On a lighter, less cranky note, I wonder what kind of "villain fucker" I am
'cause I don't think I line up with anything "typical", admittedly--
#“i can fix him!” ehhh...#“he did nothing wrong!” ehhh...#“he did everything wrong and that's sexy!” ehhh...#though i feel like lots of people would identify me as a “he did nothing wrong!” type just because i am#very much addicted to tragedy with “nobody will let me be anything better so i give up on trying” and redemption#villains with the inherent assumption there's nothing else and nothing better for them#villains that have been battered down and treated as a freak and a monster time and time and time again#to the point they just decide to embrace their assigned role bc clearly everyone was always right about them anyway#and they still do terrible horrible things ofc. they do#but the redemption process is far less about fixing them and more about telling them “hey you have a new option now”#“it's me if you want me”#“and im not going to go away”#and the villain gets to fix themselves and admit what parts of their actions bother them and also that some actions#even ones that seem really really bad#either DONT bother them at all or bother them in a way that is different from the “accepted norm”#and then they still get to be weird and fucked up AND still be loved#bc maybe their brain works a bit differently#maybe parts of their worldview is permanently formed in a “bad” way#because they were born different. because they were taught or raised different.#because their experiences left them with scars. because they're themselves and cant be anyone else.#i've realized it's probably a bit of a perverse cathartic fascination because it heavily relates to my experiences growing up#but also even before i had The Traumas i was still obsessed with villains so...#(im not saying perverse cathartic fascination as a bad thing btw. being perverse is incredibly fun for me)#unrelated to those prev posts im scrolling through friend blog for funsies

