How does Bedivere handle if MC is stuck in a tree and he’s the only one around?
Based on when I tried to save a cat and 999 had to be called to get me down (I still got to pet the cat though, so totally worth it)
MC could rip the tree apart... or jump off of it, even if high, and be completely fine...
#mc is op#but also if mc was in very serious danger bedivere would help#because they are the consort and it's a knight's duty to help#ask#mc

Royalty AU: Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, and Octavinelle
This is going to provide a bit more lore for the au, as well as providing some information about what the rest of the boys are doing in this world!
Start Here
Your Kingdom:
-Your kingdom is known as the Kingdom of Sages, and its capital is the city of Ramshackle. As the heir to the throne, you reside in Night Raven Castle, along with your staff. You have Crowley, your tutor and advisor. Master Crewel is your personal healer. Trein is the steward of the castle. Sam is the castle's quartermaster, and Captain Vargas is the leader of your Royal Guard. There are also more maids, butlers, and cooks than you can count. Your parents also reside within the castle, but you don't often see them, due to their royal duties.
Heartslabyul:
Riddle:
-The Rosehearts manage the Heartslabyul march, which is a fairly large patch of land on the borders of your kingdom. However, only Marquess Rosehearts actually lives in the march. Marchioness Rosehearts and Riddle both reside in a rather lavish estate in Ramshackle. The family's investments in medical research have made them more wealthy than most others of their class, and plenty of nobles despise them for it.
-Riddle's mother is still extremely strict with him, but her motivations are a bit different here. The marchioness is fairly power hungry, and she wants social status more than anything. Thus, she's been raising Riddle to be the most suitable candidate for your hand in marriage. If you choose him, then she'll be the mother of your king consort, and that grants her more social standing than the rest of the aristocracy. Riddle, for what it's worth, is hesitant to actually court you because of that. He's aware of what she's like, and he doesn't want to subject you to her whims.
Trey:
-He's recently taken over for the Four Leaf Bakery, which is the most popular sweet shop in Ramshackle. His mother, father, and siblings are still helping out, but his parents are trying to make sure that he knows how to run things properly before they get too old. Trey likes to think that people come to the bakery because of how good his treats taste, but honestly, people also come to see him. He's polite, hard working, and sweeter than a slice of his bakery's famous strawberry tarts. Swing by the shop, won't you? He'll make sure to whip up your favorites.
Cater:
-Cater works for the capital's best selling newspaper, the Ramshackle Gazette. He's always busy writing new articles, and interviewing people. Pretty much everyone recognizes his charming smile, and his news stories are always plastered on the front page. Secretly, he finds all the running around to be more than a little tiring, but he wouldn't trade his job for the world. You've spotted him prowling around the gates of your castle recently, hoping to snag an exclusive interview with you. After all, putting your words to paper will make him even more popular.
Ace:
-Ace works as a delivery boy, making sure people receive their packages and other sundries. He's often paired up with Deuce, who works for the same company. Ace ends up running around all over the capital, and he usually complains about having to do so. Honestly though, he's not sure what he'd rather do in life. He enjoys doing little magic shows, but being a street busker isn't a steady job, and his mother would yell at him for doing it. One day, he might figure out his life's purpose. But that day isn't today, he thinks, as yet another bundle of mail is shoved into his hands.
Deuce:
-He also works as a delivery boy, but he gets a few more benefits, since his mother is the one who runs the office. Unlike Ace, Deuce does like the job. He gets to wander all over the city, and meet interesting people. But he wants to be a knight, deep down inside. He grew up hearing stories about valiant knights protecting delicate princesses, and he's been enamored with the idea ever since. Still, his mother always says he should keep his head out of the clouds. So he'll work hard to make her happy.
Savanaclaw:
Leona:
-He's still the second prince of Sunset Savannah, and he still resents his place in life. However, Falena is doing what he can to further diminish Leona's political power by planting rumors and stirring up their citizens. Leona is intelligent, bitter, and ambitious. Three traits that make him a rival for the throne, despite the birth of Falena's son, Cheka. The best way to get rid of Leona is to marry him off to someone outside of their country, where he won't pose as much of a problem. Falena doesn't quite like the idea of Leona becoming your king consort, but it's better than letting him continue to stay. Besides, if you marry his brother, then your country will be more open to diplomacy, and trade. And that's what's driving Falena to push Leona your way.
-As for Leona himself, he's heard about your search, but he isn't all that interested in going to see you. He's not keen on the idea of actually courting you, because he's aware of what Falena is attempting to do. Besides, he doesn't want to end up playing second fiddle to a spouse that won't take his advice, or let him rule beside them. Although, he has to admit that he's a bit curious as to what you're actually like. And who knows? Play your cards right, and you might just be able to snag his full attention.
Ruggie:
-Cleaning, cooking, washing clothes, scrubbing floors, he does it all. Ruggie is a personal attendant for Leona, and that means doing whatever the prince demands of him. It's tough, and he almost never has time for a break, but it's not all bad. Normally, Leona would have a small fleet of servants, but thanks to Falena's efforts, Ruggie is pretty much his only servant. Despite that, Ruggie is proud to serve Leona. The prince pays well enough for Ruggie to feed his family, and that's what matters most. And, if Leona marries you, hopefully the man will remember who actually took care of him.
Jack:
-Jack serves as a personal guard for Leona. Admittedly, Jack isn't sure how he ended up being the one to guard the prince. Protecting the royal family is usually a task only given to the very best of the royal guards, but Jack is still a fresh faced recruit. Still, he takes his job very seriously. He's never too far from Leona, and he's constantly scanning his surroundings. Once he hears the news about your search, his mind instantly goes to his prince. He sincerely hopes that, if you marry Leona, you'll let him continue to protect the man who's earned his steadfast loyalty.
Octavinelle:
Azul:
-His mother owns what is, beyond a shadow of a doubt, one of the most famous restaurants in your kingdom. Even your own parents have been there, and loved every dish she presented. Azul, however, wasn't satisfied with just helping her run the family business. He set his sights higher, and managed to open his information agency with the help of the Leech family. It's worth knowing that, despite Azul's wealth and connections, his reputation isn't the best. Sure, he always delivers exactly what you asked for, but many people have figured out firsthand why you should always read the fine print.
-As for his reasons for courting you, he claims that it's all about the power he'll gain from winning your hand. And he's not exactly lying about that. But he's also a romantic, deep down. He's always wanted a fairytale romance, and he sees the opportunity to have that with you. He sighs, already dreaming about the tales people will tell about how the heir to the throne fell deeply in love with a common octopus mer. Floyd and Jade are already teasing him for how often he's practiced writing "King Consort Azul" on the margins of his papers.
Jade:
-Jade is one half of Azul's "eyes and ears." Literally. When they first started helping Azul with the Octavinelle Agency, the twins struck a deal with Azul. Now, Azul is capable of seeing and hearing the same things as them, to an extent. As for your search for a husband, he's extremely curious to see who you'll select. After all, it might be fun for him and his brother to have royal backing for their antics. Or, it might be even more amusing to watch you fall for someone else, and crush Azul's hopes and dreams.
Floyd:
-Right now, he's bouncing between eagerly listening for news on your search, and getting irritated at you because it's all anyone's talking about. Honestly, it's so much fuss! He sometimes entertains the idea of trying to woo you himself, just to see the looks on everyone's faces. But Azul's quick to remind him that meeting you is going to be a big deal, so he needs to be on his best behavior. That sounds so boring! He'd rather see how cute you'd look if he gave you a little squeeze. You won't mind, right?

Headcanon/au idea:
Fright Knight takes his role as Knight extremely seriously and follows Danny into the human realm.
To not brother his King and his close companions, he turns into something human-like.
He still looks terrifying, but passes enough to protect Danny's secret.
(Think of a 2 meter tall guy, made out of muscle with many tattoos and eyes that scream terror.)
Fright Knight acts as a "ghost hunter", just to have an excuse to be close to his King.
(It's also why no one questions why the 2-meter tall guy is in a high school. It is the most hunted place in the entire city)
In the short time he is in the human realm he:
- takes over the cooking duty, because he doesn't want the royal family to die of food poisoning
- learns that Hunting ghosts is the obsession of his Kings Parents
- has to teach his Kings sister to become a knight, as she would become a powerful ally with age
- befriends Lancer and accidentally deepens his concern about the safety of his king
- wants to haunt some A listers
- has to play DnD with his King and his Consorts
- has to buy some technology for the consort with the reborn soul
- has to go to some sort of battle for the climate with the thorn Consort
- helps his King sleep by chasing partying ghosts away

Maybe it’s an odd time to bring it up, but it is Valentine’s Day. Sonamy and Sonally have been one of the biggest ship wars in the franchise. Thankfully, it doesn’t seem to be as much of a thing as it used to be, but there is still occasional bashing or something. After some deep thought, I think I came up with an answer to make both sides happy.
It has nothing to do with Amy or Sally. It depends on the VERSION of Sonic.
When you think about it, Archie/SatAM Sonic and Mainline Sonic are actually pretty different. With SatAM and Archie, Sonic was born in a monarchy and had a steady home, even when fighting in a war. He’s used to being in one place. He also fought Robonik/Eggman because he had to, freeing the planet and restoring the kingdom. As for the games and IDW, Sonic travels the world and fights Eggman because he wants to, not because he has to. It may not seem like much, but they are key factors. These different lifestyles show more of who would be a better partner for him. Sally has responsibilities as a princess and leader. Even if Eggman is defeated for good, she will still be bound to these duties. Amy, on the other hand, is more adventurous and loves trying new things. She may settle down at times, but she still loves to travel. Both girls are compassionate and ready to help others and can even take the lead when they have to, but go about it in different ways. Sonally is a case of opposites attract and Sonamy is more kindred spirits.
While Sonic and Sally clash at times over how to plan, they work together to pull them off. They are more at ease when they don’t have to be on missions, and more overt about dating. They are also childhood friends in these continuities, knowing each other longer than their other friends. This led to their feelings becoming stronger over time. Sally has grown more into being on the battlefield, but usually works more behind the scenes or deals with the more technical or planning while Sonic takes most of the action.
Sonic and Amy both love adventure and sometimes act before they think. They also go out of their way to help others without a second thought. Amy may be a big romantic, but her relationship with Sonic nowadays is more on the subtle side and no less important and sweet. She used to chase after Sonic, but wasn’t so blinded to put her own desires ahead of others. Amy is also one of the first people Sonic met in his fights against Eggman. Amy also trained herself to be stronger to stand by Sonic’s side so she could protect him like how he protects her.
I do want to talk about the X Years Later/Light Mobius arcs in Archie. In that timeline, Sonic and Sally are married and rule as king and queen. While at times he’s not always happy with being king, he loves Sally enough to accept it. He was even willing to be her royal consort until they could be wed in Archie issue #124 (which is probably the most out of character moment compared to his game counterpart ever). And while we never see Amy in those arcs, Ian Flynn has said a few times on the Bumblekast he thinks Amy would be traveling around with the Time Stones. I thought that was a cool idea, and that feels more like the kind of life the mainline Sonic would want to have.
I kind of feel obliged to bring up Elise. Most people may not like it, and I prefer them as friends, but she was also written as a love interest. Anyway, in one scene Elise asks Sonic if he’ll leave after Dr. Eggman and his plans for Soleanna are stopped, which the hedgehog confirms. Despite what feelings he may have for Elise, he’s not going to give up his lifestyle just to be with her. And I do not mean to make it sound mean, it’s just who he is. A free spirit, free as the wind. And in Sonic and the Black Knight, he is revealed to be the true King Arthur, but he doesn’t accept it. He’s uncomfortable with how the other knights bow to him. I find it hard to believe this Sonic would want that kind of life for anyone, even if Sally was part of the main continuity. She wouldn't give up her duties for him either. A steady relationship or royal lifestyle just isn’t for Sonic’s game counterpart. In issue #2 of IDW, Amy knows Sonic can't be held down and respects his decisions. She loves Sonic for who he is and doesn’t want to change him. Instead, she’s fine with just going on adventures with him. Living in the moment. It’s not the life she initially wanted with him, but it’s enough for now. It does feel like they have become closer after Forces. The game was far from the best, but the premise of spending six month apart is a good way to build something up for them.
The reboot in Archie kind of proves this point about the relationships as well, albeit unintentionally. While the main reason is the new mandates were that game characters could not date, Sonic and Amy felt a lot closer than before. Sonic and Sally were also confirmed to only have a platonic relationship in the new timeline. This is due to Sonic’s past now being closer to his game counterpart rather than SatAM. He’s still part of the Freedom Fighters, but still has his world traveling roots. For example, he came to Mobotropolis after Eggman took over instead of living in the city at the time.
Sonamy and Sonally are both valid ships and deserve support. But don’t hate on the other when it’s the version of Sonic that truly matters for deciding who is the better match for him.

