hihi pia! youve said before that you like to leave a lot of the visuals up to the readers imagination with what you write, but i thought to ask can you explain maybe the layour of garys cottage? 😭😭 im so bad with stuff like orientation and space, and i struggle so much sometimes when i read and think ok, now where is that door they came from and where is that chair next to the table and that window. rereading the teacup incident & i just really cant make it work. its fine if not. ily!
Anon, very unfortunately, I am not an architect, and I just spent 30 minutes trying to draw this out which has highlighted to me that I know what the layout is but my job is actually writing and not...drawing the layouts of homes. (If only)
You can always just look up cosy cottages and then use that, anon!
The job of a reader (imho) isn't to imagine things exactly as they are, but go from the details they've been given and often relate that back to what they already know. Sometimes that might mean looking something up if it's genuinely something you've never seen before (karri trees), or relating them back to a tall tree you're familiar with (sequoias). In fact no reader imagines the same thing when they're reading. I could spend 1000 words describing a red cabinet and people will imagine 1000 slightly different variations anyway. Everyone has a different idea of 'red' and a different idea of 'wood' and a different idea of 'cabinet' and even if I lock down into the nitty gritty, if we're not living in the same country, our power sockets look different, our heating and cooling systems (and accommodations for them) are different, the fabrics we use are different (unless we all go to IKEA), the smells of the home are all slightly different.
I think even if I did draw it out successfully in two hours (which is not time I really have spare at the moment :/ I wish I did because I think it could be fun except that I don't want to download architecture software to make an actual blueprint of an entire cottage that's in scale but also shows exactly where the furniture will go which includes interior design as well x.x - and I do know exactly how it's laid out mentally, so I know I could make it work. (And I still might, maybe, but probably not while I have a 15 week old puppy I'm sorry anon D: ) But yeah doing it on paper has proven to me that actually writing out the location of like 50 different things means the blueprint becomes too small and messy to still tell what's going on. I wrote 'table and chairs' over the table and chairs and now you can no longer see the table and chairs in my sketch which is not useful!
There's a difference between the layout of a house and the layout of the objects and furniture in a house. I may have worked for an architecture firm, but I am not a house designer. *cries*
But! All you really need to know is that Gary can't see the kitchen cabinets from where he sits on the couch. Which means if someone crouches down and opens the cabinets, he can't see them either. There are a lot of houses that have layouts like this, especially houses that have a counter not just up against the wall, but in the middle of the kitchen.
For example in this image, if a couch was in front of the kitchen counter that's free-standing, and a person was sitting on the couch and looked at the free-standing kitchen counter, they would not be able to see the kitchen cabinets from the free standing kitchen counter, or what's in them. They can only see the counter. If the lounge was lower than the kitchen, they'd see even less.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/51ef00b6e621d97003707dd1c9689cbd/7a4fbff900d230b5-2a/s540x810/d4f94e7380652426463f811330a9237226b782fb.jpg)
In this image, if the couch was where the stairs are, you'd not be able to see what Efnisien was doing in the kitchen at all until he stoop and held up the teacup. If he kept the teacup low in his hands, you'd not be able to see it at all.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f7c15bbcd3d0d5af6f57889fb571c570/7a4fbff900d230b5-32/s540x810/b15f614851aa3575f8a32feedea9708d9169c89c.jpg)
Because Gary's cottage is small, but open plan, the lounge has a view to the kitchen, but not directly into the kitchen.
There's lots of houses that feature this kind of architecture, so if you really want to go down that rabbit hole, you can just search different kitchens in cottages until you see one where if you sit on the couch, you can't see someone crouched in front of the kitchen cabinets.
Gary's free-standing kitchen counter is also multi-level like this is multi-level:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/53cdd01ab6d31a093c4f415a8de4c893/7a4fbff900d230b5-bb/s540x810/bfb5ae1b3a455eb164d3b07d99cfe55491d087a4.jpg)
So someone could stand there and make a coffee and a person sitting on the couch wouldn't be able to see what they were doing. Ornaments and vases and notes etc. can go on the raised bit, and kitchen stuff can happen on the lower bit.
Ah marvel at my use of technical terms *cries again*
Anyway! I hope that helps somewhat. I'm mad that I can't draw this layout for you because I do wish I could just...mentally take people on a tour through this cottage. And it would be great to do that. But I am looking at the saddest most pathetic sketch in my sketchpad right now, and I used to work as an artist, but I'm just very very very very bad at this kind of technical drawing.
