have we ever thought abt the fact that zuko is literally azula's older brother. like she's his little sister. that's his little sister. throughout a big, big part of atla plot, he was actively running away, scared of his little sister killing him because he KNEW she would/could. can you imagine that? your little sibling, wanting more your father's approval than your companionship to the point of death? every time they fought, zuko was fighting his baby sister. azula was fighting her big brother. this is making me so sick. they were 16 and 14 years old.
#avatar the last airbender#atla#atla zuko#atla azula#zuko#azula#hey look i posted a thing#the absolute maddening grief of it all. like what do u mean??? thats his lil baby sister!!! what the fuck!!!#when she was a bby he was probably so protective and they were so small n they must have loved each other then#before the responsibilities ozai put on them. before all that. they were siblings. they loved each other.#until they were taught that did not matter. zuko learned that it did again#despite all the pain of it#azula actively ran away from learning it from feeling that pain#because she would rather be hated and feared and powerful than to ever be weak ever#this is so heartbreaking#i think this hits especially hard cuz me n my sis are like 2/3 years apart in age. like. i could not imagine having to fight her to the dea#i just couldnt. i rly rly couldnt

Iâm obsessed with this show and fear a hyperfixation anyways here are my thoughts on every character in the show
Edwin Paine: forever my favorite, even back before the show when I read the comics! I think itâs funny that basically every man in the show wants him? Iâm intrigued by his character arc throughout the story regarding his sexuality as despite dying in 1916, he seems to have had time to slowly become more accepting of gay people (Iâm guessing in part due to Charles, who is pansexual), to the point where thereâs only mild internalized homophobia if at all, which just exhibits itself in him denying any possible feelings for Monty. I love how face-value and logical he is while still being a sweetheart
Charles Rowland: he has a pan flag pin on his jacket which confuses me bc can ghosts only wear clothes they wouldâve worn when they were alive, or how do ghost clothes work? Because he died in 1989 and Iâm near positive he didnât wear that pin back there. Anyways I do love him but I wonder about some design choices, like the one earring (not sure why it just kinda annoys me). That was more a rant abt his design than his character, which I have nothing notable to say abt since I LOVE HIM heâs so real
Crystal Palace: sometimes she was a bit annoying the way she was trying way too hard to pry into everyoneâs lives, but honestly that was just momentary annoyance since nothing could make me hate her. I love how her past was slowly revealed (as someone who already knew it from the comics) and how she came to terms with the person she used to be vs the person she is now. Sheâs so cool!
David the demon: honestly kind of caught me off guard at first bc the person Iâm dating is named David but I actually enjoyed his character. LOVED when Crystal dealt with him in the end. He was very interesting
Niko Sasaki: I love Niko, but I have some problems with her character. First of all, I feel like ditsy anime-loving cutesy Asian girl with dyed hair is a weirdly common trope? But whatever my main issue is that it feels like characters who normalize the fetishization of gay men are so common. Like if Niko had been a guy obsessed with lesbian manga evb would be weirded out, so why is it different? If we ignore all of this tho I absolutely adore her and Iâm actually praying sheâs in the next season bc she was one of my favorites (esp her relationship w Edwin)
Jenny: She is so hot and cool and funny Iâm in love with her
Esther: oh my god words cannot come close to describing how much I love her character. She felt powerless and weak in the past and now sheâs become obsessed with making sure nobody has that power over her ever again. She was so fun and I loved her attitude! Iâm sure she wonât show up next season, as she was the main antagonist of s1, and while I love her, I kind of hope she doesnât since I think her arc was finished.
Monty: His personality was like 2020 âsoft boyâ who acts nice and dumb but is lowkey a manipulator. So obviously this kind of made me like â ïž bc why is he acting like that⊠but I still love him to bits because heâs just a crow guys he didnât ask to be human,, Anyways yeah his personality annoys me but also I love him so much so? Itâs confusing. ITS COMPLICATED. I will cry if heâs not in s2
Kingham and Litty: I honestly thought they were annoying but I canât lie they were so fucking funny. Every time they were on screen I laughed.
Cat King: oh my god. He is so camp. I love him. Thereâs honestly not much to say he is simply iconic. Love how heâs afraid to be alone so chases after other people, heâs so real AGHH I love him
Night Nurse: Ruth Connell the woman you are⊠đ she reminds me of Muriel from Good Omens, in a way, and I love her! I really hope we get to see more of her in relation to the guy in the fish, and see her get to better understand human emotions and why they choose to cling onto the human world rather than pass on!

Why I cannot accept Alina Starkov as a protagonist
I have a love-hate relationship with Alina's character. Mostly hate though. I loved the few bright moments she had but I absolutely loathed the moments where she was came off as an utterly selfish, unsympatheic, sanctimonious brat which dried up the any pity I had for her.
When I think of Alina, the analogy that comes to my mind is elephants. When elephants are tamed their handlers use an interesting strategy. The handlers use the heaviest iron chains that are too strong for the young calves to break away to tether them. The young calves try as they might to break free, soon realise that the chains are stronger than them and give up. They slowly start to live within the limits of the chain. However as the elephants reach adulthood, the trainers switch to normal, lightweight chains to tie them up because, by now the elephants have been fully trained to believe that they are too weak to breakaway. So the elephants rarely ever attempt to test the strength of the chains or even attempt to escape. The elephants having forgotten the strength they posses, learn to live within the limits of the chains.
Alina is just like those elephants. She has the power of the Sun coursing through her veins and yet instead of raising up to the situation, she actively chooses to remain stagnant. She remains tethered with her one-sided affection for Mal, her crippling self esteem issues, her shame of having 'impure thoughts' and, her fear of becoming something more than she had imagined. Eventhough the chains does not help her realise her true potential or even give her room to breathe, she is unable to comprehend anything beyond it and remain fearful to breakfree.
Had she been a side character, then, all of these flaws would not have mattered. But she is the protagonist and the entire triology moves forward through her. I'm not belittling her fears but the problem with the Chosen One trope is that at one point, the Chosen One is supposed to break away from their shackles and overcome these fears as the story progresses. Because, the story is not about the Chosen One, it is about the cause they are representing. But with Alina we never see that growth and so the cause she represents remains unfulfiled. Rather than becoming the one moving the story forward, she becomes an elephant in the hands of her handlers- Nikolai, Mal, Zoya, Apparat etc. She goes where they direct her to.
We see her passiveness cause actual detriment to the story as she is directed to side with the 'good guys' instead of representing the suppressed people who sees her as a beacon of hope. And in the end her life or death did not impact the cause she represented.
People may say that she suceeded in killing the Darkling and took down the Fold. But neither was her true purpose. She was supposed to be the one who bridged the gap between the otkazats'ya and the Grisha. And so, her victory in the final battle does not satisfy the end goal as the person she killed also wanted the same.
By defeating the Darkling, she no longer becomes the Chosen One. Instead she becomes an instrument of the oppressor who actively wants to maintain the status of the monarchy which in turn thrived on the Grisha serfdom. From a passive protagonist she becomes a passive antagonist. And in the end of it all she serves no purpose to herself or the people she was supposed to uplift and goes back to her chained elephant life with Mal as her new handler.
And this is why I could never accept Alina as the protagonist.