It’s not uncommon for Kings or Queens to establish a royal consort when they become the primary ruler of their kingdom. In fact, it’s often encouraged for the ruler of a kingdom to have multiple consorts as a means to ensure the strength of their next of kin. You were no exception to this. Thus, as you ascended to your place on the throne you were expected to have a set of consorts established as soon as possible.
Gene stands off to the side as he discreetly watches you sift through the stack of papers littering your desk. His jaw set in place, Gene observes you near obsessively. He’s clearly in a bad mood. In fact, he’s been in a bad mood for the past few weeks and you already know why. Being queen meant you had to have a harem, but Gene doesn’t want you to be with a harem.
It’s not right, Gene thinks, to hold such a tasteless opinion. There would be outrage amongst the kingdom if someone like himself was to have a say in the affairs of the monarchy; especially when he’s just a guard. Then again, Gene is the Captain of the Royal Guard. If any outsider were to have an officially recognized opinion, it should be him. He’d only be looking out for your best interests!
Whenever he’s not around you, if he can’t be completely certain that you’re safe and protected, Gene’s mind will swirl with concern for you. From threats upon your life to the burdens you must shoulder, Gene knows you need him around to protect you. It’s the reason why he’s placed himself at your side all this time.
That’s right. Gene only thinks of you because he’s concerned for your well being! It’s certainly not the softness of your voice or the warmth of your gentle embrace that keep Gene from being able to focus on his duties, and it’s definitely not the thought of your roaming hands that consume his thoughts during the latest hours of night. He only wants to help you; to protect you.
But when Gene thinks about how well your body fits against his, or how intoxicating it feels to pry desperate sounds of pleasure from your lips, the boy is forced to face the facts. His need for you doesn’t stem from his desire to protect his queen. Normally the knight would never even humor the thought of coveting you for himself, but recently his desire for you has grown out of his own control.
And now you’re in the middle of picking a bunch of other men to fill your bed.
Irritation bubbles up inside of Gene’s chest at the thought of anyone other than himself being allowed to touch you. Another man claiming that he gets to be at your side and in your bed? That’s something only he should be able to do. Of all the duties you must tend to as queen, can’t this be the one thing you relent?
Gene lets out a scoff in irritation as he unwittingly creeps forward from his spot against the wall. He looms over your sitting form, placing one of his hands against the desk and leaning over you as you sift through the list of candidates.
“Are you done yet?” Asks Gene, his eyes skimming the surface of the papers.
“Perhaps.” You don’t even spare Gene a glance as a quiet laugh slips past your lips. “You seem awfully curious about this. I can’t begin to imagine why that might be.”
Gene frowns at you, his expression tensing as he reaches forward to inspect one of the several candidates. “None of these men are suitable enough to become members of your court, let alone your lovers.” Gene spits, crumpling the paper and pushing it off of your desk.
“The matter of my harem goes far beyond simple lovers, Gene.” You state, a hint of amusement present in your tone. “They’re connections. Individuals whose relations with this kingdom will-”
“-strengthen your prospects as queen and ensure the prosperity of your kingdom.” Gene finishes rather unceremoniously. His tone is flat, but somehow it also gives his true feelings away. Gene is trying to restrain himself, trying not to show how much the fact that you have to have a harem irritates him, but he’s failing. Gene knows he can only care so much about the kingdom. He doesn’t care about politics, he doesn’t care about the ‘bigger picture.’ He only cares about you.
“So you do listen to me.” You chuckle to yourself and spare the boy a moment’s glance. You appear to be taking the idea of a harem much more casually than Gene himself. So casually, in fact, that you have no qualms with sliding a handful of papers right in front of Gene. “Do you want to see who I’ve chosen?”
Gene looks at you, looks down at the papers and then back to you again. “No.”
“If that’s what you’d prefer.” You start to pull the papers away from Gene but his hand suddenly slams down onto them before they’re out of reach. You give Gene a coy smile as his eyes begrudgingly trail across the chosen candidates.
“A peasant, a bastard and a rogue.” Gene mutters. “These are the men with whom you have chosen to fill your harem? Surely you can do better, your Highness.”
“First of all, the men I’ve chosen aren’t as mediocre as you make them out to be. An up and coming aristocrat, the prince of our neighbouring nation and a man of great notoriety. They are exactly the kind of connections this kingdom needs. And second…” You thread your fingers between Gene’s hand and the papers, successfully pulling his attention away from your desk and back to yourself.
The knight meets your gaze expecting to see a soft look but is surprised to find you looking up at him with a firm expression. “And second?”
“And second…” You continue luring the boy closer to yourself by interlacing your fingers with Gene’s and turning your body to better face the boy. “You’re to address me with a title more befitting of a queen. A simple ‘Your Highness’ will no longer do.”
“Is that so?” Gene peels his hand away from yours and brushes back some of your hair. The warmth of your skin against his gloves is agonizing, but he keeps his composure.
You nod, reaching forward and grasping Gene’s jaw with a surprising amount of force. Not a lot, but more than the boy was expecting. With a huff you meet Gene’s gaze. “I’m your queen, Gene. I expect you to address me as such.”
“You can tell me what to do in front of the masses and I’ll most certainly comply, but here, where the two of us are alone?” Gene grins as he shifts his hand from the side of your chair to the side of your leg, trailing his fingers down below the bottom of your skirt and up the inside of your thigh. “I suppose I could, but I don’t think I will, Your Highness.”
“Gene…” Your attempt at a cautionary tone is rendered useless as you bite back a quiet gasp.
Ever the opportunist, Gene takes this moment to lean down and steal you into a kiss. The knight moves his lips effortlessly against yours. He knows exactly how to leave you desperate for more; lightly sucking on your bottom lip and promptly brushing his tongue against it. Just as he anticipates, the action manages to pull a quiet moan of pleasure from your lips.
Gene groans at the sound you make, satisfied to know that he is the one who can make you express yourself in such a way. Your gasps and little sounds only serve to excite Gene further, encouraging the boy to slip his hand higher up your leg until it rests right out of reach from where he knows you want him most. As if only to confirm this, your body twitches beneath the boy’s hand in a desperate attempt to pull him closer to your core.
Your hand ghosts down Gene’s face down to his shoulders. You grip him tightly before pushing Gene back and breaking away from the kiss.
Rather than getting discouraged, Gene leans down into the crook of your neck and peppers kisses against the skin. “Is something wrong, Your Highness?” Gene mocks you with a cocky grin. He’s careful not to leave a single mark as he trails his lips down your neck, but part of him wonders what you might do if he were to let himself linger just long enough in one place.
You attempt to give a reply to Gene but your fiery words are snuffed when the boy slips his hand beneath the hem of your underwear. The leather of Gene’s gloves trails across your v-line ever so slowly, yet when he finally dips down and brushes his hand against your folds your body reacts on its own.
Despite the way your hips twitch forward against his touch, your legs close around Gene’s wrist. When Gene begins to pull his hand away, you subconsciously let out a quiet whine in protest.
“Why did you-?”
“Relax, Your Highness.” Gene chuckles as he pulls away from you. The way your brows furrow in frustration is adorable, and the fact that it’s all unconscious makes it all the more rewarding to see. “I need to ensure that the standard I set is one that will not be surpassed by the likes of your harem.”
Pulling off his gloves, Gene turns your chair so that your legs are no longer confined beneath your desk. He leans down and places both of his hands on your knees, his fingertips just barely beneath the surface of your lengthy skirt.
“You’ve always been a very clever girl. I’m sure you know what I’m getting at.” Seeing your eyes dart down to Gene’s hands is all the confirmation he needs.
Gene runs his hands up your thigh, hiking up your skirt as he slowly lowers himself onto his knees. The way your breath hitches when you’re pulled toward the edge of your chair makes Gene’s grin. He’s hardly even touched you and you’re already this eager.
He begins by rubbing small circles against your innermost thigh. Despite how freely you were just expressing yourself, Gene notes how you’ve suddenly begun holding your voice back. That’s no good. Even if it’s just for this moment, Gene refuses to let you do as you please. He wants to hear your voice. To hear you whisper his name and beg him for more. So without any warning Gene runs his thumb down the length of your folds, feeling as the fabric of your underwear gathers a bit of moisture.
You’re not as aroused as he was hoping you’d be, but that’s fine. If anything, it gave Gene that much more time to break down your resolve.
Gene shifts his thumb up and gently rubs small circles against your clit. The pleasured moan that leaves your lips, though you clearly hold back, is like music to Gene’s ears. It encourages the knight to follow the subtle rhythm of your hips against his touch. When you arch against his touch Gene shifts his thumb higher up your clit ever so slightly, reaching exactly where your body desires him most and causing you to tangle one of your hands into the boy’s locks.
You gently pull Gene back, looking down at him with desire filled eyes. “Must you insist on teasing me so much?”
Gene returns your look with a smug grin. “I only do so because I know it pleases you.” Despite what he says Gene complies with your request. He reaches around and prompts you to raise your hips as he slips your underwear down your legs. When he finally catches sight of your pussy beneath him, Gene can’t help but admire it.
“I thought you were done with all your teasing.” You try to keep your voice flat but Gene can hear the desperation behind it all.
“I’m simply admiring the sight I have before me, Your Highness.” He chuckles to himself, bringing your legs to rest on his shoulders as he brings his lips closer to your core. Without giving you a moment to brace yourself, Gene leans forward and presses his tongue against your clit. Your attempt at masking your surprise ends with you biting down on your hand to suppress any sounds you might make.
Gene takes that as a challenge. He sucks on your sensitive bundle of nerves, ensuring to swipe his tongue against you the way he knows you like it most.
Slowly you start to break. Your hips move in sync with Gene’s movements in a desperate attempt to pull him closer than he already is. He tries to hold you still by pressing your hips more firmly against the chair but at this point it’s mind over matter. You’re chasing a high that Gene is keeping just out of your reach.
Gene trails one of his hands down your hip and down to your core. Being as you’re already on the edge of your climax, Gene slips two of his fingers past your folds and into your cunt. And just like that, Gene finally manages to pry a satisfying noise of pleasure from you.
Despite the satisfaction that wells within Gene’s chest, there’s another part of him that wants to watch you come completely undone before him. To see your head tilted back in pleasure. To indulge in each and every sound you are usually so careful to hide. To feel you wrapped around him as he thrusts himself deep into your core.
Gene wants all of you for himself, but for now he’ll settle for this.
For the feeling of your walls as they desperately clench against his fingers. For your half muted moans and quiet pants. For now, Gene will settle for the taste of your pussy against his tongue because he knows that no one else gets to have you this way. And when your grip against him tightens against his curled fingers, he knows he has you.
Gene pulls his lips away from your clit and lets you ride out the last of your orgasm against his fingers. When he finally does pull away from you, Gene can’t help but bring his fingers to his lips. The familiar taste makes the aching below his waist all the more obvious.
As much as he wants to take you, to finally have you for himself, Gene holds onto whatever self control he has left. The knight stands before you and reaches forward, taking your chin between his fingers and slightly tilting your head back.
“You look so pretty like this.” Coos Gene as he swipes his thumb across your bottom lip. “So delicate and proper, yet filled with desperation at the very same time.”
You let out a gasp when Gene suddenly tilts your head to the side and dips down toward your neck. His pride getting the better of him, Gene lets his lips hover the shell of your ear with a grin, noting the way you swallow in anticipation as he quietly laughs beside you.
“Tell me how much you want me, Your Highness, and I’ll give myself to you.”
As Gene pulls away to look at you, he fully expects the flushed look on your face from the way he’s been teasing you. What he doesn’t expect is the amusement in your expression. “Is that your way of implying that you’d like to be mine?”
“As a part of your harem?” Gene narrows his gaze unconsciously. “Not a chance.”
“You speak as if the men of my harem are but my playthings, yet that is the farthest thing from the truth.” You reach up and caress the side of Gene’s face, the boy leaning into your touch. “I know I said that these relationships are being formed in the interest of my kingdom, but that’s not the entire truth. The men I’ve chosen are special. They’re the only ones who will get to see the woman behind the crown. Is that not a thing you want to be a part of?”
Gene thinks to himself for a moment, really mulling over all that you’ve said, before returning to this moment in time.
“I don’t want to share you.” Gene protests. “I shouldn’t have to share you! I should be allowed to have you all to myself.”
“The people of this kingdom need their queen.” “That’s not-” Gene’s words come to a halt when he feels your hands against his face. You pull him down slowly, slow enough that he could turn away if he wanted to, and carefully place a kiss against the knight’s lips.
Even if it’s just for this moment in time, he’s yours.

