💧Juvia would notice and would tell him to not worry about a single thing were you would do nothing to hurt her at all. At first he didn’t trust you one but so he’ll just roll his eyes at her and still be protective.

-Natsu and Lucy have 6 children, yes that's alot and the reason behind it is simple: I don't know when to stop lol.

So there's Nash, the oldest, Nashi, Luna, and then triplets; Fuyu, Aki, and Haru.

The reasons I added the triplets are because I thought it would be neat since Natsu's name means summer, that the triplets' names could be the other three seasons. Fuyu is winter, Aki is autumn, and Haru is spring. So I wanted to keep the popular next generation ideas (Nash, Nashi, Luna) and add my own, so I just uh gave them six kids :3 indecisive? Just pick all duh. If you think I'm indecisive about this, just wait until I ramble about their magic...

-Jellal and Erza have four kids. Reiki, Rose, Emi, and Erin. Reiki and Nash are pining for each other painfully ofc.

-Gajeel and Levy have four children as well. Gail, Lin, and twins Lilly and Lyle.

-Gray and Juvia have five children. Storm, Kaito, Raine, and twins Yuki and Aomi. I love gruvia angst so I've decided that Gray wasn't ready to be a father because Gray is emotionally constipated as we know, he's slow to show affection so when Juvia announced she was pregnant he immediately was thrown off. He doesn't like change, it took him forever to admit he even loved Juvia aloud, and now they were having a kid?

He talked to Erza about his negative feelings towards being a father, because Juvia was ecstatic and he felt guilty feeling such a way. Erza told him that he may feel this way now, and that's fine, but surely when the baby comes, it'll change.

It didn't at first. He didn't get that beautiful spark with a baby as Storm came into the world, he felt nothing but dread and barely held his son. He felt awful about it too.

And then one day while Juvia was resting and he was cradling him to keep him from screaming, he just stared down at his little face, his big eyes staring into his, and Storm smiled.

He smiled at him.

It was his first time smiling, and it was at him. And he felt the spark. He blinked and suddenly a wave of euphoria washed over him. He held his son a bit closer and right then he finally felt like a dad.

As the second one came, the dread he felt was smaller, the initial shock of another baby burned him, but he didn't feel his cold fear as strongly as he did with storm, and by the third and twins? It was gone, he was happy to be a dad. He felt guilty knowing originally he didn't truly want kids, and he'd never tell any of his kids about it.

-Cana has one daughter named Camila, the father is unknown.

-Laxus and Freed have two kids; Reijin (Rei) and Freya.

Fuyu takes good care of me. He's a bit strict, but I know it's because he cares. He always makes sure I drink water, eat, and brush my hair. He even does my hair up sometimes if he can get me to sit still. He let's me snuggle in his tails when I'm cold, and he draws with me too.

Captain Yami

He's big fun! I think it's funny when he teases me! He definitely scared me at first, but he's learned to be a bit more gentle. Not to say I don't enjoy running away from him when I "accidentally" annoy him a bit. It's all in good fun. He thinks it's funny when I'm sassy to rude people. And he laughs when I make up funny words or show him ugly plushies that I like! He's so much fun to be wif!

Tfp Optimus Prime

It took me a minute to understand him, given he doesn't show emotions, but I think we have a good understanding now. He always appreciates my drawings, and he makes sure I'm okay. He shows affection in his own way, and that's okay.

Gajeel

Another big fun guy! He's like a fun uncle to me! We like sharing our music tastes, and he lets me be adventurous! He also lets me be sassy to rude meany people. And he protects me from scary people. Ofc he does make sure I'm okay and that I'm taken care of. He is always there for me when I feel overstimulated. And doesn't mind watching little kid shows wif me.

Chuuya

Chuuya is nice because he lets me vent to him. He lets me play with his hair and put cute clips in his hair. And he wears the bracelets I make him. He loves Bluey just like me! We color together all the time, and he makes sure my bottle is filled. He buys my cute clothes and snacks! He very nice ❤️

Okay, I know this one is a bit sus, and I'm not sure how to justify this one Imma be honest. But he's pretty SFW around me (probably because I'm weak and he's into power). I like going shopping wif him! He pays for my crippling stuffie addiction lol. He thinks my gremlin behavior is funny, and he lets me bite his arm. He just laughs. Ofc I don't bite too hard. He also play pretend wif me! My fav game to play wif him is Cats Vs. Dogs! And we have teaparties and bake togefer! He's lotsa fun!