We all know what happen with Cronus and Rhea relationship, how do you think Cronus brothers treat their wives and family?
whenever i received a hc-request related to the titans, i do a little weird dance and scream inside my head because im so excited to talk about them hee hee
ok. i'm just gonna start with Kronos x Rhea to begin with, because it's been a while since i talked the Couple of the Year, and it's just easier for me to get my thoughts going. the rest of the titans follow the [read more] break... i didn't want to clog people's dashes :)
KRONOS x RHEA:
BEFORE everything went bad, BEFORE Kronos was even born (remembering that he is the youngest of the Titans, and was born last), i love the idea that Rhea herself was always a mischief maker and she naturally got along with Iapetus who was the Family Prankster (much to Oceanus' despair T-T).
so when Kronos was born, and it turned out he was even more wily and cunning than Iapetus, i think Rhea and Kronos just had a natural thing going from the start.
Rhea, to me, is super intelligent and witty. so is Kronos. so i like the idea that, in their youth, they were quite the prankster duo. Kronos would play pranks on Rhea, and Rhea would one-up him, and then Oceanus would get mad at them both.
i don't see Kronos and Rhea as being "overly romantic". Kronos doesn't call Rhea by any gushy nicknames or anything; i think they both would hate that. they'd much rather poke fun at each other and tease each other.
i think Rhea has a quick temper, and i love the idea of Kronos intentionally getting on her nerves because he thinks its cute when she gets annoyed lmfao
as a husband, i think it's far more bittersweet to imagine that Kronos was a great husband pre-insanity. he was the saviour of the Titans; the only one gutsy enough to commit patricide and save his siblings from an eternity of terror and fear, never knowing when Ouranos would one day snap and decide to shove them ALL in Tartarus.
but he wasn't only a warrior. he loved Rhea. her death is what i have previously hc'd to be the awakening point of Kronos' powers; his need to save her allows him to travel back in time and fix his mistakes. so yeah he certainly treated her well.
faultwise, i think Kronos' worst trait is that he always has this super strong, fearless exterior. so when Ouranos tells Kronos that his children will rise up and overthrow him and enslave all his siblings, Kronos DOESN'T TELL Rhea this. he doesn't want to look weak in front of her. and i think he still has this idea that he needs to protect her.
i think it's important to remember that at this time, there were NO OTHER GODS. Nyx's children were alive, but not involved in the affairs of the titans. this was the first time in history a "takeover" had occurred. no one really knew what to do. Kronos didn't know what to do. all he knew was that he was the leader, and he had to protect his siblings at all costs.
i hc that Kronos and Rhea have always wanted children; i mean, the Earth was sort of just made up of 12 Titans, 3 Hecatoncheires, 3 Cyclops, 4 absent primordials, and 1 psycho pseudo-primordial with anger management problems. so i think there was definitely a need for the Titans to have their own families to populate the place.
but when Kronos and Rhea settle down as King and Queen, and Rhea starts talking about families, Kronos just indulges her without ever acknowledging his own fears. perhaps this is partly because he doesn't want to burden her, but i also think Kronos was just naturally paranoid and feared that if he spoke his worst fears aloud, they'd come true. so he'd keep them buried until it was too late and oops, he's swallowed his kids.
i think it's a real testament to Rhea that she forgives him after losing Hestia. well, maybe not forgives him, but she moves past it. i think it shows how much trust and love she had for him.. to stick around after all of that. she truly adored him. of course, we all know how that story ends with them.. so i'll stop there. but yeah, i think pre-insanity, Kronos was a good husband and Rhea was an excellent wife. and their downfall was Kronos' inability to express every part of himself to his wife, fears included.
OCEANUS x TETHYS:
THE most unproblematic couple of all time.
Oceanus treats Tethys like,, well, a goddess.
Oceanus is the firstborn Titan. he was the guy who raised all his 11 little brothers and sisters. he fed them, clothed them, taught them, played with him, disciplined them. he was the guy who was there for the first time they cried, the first time they laughed, the first time they fought, the first time they lost. needless to say, that kinda makes a guy.... patient, kind, respectful, thoughtful.
i'm a younger sibling myself, and i know that many older siblings work their butts off to take care of their little siblings... and that can be a pain. but i love the idea that Oceanus enjoyed every second of it. it was the most IMPORTANT duty Gaia ever gave him; to look after them.
11 siblings is a lot. so i think that Oceanus never really ever had any time for himself... but when Tethys comes along, i love the idea that she is sort of the only one of her siblings who actually realises fully how much work Oceanus does for them. and she does everything she can to make his burden lighter.
Oceanus normally has a hard exterior, but i hc that with Tethys, he fully relaxes. the full range of his emotions, he shows to Tethys, who is his confidant, his other half.
i think their communication skills are soo good. that's why they last for eternity without any real fights.
obviously, after having 11 siblings, that Oceanus would have his own children, no one could doubt. he was so good at it. and of course, he does... he has like 1000s of kids hee hee.
Oceanus knows every single one of his children's names, he could recognise them by their laugh alone... i think these are the things that make him the complete opposite of Ouranos and that's SO important for his character.
fault-wise, i think maybe Oceanus' only weakness is that he's a bit over-protective. for Hera, for example, i've always liked the idea that Oceanus hates Zeus; this all makes sense, of course, when you consider Zeus' history, and also that Zeus killed Oceanus' daughter Metis. so i get it. but i also think he's like that for all of his kids... heavily scrutinising their partners etc. (see Iapetus x Asia below!) but yeah. even this "weakness" is up for debate. but i personally think Oceanus may be justified in this.
COEUS x PHOEBE:
i always hc'd Coeus as very shy and timid. he is the most intelligent of all the Titans,,, but he cannot hold a conversation to save his life.
i think Coeus was usually the victim of Iapetus and Kronos' jokes in their youth, even though he's the 2nd oldest, because he just naturally is a very passive and soft god with an aversion to fighting.
Phoebe is a lot like him, i suppose, because she's also a bit shy. but i do like the idea that Phoebe has a little more gutsiness than him when she is really pushed. she can fight, when provoked.
because of this, i truly think Phoebe is the pillar in their relationship. any doubts that Coeus has, i think he would bring it to Phoebe.
i think he would tell her almost anything... and he is inspired by her strength during the Titanomachy to also take up arms against Kronos when he goes mad.
Coeus' kids are Asteria, Leto, and Lelantos. Asteria and Leto are both quite headstrong goddesses... i think Leto, especially, is quite boisterous, which is fascinating considering Phoebe and Coeus' mild natures. but i think their children are reflections of their hidden strengths.
Coeus is a good father, i think. Phoebe is a good mother. i think all of this is attested by the kind and elegant nature of Asteria, Leto's righteousness, and Lelantos' innocence.
also, a bit unrelated i guess, but Phoebe is the kinda gal to call her husband by gooey petnames HAHA and Coeus is too shy to ever say he likes it when she does that, but he does. and she knows it. it came to her in a prophecy ;)
CRIUS x EURYBIA:
winners of the Most Enigmatic and Mysterious Couple of the Year.
Crius and Eurybia are a lot of fun to make up stuff about because there's literally no lore for either one.
Crius, to me, is quiet. but it's not because he's shy. he's just reserved. he doesn't like talking if there's no reason to talk.
yes. he hates small talk.
Eurybia, however, is the opposite! i think she talks LOADS. she loves talking. or singing. she loves asking all sorts of useless and dumb questions, especially to Crius because she knows it irritates him... she loves messing with him.
for example, Crius, as the god of the stars and constellations, is always star gazing and recording the movement of the planets, etc. and even though Eurybia knows exactly how it works (Crius has explained it to her many times, it's one of the few things he actually likes actively talking about), she'll still point at the constellation of the Ram and say, "that's the donkey one, right?" and Crius will try not to scream.
i can't remember if i wrote about how they met, but basically, i think Kronos divided the land into North, East, South and West: Coeus in the North, Iapetus in the East, Crius in the South, and Hyperion in the West. and while wandering about across his land in the South, Crius randomly came across Eurybia while she was by one of the rivers that flow through his land, and she was just so fascinating to him, and he was just so interesting to her, they just naturally clicked.
because Crius is such a reserved guy, i honestly think, Crius isn't all that forthcoming about everything. this is because Crius only says things that he deems "need to be said".
so, as Kronos' 2nd right-hand man (after Iapetus, obvs), i think Crius is privileged with a lot of information. and he doesn't share a lot of it with Eurybia, only the things that are relevant to her.
for example, Crius wouldn't tell Eurybia that Kronos locked up the Hecatoncheires (a pivotal event marking the growing paranoia of Kronos) because it doesn't have anything to do with Eurybia, but Crius does tell her of his suspicions that there is a resistance growing against Kronos, and that he feels their son Pallas is part of it (which is true) because Pallas is their son and this involves Eurybia.
for Eurybia's part, i think she has never cared much for "titan business". Eurybia, being the daughter of Gaia and Pontus, is NOT a titan. so i hc that she isn't really concerned at all about Crius' secrecy. she is aware of it, but she is 100% confident in his love for her (which is true, he does love her) and trusts him implicitly. and if she had reason to suspect that Crius was not being true to himself, only then would she confront him.
now to the children: Pallas, Astraeus, and Perses. Pallas and Perses are a lot like Crius, and Astraeus is a lot like Eurybia. Crius and Eurybia love all their children... BUT. Crius is very... stoic. i don't think he has ever actually told his children (or Eurybia for that matter) that he loves them, they all simply know it by way of his actions.
as a father, i think Crius pushes his children all the time to be the best they can be. for him, Ouranos' terror was not all that long ago. he doesn't want them to be weak and defenseless. he needs to know that they can save themselves. he also expects that they will follow Kronos as he does, because Kronos saved them all, and Crius is loyal to him.
so i think, when the war finally comes about, and Crius is fighting against Pallas and Astraeus, and not alongside them, it's a terrible betrayal for Crius. and i think he rejects them as his sons then. so not the greatest father of all time.
now Perses does fight with Crius, and he is loyal to Kronos. and i think Crius is forever wondering how things could have gone so wrong when clearly one of his sons is still loyal.
when Kronos is freed from Tartarus and becomes King of Elysium under Zeus' orders, his siblings go with him. and though things will never be the same, and Crius will never see his children again. i like the idea that in his heart, he feels pride for Pallas and Astraeus fighting for what they believed, and he forgives them.
for Eurybia, i think she has always loved and adored her husband and her children. and lets them know that every step of the way. i love the idea of her fighting alongside Crius, less because she cares about Kronos and more because she supports her husband (and also, i needed at least 1 goddess being punished in Tartarus.. there were too many men T-T). BUT. even though she has to fight her own sons, it's not a betrayal to her. she is SO proud that they stuck to their guns. that they wouldn't sacrifice their morals and beliefs just to avoid confrontation with their parents.
Eurybia fights against Pallas and Astraeus with a smile on her face, and she throws everything she has at them because, when they face her in battle, they are gods in their own right, and they are her equals. she's equally proud of Perses for staying true to what he believes in; to her, this is the most important thing in the world, to be true to yourself.
post-war, Pallas' daughter is named Bia, and i love the idea that he named her for his mother, so he definitely admired his mum and her strength. curiously, Bia ends up being a very loyal supporter of Zeus during a time that the 2nd gen. titans fall OUT with Zeus due to Prometheus being punished, so Crius' family is full of gods who put their family ties on the line to do what they think is right. which i kinda like! ((Pallas and Prometheus are the best of friends. practically brothers.))
so yeah, i think Eurybia's a different sort of mum, but i personally think she's one of the best :)
HYPERION x THEIA:
hmmm.. what to say about these two. honestly i think they're a pretty normal couple.
Theia's a goddess who loves jewels and sparkly things and i can see Hyperion always showering her with gifts. that's their love language.
they don't really have too much trouble. Hyperion isn't one of Kronos' most loyal supporters... i think if Hyperion was privy to what he had done to Rhea, Hyperion would have immediately been on Team Zeus.
in their regular life, i think both Hyperion and Theia are very good to each other. they're open with each other, and they have a lot of trust.
their children are Selene, Eos, and Helios. i think that, from all the 2nd gen. titans, these three are the most "spoiled". i truly think Hyperion is an adoring and doting father.
side-track for one sec: if you're familiar with the myth where Medea kills her own children to get revenge on Jason for marrying Creusa behind her back, you know how taboo filicide is, and YET, Helios saves his babygirl granddaughter and gives her a chariot ride away from the scene. truly Helios loved all his children and lineage. i think he HAS to get this from Hyperion, who in turn had to get it from the only father he knows: Oceanus.
also, with the way Eos casually takes the mortal prince Tithonus and others against their wills because she's in love with them.. there is a myth where she only does this because Aphrodite cursed her because of some other disagreement to have insatiable sexual desire, but even in light of this, she's definitely a girl who's used to getting what she wants.
BUT IN SAYING ALL OF THAT, i think Hyperion and Theia are good, kind people. if Hyperion and Theia learned to be good parents from Oceanus, then they had to learn his kindness too. and i do think that Selene, Eos, and Helios share this trait with them too.
in Medea's myth, i think Helios KNOWS that Medea was pushed into that horrible tragedy; she was cursed with a love spell that made her commit both patricide and fratricide for Jason, whom she never would have helped without it. and after all that, he still ditched her. so yes, i think Helios having sympathy for his granddaughter was justified.
FURTHERMORE, in Persephone's abduction myth, Hekate takes Demeter to Helios to learn where Persephone is and he tells her.. similarly, Helios tells Hephaestus about Aphrodite's affair with Ares... these are things that Helios doesn't truly have to do, but i picture him doing it with such kindness and gentleness.. i think he's a caring guy.
with Eos, i think after she gives Tithonus immortality, even though he starts to age, she still STAYS with him, and takes care of him even after her fascination with him has died... i think that is a lot more than most other gods do after playing around with their favourite mortal.
Selene is relatively problem-free (? dont quote me on that pls idk what exactly is going on with Endymion's myth HAHA) which i feel can only serve to support the idea that Hyperion's kids are PRETTY good.
so yeah. all in all. pretty good family. Hyperion (and Theia)'s biggest weakness, i think, is that they were so caught up in their own bliss, they didn't see any of the signs that could've suggested the impending doom of Kronos lurking on the horizon.
IAPETUS x ASIA:
winners of the Most Unexpected Couple of the Year.
ok so. Asia is an Oceanid. and as i already wrote before, Oceanus is fiercely protective of his children. and Iapetus... well, Iapetus is Iapetus.
i think Iapetus was a bit of a late-bloomer when it came to love. i think he was the last one of the elder Titans to marry because for the most part, he was just interested in joking around and having fun.
but after everyone starts to get married and have families, and Kronos becomes King so he doesn't have any time for trivial pranks, i think it starts to settle in with Iapetus that he needs to get along with his life.
i have a hc that Oceanus would, pre-Kronos-insanity-era, regularly hold these dinners for his siblings so that everyone would still come together with their newly established families to share meals together like they used to. and of course, that meant that all of Oceanus' children would be there too.
and i like the idea that Iapetus, ever eager for an audience to entertain, would always come up with some trick or the other to make Oceanus' children laugh. and now that Oceanus didn't really have to keep an eye over Iapetus anymore, he could afford to smile at his tricks too :)
now. i have said a few times that the gods don't age the way humans do. it's not linear. gods mature according to the needs of the time. so even though Iapetus is, technically, a lot older than Oceanus' children, he doesn't appear like it because.. as i said.. Iapetus himself wasn't really ready to settle into life and be an adult.
anyhow. Asia is one of Oceanus' sweetest daughters. her humour threshold is so LOW. she will laugh at even the worst of jokes... and Iapetus is a GOLDMINE for bad jokes. so i think, Iapetus was always guaranteed a smile and enthusiasm when he saw her.
i think Oceanus was very annoyed by this... he didn't really want one of his daughters to be hanging around with a god whom he personally knew was a bit of a no-gooder. so i think Oceanus really put Iapetus through the ringer to show that, if he was serious about Asia, he could be a good husband and treat her properly.
and through that process, i think Iapetus did mature out, and show that behind the jokes, he truly was kind and loyal, and as the Ruler of the East, he could provide a good home for Asia. and so it was!
now Iapetus definitely loved Asia. all the titans loved their wives to begin with. BUT, Iapetus' problem was Kronos.
being the right-hand man of a psycho tends to rub off on you.
i think that Kronos' paranoia seeped into Iapetus' mind too. and as Kronos began to put distance between himself and Rhea, so did Iapetus with Asia. suddenly, Iapetus didn't feel like he needed to tell his wife everything... keeping Kronos' secrets was more important to Iapetus than being truthful to his wife.
to be honest, i don't imagine Asia being particularly smart, or fierce or courageous. not every god needs to be a superhero. that's not to say she was dumb or anything, but no one was calling Asia to weigh in on war councils or anything like that. and i think, as time goes on, this becomes very apparent to Iapetus. and he thinks that makes her weak. and as her husband, it's his responsibility to shield her from the things that he think could break her.
now in this regard, i do think Asia would have been absolutely heart-broken to know the kinds of gods Iapetus and Kronos had become, and post-war, Asia still is never fully aware of the extent of Iapetus' crimes because Prometheus and Anchiale make sure their mother will only remember her husband for the good things... leading up to and during the war, Iapetus is a MASTER of illusion and deceit.. and by Gaia he can play the role of a good husband amazingly well. so Asia i think, was totally blind to the truth.
Asia and Iapetus' children are: Prometheus, Atlas, Anchiale, Menoetius, and Epimetheus. Iapetus would never SAY he had favourites, but i do think Prometheus was his golden child. he was smart, witty, cunning, mischievous, and with a natural talent for illusions and magic, the same as Iapetus. so i think he had a lot of pride for Prometheus, and so many huge expectations that Prometheus would be some sort of powerful commander in Kronos' army.
when it became apparent that Kronos and Rhea were not having much luck in producing heirs (though the exact reasons were yet unknown), i think Iapetus might've considered that Prometheus could be the heir that Kronos needed... he would have been a perfect candidate. and Kronos himself had a super great relationship with Prometheus as a child. Prometheus didn't call Kronos "King" or "my Lord" like most of his cousins did, he called him "Uncle" because that's what he was.
AND YET. Prometheus also had all of Asia's kindness. mixed with Iapetus' bravery... he could never be the god that Iapetus wanted him to be.
in the Titanomachy, i think Prometheus is the one to fight Iapetus and it is... like the world falls apart. i think Iapetus is so furious that his son could betray him, i think he disowns him in his heart for sure. but Prometheus doesn't. he loves his father like he loves his uncle, and he knows that their current corrupted state is not a reflection of the gods they truly are.
as for the other kids: Atlas is Iapetus' 2nd most cunning child, and i think he's almost like Prometheus EXCEPT that Atlas is cowardly. even as a child. and i think Iapetus always tries to push Atlas to overcome this: it's important because if any one of the elder Titans had shown cowardice, they would have failed in their fight against Ouranos. so Iapetus truly despises cowardly people. Atlas ends up giving himself up and helping Zeus at the 11th hour to save his hide, and i think that's another disappointment for Iapetus.
Menoetius is headstrong, but he's not too witty, so i think he could've been closer to Asia than Iapetus... nevertheless, he supports his father to the end because all of Iapetus' children are aware of how much he values loyalty. and though Menoetius couldn't do the tricks Prometheus and Atlas could, he showed Iapetus his worth by standing with Kronos till the end. he's actually the only one of Iapetus' 5 children to show such undying loyalty, the same as Iapetus has for Kronos. so Iapetus appreciates that.
Anchiale and Epimetheus are more soft in nature. Anchiale is smart but she doesn't care too much for trickery, and i think she doesn't like confrontation and violence, the same as her mother. i give her this attribute to explain why the Lore doesn't give Anchiale much of a role. but where Iapetus doesn't share much with his wife Asia because he thinks her weak, Prometheus does share with his sister Anchiale all his thoughts and his desire to fight against Kronos, and though she's unwilling to pick up a sword herself, she stays with her mother and little brother Epimetheus and protects them from home, and she covers for Prometheus: which i think is an alternative form of bravery, but bravery nonetheless. and if Iapetus wasn't such an idiot, he would've been proud of that.
Epimetheus i think was a child when Iapetus went to Tartarus. his only memories of Iapetus is being a good dad; a dad who tells him jokes, and scary stories, and who could make a coin appear from his ear. i don't think Prometheus and Anchiale ever try to spoil these memories for him. it's good for Epimetheus to remember Iapetus for who he was and not who he ended up as.
anyhow. all in all, Iapetus was probably the 2nd worst husband after Kronos... this is to be expected given their proximity.... but uh yeah.
i hope this all made sense lol feel free to send an ask if u want a clarification on anything ^-^ i have terminal brainrot about the titans and can speak forever and ever about them.