But maybe the teacup scene will make a little more sense now :)
#asks and answers#pia on writing#pia on failing at writing lmao#underline the black#setting description is tough because like#unless you yourself are actually drawing a layout anon#which almost no one does#what most people get instead is just a 'sense' of where things are#they might know the bedroom feels like it's in the right place if it's too the right or the left#or they might imagine something cosy for them#when you don't get that sense#you can then go to looking up cottages#like 'australia cottage bushland' or something#and get an idea of the woods and furniture used in some of the nicer small ones#if you find something you like you can use that#just like writing is an artform#reading is also a bit of an artform#the best part is you transform the story as you read it#it's not meant to look like how i imagined it exactly#it becomes something entirely new in your head#but i still hope this post helped!!!!

![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/8795228fead4dd299761fc88e7626f9c/6222c63be6ad366a-8b/s400x600/ac3dee6b0399eba13c932c0c437a2df82c7833dc.jpg)
Introduction:
If you were to walk into a living room, chances are your eyes would be drawn to a piece of furniture that is as common as it is diverse – the coffee table. You might take it for granted, assuming it's merely a place to rest your coffee cup or display a decorative item or two. However, the coffee table is more than just a piece of wood or glass; it's a versatile and functional addition to your living space. In this article, we'll delve into the world of coffee table Kellyville, exploring its history, its many uses, and how it can define the character of your living room.
I. Choosing the Perfect Coffee Table for Your Space
Now that we understand the coffee table's diverse roles, it's essential to choose the right one for your living space. Here are some factors to consider when making your selection.
1.1 Size Matters
The size of your coffee table should be proportionate to the size of your living room. It should not overwhelm the space, nor should it be so tiny that it gets lost. Measure your available space and consider the scale of your other furniture to ensure a harmonious fit.
1.2 Material Selection
It comes in various materials, from wood and glass to metal and stone. Your choice of material should align with your aesthetic preferences and the overall style of your living room. For a cozy, rustic feel, go for a wooden table, while glass tables can give a room a more modern and airy look.
1.3 Shape and Style
The shape of your table is an essential design consideration. Rectangular tables are classic and versatile, fitting well in most living rooms. However, don't be afraid to consider other shapes, such as round or oval, to add a touch of uniqueness to your space.
1.4 Functionality
Think about how you plan to use your coffee table. If you need extra storage space, opt for a table with drawers or shelves. If you have young children, consider rounded edges for safety. Functionality should align with your lifestyle and needs.
1.5 Budget
It comes in a wide range of price points. Set a budget and stick to it, considering that, as with most furniture, quality often comes at a higher cost. However, you can find stylish and functional options at various price levels.
II. Coffee Table Styles: From Vintage to Contemporary
Coffee tables from online furniture stores come in a wide range of styles, making it easy to find one that suits your taste and the aesthetic of your living room.
2.1 Vintage Charm
If you're a fan of all things vintage, consider a wooden table with a classic design. Antique or vintage-inspired tables often feature intricate details, solid wood construction, and a touch of nostalgia. They can add character to both traditional and eclectic interiors.
2.2 Minimalist and Modern
For those who prefer clean lines and a contemporary look, minimalist tables are a great choice. These tables often feature sleek materials like glass, metal, or a combination of both. They're perfect for spaces with a modern, uncluttered aesthetic.
2.3 Rustic Elegance
Rustic coffee tables bring the warmth of the countryside to your living room. Made from materials like reclaimed wood or distressed metal, these tables exude a cozy, inviting charm. They're particularly well-suited for homes with farmhouse or cottage-style decor.
2.4 Industrial Edge
Industrial-style coffee tables are a unique blend of raw materials like metal and wood. They often feature bold, no-nonsense designs, making them an excellent choice for urban or loft-style interiors. It can add an edgy and modern touch to your living space.
2.5 Eco-Friendly Options
If you're environmentally conscious, consider a coffee table made from sustainable or recycled materials. Many manufacturers now offer eco-friendly options, allowing you to enjoy a stylish and guilt-free addition to your home.
Conclusion:
In the world of interior furniture online the coffee table is a small but essential element that plays a significant role in the overall ambiance of your living space. Its versatility allows it to serve as a gathering place, a decorative centerpiece, and a functional asset. The choices are endless, from vintage to contemporary, and everything in between, ensuring there's a coffee table for every style and space.
So, next time you sit down on your couch with a cup of coffee or a good book, take a moment to appreciate the unassuming table in front of you. It's more than just a place for coffee; it's a reflection of your personality and an integral part of your home's design.

Six months of marriage. It was still a short time, but to Daniel and Yin it felt like they had been together for a lifetime. From the beginning, they knew they wanted to spend every day with each other, to build something big. And little by little, they were making that happen.
That’s why they decided to move out of their luxurious apartment in Monaco and buy a large house in Australia. The extra space would be perfect for their future children, who were not yet on the way but were in their plans for the near future. They wanted a home with a backyard, where the laughter of children could one day echo, and where they could create new memories together.