Is it confirmed yet or foreshadowed that they ( Jesse, Sadie, and Christelle) will be a couple?
CedYesChris have actually been foreshadowed to be building up to the very relationship TWSB has been implying they'd become since the beginning, ever since the first mention that Riester royalty had to take up both a political companion that is tied to them by matrimony, and a religious companion that is tied together by soul through a covenant. Later on, it is very apparent that the roles will be taken by Ham Ga-in Christelle and Jung Yeseo in particular! (And not even in the way you'd initially expect!)
More elaboration and spoilers below (with novel support and chapter citation lolol):
This is all viewed in a primarily objective light where I interpret what we are given. While I love my shipping, I do believe, in the context of the novel, that there is no romantic basis for their relationship at all as of yet (800+) nor do I believe that there will explicitly ever be, but to deny that there isn't any sort or form of love would be lying. CedYedChris have a complex relationship: friends that are more than just friends but not at all lovers, one that cannot be fully described with words—forged through trials and pain and reverence and companionship, making for a unique relationship of understanding and solace. This sort of queerplatonic relationship is actually very fittingly in line with the power system and world-building of the novel, simply by virtue of the covenant system between Holy Knights and Priests, and the acts of special partnerships that tie individuals by souls.
I find it very funny actually when people say they cannot see Cédric and Ga-in getting together because of how different they are (and how much they seem to repulse each other lmao) but the more you read and understand about their relationship, the more you realize that after all these hundreds of chapters, there is no one that would who could fit the role of "Crown Prince's political companion" more than Ga-in herself—not even as a romantic partner, but as a mere companion.
There have been attempts at Cédric having to find a potential consort candidate, and Cédric himself has mentioned that whoever is INEVITABLY picked he will agree with unconditionally as it is his duty as Crown Prince to marry someone later on to help support his reign (251-4). But ultimately all of his friends agree that his happiness is something that is also very important, especially when it comes to marrying someone for the rest of his life. He might say he doesn't care, but once Yeseo starts expressing concern and dissatisfaction with him getting marriage proposals to nobles Cédric wouldn't be able to fully get along with outside of a political union, he starts expressing relief and hints of aversion to the idea of an arranged marriage that he has no say in (254). And we, as readers, know that Cédric is not the type of person who could easily open up to people, and while he is not the type to be discourteous to anyone who would become his future spouse, it's clear that for the type of person he is, a marriage with someone who he is only connected to due to duty pales in comparison to the trust he has with a comrade who has been by his side since the beginning, who knows him better than any random noble who wouldn't understand a fraction of his soul (and potentially might not ever, as the circumstances under which Cédric has ever emotionally opened up were never something that he chose to do on a whim, and probably never would have talked about, had it not been for specific circumstances [like in 602]). In all those rare and explosive instances when he went through periods of turmoil, he was lucky enough to have people by his side who understood and could sympathize/empathize with his very unique pain.
Cédric and Ga-in are very different, but funnily enough two out of three of the only people who can understand each other the best in this life and universe, as they have many life experiences and traumas and history that no outsider will be able to understand, and (HUGE SPOILERS CHAPTER 640) after the group travels 20 years in the future, it is even canon and /very/ heavily implied that the two of them are married! (Though there are mysteries about Yeseo's whereabouts and roles in this future.) BUT!
It is actually very vague on whether or not this is romantic (and doesn't even necessarily seem to be) but in my interpretation of their special relationship and based on the novel itself, I truly believe this is a very understandable partnership between two people who have gone through so much and have come out of it as partners that the other can trust, and who they know they can depend on and have emotionally opened themselves up to.
It doesn't have to be romantic. It doesn't even need to, for such a marriage to work, and if there is a hint of romantic love in it, we cannot see it nor will we know for sure, but I believe that it doesn't actually matter. CedYesChris is very queerplatonic and if you've read that far, you understand that by that point, they've all become companions that know each other from every inch of their souls. All of them consider each other as their Moon, Sun, and Earth, and have said (particularly Ga-in to Yeseo, and Ga-in speaking on behalf of her and Cédric about him) to be unable to live without each other (657, 805), and it is a sentiment echoed almost within them all. Cédric Riester, by simple virtue of being the future Riester Emperor, will inevitably have to marry, and what better partner than Ham Ga-in, who has distinguished herself with notable achievements in the Empire, and is an important friend to the Crown Prince?
And of course, their relationship with Yeseo is also something that I believe brings them together all the more. They are their partner's other partner—they are each others' partner. They are all pretty much in a Holy Knight/Priest partnership and Yeseo is the only one alive that can support the two of them with the ether they'd need, and not exhaust himself in the process (like Priest Sand). They are all soothed by each other's souls, and before you say Cédric and Ga-in physically repulsed each other, in Chapter 651 we get a confirmation that the two of them have formed a bond and tie between each other's souls following the events of Chapter 301 when they fought in the temple during Cédric's ether runaway/turmoil. Accidentally, during that fight that ended up with Cédric nearly unconsciously killing Ga-in in his grief, they managed to have a small part of each other's etheric plate chipped into the other, meaning (particularly in Ga-in's case) that she can now stabilize herself from a runaway with the help of Cédric's opposite attribute ether to calm the fury of her water (651). They have somewhat of a quasi-telepathic relationship, though they typically cannot hear much of anything but as their souls are tied in a unique way, they can feel in some abstract instinctual sense when something is going on with the other's soul/ether, even if not within the same vicinity (727).
As for Yeseo being Cédric/CedChris's religious companion, it has actually been confirmed by Yeseo himself that he would have agreed to pledge a covenant with Cédric and tie their souls together, and yet hasn't and is putting off/has refused the proposal (of ch330 and onward implictly) because Yeseo is VERY intimately aware of the fact that he is not from this world and will, ultimately, have to return home in the end due to his love for his siblings, and acknowledges that he would not wish upon Cédric the pain of being separated from the soul one would tie themselves with upon forming a covenant (736). For reference, even Empress Frédérique and Aurélie cannot separate for too long without Fred feeling immense amounts of pain, discomfort, and irritation, only managing to cope by surrounding herself with piles ether stones filled with her soul companion's ether, (510, and some other chapters but i cant remember them all rn wkfjdk).
In Jibril's words, a religious companion is someone that would be able to provide support and mental fortitude to their partner, which is something that Yeseo considers about Jibril's own aspects who he hopes would support his cousin in the future (a future without him in it). Yeseo is very concerned about Cédric's circle of support and always has his well-being in mind, and this not only stems from his wanting to be a good friend, but also because of his regret and hesitation in accepting Cédric's covenant proposal due to his impermance in the universe. He explicitly says that he does not wish to hurt Cédric! The bigger the distance, the more painful it is for the companion—so how painful would being separated by different worlds, be?
Both Cédric and Yeseo want to be each other's companion and fuse their souls together (Cédric more so than Yeseo—this guy would really accept no one else). The only thing preventing that is Yeseo's fear and concern for Cédric. I don't have much to say about this than I do about Cédric and Ga-in's future political companionship, because CedChris is just a bit harder to understand for TWSB readers if they haven't gotten far enough into the novel yet. In contrast, Cédric and Yeseo’s religious companionship has been made most probable from the very start of the novel, and yet funnily enough, the difficulty and probability of the formation of the Political and Religious partnerships have been flipped 😂 It is easier to see Cédric and Ga-in becoming political companions (and is, as of Chapter 805 and ongoing, most canonically supported to be something that is in place 20 years in the future), as opposed to Yeseo accepting Cédric's covenant proposal haha.
But I firmly believe, at the end of the day, that the three of them will become companions. Not necessarily in a romantic sense (no matter how much I enjoy my shipping) but also not in a standard platonic sense, either. Yeseo views Ga-in as his continent and earth, and regards Cédric as a precious being equivalent to the sun. Ga-in speaks for both herself and Cédric when she says they cannot live without him, and she loves Yeseo so dearly and his well-being is her priority, and acknowledges Cédric as someone she respects and can rely on, and who shares similar pains with her. Cédric treats Yeseo with so much reverence and desire, and Ga-in with mutual understanding, and both are the only people whom he can be fully emotionally vulnerable with. They have a very special and unique relationship and I don't know how exactly it will play out in the end, but I sincerely believe that there is NO ONE in that universe that could understand their pains and souls and mere entirety, than they do for each other.
CedYesChris are soulmates! Whether it is made by their own hands or written in the stars. I believe wholeheartedly that Sookym has written and built up their relationship splendidly and so naturally.

