I am enjoying it, but what throwed me off of from the all be my slave because you owed me money thing. Is that I read the plots of the novel series from the Foureveryou project and the second story of that has a similar-ish concept:

The character Bas plays gets in trouble trashing a bar on a night out after a fight with someone and I think it's love interest bar, and he says I will handle the money from the damage but you have to do something for me and in the novel that's kisses.

Mydramalist doesn't mention crew or directors or anything but StudioWabiSabi is still New right?

So what initially throw me off is that I was expecting it on a different project and now he is doing something similar twice.

I'm genuinely struggling to write about We Are. I decided not to post Stray Thoughts last night because they were mostly bored grumbling. We've been with the show for two hours already and it feels like it's still setting the table. It's like watching the actors' IG reels half the time.

There was almost a moment with the discussion about simple and complex art, but I'm not giving that to New Siwaj with all of his meandering projects. I'm also annoyed that this man is doing a BE MY SLAVE narrative in 2024.

Probably not going to check in on this show often.

So I have been trying to keep up with the FoureverYou Project because I miss Cooheart and I am dying to see him paired up with Pond (180 Degrees) and I want to see Bas in something else too.

MDL doesn't list the directs or crew of this series. But I have been assuming it's New Siwaj because it's Wabi Sabi.

Recently I was reminded that Perfect10 liners is confirmed to be a New project as well. And this show is also shooting.

Now I have seen bts and vlog stuff from the Fourever You Project on New's instagram so I know he is on set for that. And the Q dates never match up between the two projects.

So I am forced to assume that New Siwaj is directing two projects with huge casts and multiple ships of 16 Episodes (Fourever You) and basically 30 Episodes - 10 x Ships (Perfect10 Liners) at the same time. And I don't think that's a great idea.

Multitasking on that level sounds awful for his health for one. And for two I am not convinced you can do justice to two big projects like this while splitting your time.

I am not sure where I am going with this. I am just re-adjusting my expectations early I guess.

Of course this could be more normal then I think and therefor not a big deal. If anybody as any info on another director who shot two bls at the same time or if that's common or whatever. Let me know. I would love to be wrong to be worried.

Hi Petty, a while back you commented on one of my old Fourever You Project updates saying that Cooheart was hanging out with Domundi guys. Can I ask where did you find that info? I am not really good at looking up these kind of things and I am trying to follow a hunch.

Oh, buddy, follow me down the yellow brick road of ridiculousness, so you can see just how crazy I really am.

So the only real evidence is Earth's insta! [Link] It was a Crocs event, but New (the director of We Are and possibly Fourever You) was there too with the newest generation of Domundi boys.

However, New has been showing up in several of Earth's photos like this recent one from last week, so no big deal.

And this Crocs event was during Songkran when everyone was hanging out with everyone casually, so it shouldn't be a big deal because the Twitter folks claimed Earth was hanging out with his bestie Isbanky (and his boyfriend, Mos, which Earth has stated several times in videos with Isbanky) but Earth had to do his event, so no pictures have surfaced of them all together, just very blurry videos, so Isbanky and Mos were hanging with GMMTV's Joong and Domundi's James, but Joong knows everyone and he had a public back-and-forth with James on Insta(?) trying to get James to go with him to this event, so the Domundi connection doesn't run directly to Earth here.

But Earth was also chilling with Tutor and Nat at an event late last year, which also isn't a big deal since BL Land is small and everyone knows everyone.

Like Fort used to be Earth's manager or something, so, once, again, "small world"

So everything is no big deal and nothing truly sticks out except it feels like when Barcode showed up with all the Domundi guys in that one video and then we found out he signed with a management group that also manages Domundi events after leaving Be On Cloud.

So for Earth, our Cooheart, to just be chillin' with the newest Domundi boys, so new in fact that I don't even know their names because they are sooo fresh (sorry lady who Cooheart even cropped out of the photo), and Director New feels slightly odd, right?