Luminara and the Dark Side
Luminara has in more recent years been getting a bad rap. Iâm not all that familiar with Star Wars canon, but from what I gather it has to do with a perceived lack of affection towards others, this is a contrast to her appearance in legends where she was a rather kind woman.
Regardless today I want to talk about an excerpt from the book Medstars a book starring Barriss Offee, another character whoâs backstory and personality was wildly changed from the old EU.
There seems to be a common misconception amongst some in the fanbase that the dark side is something which can easily be used, or that if one has good reason to one can slip into dark side techniques for a moment. This couldnât be farther from the truth as Luminara states to Barriss in the books.
If you remember nothing else from this talk, Barriss, remember this: Power wants to be used. It must be kept under constant vigil, else it will seduce and corrupt you. One moment youâre swatting an annoying training toy; the next youâre paralyzing an offending beingâs lungs and choking him to death. You do it because you can. It becomes an end in itself. As a Jedi, you live always on this edge. A single misstep, and you can fall to the dark side. It has happened to many, and it is always a tragedy. As with an addictive drug, itâs too easy to say, âIâll do it just this once.â Thatâs not how it works. The only thing that stands between you and the dark side is your own will and discipline. Give in to your anger or your fear, your jealousy or your hate, and the dark side claims you for its own. If that happens,â Master Unduli said, âyou will become an enemy to all that the Jedi stand forâand an enemy of all Jedi who hold to the path of right.
Barriss moved to assume the pose. She said, âAnd have you ever given in to the dark side, Master?â
For a few seconds, there was silence. Then: âYes. In a moment of weakness and pain, I did. It allowed me to survive when I might have perished otherwise, but that one taste was enough for me to realize I could never do it again. There may come a time when you experience this, Barriss. I hope not, but if ever it happens, you must recognize and resist it.â
âIt will feel evil?â
Master Unduli paused in her stretch. She regarded Barriss with what seemed to be great sadness in her eyes. âOh, no. It will feel better than anything you have ever experienced, better than you would have thought anything could feel. It will feel empowering, fulfilling, satisfying. Worst of all, it will feel right. And therein lies the real danger.â
There does seem to be some sort of disconnect with the fanbase, especially a seeming fascination with grey Jedi. However, we can quite clearly see what the dark side actually is, one cannot find themselves using any aspect of the dark side, without falling to its temptations.
The dark side is like a drug, using it leads to one wanting to use it more, no matter how noble the intentions start at first.