Part 1. Part 2
-
Worlds changed, dragons spew fire, flowers burnt and flowers bloomed, children born and doomed. Y/n, Daemon Targeryn’s first born through Lady Rhea Royce. A child he had despised ever since her birth, just an extension for his hatred towards Lady Royce in the first place. He could never stand her, having been forced to his duties he hated her even more. He was never around for the aftermath of anything, the rogue prince who knew no bounds. The child wasn’t even half a year old when he mercilessly put an end to Lady Royce. The ‘accident’ left the child at the kindness of pitiful wet nurses and the castle staff.
King Viserys however couldn’t stand such tragedy over and over, he generally refrained from interfering his brother’s life. He did regret his decision of marrying daemon to someone against his will but he could not have anticipated such a harsh counter reaction via Daemon. Especially after the babe, Viserys thought the child could perhaps soften the coldness of their relations but it only got worse. The king wished to seek some atonement at least for the sake of the child. Y/n, the princess, away at the grasslands of Runestone. He arranged for her to live at the red keep, a motherless child with an absent father would do better within her present family. The King’s children through alicent were mere babies themselves. The maids, the kind Queen herself, would do well to look after the infant. After all the red keep was her house just as much as it was Daemon’s despite his grievance towards it. Her dragon too was well looked after through the keeps instead of Runestone staff. Her dragon was just a hatchling as y/n too was a baby herself.
Alicent, younger at the time. The keep’s staff, mastered in squalling babies and fussy infants. Y/n wasn’t a bother at all. Not that she were to remember but Queen alicent was kinder to her than the fates had been, she nursed her like one of her own. Such fondness and softness towards daughters, it was nice enough. At least for a while. Y/n was six by the time daemon had come for Rhaenyra’s wedding, then off with Laena. No familiarity between the six year old y/n and her father. Too young to understand her family setting and Daemon still rancour.
Daemon had two daughters with the driftmark princess, viserys deemed him capable enough to raise y/n then. He decided to send little y/n back to her father, viserys wanted his brother to accept his daughter. Alicent had a smaller voice at that time yet she tried to reason with her husband to let y/n be at the keep. Daemon had to accept his brother’s whim anyways so he did. Viserys was as relieved as Alicent was anxious that y/n was in Pentos. King made the decision in good faith, if only he put a bit more distrust in daemon than he did trust. Daemon was still the same, y/n, still a child and he did nothing to make her feel included or at home. She learnt to keep to herself how she had seen Haelena do. Still quite young to comprehend where all such distaste came from, all these different people, different land. She longed to call a place home, her memories of the red keep, Alicent, the others it kept fading because she was but a baby back then. Her father wouldn’t teach y/n how to ride on dragon back how he did with her half sisters. But y/n had taught it to herself. Watching she learnt, she didn’t have to be told explicitly what to do. She fell a lot, on her face and back but she learnt anyways.
As years passed nothing changed between y/n and her father, her half sisters were company enough time to time but she was always in their orbit and not as close. All until Driftmark, they lost lady Laena. Y/n was in her early teens and she tried to be there for Baela and Rhaena. She stood by their side through their mother’s funeral. She understood the gravity of such tragedy, she lived with that grief all her life for her mother who was a stranger she never even met. But she mourned her longer than she’d known her.
Reunited with Alicent, gaining a distasteful look from Daemon. “You’ve grown so much” Alicent remarked as she pulled the girl into her embrace. Both of them looked so much different from when they last met each other. The girl had distant memory of the queen but her warmth was nicer than she had known anyone else’s. Despite the occasion alicent was brought some peace of mind seeing Y/n, she didn’t look her best but at least not the worst. She didn’t have to ask y/n to know if Daemon spoke to her, if she felt at home. She reintroduced y/n to her children, some of them y/n didn’t even remember through faces if not for name.
“She was such a small babe.” Helaena commented as she greeted the young girl. It had been years since Helaena had seen her. Aegon and Aemond just stood with disinterest, Aemond trying to mask it otherwise regardless.
After the tragedy that was which followed Laena’s death upon the nightfall of her funeral. Aemond’s eye was taken and it was a rather gruesome unfolding. A night which left a permanent distance between families. A mark which shaped Aemond for years to come.
As the years followed, dragonstone proved to be just as dreary and awfully lonely for y/n. None of her half siblings were her own or ever treated her as such, unsolicited kindness was all she would get here and there and she had accepted surviving it. Thinking of lives far away, a place where life would begin. But it was perhaps never. As King Viserys’s health worsened the queen and hand took matters into their own hands bit by bit.
The queen, declared that it is but the king’s wish for Aemond to be married with y/n, Daemon’s firstborn. Viserys was asked about it, surely, his decision was firm and wearily elated about the marriage so what does it matter who pitched the thought as long as the king agreed. Aemond was agitated. He did not want it, at all. For the ever present and abiding Aemond he had a rift with the thought of marriage to y/n. But he kept his shortcomings to himself.
Even more so mortified was y/n, she didn’t remember how exactly was her childhood at the red keep but she did recall that ever since driftmark, that family would surely not have a soft heart for her. “Father please don’t-please don’t make me do this” she pleaded Daemon.
“It is the King, my brother’s wish.” Daemon said in a disregard of her wish, surprisingly he was fine with his brother’s second hand wish too. Daemon was aware that the Hightower queen and Otto is who pulled all the strings and his brother was a bed ridden king but this was a decision in his favour as long as he could be rid of y/n.
“You cannot marry me off like this!” She exclaimed, for someone who rarely expressed thoughts to daemon. Something she learnt in all those years with being met with cold shoulder all of life, she had to fight for her life as of now. “Not to Aemond, please father please, I do not know any of them-“
“You do. You have spent most of your childhood at the hip of that Hightower queen you will be just fine.” Daemon scoffed with a bit of condescension in his voice. Indifference as he referred to Alicent.
“I do not remember them” y/n tried to reason, any wet nurse could show sympathy to a high born motherless child she did not account to be in a marriage with that sympathy at this stage in her life. “They are complete strangers, father, please I will stay wherever you ask please don’t marry me off!”
“You are of age, y/n. This is a fitting decision for you!” He exclaimed with growing irritation at this conversation, daemon never paid mind to her moreover chose not to and hence he had expected her to show nothing but compliance.
“For me or for you?” She asked with a bitter huff looking away from her father already losing hope in this conversation, she couldn’t stomach this decision without letting him know her repulsion of it. “You are so eager to wash your hands off of me as if I have ever wronged you, all my life, I’ve never asked for anything-“
“Haven’t you?!” Daemon said loudly, his rage visible in his tone “The fact that you exist is asking too much of me as it is. You are an awful reminder and a mistake. I have been subjected to duty and honour and it is only fair if you are too. It is your duty, if not to me then to the King.” With that the door was slammed as the rogue prince walked out, an ironic vision of her life.
A bitter goodbye and an uncertain life with little to no hope y/n was set for the red keep, glancing back at dragonstone for one last time. She didn’t know if she held any homely softness for that place in her heart but she presumed the life which awaited her would be more dreary than the stone.
The wedding was an intimate affair, a small ceremony but still a lot of strangers y/n had never seen. Daemon refrained from attending but it was no surprise. She was met with warmth and affection from her mother in law and her family but not her husband to be, they were all a strange set of people down here in the south from the maids to the king himself who didn’t even sit on the throne yet made decisions.
Even the most beautiful flowers would wither away at the heavy heart of the new bride of new title, the princess. She couldn’t stand her person she was becoming or moreover the mere idea of what she had to be. Aemond wouldn’t even share the same bad as her, almost every night for the first week. He’d rather sleep on the sofa or some nights he’d just never return from wherever he wandered off to.
Barely getting the grasp of it, small domestic solaces just everytime she was with Halena and her mother in law, tending to her niece and nephew. The only time she felt less alone but she was familiar with the loneliness, that wasn’t the problem. It was the nerve wrecking confusion and uncertainty that followed after, eating her alive every night that she would lay. Within strangers now, she felt a stranger to herself too.
Days passed, circumstances arose: the king fell. Aegon was declared the king, a restless unease of an upcoming war. The hand’s very first decision was passing daemon’s seat on the council to y/n. “What?” She asked wide eyed as the hand and queen pitched it to her. “Why, me? I’m not even that learned
” she trailed off.
“You spend most of your time in the library, you happen to have a knack for reading. I’m assuming you can write too?” Otto questioned, if more number of people on the council were his own to mould and speak for the rule would be so much easier.
“Yes but just letters and scrolls..” she trailed off with a sigh, it was rather strange they would approach her for something as important as the council in the first place.
“We need sharp mind of a soft heart on the council.” Alicent said as she caressed her daughter in law’s cheek, with a smile to put some confidence in her. Despite her father’s motives of having y/n on the council, Alicent believed y/n would prove to be rather fruitful and genuine.
“It is also your birthright, through your father’s seat on King Viserys’s council. It is only right if you were to be a part of it.” Otto added in an encouraging manner. The pieces were being set already, as the blacks were processing their own steps.
They had Aemond set to go meet lord Dorros the very next morrow, with a bribe of the crown’s coin and loyalty. The forces set, Aegon’s coronation done. Just one last afternoon council left. Aegon, riding the high of his coronation wasn’t present in this one.
Everyone took their respective seats, it was an eventful morning’s slow afternoon. The coronation was as eventful as it was unpleasant with the beast beneath the boards. Sending out scrolls to other lords, the council discussed it. Y/n didn’t say anything, just listening. Writing out the needed scrolls, Alicent quietly remarked her beautiful hand at the words.
The door slammed open as Aemond entered, he was enraged at his wife’s seat on the council. “Aemond.” Alicent said as the room stiffened.
“What is this?” He asked with as his brows furrowed, he felt very wronged and partially frustrated that his lady wife had a seat on the council above him.
“It’s a meeting.” Otto declared as he looked back from the board back to Aemond, “Not yet done, what is your business here?”
“What is she doing here?” Aemond inquired as he leant over a chair, more belonging in this room than anyone else. Especially his wife, he thought to himself the other members with an awkward look on their face.
“She has a seat extended on the king’s council after her own father, daemon.” Otto filled him in on the subject, visibly disinterested.
“Daemon’s claim on the council died with my father’s death. She holds no such extension.” Aemond reasoned calmly, very much opposed to the irritation rising inside him.
“I’m still a hand to the king aren’t I? Your mother is on the council. Lord Tyland-“ Otto replied back but was interrupted by Aemond midway before he made his point.
“None of them sworn against Aegon. Daemon has called for the pretender hence his seat on this council holds no significance.” Aemond scoffed looking down at his wife who sat, scrolls lay in front of her and a pen in her hand. She felt overwhelmed with such necessary distaste, the hand to the king and queen mother herself asked her to join the council yet Aemond had an issue. It’s not as if she were to act against the interest of the crown or make big decisions to begin with.
“She is the princess. Your lawfully wedded wife, in the eyes of the gods and all the members of this very council and more. Despite Daemon’s treachery and your incoherent jealousy she belongs here.” Otto said breaking Aemond’s mouth, he knew which nerve to exactly hit. Saying Aemond was jealous, of his lady wife’s seat in front of everyone. It was enough to send him seething back and he was right. With a huff as he stared down at y/n, he turned to his heel at left.
Everyone had their accustomed part with a potential war brewing. Aemond had to leave to meet lord borros next morning. Y/n assumed he would be calculating and supposedly busy with his task at hand yet he found time to cause a scene at the council. Y/n knew that nobody on the council saw her as a threat because they all knew of daemon’s indifference for her. The black sheep. In truth she didn’t owe her father any loyalty either so their calculations were correct, her husband however.
She planned to avoid him regardless, spending the rest of the day with the twins, Helaena talking her ear off about her fixated spider and y/n loved that too. Jaehaera was playing with y/n’s hair, adding her toys into it making improper braids. Jahaerys running in circles and hoarding his toys in y/n’s lap as she enjoyed a conversation with their mother.
Alicent walked in, for a moment just taking in the domesticity of the scene. The serenity, the girls laughing. It was rather rare before y/n to see Helaena at peace like this. She entered with a soft knock greeting everyone and she took a seat next to y/n, “Children you must retire your auntie now, it’s rather late!”
“It’s alright mother, it’s not that late.” protested, Haelena she enjoyed y/n’s company as much as the whining children, Jaehaera caged y/n in her tiny arms from her back to not let her go. However through alicent’s hesitant eyes y/n realised she must have some sort of business to discuss.
“Forgive me my loves I am growing a bit tired
but I’m not going anywhere I’d be back soon enough!” She said with a sigh as she kissed the twins goodbye, both of them a bit protestant but let her go eventually. “Good evening, Helaena.” She smiled and bid her goodbye as well and exited with her mother in law.
After they were out in the hallway, secluded of other ears Alicent proceeded “Are you alright?”
“Yes, your grace” y/n replied with a non hesitant nod, in an instant with a smile confused why would that question come up.
“Mother.” She corrected her stopping on her way to turn to face her.
“-Mother.” Y/n said with a soft smile rephrasing her title.
“After
today’s council. You have been avoiding Aemond?” She asked searching for y/n’s dreary eyes.
“No-that is not the case” y/n shook her head trying to formulate a better answer given she hadn’t asked that question to herself. Because in a sense she was avoiding Aemond. “I—“ she breathed “I am rather anxious.”
“Of what? Does he speak to you in an ill manner? Do you wish for me to talk to him?” Alicent inquired concerned for her hesitation of Aemond’s lashing out or whatever it was she was trying to avoid.
“No-no it’s not that
I just feel guilty. He wants an authority, his opinion to be heard at council level and I get that place before him, we’re not at the best terms to begin with and now he must be cross with me” Y/n explained her worry with a sigh.
“And? It is your right, y/n.” Alicent said as she took her hand into hers in an affirming way, “you must never feel guilty for claims that are solely yours.” She explained, “as of Aemond, he can be difficult sometimes, but I assure you he isn’t malevolent. He loves you.”
The Queen mother’s assurance felt it came from a place of gentle constitution and the motherly naĂŻvetĂ© of overlooking some things but y/n was more than aware that Aemond did anything but love her. She was familiar with lack of warmth, affection, just so far from it she could almost find strange ways to dwell in it. It was an emotion she knew for so long, from her father’s house to her husband’s, bricks of her old life and no love.
But she did not tell alicent of her wearies, after all she did not worry about it she was at terms with it. But she was worried meeting Aemond, as of now, she walked the hallway to their shared bedchamber with heavy breaths. Aemond was looking out the giant window, he had a journey to make the next morning to the baratheons yet he wasn’t resting or preparing. Much to y/n’s demise she hoped he’d be off somewhere else. She closed the door behind her as she entered, Aemond never talked to her generally. She never spoke unless spoken to but today silence weighed heavy between the two of them.
“The meeting ran late did it?” Aemond asked without looking back at her, he could tell from the soft stride who entered their chambers.
“No, I was with Helaena
” She trailed off growing strangely anxious because she felt answerable to him. As if it would compensate him and that was her burden to bear. “The meeting was rather trivial”
“Was it now?” He scoffed in a bigger way and turned to face her, “You must have provided the trivial meeting with your other worldly wit and understanding of warfare.”
“Aemond” she said taking in a sharp breath, meaning to tread carefully “I know you are upset. Believe me I did not know beforehand of the planning nor was it offered to me, the hand-queen mother they deemed it as my duty and right and I did not have other choice otherwise I would’ve asked you
”
“Asked me what?” Aemond interrogated crossing his arms as he leant against the stone pillar, her feigning nonchalance and false sympathy irritated him to no end.
“To take my place” she answered. She meant it in a genuine sense because she did not hold the same passion or want for a seat on the King’s council the way Aemond did. It was far from her. “I’d rather you take my place, I have no wish for authority on the council. I could ask the hand to-“
“You truly are the imbecile I presumed you to be.” He said assertively as he stiffened, his shoulders tight. “Are you that naive? Do you think I would need your help to put myself on the council? Yours?” He said as he huffed, berating her was his intention. Y/n remained silent, unmoving in her place no matter however she tried and help him or soften the rift in their marriage he was always imbecile from it. In the meantime he walked a bit closer to her, towering over her given his taller stature he leant forward by a bit to make himself appear intimidating.
“My apologies then.” She muttered lowering her gaze from his because she felt rather scrutinised by him as if she was at fault for something, as if she had wronged him. “Excuse me” she said before he could reply and attempted to retreat away to the adjoint bathroom. Wait out him falling asleep or leaving. The newlywed with their peculiar marriage of indifference.
-
Aemomd’s return from his errand with the Baratheon lord contained of a difficult detour nobody had anticipated. Rather difficult, to navigate such a blow through warfare. The council, y/n merely heard and spoke four sentences on an average, was shocked. No idea of action status not war treading. Circumstance heavy on everyone. Shame and disregard.
Sitting by the burning lamp, late evening, the scrolls and letters were to be written with such urgency after what happened with lucerys y/n had to take it to her own desk. Too busy with the works she barely processed the loss yet, she did not know Lucerys as a brother but an acquaintance who was rather kind to her all those years.
She barely looked up when the door opened, only when Aemond drew closer. Rather too close to her desk, he leant on the table where she was writing. Close to where she was sitting he breathed heavily. Putting the pen down and the scroll aside y/n looked up at him. “What did the king say?”
“The king?” Aemond repeated with a small laugh, he was still getting used to the new titles but referring those even behind closed doors was somewhat strange. “Aegon, he is not the most serious about it. Collateral damage he said.” Aemond repeated the words, he was never fond of the bastard himself but he never planned to take such drastic step. “Grand sire had a lot to say and mother, she is disappointed. Perhaps everyone is disappointed?” He asked emphasising ‘everyone’ referring to her. He did not know of his lady wife’s connection with the Strong boy but his own mother had a dislike for him and yet she was disappointed.
“I don’t know warfare as good as the lot of you, but” she nodded to his previous implication of being disappointed in a way, such loss must be difficult to stomach for those really close. “It is a lot
”
“Do you grieve him?” Aemond asked, his tone non threatening nor interrogative, subtly calm.
Pausing y/n thought about it for a moment, she was quick to side with the hand’s cold and calculative decisions as her mother in law suggested writing Rhaenyra letters instead, y/n herself weighed heavy on practicality as if grief was non existent. In a way it was. “I don’t know” she said puzzled “We were never close but he was kind to me, not all of them and not everytime but whenever he could be
” she trailed off. “He was easily anxious about a lot of things, scared.” Last time she had seen him it was the dinner for King Viserys upon the discussion to heir of driftmark. The scene that followed that dinner was distant in y/n’s mind until now. The same inferior fright was in Luke’s eyes that day.
Aemond did not say anything, her words made him feel guilty even more so but he would never display to anyone. He fought for his life debating to the council, to grandsire that it was an accident however not enough for him to take accountability of it as if he had done something wrong. He knew he had, but he did not show it. He could not. It did not come from a place of sympathy nor altruistic intentions but an ambush of unsolicited guilt. “Is it true?” She asked him.
“What is?” He replied as her voice pulled him out of his thought and his gaze met hers, she still sat on the desk the soft orange hue of the lantern on her face.
“You hold no regret?” She asked him referring to the conversation he had with the council when he was confronted about what happened. He did not owe his truthfulness to anyone, especially not the council.
The heavy silence between the two of them told her more than his words could, her eyes softened as he pondered his unsaid exoneration. Nobody would believe him but she might just, “I did not mean for that to happen, nor did I plan it.”
There was a crack in his demeanour, very different from how he presented himself back in front of everyone else about the the whole ordeal. Accountability seeping in and he should know, “Acting bigger than the situation won’t provide you with the atonement you are looking for.” She told him, forgetting herself when he asked for her advice and she assumed in such delicate state of mind he would rather lash out than listen but he did not. He was present, here to listen. To her? So far he had made it so very clear that he held no regard for her whatsoever.
“I am not looking for atonement.” He said more to himself than to her in a gentle tone and a hint of lostness in his expression. He longed for something, some consolation of some kind but he did not know exactly what and he felt restless with heavy emotions.
“You are.” She answered for the question he did not ask out loud, however the epiphany of it was not lost on him as he looked at her like an open wound. He did not protest her because she was right, she held the answers to herself. She could think for him despite of what he did and it unsettled him in some way because he had never felt such softness of anyone else. To know that he had done something he would have to seek atonement for and
hold regard for him still?
“Do you see me differently then?” He asked, small fright creeping him on the inside if she affirmed his answer.
“No” she replied without hesitation nor enthusiasm, she did see him less ruthless and uncaring than she had previously known him to be but she did not tell him that in this state of mind of his. However the heavy silence and the remorseful tension was too much to bear. She stood up from her chair seemingly to leave and attend some other task, just then realising he stood rather close. Before she could attempt to move away he stopped her. Holding her by her wrist he pulled her close but he was already close enough, the distance shortening this small for the first time since their wedding.
“Do you truly, not see differently?” He asked again with searching eyes. He couldn’t do with her short no however affirming as it was it wasn’t absorbing. It did not feed to his shame and guilt.
Y/n did not know how to soothe his wearies, she never thought her perception would matter to him at all. The walls within their marriage came crumbling down as he held her wrist it seemed, she wasn’t going away yet he kept a hold of her. To ground himself more than her. After staring into his eye for what seemed like an eternity she simply pulled him into her embrace, in a tight embrace. Her arms holding his broad stature the best they could, raising on her toes to bring him as close as she could.
Aemond was stunned to say, for a moment. He could not fathom she would want to tread so gently with him after what he had done he did not expect such, such softness. As he enlaced his arms around her waist, hugging her back as he raised her closer to him. His person. He had never felt such warmth and love of hands that would show soft affection even after knowing his ugly work, he was met with her comfort when he deserved retribution. It nestled his spirit in a serene place, he worried the place would vanish if he let go off her so he didn’t. He kept holding her close to him, closer of it was possible as he buried his face by the crook of her neck.
After a while she pulled away but not entirely, resting her temple against his. His soft breath on her as she sighed closing her eyes. He followed to, until he met her gaze again. His impulse wanted to touch her face to make sure she was real, that this moment was. So he did. Fixing the loose strand of her hair behind her ear he cupped her face. She did not move away, heart racing in such gentle exchange between the two of them. It was a first and he did not want her to extend her boundaries for his sake but he could not stop himself, he brushed his lips against her.
Indulging in a passionate kiss, holding her face in his hands as if she was made of porcelain. It was the first time somebody had held y/n with such fragility. Such affection was very foreign to her all her life, even the kiss on their wedding day felt forced and ceremonial. But this felt real, it was. She kissed him back and held him close, standing in the light of a desk lantern, the moonlight seeping in and lovers who might just be alright.