Twitter and Reddit folks knew Net's new partner was JJ months before it was announced due to some vague comment Net made at an event about his newest partner "hopefully" being younger and someone he knew, then Net liked a picture of JJ with his brother on Insta, and the BL Streets KNEW it was him!

So as much as I'd like to be dismissive and say an event picture is just an event picture, the Twitter and Reddit folks GOT time, and if they say something is sus, it's sus.

And, homie, this is sus.

GMMTV ISN’T CONTRACTUALLY FORCING THEIR ACTORS INTO THE CLOSET

Recently, I saw a fan from the U.S. claiming on TikTok that GMMTV contractually forces their queer actors to keep their sexual identities a secret. Why else would there be so few openly queer actors???

So, first of all, it’s not like the few openly queer actors in GMMTV had to break some corporate closet door to escape, and then GMMTV went, “Aw, shucks. Well, I guess y’all win. We’ll keep paying you, you little rainbowy scamps.” There are only a few of them because being openly queer in Thailand’s media industry is still fucking hard.

Fluke Natouch of Until We Meet Again (and OhmFluke 1.0) fame left his agency years ago to work freelance so he could navigate his career on his own terms. When openly gay director New of Studio Wabi Sabi approached him to offer the role of Pharm, Fluke very actually asked New if he was sure he wanted an openly gay actor in his series. This was a conversation that two openly gay men had! No sexualities whatsoever were hidden in the having of this conversation! Or in the public recounting of it later!

Fluke asked New this because there are still roadblocks for openly queer actors, and as a freelancer, he knew this. Some sponsors are hesitant to have a queer face on their commercials, and some of the industry’s upper management are old bigoted guys holding the purse strings. Why do you think so many of these guys have to appear straight-presenting?

Interfans contribute to the glorification of heteronormativity, too. How many times have I seen interfans lusting over the KinnPorsche actors as “real men” or excusing Joss’s myriad issues over the years because he’s “so hot”?

How many femme actors are given roles with complexity? How many are shunted into comedic roles or tragic figures? How many interfans point at Pharm and complain that He Cries Too Much? You’ve all seen it. “P’DEEEEEAN.”

Regardless of what interfans claim to want, the series that tend to do best nowadays feature straight-presenting actors. Bad Buddy, 2gether, My School President, KinnPorsche, etc.

Ironically, the series that lean hard on queer themes tend not to do as well.

So you can see why most choose to keep at least a veneer of heterosexuality or else keep the glass closet door closed.

New cast Fluke and Cooheart in Until We Meet Again because Studio Wabi Sabi was both agency and production company owned by New, and New could do whatever he wanted. SWS was very much a safe haven for queer actors of all levels of openness.

And regardless of my complaints about New’s directing and perpetual insistence that he do all the editing and sound design himself (stop, man, I’m begging you, learn how to delegate), he has been working for years to create a welcoming space for queer actors in an industry that is still extremely cautious, and I’ll always respect him for that.

As much as people love to hate a corporate body, GMMTV’s myriad flaws are more based in the categories of “terrible organization” and “poor management” and “haphazardly throwing a thousand medicore, half-baked projects at a wall until one of them sticks by chance and then celebrating that surprise hit into the ground”—not “forcing their actors into the closet.”

As far as I’m aware, the only khuujin (“imaginary couple”) in the industry who’s Openly Dating is PorscheArm, and they were already out and together before the fame, so they’re more Public Figures Advocating for Social Progress than they are BL actors. I’d say ZeeNuNew are borderline, because while they seem increasingly more cavalier with their subtlety, even they’ve been excruciatingly careful in their labeling over the past few years. (“Are you a couple?” “You could call us that.”)

And there’s a reason for the caution. Things are changing for the better, but progress is slow.