The move was not sudden. Over the past few months, they had purchased furniture and decorative items online, planning every detail of their new home. Daniel’s mother, always helpful, received all the deliveries, ensuring that when they arrived, they had everything they needed to transform the house into a real home.
And the day of moving finally arrived.
The house was filled with boxes of all sizes. Some heavy, some huge, some smaller and delicate. The challenge now was to organize everything. Daniel and Y/n decided that they would first distribute the boxes in the correct rooms, and then begin assembling and decorating.
Daniel walked through the room carrying a large box, destined for the kitchen.
"If I drop this, at least it's going to the right place. One less trip."
Y/n rolled her eyes and laughed.
The music was playing in the background on one of their cell phones, but unlike what they usually did, neither of them stopped to sing out loud or improvise a performance. The focus was on the change, on the new phase.
As Daniel returned from the kitchen, Y/n opened a box and found something special. A photo album she had put together for him when they had been dating for three years. Her lips curved into a nostalgic smile.
"Danny, look what I found."
He walked over and sat down next to her, picking up the album. As soon as he opened it to the first photo, he let out a surprised laugh.
"Wow, look how new we were here."
Y/n chuckled and looked at him, arching an eyebrow.
"Are you calling us old?"
Daniel laughed out loud. "Not old... but we're past the stage of teenagers in love."
Before Y/n could respond, he pulled her close and began to plant quick kisses all over her face, making her laugh out loud and try to pull away playfully.
"Danny, stop! I'm trying to work!"
He gave her forehead one last kiss before standing up, extending his hand to help her up as well.
"Come on, time to assemble furniture! If we survived planning this move together, assembling a sofa will be easy."
With that, they went back to the original plan: separating the boxes by room before opening everything.
Daniel took the boxes marked 'kitchen' and took them to the right room, while Y/n organized the ones in the 'bedroom' near the stairs, and then asked him for help going up.
But, even though they had agreed on a system, the organization did not last long.
With each box opened, one or the other would call their partner to show them something interesting, give their opinion on where an item should go, or simply share a nostalgic moment. The idea of sorting first and opening later was quickly forgotten, but that only made it more fun. After all, they were building a home, their way.
Y/n was carrying another box to the kitchen when she heard Daniel's voice calling her.
"Honey, come see this!"
She set the box down on the counter and walked to the back porch, where Daniel stood, looking out at the yard with a satisfied smile. As soon as she laid eyes on the view, her eyes widened.
"Oh my God... it looks so much bigger than in the pictures!"
"I know, right?" Daniel agreed, wrapping an arm around her waist. "It'll be perfect for the little Ricciardos to run around and burn off some energy."
Y/n smiled fondly and kissed his cheek before heading back to the kitchen. However, as soon as she entered the room from a different angle, she noticed something.
The mess.
Boxes were scattered everywhere, some open, others stacked haphazardly. The near-perfect plan they had come up with in the beginning? Completely ignored.
"Okay, I think we... made a bit of a mix-up here." Y/n stepped over one of the boxes carefully.
Daniel walked in soon after and his eyes widened as he took in the situation. "This isn't a mess. This is a work of chaos art."
Y/n laughed. "Next time, we'll hire someone to do it for us."
"Or we promise we'll actually follow through on our plan."
They checked that all the boxes destined for the kitchen were there and made a pact: no one would touch anything until the other boxes were in their proper rooms.
They assigned objects to each corner of the house. Kitchen, living room, bathrooms, the upstairs bedrooms, the balcony. Everything in its place.
When they were done, Y/n put her hands on her hips and looked around. "Okay, I guess we could set up some-"
The music changed. The first notes of Snow by Red Hot Chilli Peppers began to play on the cell phone.
"SHUT UP!" Y/n shouted excitedly.
Daniel turned around in fright, but soon burst out laughing.
"What?"
She ignored him and went to her cell phone, turning up the volume. Without hesitation, she began to sing along and dance in an exaggerated and funny way, swinging her arms and moving her body to the rhythm.
Daniel turned to her and smiled, watching the scene.
At the fast part of the song, Y/n tried to follow along, but her British accent made her stumble over the words, and Daniel laughed out loud.
"That was... almost perfect."
"Shut up and dance with me, Ricciardo!"
She grabbed his hand and pulled him, making him spin her around as if they were on an improvised dance floor. They both laughed out loud, enjoying that moment of relaxation.
When the song ended, Daniel hugged Y/n from behind, holding her arms close to her body and kissing her cheek.
"I love you." He murmured.
Y/n blushed, feeling her cheeks heat up. Even after years together, he still had this effect on her.