Just wanted to pitch my two cents in response to the previous anon! Hi friend, I know for a lot of us who get our food shrink wrapped and packaged at the grocery store it’s mind boggling to even imagine there’s a healthy way of animal husbandry.
I grew up in The Big Cityâ„ąïž but was raised by my grandparents. They grew up farming (just crops, their families were too poor to own livestock or purchase meat/milk/eggs) and taught me to have an incredible respect for where food comes from. We grew our own crops in the tiny backyard, composted, and did aquaculture even before I knew what it was. We bought our smaller meat from the local butcher minimally processed. You had to debone and process the whole chicken, fish, rabbit, frogs, etc. Grandpa traded his veggies for different fruits with the other oldies. Grandma made her own wine and yogurt. And I’ve worked and volunteered at animal shelters and wildlife rescue/rehab centers growing up. I still compost nearly all of my food waste. Even then, I didn’t truly understand the extent to which a properly cared for animal farm could be healthy and ethical.
Until I met one of my previous partners that is. They grew up in an incredibly rural area on a family farm that had animals, including a herd of cows for meat. They hunted, but always to protect the livestock and made use of the animals they killed/sold them to others in town who would. It seemed so counterintuitive to my sensibilities and raised my hackles at first. How could you say you love animals and do that? But I began asking questions
for hours and hours because it was nothing I’d been exposed to.
The way they and their family cared for/revered their animals seemed almost religious to me when I first encountered it. From the time they were kids, it was always the animals’ chores first. You woke up but fed and milked the cows before you made yourself breakfast. They made blankets for the animals and read to them. You gave the herd everything they needed and then some. If something in the barn needed fixing, that would happen first before new windows for the house. The animals had their own things and toys and treats. It was love! There were never cattle prods or whips or any of the machinery you associate with industrial farming. The animals would greet them happily every morning. They loved and trusted their people back enough to be naughty a way a pampered cat is. It really sunk in when I stood next to a cow for the first time — there’s nothing that would stop that animal from harming you, especially if you were a kid, unless it respected you and loved you back.
(They once told me the story of how some large predator like a bear or wolf tried to sneak into the pasture at night. The family woke up there next morning to a furry pancake that had been utterly stomped into the ground by the herd.)
A whole lifetime later, they can still remember the names, personalities, and stories of all the animals they raised. I would get bored and try to list off random names as a game to see if they ever had an animal called that, actually. But the thing that initially shocked (and stuck with me the most) was that when they’d take an older cow to the butcher, they would get packages of meat back labeled with that animal’s name. But it wasn’t ever scary or traumatizing for the kids. They always knew where food was from. Sometimes they were even there helping when that animal was born in the barn. What that did was give them an incredible sense of care, respect, and duty for those animals. When they had dinner that night, they would say grace and mean it in a way you only could if you viewed that animal as an equal family member. I was raised religious, but had never heard grace said like that, with that amount of genuine intent until I ate dinner with them. It used to be just something I did, just going through the motions.
That being said, yes it would probably be the most bio energy efficient/less emissions heavy if the whole world shifted away from a meat-based diet. But ideal isn’t always realistic/something we can achieve overnight. Meat alternatives are often expensive or time consuming to prepare (like beans/legumes). The way I see it, this blog is part of a harm reduction approach in facilitating an appreciation/love/education for livestock and then encouraging people to seek out more mindful sources of meat, like some local farms. We’ve seen time and time again, shame/blame are far less effective in getting people to re-examine their worldviews than education and love.

thank you so much for this ask, this is so so so so so lovely!!! i feel like a lot of people that arent farmers or dont have farmers in their family dont really understand just how much love is there.

The whole Eden Lucifer-Adam-Lilith-Eve situation is kinda creepy. I see serious groomer undertones in it, given the difference in Lucifer's and humans' life experience (and to extent, maturity) at the moment
Imagine that you are an adult experienced angel who is present during the making of Eden and the birth of first humans. You also apparently want a wife. And to be a part in creation of Eden. What do you do? Find some female angel to marry and live your life with? Find an actually helpful way of working alongside elder angels?
Nope, instead you meddle with the lives of newborn and inexperienced humans in the most destructive way possible.
You could have helped them sort out their disagreements and actually taught them proper ways to behave. But you don't. You groom the naive female human into trusting you and then you encourage her cheating on the male human, causing trauma and insecurities to corrupt his personality in his first few years of living (the most influential in shaping a person's mentality). Thus you become partly responsible for the vengeful monster he will become in the future
More than that, you take away the female human's chance to live safely in paradise or on earth. Because of aiding you in your not-so-well-thought-out-plan (she didnt have any other choice, you and the male human were the only company she had), she is doomed to be allowed to only live in hell the rest of her life. And you knew that no one in heaven was going to give her the benefit of the doubt
As icing on the cake, you don't stop just on grooming and encouraging cheating, you don't leave the male human alone after you've already did him dirty and abandoned him... you come back and corrupt his new wife for some unclear reason (because your "whimsical" ideas of how you'd do a project elder angels know better how to carry out, are never even elaborated upon).
As a result, you doom not only these three babies in adult bodies but also the entire humanity to a terrifying life of fighting sinful outbursts, suffering, surviving, dying and risking ending up in hell where they'll be suffering for an eternity
I'm not sure if writers will ever hold Lucifer accountable for all this in a proper way. Probably not. But thinking about how much he fucked over first three humans makes me wish more depression on him
At this point, Lilith leaving Lucifer is not surprising. Imagine if after maturing and gaining life experience (and already giving birth to Charlie) she realized how her husband was practically using her. That could be why she left after doing her job of raising Charlie until she became an adult that can survive on her own
(I mean, it could be true if hazbin hotel was good at having the characters live through consequences of their actions and not just making Adam a scapegoat who is supposedly like Stella v 2.0 - evil ever since he was born and already inventing patriarchy with his very first breath. Like, all humans are selfish jerks when they are newborn - that's what parenting is for, shaping something more pleasant out of all that selfishness) (notice how the writing only focuses on how Adam was "bad" back in Eden)
(That also gives me a reason to judge angels in general - just a few narrative details really show how little they cared about the first humans' wellbeing and future. It's their fault too that Lilith ended up in hell and had to make some sort of deal to get a chance to visit her home/ Adam became an immature mentally unstable murderer/ and Eve... dunno, we haven't seen her yet)

