A continuation on my post about unloved foods, specifically this is my in-depth defense of root beer.
Root Beer isn't inherently gross, it's just one of those weird local flavors that's off-putting to people who didn't grow up with it. We all like different things and also we all tend to like flavors that are similar to what we grew up with. That's okay! But honestly root beer is pretty unique and, in my opinion, delicious.
One of the main complaints against root beer is that it tastes like medicine. Funnily enough, it was originally marketed as medicinal! This is true for most OG sodas actually. Pretty much as soon as carbonated water was invented, people were drinking it to soothe various ailments. A lot of the original soft drinks were actually invented by pharmacists. I just think that root beer is especially cool because the main flavor came from the root bark of sassafras, a common North American shrub. Because it's so widespread and aromatic, all parts of the sassafras plant have been used in food and medicine by many different Native American tribes throughout history and was subsequently picked up and used by European colonists. In the 1960s, some studies indicated that that safrole oil, which is produced by the plant, can cause liver damage. Whether or not this would actually remain true after it had been boiled and added to root beer is unclear, but it was really easy to replicate the flavor, so the sassafras in commercial root beer these days is artificial. Another fun fact about safrole is that it's a precursor in the synthesis of MDMA. None of this information has stopped my childhood habit of eating sassfras leaves right off the shrub whenever I walk past it on a hike. I'm like 85% sure it's safe and also mmmm yummy leafs go crunch.
Another root beer complaint is that it tastes like toothpaste. I think this is probably because another key flavor in most root beer recipes is wintergreen. I'm assuming that the people who think this are the same people who think mint chocolate chip ice cream tastes like toothpaste. I can understand and even respect that some people don't like mint and associate it only with brushing their teeth, but like. Mint is a pretty common flavor. I mean I think it's safe to say that humans have been eating mint flavored stuff for longer than toothpaste has existed... anyway!
Other common flavors in root beer (real or artificial) are caramel, vanilla, black cherry bark, sarsaparilla root, ginger, and many more! There's not one official recipe, and root beer enthusiasts often have strong opinions about different brands. Some root beer is sharper, with more strong aromatic flavors, and others are mild and creamier.
Another thing I think is cool about root beer is that it's foamier than most sodas. This was originally because sassafras is a natural surfactant (and why sassafras is also a common thickening agent in Louisiana Creole cooking.) These days, other plant starches or similar ingredients are added to keep the distinctive foam. Root beer foam > all other soft drink foams. That's why root beer floats kick more ass than like, coke floats.
If you've never had root beer before, imagine if a sweetened herbal tea was turned into a soda, because that's basically what it is. If your first response to that is a cringe, fair enough. That's why lots of people don't like it. If your first response to that is "interesting... I might actually like it, though" then I encourage you to track down a can of root beer today, hard as that might be outside the US and Canada. Next time you see an "ew, root beer tastes like medicine/tooth paste" take, know that there's a reason for that, but also the same could be said for literally any herbal or minty food/drink.
My final take on root beer is that it would be the soda of choice for gnomes. Thank you and good night.

sith worlds: tavôya
My Sith Warrior’s homeworld Tavôya was a lost colony discovered and integrated by the Empire in the century preceding the Great Galactic War. Tavôya was settled in two waves; first by a colony ship that had its guidance systems scrambled by a gravitational anomaly and came out of hyperspace too deep into the planet’s gravity well to avoid crashing more than ten-thousand years before the Treaty of Coruscant, and then by a refugee convoy who fled the Great Hyperspace Counter-invasion eight years after Vitiate’s followers left. Being a Sith World discovered during the preparations for the Great Galactic War the Empire desired a diplomatic integration; realising that if they did not agree they would be invaded Tavôya consented but was vigorous in the negotiation of conditions. The choice wasn’t seriously disputed as the Tavôyai knew a single planet could never hold out against the Empire, but the feeling was very much “damn no wonder they call it the Cult of Emperor”, “this class system sucks”, and “in hindsight reactivating our hyperspace beacons was a mistake”.
Tavôya maintains its distinctive cultures and languages as well as remaining largely self-governed except in military matters. Most of the population speaks Tavoittâk, with the majority of exceptions being immigrants to the planet. Tavôyai Modern Sith differs from Imperial Standard in several ways; none of the official modifications mandated by the Sith Emperor and the Imperial Board of Linguistic Standardisation, large number of Tavoittâk loanwords, etc.
The vast majority of the population are decedents of the colonists who left the known Sith Worlds before they were the Sith Worlds – before the twelve Jedi Exiles who became the first Sith Lords arrived on Korriban. Consequently, Tavôyai Force practices and the social roles inhabited by Force-adepts skew heavily towards the norms of the Kissai and other pre-Sith traditions. Only a single aged Sith Lord arrived with the refugee convoy. Tavôya has a flatter society than the mainstream empire because the status of Force-adepts (ie. the Sith) is less elevated and there is no enslaved underclass – there isn’t a legally enforced class system. Under the laws of Tavôya nobody can be born into slavery or be condemned to it until death without recourse; the closest equivalent is of as an honour-debt to a community a person has wronged which they must work off to make recompense and prove their change in heart. The rejection of the highly stratified nigh unchangeable Imperial class system is one of the biggest causes of friction between Tavôya and the rest of the Empire.
In additional to the different social functions of slavery and Force-adepts, the other reason the Imperial class system is viewed unfavourably is that while Tavôya’s population averages out at around 55% red sith the ‘average’ part is important. The crashed colony ship was a joint venture between Rhelg and Ayywenoth transporting a mix of red sith and twi’leks. The smaller and later refugee convoy was comprised of red sith, red zabraks, humans, and dashade. Millenia before the introduction of Sith Alchemy, the Kissai had developed ritual fertility magic powerful enough to overcome cross-species chromosomal incompatibility inconveniences. Over 85% of the population is of both red sith and twi’lek decent; in maybe 10% it is visibly obvious. “Twi’leks” with brow-ridges or chin-tendrils, naturally hairless “red sith”, and a determination to use a single ancient drop of blood – verifiable or not – to justify classifying people as full rather than second class Imperial citizens coming head-to-head with “pure-blood” supremacists and Imperial humans and red zabraks using their sith ancestry to justify their own delusions of superiority. The Imperial Bureaucracy would cause more problems over it if the Tavôyai didn’t prefer to remain on Tavôya.