Mutual Distrust
Whumptober Day 2: Trust issues
Content: Whumper-turned-whumpee, transformation (past, demon to human), hygiene things (nonhuman learning about human hygiene), sadism
Reverb had no reason to trust the Mystery Skulls, just as much as they had no reason to trust him. The tensions between them were clear as day, uncomfortable in every moment. It was obvious they wouldnât let up on him anytime soon. Hell, heâd been trapped in a spell circle until they realized theyâd have to let him use the bathroom and stretch his legs.
Honestly though, any freedom he was allowed was inconvenient to them all. He knew it and they did too. Arthur was terrified of him, Lewis would rather want him dead than look him in the eyes, and Vivi was tasked with keeping him out of trouble. The whole group was a cohesive unit of unease.
Oh, and he couldnât forget Mystery. The kitsune was always in the way, making sure he couldnât try anything. He was the only creature here that would actually help the former demon with anything, bless his poor, ancient soul. Not that Reverb really wanted help. He didnât. Help meant pity. Sure, it was great, but only if you wanted to look weak and helpless. Which he was. Undoubtedly. It was honestly disgusting. Human bodies needed so much upkeep Reverb never needed to worry about until now.
That upkeep was, in his opinion, one of the worst things about his new form. Some of it was downright nauseating. He had no business with the ins and outs of a corporeal form, but now there was no way to live without that. Heâd learned and seen things he believed no demon should ever need to know. Heâd done things that he would be endlessly mocked for. Scrubbing his body, brushing his (ugly and flat) teeth, combing knots out of his hair â demeaning tasks that only served to exemplify just how fragile he was.
If he didnât wash himself, his hair turned greasy and Lewis would comment on it in this grating combination of smug and hateful. Lewis could even physically look down on him when he wasnât being absolutely insufferable about how detestable Reverb was.
He could almost pity the three humans for being made out of something that had more in common with tissue paper than anything else, but heâd rather not because then by some twisted logic, heâd be a victim of that pity too. Oh, and also he didnât care. Heâd rather not. He hated the three of them, and Mystery was on thin ice just for being so awkwardly mothering. The kitsune hadnât even shown a shred of hatred towards him and it was infuriating. He should be filled with just as much disgust as the rest of them.
Okay well sure, Arthur and Vivi werenât disgusted, he supposed⊠but it still felt that way. They didnât trust him and all three treated him like a cross between an animal, a serial killer, and a glass statuette.
Arthur avoided him, actually. Just the sight of Reverb was enough to make the man go tense, to make the atmosphere in the room change. Reverb heard his stutter get worse, saw him tremble slightly even when he held his ground, watched him avert his eyes. It made him feel powerful. At least someone feared him still. Even if it made some part of him twist uncomfortably, he enjoyed drawing out Arthurâs fear. He hoped he left a scar on him and he liked poking at it, satisfied when he watched him flinch. He did that.
There was a certain pride in a job well done when it came to inflicting this fear and aversion. But there was also a petty resentment he felt whenever Arthur walked on eggshells around him, because he knew Arthur pitied him. He pitied Reverb! He worried about his well-being, the well-being of this monster who had ruined his life and it was abhorrent. How dare he. How dare he pity him!
Vivi might have been worse. Not only did she share some of Lewisâs distaste for him, but she also wanted to use him as an opportunity to learn. She wanted to study him like a child studies a bug under a magnifying glass, but if you substituted âbugâ for âdemon.â Absolutely humiliating.
Heâd heard her talking to the others about him when he was trapped in one of her stupid spell circles, hungry and aching from sitting on the ground. They were talking about what to do with him even though they already agreed they couldnât let him go free. Vivi decided she could keep him in her home, sealed inside the spell circle with Mystery to keep watch â and if he could play nice, theyâd give him more freedoms. It would be perfect, she said. Obviously he would have to be motivated to improve if he had so many restrictions upon him. And in such a unique situation, she could learn so much, and really how hard could it be to keep track of him? It would be like taming an unruly animal, wouldnât it?
She so desperately wanted to look into demons, especially after all that had happened recently. Obviously she wanted to know more to prevent something bad from happening again, to protect her loved ones. Reverb had seen it himself, her drive to put everyone above herself, to be infallible. It was laughable. She was always to blame.
And so Reverb refused to get better. Everyone expected him to earn respect, and he wanted nothing to do with it. Screw earning respect, screw âprivileges.â He hated the very idea of stooping to such a level. It wasnât only fun to mess with everyone, it was who he was at his core level. There were no layers to peel back. He was a demon. What did they expect?
They couldnât keep him down forever. Eventually, heâd find a way out of here, out of this body, even if he had to keep pushing back and resisting. There was nothing here for him. This was merely a transition point, an obstacle in his path; he was using them all and once his life had been fixed, he would ditch these sad losers!
It didnât matter that everything felt wrong and constricting, didnât matter if it felt like his brain had been rearranged, remade, didnât matter that suddenly he was feeling and breathing and blinking and thinking and dying, it didnât matter! It was temporary. This was all temporary. For now, he could stand the unease. The mutual distrust. It was a bitter comfort among things arguably more bitter. He could stand being hated. Heâd done it so many times before.
Heâd do it again, gladly.

Rupelali's promise in Ch 33
Some clarification on this part of the debutante arc:
Some readers think it's a plot hole/contradiction that Lari has thoughts of leaving the palace (debutante arc), and how she so easily left Rupe (Secrets arc), even though in Ch 32-33, she begged him so much to allow her to stay by his side, she'll give up herself/her freedom to him/he owns her, and how in Ch 60-78, well into S3, she worked hard to show him her loyalty and wanting to gain his trust and truly be "his person" to earn his favor and protection for her and her family. The thing is, is that the promise the two made, for her to become wholly his in Ch 32ish, when they were 12-13 had changed over time.
The thing is, back when Rupert was 13. He had NOTHING for himself. He was an incredibly lonely person, who had no friends or family, and had no one he could trust. Lari knew that all he had was Louis - a military dog - and Tori, his close confidante. She quickly realized that he wanted someone to talk to - a companion. She was also desperate - she had nothing to offer besides herself. She's not strong, rich, has no political power, no knowledge. Typical of this society, for someone who had nothing - especially a female - she offered herself to him: Her body and soul, her existence to him. She will BELONG to him, one of his possessions. In exchange, he will protect her and her family from harm if they were to be accused of treason again. She gambles that the future Rupert will be reasonable, that he'll take their long friendship in consideration and not swiftly execute.
Despite knowing how suspicious she was, Rupert still accepted the offer because he craved companionship and a sense of normalcy. It's not like the weak Lari could ever harm him anyway. He just wanted someone not given/handed down to him by Eva to belong to HIM. He desperately wanted someone who was loyal to him, who wouldn't betray him - and the best way to ensure that, is for him to possess them so they won't betray him first. That's the twisted relationship the two shared. That's how their relationship started. Neither would have ever dreamed or expected how much the situation would change in just 5 years.
Rupert never expected that he would start to develop special feelings for Lari. Those feelings confused him so much: his rapidly developing feelings were so new to him, that he mistook "love" for "obsession". The stronger his feelings, the more jealous he felt when she didn't give him as much attention as she could've, he wanted her to confide in him, rely on him, talk to him as much as he wanted to towards her. He didn't know how to deal with this feelings: All he could understand was he "wanted her". he wanted to be with her all the time, he wanted her to stay beside him forever... Then there's the dilemma. All he knew of was the twisted "love" between the Emperor and Eva. He witnessed how Eva was broken down by that possessive, obsessed "love". The feelings he had for lari at age 15: he felt "similar" raw feelings like the desire to have her close and being intimate with her. But despite these feelings, Rupert was held back by the fact that he always knew Lari was scared of him, hated him even.
Knowing this, Rupe was stuck from the very start. He couldn't dare touch Lari because he was convinced the moment he inappropriately touched her, she would hate him more and run away secretly from him. He absolutely could not bear the thought of that. So he did what he thought was best - deny his feelings for her, act as if nothing had changed, and remind her that she belonged to him, to not run away.
But in doing so, those reminders caused Lari to worry, because she interpreted his fear as distrust, rather than him trying to plead with her to please stay with hm in the future too. During the debutante, Rupert finally admitted to her, that he was afraid she'd run away because she has no reason to stay. He wanted to reassure her that he'll protect her and her family as the soon-to-be Emperor to gain more of her trust, but he also had to tell her directly of his fears of her leaving. By that point, both Rupert and Lari knew that if she really wanted to, he wouldn't stop her from leaving. He couldn't. The moment he forces her to stay beside him, is the moment he will earn her resentment, fear, and hatred, the same things he's been trying to avoid since becoming crown prince.
Lari as well, thinks the situation will change. As a crown prince he doesn't have many allies yet, but soon, when he becomes Emperor, he'll be surrounded by lots of people and will form new bonds with them. Right now, he only has her, Tori, and Louis. As she's said for years, she won't leave him just yet, until he's happy. Otherwise he'll still be a lonely, sad Emperor like TL1. She at least, wants to stay beside him until he has more friends/companions to not need her anymore, and then she can leave and live her own life. She wouldn't leave before that though - she'd be too worried how he's doing. She still only thinks she's nothing special, and is just a person he trusts because of all the time they spent together. He may care for her a lot, but again, that's because of all their years together. After all, again, one he becomes Emperor he'll meet lots of new people, he'll be surrounded by those who want his companionship, the people will love him, and he'll be fulfilled that way.
During the separation arc, his decision to let her go so easily was already foreshadowed: he would never be able to chain Lari to the palace, to him. As much as he wants to selfishly keep her beside him, he can't because he loves her too much, and he cares more about her heart and happiness above all else.
It took him almost a whole year after the separation, but he realizes that as Lari doesn't hate him - or fear him- there's a spark of hope that maybe she'll learn to fall in love with him? that way, she can CHOOSE to stay beside him? He will no longer force or possess because if she returns his feelings, then she'll stay beside him and not want to leave either. Thus, by the time she returns to the palace, Rupert has already sorted out his feelings: he acknowledges them, his feelings for Lari, and instead of hiding away, he will seduce her with all his might and leave absolutely no doubt of his feelings for her. Maybe then, she will choose to stay beside him, but also keep her radiant smile as always :) So while their relation started off on the very twisted dynamic of Rupert "owning" Lari, in the end their relationship had reset during the separation. They were no longer master/maid. No longer fake Emperor/ fake Belois. They were simply Rupert and Lariette, and they redefined their relationship now as lovers. He no longer owns her - because he will NEVER cage her or limit her actions. She's simply Lariette. How dare he ever try to limit her actions.

