your ass. "Jump." he whispers against your lips.
Doing as told, you mewl into the kiss. You wrap your legs around his strong waist, hands carding through his hair.
His tongue is rough over yours, taking the small gasps and moans you give to him freely.
Yoongi walks towards the bed, laying you down gently as he climbs over you.
Pulling away from you, his lips are red and raw. His eyes are hooded with lustful intentions.
You've both been thinking about this for a while now.
"What do you say to me if you want to play?" he asks, sitting up.
Your eyes trail over his body, finally landing on his erection that strains almost painfully through his pants.
Licking your lips, your mind completely goes blank.
"Little dove, you answer me when I'm talking to you. Or have you forgotten?" Yoongi asks, running his hands over your clothed legs.
Your mouth opens to reply but it isn't fast enough for the CEO.
Pinching your inner thigh just hard enough to cause a reaction, he smirks as you squeal softly.
"Answer me, little dove. Or I'll go back to my office and we can forget all of this playful fun," he threatens.
Pouting up at him, he simply chuckles.
"Daddy." you whisper.
"That's it." he replies, bending back down to kiss you.
You can feel your loins beginning to curl and unfurl with hopeful desires.
"Take off your clothes only on the upper half of your body. I wanted you stripped by the time I get back to this bed," Yoongi's voice is dominating as he whispers against your lips.
Reaching up to kiss him once more, you find him already pulling away.
"You're not going to fuck me?" you ask, quickly taking off your clothes to accommodate his words.
"No, little dove. You're pregnant," he reminds you, digging through a drawer for rope.
You roll your eyes at his words. It's always pregnant this or pregnant that.
"It's perfectly safe to have sex while I'm pregnant y'know," you tell him hopefully as you unhook your bra.
"I'm sure it is, little dove." he replies softly.
Once he finds rope that he thinks is suitable, he tugs it in his hands a few times to hear the fabric snapping back onto itself.
The sound sends a shiver down your spine, your heart starts to beat faster with excitement.
"Are you naked for me?" he asks, focusing his eyes on the many toys that hang on the wall.
"Yes," you reply, breathlessly.
He's afraid to turn around. What if he falls deeper into his lustful ways for you if he sees you so bare before him?
He has this unrelenting fascination with you so far. Something that truly makes his palms sweat. You're so good and kind, so beautiful and understanding.
What if he just continues to fall? He doesn't know how he'll be able to cope or cushion himself.
He musters his strength.
Turning around, he takes in your swollen breasts, your veins visible against your skin from how huge they're already becoming. Your nipples are bigger, darker and puffy.
"Oh fuck," he curses under his breath.
Maybe this wasn't such a good idea. He's not going to be able to keep this at a one off at this rate.
"Are they okay?" you ask nervously, looking down at your breasts as he continues to ogle.
"You're gorgeous," he assures you, walking slowly back over to the bed.
With the sweet compliment soothing you, you find it easy to lay back.
Drifting his thumb slowly over his bottom lip, he takes you in.
"Take off your pants," he instructs as he sits on the edge of the bed.
He watches you do as told, his eyes drifting over your breasts to the small bump that's growing slowly but surely.
You're a vision to look at.
Unfortunately for Yoongi, he's already becoming attached to you in everything.
"Give me your panties," he commands.
"I think you have a panty kink," you quip, throwing your underwear on his lap.
Chuckling, he stands up putting your panties into his back pocket.
"Just your panties, little dove. We're going to go over some instructions before we play, okay?" he asks, running his free hand over your bare side.
The warmth of his hand makes your body go rigid. You nod understandingly as he bends down to kiss you.
"When I'm with a new sub or," his thumb grazes over your cheek as he pulls away from you, "a very beautiful mother of my child. There needs to be rules."
"I'm listening," you reply, earnestly.
"We're going to use the color system. Green means it's okay to keep going. Yellow means to proceed with caution. Red means to stop. If you say red at any point, that's it. It's over. We don't have to play anymore. If it gets too much you have to make sure you tell me red, do you understand?" his voice is gentle as he explains.
"Alright, that sounds fair." you say as he lets the rope fall loose from his hand.
"Can I tie you up? Is that okay with you?"
The prospect is too good to deny. You nod with a small smile, sticking out your wrists.
"Repeat your colors for me while I tie you up, little dove." he instructs, pulling your arms over your head.
"Green for okay, yellow for slow and red for stop." you repeat for him, the neediness starting to seep into your voice.
"Good girl," he praises you.
Pulling the rope tighter, he makes sure you have breathing room but not enough for you to get out.
"You're good at tying knots," you compliment, tugging on the restraints.
Yoongi chuckles as he slips down the bed to tie your feet. "Just call me a boy scout."
With a giggle, you wiggle your hips playfully as he travels south.
His eyes narrow up at you, a glint of happiness flitting through them as he smiles. He nips at your outer thigh, earning a gentle groan from your lips.
He doesn't even need to watch how fast his fingers move to tie you up, he could honestly do it with one hand behind his back. Instead, he decides to focus on you. To focus on how you squirm for him and how shallow your breathing is. He watches your chest heave up and down, your nipples turning into stiff peaks at his longing gaze.
He wants to remember this, remember all of this because this is a one off. And, he has to remember it as such.
Hopefully.
"You okay?" he asks, finishing up the knot tying.
"More than okay," you reply.
"We're going to try to train your orgasms, little dove. Make it so that your orgasms belong to me and only to me," his voice is gruff, the prospect of having your orgasms to himself and only himself is sending him into overdrive.
"You can do that?" you find yourself asking.
Situating himself between your stretched legs, he begins to smirk.
"I can, if you want to give your orgasms to me. Do you want that?" he asks, brushing some hair behind your ear.
While he has been caged off, you haven't been. You understand him more than ever and it would be special to have him control something so powerful. He's already given you a child, given you somewhere so grandiose to live. You can give him your carnal pleasure.
So you nod.
"That's my girl," he whispers with a wink.
Bending down, his lips trace over your jaw. He takes in every hitched breath and every signal of rigidity as it sets into your bones.
"Your tits look so good." he compliments, earning a gentle gasp from you.
Your head turns, wanting to give him more access to the column of your neck.
"You're going to need patience, little dove. You need to give yourself over to me completely, do you understand?"
You can feel your arousal beginning to soak the sheets beneath you, your hands strain against the ropes begging to feel his body. "Y-Yes Daddy, I understand," you whisper softly.
"Good. I'm going to let you cum once and you tell me when you're about to cum, do you understand me?" he asks, pulling away from the shell of your ear to lock eyes with you.
You feel yourself falling into his mocha irises, can feel yourself wanting to give him your everything. "Yes."
"Good," he kisses your lips gently.
His lips continue to kiss over your skin, your hips bucking into the air for more.
"Behave or I'll stop," he threatens against the column of your throat.
Your eyes flutter shut, lips pressing into a straight line as he gently suckles on your skin.
He leaves small cherry blossom petals in his wake as he continues to lavish on your skin.
This training is something Yoongi has always been good at. He's always thrived from being in a position of power. But for once, he has an overwhelming urge to please. Something he hasn't felt… well ever.
Moving his hands up your side, you gasp loudly as he gently cups your breasts.
He shivers at how full they feel in his hands, how swollen and sensitive the skin is beneath his palms.
"Oh, Daddy!" you moan as he squeezes softly.
"What's your color, little dove?" he can barely contain himself above you, his cock is so hard and throbbing within the confines of his jeans.
"G-Green, Daddy. Feels so fucking good!" you whine, your head lolling back as he continues to squeeze.
"Fuck, I bet it does," he whispers, kissing over your collarbone.
Pulling away from you, he can see how flushed your skin is. He can see how swollen your clit is already becoming and he knows that he can make you cum easily without even having to touch you.
"You're a little slut, aren't you?"
You whimper at his words. It takes you back to the night you were together.
You enjoyed hearing how dirty he could talk. How perfectly degrading his words can be.
"Your slut, Daddy. I promise," you moan out as his knees knock your legs open wider.
"Yeah, I bet you are. Pregnant with my baby and letting me take your pleasure how I see fit," he mumbles.
Biting your bottom lip, your body shudders as his thumbs swipe over your sensitive nipples.
You gasp loudly, your body undulating beneath him.
"I've-I've wanted you to touch me for so long," you moan, tugging on the restraints.
His lips turn upwards into a smirk at your words. He's been wanting it for a while too.
"Me too," he replies truthfully.
His thumbs and index fingers nibbley roll your nipples.
Trailing his eyes over your body, he can see how much arousal is trailing down your perineum and soaking the bed. His eyes flutter shut at how gorgeous and vulnerable you are beneath him.
He lets his lips trail over the curve of your breast, releasing one to reach for the apex of your thighs.
Your body shudders under his touch, preening for more.
Picking up your spilt arousal on his fingers, he suckles on them. God, he almost forgot what you taste like.
"Jesus Christ." he mumbles.
His tongue peeks out, flicking quickly at your stiff peaked nipple.
Your gasps and moans goad him on, he can barely pay attention as your breath becomes shorter and stunted.
You can feel the band within you tightening.
You would have never thought that you could be on the brink of an orgasm with Yoongi just playing with your breasts.
"D-Daddy, I'm so close." you whine, spreading your legs wider with hopes your center will be touched.
He hums in agreement as he forsakes one breath for the other.
He makes a mental note of how sensitive you are for him.
Suckling your nipple into his mouth, he moans against your skin.
"Daddy, I'm cumming!" you moan loudly, your back bowing off of the bed as white hot pleasure courses through your bones.
He pulls off of you, rolling and pinching your nipples with his fingers until you're orgasming beneath him.
Your ears ring, mouth going dry as you babble his name incessantly.
"Good girl, little dove." he praises and he raises an eyebrow as you squirt onto the sheets below you.
He takes all of this in. Every little reaction you had to his advances, all of your ques to elude to your orgasm. You'd be very easy to train.
He waits patiently for you to come down from your orgasm, stroking your skin lovingly.
"What's your color, beautiful?" he asks softly, palming the erection in his pants.