This makes me incredibly angry.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ID: Screenshots of a Facebook post from user Advocatus Peregrini, which reads:
I was conversing with a fully-grown adult a few days ago, born and educated in the USA, who let this little gem drop:
"Well, it's like Shakespeare said, "Love conquers all!""
I pointed out that Shakespeare never said that, Virgil did, (Eclogues X) and Chaucer after him (Canterbury Tales.)
She said, "Oh I'm sure Shakespeare said that. In Romeo and Juliet!"
I sighed. I've been in that play several times, in different roles, and even directed it. That text does not occur in it.
But the real grind-my-teeth moment here was that if Romeo and Juliet can be said to have a message, it is most certainly not "Love conquers all," seeing as the lovers die by their own hands with a trail of their friends and relations' corpses in their wake.
Neither this fact, nor the fact that I knew the play, nor my explanation that Virgil and Chaucer used the phrase long before Shakespeare's birth dented her determination that "Love conquers all" came from Shakespeare.
"You don't know ALL the versions!" she protested.
All the versions?
Alternative Bard?
With every instinct screaming at me to let the matter drop, warning me that some horror that will not soon be absent from my nightmares waited around the next corner of this conversation. I pressed on.
It was a decision I was soon to regret.
I asked when she had first read "Romeo and Juliet." She said she had only read it once, when she was in Junior High. In the version she was taught, Romeo and Juliet survive, are reconciled with their parents, and are married in the church with their friends Mercutio and Tybalt arm in arm in the wedding party.
"Help me into some house, Benvolio, or I shall faint."
It turned out that her school had their own "version" of Romeo and Juliet, with an "uplifting" ending. This was printed and distributed by a religious education publisher. And it was the only version of the story that she had ever read. Of course she had HEARD other people say that the story was a tragedy, but she just assumed they were wrong.
And she did not see why MY version of Shakespeare should be considered better than HER Shakespeare, which, after all, had a much more wholesome ending.
I explained, in vain, that "my" version is definitive because Shakespeare actually wrote it (quiet, you Oxfordians. Don't make me stop this car) and the message of the play - that when adult stubbornness meets youthful impulsiveness tragedy ensues - is lost in the ersatz, happy-clappy ending.
She said the ending that had been Frankensteined onto Shakespeare's play by the "Christian Education" publisher was better than the original ending, "if the ending is as sad as you say it is."
At this point, I concluded that this was a person who deserved to go through the rest of her life "...safest in shame! being fool'd, by foolery thrive!" I bid her adieu.
After the conversation, I wondered, darkly, if that was to be the fate of Shakespeare, and all other literature if the happy-clappy people get their way - as harmless and "uplifiting" as a cheerleader's chant.
I wondered what these bowdlerizers would do with "Hamlet?" or worse, "Titus Andronicus" or "MacB-" Nothing wholesome, I'm sure. Oh, that's right, what they can't appropriate, they ban. Or burn.
In trying to protect children, we leave them undefended from "...the slings and arrows" that life will no doubt throw their way. Shakespeare raises the issues of tragedy - the fatal flaw, the last turning, the role of fate, as well or better than any author before or since. He is a gentle tutor, much to be preferred over that stern and dangerous teacher, Experientia Inopinatum.
But, as ever, it really isn't about the children. It's about the adults, and their desire to avoid answering difficult questions from agile young minds, who know no fear and swarm like eager flies around questions that have been boggling our best minds for millenia. To answer the questions that literature raises, you have to have thought deeply about them yourself. And that is something that few dare to do.]  end id

MomBroDad?
Demon (sneering): How about you go run to your mom, loser!
Satan: Well, I don’t have a mom. I was born from my brother!
Demon (confused): What

Satan (smirking): Yeah, got nothing to say now, right?!
Demon (bewildered): Dude, what even are you then?
Satan (defensive): W-what do you mean? I’m a demon.
Demon: Yeah, but even demons are born from their moms. I’ve never heard of being born from a dude, let alone your brother.
Satan (uncertain): I don’t know
 life is different for everyone.
Demon: I guess, but doesn’t that make him your mom, dad, and brother? He’s like your mombrodad.
It finally hits Satan how weird his creation is.
Satan (shaken): Excuse me, I have to go.
Satan barges into the House of Lamentation, looking distressed.
Satan: What are you?
Lucifer (raising an eyebrow): What?
Satan: What are you to me?!
Lucifer (concerned): Satan, is something wrong?
Satan: Just answer the question.
Lucifer (calmly): I’m your brother, why?
Satan (upset): Because if I was born from you, then you are my parent.
Asmodeus: Ohhh, this conversation is finally happening.
Leviathan (surprised): I really wasn’t expecting this today.
Asmodeus (grinning): Right? This is the drama I need right now. I’m gonna get a snack. Call me if anything juicy happens.
Lucifer: It’s complicated if you think of it that way.
Satan: How is it complicated?! I was born from you, right? So, then you are technically my mother/father.
Lucifer: If you choose to think of it that way, yes.
The rest of the brothers come to watch.
Mammon: What’s going on?
Leviathan (whispering): Satan is having a mid-life crisis.
Satan: So, if I think of it that way, then my “brothers” are technically also my uncles.
Belphegor (stunned): Holy shit, I didn’t think of that

Beelzebub (shocked): Neither did I.
Asmodeus (giggling): Omg, I have a nephew!
Lucifer (trying to explain): No, Satan, well
if you want to think that way.
Satan (overwhelmed): What, I need to process this
Why did you make me call everyone my brothers then?
Lucifer (softly): To help you fit in more. And it’s not like I raised you from infancy to adulthood, so I wouldn’t consider myself a parent.
Mammon: If I can say something—
Lucifer (firmly): No.
Mammon: Well, I’m going to anyway. Even if you didn’t raise Satan from being a baby to now, you did technically raise him, even if it wasn’t conventional. He was in you; he was taught everything from your eyes.
Belphegor: Okay, but if he’s from Lucifer’s anger and was just dormant in him this whole time, wouldn’t he just be a different version of Lucifer, not his child?
Leviathan (nodding): Yeah, kinda like a Lucifer 2.0.
Asmodeus (concerned): Satan, you okay?
Satan: So, I’m not my own person

Lucifer (gently): You are your own person, Satan.
Satan (teary-eyed): I’m gonna go to my room.
Leviathan (regretful): Maybe we should have just not mentioned the Lucifer part.
Asmodeus (sighing): Ya think?!
Later that day, Lucifer knocks on Satan’s door.
Lucifer (softly): Satan, can we talk?
Satan (muffled): I’m fine, just go away.
Lucifer (reassuring): We aren’t the same person, Satan. Yes, you are a part of me, but you have your own personality, looks, likes, and dislikes.
Satan (opening the door, eyes red from crying): That’s not the point. I’m still you.
Lucifer (sincerely): Even if you’re just an extension of me, you are a better me.
Satan: How?
Lucifer (smiling softly): You don’t let others control what you do. You don’t let pride control you either. And though you were built from my anger, and that makes you short-tempered, you’ve grown to show how much you can control it. So yes, you are a better me. But you are also your own person.
Satan (sniffling): Thanks, Lucifer.
Lucifer (gently): It’s no problem at all. You know who you are. Don’t let yourself think otherwise.
Satan (closing his door, softly): Goodnight.
Lucifer (trying to walk away, softly): Goodnight.
(This is made from questions I have about Satan’s existence and how confused me, and he are😭. I don’t know if anything I say is canon at all, I’m also not sure if I wrote Satan correctly. But hopefully, you enjoyed it.)

"Good girl"
Tumblr media
◇ Pairing: Dark!Thomas Shelby X fem!reader
◇ Warnings: slightly smut, age gap, kind of cheating?, angst, fluff
◇ Summary: You want to be a good wife for your husband, John Shelby, and Thomas is willing to help you.
◇ Note: Sorry for the mistakes and the English. Still trying to figure out how to write Tommy in a more Tommy way. Let me know what you think! 🍓
Tumblr media
"You know what I mean" Tommy sighed, rubbing his temples stressed because of the hard day he had
"Before the arranged marriage" He added, looking at you with his cold blue eyes.
"There must have been suitors waiting to marry you, hon" Tommy said softly, sounding almost curious in tone.
He knew that you were married to his own brother, John Shelby— he himself was the cause of that arranged marriage of a couple of months ago— but he was still curious, there was something in you, maybe the mature mind inside of a young lovely woman's body, that attracted him.
"Not really, no" you replied in a soft tone, pausing a moment to give a further explanation when you saw Tommy's eyebrows raise slightly in curiosity but he was faster
"No suitors waiting to propose?" Thomas asked sounding almost incredulous at this.
"I find that hard to believe, especially when looking at a pretty face such as yours."
He was still looking straight at you, almost appraising you.
"There had to have been at least one young man who fell in love with you, right?" He insisted, blowing out the smoke of his cigarette from his nostrils.
You sat better on the sofa, holding the sleepy form of Charlie on your chest as you replied with embarrassment
"Men want brainless women, sir. If love is to want their body and not their soul then I had plenty of suitors but if love is wanting the soul and the body then I was alone" you whispered, catching him off guard.
"A poetic young woman." Tommy said softly, as he looked at you with interest.
The maid behind the door seemed a little shocked at the conversation not that you knew or cared.
"You know, miss, there are many women who would kill to marry a me, get my attention or touch, just for your information." Tommy said, his tone slightly playful but his face serious "They'd be waiting in line, hoping to be noticed by me"
He let out a long sigh, and smiled softly.
"But it's clear to me now that those women would have been a waste of my time." He added, his baby blue eyes now staring at you in an almost dark way, you bit your bottom lip confused making something dark snap into him.
"And why are you not one of those women?" Tommy asked, after a small pause, with a sly smile. He really expected to see a glimpse of interest or lust in your eyes as soon as you sat on that sofa.
"You're not blind, of course. You know I'm a rich, handsome man, I'm a war veteran, a gangster, a businessman. Most women would be fighting one another for a slice of me."
He murmured leaning back into the sofa as he turned his body further towards you
"Yet here you are, not showing me the least bit of interest. Why is that?"
You were honestly a bit taken aback by his statement— you weren't blind for sure, Tommy was an handsome and charismatic man but you were married to his young brother and you momma taught you to be loyal.
You blushed softly, caressing softly Charlie's brunette hair as you thought of a reply
"I think...because of respect, sir" you paused a moment adding "and personality".
His cold eyes and dominant aura was making you feel a bit helpless.
"Respect?" Tommy stared at you, his tone serious "You respect me, miss?"
He studies your expression before continuing to speak
"A woman can respect a man, miss, whilst also seeing him as a man. Just as I respect you for your intelligence and courage, I also see you as a beautiful woman who, in different circumstances, I would not hesitate to express my admiration for."
Your eyes widen softly as you stared at him speechless, a soft blush of shame covered your cheeks.
You were born in a strict and pretty religious family so you honestly had no idea about this kind of things, sadly, your own husband John told you so— not with words but rather with his eyes.
"I'm afraid I don't know how" you whispered in a soft voice, ashamed to admit it out loud.
"Don't know how to... see a man as a man?" Tommy asked, his tone more serious again
"Or you don't know how to show affection, miss?" He added, looking statight at you.
He seemed genuinely curious to hear what you had to say about this.
"You seem to have no trouble showing affection to Charlie." He added, as an observation, his cold eyes on you.
He was right, you knew how to show affection, you just lucked of experience in romantic affection.
You never had this kind of conversation with anyone before, it was rather interesting for your naive mind and after hearing for most of your life, rumors about the infamous Thomas Shelby you know for sure that he could help you with this— so you followed the wind with open arms, without shame.
"Is the same love I show Charlie the one that I should show my husband?" You asked curiously, stroking in a motherly way the soft baby hair of Charlie
"No." Tommy answered, his tone firm and decisive
"The love you have for Charlie is maternal. You look after him, you care for him. You love him as a child."
He paused
"The love you have for a husband is very different, miss" Tommy explained, his voice soft.
"The love you have for your husband is... tender, passionate." He murmured softly, his icy gaze becoming dark and even more full of lust
"I think you know the difference, miss— You just need to learn to show it." He added, his voice low sending a weird shiver through your spine.
"That is what marriage is, darlin—" Tommy sayid, his voice soft and smooth, the smoke of his cigarette escaping his mouth
"—Learning to show romance to your husband, learning to love him passionately."
You were confused but determined, you joined the Shelby family not so much time ago but you were now focused to be the perfect wife for your husband— so you nodded, eagerly, ready to please and learn.
"Shall I show you?" Tommy asked softly, breaking the silent that had been established
"Shall I teach you how to please a man?" He asked, looking back at you with a sly smile.
"How to be a wife, honey. Can I teach you how to do that?"
You honestly had a bad feeling, a lot of questions kept running around your head but you trusted Thomas, he was your brother-in-law.
Tommy seemed pleased at your answer, which surprised you a bit
"Good girl." He said, his voice soft again. He paused a moment, getting closer to you to put his hand on your leg, his voice quiet when he spoke again
"A woman like you should also learn how to give a man a treat every now and then"
Your eyes remained focused on him as he gave your leg a slight squeeze.