Daniel turned Y/n to face him and pressed his lips against hers. The kiss started out soft, a perfect fit of affection and familiarity. But, as always, the intensity grew as Daniel deepened the touch, one of his hands coming up to cup her face. Y/n sighed against his lips, allowing herself to sink into the moment, until he smiled against the kiss and pulled away slightly.
"Okay," Daniel said. "Choose a piece of furniture for us to assemble."
Y/n looked around, analyzing the pile of boxes. After a few seconds, she pointed. "The sofa."
"This one is too big. Better leave it for another day."
She pouted and looked again. "Okay... the panel to put the TV on."
"It seems complicated. Better wait for your brothers to arrive."
Y/n chuckled, crossing her arms. "The kitchen cabinet?"
Daniel frowned and let out a dramatic sigh. "So practical and useful... do we really need to assemble it?"
Y/n turned to him and narrowed her eyes, laughing. "You don't want to do anything, do you?"
Daniel threw up his hands. "I just think our organization system was a success. Who needs furniture?"
The two laughed, but in the end, they decided to assemble the TV panel. The process was chaotic.
"Where does this fit?" Y/n asked, holding up a piece.
"Hmm..." Daniel looked at the manual upside down. "Maybe there?"
"Where there? In your head?"
"Haha, less mocking and more screws."
At one point, Y/n lost her balance while trying to hold the panel against the wall.
"DANNY!"
He ran to help her, holding the piece so it wouldn't fall on her while she regained her balance.
After much effort, the panel was finally finished. The two of them took a step back and looked at it proudly.
"THAT!" Daniel smiled. "One down. Just a few thousand more to go scattered around the room."
Y/n rolled her eyes but laughed.
Daniel then began to unpack the TV. Excitedly, he grabbed the bubble wrap and threw it behind him without looking.
"Daniel!"
He turned around and found Y/n covered in plastic, some falling over her head and shoulders.
"Oops." Daniel bit his lip to keep from laughing.
Y/n crossed her arms, feigning a serious expression.
He walked over, taking the plastics from her while popping a few in the process.
"Okay, okay. Forgive me?"
She smiled and shook her head. "Let's put the TV on the dashboard."
She walked over to the furniture and began gesturing. "I think if we fit it in here first and then adjust the brackets, it'll be perfect."
Daniel, however, had another idea. "Or... we put it the other way. First fit the base, then adjust it."
Y/n raised an eyebrow. "This isn't going to work."
"Trust me. It will be perfect!!"
She shrugged and accepted his idea, but she already knew: the first time something went wrong, she wouldn't miss the chance to say I told you so.
Night had come. Time had passed without them noticing, and now they were sitting on the mattress that should have been on the bed - but which, after trying to assemble it and giving up because of the endless pieces, ended up being moved to the living room.
Little by little, the house began to take shape. The TV panel was on the wall—apparently well fixed—the coffee table was assembled and one of the armchairs was finally in place. In the kitchen, the boxes had been organized, and luckily, the custom furniture already installed made the job easier.
Y/n was sitting on the mattress, legs crossed, looking around and analyzing everything they had done that day. That's when Daniel appeared with two glasses and two cans of soda.
"Are we going to have soda in wine glasses today?" Y/n raised an eyebrow, holding back a laugh.
Daniel laughed. "I couldn't find the glasses, much less the wine I brought this morning. So we improvised."
She took one of the glasses from his hand, and Daniel sat down next to her, pouring the soda for her before filling his own glass.
Y/n took a sip, laughing at the situation. "That's too fancy."
"To the changes." Daniel clinked his glass to hers.
She smiled and leaned against the wall behind them, her eyes scanning the room, now much less chaotic than when they arrived. "You know... I love this. I love all of this. This beginning. Us, doing everything together."
Daniel looked at her and smiled. His heart warmed when he saw the sparkle in his wife's eyes. He remembered perfectly the day he saw her for the first time, years ago, in the paddock. She looked completely lost, holding her team badge and trying to find the garage where she was supposed to work. By pure luck or fate, it was the same garage where he was racing that season.
"I still remember the day I first saw you," Daniel commented. "Walking around the paddock like a madwoman, trying to find the right garage.
Y/n laughed. "You scared me that day. You came out of nowhere asking if I was running away from someone."
"And you said you were almost running away from yourself." Daniel laughed and took a sip of his soda. "I should have realized right then that I was screwed."
Y/n rolled her eyes, laughing. "And here we are. Married. Assembling furniture and drinking soda out of wine glasses."
"The new house, the life together... this is just the beginning of a new phase." He smiled.
She nodded, leaning her head on his shoulder and taking a sip of her soda. "New phase, new traditions."
"Like, drinking soda from a glass?"
"Exactly."
After a hot shower - fortunately, the bathroom in their room was already minimally organized - they decided to sleep in the living room, where the mattress was spread out.