While not unfriendly, Tavôya’s society can be very closed off to those not born into it. Family and kinship are an integral part of societal structure, and it is difficult to find a way to fit yourself properly in if you are not accepted as part of a family, either by marriage or adoption. The few outsider Imperials stationed on the planet for work rarely stay longer than their minimum term of service before requesting a transfer to another part of the Empire.

“The King’s Avatar Manhua: Challenger League Arc” has just been announced, releasing every Sunday starting January 30! That is, the new manhua will be starting to adapt the Challenger League!
The original serialization of the new manhua (which is currently at chapter 85, right around Yu Wenzhou’s introduction) will continue to be released once a month on the first Friday of every month.
This is incredibly exciting! Out of all the many TKA adaptations, only the live action has ever adapted the CL (and it made so many changes it was hardly an adaptation at all). The new manhua has been quite faithful to the novel thus far, so I’m looking forward to it!

[QZGS] S3 hints in new MV for Ye Xiu bday 2022 《虹光》
58 notes - Posted June 1, 2022
My #1 post of 2022
The King’s Avatar begins today
(translated from official Weibo)
December 2, 2022. Hangzhou’s snow is already falling. On this very evening, the story began…
One Autumn Leaf, this account card that witnessed and personally experienced Ye Xiu’s legendary splendor, eventually parted ways with him, just one day shy of ten years. Even the most easygoing of people would feel some pain in this moment, and so your hands, which had always been steady up until now, began to tremble ever so slightly as you handed it to your successor. “If you like it, then treat this all as glory, and not boasting.” You said this, and released your hand.
“I’ll rest for a year, and then return.” Even though you left, only leaving behind these eight words, this wasn’t the end;
You walked through the snowy night, lifted your head, and saw an internet cafe, lights shining in this deep night. From Area C number 47, from that simple storage room, this all began anew…
Because of The King’s Avatar, because of Ye Xiu, we are willing to believe—on December 2 2022, somewhere in the world, there must be an internet cafe called Happy, that will let you push open the door, shake off the snow, and once again begin a legend.
On this day, I was fortunate to meet you, the most incredible you. This is the final line of The King’s Avatar chapter 1726.
Ten years of Glory, never fade. And now, it really has been ten years. We still remember. And the story of The King’s Avatar, Ye Xiu’s legend, begins today.
Ye Xiu, thank you for letting this seemingly ordinary day become so distinct. The glory that we witness together will never fade.
Team Excellent Era player Ye Qiu has disconnected, Glory tenth server player Lord Grim is logging in. New journey, start!

[“People start mutual aid projects because existing programs or other services are not meeting people’s needs, and often are leaving out particular groups of vulnerable people.
The notorious failures of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the face of disaster are a good example. The 2018 Camp Fire in California was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in the state’s history, the worst wildfire in the United States in a century, and the most expensive natural disaster in the world that year. At least 85 people were killed in the fire, over 18,800 structures were destroyed, 52,000 people were evacuated, and the total damage was estimated at $16.5 billion. A tent city of people displaced by the fire emerged in a Walmart parking lot in Chico, California. In the days following the fire, as displaced people with more resources began to leave the tent city because they could afford to find new housing or stay with family or friends, city officials and media portrayed the people that remained as ordinary homeless and itinerant people who were “undeserving” of help, rather than as sympathetic fire survivors.
The hierarchy of deservingness is built into FEMA’s eligibility process, which excludes people who cannot confirm an address before the disaster, such as homeless people or people living in poor communities where individual dwellings are sometimes not given an individual mailing address. The distinction between deserving and undeserving disaster survivors rests on the idea that suddenly displaced renters and homeowners are sympathetic victims, while people who were already displaced by the ordinary disasters of capitalism—and are especially vulnerable after an acute disaster like a storm or fire—are blameworthy and do not deserve aid.”]

Since the show wont really explore this ever, what was Terry like during the 90's? What was he up to during the 2000's? How about the 70's? Maybe even as far back as the late 50's?
1950's - Around this time, a boy, Terry, I imagine was living in the exuberance and multigenerational wealth of the bubble the life with his parents provided. This is when he would've learned about the finer things in life. How to play a piano. How to speak certain languages his parents approved of. His penchant for classical literature and music. How to dress. How to talk. Walk. Socialize. Be a Silver. Perhaps, to an extent, even how to manipulate, play and control others. All the trappings of wealth and class distinction drilled into him from an early age.
1960's - Well, we already know. Vietnam happened. But, I imagine Terry didn't go to Vietnam up until the late 60's. So, that leaves us with a whole decade underexplored alongside with his early teenhood. I think he really started developing his sense of inadequacy around this time. That he genuinely started using his scrawny, seeming gentle self as a tool to often get what he wants, venturing out and discovering that, hey, people can be worked. I think it is in the 60's when he really began being love starved and pining for devotion and he'd do hell all to get it. Very sheltered kid, around this era. Repressed. Extremely. It was the swinging 60's, but for Terry, the norm of old money and its routine ensured he felt none of that swing.
1970's - He comes back from war a mess, traumatized, jittery, split personality, broken psyche, dark and stranger than ever before ---Dynatox happens, big money happens, inheritances happen and Twig, now Terry probably throws himself into that disco life --- loud, fast and bright. Into partying it up. Living large. Compensating for years spent in the bush and in wartime during his adolescent, formative years to make up for each and every moment lost. John saved his life --- least he owes him is to indulging in every day like it is the last and making good for the life his friend rescued. So, sex is rampant, alcohol is rampant, his drug addiction doubtlessly happened around this time because of all the excess and to cope with the pain of Vietnam. The Terry we know forms around this decade. Maybe he was always this Terry, though? It was simply waiting for an opportunity to bust out?
1980's - Ah, yes, the 80's. By now, we get the TKK3 era Terry. He effectively juggled his vices in the 70's and his tenacity for business and he became a made man. A Billionaire. A yuppie. A magnate. A tycoon. Man has tried everything by now. The darkest desires a human can imagine and he relished in each and every one of them --- made up quite a few himself. He's spoiled on excess and he adores it. Does whatever he wants. Goes from soaking in his bubble bath and debating bribing officials with his secretary to sweating it out in his sauna midday with a bottle of champagne. He could retire today and it wouldn't make a difference. He can bankroll anything. Afford whatever. The world is his. Dynatox is burning the world down, but he doesn't care and frankly, he's entertained by it. He's never liked third world ratholes --- not since Vietnam. That is why he so effectively takes weeks and maybe even months off to harass a teenager. Because it is fun and because life's whatever he wants it to be, no matter how absurd.