"G-Green." you whisper, already wanting more.
You don't want this to end, and you don't want this to be a one off.
"Well aren't you just such a good little sub," he jeers, bending down to kiss you.
You could get drunk off of his kisses. They make you feel on top of the world. You want to please him, really and truly please him.
"Can I suck your cock, Daddy?" your voice is so innocent as you ask.
He groans gently, cupping your cheek. "No, little dove. That isn't a part of this." he replies, against your lips.
His hand drifts from your cheek to between your breasts before finally situating over your stomach.
He swallows thickly, feeling how hard your womb is beneath his hand.
"Please? If it's a one off, you should get pleasure, too." you suggest coyly, thrusting your breasts closer to his face.
His gummy smile appears then, almost breaking your fragile heart. "I'm already getting pleasure from seeing you beneath me."
His thumb drifts slowly over the almost invisible bump on your stomach.
You begin to pout, tugging roughly on the restraints that hold you bound.
"Yoongi, please?" you whisper, eyebrows furrowing as you beg.
He sighs gently, his bottom lip purchasing between his teeth as he thinks.
He really shouldn't. This isn't right.
"You're pregnant," his excuse is sounding weaker and weaker every time he says it.
"So? Doesn't mean I can't suck your dick, Daddy. Wouldn't you like to feel my breasts in your hands while I suck you off?"
He groans gently at your questions, you can see his cock throbbing at your words.
"Little dove," he says breathlessly.
"I'll swallow for you, Daddy. Let you cum in my mouth." you whisper, laying back on the bed.
His eyes roll back at the prospect of it all.
"Maybe when my tits get bigger and filled with milk, you can suckle on them."
"Jesus, when the fuck did your mouth get so filthy?" he wants to sound appalled but it comes out amused and turned on, as it should.
"Guess you'll have to clean it out. Let me suck your cock." you reply with a smirk.
"Oh fuck." he grumbles, unbuttoning his pants.
"This is a one off!" he reminds you gruffly, tugging down his pants and brief.
Untying your hands, he sighs gently to himself. He's going to give you whatever the fuck you want from now on, isn't he? What the fuck is wrong with him?
As you wait patiently for him to finish untying you, you stare at his cock as it rests against his stomach.
Even on the first night you were together, it's still a beautiful sight.
"This is supposed to be training." he mutters to himself.
You giggle to yourself as your wrists become free.
With over zealous confidence, you press your hands to his chest. Shoving him down, he laughs loudly.
"Watch yourself, little dove!" he chides, holding your hips steady as you straddle him.
You wrinkle your nose playfully at him and he can only smirk.
Man, you're infectious.
It feels good. Like, tingles inside of oneself and giddiness in spades.
Gripping both hands onto his shirt, you raise your eyebrows.
"This shirt was made in Italy." he warns you.
With a careless shrug you rip it open, hearing the buttons pop and scatter along the marble floor.
He shakes his head with a chuckle as you stare down at his toned body.
God, he's so fucking hot.
Your eyes drift over the planes of his abs and they get softer as you look at the small circular burn marks from cigarettes.
"Wait," he whispers, squeezing his eyes shut.
You keep your eyes on his face as you bend down.
"I don't normally let people touch my-- oh, God," he cries out as your lips drift over his skin.
Your lips feel healing against his skin. His hands grip at your sides rougher as you take your time worshipping his stomach.
His breathing is ragged and his palms are becoming sweaty.
"You're very handsome," you say, kissing over the biggest burn.
His body shivers and undulates under your touch.
He's never felt such odd comfort before.
"O-Okay. Little dove, e-enough," he practically begs.
Maybe he needs training too. Training on how to be loved.
You take pity on him, leaving his burn marks alone for now.
He sighs gratefully, bringing his hand to his face to wipe away tears he didn't know had even arrived.
"You're so sweet, little dove." he mumbles, carding his fingers through your hair.
You smile up at him kindly, the act making his heart beat quicker inside of his chest.
Focusing back on the task at hand, you run your lips over his long length earning a hiss through clenched teeth from the father of your child below you.
"Fuck," he curses, pulling your hair into a makeshift ponytail.
Wrapping your hand around his length, you watch precum begin to pearl incessantly at the seam of his mushroom head.
You look up at him for confirmation and he smirks at your subservience.
"Very good, little dove. You may." he says, gripping your hair tighter with anticipation.
Swirling your tongue around the head, you take immense pleasure in the way he groans. The groan is long and stunted and you know you're pleasing him already.
"That's it, baby."
The pet name slips so freely and he doesn't take it back as you bow your head down farther.
"Fuuuck, keep going." he instructs.
Licking his tongue over his lips, he curses gently beneath his breath as you begin a rhythm.
Stroking whatever doesn't fit in your mouth, you can hear words of praise leaving his lips like a prayer.
Your arousal has started to drip down your thighs at this point and Yoongi stares for the longest time, dying to be inside of you.
"Take it all. Like you did the night we made our baby," he commands.
With a gentle moan, you swallow around him. Gagging and sputtering on his cock, your vision becomes blurry with tears.
"Fuck, you're so good at sucking my cock. Jesus Christ!" he moans loudly, his eyes rolling back as you hollow your cheeks around him.
His free hand comes up to palm your swollen breast, being as gentle as he can in the throes of his pleasure.
"You're all mine, huh? I can just take you up here whenever the fuck I want, can't I?" he asks through gritted teeth.
His mouth is getting looser as his pleasure takes over.
You moan in agreement, getting sloppier on his cock. Precum and spittle stream down your chin as you continue to please him.
"You're such a bad girl, little dove. You're too good at sucking my cock, gonna make me want you over and over again."
That's the plan.
With a gentle whine, you let him into the recesses of your throat. His head falls back to the bed, his hips gyrating and thrusting on their own.
"Little pregnant slut, begging to be full of me when she's got my kid inside her. That what you want? You want to be my pregnant slut?"
You moan loudly against his cock as he begins to precum once more.
Tugging his hand off of your breast, you pull it to your parted thighs.
He curses loudly, feeling how much of your arousal is soaking his fingers. He begins to rub quick circles on your swollen clit, feeling it throb beneath the pads of his fingers.
"You're gonna kill me." he threatens through gritted teeth.
Rocking your hips in time with his fingers, you practically lose yourself when his cock begins to throb for release in your throat.
"Squeeze my thigh when you're about to cum." he warns you and you moan in reply.
Everything about this is so perfect and so yours.
You forget everything going on besides just the two of you in this bed.
It's like it's meant to be.
"Messy little thing," he praises, letting your hair go to wipe your chin.
Sitting up on one elbow, he watches you in your entranced pleasure.
He can feel himself coming to an end but he edges himself, pushing away his orgasm until you do.
With a loud whine, you squeeze his thigh harshly begging to cum for him.
"Uh uh. You wait until Daddy says you can cum."
You mewl sadly around his cock, squeezing your eyes shut.
"Countdown from ten and then cum." he instructs.
Doing as told you count slowly, breathing shallowly through your nose as he continues to fuck up into your mouth.
Reaching ten, you squeeze his thigh again.
"Good girl. Cum."
On his command you cum around his cock. Moaning and undulating as you see stars.
He curses loudly, feeling the vibrations in your throat around his pulsing cock.
"Swallow." he groans out, falling back onto the bed as his thrusts become sloppy.
With a few more thrusts, streams of his cum meet the back of your throat.
You swallow diligently, adoring the taste of him with a whine.
He groans breathlessly, his eyes fluttering shut as he becomes boneless on the bed.
"What the fuck did you do that for?!" he asks, putting his hand over his heart.
Swallowing all of him, you let your mouth hang open. He grips at your chin, pulling your face down to his eye level.
"Good," he replies in a whisper.
He sighs loudly, running his hands through his hair.
What just fucking happened?
How did that just turn into some of the best foreplay he's ever had?!
"That was a one off?" you quip, sitting back against the headboard.
He rolls his eyes, sitting up at the end of the bed.
"That was a one off?" he retorts with a whiny voice, grabbing his briefs.
Your mouth falls open as he stands up off the bed.
"You're mocking me!?" you gasp loudly.
"Shut up." he mumbles with a chuckle, bending down to kiss you softly.
His eyes widen at how normal that is before he's pulling away quickly.
"This was a bad idea!" he says quickly, grabbing his pants.
You watch how nervous he is and it makes you sad. He doesn't even know what normal is.
"Was it a bad idea? Or are you just scared?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.
He picks up his shirt, looking at the broken buttons.
"This shirt was from Italy! I had it hand stitched by a ninety eight year old woman living in Florence!" he yells, shaking the shirt in the air.
"Well buy a new one, you love buying stuff." you suggest.
"She could be dead before I get my next order in!" he replies, shaking his fist quicker.
"Are you ignoring my question because you're embarrassed?" you ask, tilting your head.
He grunts angrily, busying himself with untying the knots.
"Miss Therapist, keep your questions to yourself!" he cries out, giving up on the knot untying.
He paces back and forth, his hands in his hair.
"You could kiss me again, that might be an idea." you suggest.
He grits his teeth, his mind running a mile a minute.
This was just a bad idea all together. He should have NEVER given in! He should have just ignored it like he always does. He's still falling, maybe even faster now.
Fuck!
You can see his eyes flickering back and forth nervously.
"Okay!" you cry out, clapping your hands.
Jumping off of the bed, you step into his path. He stares into your eyes as you look up at him.
Grabbing your wrist, he struggles against you slightly. You tuts your tongue, placing his hand on your stomach.
He looks up at the ceiling, pieces of black hair falling into his eyes.
"It's not wrong that we did what we did. If anything it was nice. Don't let your guilt eat at you," you tell him.
He sighs loudly.
"I just don't… know how to feel. You know how I get by now…" he replies softly.
"I do know. And, that's why I'm telling you it's okay," you promise.
He closes his eyes for a mere second. Looking back down at you, his eyes open.
His gaze fixes to his hand on your stomach. Then to your swollen breasts which are now covered in small marks made by him.