1: departure
"Sister, do you really have to go?" The youngest princess, Lucille, begged. You were in the midst of choosing clothes to travel in with your two ladies-in-waiting, choosing different gowns that would survive the long journey north. You let out a long sigh as you turned to the younger. She was just 13, a girl of ten years younger. And perhaps the sister you were closest out of the five girls your parents bore. She was innocent, naïve, and terribly sheltered. You gave her a gentle smile as you strode over to sit beside her on the bed as the ladies-in-waiting worked on moving your gowns into suitcases.
Placing her hand in yours, you spoke. "I do. I have to go so our parents can continue to take care of you and the residents of our kingdom." You tucked a loose hair behind her ear as she gave you a solemn look.
"Why does it have to be you?" She grumbled, tears welling up in her eyes. "Can't it be Eleanor? She's younger and... and... I mean she's not as good as you but we need someone like you here! Who else will kepp the nobility in check and help the people?"
"Perhaps it will be you, Lucy," you smiled at her. "Learn etiquette, politics, how to care for our kingdom. I will support you... As the imperial consort." The final sentence came out strangled, your voice cracking as the words struggled to come out. Imperial consort... A fate you wished you could avoid.
Your kingdom was struggling to stay afloat, famine, droughts, and diseases were running rampant across the land. The royal coffers were not enough to fund the resources necessary to create solutions. If it were not for the diamond mines recently found, your marriage to the powerful northern empire would never have happened. In exchange for support towards your small kingdom, the empire would receive you and the rights to the diamond mines. It was of little solace to know you were worth the same priceless amount of multiple diamond mines.
Tomorrow was D-Day. The day you left for the empire. The day you would leave everyone and everything you left behind. Including your secret lover. Including your dearest Albert Wesker.
Albert Wesker was your assigned royal guard by your father. The most capable of all knights, the captain himself. He was far older than you, old enough to have sired you. And yet, there was an undeniable attraction between the two of you. When he was first assigned to you when you came of age, he was cold and unforgiving, never having said a word. But you must've grown on him over time, because there came a point where his attraction to you was undeniable. Of course, as eldest princess, you had a duty to keep your integrity. But that didn't stop you from sharing stolen, forbidden moments and tender kisses. Leaving him and being promised off to another was, as shameful as it felt to admit, possibly the worst part of this arranged marriage. Though, there was some mercy. He and your ladies-in-waiting were allowed to escort you to the empire, but from there, it was a high chance that they would be replaced with people native to that land.
The day was coming to an end far too quickly. After comforting Lucille, you had dinner with the rest of your family. It was a subdued affair. And soon you were up in your room again for your final night, but not alone.
"Wesker," you breathed, choking back tears. He had been waiting on the sofa in front of the fireplace, but as soon as you entered he crossed the room in few strides, pulling you into a desperate embrace. This was out of character for him. He never seemed desperate. "Wesker," you repeated, the tears that you so greatly wanted to keep hidden spilled forth as you buried your head in his chest. He gently rubbed your back in a comforting, gentle way. A tenderness he would only ever show you.
"Shhh, dearheart, I'm here." His voice was husky, laced with pain. He separated for a moment to pick you up, and he carried you to your bed, drawing the curtains aside before gently placing you down. He climbed in with you, entwining his body with yours beneath the silk sheets. And he kissed you, tenderly, so gentle it was like he was scared of breaking you. But it soon became heated, passionate, filled with desperation. His hands wandered your body, expertly removing your dress. Luckily, today you hadn't worn a very complicated one. Both of your garments now to the side, he returned his lips to yours, sliding his tongue into your mouth, drawing a gasp of surprise from you. His hands left hot trails everywhere they went; it was as if he was trying to memorise every inch of your body.
His mouth moved from yours down to your jaw and your neck, leaving a trail of kisses, careful not to do anything that would leave lasting marks. Eventually his mouth made its way to your breast, latching on to your nipple. You let out a quiet moan, trying to keep your noises as suppressed as possible. His tongue flicked and teeth grazed at your nipple whilst his hand played with your other breast, making sure to give the two of them equal attention. Your moans spilled forth, "Wesker!" Your noises seemed to light a flame within him as he began to move down your body, placing kisses on your soaked panties as he hitched your legs up on his shoulders. This was uncharted territory. You had never let him touch there, to maintain your dignity as a princess, you had always cited. But tonight was different. Tonight was possibly your last night to enjoy his embrace.
The older made eye contact with you, eyes asking for permission, but even with this being the final night, you could not bring yourself to breach your morals and teachings. Although, for going as far as you already have, you might as well. You bit your lip, struggling to come to a decision, but the hesitation was answer enough for Wesker. He moved out from inbetween your legs, guilt panging in your chest as your eyes fell to the tent in his undergarments. If only he was your intended, your future, your destiny. Desire burned beneath your underwear.
"I'm sorry," you whispered, wrapping your arms around him as he hovered above you.
He shook his head in response, "Don't apologise, dear," he laid a gentle kiss on your forehead before laying beside you. "You hold steadfast to your beliefs; it's something I love about you."
"I'm going to miss these nights we spend together," the lump was forming in your throat once more.
"So will I, princess, so will I." Moments of silence passed as you two simply enjoyed each other's company, his hands roamed your body freely, but a lot more tenderly than before.
"Do you remember when you were first assigned as my guard?" You whispered, a small smile gracing your face as you caressed his cheek.
A frown played about his lips. "I would rather not think about those days, dearheart."
You giggled in response. "Why? It's so silly to think back on."
"I was cruel to you, then. Treated you far colder than an esteemed princess ought to be treated."
"Being cold is just who you are." You paused, planting a soft peck on his lips. "I'm just glad you warmed up to me."
He smirked, drawing you in for a deeper kiss, still ever-so gentle. "Who could resist this charm of yours?" He smacked your ass and buried his head into the crook of your neck, taking in as much of your scent as possible. You had yelped in surprise at his sudden actions, but it quickly melted into giggles as his breath tickled your neck.
"Albert Wesker, I love you."
"I love you too," his response sounded filled with more sorrow than anything else.
The next day was busy; Wesker had gotten up to leave before the sun rose, despite your pleas, so the maids and your ladies-in-waiting would not find the two of you together. It was right in time that you got your garments on as well, as the ladies-in-waiting came in and drew the curtains almost as soon as you finished. They assisted you in bathing and getting dressed and having a quick breakfast before escorting you outside, where the row of carriages holding all your luggage was kept. It wasn't as much as one would expect from a royal; usually there would be as many as ten carriages, but being frugal and considering the state of your kingdom, you decided to take only two carriages of luggage.
And now, it was time for your awaited departure, which came all too soon. Your family was waiting by the carriage, and the palace staff were standing bowed as a farewell. These people, whom you have known your whole life, you may never see again. Tears welled up in your eyes as you walked towards your family, curtsying to the king and queen. "Greetings to the sun and moon of the kingdom," your ladies-in-waiting followed suit.
"Daughter..." Your father sighed, gesturing for you to stand upright. Your father wasn't one for affection, but his eyes were swimming with a multitude of emotions as he placed a firm hand on your shoulder. "You are doing us a great service, my daughter. My eldest daughter whom I feel nothing but pride and joy for." Your mother, the queen, sobbed quietly as she pulled you in for a hug.
"My dear, sweet, kind, girl," she whispered, "I know you'll make us proud." She separated and placed a gentle hand on your cheek to wipe away your streaming tears with her thumb.
"Thank you, mother," as you turned to your sisters, Lucille leaped into your arms, unabashedly sobbing loudly.
"You have to write me! All the time! Ok?!" She cried, burying her face into your cloak.
"I will," you croaked, patting her hair as comfortingly as possible. "I trust you to study diligently," you lowered your head to whisper in her ear, "I will support you if you decide to pursue the crown." She nodded. As you straightened yourself, the other three sisters approached you. None of them showing nearly as much emotion as your parents or Lucille. Two of them, Eleanor and Maribelle, envied your prowess whilst the other, Georgina, fears retribution from the olders if she were ever to side with you.
"Farewell, sister. I'll make sure to take on your duties and help care for our kingdom in your absence," Eleanor gave a wicked smile. Maribelle and Georgina didn't say a word.
"Thank you, kind sister, but I trust our parents far more than an inexperienced princess. I know you are eager to learn, but mistakes are far more costly to fix. Please, take your time in learning well my duties before you take them up," Your tone was sweet, and you felt a small twinge of amusement as the smile plastered on her face faltered.
"Safe... safe travels," Georgina's small voice came out from behind Maribelle. Her nervousness was the only thing that stood out about this princess.
"Your Highness, I am afraid it is time for us to depart." Abigail, one of your ladies-in-waiting, murmured. You separated from Lucille, who was still sobbing loudly, clenching her gown in her fists.
"Thank you, all. I will make sure to write and do our kingdom proud. And if time allows, I will visit as well." Wesker, who stood by your carriage, opened the door and held out a hand to help you in, which you took. As the carriages pulled away from the palace, your family stood, waving at you. It was a heartbreaking sight to see; you're finally leaving everything you've ever known behind. Your whole life, your whole family, what you thought would be your future, your whole everything. The tears couldn't seem to stop flowing from your eyes, no matter how much you wiped away at them.

little by little, we'll meet in the middle
summary: Oikawa x F!Reader (slight/past Iwaizumi x Reader). You and Oikawa are two moons - now that you've been pulled into each other's orbits, you can't seem to pull away. Even when you probably should. Sequel to Honeybee.
word count: 1k
cw: one mention of unhealthy eating practices. weird past-life-soulmateism. Yearning.
a/n: this is a part two, so i recommend reading in order to sort of understand the love triangle/knight x king/past life bullshit that's happening here, but honestly i don't know how much it'll help. it's a little bit of a the raven cycle au, but not quite? happy birthday IDIOT @ oikawa tooru. i love u or whatever
Your hands are calloused: at the base of the fingers and the web of the thumb. You brush a careful touch over the inside of Oikawa’s wrist, sweeping your thumb over his pulse point. Checking that he’s still alive. Warm touch and pulsing heart persisting.
You let go when he shifts the car into parking gear, pulling with both hands on the parking brake. It’s an old car, and only as reliable as its owner.
He tries not to think about the combined delicacy and roughness of your hands, tries not to add another scrap of evidence to the pile that says he saw you first and he saw you true. It’s a pointless collection, like so many of his little passion projects. He couldn’t help building it, his jealous hoard of the moments where you were his and his alone. Guiltily, each brick had been laid and mortared from the moment he’d watched his best friend fall (clumsy and boyish, in a way he so rarely allowed himself to be) in love with you.
Even now, when Iwaizumi’s eyes are far from the both of you, even now that you are technically unburdened by belonging, the stiff line of duty is in your back and his vision. He keeps his eyes carefully away from you; if he looks at you for too long, his tongue finds words that shouldn’t be said.
Your posture is as straight as the pines surrounding you, picking at the sandwiches you burned for lunch. Prosciutto and melted cheese you’d found unlabeled in the fridge, the crusts literally rimmed black, still a little warm to the touch even all the way into the blue mountains.
It’s a little fuck-you to him. He had called and said come on a drive with me. And you had fought him, snapped that you were in the middle of making lunch. Make me some, too, then, he had said indifferently, I haven’t eaten anything yet today. And you had been waiting at the curb, standing up straight with one hand shading your face and the other holding a bag of sandwiches.
“Where are we going?” You asked, sliding into the passenger seat, stowing the sandwiches between you. This carefully curated space is present, always, a barrier never let down by both of you at the same time.
“Nowhere,” he shrugged, kicking the car into gear. “Anywhere.”
The long-unused backroads are exactly in-between. Blue-green trees block out the sky, ushering in a soft not-quite night in the middle of the day, blurring that hard line.
“They’re burnt,” you say, shoving the food into his hands. Three extras, just for him, because you worry about the way he gets distracted, gets obsessed, forgets to eat. Three burnt sandwiches, because you want to show him that love isn’t going to soften you, that whatever past you may have had (knight; king; lifetimes ago) your future doesn’t involve cooking at home while he rules the court. You wear your principals like you once wore gleaming metal armor.
He sees it in flashes. Reaching out, palms open. Hands calloused by the grip of your sword. A chalice, lifted to your lips, helmet removed and hair loose. Voice strong and sure, swearing fealty (voice soft, warning him of impropriety. Of the dangers of consorting with peasants).
Lips, dry and still as he swallowed your fears.
“I don’t mind,” he says, and you look away from him. Everything feels raw and too real.
“What do you want to do for your birthday?” You say, because you don’t know what to do with his vulnerability. With-your-friends Oikawa is so different from talking-to-adults Oikawa is so different from just-your-Tooru. He’s water, slipping through your fingers even as he’s still rising around you, threatening to swallow you whole.
He knows what you’re doing, too, because he knows that the boys are planning a surprise party away from his family, that you’re not supposed to snitch on the plan but would in a second if he pushed. You can’t lie to him.
He worries that the corollary is true: That he can’t lie to you. That you see him for what he is.
He gives you a wry smile, telling you that he’s playing your game. “I want to go to the moon.” He’s been saying it since he was five, even when it stopped being true and became a tradition he was locked into.
“Of course you only want what you can’t have,” you laugh, and the words don’t lodge as painfully as he thought they might. “I can give you a star, Tooru, is that enough?”
“I guess,” he gives a prissy shake of the shoulders. “I could accept a promise.”
You don’t laugh, like he’d planned for. Instead, when he looks over at you next, you’re looking at him with an expression like—the sunset, honey melting over the horizon. Warm.
Oikawa shivers.
“I can give you that,” you say, voice small in your throat. He feels wildly unmoored in time, slipping between this life and the last; this love and the last; doom and destiny, woven together in a single thread. His head is heavy. Outside, the trees block sheets of misty rain. “Can that be enough?”
Your face is serious when he looks at you (can’t look at you too long, can’t let it show on his face), but your eyes shine. You’re looking at him—he feels dizzy with it—like he’s the sun. Like he’s a king.
You wrap gentle fingers around his wrist and tug him closer. The world is quiet, here, with you. His and his alone.
You keep your eyes steady on his, chin lifted in determination, always ready to fight. He runs a finger over the back of your hand, the one holding him. You don’t look at his mouth and you don’t let go.
He knows what you want because he wants it, too.
He lifts both of your hands and puts your palm over the lower half of your face. The center of the universe is your mouth. You stay still while he positions you, not even surprised; you know him.
Slow: he leans in, presses his lips to the back of your hand. Your eyes shut; he watches you as he lingers. The barrier hasn't been knocked down, yet, but this is him laying siege.
“A promise,” he says against your skin. “Is all I need.”