In an early, post-SOTUS interview from 2016, infant actors KristSingto were point-blank asked by TV hosts if they’re “normal” with a heavy insinuation that they’d be mocked and laughed at unless they asserted their heterosexuality in front of a live audience. Not exactly a warm and kind environment to say, “Actually…” As the first in the line of fire, KristSingto were constantly bombarded with invasive questions and suspicion and homophobia, and it’s only been nine years since SOTUS aired.

Now, you’ve got the evolution of hosts making lewd innuendos at khuujin and trying to “trick” them into Coming Out for content. Yet, all the khuujin seem to know how to play the game Juuuust Right to avoid saying anything concrete and damning, leaving just enough crumbs for fans to pick up on and enjoy.

Because look how the few openly queer actors are treated. Bruce Sirikorn Kananurak’s best-known role is framed villain Aey in Lovely Writer, and Gun Korawit Boonsri is regularly cast as Sassy Gay Side Character. Cooheart gets variety in his roles, but he’s with Studio Wabi Sabi under New, an openly gay CEO who famously allows his actors a ton of freedom in their image. And it says a lot to me that Cooheart didn’t make the move over to GMMTV along with his colleagues last year.

So, y’know, of course I’m not saying GMMTV is paradise. While he was with SWS, Boun said he wanted to get tattoos but New advised him against it because it might have limited potential roles. So New didn’t forbid it, he just cautioned Boun against doing it. Meanwhile, he implied recently that he’d like to dye his hair blond again, but GMMTV has to approve things like that. Hence, you’ll hear about some GMMTV actors who just get a tattoo done or cut their hair without telling anyone and then they show up for work with an insouciant shrug; the beg forgiveness>>>ask permission move.

So GMMTV does have some stupid public image rules, and they have also discouraged certain actors from interacting with each other in case it drives their profit margins down (see: The Chronicles of Management Driving KristGun Apart—I’m making a post about it, don’t worry). And I’m sure the Grammy Powers That Be go ://// if a GMMTV actor says, “Hey, I’m thinking of telling the world I’m bisexual tomorrow,” and go, “Maybe don’t though.” It’s just not something they’re Contractually Obligated to hide; it’s more common sense.

Like I said, GMMTV’s real crimes in my eyes are things like 1) repeatedly trying to push men like Foei and Joss who’ve proven themselves to be toxic nightmares to women and queer people over and over throughout the years, 2) overworking their most popular actors to physical and mental exhaustion, 3) barely promoting their GL productions despite their obvious popularity, 4) shoving their Not Singers onstage with zero vocal training, 5) prioritizing trends over quality, 6) having Zero Plan of what to do Most of the Time, 7) hiring on more and more actors without hiring enough managers to support them, and more.

There’s no “you gotta be Heterosexual-Presenting or else” clause in their contracts. They’re just actors in a conservative Asian country where marriage equality has only recently been recognized, and that’s not even close to having social equality. Plenty of western actors don’t want the extra baggage of being Openly Queer (see the Kit Connor debacle), let alone in a country controlled by military and monarchy.

Thailand isn’t a queer paradise.

Hell, look at Japan: they invented BL and GL and their government isn’t even close to recognizing marriage equality. To the majority of Japanese people, BL and GL are embarrassing subgenres that “Normal People” (ie: what heterosexuals are called in Japan—yes I’m serious) would never publicly admit to enjoying. I know this because I was a Queer Foreigner in Japan for eleven years and my whole existence was weird.

As far as I’ve heard from friends who work with GMMTV, it’s a far more progressive company than many interfans give it credit for. Many of the staff are openly queer, a ton of their directors are openly queer, and their actors who are queer are either open with the understanding that there are limitations to that choice or closeted to protect their job opportunities. Once you’re Openly Queer, you’re pushed into a very different and much smaller box, and they all know it.

So y’know. GMMTV actors aren’t All Straight, and the ones who are queer aren’t Closeted by Force. GMMTV is just a company of people with a wide tapestry of nuance, just like you’d expect from any large organization of artistic and business folk producing queer media for a general audience.