"We're being truthful with one another still?" he asks.
"Always," you reply earnestly.
He takes a moment, pulling you over to the bed.
"This just feels right, it feels too good… I've never felt this or had this before. And, when I thought I was getting it, well… look at that catastrophe." his voice falls flat, looking down at the marble floor.
"You still have to learn what happiness is, Yoongi. You don't have to be afraid to feel something new. And, if you do then you can tell me all about it. I'm just across the hall." you whisper, nudging your shoulder against his.
Warmth is the first thing he feels after he hears your words.
"This wasn't a one off, was it?" he mutters, earning a laugh from you.
"Doesn't have to be." you reply as he puts his shirt on.
"What if I get the urge to kiss you?" he sounds shy as he asks you.
"Then just do it. You have my permission," you say simply.
He smiles to himself gently, his eyes drifting over your naked body.
"Well, that sounds okay then." he says softly.
With a hum, you kiss his cheek.
"What if I want to kiss all the time?" he asks, pulling your clothes away from your hands.
"Well, maybe not all the time," you jeer, laying back on the bed.
"But you said I have to learn happiness, and maybe kissing makes me happy."
You giggle at his sweetness. "I think you're going crazy."
"Me too." he whispers, bowing his head down to kiss you.
As you continue to kiss slowly, your stomach rumbles hungrily.
"Someone's hungry." Yoongi mumbles against your lips.
Smirking against his lips, you feel your clothes return to your lap.
"Can I have my underwear?" you ask, putting your bra on.
"No. They're mine." he replies, helping you put on your pants.
"What, are you making a Y/N pantie collection?" you quip, slipping your arms through the sleeves of your shirt.
Yoongi takes in this moment, feeling how compassionate and fun you are. How absolutely radiating with beauty you are.
"If you're a good girl, maybe." he jeers back, helping you stand up.
Snorting gently, you roll your eyes.
"Can't believed you ripped my fucking shirt, like a pregnant wild animal." he mumbles, motioning his arm for you to walk first.
Laughing together, you open the room door.
Standing before you is Maya, a hand on her hip and an eyebrow quipped up to the sky.
"Jesus!" you both yell at the sight of her.
With a small smirk, she simply shrugs.
"Madam. Sir." she says, happiness enrapturing her voice as she takes off down the hall to his office with a feather duster in hand.
Yoongi snorts loudly, tugging his shirt closed.
If this is what happiness is, he might just be okay with delving into it.
"Let's go get you some food, little dove."

I've been meaning to ask this for a while now: what art program do you use to draw on your tablet? Your art looks so nice and smooth (›´ω`‹ )
<<ok first off i am like "eeee~" at this ask because smooth lineart is something we thought we would never be able to achieve again ever since i started getting tremors.>>
<<it's a combination of program, process, and (screen) protector, actually. the program is Procreate - i believe a lot of digital artists use it. for pretty much all of my brushes, i use the auto stabiliser to some degree. sketching brushes i tend to keep it around 25%, inking brushes will be anywhere between 75%-Max depending on what we're inking. basically, looser things like hair and clothing get less stabilisation, although sometimes i bump up the stabilisation to get more precise curls. like in meulin's hair, iirc.>>
<<the process is that i typically do TWO sketch stages before inking. i do a rough sketch, followed up by a tight sketch. for traditional art, i usually stop at the tight sketch and use that as my lineart. for digital art, i treat it as more of a practise run. i will also absolutely undo and redraw the same line ten times until i'm satisfied with how it's come out. i also typically like to work fairly large and save smaller for posting online - compression hides many sins.>>
<<the other half of the equation - yes, i know i mentioned three parts, but this is the most important part for me - is my matte screen protector. youtube artists will shill Paperlike at you. do not waste the money on it. just go on whatever site you use to buy cheap knockoffs and get a basic matte screen protector. the one i use is by iCarez and was $7 for 2.>>
<<i believe i mentioned tremors earlier? well, between that and our general dyspraxia, we have a difficult time keeping a pen(cil) steady, and the smooth glass screen of the iPad only made things worse. with the screen protector, it has a similar texture to drawing on paper, so we have much more control over the pen now. i should dig out a pre-screen protector sketch to give you an idea of the difference this cheap piece of plastic makes.>>
#<<this is WAY longer than what you asked but we are caffeinated and voidsong likes talking abt our process.>>#<<he's also here i'm just doing the typing.>>#«crow»

#ShowYourProcess
From planning to posting, share your process for making creative content!
To continue supporting content makers, this tag game is meant to show the entire process of making creative content: this can be for any creation.
RULES — When your work is tagged, show the process of its creation from planning to posting, then tag 5 people with a specific link to one of their creative works you’d like to see the process of. Use the tag #showyourprocess so we can find yours!
I was tagged by @milkcrates, who showed her process of making this gorgeous piece with Wei Wuxian and little A-Yuan!! It was awesome to see how it came to life - and thank you for tagging me! ✨
So I got tagged to show how this Yunmeng brothers + golden core art happened! I already included the digital sketch for it in my sketch vs final compilation, but I guess I can show some more!
This is gonna be long because I like talking a lot, so putting the rest under a cut!
1. Planning
SO. A golden core pic was on my to-draw list as soon as I finished watching the show. I had a WIP of a different pic for that waiting, but actually I noticed that a very similar thing has already been drawn, so that was kinda dropped. But I’m glad I waited until the idea for this one slapped me! It was pretty much a moment of “w a i t a second” and I had to grab a random piece of paper to sketch it while I still had it in my head.
This is the sketch - as you can see from the coffee stains, it has been through some stuff. On the left I actually tried out some different ideas for the golden core - the 1st one was the winner and led to the whole leaking/water/rain theme. I ended up mirroring the whole sketch because I didn’t want Wei Wuxian’s hand to cover Jiang Cheng’s front hair wisp, as that would make that area too crowded.
Meta-wise: I wanted to show that the whole thing was kept as a secret from Jiang Cheng. But we also knew about it - so Wei Wuxian is breaking the 4th wall and looking at us [the audience] directly, shushing to keep it a secret as well. Then there’s his hand hovering over the blindfold - it was included in the show, but also sprinkles in that extra symbolism. Then there’s the rain - the sky crying for the two brothers, so you’re not sure if those are raindrops or tears on their faces + lotus pond for the Yunmeng vibes. As for the golden core, I wanted to make it kinda messy and leaking like blood + shining and make it the main light source of the piece. Also kinda like a glow stick liquid.
I also like finding fitting music to go with my art and this one was actually supposed to go with Avicii’s Hey Brother, but when I was looking it up on Spotify I saw Kodaline’s Brother right above, gave it a listen and then the lyrics hit me. So I already knew that they’re gonna go in the caption. Also apparently it’s like The Song for them and yeah, makes sense.
2. Creating
2.1 Set up and tools
I use Paint Tool SAI + Wacom Intuos S to do all my art! The entire pic was made on a 2000 x 3000 px canvas, since I don’t like to work too big because of limited brush sizes in SAI + I don’t want to torture my laptop, as my art takes up quite a lot of processing power with a lot of layers and modes and sometimes things like to crash at the final steps 😬.
2.2 Planning and composition
So I started off by doing a digital sketch and focusing on the composition a bit more - I wanted something geometrical, so I went for the diamond shape with Wei Wuxian’s silhouette and the placement of the lotuses. Also the composition is vertical, all the important info is in the middle column - you could cut off 2/3 of the picture and it would still tell the story.
2.3 Lineart
Then I did the lineart over the sketch layer (there was a more detailed one than the “planning” sketch, but it looks like I deleted it once I finished). I usually draw more than I have to and on separate layers, so that I can move/modify things easily later - for example JC’s headpiece here didn’t really make it that much into the final piece but It Was There. Once I was satisfied with the lineart, I cleaned it by erasing overlapping things, like Wei Wuxian’s clothes behind Jiang Cheng’s head.
2.4 Planning the lighting
After doing the lineart I blocked the characters with a single color and planned the lighting. The golden core is the main light source here, so it dictates which parts are gonna be lighter and which darker (although there is gonna some ambient occlusion from the background + reflected light from the water). I also added water and lotuses in the foreground + painted the background.
2.5 Shading the characters
After that, I started shading the pic. I usually do two steps here - one with “base” shading - focusing on the details and values based on the light source, then the mood shading with more coloring - based on the setting the characters are in. The first one is mostly done with the Multiply tool and base layer blending/painting, the second mostly with layer modes like Overlay and Luminosity. I also colored some parts of the lineart to make the shapes stand out (see: wwx’s front hairs)
2.6 Environment and touch-up details
Then it was time for the water and lotuses + the “special effects” for the rain and all the stuff associated with it - water splashes, mist, sparkling drops! Also some more mood lighting. Lots of new layers to keep everything organized and separated.
2.7 Finished pic
And done! After finishing I usually adjust the contrast/gamma/saturation of my art (or just edit it all in curves) + sometimes sharpen it to bring out details → I make a few different versions and pick the one that works the best. Although with this pic I was satisfied with the raw result so no major changes happened.
3. Posting
For posting I always scale down the pictures and upload them as a draft on this art blog. Then I check if things look okay on mobile as well - from what I’ve noticed my phone makes everything more warm-toned. Depending on the time I finish drawing, I either post it right away or wait until the next day, when there is more traffic on tumblr. I finished this one around 8PM of my local time, which is fine - so I posted it right away (also I was just excited, couldn’t wait 😅)!
As caption I used the lyrics from Brother by Kodaline, as mentioned before!
So yeah, that would be it!
If you made it till this part - thank you and I hope you have an awesome day! ✨
Let’s keep the artist vibes here - I’m gonna tag (not 5 ppl but shh) @still-snowing and this piece that still breaks my heart @driszol and this Song Jiyang pic that lives in my head to this day @kushexi and this pic with fox Wei Wuxian and A-Yuan bc it still makes me melt → no pressure of course! or if you want to do some other piece that’s awesome as well!