TW: manhandling, restraints, some physical abuse, implied future noncon, panic attacks, kind of a suicide attempt.
The Samhain.
The tunic is itchy, that's the problem. Arthur's usual red shirt was loose and the sleeves stopped at his elbows, giving him a free range of motion to hold a sword. This tunic is still crimson red, yet it's tight around his torso. The neck is wide with no drawstrings to help close it. Instead of the belt he used to have, there's a scarf that the attendant ties to his hips. It's itchy and he can't reach for things without feeling like he might rip the material.
Arthur dismisses his attendant. He would have liked a few minutes to himself but the soldiers at the door knock twice when he doesn't come out. He grinds his teeth and throws the doors open.
"Gentleman," he says, or rather, snarls, before marching past them towards the banquet hall. He's growing tired of the soldiers his father has dispatched for him. Morgana would say he's shifting his anger on menial details. But being furious at the king of Camelot is one step short of treason.
Said king, Uther, smiles broadly when Arthur arrives and beckons him to the table. "Son, come sit with us!"
Arthur walks past many of his knights and other noblemen while keeping his gaze straight. If someone talks to him, he might be sick.
It's the tunic.
The banquet is for Samhain, but this year, it's also for Cenred's arrival. Arthur doesn't spare a glance at the man and seats himself next to Uther. His tight-lipped silence doesn't stay for long because Uther shoots him a glare: behave.
It makes Arthur feel small like a child being scolded, but he cannot forget what this celebration is truly about.
"You are to be leaving with King Cenred after the sacrifice on Samhain."
Arthur, who'd been digging into his meal, frowns. "For how long?"
Uther drinks from his chalice. The prolonged wait makes Arthur confused.
"As part of the peace treaty's conditions, you won't be a subject of Camelot from then on."
Arthur puts his fork down. "I don't understand."
"King Cenred wishes to forge an honorable alliance with us. And as you are aware," Uther looks him in the eye, "it is not in our best interest to refuse."
"If this is about the famine, we'll recover. We always do, Father. This is my home. I can't leave you— or Morgana. My knights. Who will train the squires?" His desperation becomes transparent in that last question because they both know many worthy knights can step in for him.
"I didn't raise you to be so short-sighted. Yes, we did manage to survive the famine but make no mistake, winter will wash out whatever we have salvaged. Our kingdom needs resources and King Cenred is willing to provide them. Do you see now?"
Arthur has to blink back his frustration. "What will I even do in Essetir?"
"He would like to court you since you are of age. Then when the time is right, he has agreed to marry you."
The chair scrapes back as Arthur stands, outraged, hurt, and scared. "I will not be his consort," he spits. "I cannot believe you would ask this of me."
Uther stares at him in distaste, as if he's the one acting ridiculous. "You won't be a simple consort."
"I might as well be."
"Foolish boy," Uther slams his palm down on the table, "do you think you have a say in this? What is your duty as a knight? What is your duty as prince of Camelot? What is your duty to me, your king?"
Arthur steps back like he'd been slapped. Pulling rank is nothing new for his father. It's just...
Uther surges to his feet and grabs a handful of Arthur's hair. Ignoring the pained yelp, he sits again, dragging his son to his knees beside his chair.
"Please, father, I don't—"
"What is your duty?"
He doesn't look up. Arthur cringes as involuntary tears trickle out and fall to the floor. He tries to ease his hair from the strong grip but it only makes Uther yank his head back till he had no choice but to look at him.
"Speak."
"To protect my kingdom and my people."
"That's right. You can achieve that if you do as I say for once in your life."
"That's not fair," Arthur whines. "All I've ever done is for this kingdom," he grabs at Uther's thigh, "for you!"
"Your romantic notions of marriage and love are more important to you than I am. Your people can starve, as long as you get to live happily ever after with your true love. You're not even worthy of your title." He shoves Arthur to the side.
"You don't m-mean that."
"Prove me wrong then." Uther steps over him and goes to the door, leaving him there, alone.
Arthur can't sit here and endure his father's silent, scathing looks. He can't. After a few minutes, he quietly leaves the table with the excuse of speaking to his knights. Arthur doesn't actually want to see any of them, so when Leon catches him at the drinks station, he tries not to scowl.
"What is it?" he asks, expecting some report or hindrance that needs to be taken care of. Arthur won't be responsible for it. He'll be gone. Perhaps Leon will pick up his tasks. He's a fine man with a gentle camaraderie with most people.
"I heard—" he pauses, "is it true that you are leaving, my lord?"
Arthur takes a swing of his drink, nauseous at having to talk about it for the first time. He admires Leon for being able to confront him. Arthur is a coward. "Stay within your rights on what you can ask your prince, Leon."
He clasps his hands behind his back, a look of contemplation crossing his face. Leon looks sober and composed. Arthur hates it. He doesn't push it, though, and drops on a stool nearby. The pillar he leans back on is cold. His vision is turning blurry. He closes his eyes.
"Do you plan to run?"
Arthur's eyes snap open. Leon is sitting next to him. When did that happen? "What?"
"It is my duty to protect the prince of Camelot. So if you decide to... escape, I will lay down my life for you."
The word duty has Arthur throwing up on the floor. The servants immediately swoop down to clean the mess. Arthur's throat burns. He takes the water offered to him.
"Leon... I can't do that."
They wait till the servants flit away. Leon begins to whisper in rushed tones and it's gratifying to see at least one person care that much. "Everyone's busy tonight with arrangements and having to accommodate Cenred's party. I can distract your guards."
Hope should feel light and warm. Arthur only feels dread. "Cenred will blame my father. Then there'd be—be a war."
"It is not right—"
"You've been good to me," Arthur hiccups through it, uncertain if Leon can even hear him over the clamor and cheers of the celebration. "I won't forget that." He lurches to his feet, feeling more exhausted than drunk. Patting Leon on the shoulder, he says, "I might as well go talk to my future spouse."
Cenred and Uther aren't sitting together anymore. Uther is with a large circle of nobles, while Cenred is clapping along to a bard's tunes. Arthur walks over, nodding at the men who bow and give him room.
Surely, he can do this much for his people. Uther is right in his own way. Will one life ever be worth thousands? Not to his father. Arthur can't bring himself to smile at Cenred as such thoughts run in his mind.
"I've been eager to see you," Cenred says as he sees him.
"Likewise," Arthur says, somewhat mechanically. He puts his hand out for a shake, which Cenred grabs. But Arthur pushes him off when Cenred places a kiss on his knuckles. The women nearby giggle.
"Spirited as ever, little Cir-Mheala," he whispers.
Arthur touches the hair by his ear, heart racing. Cir-Mheala. Honeycomb. When he was five, his nurse had told him that his hair was as golden as his mother's.
Arthur tries to reign in his loathing, but Cenred snares him swiftly. He ruffles his hair with a smirk. "Fit to be by my side."
Smacking his hand aside, Arthur scoffs. "Aren't you a little old for a second marriage?"
Cenred ignores the jibe. "In two days, we'll be leaving. I want to take you to the market of the druids."
Arthur doesn't know much about druids, save for the fact that Uther hates them. "Courting me will be a waste of your time." What is he doing? Being on good terms with the king is his best option if he is to leave Camelot. But it's so difficult to be cordial with a man like him. "Why bother winning my affections when you force my hand in this?"
"I'm not forcing you," Cenred says, sighing. "Do you despise me that much?" Before Arthur could reply, he was jerked closer by the scarf around his waist. The older man's breath is hot on his face. "It's alright if you do, Mheala. Your fire is very appealing."
"Stop it," Arthur snaps. "Stop it, stop it, stop it!"
It's too late when he realizes how loud he'd been. He ducks his head and scampers out of the room, ducking and weaving through the stares.
In his quarters, he rips off the stupid tunic and kicks off his boots. Between words like duty and Mheala, Arthur feels cornered. A warrior would think of strategies and escape routes like Leon. Shamefully, Arthur can't stop thinking about his father.
He knows he's never been the best son, or prince for that matter. Disappointment from Uther is constant, no matter what he did. He'd tried, though. Arthur had tried so hard. He'd tried till he could swing a dagger in the rain and not miss. His father had to break his fingers a few times before he learned, but he'd learnt it, hadn't he?
Tonight, he'd tried to talk to Cendred, but Arthur failed. Arthur's chest caves at the thought of living out the rest of his years with that man.
He's holding a knife in his hand. Arthur must still be tipsy because he doesn't remember taking it out. The knife is sharp, the metal so familiar Arthur could recognize it in his sleep. He brings it to his face and changes his grip—
"What do you think you're doing?"
Arthur's grip on the knife loosens, but there's no hiding it. He lowers it, nervous. Embarrassed. "What are you doing here, father?"
In an instant, his head cracks to the side, the hot white pain in his jaw making him see stars. Blood joins the bad taste in his mouth.
"How dare you?" Uther snatches the knife and throws it across the room. "Coward."
"I wasn't—" Arthur stammers, clutching his face. "It's not what you think. I wasn't trying to—"
"First you insult Cenred, then I find you with a knife. I'm thoroughly ashamed of you."
As Uther calls the guards and yells orders, Arthur backs away to the window. The alarm his body feels is out of proportion, some part of him thinks. He is shaking uncontrollably. The terror in his chest is as persistent as a cough that threatens to drag out his guts. He can't breathe.
The soldiers tie his hands and feet. "No, no, no. I—I swear, I wasn't going to kill—kill myself." Arthur's pleas are useless.
Uther looms over him. "You brought this on yourself."
The next punch knocks him out.