a/n: if ur js finding this fic, this is the bonus! the fives times r does walk away are here. this happens right after no.5, btw.
6. A lie is the truth
Arlington, Virginia, 2008
You couldn't sleep.
All you could think of was the fact that you were in Aaron's bed and he was right outside the door. The thunder continued to boom but your thoughts were louder than the storm outside; they consumed you.
It was irrational. You'd known him for nearly five years, and in that time, you'd only seen him an equivalent of five times, yet he was still on your mind. He'd been on your mind non-stop since New York—and that was crazy.
You felt crazy.
You felt crazy because he was right. You felt something.
It all started off as a game. You just wanted to get under his skin, play with fire a bit, but you got burned. You couldn't handle the heat; you couldn't handle the way the game stopped being a game. It became something else.
Hotch's role was to get irritated, maybe a bit flustered, but he was never supposed to flirt back. He was never supposed to want to know you— you couldn't even remember the last time anyone wanted to do that.
Lovers came and went over the years, but none had ever felt like this. It was always physical, but you and Aaron hadn't even kissed. Without any of that, he still had you in his grip.
You couldn't remember the last time you'd been with anybody. You don't know if you'd been holding off on purpose, if it was conscious. You'd been holding out for a guy you couldn't even be with, and now that you had the chance, you were the one holding back.
God, if he knew you before. If you'd met before, things would've been so different. Maybe he could've saved you from yourself.
But he didn't. When you were drowning, you pulled yourself out of the water. That old version of you died, and Y/N was born. Y/N was the one who saved you. When you had no one else, Y/N was there. She was your shoulder to cry on until she taught you not to cry anymore, to focus.
But now what did you have? An apartment you barely lived in and nobody that really knew you. But there was a man out there, a good man, who said he wanted to.
You didn't know what you'd show him—you weren't even sure if you really knew you.
But maybe... maybe you could find out together.
You'd never know if you didn't try.
With that thought, you threw the covers back and beelined for the door. When you opened it, you were surprised to find Aaron already behind the threshold, fist raised to knock. In an instant, he dropped it.
"Y/N—"
You cut him off. "Wait, just— just let me get this out." He looked confused. "If I don't get it out, I don't think I ever will."
There was a beat of silence, but then he spoke. "Okay."
His eyes were kind and patient as you tried to gather the words, everything you wanted to say vanishing from your fingertips. So you went with the first thing that popped into your mind. "My name is Lorelai." Surprise shone on his face, but you paid it little mind, racing to say everything before you lost the courage. "But people used to call me Lai. It was a play on words, because I was a liar. I lied about a lot of things. I got involved with the wrong kinds of people, got my hands on the wrong types of things, I was—" you swallowed. "I was an addict. And my life was gonna go down the drain, but things changed. Then I got on the government radar, and suddenly I wasn't Lai anymore, but I was still a liar; the difference was just that I was a better liar. More powerful. Now I'm Y/N. And that name changed everything for me. That is what is in a name. Everything."
By the time you finished, you were breathing heavy. You averted your eyes as a chuckle left you. "So, tell me, Aaron, do you still want to know me?"
You were expecting him to leave, to end it there and tell you he'd drive you home tomorrow, but instead, you felt sudden warmth on your cheeks as his hands wiped away tears you didn't know were there. "Look at me." When you didn't respond, he tried again, "Y/N. Look at me."
You looked up, expecting to see judgement and hatred, anger, but you saw none of that. You saw openness and understanding, and other emotions you couldn't pinpoint. You realized you couldn't decipher it because no one had ever looked at you this way.
His voice was soft and firm all at the same time. "Y/N, I don't care what your name is. I don't care if a lie is the truth— I care about you." He paused as if he wanted his words to soak in, but not once did he look away. "I want to know you, whether that be about Lorelai or Y/N doesn't matter. This woman in front of me right now, she is who I want to know."
Your heart beat rapidly against your ribcage as he leaned in closer. Déjà vu from your moment in the kitchen hit you hard, your eyes going back to his lips, the same lips that just uttered that he didn't care, the same lips that just washed away your fears.
He closed his eyes and then pleaded, "Let me know you, Y/N."
That shattered any last semblance of doubt you had left, and you barely had time to think about it before you were slamming your lips into his.
He reciprocated immediately, kissing you with the fervour of a man who'd been suffocated and you were his air. A sensation you couldn't name erupted all over your body, from your head to your toes, and you wondered how you had lived so long without ever feeling this. Of all the kisses you'd ever had, none could compare to this one.
But this didn't just feel like a kiss. It felt like a promise.
Your lips moved in sync together, just like when you'd been dancing that night in Washington. It was like your body knew all the steps to this dance without ever having learned it.
So now you wondered, if this was supposed to be wrong, why did it feel more right than anything you'd ever done?
Eventually, you had to pull away. His eyes were still closed. You grinned. "How about you get to know me tomorrow night at dinner?"
That caused his eyes to open, a full-fledged smile making its way onto his face, and you knew then and there that you'd do anything to make him smile like that all the time. "8 o'clock?"
You nodded and agreed, "It's a date."
His smile got wider, and then he ducked his head into the crook of your neck where it fit perfectly. You wrapped your arms around his neck, recalling how he tensed the last time you did so. Now he had a different reaction, pressing his lips against your neck and littering kisses everywhere.
Tomorrow, you had a date at 8'oclock. But as Aaron kicked the door closed, you wondered if you'd make it out of bed to get there.
You supposed you could miss one date.
You had a feeling there would be many more to make up for it.

random thought but one of my fav things while watching korean idol variety shows is when idols call their mothers or grandmothers when making traditional food/snacks (i see this most when they’re making kimchi) and idk,, it’s a very tender and warm sight. the way their tone changes into something more familiar and lighthearted when their family member picks up the call and the way their family members are so readily available to help them. it’s those rare moments of familial love and sincerity that stick with me.
#ok so maybe the next few tags are going to be a bit heavy and im sorry for doing this on such a sweet post#first off i like this but in a way that's kind of tainted. tainted with the wondering of what could've been#my mom tells this story a lot. how she learnt to cook her mother's dishes. the chicken wings the curry and the eggplant#how to wrap dumplings even#she learnt by sneaking into the kitchen and watching her prepare the food. she wasn't allowed to watch. she had to hide it#i can say this a thousand times over really because she repeats this so much#'my mother never taught me how to cook.'#she was the daughter = she couldn't come home. it was never her home because she was a woman#and in chinese culture as you already know marry out means marry out. you're no longer part of the family#i was born allowed into the kitchen because of what my mother experienced. because she lived like that i learnt to cook from a young age#but on her behalf i harbour a frustration and sorrow that comes with watching family members cook together.#especially 'mothers or grandmothers'#because when i was little my grandmother actually offered to raise me once#I don't know#maybe as a replacement daughter or smth#but my mother was so angry about that#i was not supposed to be loved by my grandmother. i was supposed to be on my mother's side. i was not allowed to have what i was given.#my mother learnt to cook the recipes her mother cooks by watching and stealing as if she were a thief and i am invited in but cannot go.#I don't know this makes me feel complicated. in the first place my other grandmother can't even cook#is it the sorrow of never having relations outside of the souring ones around me to depend on? never having a second home to run to when the#first one felt stifling? is it the anger at what i could not have? is it jealousy at the empty ache of seeing someone lavished in love -#love that transcends years?#i do not have much experience with death or the elderly and this is something i feel wholeheartedly when i see moments like this#like there is some part of the human experience i lack#i only saw death once. a flat nearby my old home where someone jumped to their death#i think that was when i first started thinking about suicide seriously? like wondering about the concept#death and growing old is so foreign to me#how do you cope with knowing that there is someone who loves you because you are both their own and so different from their own#and knowing that you will one day lose them?#how do you cope with having elderly by you?