#showyourprocess#[and now tags for my own blog →]#not art#art process#oh this was fun - thank you for tagging me!!#always crying abt those self-sacrificial siblings :'')

It has been a while since we last met for GOT7’s feature in 2017.
Right, hi. I’m JAY B. Nice to meet you. Have you eaten?
JAY B has been chosen to be on the cover of THE STAR’s 8th anniversary issue.
Dobby is free now. (Laughs). I’m a freelancer now but I still can’t believe the fact that I was chosen to be on the cover of THE STAR’s anniversary issue. I’m so thankful to THE STAR for choosing me to be on the cover so I worked extra hard during the shoot.
How are you doing these days? We’re curious to know what you have been up to.
A freelancer’s daily life is always similar. I work when there is work and rest when there isn’t. I was busy recently organising this and that to release GOT7’s digital single ENCORE. I took the lead and there were many things I needed to figure out such as paperwork. So I was very proud. The members have all joined agencies but I want to take a little more time and think about it carefully before choosing. I’m still a freelancer.
Does the freelancing life suit you?
I don’t know if it suits me but it’s fun. Now work-related calls come to me directly, so I would be asleep then receive a call. I’d go “Ah I fell asleep for a moment, sorry. What is this about?” (Laughs). Since I do even these kinds of small communications myself, it’s nice and fascinating to realise the value of work and opportunities. If I didn’t have this time and experience, I think I might have not realised the value of work as much. I used to be on edge at times when the managers used to tell me things in the past. But now that I’ve learnt how much processing has been done before the information reached me, I feel sorry. Now I have a heart full of gratitude for opportunities.
I don’t know if it’s because you’re a freelancer now, but you seem much brighter than before.
Dobby is free now. (Laughs) I’m joking. Of course it was very helpful having a company. But now that I do everything myself, I feel more satisfied. I enjoy it.
The GOT7 members have all started solo activities. It must not have been easy for everyone, how did you come to your decision?
Right. It definitely was not easy. The seven of us researched a lot so that we can continue as GOT7 together. But then we thought that we should broaden our view so each of us could end up in a better situation. In the process, what we each wanted changed a little and, there is a future that each person dreams of right? The company said we did everything we could do on our part and that they will cheer us on in the future, that made me feel proud. We are also very thankful to the company. I felt that we received a lot of protection under a large umbrella. After all, the company is like the mother that gave birth to GOT7, so I’m thankful to them and respect them. I also thought a lot and looked into a lot of things about how to continue as GOT7. I also went to the president and asked him for advice, and I greeted and thanked Jinyoungie hyung for everything.
While preparing for new activities, what was the thing most discussed amongst the members?
“So what is it that you want to do?” “So what do you want to do?” We asked that a lot. So everyone said “We have to do it" So I asked again “No, not 'I have to', but do you want to do this? Or do you not want to do this?” If you are going to do something, you should do it properly, right? If you are not going to do something with an active attitude, I think it’s better to not do it. So we all came together and decided to give it a try.
It’s clear that you are GOT7’s leader.
One advice the company president told me was that my talent and effort as a leader starts now. Personally handling matters related to our recent digital single, I felt this “Taking the lead as a leader, I need to really work hard.” There was a lot of pressure, but if I don’t do it, who would. It pushed me to work hard.
You mentioned very clearly in your social media livestream that “GOT7 did not disband.” I felt your affection towards the team, what does GOT7 mean to JAY B?
One extremely important thing in my life. Actually, it’s an indispensable part. I’m thankful for the fact that our team exists. You have to know that because GOT7 existed, we individually exist too. It wouldn't matter if my beginning was as a solo, but my beginning was as GOT7. That's what made me who I am now.
How is Lim Jaebeom different as JAY B within GOT7, JJ Project, Jus2 and ØFFSHORE?
Comprehensively they’re all sides of me but if I have to split them, they would be a novel vibe versus an essay vibe. ØFFSHORE and Def. are all about music I like, regardless of genres, and honest stories I want to tell. As for GOT7, JJ Project and Jus2, we would have a particular concept and make it a bit more fancy.
Most of the songs you have shown on SoundCloud are R&B genres with a groovy feel. Have you ever had a conflict between music you want to do and music you have to do?
I felt that I needed to work harder to prove [myself] to do what I wanted to do. I can’t always be spoon-fed. To prove [myself] I made more GOT7 tracks and sent around 15~20 demos. Later on Jinyoung hyung and the president acknowledged me and said “Jaebeom will take care of the musical aspect. You can trust him with that.” I felt really proud hearing that. I don’t really feel a sense of conflict between the musical differences. From pop and R&B to folk and modern rock, I don't want to draw lines between genres and make music that sounds good.
We are curious about the music JAY B will show alone and what you’ll pursue. What stories do you want to tell?
I want to do a variety of things. Alone, I think I will try mixing genres and do things that are fun and experimental. I can also do R&B pop or Urban genres which I’ve originally liked. But that might change later on.
Is there an artist you’d like to collaborate with in the future?
Someone with a pleasant tone to listen to. Even now, when I listen to music and I like the artist’s tone, I send them a DM asking if they’d like to collaborate. And Korea's top hip hop artist, IU-nim. Do you think it's possible? (Laughs).
Then would you like to send a message to IU?
Suddenly? Um… I will work very hard. If by chance you think my song is alright, I would love for you to add your nice voice to them. (Laughs)
An appearance that may seem cold with a tsundere charm. But what do you think your real personality is like?
I’m the type that is quiet and calm, but people close to me tell me I’m a weird person. When I cry reading a book or watching a movie, or when I get emotional they say “It’s so weird, it doesn’t suit you.”
Are you the tender type?
I think I just often get hit by waves of emotions.
We’re curious about the lifestyle you seek and your values.
To live each day without any regrets.
Is there a place you’d like to visit after COVID-19 ends?
Kyoto, Japan. It’s a place where there is a lot of Japanese heritage and it’s also pretty.
Recently you have combined your two Instagram accounts @jaybnow.hr and @def.cnvs, what was the reason?
I’m the one doing everything after all, it is just the musical name that was different. I can’t split my body into two. I realised I could combine them into one account and just show the difference within it. And as I get older, it’s hard to manage two accounts. (Laughs). Was I too honest? Now I'm confused about what's what.
Was there any other moment that made you feel old?
I don’t do much and my whole body aches. In the past, my body wouldn’t get affected by the weather. Now when the weather is gloomy my back hurts and my knees go numb. (Laughs).
I can see that you’re interested in artistic aspects such as photography, painting and fashion etc. Do these things influence your music?
Of course. They affect the way you live in itself. I’m a person who wants to express and leave behind what I feel. Calling myself an artist feels somehow cocky.
What are you interested in recently?
It’s not art but I’m interested in moving around. Living as a freelancer, I spent more time lying down at home, but now I need a fast-paced daily life. I try to wake up in the morning to eat breakfast and nutritional supplements then go outside to photosynthesize and soak in the world. Everyone has to keep moving. (Laughs).
Are you interested in fashion and lifestyle curation and design etc?
I don’t think I’m a person who dresses up exceptionally well, but if someone asks I’d be willing to help.
What would you introduce as JAY B’s preference?
Freedom. Regarding fashion too, I liked vintage and grunge styles but recently I’m interested in work look and amecage styles. My preference keeps changing. I can't define myself clearly either, but I like the sense of being free.
What inspires you?
Many situations and people, my experiences as well as indirect experiences.
How do you have an indirect experience?
Watching movies and reading books. Nowadays I read song lyrics and unfold the scenes in my head. I try to think of various points of view in these one-act plays.
To JAY B, love is?
Nonexistent. A moment. I don’t know. As you live life, I think falling in love is a momentary emotion. If it lasts long, I think it’s affection not love. I'm a person who has to talk about love, but sometimes I wonder if it’s okay to feel this way. There are also many different forms of love. The love that my parents give me and the love that my fans send me. I’m thankful for everything.
While promoting for 10 years, what was the happiest moment and most lacking point?
I feel like every moment until now has been somehow lacking. Whenever you look back you end up thinking “I should’ve done better back then.” I think everyone feels that way. But I never regret those times I’ve spent. The happiest instance was when I spotted my parents at a fanmeeting and ran to them and held them while singing. It felt like I was boasting to my fans “These people are my father and mother,” and it also felt like I was showing my parents how I was receiving that many fans’ love and support. I'm thankful that the fans looked at my family happily at that moment.
Have you ever had a slump?
I don't think about something if I think I'm going to fall into something serious, but I'm the type who gets stressed out to do something new.
You are loved not only in Korea but also abroad, have you ever thought about why your fans like you so much?
A lot. I just don't understand. I'm not even popular among my friends... Why on earth?
Think of at least one thing.
Maybe it’s because I worked hard steadily? To be honest, during the past 10 years I have never not tried my best on stage. I can say this with confidence. I’m thankful to be able to do what I like as a job. I have told the members about this previously, I’m sorry for not being affectionate to fans onstage. It’s my nature so I can’t help it. But I have never been indifferent as a singer onstage, that is a fact.
Your bucket list that you surely want to achieve this year?
Being healthy mentally and physically. Since the members have started their solo activities this year, I think I should release an album as well.
Any words for the readers?
Everyone, I’m not saying this as a formal greeting but I really want to say thank you. Hmm… How should I put this? Don’t worry since we are not disbanding. That’s why I tried hard to release the digital single. Continuing on I’m going to try my best to do as much as I can. You might feel disappointed at times along the way, and I apologize in advance for that. But what I can promise is that I’m going to do my best. Thank you so much for supporting me for 10 years. You all know this already, but I’m not so good at things like sending hearts and saying thanks affectionately. I just want to speak sincerely. Thank you so much. I hope everyone will be more happy, not just because you like and support us… I could sound arrogant saying it like this but... I hope our fans are sturdy people who will find their own small sources of happiness in their daily lives even if that isn’t us. And I hope everyone is happy. I’m so thankful and I want to ask you to trust me.
Lastly let us know your future plans.