Understuck!
First up, Chara Dreemur
My thought process for sorting them into Rage was because they seem like they are angry at the world, angry at humanity and ready to do what it takes to break out of the underworld. Possibly to the point of dying way too early on their beds to try and ascend to godtier to try and gain more powers.
Next is Sans,
I deliberate...for so long about his class. Knight seemed the most fitting as it allowed him to manipulate and exploit light and use it to do his bidding but (also his role as the guard in judgement hall and sentry duties just seemed apt to assign him this role)...its also very funny that he is too lazy to do much of anything. The light aspect was a cruel joke I decided to go for, knowing his personality it is devastating to his character when he already knows the outcomes and can further prove to himself that nothing matters and that sock can just stay where it is, the timeline will eventually end anyways...
Then we have Alphys,
I liked the idea that she KNOWS what will happen if she does something, and KNOWS what happens if she doesn't. She is constantly stuck weighing choices, lives and options and it will eventually break her. As someone so anxious, I think it's sadistically hilarious to have her be faced with seeing all the consequences of her actions...all the time. It is paralyzing and terrifying, but her anxiety doesn't allow her to not look either.
Next is Asriel,
Deciding his classpect was tough...it was difficult to choose something that fits him but also will bring about character growth. Hence, I decided to just provide a different kind of tribulation. Having Flowey as your guiding sprite. Honestly, what did he put in that kernel to create such a menance when he is a sweetheart...no one knows. However, it is hilarious that his role is literally designed to help him do good things, but his guide is literally making it impossible to do right.
Last but not least, Mettaton
I like to think that while everyone is struggling with their inner demons, having demonic guiding sprites and being overall depressed. There is a single dersian dreamer thats throwing lives and shows for the dersian consorts. Just casually being amazing in general. I can forsee MTT abusing the powers to achieve even greater heights of glory and fame...but its difficult to maintain being so sexy and entertaining with saving the world so...Haters can just suck it.

Light Consorting With Shadows
Chapter 8: Winning Your Heart
[previous]
For the next several days, many questions surfaced throughout Camelot. Not much was known about this stranger, and much like Aurora they wanted to know more. He had some pretty serious injuries to be treated, so not many of their concerns were answered. Once the doctor gave them word that he was in a better condition, the King finally came around to approach him with questions; the stranger's bed was empty. The bed felt cold so he must have been gone for several hours by now. The doctor confirmed that he had just saw him that morning. Perhaps he will return and give the royal family some information on the ambush?
Or at least, that's what they had hoped for.
"He left this morning." The knight confirmed with Aurora, joining her at the bench near the lake. She could see the disappointment written on Shadow's face. He too, was desperate for answers. This was his home that was attacked. He had expected this individual knew something.
Aurora didn't want to admit it out loud, but she had a feeling this wasn't gonna be the last of this guy. Maybe her gut feeling was wrong this time? It was just a really bad nightmare, that's all. She constantly reminded herself every single day. "Great! We can get back to our training, hm?" Aurora shook the thought off, and quickly got to her feet.
"Not today; you have studying to do." Shadow grinned under his helmet, and patted her shoulder.
In response, her shoulders sagged in disappointment. The princess rather not spend hours and hours of her day behind a desk, and reading a dusty-old-book that somehow wasn't considered outdated. In the book were listed different duties that was "required" when she became queen. Deep down, she really didn't know whether she wanted to carry that responsibility when it came time for her to take her mother's place. She knew there was no persuading the knight, "how about tonight?" He gave a nod in agreement before they parted ways.
---
In the next couple hours, Aurora had fallen asleep with her head buried into her book. Her mentor thankfully didn't make an appearance, so Aurora was alone to take notes (if drawing counted as note-taking). An hour or two later, she fell asleep. Just like her father, she wasn't great at staying still for long periods of times. When she woke up, she saw the sun had gone down. Shutting her book in excitement, she ran out the door with her sword. Adrenaline pumping throughout her body. Down the long hallway, she ran into a servant walking in her direction. Accidently, knocking him to the floor. Muttering an apology, she came to his side, helping him up. When their hands touched though, her fur stood up on the back of her neck. It was as if there was an electric charge of some sort? She couldn't place the sensation. He must have felt the same way, because he was quick to jerk away from her touch. He quickly bowed and ran off in the opposite direction.
Weird... Aurora shuddered as he disappeared.
The princess approached the arena, of course the Knight was already there. She watched him stretch out any stiff muscles, while he was doing so. Aurora disappeared. It was rare that she used her abilities. Especially with him. Sure, he knew that she was gifted with Photokinesis, but during their training sessions, she didn't see the need for them. Outside of their sessions, she was almost afraid to use such power, because many people may look at this gift as magic... which was greatly frowned upon, and feared in Camelot. But, what harm would it be to tease her mentor a little? Unbeknownst to him, she was now behind him, while "cloaked" she reached at his tail and gave it a yank. Slightly, startled, Shadow whirled around to face his foe. Only to notice that his invisible foe was now taking his very own sword. It looked like the sword was just hanging in mid-air. Shadow jerked back, as Aurora aimed at him. He dodged, by mere inches of the blade. Then all of a sudden, the sword was gone too. But, only momentarily. She was limited to a very short span she could make objects disappear. Once it reappeared, it just dropped to the ground.
Shadow was quick to retrieve his weapon of choice, but instead of attacking his invisible rival, he strained to sense when she was about to attack next. Aurora was enjoying this way too much, she could see the frustration all over his face. Despite, the frustration on his face, though, she could have sworn she caught a glimpse of excitement in his eyes. "If you wish to play like that, princess... then so be it." In a flash, he was gone too. He knew that she was limited at her cloaking ability, and eventually she would be compromised, and he could attack.
She saw him reappear at the top of the concrete perimeter around Camelot. In haste, she ran up the wall. Her body was starting to feel the effects, soon she was exposed to her rival. In haste, she rolled into a ball- aiming for Shadow. Instead of disappearing, he caught her spin-dash, and soon they both rolled down the other side of the concrete wall. They uncurled just before they hit the ground, Shadow ontop of her. The pair breathing heavily. "I win." The knight breathed out. He loosened his grip on her wrists, and started to get back to his feet.
Aurora was quick to grab at the collar of his armor, and pulled him down for a kiss. It was a short kiss, but the passion was there and the pair definitely felt it. The princess felt her cheeks burn, and this sensation traveled to the tips of her ears. She smiled against his lips, then pushed him off of her. "I think it is I who won, Shadow." She teased. Reminding him that she did indeed ambush him, and have the upper hand before a few moments ago.
Shadow gathered himself, and stood to his feet. His legs feeling like jelly. His eyes scanned her, before giving a soft chuckle. "Fine." His eyes darting from her gaze, deep down he wanted to pull her into another kiss. This time, he would be taking the lead. Instead, he just wished her goodnight.
Aurora still felt her heart pounding in her chest as she made her way back to the palace, that kiss still fresh on her lips. The princess climbed up to her balcony, and snuck inside, closing the curtains and the door behind her. She didn't notice the condition of her attire until she stepped infront of a mirror. Her dress covered in mud, and torn from the tussle between the hedgehogs. She tossed it aside, and retrieved her nightgown. She would have to remember to get rid of the dress before questions were asked. Aurora couldn't exactly be upfront about their encounter...
--
The next morning, a guard approached Aurora near the end of the corridor of the palace. She had just finished breakfast with her family, and was heading in the direction of her "classroom" to continue her studies that she had forgotten all about. "M'lady?" He cleared his throat, and bowed.
Aurora craned her head in attention, he stood tall before her.
"Your father... I need to speak with him... please." He breathed out, in a panic. Behind her, Sonic emerged. Relief rushed over his face when he saw the King. In haste, Sonic followed the guard. Aurora following suit. They were led down a set of spiral stairs. The princess forgot this place even existed underneath the palace. It wasn't often that Aurora came down here as a child. It was heavily guarded... usually. When they came to the bottom of the stairs, they found one of the guards near the door leading to another room where Sonic had hidden the Chaos Emeralds. He was out cold, in puddle of blood. They soon discovered that the unfortunate guard had succumbed to his injuries. Sonic was vivid.
He was a new father, and a loving husband. Aurora watched as her father announced to his family. It was painful to watch as the wife collapsed on the limp body of her beloved spouse. Throughout the several days, and weeks to follow security was tightened around the palace. Aurora was limited to her studies, and anytime outside of the palace. She understood her father's concerns. If someone were to get ahold of the Chaos Emeralds, they would be in serious trouble. Especially in the wrong hands. But, the royal family knew whoever killed the guard... their intentions weren't not good.
It was storming tonight, lightning pierced the night sky, and occasionally striking the land around them. Being stuck inside the palace, Aurora was getting restless; however, for once she took her father's warnings seriously. She turned a corner, heading to her living quarters. Before she made it to her door... she was pulled aside. A hand covering her mouth before she could make a peep. She squirmed in the stranger's grasp as he pulled her into another room. The only thing she could see in the darkness, was those piercing red eyes.
"Keep quiet, or your next to die under my hand." He whispered against her. Not uttering a sound, he released his hold on her. "Good girl." She saw his toothy grin shine in the darkness.
"What do you want?" She hissed.
"I was watching you the other night. Your powers are... impressive." She wished she could get her heart to calm down. "I could surely use someone like you."
Her ears fell against her head, and she balled her hands into a tight fist. "Use me for what, exactly?" Like that was gonna happen. She thought.
"Oh, don't be naive. I can feel the energy from the Chaos Emeralds that your father keeps hidden." A familiar red glow appeared from his hand, "this is where you come in, my dear. You'll be the key." Aurora wasn't quite sure what he expected of her. Sure, she could go undetected... easily. But, Aurora wasn't sure how her photokinesis would respond to the energy from within the Chaos Emeralds.
Not that she would even think of retrieving the Emeralds for this jerk. However, she wasn't quite sure what this stranger was even capable of. It was clear that he had powers of his own. The pair was quiet in small room, the dark being before her... waiting. Aurora didn't say a single word, and simply kneed him in the stomach. Because the room was dark, she couldn't really draw from a light source right now...so her abilities were limited. When he fell to his knees, she ran for the door. It wasn't long before, Aurora could feel him behind her again. He was furious. She was quicker than him, but she soon discovered that he was capable of moving objects with his mind. Various objects came flying towards her, just barely missing the princess. She was getting closer to the dining room, when she passed by a servant that was busy away with his nightly duties.
Behind her, a large table was lifted into the air. "Watch out!" Aurora warned to the servant. Quick on her feet, she jumped infront of him. Pieces of the furniture crashing into her body.
"Princess, I'm so disappointed in you. Just let me have the Chaos Emeralds, than I'll let you be."
"You have no right to them." A familiar voice from behind them, "if you lay another finger on my daughter-" Sonic threat was interrupted when the dark figure turned around now facing Sonic, Shadow, and Blaze standing at the doorway. He charged towards his new rivals. Chairs, dinnerware, and benches were lifted into the air...aiming in their direction.