Hello! I'm a 15-year-old devotee of both Lord Hermes and Lady Aphrodite who is raised in an extremely Orthodox Christian household, and I would like to share my story with you ⋆˚ʚɞ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi! for safety reasons I will not use the name I usually use online for this account, but you can call me Jellyfish. I live in Eastern Europe, more exactly Romania, a country whose population is 98% devoted to Christianity at the time of speaking. My mother is a perfect example. She wholeheartedly believes in God, I grew up with pictures of him and the Holy Mary all over the walls, which I wouldn't escape even at my grandparent's houses. My house always smelled of myrrh, I would carry a picture of God everywhere I went, I would pray to him before bed, go to church on every holiday, but I never felt fulfilled or connected to him in any way. I didn't truly know what I believed in. My mother was telling me all about how should I praise God, but I don't think I ever did it because I wanted to or felt connected to what she was telling me or felt like it was the life I wanted to live. When she would fight with my father, even now, she would threaten that she would run away to a monastery and become a nun. She thinks you cannot change your religion and you can not be Christian if you were born with Christian parents and raised in that environment. I did not have faith in God because I wanted to and felt connected to his message and wanted to worship his divine being, I did it because my mother felt that way. And that destroyed me.
As I grew older, I started believing less and less in God. I was struggling with going through teenagehood, fighting my own inner battles, and dealing with friendship that slowly felt like they were taking away my lifespan, and it wasn't just that I didn't have faith in a divine being (which is completely alright. Please do not believe this monologue is Anti-Christian, I believe everyone is allowed to believe and worship the one who they feel most connected and inclined towards.) I didn't have faith in anything anymore. When my brother reached 15, he hated my parents for their beliefs. I will not get much I detail since his story is not mine to tell, but he had battled with alcohol and substance abuse. And I was his only shoulder for him and my parents to lean and cry on. My mother told me to pray for our family, she would pray to god every day, light up myrrh, take me to churches, and I would feel miserable. I felt like an imposter in that church. I truly wanted to have faith in a god, anyone, but I felt like my only choice was God since that's what my mother taught me. Both my parents trust God so I cannot be different, can I?
How foolish I was. I can only look back to my past self and wish to embrace and hold her till she cries all her sorrow out. She was so confused.
Back in 2022, I had first heard of Aphrodite. My brother was sent to a mental hospital for his substance abuse when they caught him on the verge of overdosing. I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder after a suicide attempt, autism and ADHD, but my father (who already couldn't accept the fact that my brother has ADHD) fought with them saying they ,,don't know me well enough" and,,there's nothing wrong with me". And he's right, there's nothing wrong with me. Not even If I am neurodivergent. I was at my lowest, I felt disgusting, I fought with my parents and was their therapist every single day, I stopped going to school, I was a mess. But, I was heavily active on social media because I had tons of online friends. While scrolling on tiktok, I found a video of an Aphrodite devotee. My interest was piqued. I heard about Greek Mythology before but never actually researched it. I liked the video and commented, talking about how gorgeous their faith sounds, and that's when it all started. I started getting more info about Aphrodite, the swans swum by me every time I would go to the lake with my family so we could ,,get some fresh air". I started getting lots of pins on Pinterest with her. I always had a desire for water and the beach was my safe place, where I felt fulfilled and free from all I'm feeling. I had a Dove make itself a nest on a tree next to the window of my classroom which I would always sit by while having lunch (on the rare occasions I would drop by to school). I started researching more about Lady Aphrodite, loving her story, beliefs, ways of worshipping, how it felt like silence was washing over me when I would make a non-physical offering to her. Her tales. The way it felt like she was always there to give me a warm hug and squeeze me while I was crying. I also felt a boost in my confidence! I started loving my features, taking care of myself again, etc. It wasn't always just sun and rainbows, I would still have breakdowns and wish it would all just end and all that, but it was more bearable with her. She made my life more bearable. I love, worship, and adore Lady Aphrodite for that. I worshipped her till this year when I officially felt strong enough to devote myself to her.
This year, actually, I started noticing my strong connection to Hermes. I was always attracted to the kind-hearted, mischievous, kind-hearted, highly intelligent and funny thieves. I always idolized them and wished to be like them. That's how I feel about Lord Hermes. I feel like he was reaching out to me all my life. Everything he is associated with I had an inexplicable obsession with for pretty much all my life. Turtles, golden or silver, travel, learning new languages, astronomy, astrology, everything you could think of. I have been devoted to him since last month, that's when I officially started labeling myself as a Hellenic Pagan, but I am still a beginner, and I need to hide all of this from my mother since I am afraid of what she would do if she were to find out I have another belief since she reacted super badly back when I was an atheist :( I set up the first altar for Lady Aphrodite, and the second one for Lord Hermes. I always had been an artistic soul and loved making my room all pretty randomly so I told my mother this is one of those cases and she believed it. She does not know english and is not at all cultured about any beliefs besides Christians, Muslims, and Jews. They are both hidden in my closet. I feel very bad for not being able to make them a bigger and more obvious altar, I hope I'll have that chance when I move out from my parent's house..
I wanted to ask if Lord Hermes would be mad if my mom kept setting random things on his altar? she even put a picture of the Holy Mary. I moved it to the other side of the closet and made a DIY necklace for him out of orange garnet or beads to apologize to him, and he didn't seem mad, but I'm not sure...I sketched drawings of both of them and rested them on their altars. Everything you see are either offerings I heard they may like or things that reminded me of them! the little notebook on Hermes's altar is specifically made for learning new languages and thought he would enjoy it. Do you guys think any of my offerings are disrespectful? or should be removed? I'm open to any advice! Thank you for listening to my story <3

the conscious and the unconscious
we all manifest from the day we are born. the only difference is that when we are younger, we unconsciously manifest things into fruition, unaware that we are doing so. but how can we create our life consciously?
unconscious creation
this is where we are not aware that we are manifesting simply because we don't know anything about manifestations, or we don't believe that things we constantly think about and that come out of our mouths manifest at some point.
sometimes, we manifest good things unconsciously; perhaps we believe in something that will come and feel good about it. but mostly, when we have not had a good childhood or environment, and negative people surrounded us, we had no choice as a child but to absorb all those negative energies and narratives. we eventually act like them even though we don't want to grow up like them. negative situations become familiar to us to the point that favorable conditions are unlikely to occur.
most of the people we are surrounded by as children have this "victim mentality." they believe that life happens TO them, not that life happens FOR THEM. they have a negative outlook on life, and other people, as though the world is against them. they feel helpless and desire to be in control because they believe that bad things will persist. guess what? that kind of mentality will continue and manifest until they change their way of thinking, their thoughts, and their beliefs.
"until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and call it fate." ♱ carl jung
but we don't have to blame those who taught us a negative way of thinking; perhaps it is our parents, siblings, relatives, or friends. they only teach us what they know; they are not aware. would they teach us something like the law of assumption, the law of attraction, spirituality, or self-love if they knew it?
no, they are not aware, and they are probably raised in a similar manner by their parents; additionally, trauma and circumstances in life shape how we perceive the world.
conscious creation
this is where we become aware that our dominant thoughts and feelings create our reality. we start to become aware of our thoughts and beliefs. at first, it will feel very uncomfortable because it is hard to believe that we create our own reality, especially when we come from a hostile environment for years, perhaps most of our childhood. but this is the point at which we do inner work because we want to unlearn those negative experiences and limiting beliefs from our childhood.
how do we turn the unconscious into the conscious?
1. awareness
you would not be here reading this if you were not aware, so good job on that. awareness is about recognizing that we are separate from our thoughts; we simply observe them as they interact. it is about reflecting on whether a thought serves us better or not. if we are aware of our trauma and limiting beliefs, we will likely engage in healing to unlearn them. it is always our responsibility to heal.
2. change the negative narratives
create narratives that are just as true as the negative ones. if you think about it, "i need to work hard to survive" and "i don't have to work hard to survive" are both equally valid. sometimes, changing our sentences, our narratives, and how we talk to ourselves in our minds can alter how we perceive our reality and our feelings.
3. state of being > new personality > new personal reality
i learned this concept from dr. joe dispenza, which is quite easy to understand. the state of being is our dominant thoughts and feelings. now, transform those thoughts and feelings into the vibration you want to become. what would your higher self do? what do they think? if we are aware and practice this over time, it will eventually become our new personality. and if there is a change inside us, there will be a new personality, a new approach to life, leading to a new personal reality. the key is to become unfamiliar with it. a change is necessary to occur internally, and everything else will follow.
"you can have more than you have because you can become more than you are. unless you change how you are, you will always have what you have." ♱ jim rohn