1990's - Post '85 tournament loss and John slipping off of the radar (which Terry keeps track of, I refuse to believe he didn't), I think Terry slips off of the radar for a long time as well, as a direct response to that; he isn't in hiding, no --- too powerful to hide from anyone or anything --- but he does become very, very private and discreet. Throws himself into work. That's how he copes for a while; being a workaholic and generating himself even more of a net worth he doesn't even need, but he finds he must hyperfocus and be in control of something or he'll go insane. He is a businessman in the 90's. Corporate. Clinical, to an extent. Tones down his flamboyance deliberately. He does it to punish himself, in a way. To blend in. Become a chameleon. Possibly gets rid of his Glendower mansion around this time. His old staff starts disbanding. Some of them, like Margaret, who are more aged, might've even died, truly signifying the end of an era. All the trappings of extravagance he so loved just years before are getting scrapped by him personally, because the times are changing and he must change with them. He is like a bird of paradise plucking out its own feathers and it hurts, but he figures he deserves it to hurt.
2000's - At the turn of the new millennia, America has shifted, he has shifted and the world he knows has shifted --- funny how there is a resurfacing of all things 80's at this time to make it all the more harder on him. He is probably trying therapy around this point. Probably had a really bad coke overdose or twenty in the late 90's. His hair has turned grey. Silver is silver. He is looking less like Ponytail every day and he doesn't know how to feel about it. Angry? Relieved? Scared? Out of control? Because if he's not Ponytail --- someone who he's been for most of his life, then who is he? He cannot be Twig, no, no. Being Twig was bad. Awful. Painful. Shameful. Twig was a weakling. So, he must become someone else. Several someone else's. Shedding his skin to survive. His remission succeeds in some part and fails in others because he becomes even more repressed and volatile for it, but he does learn how to channel himself even more effectively. Might've even had a big imposter syndrome for a while where he felt his reformed self is just an act, because he's acted out things for so long and he cannot tell what is what. Maybe it is an act, in a certain sense? Maybe it is the truth? He doesn't know. Hates not knowing. Throws himself into the pursuit of other things for more distraction. Like honing the piano. Karate's a forgotten friend. He goes back to it in secret, and when he does, he plays the piano forte with even more tenacity.
2010's - Reinvention! Strategic reinvention, anyhow. Terry views himself and his personality, how he acts, the people he keeps around the way a corporation views marketing itself to the public of consumers in order to cover up his indiscretions from the past --- he is a shrewd businessman, after all; Indiscretions, which are a great and many and while the advent of the Internet era and keeping all the knowledge in the world in one's pocket has many perks (like cyberstalking, which he'd adore) there is also the problem that people can simply look up all the morally and ethically questionable stuff he did, say, in the 70's, 80's and the 90's. The information is just a click away. The world is infinitely smaller now, and it fits into a person's Twitter feed. So, he does well to clear his reputation, have his PR team finely comb the web for any apprehensible material, clear his own image to maintain a pristine publicity and even have his people write a few puff pieces for him (Like that article Demetri finds about him being The hero of our generation and a war veteran with baby blue eyes! I mean, look at those eyes! Subscribe for more! Next up, discussing Mr. Silver's charitable donations to Borneo...and his abs!) Now, even if Terry did something bad in the past, the newer generation is less likely to know, because it is immaculately hidden, just like he is immaculately hidden, beneath a mask.
2020's - The Terry of Cobra Kai's era in this long timeline right here.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but can you describe the different strains of Malamutes? And why/how there are still some pure Kotzebue left when the strains have all been mixed?
There are no pure strains of Kotzebue left. They are ALL mixed. Kotzebue strains were just the last to become muddled because the Kotzebue breeders were much more resistant to change when the studbooks were reopened to the other strains (I’d say the last pure Kotzebue were probably in the ‘90′s or early 2000′s just based on my general knowledge and poking around in pedigrees, certainly some may still be living, however when it comes to breeding/genetic diversity...well they are all closely related.)
So the strains of Alaskan Malamute...there are three distinct strains: Kotzebue, M’Loot and Hinman-Irwin. Here is what they look like in comparison to each other:
Tumblr media
I won’t talk much about the Hinman-Irwin Strain...it is more like a family of a few dogs, they come into the modern Alaskan Malamute pedigree from a few dogs in Vermont (!!) and the rest of New England...Originally brought into the lower 48 from Alaska by Arctic Explorer Dave Irwin pictured below with one of his dogs:
Tumblr media
The Kotzebue strain is the strain developed by Milton & Eva Seeley after they took over Arthur Walden’s sled dog kennel in Wonalancet, New Hampshire (known as Chinook Kennels after the Seeley takeover after Walden’s lead dog that died in the Antarctic and father of the Chinook breed). These dogs were mainly bred to go on Antarctic expeditions. The Seeley’s developed both the modern Malamute and the modern Siberian Husky and were a huge part in their registration as official breeds with the AKC.  The first registered Malamutes were Kotzebue born in 1929. Their mother was a dog from Greenland called Bessie and their father was Yukon Jad, a dog that had been transported to New Hampshire from Labrador).
Tumblr media
Above is Ch. Gripp of Yukon, the first Champion in the breed and one of the puppies from the litter I described above. He looks very much like the Malamutes we see today. The Kotzebue strain was broad, strong, and shorter on leg than other strains, they were almost always gray & white. The Original Standard (before the other strains were accepted) describes the dogs as Males: 22-25 inches and 65-85 pounds, Females: 20-23 inches, 50-70 pounds).
Alaskan Malamutes were used heavily in World War II, because of the toll the war (and the previous Antarctic expeditions) took on the breed, the population dwindled (maybe 30 registered Malamutes existed). The Kennel Club decided to open up the studbooks to another strain of unregistered Malamutes, the M’Loot strain. Paul Voelker had developed this strain independently of the Seeley’s. His dog’s were descended from gold rush & army dogs. Voelker bred the dogs mostly to be family companions. The M’Loot’s came in more colors (red, white, etc.), were taller, with less bone, better rear angulation and were prone to dog aggression. Their had weaker head pieces (pin heads like Sigurd!).