Daniel turned off the lights while Y/n closed the blinds in the room. They got under the covers, enjoying each other's warmth.
"Do you think we'll be cool parents?" Y/n asked, her voice soft in the darkness.
Daniel smiled in the dark. "I think so. And if we're not, at least we'll be really funny parents."
Y/n laughed. "I keep imagining them growing up here. Running around the yard, making a mess of the house..."
"And you complaining about the mess."
"And you encouraging them to do more."
Daniel laughed. "They're going to be Ricciardos, love. It's in the DNA."
"I can't wait." Y/n sighed happily.
He kissed the top of her head. "Me neither."
They said goodnight, and silence fell over the room. Only the buzz of the condominium and the wind in the trees outside.
For exactly 30 seconds.
Until a loud crash made them both shrink a little under the blanket. Daniel lifted his head and blinked a few times in the dark.
"Yeah... our TV is on the floor right now."
"I TOLD YOU SO!" Y/n let out a laugh.
Daniel laughed along, pulling her closer and kissing her neck, making her cringe at the tickle.
"I'll never hear the end of this story, will I?"
"Never!!"
They laughed, and Daniel didn't care if the TV was broken or not. None of that mattered. He was happy. He was starting a new phase of his life. And most importantly, it wasn't just with his girlfriend of years.
It was with his wife.

Sometimes, I think Arthur's house would be a dull empty two bedroom flat in south London: ugly cream carpet, a ratty old sofa, a coffee table littered with cigarettes and cans of fosters.
Then other times, I feel he would have a place that is so unbelievably homely: he would have plants everywhere, not house plants but the proper potted kind you bring in for the winter ready to replant in spring; there would be tapestries all over the wall, a home-made quilt, embroidered pillow slips; books thrown everywhere, at least four copies of wuthering heights, and he's currently using Shakespeare plays as make-shift coasters.
But the home is not just his. There's a porcelain tea set missing half its teacups, France commissioned him a new set to match the old but he took too much creative liberty and so they only thing they have in common is the shade of green of the floral detailing. The breakfast bar is a shitty plastic thing he found on the side of the road, and its covered in coffee stains and burn marks, courtesy of America. There's always dishes in the sink and yet never any groceries in the fridge, just corner-shop cakes and a punnet of strawberries. Canada leaves sticky notes when he's around, 'buy bread' and 'stop putting the sauces in the draw once they've been opened', and Arthur neglects them for so long they can be found in the back of the cupboards and all over the floor. Peter tore a not-so-covert hole in the voile curtain over the window years ago, and Australia has slammed his door open so many times there's a dent in the wall from the doorknob.
I just really believe Arthur is sooo loved. Like sure, there's beer cans and disposable vapes and furniture from the side of the road, but there's also so much family and love squeezed into that shitty two bedroom flat.
#hws england#hetalia#aph england#face family if u want#usuk if u want#fruk if u want#idgaf#this is about interior design and the unconscious contributions of your loved ones#the house should be so ugly but its lovely actually#i dont think arthur would admit it but he likes it a lot#it make him very happy <3 even that ugly hole in the curtain man

Wednesday 8th January 2025
Vaucluse
Balgowlah continues to be swept by a gale and looked threatening outside, although still quite warm. That's the odd thing about the weather in this country. Travelling into Sydney yesterday on the bus, despite the proof of intent to rain, people did not wear coats or jackets. They may not even own one. We, on the other hand, were covered in protective rainwear and warm as a result but looked very English, so I think our cover is blown.
Anyway, while we were to be out today, the roofer was here to take a very close interest in the roof above our bedroom, and in the meantime, the dehumidifier continues to hum.
Our excursion today was to follow in the tracks of William Charles Wentworth deceased, who from 1827 lived at Vaucluse House near Watson Bay. Having been inspired by the life and accomplishments of this 19th century man, we were pleased to find that he lived within easy reach of us here. We caught a ferry from Manly to Watson Bay and then a 325 right to the entrance of the house.
A cottage had been constructed in 1809 on a 32 acre site within sight of the southern shore of Sydney Harbour by the previous incumbent, an Irishman, Sir Henry Browne Hayes; a convict. It was apparent that despite title, Henry was not a very nice sort, and was a disgrace to his ermine, which was the reason he found himself in Sydney. He was transported in 1802 because he had kidnapped the daughter of a wealthy Irish banker! In 1812, he left the colony and returned to Ireland, but not before he had carried out a fair bit of landscaping on the estate and purchasing even more land. Some say he had brought in from Ireland a lot of the emerald isle grass to surround his little cottage to keep the snakes out, apparently. After he had left, the property had a few owners before our man acquired it and set about extensive improvements.