We will try our best to match our times and do GOT7, JJ Project and Jus2 etc. no matter what. Even if our times don’t match somehow, we’ll try our best to gather even 4 or 5 people and return, so don’t worry. And Dobby is free now. (Laughs). I will do my best in everything. I've made a lot of songs and I'm diligently working on songs right now too, so look forward to it. You’ll be able to listen to it soon. Thank you. This has been GOT7 JAY B. Please give lots of love to The Star’s April issue!

The Demon Brothers: Creative Outlets Headcanons
they are all immortals and when you've lived longer than you can remember, you're bound to find a creative outlet to destress, alleviate boredom, or you know, to just have fun!
Lucifer
He’s a busy demon. If he’s not working, he's sleeping, or cleaning up one of his brother’s messes, so he doesn't have that much time to just relax and explore his creative sides.
That said though, it doesn’t mean he has no hobbies at all.
He plays the piano. He used to play it every morning, back when he’s still in the Celestial Realm, when he’d taught Lilith how to play the piano every morning and she’d sat besides him as his fingers moved across the keys slower so she could copy him.
Nowadays, playing the piano feels very nostalgic and bittersweet, but you’ll hear soft, bittersweet melodies drift from the music room once in a while.
He also composes his own music, but that's an even rarer occurrence. The last time he created a new music piece was centuries ago.
(Ever since MC came to Devildom though, he's been itching to write music for them.)
Practices calligraphy for fun. He has a whole set of brushes and ink and lettering pens. His handwriting is already beautiful but his calligraphy is even more amazing.
Another thing he does is gardening. He's got a great eye for landscape architecture, he's the reason why the house's backyard is pretty.
He plants decorative plants and likes to cross breed flowers so the House of Lamentation's backyard is full of pretty shrubs and unfamiliar flowers.
He is usually joined by Beel as he is the other brother that finds gardening very relaxing.
Mammon
He definitely shows his creativity by coming up with the most absurdly brilliant, out-of-the-box, original schemes to make money.
Mammon can draw, like really good. His drawings are very realistic. He prefers to use traditional media: charcoal pencils, graphite sticks, blenders, erasers, drawing pens, brushes, and maybe some watercolors.
He usually does architecture sketches.
But if you check his drawers, you’ll find several sketchbooks of his brothers in different candid poses. MC alone has taken up three whole sketchbooks. Mammon makes sure MC doesn’t see those sketches though.
Crashes Asmo’s Art Day regularly, claiming that if Levi’s invited then the Great Mammon should be too. Asmo and Levi always complains but they let him stay anyway.
Mammon also has a natural talent on jewelry making and metalwork. He makes jewelry from buttons, beads, pearls, diamonds, and crystals. From small pendants to elaborate neckpieces, simple anklets to ornate hairpins.
Mammon has made metal bookmarks for Satan because the book lover always misplaces his bookmarks or destroys them in fits of rage when he doesn't like a book's ending.
He sculpts wood. It takes him months to finish one small piece because he only does it when he's really, really bored, he prefers to make his much more profitable jewelry.
He keeps all of his sculptures in his room, small and detailed pieces of wood engraving of Devildom native animals lining up on one of the shelves.
Leviathan
This is canon but he draws! He doesn't think he's very good at it, but he really enjoys it.
Unlike Mammon who likes to draw with his charcoal pencils and drawing pens, Levi prefers to draw digitally. He still switch to traditional media now and then though.
Has a monthly scheduled “Art Day” where he and Asmo hang out together, Levi draws with his sketchbook or his drawing tablet and Asmo paints. They basically just gossip and hype each other’s art.
Dabbles in making short animations but feels like it’s just not something for him. He makes short comics though.
He wants to be able to make his own video game someday though. Maybe after he learns programming.
He makes the most detailed cosplay outfits for his own cosplays. He sews really good and patches his brothers clothes when they ask. Where do you think Asmo learns how to sew his own clothes from?
Really good at dancing and he really likes it too. He's a natural at it. From the most intricate traditional Devildom dances to freestyle dancing. He can make new moves on the spot and can copy any moves from one look.
He’s a shy baby though, you’ll rarely see him dance when he’s sober.
Except when he’s playing DDR (Demons Dance Revolution). Then, it’s like he’s the most confident demon in Devildom.
Satan
Satan writes poetry when inspiration strikes him. He has also written short stories but he always comes back to creating beautiful poems. He’s got a way with words.
Photography is something he has only recently taken interest in but he has a great eye for taking breathtaking shots.
Has become the family’s go-to photographer.
“Satan, take a picture of me and Mammon!” “Satan, take our picture, quick!” “Satan, help me get a picture for my Devilgram!”
He’s the reason Asmo’s Devilgram pictures always look like they’re taken professionally in a photo studio or something.
Satan loves art, likes to stroll through museums and stare at paintings for hours, but has little talent in creating them. Even so, he still likes to paint even if he's not good at it.
Sometimes he just wants to slap paint on a canvas and make a colorful mess. It's fun.
He joins Art Day every other month.
Another thing he does is knitting! It relaxes him. It gives him something to focus at when he's angry (um, angrier than usual), just to give his hands something to do that doesn't involve breaking anything. The simple patterns he makes are easy enough that they don't frustrate him.
Rarely ever finishes his knitting though, you'll just find this 5 meters long knitted fabric in one corner of his room with the ends coming undone because he calms himself down enough to stop knitting.
Asmodeus
Regularly designs, cut, and sew his own clothes.
Has a lot of sketchbooks full of drawings of flowy dresses and stylish coats and many aesthetically pleasing shirts.
He has started his own clothing line and sometimes collaborate with Majolish.
But for the most part, he designs clothes for himself and himself only, he doesn't want anyone else to wear clothes as fabolous as his.
Nail art? Nail art.
Asmo paints all of the brothers nails and sometimes he'll persuade one of them to let him do a complete manicure, with glitter polish and shiny studs and all.
Yes, even Lucifer. You just never see the results because Lucifer wears his gloves almost all the time.
Asmo creates beautiful makeup art. He doesn't really like a lot of makeup on his own face though, so his brothers' faces are his canvases.
He also has a great eye for interior decorating and flower arranging. He restyles his room every month.
Not many people know it but he paints. And he's very good at it. He has done a painting of each brother, the paintings can be seen on the walls of the House of Lamentation's hallways.
Art Day with Levi (and sometimes Satan or Belphie) is spent with him in front of canvases, chatting with his brothers, paint splatters on his hands. It's the only day that he doesn't mind looking a little messy.
Beelzebub
He cooks, of course! And bakes too!
It's one of the times he’s willing to wait to eat because cooking the ingredients first rather than just straight up eating them will make the foods taste better.
Half of the food in the kitchen are his creations. Anything he can make on his own from scratch, he will; jams, ice cream, sauces, juices, bread, chips, etc.
Likes to experiment and always do something different than the original recipes.
He garnishes his cooking like it’s something you order from a five star restaurant.
Beel is another demon who has a green thumb. He likes taking care of plants and doesn't mind getting a bit dirty doing it so gardening is another hobby of his.
If Lucifer plants ornamental plants, Beel grows useful plants like herbs and vegetables and small fruits. He's also good at topiary.
Always has an idea for a DIY project.
His creations is scattered all over the House of Lamentation. Belphie's drawer divider is made out of yogurt cups. Broken drawer knobs recycled into Asmo's jewelry organizer. The coat rack. The bathroom towel holder.
Even Lucifer's hanging Demonus rack is handmade by Beel when he's bored one weekend, with Mammon's help for the engraving decorations along the sides of the rack. Beel's got a bit of Bob the Builder in him.
He is very good at singing. His voice is clear and he has a broad vocal range. Has been caught unconsciously humming in class many times.
Has definitely sang Belphie to sleep.
Belphegor
Does his pranks counts as a creative outlet though?😂 Between him and Satan, Belphie's ideas are the most creative and out of the box, resulting on some of the best pranks they did.
Belphie does origami. It's relaxing, easy enough to learn, and doesn't take much effort and energy to do it.
Has stacks of origami papers in his room: standard origami paper, foil paper, traditional Washi ones, the leather-like Momigami paper, all kinds of paper.
He especially loves to make little origami stars and keeps them in glass jars in his room.
Belphie also has adult coloring books.
And kids coloring books.
Coloring is relaxing to him. It's very calming to just lay down and fills a page with pretty colors for a while. It's not a tiring way to destress, he can color without moving from his bed, and it feels satisfying when he finishes a whole page.
He sometimes joins Art Day if he's not too lazy to move. Still prefers to color alone where it's quiet though.
He also journals. It's another thing he can do that is inexpensive and not energy consuming. He writes about anything that comes to his mind, his thoughts, his ideas, memories.
Definitely keeps a dream journal.
Also I headcanon that as the Avatar of Sloth, sleep and dreams are some of the things he can manipulate. He enjoys creating dreams; the worldbuilding, the story, the details. He can be really creative when it comes to making them, spinning the most vivid and imaginative dreams.
They’re not necessarily good dreams though. After all, he is still a demon, his dreams will most likely mess up your mind than make you smile in your sleep.

mp100 | serirei, reigen arataka, serizawa katsuya, kageyama ‘mob’ shigeo, AU, 6k | on ao3
It doesn’t really matter, he reminds himself. He’s making a change, just like all of Reigen’s clients. What’s on his hands isn’t set in stone. He just has to make sure Reigen doesn’t see it— even if it might feel nice to have that steady attention, Reigen’s hands that are so much nicer than Serizawa’s folding around his.
(or: Reigen starts offering palm readings as a service, leading to Serizawa having to confront his feelings for his boss.)
this is pretty fluffy, only real tw is some self deprecating depression thoughts from seri.
-
One day, when he comes into work, Serizawa sees Reigen industriously spreading a new poster on the wall, next to the monthly specials.
