I'm excited for the game but sooooo annoyed by the PR. like yes i believe the devs love the characters and I'm sure I will too but I feel insane for feeling like the only one who cares if the game is fun and the mechanics are interesting and fresh. I like the relationships in bw games but certainly less than the average tumblr fan and apparently less than the devs I guess? I just don't see dragon age mass effect baldurs gate etc as dating sims i sometimes just want to kill demons and solve puzzles and optimize combat builds 😭

Trust me you're not alone in wanting interesting game mechanics, from what we saw in the gameplay reveal the fights do look engaging and like they'll be very different depending on player choice. I agree that it's really frustrating to see it as a dating sim and it's a shame that's what BG3 was turned into (although to be fair its plot wasn't that interesting and felt patchy imo)

I think that Dragon Age as a whole has been really good about delving into plot points and the lore within the games but I'm worried there's been a rot seated within it from expectations of BG3 by people who have never played a Dragon Age game before

As gen-AI becomes more normalized (Chappell Roan encouraging it, grifters on the rise, young artists using it), I wanna express how I will never turn to it because it fundamentally bores me to my core. There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.

At least, I don't expect it because I don't think of District 12 as a place that cares about me" girl you deliver strawberries to the Mayor, you hunt and trade for the district, when you fell at Prim being chosen someone caught you, when you went to Prim people parted for you, when you volunteered EVERYONE stopped. There’s that post that’s like ‘everyone should get into a tiny niche fandom at least once’ fully agree, that was really fun -- but I would like to add that everyone should get into a fandom where their opinions run counter to major fanon because it really teaches you about sticking to your guns and trusting your interpretation of the text without having to rely on peer validation