It was interesting to experience the presentation of this sort of property as a preserved stately home and make comparisons with the methodology of our own National Trust. The house, as it presents today, is Georgian in its symmetry, but also in gothic revival style. Very English country house architecturally overall, and filled with heavy Victorian furniture. The Wentworths found themselves in an extremely complex web of social difficulties. William was born illegitimate; a product of a father with aristocratic birth and a mother transported as a criminal. William, now with a corrected birth certificate showing his father's surname, then makes the same societal mistake by marrying Sarah, a daughter of transported convicts. William, now coming into prominence, finds his wife is not able to move freely in the world he inhabits. It appears that all the Jane Austen palaver is alive and well in the colonies, too. People shunned her company and would only consider her daughters as marriage material if she kept out of the way. Sarah must have been a remarkable woman! She was quite remarkable in the decorating department because it was she who was responsible for much of the development of Vaucluse House and, therefore, it's social standing in the vicinity.
All the while that we explored this interesting building, the heavens continued to drain their contents. When it decides to rain in Australia, it does a pretty thorough job. The rain has been falling pretty much continuously for 36 hours now. The plunge pool is about to overflow, and the roofer must be feeling like King Canute. We had intended making our way from Vaucluse to the mausoleum where our William now resides. It was only a few hundred metres from the house, but such was the velocity of the rain, we turned back in favour of the 325 bus stop and our return journey to Wynyard Station. We shall return on a future trip to complete this pilgrimage.
Settled by now into our seat on the bus, dripping profoundly into the upholstery, our thoughts were mulling over the Wentworth history, when there was a distinct and unwelcome whirring sort of noise from the bowels of the engine department. We stopped at a convenient place for the driver to think of the consequences of such a noise, and then he announced that we must all get off immediately. But where are we? we asked. Kings Cross, he said. Is there a train nearby? Oh, they are everywhere, he said. Well we could see we wouldn't get much further with this conversation, so we set off into the unknown. Well, there was a train, and after a couple of changes, and getting even more wet, we ended up back at Wynyard and catching the 173x home.
It's been quite a day. I think we deserve our Coopers, and perhaps some SB.
ps. We met a New Yorker today who made light of the rain saying you English must be used to this sort of thing. Get out there and enjoy it. After all, you must all be issued with an umbrella when you are born.

Chapter 22: Unfinished Business
Chapter Warnings: Explicitly mature content, 18+ only, unprotected PIV (play safe ya'll)
Series Masterlist
Series Summary:
You are neighbors with Austin Butler on the Gold Coast of Australia just prior to shooting Elvis. You become just friends because he is taken. However, after he is single again, you both find out just how attracted you are to one another and things get unrelentingly hot.
SERIES WARNING: Explicitly mature content, 18+ only, here there be lemons.
Authors Notes: I started writing this while remodeling my kitchen, so that informed the slightly quirky narrative. It starts slow, but once it heats up, it is on fire. I have tried to pull facts from RL as much as I could, but obviously there are some assumptions and flat out dreamy wishes involved here.
Chapter 22: Unfinished Business
When you wake up, Austin is not in bed with you. You wrap yourself in your robe and go looking for him. You find a note on the table.
“out walking, didn’t want to wake you, be back soon “
He wrote the time, he only left about 15 min ago.
You check the door and find it locked, you smile.
You make a cup of coffee and decide you might as well dig in. You plait your hair into a braid, put on a work shirt, pants and work boots.
Knowing you were going to demo today, you had already packed away the kitchen non-essentials. It takes less than an hour to clear everything out of the kitchen and push all the living room furniture up against the far wall. You cover it all in a plastic sheet and hang more sheeting over the hallway to the bedrooms to keep the dust down in there. You quickly cut the seams on the offensive wall and strip off the trim. You check twice to make sure the power to all the outlets is off.
Donning your gloves, impact glasses and dust mask, you pick up your 10 pound sledge hammer.
“Time to go to work,” you say to yourself. You take swing after swing, breaking starter holes in the drywall between studs. You actually love this part, working up a sweat and swinging your sledge. The section of the wall is only about 10 feet long. When you get to the end, you lean on the sledge, breathing heavily.
“Damn, that is sexy as hell,” you hear from behind you.
Austin is standing by the front door, holding two coffees and a bakery bag. He is staring at you like he’s never seen you before.
“Oh hey! There you are!” your voice muffled behind your mask.
“I brought you breakfast, I didn’t know we were starting right away,” he says apologetically.
“No worries, I just was eager,” your stomach growls, ”and I totally forgot about breakfast!”
You go out on the balcony to get away from the dust. He brought breakfast wraps and pastries.
“I uh, also thought about how your kitchen will be out of commission for a while and um… thought that maybe you’d like to use mine in the meantime,” he pushes a key across the little bistro table, ”I went and had it made, that’s why I was gone so long.” It has a unicorn printed on it.