Chapter 2: Into the Wild
For years, they lived in secret.
Before the night of the escape he managed to find an abandoned base deep in the uncharted forests of Pandora, far from the eyes of the RDA or the Na’vi tribes. He raised (y/n) as his daughter, and though she had been born in a lab, she grew up in the wild beauty of Pandora. Her early years were filled with the sounds of the forest, the glow of the bioluminescent plants, and the deep connection to the world around her.
To (y/n) Callen was the only parent she had ever known. He taught her how to live off the land, how to navigate the forest, and about the Na’vi—her people. Despite the peaceful life they had carved out, Callen always knew it couldn’t last. The RDA would come at any moment and find her. He had tried over the years to find Jake sully, He was a legend among those who sympathized with the Na’vi, a figure of hope for those who had turned their backs on the RDA’s brutal ways. But finding him would be another challenge altogether.
But until then, he cherished every moment with (y/n). He loved her as his own, unaware of the storm that was quietly building on the horizon. One afternoon, as the forest basked in the warm glow of Pandora’s twin suns, (y/n) crouched beside the edge of a small stream, her glowing eyes focused on a group of hexapede footprints. Callen stood a short distance away, watching her intently, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips.
“You’re getting better at tracking,” he said, his voice filled with pride, though his words were slightly muffled through the mask.
She looked up at him, her tail flicking slightly as she smiled. “I had a good teacher,” she replied. She was already taller than him, her blue skin gleaming in the sunlight, but there was still an innocent excitement in her tone that made her seem younger than she was.
Callen walked over to her, kneeling down beside the tracks. He adjusted his mask, ensuring it fit securely over his nose and mouth as it hissed, pumping in breathable air. Life on Pandora had its limits for him—while (y/n) could run freely through the lush forests, breathing in the planet’s rich atmosphere, Callen could never go anywhere without the constant hiss of his exopack supplying him with oxygen.
Callen walked over to her, kneeling down beside the tracks. He gestured at the imprint in the soft dirt. “Notice anything unusual?”
(y/n) frowned in concentration. “They’re deeper than usual. Maybe it’s carrying something?” She traced the edges of the footprint with her fingers, feeling the indentations. “It’s fresh, too. Only a few hours old.”
“Exactly,” Callen confirmed with a nod. “That means we’re close. Do you remember what I taught you about hexapedes?”
“They can sense disturbances in the environment from far away. We have to move quietly if we want to get close enough.”
“Good.” He stood, brushing dirt from his hands. “You’re learning”
(y/n) beamed at his praise, but then her expression softened, a hint of curiosity in her eyes. “Father
why don’t we ever see other people?” she asked, her voice hesitant. “You’ve told me about the Na’vi, about the humans who came here. But we’ve never met anyone.”
Callen’s face tightened for a brief moment, but he forced a smile. “It’s safer this way,” he said softly. “Out here, we can live in peace. The world beyond these trees is
 complicated, dangerous.”
(y/n) tilted her head, studying him. “But you told me about Jake Sully, about the Na’vi. Aren’t they good?”
Callen sighed, sitting down on a nearby rock. He knew this day would come, when the questions would start to surface. “Yes, Jake Sully is good,” he admitted, “and so are many of the Na’vi. But the humans—the ones I used to work for—they want to hurt them, control them. You’re different, (y/n).”
“Why?” Her voice was quiet now, a mix of fear and confusion.
“Because-“
A distant rumble interrupted him, low at first but growing louder, a mechanical hum that didn’t belong in the peaceful forest. Callen froze, his eyes widening in alarm.
(y/n) perked up, her ears twitching. “What’s that?” she asked, her eyes darting around the trees.
Callen’s heart sank. He recognized the sound—the unmistakable roar of engines, far too large to belong to anything native to Pandora. He stood up abruptly, grabbing (y/n)’s arm. “We need to go. Now.”
“But—”
“No time!” Callen hissed, tugging her toward the dense underbrush.
The ground vibrated beneath their feet as the noise intensified. Through the gaps in the trees, they could see the tops of the machines—massive, armored vehicles pushing through the forest, flattening anything in their path. The unmistakable silhouette of a Scorpion gunship hovered above them in the distance, scanning the area with searchlights.
(y/n)’s eyes widened in fear. ”Why are they here”
Callen pulled her closer, his breath quickening as he struggled to keep his composure. “I don’t know, but we can’t let them see us.”
He pulled her deeper into the forest, his exopack hissing with each quickened breath. The terrain grew rougher, but (y/n) moved with an effortless grace that Callen. As they reached a thicket of tall, glowing plants, they ducked behind the thick foliage, crouching low as the sounds of the approaching vehicles grew louder.
Callen motioned for (y/n) to stay quiet, pressing a finger to his lips. His mind raced—how could they have tracked them after all these years? He had been so careful. No signals, no traceable technology. He had destroyed everything that connected him to the RDA.
But somehow, they had found them.
The ground shook as one of the vehicles passed by, its enormous treads crushing the undergrowth beneath it. A piercing searchlight swept through the forest, sending the smaller creatures of Pandora scattering.
(y/n) crouched beside him, her hand gripping his arm tightly, her chest heaving with barely contained fear. Callen put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, though his own fear was rising.
Through the thick brush, they could make out the figures of RDA soldiers in exo-suits marching beside the vehicles, their weapons gleaming. They were scanning the area, searching for something.
“You have to go,” Callen whispered urgently, his voice barely audible over the rumbling machines. “Go home and get the emergency bag i left and follow the trail to the Hallelujah mountains”
(y/n) shook her head fiercely, tears brimming in her eyes. “No! I’m not leaving you.”
“You have to!” Callen whispered, gripping her shoulders tightly. “Listen to me. I won’t make it out there if they find us. But you—you can. You’re stronger, faster. You know this forest better than they do.”
“I won’t go without you!” (y/n) insisted, her voice shaking.
Callen’s eyes softened, his heart breaking. “You have to survive. For me. For yourself.” He paused, the sound of the RDA growing closer. “Go now, before it’s too late.”
Tears streamed down (y/n)’s face, but she nodded, understanding that there was no time left. She embraced him tightly for a brief, heart-wrenching moment before slipping away into the shadows, her footsteps soundless against the forest floor.
Callen watched her disappear, his heart pounding as the RDA vehicles came closer. He took a deep breath, adjusting his exopack, and stood to face whatever was coming next.
But his only hope now was that (y/n) would make it and find Jake Sully.

Being Ohma Tokita's adopted child
Characters: Ohma, Kazuo, Kaede (one mention), Koga, Ryuki
gn!child!reader, hurt/comfort, first part is about Kengan Ashura and the second about Kengan Omega (there will be an Omega spoiler warning!)
If it wasn't for Ohma, you would be dead by now. You barely would have had a chance at life.
Born as the child to a prostitute on The Inside and without your biological father anywhere near the first years of your life were... rough. You don't remember any of it, but your mother really tried her best to take care of you.
Until she was murdered.
Ohma found you by coincidence. And normally he wouldn't have cared about a lonely toddler on the streets. Death is a daily occurrence on The Inside, after all.
There was just something different about you. Something that made Ohma decide to take care of you for the time being. Maybe for a few weeks or months, just long enough for him to find someone who could take better care of you than he could.
Ohma never ended up giving you away. He couldn't get himself to do it.
One day you suddenly called him "dada" and that was when he realised how fatherly he felt for you. And he realised if he gave you away, he'd only worry about how your life would continue without him.
He promised to himself to raise you into a strong fighter so you can defend yourself even when he's not around.
You were 5 at the time when Ohma became a Kengan fighter. It was odd because you weren't used to being around so many people so you would always stay at Ohma's side.
You quickly got attached to Kazuo and Kaede and ended up clinging to them whenever Ohma was in a fight.
At first Ohma was critisized for bringing you along, especially when he took you to the Kengan Annihilation tournament, but that criticism went down when everyone noticed how much you love to watch Ohma (and everyone else) fight.
Especially when it became obvious how eager you are to become a fighter when you'd grow up, people stopped critisizing Ohma for the most part. After all, he's trying to raise someone who might become one of the strongest Kengan fighters of the next generation.
KENGAN OMEGA SPOILERS BEGIN BELOW THE IMAGE
Tumblr media
After Ohma's "death" Kazuo decided to take custody over you. He's already raised two sons, so how hard could it be to raise you as well? It definitely was a lot harder than he expected.
Besides his new job and new life situation in general he was mourning Ohma's death just as much as you were. But every time you seemed to get better, Kazuo started healing a little more as well.
Despite the fact that you're not Ohma's biological child, Kazuo could always see parts of him in you. That motivated Kazuo to raise you into the fighter Ohma had planned.
Other Kengan fighters would help with your training and introduced you to all sorts of fighting styles. You learned the many techniques you were taught by them a lot quicker than any other child your age would, which impressed everyone.
When Koga showed up you got attached to him surprisingly quickly. To him, you're something like the little sibling he never had. You also ended up calling him "Nii-san" at some point because you spent so much time with him.
When you first met Ryuki, you were the first one to not mistake him for Ohma. At first you didn't want to be near Ryuki at all, but soon started feeling some sense of security around him. In some ways he still reminded you of your father who you missed so much.
And then everything turned around. The entire time, Ohma wasn't actually dead.
He hated how he couldn't be there for you the past two years, but what he hated even more was the thought of bringing you into danger.
The moment Ohma finally got to reuinite with you was the first and only time he cried in front of you. It wasn't much, but you could see the tears forming in his eyes.
If you liked this, please remember to reblog and write some tags! It's the easiest way to support me and reading them motivates me a lot!