Basically, me bodyguard. He refuses to let me out of his sight. Doesn't mean I won't try heehee. He's definitely a bit more awkward with my regression, but that's okay. I think it's funny. Ok . Shadowgear headcanons (+gajeel and Lily probably because they all are besties to me)

My hc on their backstory (spoiler I am projecting my thai-ness on them they are thai (as if I have not said that enough)

Set in the sweltering fiore adjacent thailand country :

Jet’s family being pretty nonchalant,, didnt care what he did when he got home or anything (not necessarily in the neglecting way,, just like he always comes back every night and they trust him way) He loved running with the dogs as a kid and where he got his love of running from. Droy, was a farmer kid (obv) his parents were just a little magic gifted , father with plant manipulation and mother with a small affinity to plant growth. He has basically a farmers tan all of the time (when he started helping in the fields) , naturally was a chubby kid and just grew a lot —> why it’s less noticeably during “canon”. Jet (10)and Droy (11) met when jet raced past Droy’s test crops, ruining them and seeing him tearing up jet immediately apoligized and offered to help replant them. The start of a weird friendship,, sometimes droy would join jet with runs/walks (usually asking for him to slow down and talk about his day instead of trying to keep up with him) they meet levy(10) when they walk into the nearby town and see a little girl sitting at the counter of a restaurant and reading. Being young and wanting to make more friends they go up to her and pester her and she’s very shy. Her kunyai (grandma + honorific in thai) who basically adopted Levy when her parents died in a guild raid of a nearby province when she was v young scolded the two (they’re regulars at the restaurant, there to run errands for her or yk eat lol),, but they were intrigued and didn’t let up their efforts to try and talk to her whenever they saw her. One day they acted like they were fight over her (kunyai initiated it probably) and she snorted out laughing calling them idiots. Thus the start of them fighting over her AS A JOKE (because I hate how they were reduced to that and the bit . Guys I swear it’s a bit),, kunyai was very encouraging about their friendship bc she was anxious that Levy wouldn’t get out of her shell. So they frequently hung out at the restaurant, Droy’s farm, or even Jet’s house.

Droy is actually the leader of the group because Jet and Levy would constantly get into competitions and are just feral. Droy is resident mediator (Thank fucking goodness) ,,,,, Levy is actually mvp but that doesn’t mean that they put her on such a high pedestal (AHEM. LOOKING AT YOU POST GAJEEL CANON)

Jet is the main attacker (?) because of well. His magic ofc.. me and my friend were mulling over potential second origin stuffs and were like AYO what if he can warp/teleport,, fully just disappear and appear stuff… hilarity ensues when he does it for the first time and he doesn’t know how or Why he wants to throw up so bad and oh my god he’s naked —> Droy and Levy running after him with his clothes

Has warped over a cliff edge and warped back accidentally and was like :’D while Levy and Droy just stood there not knowing how to react

Droy is heavy hitting and defense ofcofc (I am talking to myself) with his seed plant thingies he has like impeccable aim

His second origin thingy is that he has a more biologically based connection (?) ex. growing plants from any source ,, tapping into the nature in his surroundings in a way

He does sprout various wildlife on his body now which is cute (his fishtail is now a full ass plant ahoge now I’m not sorry)

Jet has goggles that he has on him at all times in case of extra long running so no bugs get in his eyes

Tans HORRIBLY. Like cannot tan more at all…… he will turn red red and blister horribly

Has 10 sunscreens on him at all time

Had a buzzcut as a kid and it came back during timeskip (it’s a look I swear) and he lets Asuka use little hair dye markers to draw cute flowers and other stuff on his head

Levy was kind of bummed that she wasn’t there to watch him cut it but why care about that when SHES REUNITED WITH HER BOYSSSS (I’m in tears)

HATES needles,, he has only his ears pierced when SG decided to do that when they turned like 10 or something,, BUT . does agree to repierce the matching lip ring (the piercing shop they did it at got infected and closed up,, jet had the most horrific one ,, probably how he got his fear)

This ensues : gajeel finds out and he mentions that he can do it if they want and then by the time it’s jets turn he get really scared bc of his phobia and something something gajeel says some stuff and gives jet some good advice and let’s him talk and then he’s on a tangent and notices gajeel just sitting there. He grins and is like I did it already and jet was like !!! Didn’t even feel it!! And OOUAHWHGAGS JETJEEL FRIENDSHIP START

I haven't seen Fairy Tail in a long time. But I just couldn't stop thinking about this headcannon that just popped into my head like two minutes ago. What if dragonslayers had an instinct to hoard shiny things. Like it's so bad that the dragonslayers as a whole are aware of it. Like if two of them spot the same shiny, it's basically look at one another, set challenge, claim the shiny first.

Gajeel: GIMMIE THE SHINY!

Natsu: NO WAY! YOU GOT THE LAST SHINY. THIS ONES MINE! *proceeds to shove the shiny in his mouth*

Meanwhile, everyone in Fairy Tail guild is used to it since they have 4 dragonslayers in the guild and anyone not familiar with their hoarding are looking in horror as Gajeel is trying to pry the shiny out of Natsu's mouth.

Edit: Something else that popped up into my head is that Wendy is often given shiny things by the guild because they just want to make her happy. Treat her like the sunshine she is. What they don't know is that she is one of the most passive-aggressive hoarders out there. Like one of the other dragonslayers gets to a shiny she had her eye on first.

Wendy: Oh no, it's fine! You can have it.