“Thank you babe,” you grab the key and hold it to your chest, grinning from ear to ear, “I was gonna just eat cold sandwiches for the next three weeks. This is awesome!” You stand up and throw your arms around him, almost spilling the table over.
“You are so welcome, that’s an open invitation to come over anytime,“ he says with a smile.
When you finish eating, you hand him safety goggles, gloves and a dust mask.
“I hope those are not your favorite clothes, cuz they are gonna get messy,” you nod to his comfy jeans and t-shirt.
“Yeah, these are fine, now what do we do?” he says, muffled behind his mask.
Despite him having zero construction knowledge, you guys get the wall down in less than an hour. He follows directions and listens well. He was excited when he got to use the reciprocating saw. Power tools are sexy.
You keep catching him looking at your ass when you bend over to lift debris into the construction chute you installed off the balcony and into a dumpster below. You keep watching him too, the way his back muscles moved as he swung the sledge was delicious. You are a task master, however, and only allowed 45 minutes for lunch with no fuck breaks, no matter how hot he looks.
By late afternoon, you had all the cabinets out and the carpet and outdated linoleum floor up and out.
You are doing the final sweep with the push broom. You bend over to sweep up the pile and you feel hands on your hips.
“Damn, you are fine Kitten.” he says, running his hands on your round ass. ”I’ve been sneaking peeks at this ass all day”
“Why Mr. Butler, are you trying to seduce me in the middle of work?” you say, faking shock.
“I am, is it working?” he slides his hand over the fabric of your crotch, making you clench and suck in a breath through your teeth.
“It is,” you walk over and tip the dustpan into the chute, “and we are officially done working.” You take your dust mask off, “but I for one, need a shower first,” rubbing the lines from the mask that you know are in your face.
He takes his mask off too, he has identical lines in his face. “I believe we have some unfinished business in the shower.” He says, pulling you close, kissing you.
As his lips press to yours, your hands run over his biceps, reminding you of how they flexed when he was working today. Even though you are tired from the day's labor, you still want him.
“Let’s use my shower, I think it’s bigger. I’ll go get ready, you meet me over there,” he says, kissing your forehead then walking out the door.
You finish up and grab comfy shorts and a t- shirt before heading next door. A neighbor is walking towards you down the hall and watches you walk to Austin's. You wave, they give you a questioning look as you put the key in door.
"Hi, I thoguht you lived in that apartment," they ask.
"Oh yeah, I do, but Austin here is letting me use his shower and kitchen while I'm remodeling mine." You turn the key, yay it worked!
"Oh, yeah I just saw him go in there, was he helping you work too?" they say.
"Um, yeah," you open the door and hear the shower running.
You neighbor looks down at the floor inside the door, and then up at you with a knowing grin.
You look down, Austin's work clothes are piled by the door. You look back at them with a raised eyebrow and a shrug
"Have a good day," you wave at them.
They wave back, "Have fun," they murmur. You close the door with a huge grin on your face.
You strip your clothing off at the front door like he did, not wanting to track construction dust into his apartment.
As you approach the bathroom you hear Austin singing Blue Suede Shoes. When you walk in he stops singing, but you can see him washing his hair in the shower. Even blurred by steam, Austin is one sexy man.
“Come on in,” he opens the door, you step into the large tiled shower. He offers you a can, “Shower beer after a hard days work? Well, it’s cider actually, it was the only thing I had in a can. I figured glass in the shower could be dangerous.”
“Yes please!” you pop the top, clink cans and both take a big swig. It tastes like apples and pears. You look at the can, it’s Kopparberg Pear cider. Yum.
“Here, I already washed,” Austin says as he moves aside and lets you into the stream of water. You down about half the can as the hot water cascades over your body.
Austin’s hands are on your back, thumbs massaging up your spine to your neck. You put your forehead on the cool tile and relax into the feel of his fingers and the water. Once at your neck, he starts taking out your braid. He tilts the shower head away from you to wash your hair, fingertips pressing into your scalp. God it feels good. He rinses and spreads conditioner on your hair.
You smile, thinking of the last time you used conditioner on him. Fuck that was sexy. You take another big drink.
As the conditioner sits, he scrubs the back of your body with a sudsy loofa, even picking up your feet and getting between your toes. You try not to squirm and giggle.
The combination of hot water, empty stomach and 7% alcohol makes you feel tipsy, but in a lovely relaxed way.
Austin rinses the conditioner out of your hair and replaces the showerhead, again pointing away from you. He grabs your hips and pulls you backwards to him. You feel the hardness of his cock against your ass. You set the half empty drink on the ledge next to his almost full one.