Tumblr media
Above is Gentleman Jim, an army dog prominent in many modern pedigrees.
Because of the slight difference in height, the Standard was revised when they were allowed to be registered. (Most M’Loot’s were around 85 pounds at the higher end of the original standard, some even larger...up to about 100 pounds, not often more than that).
The M’Loot dogs immediately because very successful show dogs because they were big and flashy. Eva Seeley did not agree with the inclusion of these dogs into the breed and did not think of them as Malamutes, but the breed club persisted. The Kotzebue and M’Loot people did NOT like each other and the strains did not mix for some time until Robert Zoller was looking for an Alaskan Malamute and wasn’t fully satisfied with either M’Loot or Kotzebue, finding faults in both strains that could be corrected and refined to create a more structurally balanced dog (he describes his selection process in his memoir book titled “Boy, Am I Ever Lucky!”).
When Zoller mixed the strains he got dogs like Ch. ROM Apache Cheif of Husky Pak aka “Geronimo”, the first ever AMCA Dog of the Year (pictured below at a show win with his equally successful bitch littermate).
Tumblr media
The mixed strained dogs were so successful that other breeders began mixing strains and the divisions between the strains slowly ceased to be (Zoller being on the AMCA Committee was helpful too).
Lots of unethical breeders today will use strain names as a special” marker to make their puppies more appealing. The M’Loot name is use widely by giant breeders to excuse the out of standard size of their dogs as something unique and special, but if one looks at actual M’Loot dogs you can see they were big, but not unusually large and not heavily boned AT ALL like many of these giant dogs ...below is King M’Loot, a pure M’Loot dog:
Tumblr media
Paul Voelker also describes his strain in a newspaper advertisement as 85 pounds ideally.

It's a taken for granted assumption that if they fit your profile, your product or service should be a "fit" for them. But really, how much sense does it make to have assumptions about someone you've never spoken with, much less had a conversation with? How much can you possibly know about their problems, issues, needs, time frame, budget, decision making process, or other key information? Can you imagine how it feels to the person on the other end of the phone when you presume to know what's "best" for them? They don't know you, and they don't trust you nfl jerseys. So people naturally move into a defensive place. So it's best to move away from making any assumptions when you make your cold calls. Wolffy Liveblogs TMA: Ep85-90: You Could Make a Religion Out of This
Good news: I’m getting through episodes faster, and soon I won’t have to worry about being spoiled and can discuss theories without being A Sweet Summer Child(TM)
Bad news: aaaaaaah I’m listening faster than I can write!
Ep 85:  "I just mine whatever I find that I can make scary," says Author!Jonny, as he makes a children's poem scary.
(I'm surprised that that's a Spiral episode? Like, it contains spirals, but slowly becoming less real doesn't seem that spiral-ly? I'd peg it as Stranger or Lonely, IMO. It’s definitely Spiral feeling, in that there’s that thread of surreality and unreality, and it’s the feelings that matter, but I’m used to there being more of a line up between feeling and MO.) (Also, thinking about it, Stranger and Spiral often are aiming for similar--if distinct-- feelings. ‘Reality is wrong because I’m losing my mind’ vs ‘Reality is wrong because holyshitwhatisTHAT?’)
Also, I love the conversation with Georgie and Jon about Hungarian food. I like all the scenes where getting outside of the statements. They're humanising and fun.
86: So, this one is fitting a pattern, and along with Uncanny Valley, pretty much confirms a theory I have. The greebly-things want to scare you, and they will escalate if you stop being scared. See the shrinking box, "the blanket never protected you", and 'gdi the plumber never noticed, okay, TAKE TWO EVERYBODY'
87: ...I now know even less about the Unknowing than when I started. That seems appropriate. I mean, I’m still pretty sure it involves breaking(?) how knowledge(?) works? But I’m just not sure where the skin covered dancers come in, you know?
Also: Hey Jude! [strums air guitar] (sorry I had to). I’m glad she’s showing up! I’m not surprised, she definitely seemed to be important from her intro (you know a character is important if they have Thematic Tattoos) but I do like her.
And Jon can't stop recording :(
88: ...Martin doesn’t seem to realise ‘full operational discretion’ is a euphemism for ‘homicide’. At least Basira does? I’m glad she’s going to try and prevent any coming homicides.
The idea of the opposite of semantic satiation is really interesting and creepy, along with a book that compels you to dig.
(Though when he mentioned digging through layers of history, I had a moment of “Oh, so you’re a sedimentary person” with great judgment, before a second later I realised “...wait, I’m a sedimentary person*.”)
*I have somehow ended up going from igneous rocks to being a Weird Paleontologist. I am accidentally a sedimentary person, but I still have the immediate judgy instincts of a certain kind of igneous person. Woops.
89: Apparently Jon has mind control powers? I mean, it makes a certain sort of sense, but I didn’t see it coming.
And I really like Jude Perry. I shouldn’t, she is terrible people-- but I’m a sucker for religious characters and religious worldbuilding, what can I say? And I like the way she articulates the Lightless Flame (which I know is ‘officially’ called the Desolation, but I’m sticking with Lightless Flame, because the destruction you can’t see coming that provides heat and pain but no light is a very important aspect of it IMO.)
She also talks about the need for... whatever she and Jon are to ‘eat.’ And I’m starting to wonder if Elias sending Jon statements is the equivalent of leaving a dish out on your porch for that cat that’s run away, you know? Making sure Jon doesn’t starve(?) to death(?).
And Jon: you idiot. Don’t touch the hot thing. I realise you could argue he decided to do it because he really wanted to know where Mike Crew was... but the fact that he only shook her hand after she said it wouldn’t hurt makes it seem like he was at least a little bit tricked. (I cannot judge. I have also burned myself in the pursuit of knowledge, by touching a thing I knew was likely to be hot, and it was in the pursuit of much more mundane knowledge. (”Is this too hot to touch?” YES.))
90: The fact that not being in the Archives if you work there effs you up is... weird and concerning. Like everything about the Archives, really. But still. (I’m also worried about Jon and his sabbatical, considering he has to have been away longer than Tim, and he’s probably closer and therefore more affected than him--)
I like this statement giver. I like how he has mixed feelings about what happened there. Yes, it was terrifying-- but he could have had a perfect body, if he hadn’t flinched. And maybe that would have been worth it. Or maybe not.