10, 18 and 23 for the asks? :)
This one's about Lyra because I've been enjoying developing her lately. TY for the ask! Really appreciated. Even though I'm answering so late.
10. Where is your OC’s favorite place? Like if they were having a bad day, where would they run off to?
Just staying at her room, with Malenia or alone. They really did it whenever they could, escaping all their duties and spending time together.
Also they loved hanging out near the Haligtree.
Sometimes Lyra needed to be completely alone. Despite all their love and affection, Malenia wasn’t always easy to deal with: she wanted too much attention (being love- and touch-starved, finally rid of the Rot after all those years). So sometimes Lyra could flee to the library, pretending she had duties there, or stay at their room alone while Malenia was out training new recruits or whatever.
18. How does your OC feel about education? How much education do they have? Are they studious or a slacker?
Lyra has Carian background and some education in sorcery - unfinished ‘cause she fled to the Haligtree. She was young, somehow she heard about Miquella’s ideas and wanted to serve him, help him make the Lands between a better place.
Then she tried to switch to fighting. Lacked in strenght to be a full Cleanrot Knight, but got some useful skills.
And yeah, she thinks that learning new stuff in general is always a good thing. As long as one lives, one should learn.
23. What is your OC’s dream? What will they do once they’ve achieved it? Are they done and they disappear into the sunset or will they find a new goal/dream?
She dreamt to serve the Haligtree best way she could. Also, to be closer to Malenia. Of course, it all came true, even more: Lyra couldn’t even dream of being an Elden lady, but here she is. Formally Miquella's consort, actually Malenia's wife, the third in their family. Now she keeps dreaming of making life better and more peaceful. Of course, it’s not easy, there are new challenges in the postcanon, enemies (like Gowry or some remaining Bloody Fingers) wanting simply revenge or a rematch.,.

Criminal Minds Royalty/Fantasy AU that absolutely no one asked for.
description of the AU below the cut
This is a lot, but basically in this AU, it’s about the time equivalent of Season 2 in the show, but Gideon left earlier, roughly around the time Elle did. It’s centered around a Kingdom where magic is real, if rare, and can be used by only certain people.
Gideon was the former King of the Nation. But years into his reign, he suddenly abdicated his title and stepped down from the throne, similar to how he left the BAU in canon, no one ever saw him again. All he left was a letter for Reid explaining his reasons and a list of instructions.
Gideon left the command of the Nation in the hands of Aaron Hotchner. Hotch was previously Captain of the Royal Guard. The Royal Guard is the most elite section of the Kingdom’s armies, they live in the castle, protect the monarch and their family, and assist the monarch on conquests and campaigns. Hotch had worked his way up from an Officer position on the western side of the nation, to working on the Guard in the capitol. He married Haley and still has Jack, making her Queen Consort and Jack a Prince. They still get divorced a few years into his rule, Haley tired of Hotch spending his attention on the Kingdom and his troops instead of her and Jack. So Jack is still a Prince, but Haley is no longer Royalty. She doesn’t count as Queen Mother as mother to the future King, because Jack isn’t the next in line once Hotch dies or steps down.
Reid is the next in line. Gideon took Reid in after Reid’s father left and his mother was committed for Hysteria. He met Gideon during his studies in the capital, the King deciding to take him in and announce Reid hier, as his only son (Stephen) had disowned Gideon. But when Gideon left, he deemed Reid not yet ready to take on the crown, which is why it went to Hotch. He listed in the letter he left that Reid wasn’t up to the task because he was too young and inexperienced. Reid wasn’t upset about that, finding it a fair reason, but was still furious and upset at Gideon for leaving. So now Reid is Crown Prince and Heir Apparent to the Throne.
When Hotch was made King, he chose Morgan to be the new Head of the Royal Guard. Morgan had started as a soldier in one of the Kingdom’s other major cities, before transferring over to the capital and working his way up the ranks until he was in the Royal Guard. Morgan’s father was a soldier in the army and had died in the line of duty, pushing Morgan to pursue the same career to honor his father.
Elle was a Knight in the Royal Guard for a while, before she was almost killed in her own quarters in the castle by a madman. Similar to canon, she spiraled and then killed an alleged criminal against Hotch’s orders. She was then banished from the Kingdom.
Also, like, I imagine that Reid and Elle had a little something going on in this AU, so maybe she never really left and he’s been helping her hide and survive within the Kingdom. But that’s not really relevant to the main story here.
Anyways, JJ is from a Noble family in the Kingdom’s countryside that moved to the capitol. “Lady Jareau” works in the castle as an aide and advisor to the King. I chose that for her, because there’s not really a “media” position in a fantasy kingdom, and JJ offers a different skills set than the other profilers, so here she can offer Hotch a different perspective and provide advice in areas that Hotch doesn’t already specialize in.
Penelope is a witch who was caught using her magic to curse corrupt businesses and local Lords. Hotch offered her a position in the castle in return for not sentencing her to jail time and having her powers stripped. She works as the overseer of information in the castle, she used a both her magic and connections to collect information on enemies and criminals.
After Elle was banished, Emily was chosen to take her place. Similar to JJ, she also comes from a Noble family. But her parents moved around the Kingdom far too often, moving into areas of conflict to act as peacekeepers. She had learned many of the nation’s dialects and her parents always paid for the best of tutors in the area. When she became a Knight, Hotch was initially concerned, believing her to be planted within the Kingdom’s armies to spy on him, but she proved her loyalty.
Years later, when Morgan is promoted to High General of the Kingdom’s Armies, she is given the spot of Captain of the Royal Guard.
Rossi is not in this AU bc I have no use for the old man just yet.
There’s also the relationships in this AU.
Obviously, Gideon was like a father towards Reid before he left. Reid may project that a little bit onto Hotch, and Hotch cares for him in return, but I wouldn’t classify the relationship they have in this AU being explicitly “father-son”.
Garcia and Morgan still have their somewhat inappropriate banter going on, even when she used her magic to talk to him while he’s halfway across the Kingdom on a campaign.
At first Reid and Emily weren’t close. Or more accurately, he resented her for replacing Elle. After he was kidnapped by a religious fanatic who believed the Kingdom should have no ruler other than the Gods, and drugged by said fanatic, things got worse. She was the newest of the relatively small castle staff that he interacted with, so his drug induced irritation was often taken out on her. But in this AU, Emily was the one to call him out on it, and helped him get clean. They fixed things and after a while they genuinely viewed each other as siblings.
JJ was betrothed to Will, her parents arranging the marriage. They were happy for a while, they weren’t in love, but they were still close. They had Henry and Micheal, but eventually Will got a job offer in another major city, and they both decided it would be best to separate. Emily comforted JJ after the separation, and helped her care for the kids, and at some point, JJ fell in love with Emily. Which was good because Emily had been in love with her for years.
Reid and Morgan are bros. Brothers from another Mother. Sib from another crib. Besties from another testes. Morgan saw Reid the day after Gideon took him in, and thought “wow look at this skinny loser” and promptly decided to be his unofficial personal body guard and official best friend for the rest of their lives. Reid also uses his intelligence to design new sets of armor and equipment for the Guard to keep them safer as a thank you for Morgan’s protection.
Garcia and JJ work with Hotch most often, they are his best advisors in any situation, and he values their opinion over everyone who isn’t canonically on the team. They also aren’t prone to fits of “my masculinity has been insulted so now I’m upset” like Morgan or “I never learned how to deal with anything emotionally so I’m taking it out on everyone around me” like Reid or “i compartimentalize so hard that the minute i can’t I literally break down” like Emily. So they are considerably better company to have in a crisis.
Despite not being a part of the Guard, Reid, JJ, and Garcia often spend time down in the barracks or training grounds. Morgan had attempted to teach them to fight. It was successful with only JJ. At least Penelope has her magic, with Reid he has to hope his subpar sword and dagger skills don’t eventually lead to him stabbing himself.

balxephon
The one and only Balxephon V. Rahms??
Why I like them
First of all he’s got everything I love in a man: slimy politician, manipulative, willing to ruin the lives of his loved ones, a lying sack of fleas. Additionally, Balxephon is a lesson on how to give a character an incredible presence in your narrative with minimal careful exposition. He makes himself scarce, but whenever he comes onto the scene, it feels impactful. It also helps that he’s pretty much behind every action Lanselot takes and the two are in perfect coordination so when Lanselot does anything, you can guess it was in consort with his fellow snake.
Why I don’t
He’s a slimy manipulative politician, willing to ruin the lives of his loved ones, overall a lying sack of fleas? (I love him but I hate him but I love him but I hate him but mostly I love him)
Favorite scene
Obviously his battle in Phidoc castle but... more on that in the next question.
The runner-up is “Ozma’s return home” simply because it is haunting. To have someone as stern and unfeeling as Balxephon speak words of love to his fiancée but in a context that makes you want to throw him to the sharks... Simply unsurpassed in the “whiplash of emotions” and “incredibly twisted video game moment” departments.
Favorite route
Almost all the Balxephon is concentrated in Lawful route so... Obviously Lawful route. They made a fantastic decision when they added him to the final fight of Chapter 3 alongside Oz because:
1. It added a layer to Oz by giving him this implicit complicity with Balxephon (who comes off as something of a respected mentor figure) and, if Oz knows about Balxephon assassinating his father and putting the blame on Hobyrim... That means he has his confidence... which leads me to think he is on Lanselot & Balxephon’s plan for Valeria and knows they hold the Brynhildr. Of course, he dies before any of this is verified but Balxephon’s involvement with him on Lawful suggests so much.
2. All of what Lawful route is about, trending a dangerous violent path to reach your goal. Revolutionizing a system by staining your hands, sacrificing innocent people and sacrificing your loved ones for the cause is found in Balxephon. He recognizes the same “qualities” he possesses in Denam and that should give both Denam and the player a lot to think about. Denam’s thoughts that conclude Lawful route are written as if they’re a direct answer to Balxephon as well which really just... hammers the nail right through the wall.
For reference, on SNES, you duel Oz during this fight, all on your own. But the rework of that fight during the remake has done wonders for Lawful route’s narrative.
Favorite line
This is the heart of the conqueror! This is you!
(for aforementioned Lawful thematics reasons)
OTP
Balxephon/Ozma. Obviously. Who doesn’t like miserable arranged marriages mixed in with lies, betrayals, one-sided affections, duty-bound people, a related third party on a quest for revenge, a deranged twin brother fourth party?
Brotp
Balxephon/Lanselot. Obiously. Who doesn’t like the beautiful symbiosis between two machiavellian minds lying to their subordinates hands in hands to accomplish their goals, using violence whenever they deem it necessary (very often), torching villages, etc etc? Just friendship goals, really.
Head Canon
(EDITED: I accidentally skipped this) I’ll repeat what I said above but he is absolutely one of the only people Oz respects and he islet in on the little Balxephon schemes.
Unpopular opinion
There is no popular Balxephon opinion, there is also no unpopular Balxephon opinion. I have to create my own discourse and fight with myself in the shower about bad takes no one ever uttered.
I’ll say though my opinion is people should absolutely give him a second look and consider that a lot of what Lanselot does is in consort with him.
And there is something incredible about the game opening on the torching of Golyat committed by the Dark Knights under Lanselot’s command, having your first impression of Lanselot shaped around that event, having echos to that event throughout the game... Only to end your post-game chapters with a flashback of Balxephon giving the order.
This really summarizes all his character is: someone who is behind everything but you aren’t made aware of it.
A wish
If there is ever a continuation of the game (directed by no other writer than Matsuno :) as it should be), I think I deserve a follow-up to Hobyrim and Ozma going back to Lodis to murder him. We all deserve it.
An oh-god-please-dont-ever-happen:
Don’t let his boat sink in the middle of the sea, never to return to Lodis. The loss of narrative potential would be immense (even though... alright, it would be pretty funny).