Hey uh
I'm leaving my mask at the door for a minute
If you enjoy the image of myself I put forward, the happy cheery autistic trans girl who doesn't dwell on her issues
Please just ignore this post
If you are uncomfortable with mentions of self harm, talking about non prescription drug addiction, suicide rates of trans kids
Please just go
Look
I say my biggest fear is that I'll be forgotten
It's easier than saying that I'm scared to death of myself
I'm worried I'll give up on life and stop eating... considering I can't gain or maintain weight I'd have a week before I was dead at the most
I'm afraid that I'll give up trying to look like the person I want to be rather than being stuck, trapped in a body that isn't mine but I'm wired up to like some sick torture method
I don't want to fall into drug use or self harm hoping that it'd pull me out of this pit of self hatred and hopelessness
I don't wanna be another tally mark on the trans suicide charts
I don't wanna die
I feel like I'm suffocating
That I can't move my legs... only the ones attached to me
I don't even know if I matter at this point
I just
I wanna be me
Not some false image that I was born with
Nobody understands how it is for me
My dad almost killed me with th fact he understood so little he put me into survival mode where I cared about nothing but staying alive because of how much damage his insistence that my body was in fact his son and not the cage that trapped his daughter
He used to have twins now he just has one kid with her twin sister... my sister
Now I live with my mom who doesn't understand, how could she? She's never wanted to tear her skin off because it wasn't hers... she understands how much I hurt though
She's able to see through my mask that I'm really suffering inside
Without her yall wouldn't have ever known I existed
You would've heard a news article of a trans kid who killed herself by diving off the balcony at her school although the media would misgender me.
I've almost done it
Sitting on the edge of a lethal drop fighting with myself to not do it
Not sure if I was lying when i told myself things would get better
I'm not sure if they are
Everything just keeps getting worse and worse
I can't even cry anymore
I don't care about so many things that I used to
I used to love
Then I was heartbroken
I used to care for my friends
Until I moved away
I used to enjoy helping others
Now I'm so tired I can't
Just
Fuck
It's kinda funny
How part of me thinks it's all my fault
How I'm not sure if it's something I did
But then I have to think
What could I possibly have done that'd make this torment justified?
How can any higher power exist when I've prayed to every God and Goddess I've ever learned of and not once has a goddam thing happened
How would a higher power let the world get this fucked up
Fuckin hell
My trans siblings are getting murdered for being themselves
Innocent people who live in unfortunate places are being killed because of stupid ass reasons
Fucking hell in America most people aren't free enough to take a month off work without becoming homeless
Decades of prejudice make people think women are weak and need defending but don't pay them well because... fuckin I don't know why!
It's pathetic that men get away with rape while women get away with false rape accusations usually destroying every relationship the man ever cared about
People look at others and treat them differently based on the color of their skin
YA KNOW HOW FUCKIN STUPID THAT IS?!
ITS DUMBER THAN PICKING ON SOMEONE WHO WORE A BLUE SHIRT PURELY BECAUSE OF THE SHIRT
What for?!
WHAT THE FUCK IS ALL THIS FOR?!
The privilege to go through 12 to 20 years of school to earn the right to have to work a job I'll probably hate until I'm like 60?!
Right now I'm pretty sure my life is gonna end before I reach 30!
What's the fuckin point?!
America for fucks sake
The land of the free
Yeah free to work or die because the 0.01% run the fucking nation like their playground
People wonder why I've responded to hostility with hostility in the last 3 years
Simple
I've bottled my emotions for so long the bottles are all full
Yelling and ranting always make me feel a little better
If anyone comments on this negatively I hope you die in a vat of boiling vinegar and drown in the yolks of rotten eggs
That goes for all the phobic people too
If you made it through this whole essay sized emotional breakdown and don't think I'm a complaining winey bitch
I can only say I wish the world was made of more people like you
Alright
Time for sleep

Below is a reply I wrote elsewhere to someone who said they were present when the Austen run with Lorna in the 00s was going on. According to them, everyone hated Lorna, and there was no way to root for Lorna in any of the Austen stories until people "in retrospect" learned of the Genoshan genocide (which as I note below, readers would have known back then - New X-Men 132 was before Austen's run).
I'm posting it here because I think these things need to be kept in mind when reading Lorna stuff of the era, and when seeing people talk about it.
I wasn't there. I learned of Lorna in 2009, after everything transpired.
But as a Lorna fan who's got decades of media consumption under his belt, that dealt with similar situations in other communities, it's time for me to say something about this. And I'm going to start not with Lorna or X-Men or even Marvel, but with something else I'm a huge fan of that I dealt with.
Before Lorna, my favorite female character was Rosa Farrell from Final Fantasy IV. Unlike Lorna, I had been a fan of the character ever since the game released way back in 1991 on SNES as FF2. Why did I love the character? Because she was a caring badass. She crossed a desert to warn Cecil about Baron coming after him, and made it by herself, only coming down with Desert Fever which anyone could get! She helped Rydia get over her fear of fire with empathy that Cecil and Edward couldn't give! When Fabul was attacked by Baron, and Kain and Golbez almost killed the entire party then and there, Rosa sacrificed herself to save them and trusted Cecil to come save her. Her willingness to forgive and see good in people led to Kain helping them in their final fight. And when it came time to actually go to the final fight, rather than waste time arguing with Cecil, she stowed away on the Lunar Whale and confronted him about his sexism ("chivalrous" though it may have been intended) when it was too late for him and the others to keep her out of it. And then you factor in the gameplay and she's a literal lifesaver.
That's... not what most people I ran into online saw two decades ago. Because they didn't bother to pay attention to the story, or think it through. To most people I ran into, Rosa was nothing more than a weak damsel in distress who undermined Cecil's mission twice and had no depth to her beyond "loves Cecil." I saw a lot of people insist the game would have been better without her. Many of them also didn't realize that Rosa was THE template for caring female white mage lead heroines from FF7 to FF10 - another issue that meant they didn't see her unique traits, considering them to just be "typical white mage traits." So even though Aeris, Rinoa, Garnet and Yuna each had more damsel in distress scenarios with causes less understandable than Rosa's, that they had other aspects built on meant a lot of people didn't hold that against them like they did to Rosa.
In short, there was nothing wrong with how Rosa was written in the original FF4. She wasn't this frail weak flower who constantly needs saving that people made her out to be. She had more depth than that. People just lacked media literacy and rushed to judging her negatively.
What we're talking about here, with writing of Lorna in the Austen era? It's the Exact. Same. Thing.
She had JUST experienced a genocide. That is NOT something that was retroactive. Anyone with a sliver of media literacy, who put real thought into what they were reading and didn't misjudge her by past depictions, should have kept New X-Men 132 in mind. You don't need to see the explicit scenes of her watching all those millions die to understand that this woman who was just pulled out of the ruins, naked and suffering from the horrendous trauma of a genocide that she had to keep reliving as her powers replayed those final moments over and over, is going to have some issues. She's going to have trouble processing the pain. She's going to have mood swings. She's going to look for ways to ease the pain, she's going to react strongly to perceived threats. Not everyone who experiences trauma does so in the same ways. There are many ways of expressing trauma, and many paths to healing.
It's not Lorna's fault that people back in the 00s refused to acknowledge that trauma means something. It's not her fault that some people had their heads in the sand because they wanted her to go back to their nostalgia-laced ideas of her that say she's not allowed to have a trauma reaction where she reacts in any way other than "I need a man to comfort me." I will grant two (2) missteps. One, when Havok left her at the altar, Lorna should have been blaming and going after Havok - not Annie. It was Havok's choice. And two, maybe Austen should have been clearer about how her behavior was a result of processing her trauma from the Genoshan genocide.
But then again... Austen did that. When he explicitly showed flashback scenes of Lorna during the genocide itself. In other words, he took what people should have understood from the "gaps" of the story, and because they didn't, he pulled those moments OUT of the gaps and put them straight on the page to try to get people to understand that hey, Lorna's been through some shit, that has to actually mean something or else what's the point of even having comic books. And yet, despite Austen eventually spelling it all out in big bright neon letters, some people still insisted on ignoring the obvious so they could keep ragging on Lorna being written in a more complex manner than their nostalgia.
Far from "rewriting history," this is putting history into its proper context. It's the same thing as archaeologists today recognizing that Viking women did, in fact, participate in battle, and the claim that they never did was based entirely on past archaeologists deciding to ignore context and force their presumptions about gender roles ("only men fight and use swords, women stay in the kitchen where they belong") onto centuries old finds.

đ//Prince Charming Headcanons (Shrek)
He's an idiotic, pompous, arrogant, man-child, that much is certain. He's been perpetually hiding beneath his mother's skirts for most of his life being spoiled absolutely rotten by her and was rarely ever told 'no' to the point that active disobedience actually confuses him. Though for all his whining and self-centeredness, he puts up an excellent facade of being a collected, engaging, and respectful individual. Charming knows very well how to read people and fully understands that diplomacy is a far better method of coercion than brutish threats of violence could ever hope to be.
'Prince' Charming is his name, not his occupation. He was a fairly decent adventurer and knight in his own right, but he didn't really excel anywhere else in his life. Sure, he's a well-known socialite in Far Far Away that gets by solely on his looks and has pockets deeper than an oceanic trench, but... That's it. He has no real aspirations of his own, saying he doesn't need to aspire to anything except what his mother tells him to do. It didn't help any that he's basically been assured a continued safe and comfortable life of extreme luxury and exuberance by her if he marries Princess Fiona, so of course he's got no real incentive to change or do anything that jeopardizes his mother's plans.
He hates Shrek, he loathes Fiona, and he utterly despises the rest of their mismatched, obnoxiously happy little 'family'. If only Shrek could have just given up and kept his ugly mug hidden in the swamp, then Charming could have married Fiona and lived his happily ever after. King Harold and Queen Lilian could've been 'removed' at a later time, the King for nearly breaking his mother's contract, and the Queen because of her ties to the exceptionally powerful Pendragon lineage.
He's actually quite knowledgeable on hexes, spells, potions, and all forms of wizardry, his mother made sure of it. She is after all the head of Fairy Godmother's Cottage, a very successful magic corporation, one that she fully intends on passing onto her half-fairy son. However, being knowledgeable is not the same as being skillful, everything he knows comes from books, pamphlets, and lectures from his own private tutors. He'd happily take archery lessons over enchantment drills any day of the week.
Long ago, when they were first betrothed, he had a crush on Fiona from ages nine to eleven, and even then, their face-to-face meetings were sparse and never carried on into the evening. He used to dress up as a servant to try and get close to her so they could play together, but he never gave her his name, always going by the moniker 'Charlemagne'. Fiona told him of her curse, though she never got into specifics out of fear her new friend would reject her. By the time he had finally come to rescue Fiona, his feelings for her waned significantly after nearly two decades of separation and uncertainty about her fate with rescuing and wedding her now being strictly out of obligation to fulfill his mother's contract with Far Far Away's rulers and nothing else.
He's got wings and a wand; he just wouldn't be caught dead out in public with either of them. He uses magic to hide the wings and the wand he doesn't even bother bringing along with him, worried it would make him appear weak or overly feminine. The commonfolk believe most fairies to be small female creatures that grant wish and with larger than normal wings due to his half-human heritage that highly resemble his mother's, he'd much rather much rather keep the myth going than be called 'miss'. Though he wouldn't mind helping a distraught yet beautiful maiden find her 'happily ever after' every once in a while.
An infamous womanizer, he's had girls wrapped around his dainty, uncalloused fingers for as long as he could remember. "Listen, I'm not one to kiss and tell, but Princess Rosette of the Peacocks was such a bore. I mean, the relationship was more manageable than the Twelve Gyrating Princesses or whatever they were called, now that was a mess of my own making." Every young noticeably wealthy girl has a tale about Charming whether it be about a wonderful date they went on together or how heartbroken they were when they learned he was technically already engaged.
He's not dead, far from it. The tower did fall on him during his attempt to take Shrek's life, but it did not crush him physically, just spiritually. Shallow scars from splintered floorboards and prop stone are hardly anything to worry about for the average person who would be grateful to even be alive. Though for Prince Charming, a scratch across his face might as well be the same as disfigurement and with nothing but spite motivating him at this point in his life, revenge is all that consumes his mind. Currently, he's in hiding in Avalon biding his time until the fateful day that 'King Arthur' comes to take his legendary sword Excalibur and become the true ruler over Britain, that day he plans on striking down the scrawny usurper without mercy.