“Oi, Serizawa,” Reigen says, head half turning, first in acknowledgment, then in focused interest. “Come help me finish putting up this poster— I can’t get the last corner. Or well, I could,” he allows, stepping away from the wall as Serizawa approaches, “but I don’t want to get the step ladder out of the storage closet, it’s always such a damn pain to dig it out. You had really good timing, you know…”
Serizawa comes in at the same time every day, so he hardly thinks it counts as good timing, but he doesn’t say anything. Reigen passes over a thumbtack that he’s been holding between his teeth— a terrible habit, one that always makes Serizawa’s stomach start doing awful twists when he sees him doing it— and Serizawa takes it, stepping to the wall.
The poster’s half up already, it’s really just this one corner that’s a bit awkward to get to behind one of Reigen’s potted plants. He smooths the corner out, hesitant, and carefully pushes the tack in.
“A little up,” Reigen directs from behind him, and even though Serizawa can’t see him he can feel the way Reigen’s head tilts to look under Serizawa’s stretched arm. “It needs to be straightened out— ah, the other side’s falling out, can you get that too? Serizawa! The bookshelf, watch it.”
After a few more tweaks, Serizawa finally manages to pin it to the wall in a way that satisfies Reigen. Serizawa runs two fingers over the slightly wrinkled corner— he can’t remember if it was already slightly bent, and he swallows nervously. But if Reigen notices, he doesn’t say anything, humming appreciatively. “Right. This’ll be good, people will walk in and see it with the monthly specials.” He stops, hands drumming on his hips. “Unless it should go on the far wall, while they’re sitting during the consultation? It works well as an add on, so maybe if they see it there it’ll drive more sales…”
Serizawa’s slowly processing the actual contents of the poster as Reigen hems and haws to himself. The center of the poster’s occupied with a giant stock photo hand, with arrows helpfully pointing to different creases and hills in the flat palm. A nauseating array of colors pinwheel around it, making it difficult to look away from once your gaze has drifted to it. PALM READINGS, the banner across the top screams out. LEARN ABOUT YOUR LIFE, LOVE, AND FORTUNE. Then, explosions of price points decorate the bottom.
Belatedly, he realizes he saw Reigen working on the poster yesterday during a slow hour in the office— slowly dragging together clip art in a way that he found appealing. Serizawa had avoided asking questions, since Reigen would then want his opinion on the poster, and Serizawa didn’t have the slightest clue about anything to do with design. Now, he could actually understand the poster for what it was.
“No, better to leave it here,” Reigen decides, bringing Serizawa out of his reverie. “Now, I’ve just got to add it to the website.” He sighs, scratching his cheek. “Damn builder’s always so tedious to fiddle with.”
“I didn’t know you could read palms, Reigen-san,” Serizawa says, still staring at the poster.
“Hm? Oh, yeah, I read a couple articles about it over the weekend,” Reigen says, starting back to his desk. Then he half turns back, adding, “when you get to my level, it’s easy to pick up this kind of stuff, you know— it’s good to buff out your skills, too. Sort of…” He spins a hand in the air as he thinks. “Expanding your resume.”
Serizawa nods. This makes sense to him. To Serizawa, Reigen’s never had much of a recognizable aura— or really, he thinks privately, any recognizable ability at all. But he has a very long list of clients, successful exorcisms, and the attention of the most powerful psychic that Serizawa knows, besides maybe the president. Not to mention the entirety of CLAW’s former 7th Division’s admiration and respect. All of those people can’t be wrong, Serizawa reasons, so it must just be something that he’s missing. Serizawa misses a lot of things. And as Reigen’s repeatedly told him, his powers are just more spiritual, so him picking up a new ability with some light reading seems perfectly reasonable. “One of my classmates talk about learning coding a lot, since that’s good to have on a resume,” he says. “So it’s kind of like that, maybe.”
“Well,” Reigen pulls a face as he drops into his desk chair. “That’s a different kind of resume.” He swivels to his computer. “While I’m updating the website, Serizawa, can you look at the client list for the day?”
Serizawa hastens to look at the digital calendar that Reigen’s set up on his phone. “There’s a consultation in the morning, at ten,” he says. “Two massages in the afternoon… An exorcism at four.” Serizawa will be gone by then. Kageyama will be assisting with that exorcism— Reigen’s marked that on the calendar too, although Serizawa’s not sure Mob’s once looked at the calendar Reigen constantly refers to.
Reigen’s practically rattling the keyboard with the force of his typing. “Plenty of down time today, then,” he said. “I’ll be able to get this set up no problem.”
“Reigen-san,” Serizawa begins, awkward. “Should I…” Reigen’s stopped his punitive typing to stare at him, which always makes Serizawa’s words begin to stutter. He clears his throat and tries again. “To better assist the clients. Should I learn about palmistry, too?”
He doesn’t know why he asks. Most of the questions he asks feel pointless as soon as he says them, and this one’s ridiculousness is heightened by the way Reigen frowns. “If you want to,” he says, tone implying he’s not sure why Serizawa would. “I was planning on handling it, since it’s mostly interfacing with the clients, and you’re still getting comfortable there, but I wouldn’t stop you.”
Serizawa can’t stop the way his shoulders sink, and hurriedly, Reigen adds, “you’re doing fine, Serizawa— I’m glad you’ve got the initiative to ask about it. But I know you’re busy with your studies, so I didn’t want to take up your time unnecessarily. You’re already a great asset to the business.”
Again, Serizawa wants to protest, to say that really he should be doing so much more for Reigen than brewing tea and exorcising stray ghosts. But he shouldn’t argue with his boss, so he just nods, swallowing all of his words.
It only takes a few days for someone to take Reigen up on new special— a jittery looking college student with spectacles twice the size of her eyes. She comes about a necklace that she inherited from her recently deceased grandmother. Serizawa can’t see anything on it, and Reigen smoothly steps in to handle it. As he shreds rock salt over it and kept up a stream of gentle questions about her grandmother, the girl’s eyes roams over the wall, and she asks about the palm reading. Within seconds, Reigen has the lights dimmed, incense candles in Serizawa’s hands that are apparently his responsibility to light.
Reigen sits on the edge of his seat, face serious as he looks down into her upturned palm. She watches him with wide eyes. “It’s not so much that your palms determine your fate,” he explains to her, voice taking on a knowing, mystic quality. “It’s more that they’re a microcosm of reality… The big’s encapsulated in the small.” He draws one of his fingers along a crease in her fingers, barely a ghosting pressure.
As Serizawa struggles with the candles, the match in his hand finally catches, and the light blooms across her face. The beginning of a blush is striping across her nose.
“This is your head line,” Reigen says. Then his finger moves across another web. “Your heart line. Your fate line. And your life line.” For this last designation, his finger curves across the base of her thumb and comes to rest against her wrist.
“The life line,” she says, eyes wide. “I heard once that if you have a short life line, that means that you’ll die young.”
Discreetly, Serizawa peeks at his own palm, but he can’t track what any of the mess of creases are supposed to be when transposed onto his own hand. “Not necessarily,” Reigen says, shaking his head. “Your life line has more to do with your vitality. If it’s short or shallow, that’s not necessarily bad, but it might mean you need to make a change.” Reigen’s mouth draws into a frown. “…Have you been feeling disconnected from the people around you?”
“That’s exactly it,” she says, voice a relieved rush. “It’s been so hard, ever my grandmother died…”
The conversation streams on past Serizawa. He watches as Reigen gives her advice, her hand still resting comfortably between Reigen’s long fingers.
The palm readings only happen occasionally, but Reigen seems satisfied enough with their performance— like he said, it’s a nice add on. But on days when someone asks for one, they cling to Serizawa’s mind the entire train ride to his night classes.
Regardless of Serizawa’s perception of Reigen’s aura, he proves himself as a natural when he sits down with a client for a palm reading. No matter what he says, they always gasp in shock at how accurately Reigen’s pinned down their life with just a few sentences. Then, he’s immediately pinwheeling into advice on how best to fix their relationships, their jobs, their life.
He doesn’t like it. The idea that, just by looking at his hands, someone can accurately judge everything inside of him. Reigen never says anything bad about the clients, of course, but he’s sure that he has to see it. All of Serizawa’s mistakes are surely reflected in the creases of his hand— and he’s made a lot of mistakes.
Serizawa spends a lot of time staring at his hands on the train. They’re square in shape, with short, blocked off fingers, and a tangled mess of lines and mounds— what Reigen calls the bumps of flesh on the client’s hands. He doesn’t know what any of it means. He doesn’t think it could be anything good.
The train rumbles under his feet, and hurriedly Serizawa tucks his free hand under his armpit. Like if it hand is out of his sight, the obsessive thought might be too. It doesn’t stop his eyes from ghosting over everyone else’s hands, that all surely say much better things about them than Serizawa’s.
He’s not doing a good job of not thinking about the hands.
Mainly, he keeps thinking about Reigen’s, which doesn’t bode well for Serizawa’s attempts at professionalism.
Serizawa realized fairly early on that his feelings for Reigen exceeded the typical respect one should have for an employer. It even went past the gratitude that one should have for someone who saved Serizawa’s life— because genuinely, Serizawa thinks that Reigen saved his life by giving him this job, when Serizawa didn’t even have a high school education or any practical experience beyond being a reformed terrorist. Even if Serizawa’s managed to stop referring to every manual of business practice as inarguable law, enough of them reiterated the extreme inappropriateness of workplace relationships that Serizawa figured it was a rule he should stick with. Their cautions at power imbalances, lack of professionalism, and the inevitability of messy breakups bang around in Serizawa’s mind every time he looks at Reigen.
Of course, it’s not like Reigen would want anything to do with Serizawa even without these restrictions. Reigen’s a good, helpful person, and he saw that Serizawa was in a bad spot, and wanted to do something about it. That was all. So, it’s up to Serizawa to draw a professional boundary. If he maintains a distance, that’s better for both of them— Reigen won’t have to deal with Serizawa’s messy, inappropriate feelings, and Serizawa won’t get hurt.
But the palm readings make that so much harder than necessary.
Reigen has nice hands, and he takes full advantage of them in every moment. They accent every word that Reigen ever speaks, making his case for him before he’s even begun a sentence. And when Reigen’s hands are making an energetic arc across the room, Serizawa keeps finding his mind going back to the dim office— the candles flickering in the dark, the sweet heady scent of incense. Reigen’s hands comfortably enveloping his hands.