In 2025, let’s please abandon the myth that GMMTV is an evil kpop company. <3

It’s a sloppy, poorly run nightmare factory. :D

Last year I made a (very random) post about QL actors celebrating Bangkok Pride so this year I decided camp the socials again to find familiar faces because it was a lot of fun to do and it made me incredibly happy. 🌈

57. Female/non-binary identifying actor you want to see more of in BL or GL

Silvy!!!! I need more of Silvy! Please, for the love of god, give that gorgeous talented woman more attention!! And I cannot believe I’m about to say this but… let her sing as well! I know, I know, I’m a hypocrite. I hate singing in my QLs, but there is a very short list of actors I don’t mind singing in QLs that I don’t skip over, and Silvy is the one of the actors that is on that list.

Also, this might be breaking the rules a bit because he technically does identify as a male (as far as we know) but I say Cooheart, he is gender nonconforming. And I would absolutely love for him to be allowed to play a character besides a male identifying high school/uni student, Cooheart has the most fierce style and is such a fantastic GNC person. I want studios to allow him to play a character that’s just as fabulous as he is!

So this is when I have to admit that I don’t pay much attention to fashion, either in the shows themselves or the actors outside of the show so I have to admit that I was only able to think of 1 person for this

Earth Katsamonnat aka Cooheart. I don’t feel gender envy often but when I do, it’s usually Cooheart who makes me feel that way. I’ve never seen in him in an outfit he didn’t look amazing in, no matter what he was doing or where he was going.

Though if we’re going with guys that give me gender envy because they dress a certain way

I have a few questions that popped in my head recently and wanted your opinion. I noticed that a lot of GLs that get announced have more openly queer actress then any BL I have ever seen. Do you know why that is? Do you think we will ever get to see Cooheart being properly femme in a BL? Or Fluke Natouch ever had another darker role like in the movie he once did?

Hum well there are so few GL that I think we can't draw any kind of statistical conclusion on this matter, not enough case studies yet.

Hypothetically?

I think GL struggles for many reasons to be made at all and the ones motivated to see them made are queer, so they are more likely to tap their own community for talent. These are passion projects, not cash cows. Also the target audience is more likely to be queer and supportive of this decision, including with their money.

Baldly put? GL just inherently is more likely to have a queer lens and queer agenda because it can afford it, because it's so much less popular with mainstream consumers. Everything is less risky because there is less of a reward.

Oddly, what Asian GL doesn't realize (and hasn't capitalized on) is that GL actually stands a much greater chance of hitting big with a mainstream Western audience, who, (especially in any SF/F tangential genres) find sapphic more palatable (and less threatening) than gay.

If The Sign had been girls? OMG. It might actually have won a Hugo Award.

Only if he moves to Saint's enterprise (Idol Factory). Or something crazy happens with the industry.

I think it's much more likely Fluke will get a darker or more gender bending and boundary pushing parts.

He seems to bounce btw production houses a lot and I know for a fact directors really enjoy working with him. Give him something chewy and interesting Thailand.

Honestly, you know what I want. A super corrupt and kind taboo and little fuzzy professor/student thing. You know like My Bromance but better and with a good ending.

I know I’m not angry because I expected MileApo to be real, I’m mad at him because he didn’t tell the truth from the beginning. As member of LGBTQAI+ community is hard, you know? Fanservice is disgusting marketing, they don’t think about real situation of queer people. Does it matter that there are still countries where homosexuality is punished by death or prison? Or they’re thinking only about money? Do they know how it is? To be struggling with yourself, to be scared to be who you are or/and love whoever you want to love…?

So... what we he lying about, exactly? If you didn't believe them to be real, then what was Mile lying about exactly? I'm not sure, I don't follow actors at all.

Fanservice isn't lying, fanservice is an expected part of their acting career in the country they're from and is simply part of what they have to do to be successful.