I am boggling at the concept of Jared Hopworth caring about harm minimisation (eg wanting to make sure the guy was taking steroids relatively safely.) It’s... not what I would have expected.

Major Differences Between iOS App Development & Android App Development
https://www.medhaavi.in/In the battle for mobile supremacy, the market has long-since consolidated into a two-way battle between Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. As of March 2019, it was estimated that these two platforms accounted for 99.1% of all smartphones in the U.S. With avid fans on both sides of the divide, each platform has distinct advantages and disadvantages for users and developers alike. Over the years, some of these differences have lessened, with each platform “borrowing” the best ideas from the other. Even so, there are still major areas that differentiate the two rivals, especially for app developers. Development Languages One of the biggest differences between the two platforms is the choice of development languages. Android apps are predominantly written in Java, Kotlin or C++. Of the three, Java and Kotlin are the best options for creating full-featured apps. For a long time, Java was the only way to unlock Android’s full potential. With Google’s decision to add Kotlin as an officially supported language, however, developers now have an easier, faster, more modern language to base their development on. In contrast, iOS apps are largely written in Objective-C or Apple’s newer Swift language. Similar to the relationship between Kotlin and Java, Swift represents the newest evolution of Apple’s programming language, being faster, easier to learn and more modern. Compatibility and Fragmentation Another major factor in development is the number of devices and operating system (OS) versions developers must target. Because of Android’s open nature, virtually any company can create hardware running Android. This can be a challenge for developers to ensure their app is optimized on the widest array of options. Similarly, because of its decentralized nature, the Android market is often heavily splintered between current and past OS versions. Apple, on the other hand, is the sole maker of iOS hardware and directly controls iOS updates. As a result, there are relatively few hardware designs iOS app developers must account for and iOS users tend to adopt new OS versions much faster than Android users. Open Policy vs Walled-Garden One of the defining differences between the two platforms is as much a philosophical difference as a practical one. Google tends to take a hands-off approach to controlling and moderating what developers can and cannot do. Developers have general guidelines suggesting how an app should look and function, but no one forces developers to comply. Similarly, there is no lengthy review process for apps submitted to the Google Play Store. In contrast, Apple takes a more hands-on approach, viewing themselves as the gatekeepers to the walled-garden that is iOS. Apple’s guidelines are more requirement than suggestion, while each and every app must past a review process before being released on the App Store. Market Share & Revenue Another difference between the two platforms is their relative market share. In the U.S. Android accounts for 52.1%, with iOS comprising 47%. In the rest of the world, however, it’s a much different story. It’s estimated that, worldwide, Android enjoys 85% of the mobile OS market. For a developer, that disparity in market share is a big difference between the two platforms, especially when it comes to marketing and monetizing an app. It’s entirely possible for an Android app to have a smaller portion of a specific market, yet still have millions more users than a comparable iOS app. That being said, while Android is the undisputed market share champion, market share only tells half the story. For years, Apple’s App Store has consistently generated more revenue than Google’s Play Store. Despite Android’s growing base and popularity, the revenue disparity has continued to increase—in Apple’s favor. In fact, as of the end of 2018, it was estimated that Apple’s App Store generated almost 93% more than the Play Store. As a result, it’s important for developers to weigh market share versus paying users. While Android has a clear advantage in the former area, Apple dominates the latter. iOS vs Android: Two Sides of the Same Coin
While iOS and Android development have much in common, their differences are just as clear as ever. In many ways, they represent deep, fundamental differences in how the two companies view the mobile market, as well as their role in protecting/enabling their users.

EXTREMELY EXCITED to see you, a favorite writer, getting into MAG, a fave podcast. IT'S SO GOOD!!! It's only more fun from where you're at. If you're inclined, pls share any of your thoughts re: best character, favorite moments, spooky moment etc
I’m really loving The Magnus Archives!! My favorite genre has first and foremost always been horror! And I’m so very picky! But I really, really love TMA! Usually I don’t even like eldritch type horror, but the writing in TMA is so spectacular and well done that I’m 100% in it to win it here. I listened to like 80 episodes in like 4 days, and now I’m on episode 85. I’ve significantly slowed down due to being busy and wanting to Concentrate on the episodes when I listen, so I try to only listen when I cook or do mindless things (which I can’t do during homework and I’m getting ready to move so I’ve thrown out most of my food, which is why I’ve slowed down a lot). But I’m still really enjoying it! I know generally where it’s going? I see spoilers a lot, so I know who Peter is even though I haven’t actually met him in the podcast outside of statements yet, for example. And I know a general outline of other things that happen, but not a ton in detail. I’m getting there, but I’m not up to date just yet! So take my answers so far with a grain of “not caught up” salt!
Favorite character probably has to be Martin atm. I saw a lot of him before I started the podcast and so developed a bias early on. The weird thing is, I keep expecting him to be like?? Softer and more lenient than he is in canon? Maybe bc of art I saw and how people describe him early on. But just because he often offers tea to Jon and wants everyone to stop being mean doesn’t mean he’s quiet and subservient and has no backbone either! He really has a spine! He’s snappy and sarcastic and holds grudges! He’s extremely petty and capable of being rude sometimes! Just because he wants everything to be peaceful doesn’t mean he’s always sweet and kind, and I really like that. (I hear rumblings about what he’s been up to recently, and I am Worried But Trusting in his decisions). So I like Martin a lot!
Jon has the best voice and I love that he’s usually the narrator. I don’t always agree with his actions, but man, is he good to listen to.
Favorite Spooky Moment is really hard!! There are so many, and they are so very good!! Maybe my favorite episode so far is “A Guest For Mr. Spider”? I really liked the formatting of that. I think I’m going to hear lines from that book in Jon’s voice in my head for a long time. The title alone really gets me. That said, I recently had a conversation with some friends about zip-lining and cave diving and stuff, and I kept flashing back to the episodes about the sisters who get trapped in the cave and also the skydiver who got eaten by the sky. So those have really stuck with me too! I think some of these episodes are gonna sneak up on me in the future when I’m not expecting it.