i loved your dany and egg art and I was wondering where you got the idea to draw them identical?
This is long but I adore both of these characters so who can blame me đ
I think I just loved the idea of these two being visually similar because of how similar their characters are personality and story wise. Dany and Egg are both rather untraditional leaders in that they value the opinion of the weak and impoverished over the strong and wealthy. Egg made many enemies in Westeros and was considered tyrannical by some because of his efforts to redistribute wealth towards the small folk who were dropping dead in the streets from disease and starvation, rather than the nobles who would only sit on that money and brag about how much they have. Egg was beloved by the small folk because he had their best interests in mind. Throughout Dunk and Egg, we see him learning more and more about how abusive the system of wealth and nobility is towards those at the bottom of Westerosâ social pyramid. Hell, even the nobles were wary of him after he retired from squiring because they considered him to be too much of a peasant to rule, likely afraid that having a man whoâs lived a peasant life sitting on the Iron Throne would be the end of their negligent spending habits. Through his reign, we see these lessons shine through as he takes noble money and puts it towards what it should be going towards: relief efforts and care for the small folk, not parties and lavish clothing and simple bragging material.
In a similar scenario, Dany isnât afraid to challenge the slavers and rich men in Essos when they are using their power to abuse those lower. She values slaves and impoverished lives over the lives of wealthy slavers, sheâs considered tyrannical by that class of people because sheâs willing to act against them and support those who are victimized by them. Sheâs willing to call them out on their bullshit and punish their behaviour when no one else did, whether it be from fear, lack of strength, or simply an acceptance of the slavers presence. Dany accepts those at the bottom of Essosâ social pyramid into her following with open arms, she considers them her children and she loves them. Slaves, impoverished people, disabled and sickly. Those are who Dany supports. Even when people around her tell her that sheâs simply taking on dead weight that will only weigh her down, she doesnât back down. That mindset was what put the small folk of Westeros and Essos in such a terrible position, the idea that it was only nobles and rich men who deserved to be part of a movement or support system. Itâs a never ending cycle that Dany wants to finally be done with.
You also get a lot of narrative overlap between the two characters dragon wise. Egg was Danyâs great-grandfather. He hosted Summerhall for Rhaegarâs birth. He wished to hatch dragons for the celebration of the birth of Aerys and Rhaellaâs son. His goal was to use dragons to further his pro-small folk laws, to use them as a tool to help the weak and protect them from the strong. Dany uses her dragons in the way Egg wished he couldâve used his; she uses her three dragons as tools to help save those who would not have had the opportunity to rebel against the abusive government they lived under. They are a symbol of freedom, of revolution against abuse. Dany, with her dragons, is living the life Egg could only dream of. She is who Egg wanted to be, sheâs fulfilling her great-grandfatherâs wishes whether sheâs aware of it or not.
Their characters also fascinate me due to how the small folk are depicted. In many tales of nobles and kings in asoiaf, the small folk are hurdles to get around. They are depicted in a bad light, bigoted and misunderstanding of the depth of the noble class. But when Dany and Egg step down from the pedestal most of the other nobles wished to stay on, you get a much different view of them. Of course they are hateful of nobility and monarchy, what good has it ever done them? Of course they latch onto leaders who support them financially even if that leader treats other nobles poorly. Asoiaf is very noble oriented, and to see small folk as people is extremely important. The class divide makes small folk seem like a foreign nation of people, when they are supposed to be the ones the people in charge are protecting.
Plus, we also have similar themes of rebirth with the introduction and depiction of these characters. When Dunk first meets Egg, Egg is bald and naked at the inn. When Dany births dragons, sheâs bald and naked. Itâs the start of new lives and new opportunities. Egg sheds his Valyrian hair and noble attire and encounters Dunk, who ends up being a defining part of his later ruling as king. Danyâs hair and clothing are burnt to ashes and she births dragons, setting her on her path to become Queen Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons. Iâm not even going to go into the fact that Eggâs life ended trying to birth dragons in fire, and Danyâs life began by birthing dragons in fire. But thatâs there too. Itâs almost like Eggâs story was put on pause for a few generations, and then came back again with Dany.
Iâm skipping a lot of other stuff bc this is so long aldjskdj. I think itâs super sweet I think these characters are super neat I love them both so so much. My favourite dragon people ever.