Not his hands, really. It’s only Serizawa’s hands in his flushed, distracted imagination. He wishes, very desperately, that Reigen wasn’t so dedicated to the atmosphere of his services, but if he’s being honest with himself, Serizawa probably would have the same problem if Reigen conducted palmistry under the boring office lights.
It’s just Serizawa’s embarrassing personal problem. It’s something he has to deal with on his own. Another misguided crush on his employer— except he’s so sure that Reigen would let him down gently it burns.
It’s a slow day in the office when Reigen says, tone casual, “Serizawa, let me read your palm.”
Serizawa’s pen jags across the paper. He’s doing homework, which he always feels guilty for, even though Reigen’s repeatedly told him it’s fine, even offering to help him with any assignments he’s having trouble with. Now, he’s punished for slacking on the job by way of an unfortunate ink splatter obscuring a section of his notes. Serizawa feels a static charge draw up around his ears, and he takes a deep breath as he settles the pen against the page. “I don’t think that’s a good idea,” Serizawa says.
“Why not?” Reigen’s half out of his chair before he’s distracted by a loose set of papers about to escape his desk. He pins them down with a half full mug of tea, then continues his circuit around the desk. “We don’t have a client until later this afternoon, and it’ll be fun— enlightening, even. It’s a good team building exercise.”
He’s pretty sure Reigen just wants to put off the paperwork that he’s been complaining about the whole morning. It’s given him too much time to let his eyes drift across the room and watch Serizawa, probably monitoring any possible mistakes in his work. The palmistry poster’s right behind Serizawa’s head at his desk, so maybe that’s what made him think of it. Regardless, Serizawa does not want Reigen to be enlightened by anything about Serizawa. He clenches his hands into fists and sticks them under the desk, like maybe Reigen will forget about it if he can’t see them.
All the excuses collecting in his brain don’t make it to his mouth in time, and Reigen’s leaning against Serizawa’s desk. “Come on, Serizawa,” he entreats him, voice wheedling. “Don’t you ever unwind? It’s not bad to have a little fun when it’s slow.”
Serizawa can’t think of something less fun than his crush learning all of his secret and not-so-secret inadequacies while holding his hand. Plus, he’s sure that there’s something better both of them could be doing— that’s another thing the self help books harp on, that you can always find something to do to improve your workplace. But he’s not good at telling Reigen no. And so, in a matter of seconds, Reigen’s setting up the office as Serizawa watches, arms locked at his side.
“You don’t have to waste the incense candles,” Serizawa mumbles as Reigen energetically lights a match.
“It’s not a waste,” Reigen says firmly. “Anyway, I do my best readings when there’s a proper atmosphere.”
Since there’s no way to get out of this, besides maybe running straight out of the office and never coming back, Serizawa sits down at the table where Reigen always ushers their clients and waits. Reigen draws the blinds shut and then sits across from him, wiggling forward in his chair.
Reigen’s thighs sandwich the low table between them, pressing close enough for their knees to touch. Even though he’d dreaded the low lighting before, Serizawa’s abruptly grateful for the fact that Reigen can’t see the way his face heats in the dark.
And then, Reigen’s hands are taking his.
His hands are cool, maybe even a little clammy. They rest calmly against Serizawa’s over-hot skin, and Serizawa’s sure Reigen can feel the way that his pulse is rampaging in his wrist. Even before the palm reading’s begun, Serizawa’s hands apparently have the ability to betray him. He tries to swallow his nerves, again, force it all down. He can control himself, even if he’s feeling scared and lovesick. He’s not the person that he used to be.
Serizawa’s reminding himself of all of this, when Reigen says, very seriously, voice a low murmur, “you’ve got nice hands, you know.”
“What?” Serizawa blurts. “No, I don’t.” And then he flinches, immediately berating himself for contradicting Reigen.
Reigen’s eyebrows rise up, vanishing under his bangs. “Sure you do,” he says, insistent. And then, he turns Serizawa’s palm flat, running one electric finger around the circumference. “Square palm— short fingers. You’ve got earth hands. Means you’re reliable, Serizawa.”
Even though his brain is buzzing with this much prolonged contact— Serizawa’s not exactly had a lot of people spend extended time touching his hands, much less Reigen touching his hands— this sentence manages to drag him a little closer to reality again. Reigen just meant that comment in the context of palmistry, of course. He’s probably said similar things to his clients, even if Serizawa can’t exactly remember him saying them in this moment. He breathes.
After waiting long enough to realize that Serizawa’s not going to say anything in response, Reigen returns to tracing the lines of his hands. “Look here,” he murmurs, moving one finger down the center of his palm. “You’ve got a pretty pronounced fate line.”
And Serizawa knows, immediately, that that can’t be right. He’s heard enough of Reigen’s explanations to his clients to have learned that a deep fate line means you have control over your life— that outside actors don’t control your fate. Serizawa can’t think of something less likely to be applied to him. He feels his face sink, watching Reigen’s hand move, back and forth, over his own.
Reigen’s lying to him. He probably doesn’t mean it in a bad way. He probably wants to boost Serizawa’s abysmal self image, because Reigen’s good hearted like that. But it stings that he’d tell Serizawa falsehoods just to make him feel better, against something that demonstrably isn’t true. It calls into question every other good thing Reigen’s said about him.
“Aren’t you going to ask what that means?” Reigen’s eyes move up to look at Serizawa, burning holes in him.
Serizawa sucks in a breath that ghosts over his teeth. “Reigen-san…” He swallows, throat clicking. Every noise he makes suddenly feels so loud and over important when they sitting this close, without even the hum of fluorescent lights to drown it out. “I don’t really know if that makes sense, from what I’ve heard you say to the clients.”
Reigen’s eyebrows work together. “Your fate line can change over the course of your life, you know,” he says slowly. “Just like how you can change. It’s just a reflection of you.”
Serizawa lets his hand drop— it’s only Reigen’s interlaced fingers against the back of his hand that keeps his hand from knocking against the table. “I don’t know,” he mumbles. “I don’t know, if I’ve changed enough to justify that.”
“You’ve made a lot of changes,” Reigen says, still insistently not letting go of his hand. His fingers interlace into a cradle, and Serizawa can feel the press of Reigen’s index finger on one knuckle. “You’re taking classes. You chose to leave a harmful situation, when it would’ve been easier to stay. You’re working here. Serizawa, you’re the one that’s taking charge of your life now.”
But even that’s a falsehood. Serizawa knows, deep in his bones, that he never would have left CLAW on his own. He never would have been able to see past the circumference of his umbrella and his own starry infatuation. The only reason he was able to leave at all was because of Kageyama, forcing him out of the fantasy he was living in, and Reigen, offering him a lifeline when Serizawa was sitting in the absolute rubble of his fake life.
“Serizawa.” Reigen’s voice is suddenly sharp. “Are you really going to doubt an expert spiritualist such as myself?”
“N— no, I didn’t mean—“
“Then accept it. You’re the only one in charge of your life. Let’s look at something else more interesting,” Reigen says, immediately shifting gears and ending the conversational thread. “Your heart line, it looks like it’s pretty—“
And this is something that Serizawa absolutely cannot handle. He yanks his hand out of Reigen’s before he can stop himself. “Reigen-san,” he said, voice climbing an octave. “I don’t know if that’s— appropriate.”
“Eh?” Reigen’s blinking at him.
“I mean,” he pulls his arms back, keeping whatever incriminating information is inscribed on his hands safely hidden. “Isn’t it bad to discuss… Relationships, in the workplace?”
Reigen tilts his head like Serizawa’s said something foreign. “It’s perfectly normal,” he says. “I help Mob with his relationships all the time.”
That’s obviously completely different, Serizawa wants to say, but the words won’t come. Suddenly, he’s seized with the idea— Reigen already knows exactly what he’s thinking and feeling. There’s probably a specific triangle of flesh on Serizawa’s hand that communicates, this person is in love with their superior, and Reigen’s seen it and knows. Serizawa feels the redness climbing all over his face. He can’t stop himself from looking down, palm turning up as he tries to find whatever betrayed him.
And immediately, Reigen’s grabbed his hand again. Serizawa feels his brain misfiring as Reigen yanks it closer. “Look,” Reigen says, eager. “Yours begins below your index finger, from the edge of your palm.” He indicates it, and Serizawa desperately wishes his heart would stop jackhammering in response. His pulse is loud enough to hurt his head, so surely Reigen can feel it pounding in his grip. “Means you’ve got a giving heart, Serizawa. It’s pretty short, so you’re introverted… But deep, so relationships are definitely important to you.”
“Aren’t they important to everyone?” Serizawa asks, floundering for any type of purchase in this conversation.
“Not necessarily,” Reigen says. “I mean, think about it— you’ve definitely met people who’ve put more work into relationships than others, haven’t you? But you value the people around you, so your hands reflect that. Maybe even…” His hand traces a crease, and he wiggles an eyebrow at Serizawa. “Value of a specific person? Someone you have in mind?”
Bone deep shame makes itself known from within Serizawa’s marrow. His fingers automatically curl inward, in an attempt to hide, and suddenly, without realizing, he’s holding the tips of Reigen’s fingers under his.
He expects Reigen to pull back, automatic, but Reigen doesn’t move at all. All Reigen does is go still, not meeting Serizawa’s eyes all of the sudden. His nose dips forward to look down at their hands, hovering above the table. It’s like he’s shy. Reigen is never shy.
“It’s a good thing, you know,” he says. “You’d be a good partner.”
He’s staring down at their hands, resting against the table, still not moving to pull his fingers away, or even to spread open Serizawa’s hand to continue his relentless assault of kind words. It’s like he’s perfectly content to rest there, long fingers trapped in Serizawa’s grip, which is probably too tight and not at all pleasant. Serizawa keeps waiting and waiting for Reigen to pull away, but he doesn’t.