Oh! And the finale of Season 1 too! I love episodes that are multiple POVs of the same event! Especially in a horror context!
There are so many characters in this podcast that I have some difficulty keeping up with all of them in the statements sometimes. Like, I kept hearing about Peter and it took way too long to realize the Peter I saw whispers about in posts and was Captain Peter who we had already met through statements (though I have not officially heard his voice or anything just yet). Also I kept conflating Mike and Michael for a hot minute there. Those are dumb mistakes to make, but I’m working on it! Speeding through the eps and not sparing the time to really Sit Down and Think about it probably didn’t help, haha. I’m clearing it all up now! I should probably stop looking at posts that involve stuff I haven’t gotten to yet. That would help.
The writing in TMA is so good and distinct that idk if I could ever write fic for it? But I’m very tempted. Definitely not a possibility at least until I catch up though. But I have a lot of feelings about Martin and his canonical unrequieted (for now? idk, it is a tragedy podcast) feelings @ Jon. Also a lot of feelings about the Web, though I wanna learn way more first.
tl;dr I keep listening to Nobody by Mitsuki and thinking about Martin as I do my homework. And I love horror!!!

MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT SERVICES
The rapid growth of mobile devices such as smartphone smartphones and tablet tablets is considered the ideal environment for mobile applications to become famous. Every day, tens of thousands of applications are launched on Apps Store, Google Play, or other app stores.
These applications not only meet the needs of human interaction, entertainment but also serve many different purposes like sales, management, education, health, and so on. With that being said, the mobile app development service is tailored to be perfect and functional.
WHAT IS MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT SERVICES?
Mobile applications are becoming an essential and highly beneficial marketing tool. A popular mobile application design provides many useful aspects for users such as beautiful interface, outstanding features.
Users only need to download to use it freely without network (e.g., games, books, cooking, etc.). So mobile application downloads are increasing rapidly with dizzying speed.
Surprisingly, there is no such official definition for mobile application development services. But simply put, this is the activity of app developers building, designing and developing software, applications running on mobile devices. These applications are built by smart algorithms to give users the best mobile device experience possible.
These applications can be preloaded on phones in production platforms or distributed as web applications using server-side or client-side processing (e.g., JavaScript) to provide coverage application experience in the Web browser.
Application software developers must also consider an extended range of screen sizes, hardware specifications, and configurations because of the intense competition in mobile software and changes in each platform.
Mobile application development services have grown steadily, in revenue and jobs created. An analysis report in 2018 estimated that 10 million jobs were directly employed in 28 EU members, 85% of which were mobile app developers.
What is mobile app development service?
iOS APP DEVELOPMENT OR ANDROID DEVELOPMENT?
If you are app developers, developing an app for Android or IOS is still the question presented on the drawing board. We know IOS is a popular one, run on every Apple products.
And its main rival, Android by Google, are also deemed to be the big name, if not biggest. Each of these two platforms has its own distinct features, customers, coding language, and even the cost to maintain for a Mobile app developer to choose from.
iOS or Android who will win?
iOS APP DEVELOPMENT
Creating by Steve Jobs back in 2007, IOS continuously upgraded and extended as it’s now a home for more than 2.1 million applications, with hundreds of features, such as gesture recognition supports and personal assistant Siri, and several more…
Apple’s iOS and compatible apps like iTunes, a media player app mainly focus on music, which unfortunately will discontinue its mother developer in 2019, And a data storage service name ICloud,  saving billions of documents, or maybe hundred photos of your precious dogs that you resist to delete.
With iOS, creating an app meant to be without any difficulties. Their target audience is mostly teenagers, and around North America, Western Europe, and Australia. iOS users are also businessman entrepreneurs, and mostly wealthy.
iOSrun on Swift, an original programming language by Apple, which gives mobile app development service more flows and structures to work on, more comfortable to create apps. However, putting an app on iOS is not easy, consider that Apple App store follows stringent rules and depends a lot on design and interface.
That is why the cost to create and maintain the apps on IOS is quite expensive and requires a lot. Other than that, it is somewhat a good idea to choose iOS as a platform to launch your applications.
ANDROID APP DEVELOPMENT
Presented in 2008, Androids, on the other hand, runs on multiple smartphone devices and praised by its versatility. Initially developed by Android Inc., Google has second-handedly brought glory to this mobile operative system; while still giving freedom to hardware manufacturers and Android’s devices users.
Android has various of usages beyond one software can comprehend, such as experimenting on non-phone electronics, a gaming platform such as Google Play or even an open-source platform for a lot of mobile application development service thrive their creations.
Having a lot of large smartphone brands such as SAMSUNG, Pixel, HUAWEI, and many more…, Android is taking over its target audience in Asia and South America. Many new features have been found in the upcoming Samsung Note X and Galaxy Fold. And an introduction for Android Q Beta 3 which reminds a lot of people of an IOS design.
With some comments about the lacks of appealing aesthetic, Android, using Java as their programming code, remains its creativity and gives their audience an easily customizable interface, and becoming more and more advanced in the eyes of the apps developers.
Monetization is significant to apps developers because customers tend to download the free app rather than paying in-App like Apple.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR APP DEVELOPMENT SERVICE TEAM?
Our two main tiers for developing an app are Design and Development. If you want to pitch a perfect app idea, an excellent development service team is required. Mobile app developer and designer, a skilled IT team, will guide you through a list of thing they can do.
Even if they are proficient, don’t let your opulence blinds you, they may claim to be expertise and promise to build you a beautiful website, your ideas of how to make it are priorities, and you have to control your team to produce your perfect, million worth app.
Why do we need a perfect app development team?
WHO WILL BE YOUR PERFECT SMARTPHONE APPLICATIONS DEVELOPERS?
To pick out a perfect team, you will have to understand these app companies and select the best option.
Some app development services will do all the work for you; these companies have proficient skills, proper management; some will even offer a marketing strategy. With that being said, a company like such must be extremely experienced, you should to ask some of their previous product, rather than ask what they can do.
Another difficulty is a different idea; somewhere along the way, you may find yourself disapprove your team works. It must be said. Otherwise, your app will be a misfit and out of place.
While these companies control most of your apps, others are required to just focus on one or two things, which is developing and designing your ideal app.
If your app is lacking pretty interface or overall messy, you need to find a team of professional designers, but do be careful, wisely pick a qualified team of designers and again, ask for their product, if they aren’t advanced, they usually don’t have an art director for UX/UI design.