McKenna dreaded the walk back up the shadowy path. This time, it felt even more foreboding than it had earlier, and halfway up, she tugged on Loki's hand. âI donât want to go back. You know other ways in and out of this realm, donât you? Isnât that what you told me? Please, letâs just go. Just leave here and go back to New Jersey.â
She knew she rambled, her words just fell over one another, but she couldnât help it. Fear rose with swift wings to set her heart hammering against her ribs. âPlease⊠canât we just do that?â
He turned to her, catching her face in his hands. âI donât want to run any longer. I donât want to spend the rest of my days looking over my shoulder.â He traced his thumbs along her cheekbones, his eyes growing soft. âEverything will be all right.â
âYou canât promise that. You said yourself Odin could very well sentence you to die.â She hated how weak she sounded, but the truth was she was terrified that this very thing would happen. That in the span of a day, this could all end.
Her eyes stung and she dropped her head forward so he wouldnât see her crying. But he wasnât about to let that happen, as he caught her chin and tilted her face back to his. âMcKenna, if that happensââ
âDonât say it,â she gritted, her voice cracking as she jerked free and shook her head. âDonât tell me to be brave and get on with my life and all that. Donât tell me again not to mourn or grieve or whatever, because thatâs not going to happen.â A hot tear slid over the edge of her eyelid and streaked down her cheek. âBecause Iâm going to mourn and fall apart and the worst thing is, no one will ever believe me. And those who do believe me, will never believe you to be the man I see now. They will always see you as the power-hungry megalomaniac who wanted to rule the Earth.
âAnd now, I canât even go back to a normal life because it isnât possible. Even if I did manage to want to even think about dating again, do you know how ordinary men will compare to you?â Her hand clenched into a fist and she punched him as hard as she could in the chest, with enough force that he actually stepped back.
âDo you think any other man could ever hope to make me feel what you do? Do you?â She hit him again. âBecause youâre wrong. No before you ever made me feel like thisââ another punchââand no one after ever will either. And do youââ yet another punchââknow why? Because you are. A. Fucking. God!â
She threw one last punch, but this one he caught and lowered her hand as he murmured, âDo you feel better now?â
âNo. And now my hand hurts. Youâre not a soft god, either, you know.â
âI try hard not to be.â He rubbed her hand with both of his. âAnd while I have to admit, the thought of ruining any other men for you does play to my vanity, Iâm not foolâor vain enoughâenough to agree with you.
âBut, I would rather have only a few more hours with you, than a lifetime of being without you and if, by some chance, that happens, trust me, Iâd rather the axe.â He brought her hand to his lips and gently kissed her knuckles. âAnd I do not want you grieving for me, McKenna. If I should get the axeââ
âPlease donât say that.â Her bottom lip quivered, so she caught it between her teeth and shook her head. Then, she leaned into him, pressing her cheek into his chest, and giving into the sobs that refused to be silenced.
He folded his arms about her, one hand pressed against her head, smoothing over her hair as she cried. When she finally went quiet, he continued holding her and stroking her hair as he whispered, âEverything will be all right, love. You will see.â
She sniffled, lifting her head to look at him. âYou donât know that. Not for certain.â
His thumbs moved over her cheeks. âNo one knows anything for certain. Now, no more tears. No more rages. And please, no more punches. You donât exactly hit like a girl, you know.â As she let out a weak laugh, he bent and kissed her forehead. âNow, letâs go back to my chambers, splash about in the tub, perhaps roll about in the sheets, and then we will deal with the rest.â
âHow much longer do you think we have?â
He looked up at the sky. Twilight encroached, the sky streaked purple and gold. âNot long, I think. Perhaps an hour. Maybe a bit more.â
She tightened her arms about his waist and rested her head on his chest again. âIâm scared and I donât like being scared.â
He kissed the top of her head and held up one hand. âHere.â
She looked up and burst out laughing. âA hedgehog?â
âI saw one, the last time I was in Midgard. I thought it a curious creature.â He smiled down at her. âTake it. They donât bite.â
âI would love to, but Cinder would probably kill it.â She reached out to gently stroke in the direction of the hedgehogâs spines. âBut it is cute.â
âVery well.â He waved his free hand over it and said, âPerhaps you will accept this instead.â
Her jaw went slack as her eyes feel upon the most beautiful diamond ring sheâd ever seen. It was a clean, square cut diamond so white it looked perfectly clear, set in white goldâor possibly even platinumâ encircled by a ring of smaller, yet equally clear diamonds. âOh⊠oh, Loki⊠I couldnât possiblyâŠâ
He lifted the ring and with the hand that had held it, took her left hand. The ring slid easily onto her ring finger, as if made for her exclusively. âIt is said that there is a vein that runs in Midgardians, from this finger directly to the heart,â he replied softly. He lifted his eyes to hers.Â
âOn Earth, a man gives a ring like this when he asks a woman to marry him,â she whispered back, her heart beating so loudly, she almost couldnât hear herself. She swallowed hard as Loki's smile took on a mischievous edge.Â
âDo you like it?â
The ring fit her perfectly, the sparkle thrown off by the facets almost blinding her as she involuntarily moved her fingers. âItâs beautiful.â She could barely make the words move past the enormous lump that rose in her throat.Â
âMarry me, Midgardian. And this will be only the beginning of what I wish to give you.â
Tears clouded her eyes, but they were bittersweet tears. That he asked her to marry him would probably have no bearing on Odinâs decision, but still, she smiled up at him and nodded, unable to speak.
His smile lost its devilishness and his eyes grew greener, although she was fairly certain they shimmered the same way hers were. âThis will happen, love. I promise you.â
Pressing her lips together, she nodded again and when she found her voice, she said, âIâm going to hold you to that, Jötunn.â
He drew her into his arms. âYou do realize, you are the only one I would allow get away with calling me that, donât you?â
âJust as youâre the only one Iâd allow to call me Midgardian.â She slid her arms about his neck and pulled him down to meet her lips.Â
When they parted, she whispered, âI wish we had one more night.â
âThere will be more.â He stepped away to take her hand again. He brought it to his lips, kissed it, and then added, âOdin may allow you to stay, you know. There is no decision set in stone as yet.â
As they reached the palace, she sighed. âI know, but still⊠I just have this horrible feelingâŠâ
He squeezed her hand, but his reply died on his lips as they came into his chambers to find Thor waiting for them, his expression grim. McKenna felt the pit of her stomach fall away as he said, âOdin wishes to see you.â
Her throat squeezed tight. âShould I wait here?â
âNo. He wishes to see you as well.â
âMe?â
âThat is what he said.â
âWhat does Odin wish to see her for?â Loki asked, a hint of suspicion in his voice. âShe has nothing to do withââ
âHe didnât explain to me, Loki. He only said he wishes to see you both in the Throne Room.â
She clasped Loki's hand with both of hers, feeling sick as Loki nodded and they fell into step behind Thor. Her stomach churned and her entire body trembled, strongly enough that Loki squeezed her hand and murmured, âAt least weâll know.â
âThatâs what Iâm afraid of,â she whispered back, feeling very much as if she was going to faint. She heard a distant buzzing in her ears and tried to swallow hard against it. âI donât feel so good,â she murmured.
âLean on me, love. Iâll hold you up.â
At the end of the golden corridor, Thor rounded the corner and McKenna thought she was going to throw up as her gaze was drawn immediately to the high dais of gold atop a golden flight of stairs. The man seated in on the equally gold throne terrified her more than anyone else ever, Loki included. He had a shock of flowing white hair, and thick white beard, and a golden plate served as an eye patch over his right eye. In his right fist he held a tall scepter of gold.
Her blood roared through her ears as Loki squeezed her hand again and stood tall before his father. He held her back slightly, as if to stand between her and Odin, and his thumb gently caressed hers as he said, âAllfather.â
âLoki has returned to Asgard once more,â Odin began, his voice deep and mellow, and he didnât look at McKenna. âIt is a wonder we are all still alive to tell the tale.â
âI returned. And no one has suffered for it. Thor told you of my reasons for returning, did he not?â
âTo save the life of a woman.â Odinâs voice remained strangely void of emotion. âA Midgardian woman, no less. The very same people you thought were so beneath you, that they would believe you to be a god. And their king.â
Loki didnât flinch, his shoulders back and proud as he said, âI was mistaken about that. I was not, however, mistaken in my desire to see this woman returned safely from Jötunheim.â
McKenna cleared her throat with the intention of introducing herself and speaking on Loki's behalf, but before she could, Odin intoned, âMcKenna Carlin. Of Midgard. Did you know you aided a fugitive? One who was thought to be dead? One who should be dead?â
She nodded. âI did. And you are wrong about him. Heââ
âSilence!â Odin thundered. âI care not what your opinions are. Loki, I hope she was worth the price of revealing your deception, because Frigga is not here to save your neck this time.â
âFather, you were willing to keep him in the dungeons beforeââ Thor began.
âI donât need you to defend me,â Loki broke in, shaking his head. âI know what Iâve done and yes, if this means the axe for me, know this, Allfather. I would do it again, if I had to. This woman means that much to me. I would do things no differently.â
Odin snickered, but Loki held up a hand. âI know you think me without a heart, without anything but the desire for power, but you are wrong. I regret most of my actions not because I didnât believe in them, but because they will prevent me from pledging my life to her.â
âPledging your life? Did I hear you correct? Loki has decided he cares about something more than his own selfish desires?â
It hurt to hear Odin rip into Loki with such sharp teeth, but as she tensed to jump in again, Loki squeezed her hand once more. âFor the most part, yes,â he replied, glancing over at her. âBut wanting her is part of my selfish desire, I suppose. I love her. I want her. Iâve asked her to be my wife.â
âIs this true?â Odin demanded, turning to her.
She nodded slowly. âIt is. Please, I know you think he is beyond salvation, but he not only saved Thor's life, but Jane Fosterâs as well. And in doing so, he saved the world from the Dark Elves. And, he saved my neck not once, but twice. Heâsââ
Odin held up a hand to silence her. âIâve heard enough.âÂ
She clasped Loki's hand between hers again, her heart thudding against her ribs. She glanced up at him but he remained stoic, his gaze firmly on his father. The roar through her ears made her feel sick all over again and she thought she just might faint when Odin said, âI cannot forget all that you have done, Loki. Nor can I forgive it. Should I allow the Midgardian to remain here, allow you to wed here in Asgard, would be give the impression that I do both.â
Tears poked the backs of her eyes. The lump in her throat was impossible to swallow. Her entire body shook as Odin continued, âTherefore, she shall return to Midgard while you shall be remanded back to the dungeons for eternity.â
âNo!â McKenna shouted as two Asgardian guards stepped up and one not-so gently pulled her away from Loki while the other one clapped thick irons about Loki's wrists. He knelt to clap shackles about Loki's ankles. âNo, pleaseâŠâ
Thor caught her as Loki growled at the guards, âTake care with her.â
âFather, why not exile him to Midgard as well?â Thor asked.
McKenna had to look away as an iron collar was fitted about Loki's neck. Thick chains connected all the shackles and it killed her to see him this way. Still, his shoulders remained square, thrown back with pride, even as Odin shook his head. âNo. This is my decision.â
She pulled away from Thor and threw herself at Loki, who rattled and clunked as he stepped back and stumbled from the force with which she crashed into him. But he remained on his feet and when she pulled him down, he met her lips with a fierce kiss.
âWhen do you plan to return her?â Thor asked.
âSunset. Take him away.â
âNo, no, no,â McKenna said, her lips still against Loki's. She kissed him with every bit of passion, every bit of lust, and every bit of love she could force into a kiss and when he was roughly dragged away from her, her voice cracked as she said, âI love you.â
He didnât fight the men dragging him away from her, not that it would have done any good. But he did smile at her. âAnd I love you.â
Then he winked.
She stood there, rooted to her spot, and watched as they dragged him from the Throne Room. Tears overflowed her eyes, spilled down her cheeks, and she didnât even try to stop them. Her heart felt like it was shattering the way a window did, starting with a small, spiderweb crack that then shot out in all directions to reduce the glass to nothing but fissures and pieces.Â
Her knees quaked but she managed to stay upright. She turned back to find Odin staring down at her. âYou are wrong about him.â
âI believe I know Loki far better than you, Midgardian,â he replied, slowly rising from his throne. âAnd you are a fool to think he cares for you beyond what purpose you might serve him.â
âNo. You are a fool for choosing to believe only the worst.â She knew she took a great risk, arguing with Odin this way. But she didnât care. She was numb now, far beyond caring what Odin might do to her. Loki might not be executed, but she would never see him again, and because of that, she had nothing to lose. âHe has shown he has a caring side, a gentle side. And as I said, he did save Thor's life.â
âIâve heard enough. Sif, take her to Heimdall.â
A tall, slim woman with jet-black hair pulled up into a sleek ponytail, dressed in feminine armor, came into the room. âYes, Allfather.â
With one last look in the direction Loki had been taken, McKenna slowly plodded behind Sif, away from the Throne Room, away from Thor's impassioned, âShe speaks true. I told you how Loki sacrificed himself for me.â
âIs that so?â Odin replied. âFor that is not how I see it, considering how he didnât sacrifice himself at all.â
She blocked out the rest of Odin's words, which wasnât at all difficult, and as they approached Heimdall, Sif said, âIâm sorry this had to happen this way.â
âAre you?â McKenna rounded on her. âBecause I think otherwise.â
âI was raised with Loki, I remember him as a boy, mischievous and playful. At one point, there were many ladies here who dreamed of being wooed by him. But then the thought of power corrupted him. I like to think that mischievous, flirtatious devil of a man has come back and if so, I thank you for bringing him back.â
âFor all the good it did.â She glanced down at the ring on her finger, glittering from all the light. âI wish weâd never come here.â
âThe Allfather would have found him eventually. Heimdall sees all and even Loki cannot hide himself forever.â
Heimdall slid his sword into the slot and McKenna swallowed hard as Sif added, âGood luck, Midgardian.â
McKenna didnât reply, and then the air rushed from her body as if sheâd been hooked about the waist and yanked forward. Lights, colors, sound all blurred as it screamed past her and when she hit the ground, she collapsed into a heap on white sand.

Dragon Ball Z: Broly - Legendary Super Saiyan Abridged Review
Originally posted September 5th, 2018
Itâs difficult to care about such a shallow character, even as he has the trappings of coolness.
I am probably not the right person to review this movie. In fact, Iâm not even sure Iâm capable of approaching this movie with the critical lens it deserves, because of one simple fact: I do not find the concept of Broly to be inherently cool. And I feel like this movie was written for people who find Broly inherently cool, whether or not they believe that he works as a character in practice.
Itâs difficult for me to simply accept Broly as cool, because for me, I tend to only be impressed by a characterâs âcoolnessâ when Iâve already seen that thereâs more to them than whatever external trappings make them that way, or in the best stories, when what makes a character cool is shown off right alongside their depth.
For a good example, we can just look back at Vegeta, who, to me at least, only ever started to feel badass after we started to see how much of a petulant child he is at his core, and how much he has to struggle to succeed against Freeza and his warriors. Vegeta struggling against enemies he legitimately fears, and coming out successful, is what makes him feel badass, not just his ability to quip off perfect one-liners or keep up his façade of confidence at all times.
Brolyâs story prevents him from having any kind of interesting struggle here though, as unlike our heroes, he didnât gain his power by training, or having close encounters with death; he gained his powers by simply being born into them, and having his Super Saiyan state triggered by hearing the name of a baby he hated.
The immense amount of power Broly wields against our heroes does make him an effective antagonist, I admit, but without a struggle of his own, and without any kind of actual reasonable motivation, Broly simply does not work for me, and I canât bring myself to care at all about him.
And thatâs a problem, because while the movie clearly makes fun of people who think Broly is âso coolâ by having Vegeta fawn over him, it still seems to find some value in his characterâs existence and coolness, mostly by treating Vegetaâs proclamations of Brolyâs coolness as genuine, while having him express frustration at Brolyâs shallow motivation.
I donât think thereâs anything wrong with Team Four Star liking Broly on some level, of course, but I have so much trouble wrapping my head around the idea that you could have a genuine affection for such a shallow, flimsy character that I end up feeling lost, almost left behind by this movieâs expectation that I am supposed to be interested in Broly on some level. I donât care about this legendary Super Saiyan, and nothing short of a complete reinvention of his character is likely to ever change that for me.
So itâs probably weird for me to then say that despite not caring about Broly, I still rather enjoy this movie, even if it loses me about halfway through. One weak character does not a movie break, and the movie is at its best when its focusing on the much better defined characters we all know and love.
Korin and Yajirobeâs wedding reception is very sweet, as is Gokuâs horribly inept attempt to get Gohan into a good college. I also love how effectively Paragus plays to Vegetaâs ego, leading him to New Vegeta with ease by simply referring to him as a king, ultimately earning the role of Vegetaâs Royal Vizier through schmooze alone. Thereâs also the running gag of calling Trunks a princess and using she/her pronouns for her, which is a good time because misgendering cis people is always a good time, especially since Trunks clearly isnât that bothered by it in the first place.
And I would be absolutely remiss if I failed to mention the Shamoians, a diminutive race of lifestyle submissives, who willingly subject themselves to slavery and beatings, simply because they get off on it. Reframing these aliens as consenting to their treatment opens up a lot more avenues for comedy than If they were played straight, and Team Four Star consistently toes the line between pointing out how absurd this concept is, and being respectful of their collective love for a slavery kink.
Most importantly though, weâre shown that these aliens ultimately do have boundaries, as while they at first salivate over the idea of Broly treating them cruelly, when itâs clear that heâs going to endanger their safety, they scramble to remember their safe word, making it clear that his actions are no longer something they consent to. Itâs funny because theyâve been submissive so long that theyâve forgotten their safeword, but it also serves to reinforce the idea that their exchange of power was only okay because of their active consent, an idea that is absolutely essential to ethically practicing kink.
Itâs small moments like these, Gokuâs search for the person who killed South Galaxy, and Piccoloâs dismay at Gohan possibly not getting into his preferred school, that keep this movie interesting for me, and while I will probably never be able to enjoy Broly as a character, thanks to the other characters still being excellently portrayed, I donât feel like I have to. One legendary Super Saiyan is enough for this girl, after all.