-> H i e r a r c h y 🌙
[This list is arranged from highest to lowest position and power]
-> Royalty [Hibous] 👑
King (Basilias) and Queen (Basilissa) . Is the main ruler of an independent state, especially one who inherits the position by right of birth. Is considered and forced to be the most powerful and strongest member of the entire clan, as they are idolized as a leader of god-like powers in order to guide the clan to success, fortune and wellness.
King and Queen Consort. Is the spouse of the current ruler of the clan who not only has the obligation to support and advise their spouse but also to orchestrate events, participate in councils or other duties that the same spouse could assign to them to help with royal obligations. Is considered the ruler's pillar to represent order and harmony 'inside the crown'.
King Father or Queen Mother. Is the parent of the current ruler and spouse of the previous one who, either because they're prohibited from inheriting the throne due to not being blue blooded* or because they're retired, they don't occupy the throne and is now in charge of being the second pillar serving as counselors. They are mostly tasked with helping with the lighter responsibilities of royalty and organizing small events such as occasional banquets or parties, but can also be assigned as representatives of a sector (The High Court, Healers or heads of a community).
Great Prince (Pryngyx) and Princess (Pryemonyss). They are the siblings of the ruler who maintain their title of prince or princess in case of the death of the ruler to occupy the throne, however, as soon as the ruler has descendants this title differentiates the siblings with the heirs since they can no longer take the throne. They have very little relevance in the monarchy, they are in charge of helping in the simplest or in keeping the reputation stable and the clan entertained and at the same time interested in the crown, apart from that they have a very carefree life.
Prince and Princess. They are the heirs to the throne by being the offsprings of the ruler and they are only responsible for hosting some special events, but it is very rare. They are usually only concerned with receiving the education to properly prepare themselves to be the next kings, but others can also serve as messengers and organizers in the palace if given this permission.
Great Duke and Duchess. It is a royal relative to whom the ruler granted this title as permission to govern a territory in the ruler's name. Currently, they would function as the mayors, but they cannot make reforms, laws or any other type of movement without the consultation and permission of the ruler, so they often keep in touch and this person is only in charge of being the communication bridge between the ruler and the people of a specific territory for better control.
-> Nobility ⚜️
Marques and Marchioness. This title is given to those people with the same commission as a grand duke and duchess, but they are distinguished from these by not being relatives of royalty. Very few members have this title.
Count and Countess. This title is granted to the most qualified people to be the leaders of the military unit of the clan, these being the highest position of all, giving them all the responsibility of the army.
Viscount and Viscountess. This title grants the privilege of controlling citizenship, that is, it is responsible for leading and organizing small groups of soldiers who are responsible for maintaining order in cities and towns (as well as police today).
Baron and Baroness. Usually these titles are given to successful people in different ranks such as entrepreneurs of large companies, military generals and other categories that produce a lot of money and require leadership.
Knight [Nastcha] and lady. It is the lowest title of nobility and is given to soldiers and daughters of barons and baronesses who may later become ladies-in-waiting for a royal member (basically as a high ranking maid, but they were very close to royalty and even allowed to make friends, they were the most trusted people).
-> Healers 🔱
High Priest. Is the most powerful healer in the entire coven. It is usually the oldest healer but in reality everything depends on the latent power in the healer. Thus, there may be young but powerful High Priests . There is only one in the hierarchy.
Council of wise. They are in charge of helping the High Priest to carry out the rituals within the coven. They are also in charge of advising the healers on some ways to increase their spiritual energy. It mostly consists of a group of 7 members.
Supreme visionaries. They are healers who have somehow reached the peak of their powers. Their powers are usually equal to three or four Whisperers but are only surpassed by the power of the High Priest. It consists mostly of a group of 12 members.
Whisperers. They are the healers properly explained. These may or may not belong to a coven. Those who do not belong usually travel selling their potions or simply to learn and improve their magic. They are a group with an unlimited number of members.
||As you can guess, this group is fully dedicated to magic, more focused on defense and regeneration, many of them working as doctors, surgeons and nurses.
This sector is also a middle class, since it stands out from the lower class due to its importance and contribution to the clan, they do not have the same privileges as the upper class either, but they do have special payments and permits||
-> Workers 🪙
The services and industrialization sector are the most exploited in the clan and in this, there is also a small hierarchy in which the position that receives the most money has a higher position in its internal hierarchy.
Here they enter from executives, treasurers and supervisors, to fishermen, blacksmiths and tailors; in addition, small organizations of the same or similar category (for example, craftsmen and carpenters) called Guilds are organized to help each other and negotiate prices so as not to create competition with a large price difference and prevent businesses from closing. In addition, they choose a spokesperson for the community to say their complaints, compliments and requests to the sovereigns.
||Both this sector and the unity of peasants and servants, despite not having the same privileges as those of the upper class, continue to have benefits such as free public health, right to free public education, public bathrooms, gestation of aid, fountains, small climatic oases and more for guarantee a good life||
-> Peasants and servants 🌾
Despite the fact that they do not have a clear difference with the sector of workers, the peasants and servants, being a minority sector in the clan, contribute little relevance, for which they are classified as the penultimate step of the hierarchy since they can also be sons of slaves or persons previously belonging to another rung of the hierarchy who had become seriously indebted (for example, a duke may become a peasant or serf to pay off his debts).
They have the same benefits as the workers but they are more socially rejected.
This sector only consists of 6% of the clan's production, of which only 0.8% of this production is used for foreign trade.
-> Slaves ⛓️
This is already the last rung of this hierarchical pyramid and, despite the fact that they continue to have some benefits such as access to public health, hygiene, clean and always renewed clothes along with some entertainment, they do not receive any salary, they do not receive aid or protection rights by being exposed to physical and verbal abuse. This is because they are not considered equal, not having a life or soul anymore.
This is a completely adult group, since the slaves originate from losing bets in which they put their own lives on the line, eternally chaining them to the person who would now be their master. However, these cannot be sold; if you want to get rid of a slave, it will be by freeing them of their debt or by killing them. Slaves are also considered material assets, so they can be inherited.
||A small advantage is that in the event of a serious illness or injury, they can take medical leave that allows them to rest without working under paid treatment||
*Blue blood: It is the term used to categorize those who were born with royal blood, whether they are the same members, close, second or even distant relatives, since they continue to share the same "blessed" blood type of the royals.

wb!! i’m the proto-indo-european classpector :) this is gonna b long but i’m excited to hear ur thoughts:
dyeus: absolutely some kind of Light player, probably an Heir. dyeus stems for the pie word for bright, and dyeus is the pie daylight-sky god. he is the divine personification of the day sky, but also has an association with rain (lolar, anyone?). dyeus was also a witness to oaths and treaties, and was considered “all-seeing”. the sun was thought of as his eye. but the sun was… also deified and worshipped as a separate god. so maybe dyeus is something like an Heir of Light? his embodiment of the sky and his ability to Control and Change via Light makes me think of an Heir or a Lord/Muse, but he wasn’t a leader of the gods, and seems more similar to a really powerful Heir than a Lord or a Muse. if you think about it, being the daylight god, he probably could “shine a light” on something like an Heir of Light, albeit in a more literal way.
dheghom: just like dyeus, dheghom isn’t just a goddess of the earth, but is literally the earth personified and deified. dheghom had the titles “plethwih”, which meant The Broad One, “dheghom mehter”, which meant Mother Earth, and “dheghom dhengwo”, which meant Dark Earth. Dark Earth is especially interesting, because dheghom was the wife and was seen as the compliment of dyeus — though in many ways they were the opposite, they were very much two sides of the same coin. interestingly, dheghom didn’t bring fertility and life herself like most earth goddesses are thought of as doing — she only did this with dyeus. therefore, Life doesn’t really work for an aspect, and the complementary nature of dheghom with dyeus + the darkness theme makes me think of Void. i’m tempted to say she’s a Knight of Void, due to academic reconstructions saying she may have been viewed as a Giver of good as a result of her and dyeus fertilizing the earth. while this is still in combination with dyeus, it should be noted that Void isn’t just nothingness and darkness — it’s also the material world. Light is the world of ideas, the metaphysical, and by Giving dyeus Void, she makes concepts real. alternatively, she could be a Maid or Sylph of Void, as she is Creating the material world — it helps that, if any class would have a “mother” subarchetype, it’d probably be Maid and Sylph (see: the maryams).
perkwunos: you know how i said dyeus was associated with rain? while that is true, there is a diety more directly associated with rain — the weather god, perkwunos. he was called upon during times of drought, and was associated with rain, lightning, thunder, mountains, some kind of weapon, stone, and oaks. though thunder and lightning were viewed as Destructive, his association with rain also gives him an association with Creation and Life. his association with oaks also brings Life to mind. as a result, i’d give him the title of Bard of Life. his association with weaponry and Destruction brings Prince and Bard to mind, and perkwunos translates to either “the Striker” or the “Lord of Oaks”. as weather dieties in indo-european religions are often either the head god or the son of the head god, a Royalty archetype is easy to argue for. the reason i opt for Bard over Prince is due to the wildcard aspect of Bards — weather is uncontrollable and seemingly random.
the divine twins: according to wikipedia, “one is represented as a physically strong and aggressive warrior, while the other is seen as a healer who rather gives attention to domestic duties, agrarian pursuits, or romantic adventures”. despite this difference, they were both seen as healers and helpers, in particular to shipwrecked humans. they also raised the sun by pursuiting their consort, the morning star. due to this, one — specifically, the one who gives attention to “romantic adventures” — is likely a Sylph of Heart. he is a Healer, and though by raising the sun both Create Daylight, the reason for this is because of attraction — Creating through Love. for the other, his association with war and aggression (in particular as divine aid in battle), and the fact that both were associated with… dance, for some reason? makes me think that he’s either a Knight of Rage or a Knight of Time. Rage and Time are both associated with Battle, and can be connected with dance for different reasons — Preforming, and Rhythm. i’m leaning more towards Knight of Time, though, as by helping to raise the sun each day, he Gives Time — without the sun, there would’ve been no way to tell the time. although both are described as healers, my proposed Sylph of Heart has more emphasis on the Healing aspect, and my proposed Knight’s emphasis on war and battle makes me think of Protection and Weaponizing.
hewsos: hewsos is the dawn goddess, and is depicted as the opener of the gates of heaven, and a *reluctant* bringer of light, whose reluctance she is often punished for. she may have been considered immortal, and the sun rising each day could’ve been seen as her being eternally reborn. she also has an association with dancing. she’s definitely a Maid, with her reluctance to bring light being punished, and her constantly being reborn. she has a lot of Light associations, being called a lightbringer, certain cognates related to light stemming from her name, and being… the personification of dawn & the morning star. considering she’s a reluctant bringer of light, Maid of Light seems to be the most likely — tying in with Maids being oppressed by their aspect — but it should be mentioned that her father is dyeus, an undeniable Light player. perhaps that’s his influence on her, and the reason she’s so reluctant is because she’s not actually a Maid of Light, but forced to act like one. however, the evidence seems to point to her being a Maid of Light.
sehul: she’s literally the sun. she’s described as being the eye of dyeus, too, which makes me think of a Seer of Light. after all, dyeus wouldn’t be all-seeing if it weren’t for her — he wouldn’t know all he does if she didn’t See everything. there’s also mehnot, the god of the moon, but i can’t find anything on him.
sorry that this is so long! i’d love to hear your thoughts :D you’re my favorite classpect analyzer on here so i rlly do hold ur opinion in high regard. ty!! -🛐
Oh goodness! That is a loooot, I totally forgot you mentioned about these and I'm glad you dropped them even if it took me a month to get back! :o I don't have much input on my end, considering I didn't know about any of these deities until right now, but judging by your descriptions, your reasoning is solid. The one that I could be like, 'hmm', is probably Dheghom- Earth Goddesses and Mother Earth, there's a lot of conceptual ties of this kind of deity to Space specifically, but also Void works really well based on your description, so like, Space would almost be thematic more than fitting.
Either way, this is giving me a whole bunch of stuff to look up on Wikipedia later, but on a cursory glance, I do like your takes here. X3