You lift both arms and wrap them around his neck, languishing in the feel of his wet naked skin on your back. You feel like some kind of Botticelli painting.
He washes your armpits and down your sides, sudsing up your belly. Soap runs in rivulets down your legs. He drags the loofa across your nipples, making you inhale.
He squeezes soap from the loofa over your front before dropping it to the floor. He starts massaging your breasts in the soap, tweaking your nipples. You can feel the excitement rush from your nipples, dart across your belly and settle behind your pubis.
He slides one hand through the soap on your belly and down to your vulva. The other he slips behind you and down your crack. You step your legs apart a little. His soapy fingers stimulate your asshole as he rubs the surface. Your breath escapes your mouth with an ‘oh’ and you arch back into him, your fingers sketching circles into the hair at the nape of his neck. You feel his cock bounce against you.
Careful not to let any soap get inside you, he rubs his hands up and down on the surface of your crotch, his long fingers meeting in the middle. Your hips move of their own accord, rocking back and forth in his hands. Little sounds of pleasure emanate from your throat.
He grabs the shower head off the holder and rinses away the soap, getting your back side too. He taps your leg with his foot. You step wide, he directs the flow to rinse you off. The hot water streams against you, making you gasp and sigh out an ‘ohh’.
Your fingers curl into a fist, catching his hair. Your other hand slaps down to the side of his thigh, grasping and pulling him tighter into you.
“Mmm, I like hearing your sounds Kitten,” he says low in your ear. Just the sound of him makes you clench, your insides start to saturate.
All soap rinsed away, he puts the shower head back, pointing it to the side. He runs his hands along your wet vulva, pushing his finger between your folds. The other hand on your breast, cupping your nipple in his palm.
He pushes his finger into your wetness making you growl hungrily.
“So wet already,” he murmurs. He trails the wetness up to your clit, tracing circles around it with the pads of his fingers.
Purrs vibrate from your mouth. Your hips start shaking a little and you press your ass back into his cock.
He keeps on teasing your nub as your wordless noises crescendo into verbiage.
“Oh fuck,” you breathe out.
“That’s the plan,” he rumbles behind you.
You lean forward, one hand on the tiled wall in front of you. Reaching through your legs you grasp his cock. Rising up on your tip-toes, you rub his tip against the wetness of your pussy. He angles his hips and pushes, sliding into you.
“Awwww yes” he moans behind you at the same time you rasp out a guttural ‘ungh’.
Grabbing your hips, he moves you back and forth on his shaft.
You love the way he fills you, you are vocalizing long drawn out shaky ‘uhh’s’ each time he pushes into you.
You reach up with one hand and grab the shower wand. The water isn’t quite as hot now. You had better make this fast before the hot water runs out entirely.
You click it to the massage setting and push it onto your vulva, aiming the pulsating stream to your clit.
Your legs start shaking, Oh gods, it feels spectacular. Your hips move faster. He pushes you forward so he has room and starts slamming into you, his fingers digging into your hips. He knows how much you like it when he fucks you hard.
You know he likes it too.
Without much warning, your orgasm spikes through you, internal muscles clenching down hard around him. Your scream starts as an ‘oh’ in your mouth, transcends to a high wail in your nose and ends back down in a throaty shuddering ‘uhhh’ as you tremble on his cock. The water starts to go lukewarm.
“Hah, hah, hah, hah,” Austin keeps up his pace, hammering each explosive sound into your wet and clenching pussy. You drop the wand, bracing yourself with both hands.
He freezes deep in you, inhales then snarls with short jerky thrusts as he spasms into you.
You are both breathless as you pull off him, cum running down your leg. You turn around and lay against him. “Thank you Kitten,” he puffs out, holding your wet body close.
“Uh huh, my pleasure, ” you tilt your head up with a languid smile.
He shakes his head, a little laugh puffing out his nose ,“You sound like you work for CHick-fil-A.”
The idea of conservative Chick-fil-a and fucking in the shower strikes you as so funny right now. The endorphins overtake you and you start giggling uncontrollably, hanging off him shaking.
“Is it that funny?” he says smiling and holding on to you.
“Oh, god, I’m sorry. Now I will never be able to go there and not think of fucking you in the shower everytime they say ‘my pleasure’.” You manage to explain between giggles.
“You are so weird… I love it,” he says laughing only because you are laughing.
“Oh hunny, I’m glad you do, cuz I can only be me,” you smile up at him.
“I just have one question,” he says, kissing your nose, “can it be nap time now?”
You rinse the cum off with the now cold water, shrieking just a little. After drying off you go flop down on his bed. Austin climbs in next to you and puts his arm around you. You curl up on his chest. You both take big contented breaths.
“Sorry about my wet hair,” you mumble.
He is already snoring softly.