I know that it's hard to be in a place that doesn't accept you. That you're in an impossible place when you face those things. And none of this detracts from that pain or that fear.

But fanservice is not causing that. If anything, fanservice is used to normalize this, to create the impression that this is just every day life and that this love is normal.

No one deserves to be scared of who they love or who they are. No one. And actors in Thailand playing gay because that's what their society and their careers expect of them does not create that nor does it make it worse.

Real people cannot queerbait. Real people are living their lives and their careers and doing what they can and what they need to do.

There are a number of out, queer actors from Thailand who have come out despite the danger to their careers and have seen success and love. I recommend looking for them. There's Both and Newyear as well as Porsche and Arm and there's Cooheart and Copter and I really recommend finding them and following them to celebrate queerness.

But Mile or any of the other actors doing fanservice are not at fault for this and they are not doing this to you.

I know life can be bleak and there are a lot of places it's hard to be queer but Thailand just legalized gay marriage and there are steps in the right direction and the world is ever changing. What seemed impossible is not always so.

My First Update x They started to film. At this point in time they also had a fitting day, with Sammy who is a side characters. And Pond and Earth were also in high school uniform probably because there will be flashback involved in their stories.

They filmed with lots of breaks in between Qs and I couldn't understand why until I saw a post that reminded me that Perfect10 liners by New is also a shooting right now.

I expressed my confusiong on New doing a back and forth between project.

They stopped filming in July 12, announced more filming for the 20 and 22. But then on the 18 they announced a Pilot Trailer for Fourever You.

Current projection: The new pilot trailer is to either get more brand deals or to better reprresent the series so they can sell it to another studio (probably not gmmtv, at least if it gets at gmmtv it won't be with cooheart. I don't think cooheart will ever jump ship to gmmtv all places, other places sure, but not gmmtv).

Hopefully we will get to see it sometimes next year. If at all. And hopefully we will get to see cooheart before then too.

Pilot Projection:

There are three ways for this pilot to go

Pilot is using story footage, classical set up for a pilot that vaguely tells you what the story is and the important early beats - Via clothing and locations and the images frin the Qs they shared we can see they are using footage from the Qs. ------ THIS IS BAD! And confusing, because as established in the many updates and this post itself, they are shooting the actual series. So why is the actual series footage would be in a pilot trailer?

Pilot is using story footage - But it's not footages that we can recognize from the Qs. ------ This is stupid. Because that would mean they either filmed this ages ago and realeased this now for unknown reasons. Or stopped filming the actual series to film useless scenes for a pilot trailer that are a copy of scenes that they probably already filmed for the series.

A reacration of the og pilot trailer but with the love interested casted this time and more clear vibes. ----- AKA the good option. Because this one means that mine and @respectthepetty theory is correct. And the series is getting shopped around. My reasoning is: Pilot trailers are to get money and hype from fans. Now the announcement of the pilot and of the hashtag is already generating a bit of hype on twitter. So they have the hype down. But what are they selling? They are in the middle of filming so it's unlikely that it is to attract more brand deals. The only thing left is a licensing deal.)

Some notes:

Santa had some decent showings, but I am struggling to see the vision with his character in Perfect 10 Liners He's removed rom Rookies because he's not a rookie anymore. Same with Mix.

Phuwin was removed from the list entirely because his abilities are very limited. It seems like the role of Pi was made for him, which is why he performed so well then.

First was moved down because I find that he struggles with some of the roles he's typecasted into. He's not completely believable as a bad boy and there's something about him playing opposite Khao that takes away the feeling of him playing a particular character.

Removed Win, Earth Cooheart, and Zee from Honorable Mentions because Win has not impressed me, and Earth and Zee seem to have regressed.

After re-watching Bad Buddy and other Nanon-projects I realized that what made Nanon special in Bad Buddy was his chemistry with Ohm. Otherwise, he's not on the same level as Gun and them.