And if you want a developer team full of IT experts and coder, make sure they can do cross-platform coding, whether it is Android or iOS.
SHOULD YOU DO MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT YOURSELF?
As mentioned before, the demand for mobile phones is now increasing significantly, as those who use the phone often keep their eyes on many different applications which stand out and attracts them. Therefore, mobile programming is becoming very captivating for a lot of people.
The app store model is like a software supermarket. Programmers have the opportunity to interact with millions of customers on the app store. Those who know mobile programming can work for software companies, especially when their code skills are strong, implementing the idea into an app will become easier.
Other can quickly make money from writing as well as selling applications without mobile app development service. The app store model is like a software supermarket. Programmers have the opportunity to interact with millions of customers on the app store.
HOW TO DEVELOP YOUR OWN MOBILE APPLICATION?
All tools and documents are available for your reference. However, the most important thing is that you must have a good source of motivation and environment to study, exchange, and get the best support. In other words, whether your mobile application is going to be favorable depends on many factors.
First and foremost, you should acknowledge the urge of competitiveness by carefully take into consideration that the startup market has existed for quite a while now and there is a wide range of well-trained app developers who are currently working day-to-day to launch new projects.
Knowing your audience well is another critical point to achieve success. Most of the ideas are targeted to a specific task or function rather than a particular audience. Target audience only becomes significant at the planning stage of marketing. However, you never should underestimate your target audience. After all, those are the ones responsible for the success of your application
The mobile platform that you will be focusing on also plays a crucial role.  In the world of mobile devices, Android and iOS are still the most popular and optimal operating systems today. In short, to develop mobile applications for a specific platform, it is more convenient if you apply the language supported by that platform.
  IS THAT A GOOD IDEA?
The best thing about being an app developer is to bring your ideas to life by turning it into a selling application. However, accomplishing it and bringing it to the user is not a simple thing, and only a few wrong actions can lead to an application’s failure.
Regardless of your career, if you do not have a career orientation and a clear plan, the path you will take is going to be difficult and frustrating. It is also the first thing that those who step into this path need to remember. Many difficulties will arise during app creation.
For example, you can sit for hours, even days, to code an application, but when it is almost done, you have to give up and replace it with a faster, more accurate solution. This is very difficult to accept, but inevitably, you will encounter this situation if you study programming.
You need to understand that programming changes very quickly, and there are many good ways to approach problems. Finding a new solution is the reason for programming.
In general, this is a high-income and attractive job, and it also allows you to create, solve problems, and understand yourself more. Indeed, it will be more difficult when you create your own without having a mobile app development service, but when it is finished, you will feel very worthy of what you have spent.
WHY SHOULD YOU CHOOSE A CUSTOM MOBILE APP DEVELOPMENT SERVICE?
Choose mobile app development service team know what they are doing…
Custom software development (also referred to as bespoke software or tailor-made software) is the process of designing software applications for a specific user or user group within an organization. Such software is designed to accurately address their needs and preferences as opposed to traditional and more popular software.
Developing customized mobile applications is the perfect choice due to its several utilities. Consider this simple example. Two grocery stores offer customers a nearly identical range of goods. But at the same time, they have completely different tactics and goals. Thus they cannot have the same application. The design and functionality of the application should depend on the intent of each store and in each case.
The notable feature of developing customized mobile applications is the ability to deploy your ideas exactly the way you envision. In other words, developing a customized application to meet your business needs, and the final product will fit into your business’s operational path. In contrast, available application development solutions provide a common platform for everyone to cover as many companies as possible.
Customizable walkways also allow the development of a personalized strategy for each customer. This is feasible due to the combination of analytical tools with the early stages of app development. You can follow each guest’s preferences and create personalized suggestions to serve their needs. Forming close relationships with customers has never been so easy.
Finally, it indeed creates a highlight for the company. Return to the example of two grocery stores. One prioritizes delivery at home, while the other relies on a loyalty program. Therefore, mobile applications should emphasize the factors that make the difference of proposals.
The custom application is completely capable of doing this. Meanwhile, pre-built mobile application solutions are created to provide defined functions. Therefore, these apps cannot expand the features, so the company’s mobile proposals will be limited. In case you try to add some features, your app will become like a fake car – with good looks but lousy performance.
CONCLUSION
In short, the success of the mobile application development business depends on the dynamism and creativity. It also poses the problem of how to provide users with the best digital experience. The more social and media develop the more mobile applications developers need to pay more attention to the future direction of the mobile industry.
Now when you have fully understood the concept of a mobile application development service, go out there and spread your wings!

Pedophilia is a sexual orientation
“By the above definition of sexual orientation and most common definitions of sexual orientation pedophilia can be viewed as a sexual age orientation based on the more limited evidence available regarding its age of onset, associations with sexual and romantic behavior, and stability over time. Though there are clearly differences in some respects, there are also striking similarities in the research literature on pedophilia.”
“Minor attraction is a complex sexual phenomenon that is best conceived of as a sexual orientation. Minor-attracted people appear to experience their sexuality in much the same way adult-attracted people do, albeit towards a socially unacceptable target. Given the somewhat arbitrary nature of this social distinction, the basis for the pathologization of minor attraction is questionable. The current study adds to evidence of similarities between minor attraction and other sexual minority orientations. It also shows that the experiences of minor-attracted people are quite varied. By using a non-forensic, non-clinical sample I have been able to capture a much broader range of experiences. This has illuminated not only the hardships that many minorattracted people face, but also the ways in which some have succeeded in overcoming or avoiding these hardships. This provides hope that minor-attracted people are not doomed to live unhappy lives, despite the intense stigma they face.”
“Pedophilia as a Sexual Orientation
DSM-5 did not err in referring to Pedophilia as a sexual orientation. In diagnosing any psychiatric disorder (including a Pedophilic Disorder), ordinarily the intent is to guide patient care, management, and research. In discussing the diagnostic features of individuals who are sexually attracted to prepubescent children, DSM-5 notes that some could be said to have a pedophilic sexual orientation. The term sexual orientation ordinarily reflects an individual’s subjective awareness of the category (or categories) of persons toward whom he or she is erotically attracted. Clinically, there are individuals (many of whom are described as having Pedophilia) who report a subjective awareness of being erotically attracted (either exclusively or in part) toward a category of individuals comprised of prepubescent children. Many report experiencing those attractions as unchosen in a fashion that seems very much like an orientation. That such attractions are often unwanted does not alter their resemblance to an orientation.”