"Jaime Lannister sends his regards."
What does this line mean? What are the implications, the message it is trying to send? Is it a better line than the changed one in the show?
These are questions I have been asking myself as of late. Initially, I wanted to explain why I liked the show's version better, but as I thought about what the book's version meant, I started to change my mind
To be honest, the reason why I liked the show's version better for so long was because I thought it was more impactful. By saying "The Lannisters send their regards" rather than just Jaime, it made the Lannisters seem like a unified front, a great House that is not to be fucked with and not just a singular great man. It would send the message that it is not the actions of a singular person but something that will set a precedent for the House as a whole when dealing with, ultimately, people getting in their way.
But then I started thinking about why Tywin would have them say Jaime specifically. I came to two major conclusions:
1) Tywin doesn't care that Jaime is a member of the Kingsguard let alone the Lord Commander, he still wants Jaime to inherit Casterly Rock. Cersei is the Queen, just the thing Tywin wanted her to be, thus he wants to keep her right where she is. Tyrion is the heir of Casterly Rock but Tywin would rather bring the Seven Hells upon Westeros than see Tyrion as the Lord of Casterly Rock. He has always seen Jaime as the heir, his heir. When he made his vows, Tywin was pissed as all hell, at Jaime, at Aerys, at everyone. But then Joffrey set the precedent that members Kingsguard don't have to serve for life with the dismissal of Baristan Selmy, thus opening up the path for Tywin to make his wishes come true.
Several time through the series, we see the song "The Rains of Castamere" used as a threat, a reminder to any and all of what Tywin Lannister is capable of. The ruthless destruction of Houses Reyne and Tarbeck solidifies Tywin's fearsome reputation and I believe the Red Wedding is meant to be Jaime's Castamere. By giving him the responsibility, Tywin is securing Jaime's legacy almost. Already Jaime is well-known for being one of the greatest swordsmen alive, but he needs to be more of a threat, more of a foreboding presence at the back of people's minds than just someone who is pretty handy with a sword. If people believe Jaime capable and willing to do something as horrible as the Red Wedding, what else is he willing to do to protect the realm (or just his family)?
However, similar to Castamere, the Red Wedding is a huge, huge, huge political mistake. It is not a show of power, of skill in battle, of cunning or wit. No, it's a demonstration of brutality. It says to everyone else that the Lannisters will do whatever they want in response to slights, minor or otherwise. The Red Wedding especially does this. Sure, you crushed the Northern rebellion and took out a huge threat to your power, congratulations. Now no one trusts you or respects you or will want to be by your side. They may fall in line out of fear, but fear can only hold people for so long and to such lengths. Tywin os still upset, to his dying day, of the perceived failings of his father. He hated how his bannerman laughed at him, hated how a "whore" wore his mother's jewels and clothing, hated the weakness he saw. But I would argue it is better to be underestimated yet respected than feared yet reviled. When the going gets tough, who will come to Lannister aid after this? After this violation of a sacred law, Guest Right, who would ever want to be on the side of Lannister?
2) This is more of a narrative reason, though I certainly believe Tywin may think similarly, but this line is also a twisting of the knife. Cat let Jaime go and everyone and their mother told her what a horrible idea it was. Now, it's come to bite her in the ass. Had she not released Jaime, I am not entirely sure the Red Wedding would have happened but that is a whole different discussion. Fact of the matter is, she did and now she has to watch her son be murdered in front of her. How could she not blame herself? How could she not blame the Lannisters for being cravens wholly lacking honor? How could she not blame the gods for their cruelty? This line is the cherry on top of the tragedy of the Starks.
While (iirc) Tywin did not know Catelyn was the one who let Jaime go, I believe he thinks he somehow escaped on his own, I do think he would also view it in the same way. As consequence of taking his son, and of letting him slip through their fingers, their lives are forfeit. Yes, when they rebelled their lives were forfeit to begin, but I think Jaime's capture pushed Tywin to such a drastic means of dealing with them.
At his core, Tywin is a petty, vindictive person who values getting his revenge more than actually doing what is best for the Lannister name. True, he may believe this is the best course of action, but that just goes to show what an emotionally-driven, lack of forethought moron Tywin truly is. He is not clever, he is cruel. Do not confuse the two. And, much like every other Lannister, Tywin seems to believe because the Targaryens conquered and kept the peace through fire and blood, he can do whatever violent acts he wishes and history will laud him for it, but he is not a Targaryen, it does not work the same way. Targaryens for centuries were viewed as closer to gods than men, Lannisters never were held in that esteem. All he is doing is dragging the Lannister name through the mud.
One of the things that makes Tywin Lannister notorious in Westeros is told about in the song "The Rains of Castamere," which details how Tywin brought about the end of House Reyne and House Tarbeck, serves several times as a reminder and threat of what Tywin Lannister is capable of ie complete ruthless brutality. It is intended to keep people in line and to keep their noses clean. I believe Tywin wanted to give Jaime a similar reputation.

6. Whatâs your best childhood memory?
10. What was the last thing to make you smile?
6. Whatâs your best childhood memory?
what's funny is that my best childhood memory is probably my worst. hahaha.
stupid lils. i hope following me to this day was worth it.
i hope i made it worth it.
okay. so back when i got dreamer powers in the orphanage, i thought i was hot shit. couldn't manifest anything in reality, but my eldest sister did train me up a bit - nothing like the extreme bullshit she just put me through - but enough to beat up pathetically weak high schoolers as a primary schooler.
and then came chi, newcomer to the orphanage. runt of the party. hell was she 6? 7? at the time? i'm three years older. can't really remember. all i remember was that i gave her part of my sandwich once when i saw her rummaging through the trash can because she missed a meal again. and she's been stuck to my hip ever since.
i didn't like that. thought i was special. more special than anyone. destined for big things. the sort of idiot that would've died real quickly in the real world. most importantly, i thought i couldn't afford any baggage or weaklings. but she kept following me. and i hated it. because i thought she would die if she continued following me cause she wasn't strong enough.
i knew chi hated heights. it's how i lost her in those early days - just parkour up a building and voila a couple chi-free hours to myself. but it still wasn't enough. i didn't want her around me, but i couldn't kick her away - it wasn't how mom taught me to deal with the weak.
and honestly, i didn't deserve chi. she'd do better with any of the other social groups rather than standing by my side - she reminded me of a small puppy back then, eager to please - and as much roughhousing that goes on in the orphanage, kids often respond to sincerity with sincerity: she would've been better off without me.
to the me of the time, kicking her away was for her own good.
i gave chi an ultimatum to climb with me to the top of this ten-story abandoned building. if she couldn't, she had to stop following me around. and instead of staying on the ground like she always did, she climbed up with me. matched me step for step.
i looked mad the entire time - kept taunting her about how slow she was - about how she wasn't gonna make it.
but i was secretly happy. because no one ever wanted my company that much - not even my eldest sister - to the point of literally facing their fears just to stay by my side. honestly even if she couldn't follow me to the top, i think i already accepted her.
and then the ground, only supported by the wall it was attached to, cracked. and everything fell beneath me. chi was the one who dived at me, pushed me so i can hang onto a piece of rebar on a lower floor.
i watched her fall eight stories. like watching a car crash. just looking up at me.
and thud.
she still wasn't moving when i made it back down trying to check up on her. i was panicking and i think was just spiraling downward. honestly, sometimes i wonder if the reason why i could deal with people dungeons so well isn't just because of my soul's nature; it's because i very well nearly turned into one then and there.
and then i felt someone pat me on the head.
and i see lils with an outstretched arm and a confused expression, unharmed with only the shattered floor around her to mark what had happened. i think i was just babbling and hugging her and saying i was sorry at that point.
and well, the rest is history. i know i don't deserve her as a friend or as family.
but she's decided to stick with me ever since.
10. What was the last thing to make you smile?
sato - and everyone else of course - were there when i woke up from the fight. the hug from her was nice also.
also lils drew me as that dbz guy in a crater meme. ha. thanks as always, lils.
#(( Lev quite isn't aware yet that she's speaking out loud. Very loud ))#(( And the gang is outside her room eavesdropping. ))#(( ahaha ))#online::Levant

Anonymous asked: âł Ultimately, what are your goals? Do you hope to remain as you are or fully become a vampire, abandoning your humanity once and for all?
Send me a âł and ask a really invasive question aimed at my character Theyâll have to: Rate on a scale of 1-10 how much they donât want to answer that question. Answer that question.
â . . . . 9/10. â Silence followed her reply. Not wanting to have to confront her uncertainty. The fear that still plagued her heart, mortality now terrifying her more than ever after her brush with death that had been too real for her. Too close. Missi had almost lost everything and, it terrified her. What it meant if she were to die, it was an irrational fear. She knew the answer of what would happen but it didnât help her feel any better. Despite her deranged and fractured state; she wasnât suicidal. Missi didnât want to die. Not yet. She wasnât sure how long it would take for her to find peace with it and for now she rather not deal with it at all.
â I donât know. I want, more power. I donât want to be weak or broken. I want to learn more, do more, be something more than just some pathetic little human girl. . . but Iâm still scared. Iâm still. Scared to take that step. I canât even look in the mirror because all I see is the person I am, a scared, pathetic, little girl who canât do anything and I want. I want to get rid of her, no one could love that. No one would want that. I could never be anything as a human.
Whatâs so great about being human anyway?! Everyone hates humans, I hate humans, I hate the life I had, I hated the family that didnât love me, no doubt they hated me back! They gave up on me! What is there left for Melissa the human? Nothing! . . . . Sheâs nothing. . . . Iâm. Nothing. I donât know what to do. Where to go. I donât know what Iâm doing. I donât know why people care about me. Love me. Show me that affection. I want that. . . but I donât know if I deserve it. . because Iâm just a human. and Iâm scared to do more despite wanting to be anything but what I am. â