Then, suddenly, the door to the office buzzes, signifying a walk in client. Reigen pinwheels away so dramatically he almost falls off his chair. A little pop of psychic energy spreads out from Serizawa’s feet, lifting everything in the office just an inch off the ground before it drops again. Serizawa stands, frantic, looking for something to do as Reigen hurriedly draws open the blinds.
It’s too late, though. The unexpected customer’s standing in the entrance, staring at both of them. “Um,” he begins, phone held lamely up. “I saw the sign outside, and I was wondering if I could ask about getting some spirit tags…”
Reigen recovers admirably, immediately pivoting into welcoming the customer and acting like it’s perfectly normal for both of them to sit around in the dark with only candles to see by. Serizawa guesses it’s not totally unreasonable— it is a psychic business, after all. You’d only know it was strange if you were a regular customer, and this man isn’t.
The only thing that betrays it as odd is the red blush that’s spread all over Reigen’s face, even staining his ears. It couldn’t be because of Serizawa, of course— it’s just that a customer caught him off guard. It has to be that.
Serizawa stares at the back of Reigen’s flushed neck, and wonders.
The rest of the day is tense.
It’s not exactly like Serizawa and Reigen sit side by side all day, but Reigen normally will get up and come see what Serizawa’s doing. He’ll hang over him as he supervises his work, or offer suggestions on whatever homework assignment he’s working on. In general, Reigen seems to dislike sitting still for long hours. He tends to pace about as he verbally puzzles through work problems to Serizawa, or Mob, or, probably, to an empty room. But after the palm reading, Reigen stays firmly confined to his desk, not saying anything at all as he still fidgets. Even when a client comes for an exorcism and he has to get up, Reigen maintains an exaggeratedly respectful distance between him and Serizawa.
The palm reading plays on repeat in Serizawa’s head, offering new mistakes for Serizawa to fixate on each time. The more they sit in silence, the more Serizawa’s completely sure that Reigen knows exactly how he feels. Why else would he suddenly become so shy? He wishes, fervently, that he’d just managed to keep it to act normally. Maybe if he hadn’t made such a fuss about the whole thing he wouldn’t have made Reigen uncomfortable. Now it’s even more obvious to Reigen where his feelings lie. It must disgust him, to have to deal with Serizawa’s sad, misaimed emotions— pathetically clinging to any basic kindness shown to him.
The whole afternoon, Reigen’s ears stay red as he works at his computer, only stealing glances at Serizawa when he thinks Serizawa can’t see.
He has to say something. He has to to apologize to Reigen for making everything so awkward. Maybe if he promises that he can control his feelings, that it won’t get in the way, things could go back to normal. Serizawa wishes the earth would swallow him whole. But it won’t— not without Serizawa splitting the earth open himself, at least. But if Serizawa wants to have any chance of reintegrating into normal society he has to deal with his feelings in an adult way.
Of course, Reigen beats him to bringing it up, as Serizawa’s dragging up the nerve to say something at the end of the day. He’s just stood, closing his laptop as he says, “Serizawa,” and pauses immediately, scratching the back of his neck. “You know, when you mentioned inappropriate workplace relationships—“
“I promise it won’t get in the way of anything,” Serizawa says in an explosive rush. “Please don’t fire me.”
Reigen stares at him, one hand still resting on the back of his neck. This is a look that Serizawa’s unfortunately gotten to know quite well. It’s the look that Reigen gives him when he’s said something unexpected. Serizawa’s begun to mentally mark it as a sign as conversational failure. “Pardon?”
Serizawa was really desperately hoping that Reigen wouldn’t make him actually say it, but that was looking less and less likely. “When you read my palm,” he stammers out, clutching onto the edge of his desk for dear life. “I know maybe not everything you saw was— appropriate, or maybe it showed something it shouldn’t, but I promise I won’t let it get in the way of working here. I can maintain professional boundaries, and… And…”
His voice trails as he dares to look back into Reigen’s face. It’s completely red again, naked surprise totally dominating his features. His hand’s gripping the back of his chair, like it’s stuck there. Reigen very rarely holds still, but in this moment, he’s completely frozen in place. By shock.
Abruptly, Serizawa realizes he was wrong. Reigen hadn’t seen his feelings in the surface of his fingers. But if he didn’t know about it before, he definitely, definitely knows about it now.
For a split second, Serizawa’s certain the office will collapse around them— his powers going rampant one last time to spare him this complete embarrassment. But all that happens is the furniture trembles, once. Serizawa supposes, under the part of his brain that’s screaming for death, that it shows he’s made good progress on controlling his powers.
He stands robotically. “I should go,” he says.
“No— no,” Reigen suddenly blurts, and he unsticks himself from behind the desk, racing across the office after Serizawa. “Serizawa, wait—”
Serizawa trips over his chair in his rush to leave, which gives Reigen the time to grab his arm before he reaches the door. It would be very easy to pull free and continue his frantic path onto the street and into the horizon, but the feeling of Reigen’s fingers digging into the side of his arm totally arrests Serizawa. He freezes, staring down into Reigen’s still beet-red face.
Reigen’s face is twitching in some kind of worrisome motion— he really looks like he’s about to have some kind of seizure, especially when his complexion is still so totally red. But finally, he manages to speak. “Our heart lines might not be so different, you know,” he says, voice wobbling just a little from— nerves? That can’t be right. Unless Reigen’s so totally disgusted by him that he’s nervous to be around him, now. But he’s holding on so tightly. Like he doesn’t want Serizawa to go.
Serizawa’s eyes slide away, not wanting to look at Reigen dead on, but then Reigen tugs his arm, insistent, trying to get his attention again. “Obviously, the qualities that we have, and the ways that we love— hypothetically— are very different,” Reigen says, voice gaining volume. “But, maybe similar things are revealed if you look closely. Just… A little closer.”
And then he doesn’t say anything, staring wide eyed at Serizawa. He’s clearly waiting for something, as Serizawa’s brain shudders to put the pieces together past every instinct that’s screaming at him to escape. Serizawa can’t conceive of a person being more different from him than Reigen. Any kind of similarity seems like too much to imagine. A similarity of the heart line? Maybe, Reigen has some of the good qualities he’s superimposed onto Serizawa, and that’s what he means. Or maybe— maybe—
Before he can stop himself, Serizawa’s hand slides up to grab the one that Reigen’s got on his arms. This time Reigen’s hand is damp with sweat. So is Serizawa’s, and he can’t imagine that it’s a pleasant experience for Reigen. Still, Reigen spreads his fingers, interlacing Serizawa’s fingers with his as they fall to the side.
“Just a little closer,” Reigen says again, voice almost a whisper as he steps into Serizawa’s personal space. The gap between their bodies narrows, and then vanishes, Reigen’s torso pressing against Serizawa’s.
It seems, impossibly, to be what Reigen wants. So before he can stop himself, Serizawa dips his head and kisses Reigen.
Reigen’s body leans up and into Serizawa, his free hand reaching up to touch his face. Underneath the fireworks happening behind Serizawa’s eyelids, there’s a moment of terror at Reigen touching his face— like he’ll find some patchy place where Serizawa missed shaving, or the pockmarked memory of an acne scar, and abruptly snap out of whatever insanity’s fallen over him. But Reigen touches his cheek gently, so, so, gently, and the fingers encircling Serizawa’s only tighten.
He’s sure, from any objective standpoint, it’s not a very good kiss— Serizawa’s never kissed anyone before, so his skills are probably awful. But it also means it’s the best he’s ever had. He never wants to come up for air.
Eventually, though, their faces break apart. Reigen’s face is still twitching a little, but now it’s up into an almost manic smile. Serizawa’s starting to wonder if the blush across Reigen’s face will ever subside. “This is,” Reigen begins, and then stops.
Reigen’s words rarely stop, and the silence stretches on for a few uninterrupted seconds until Serizawa realizes that genuinely, Reigen’s lost for words. A laugh threatens to break loose from Serizawa’s chest, but he doesn’t want it to seem like he’s laughing at Reigen. He only wants to express that whatever Reigen’s feeling, Serizawa understands. Completely and totally. It’s something he feels confident of when typically, Serizawa feels confident of nothing. So he just smiles, hoping that maybe, Reigen will understand too.
“I should have gotten into palmistry earlier,” Reigen says finally, and at that Serizawa can’t suppress his laugh. “Clearly I should screw around reading articles on the weekend more.”
“This wasn’t the reason you learned about palmistry,” Serizawa says, laugh still making his voice shake.
“Hell no,” Reigen snorts. “I just wanted to find another way to make a quick buck.” Then, immediately, he adds, “and also help our clients find out important truths about themselves, and the universe, of course—”
“While making a quick buck,” Serizawa says. It feels too joking, too disrespectful, but then, Serizawa’s just kissed Reigen. Reigen’s kissed him back. Worrying about professionalism seems suddenly pointless.
Reigen raises an eyebrow at him. “Sassy. Just don’t say that to the clients, Serizawa.”
His hand’s still clinging to Serizawa, gently swinging between them. Impulsively, Serizawa brings the hand up to his mouth, kissing the knuckles. Reigen’s breath pulls in, and Serizawa feels his face heat. He suddenly realizes that really, he has no idea what Reigen expects from this. They could be on completely different pages, Serizawa could be moving too fast, he could be doing everything all wrong.
But Reigen’s smiling at him. It’s a smile that he hasn’t seen before— totally unlike the dazzling grins that he gives his clients, and everyone he’s trying to convince to believe him. It feels different. The other smiles, Serizawa realizes, are something that Reigen puts on, in the same way that he puts on his tie in the morning. This one is real. This one is for Serizawa.
There’s a part of his stomach that’s still telling him this whole thing is a bad idea. Every chapter on workplace relationships he’s taken careful notes on is flashing on the back of his eyelids when he blinks. But, more and more, Serizawa’s realized that Spirits and Such is far from a typical office environment. Serizawa’s not a typical employee, and Reigen— wonderful, strange, perfect, Reigen— is not a typical boss.
When they walk out of the office, Reigen’s still holding his hand. Serizawa hopes, impossibly, that he never stops.