Therapy is about self acceptance and having a community.
“The best treatment for the isolated minority syndrome is obviously group therapy or self-help organizations. Experienced members of such groups can function as positive identification models for less experienced members with the same or a similar paraphilia, and teach them how to find a matching partner and how to live a sex life that is satisfying to both parties. The formation of such organizations for all common paraphilias should be encouraged and supported, and any person who suffers from the isolated minority syndrome should be encouraged to become a member of such organizations and subscribe to their publications.”
This is an email sent to Discord after they terminated a discord group made for MAPs.
“Professionals helped some of these men accept their pedophilic interests by separating their sexual attraction from their sexual behavior and by managing their sense of selves (e.g., distancing themselves from stories of “child rapists” [25 p8]). Engaging with other pedophilic individuals helped these men see that others with their interests were able to avoid offending, which brought a sense of hope. Having other social supports that knew about their interests helped because their supports could help them maintain boundaries with children, challenge potentially distorted thinking, and provide them with feedback regarding their behavior with children.”
“The preferred model of treatment is LGBT affirmative psychotherapy, which  treats sexual feelings as innate, unchangeable and subject to personal acceptance. The American Psychological Association provides guidelines on its website (see below). Applied to the minor-attracted person, affirmative therapy separates sexual orientation from its expression, emphasizing acceptance and personal growth. This in no way endorses sexual contact between adults and minors.
Awareness of the shame, stigma and fear of exposure that MAPs experience due to their sexual and emotional feelings is crucial to treatment.”
Child molesters are more likely not MAPs.
“Two groups of those sexually offending against children can be distinguished:
▪ Those showing no sexual preference disorder, but who, for different reasons, sexually abuse children seeking a surrogate. This group comprises e.g. sexually inexperienced adolescents, mentally retarded persons, those with anti-social personality disorders and perpetrators within general traumatizing family constellations – and accounts for approximately 60% of officially known offenders;
▪ Those showing a sexual preference disorder, namely pedophilia (erotic preference for prepubescent minors, i.e. showing Tanner stage 1) or hebephilia (erotic preference for pubescent minors, i.e. showing Tanner stages 2 and 3). These account for approximately 40% of officially known offenders.”
Seto & Lalumi`ere (2001) found that 40% of a sample of 1113 sex offenders showed equal or greater sexual arousal to stimuli depicting children compared with stimuli depicting adults.
Maletzky & Steinhauser (2002) reported that 43% of the 5223 sex offenders in their sample were diagnosed as pedophiles on the basis of their sexual offense histories
Estimates for the rate of pedophilia in detected child molesters generally range between 25% and 50%.
A 2006 study found that 35% of its sample of child molesters were pedophilic
MAPs are oppressed in our society for being MAPs.
“"How in the world can anyone go through every day living with this curse and not want to fling themselves off the nearest bridge on a daily basis?”
“When you have a sexual preference that is as stigmatizing as pedophilia, then there’s nowhere to go with it, there’s no one to really talk to about it,” said Professor Michael Miner, one of the study’s co-authors. “So you stew in your isolation, which certainly makes one depressed.”
Todd Nickerson is a 42-year-old pedophile from Tennessee. Struggling to come to terms with his sexual identity caused him many years of crippling depression. “I look back on it now and find it amazing that I never got to the point where I picked up a gun and ended it,” he told me. “There were days when I got up and it was all I could think about. I’d tell myself, ‘I just want to die. I just want to die.’ All day, for days on end.”“
"An innocent man was viciously beaten and then burned to death by vigilante neighbours who wrongly believed rumours that he was a paedophile.”
“The grieving family of a man found hanged in a cemetery claim he was driven to suicide following paedophile accusations on Facebook.”
Sexualizing children in fictional stuff harms no one. Yes, it’s okay to portray children in sexual themes, as long as you don’t show any sexual stuff to an actual child and you don’t touch inappropriately a child or be involved in a romantic relationship with a child.
"The most dramatic decrease in sex crimes was seen when attention was focused on the number and age of rapists and victims among younger groups (Table 2). We hypothesized that the increase in pornography, without age restriction and in comics, if it had any detrimental effect, would most negatively influence younger individuals. Just the opposite occurred. The number of juvenile offenders dramatically dropped every period reviewed from 1,803 perpetrators in 1972 to a low of 264 in 1995; a drop of some 85% (Table 1). The number of victims also decreased particularly among the females younger than 13 (Table 2). In 1972, 8.3% of the victims were younger than 13. In 1995 the percentage of victims younger than 13 years of age dropped to 4.0%.
In 1972, 33.3 % of the offenders were between 14-19 years of age; by 1995 that percentage had decreased to 9.6%. Thus, over the period in question, there was a major shift in the proportion of victims and offenders from the younger categories to older categories.”
In regards to all sexualities, fictional content and violent fantasies don’t harm anyone, it has even beneficial outcomes.
“Taken together, these findings are offered in support of the hypothesis that the occurrence of force fantasies, rather than resulting from an attempt to deal with sexual guilt, represents one of a number of ways in which some women demonstrate a relatively open, unrestricted, and varied approach to their sexuality.”
“Pornography continues to be a contentious matter with those on the one side arguing it detrimental to society while others argue it is pleasurable to many and a feature of free speech. The advent of the Internet with the ready availability of sexually explicit materials thereon particularly has seemed to raise questions of its influence. Following the effects of a new law in the Czech Republic that allowed pornography to a society previously having forbidden it allowed us to monitor the change in sex related crime that followed the change. As found in all other countries in which the phenomenon has been studied, rape and other sex crimes did not increase. Of particular note is that this country, like Denmark and Japan, had a prolonged interval during which possession of child pornography was not illegal and, like those other countries, showed a significant decrease in the incidence of child sex abuse.”
“His first work on the subject, Studies on Pornography and sex crimes in Denmark (1970), was a scientific report ordered by the United States’ President’s Commission on Obscenity and Pornography. It found that the legalizing of pornography in Denmark had not (as had been expected) resulted in an increase in sex crimes.[4]”