Hello ! I love your work sm and was wondering if you could maybe possible do a Charles Xavier x reader where the reader is British like him but had lived in France most her life so when she gets angry like in class when teaching the students or just in general with other people and or things she start yelling and insulting in French (reader has ANGER ISSUES) ? If that is to much to ask I understand completely, thank you and I hope you have a great week my lovely xx
The British and French Professor
Tumblr media
Hi there, anonymous asker - I’m sorry it took me a while before I got this posted but I hope you enjoy what I have wrote
Some people simply find enjoyment in staying in the state or country they were born in.
Others have this desire to travel the world and see more than what we have been around most of their lives.
And I used to be one of those people that stayed at home until I met Charles Xavier and his beautiful dream that he had for mutants and the rest of the world at Oxford University when I had gotten my dream job to teach as a professor here.
The first time I had left my childhood home in France I had to adjust to many different things, especially switching from my French accent to a British one that my mother had. She taught me all she could but I haven’t been able to not curse in French when I let my anger get the better of me.
Walking into my college classroom I sat my bag down seeing most of my students were already in their seats and ready for our exam that day. Taking out my exam papers I heard one of my students coming up to my desk with a nervous look on her face. “Excuse me, Professor L/n. I was hoping I could be excused from today’s exam cause I didn’t get enough sleep last night.” The girl's name was Penny and she had her blonde hair up in a ponytail.
Holding the exam papers up against my chest so she couldn’t see the questions I sent her a half smile. “You’ve known this exam has been coming up for two weeks now.”
“Professor L/n, I can’t take the exam today because I broke up with my girlfriend and that was really draining for me.” One of the boys that sits next to her came up coming up with a half assed excuse.
Rolling my eyes I glared at him. “That’s not a valid reason to not take this exam, Bryan.”
“But Professor L/n-“
The classroom door got thrown open and I saw one of the cheerleaders running inside the classroom completely dressed in her pajamas. “I totally thought she was joking about us having an exam the day before fall break.”
“Alright that’s enough.” Laying the exams faced down beside my laptop that was sitting on the desk.
Easton, who was a senior who had failed this class two more times rose from his seat, beginning to put on his backpack and leave the room. “I’m out of here. I don’t need to learn about English if I’m going to play in the NFL one day.”
“Yeah, let’s get out of here.” Another boy began to pack his things, making the blood inside of me start to boil.
Slamming my palms down on the wooden desk I raised my voice at the students who were trying to leave the classroom. “Nobody leaves this room unless I say that class is over!”
“But half of them aren’t prepared for class, Professor L/n. Why should we make it where they pass because we came prepared for the exam?” Amy, who was one of my best students, raised her hand getting frustrated with the fact that their good test scores would help out the ones who could care less about trying to take or pass the exam for today.
Running a hand down my face I huffed doing my best to not let my anger take over. Even if this wasn’t the first time we have had this conversation in my class this year. “Amy, you shouldn’t worry about the curve. I will not improve the others' grades considering we have already discussed this.”
“So since we’re having this conversation I’m assuming we aren’t having the exam today. I’ll see you on Monday.” Penny slowly started walking backwards towards the door.
“Vous tous gĂšlez cet instant ! Je refuse d'avoir cette discussion cette annĂ©e. Vous devez suivre ce cours, je suis votre professeur, ce qui signifie que vous ferez ce que je dis, ce qui signifie que nous aurons l'examen aujourd'hui et que toute personne qui Ă©chouera Ă  l'examen devra Ă©crire un essai pendant la pause qui explique comment vous serez prĂ©parĂ© pour notre prochain examen. Est-ce clair pour tout le monde ?” - - - - - ( All of you freeze this instant! I refuse to have this discussion anymore this year. You are required to take this course, I am your professor meaning you will do what I say, so that means we will be having the exam today and anyone who fails the exam will be required to write an essay over break that explains how you will be prepared for our next exam. Is that clear to everyone? )
All my students' eyes were locked onto me after I had stopped shouting in French and a familiar British accent could be heard throughout the classroom. “On that note I’d say Professor L/n isn’t feeling well and needs to step out. My colleague Hank will be protruding your exam and will make sure everyone finishes before they leave.” Charles slowly enters the room with his friend Hank coming in behind him moments later.
Slumping my shoulders, the anger that I was feeling almost went away instantly when I saw his face and those piercing blue eyes. “Charles.”
“Let’s both be done for the day. I think you and your students have been stressed out enough for some time.” The telepathic professor extended his hand out to me waiting for me to give him my hand. Slowly intertwining my hand with his own he led me out of the classroom and grabbed my bag.
Once we were outside I felt my entire body relax with the wind in my hair and the sun on my face simply taking a walk with the man that I loved. Charles found a park bench and we sat down where I laid my head against his shoulder sighing heavily. “I didn’t mean to snap at them. My anger - my anger issues just got the better of me.”
“I know you didn’t mean for that to happen, Y/n. You are one of the greatest people I have ever met. So don’t beat yourself up over what happened in your class a few minutes ago.” Charles tucked some hair behind my ear.
Lifting my head up I gently kissed him, threading my fingers through his long brown hair. “Thank you, Charles. I appreciate you being here for me.”
“I’ll always have my girls back. You are my love, Y/n.” He smiled gently cupping my face in his hands deeply kissing me back where we just enjoyed the peaceful moment together.

I wish more people understood that not every blind person is the exact same and we do not all need the same things and also the circumstances under how you were raised and when your blindness occurred and how involved you were in a blind community all play parts into what accessibility needs you will have.
Like. I was born legally blind. My vision has been for the most part stable my whole life, and it is likely to not change (unless normal worsening with age). I was raised in a family full of sighted people and all of my friends and members of my community were sighted people. I did not start meeting other blind people and joining blind communities until my early teenage years. This shaped me in such a way that I never learned Braille until I started teaching myself when I got older, did not learn to use a cane until I started attending blind camps as a teen, did not know I had an option of asking for accessibility with videos or images or menus or shopping or cooking or ANYTHING until I met other blind people who made it clear to me that there was a way I could exist with independence as a blind person and didn't have to just. miss out on life that I couldn't see.
So a vast majority of the way I taught myself to get by is very different from someone who spent a lot more of their early years around other blind people. But I also picked up a great deal of "normal" blind accessibility tricks from my teen years of involving myself with more blind communities that other blind folks who never involve themselves in blind communities are aware of or find useful.
My vision teacher as a kid showed me JAWS and explained what it was, but never really bothered to teach me to use it because ZoomText she decided was better for me. So I grew up to use screen magnifiers and not screenreaders. She didn't teach me Braille because she could get ahold of large print books, and when she couldn't she would find me a vast array of magnifiers to use. Ones with lights, ones in different shapes, some that were actual screen devices while others were simply glass. She didn't teach me how to use a cane and instead got me monoculars and bioptics, even though those actually...were not very easily usable to me. I had to teach myself how to use a cane after my first year of camp where I was gifted one, and later expanded upon learning when I finally took Orientation and Mobility training my year before moving out to college. I wouldn't start learning Braille until around the same time when I was given a Brailler by the specific state agency that provided assistive devices to blind students during high school and college.
So now, as an adult, what I find useful is reading text on a screen so that I can adjust my own contrast and magnification, I use a cane when walking around on my own outside of my home or other familiar areas, I use Braille on my keyboard and around on my household appliances so that I don't have to bend over or squint to attempt to read any settings or buttons or keys. A different blind person who grew up with different circumstances will have a very different list of assistive technology that is useful to them. Some will hate magnifiers and prefer audiobooks. Some would rather read Braille. Some will use puff paint or color-coding for household appliances or items like on clothing tags or toothbrushes. Some will use bioptics or monoculars when going to the theater instead of sitting close to the screen, or they might do both, or neither and will just listen. Some will use canes, some will use service dogs, some will use neither, or might prefer a sighted guide.
There are...so many ways a blind person might choose to make their life accessible. And we do not always agree with each other on what is best, because we do not all have the same eyes. Nor do we have the same ears, or hands, or feet. We are varied and complex and we disagree sometimes and come together other times and we discuss amongst ourselves on how to make things better for our community and we confer with other communities on how we help ourselves and help each other. We are not all the same. We are not all the same. We are not all the same.
If you want an answer for what is the One Agreeable accessibility feature for blind people: there isn't one. So just talk to us, instead. Get to know how we vary, how we relate, how you can best help one of us and how you might best help another. I'm sure we'd be happy to tell you what works best for us individually if you ask. And if we wouldn't, then that's ok. Sometimes we gotta figure things out on our own first before we can explain it to others. Either way, never stop asking. Because accessibility is always evolving, and someone is always going to have a different answer to the same question.
You can't get accessibility wrong if you're just willing to try. So keep trying.

A complete arsenal magical girl in Gotham
Part 1
(Fem Reader is a magical girl and was born in Gotham and fight monsters and collect relics from them try’s to avoid the batfam and the villains but what will happen when they notice you and start to become obsessed?)ïżŒ
Gotham, filled with dangerous, evil, crazy, scary and villainous people which always scared me to talk to other people due to my timid nature and with defeatist attacking I have to push pass my meek and timid mind as I try to make Gotham a little bit safer for my mother, father, and friends with my powers
Let me explain. My Mother is a meta human with the ability to control everything and has immense magic (tho not as strong as mine ) and my father is a assassin (but he is not with the league of assassins clan but from another similar) with impressive ability of flexibility, speed, agility, and weaponry. But they are kind and humble people with strong morals and raised my siblings and I to be good people in a city full of a bad people so we could make a difference one day
I have a sister and brother but they are away at college and took after our dad with have jet black hair and black eyes and an being assassins and have amazing agility and endurance as well as high level of strength
While I took after my mother with being born with pink hair and pink eyes (that turn rose gold when I use my full power) and a power that my mother called “complete arsenal” and OP magic and that she told me that I have also have the power of a “magical girl”. She even gave me a pretty and pink device that I use to activate my transformation and powers and to stay under the radar from the batfam and supervillains of Gotham since the one and only Batman forbidden any meta human to come to Gotham so I was taught to hide my powers and identify from the rest of Gotham for my own and their safety as I work in plain site at night and day fighting childish monsters that due pose a threat to people and I have stop them with magic. I even have enmities from the darkness that try and defeat me but fail every time(but there were times that they did come close).
And things are about to get out of hand when I saved a supervillain from a defeatist and they start to tell their gang about me as well as others too

As I walk home from school my hoodie covering my hair and face as I thought about my 18th birthday coming up tomorrow as a huge smile came across my face because it will be at the Gotham carnival fair
As I made my way along the worn down streets and pass people I felt sad seeing how much Gotham is gotten even more grim in the morning when I was a little kid but is much dangerous at night with the many villains and vigilantes of Gotham and since I couldn’t do much when I was just a kid but now that I’m older and almost an adult I can help my people now but must remember to stay hidden to the world.
And as I walked down another path I heard a scream from an alleyway close to me and sensed a monster corrupted aura. I wasted no time in going behind a building and making sure no one is looking a you use your magical device and call out your hero name as sparkles start swarming around me.
“Precure magical time!” And as I say that the sparkles grow around me as I transform into my magical uniform ( a fusion of cure heart, cure lovely, and cure happy outfit) and my pink hair and eyes become more natural, long and vibrant and as my transformation ends I quickly take off down the alleyway and see the monster called defeatist and the person who was trying to fight it was non-other then Harley Quinn who was frantically swinging her black and red bat/Hammer at the defeatist as it try’s to attack her
I Quickly running behind the defeatist and fly kicking it in the face making it hit the side of the wall with immense force as I landed on the ground with elegant and grace as Harley looked on in awe and with a slight blush on her face at the sight of a beautiful face in front of her
And as the defeatist tried to get up I called out my “precure pinky attack” as pink glow shot out my hands and onto the defeatist and making it vanish and all that’s left in it’s place is a pink relic to which I pick up and put in my magical bag
I turn around to check on Harley and tried to ask if she is ok but when I tried to ask she pulls me in to a huge that shocks me a little bit but I did hug her back and ask in a small and shy tone if she was ok and if she is hurt anywhere
After talking to her and telling her my magical name was “cure Pinckney” and after making sure that she was okay I quickly used my powers to fly away and to my house since I was running late and didn’t want to be out in the open for too long since it made me nervous
Unknowingly to me this would start up something big and dangerous within Gotham with vigilantes and villains because Harley would go back to her puddin and tell him about the girl(woman) who had saved her and how powerful and beautiful she is
-
As I finally made my way home and landed on the front door of my parents and quickly changed back into regular clothes as my hoodie and mask covered my face so no one would be able to see me
Has I slowly opened the door to the house it was quite since it was already late at night because I didn’t use my super flight so it took me longer to get home
I walked up to my room past by brother and sister old room and past my parents bedroom and closed the door behind me and after some time to change and get ready for my birthday tomorrow I couldn’t help but think of the amazing day and people as I drift off to sleep