Is what she says, but her arua is just radiating with the intent that she would step over their corpse to get the shiny. (As she's still Wendy, she would take time to give them proper rest after getting her shiny.)

Dragonslayer: Well yeah I can have it I grabbed it first.

Wendy: *smiles with malicious intent while she puts a hand on their shoulder* Just remember who your healer is.

She then leaves them to panic because they just pissed off the healer. OH GOD, THEY JUST PSSED OFF THE HEALER. Wendy's revenge is leaving them to panic on whether or not they just planned their funeral early. (Ofc Wendy will help them if their gravely injured. But don't think for a second that means she's forgiven them.)

Edit edit: Guy's what if: Around Gajeel joining the fairy Tail guild, people of the guild thought that Natsu's obsession with shiny things was just that. A Natsu thing. It was, in fact, not just a Natsu thing. As they would come to learn that Gajeel would pick fights with Natsu over shiny things. Erza, being the self-appointed peacemaker, thought by throwing the shiny into the horizon would make the fighting stop. She could not have been more wrong. She flinched back when BOTH dragonslayers snapped their heads at her( they were watching the shiny vanish into the horizon.) Gajeel she had been expecting, and even prepared for, ready to put him in place if need be. It's when Natsu glared at her that she wasn't prepared for.

Natsu: Hold her down.

They both make a break for it, grabbing her and forcing her down.

To Erza's displeasure, Natsu starts tickling her. In front of the guild.

Gajeel: Tickle her until she cries.

Natsu: Noted.

He only stops after she passes out. She, of course, gets her revenge, but has learned her lesson. That event had been labeled "The scarlet incident."

Post note: ngl completely forgot about Laxus. He's just really picky with his shiny obsession. Also, not to mention he'd rather die than let people catch him obsessing over a shiny, like those two idiots down there.

It's only when Wendy joins the guild that they learn it's a dragonslayer thing. Thus blowing Laxus' cover anyway.

Post note edit: also maybe being a second generation dragonslayer has something to do with him being better at controlling his urge to collect shiny things. Maybe sting would be absolutely feral when it comes to shiny(s) while rouge is more laid back. Or maybe it's a switch. Some days, third generation dragonslayers are downright feral to collect shiny(s), and other days, they can cull the urge to collect shiny(s).

Scar anon again I'm so sorry for sending consecutive asks but mashima really made the coolest dude + team ever (laxus n the raijinshuu in case it wasn't obvious) and then refused to elaborate like???good sir I would have paid for a full series of Them?? The raijinshuu are so criminally underutilised like I want to know their backstories!! I want to know how they came to join fairy tail!!! Everything after Tartarus is my villain origin story lol, not even joking. It's so messy.

Im not singing praises for everything before it ofc there was some jank from beginning to gmg but after tartarus' end the story and characterization really seemed to start coming apart at the seams and it really tanked everything even though at that stage mashima's art was 10/10. Which is a shame bcus tartarus really was a step in the right direction tonally but it just stopped right there. Copped a massive W then tossed it out for consecutive L's.

But yea man! Laxus and his squad! Laxus will forever be a sorta sore spot for me because of the dropped Dreyar family plot thread. The whole dealio with Ivan, Makarov sending Gajeel to spy on him, Laxus' lone adventures. It really could've culminated in either a small side arc or a B-plot of an already existing arc

(I personally would add it into Tenrou. Take Gajeel off tenrou to have him doin his spy gig, accidentally meet up with Laxus during that, plot details regarding the dreyar family happen all while the events of tenrou go down. The duo gets wind of Grimoire Heart heading to tenrou from Raven Tail due to all dark guilds sharing info. The duo head over to tenrou post haste and allowing gajeel to carry out the iconic gajevy moment where he saves her and justifying why Laxus ended up on Tenrou instead of just randomly showing up at the nick of time. But alas, details lol)

Thunder Legion's always been interesting to me though. I'll admit i dont think about them often but they are a pretty unique squad with varying personalities across the board that, on paper, you probs wouldn't expect em to be friends, let alone friends that close and loyal to one another.

Their magics are also a main point of interest because it really is so out there. Freed in essence has an upgraded solid script (plus those unused transformations the beast lookin one from fantasia and the more streamlined one from tenrou), Evergreen has the petrification magic (alongside her main magic with the energy attacks) and Bickslow? Soul manipulation? That can't be legal man. The magic system in FT is really underexplained and has a anything goes sorta deal (hello summoning gods) but man, i would've loved something there for these 3- power limits or drawbacks, how it works, whether its magic they naturally manifested or learned or both. Something along those lines.

And while i don't think a backstory would've been necessary for them per se, because at the end of the day they still are side characters so relevancy of the information learned throughout the story dictates how much is really needed to be known and this extends to learning about how they joined the guild as well (i personally think they all joined as adults tbh. I know a lotta peeps like to think of em as a teen friendship squad but i really prefer it they were an adult friend group. Having a friendship that strong forming in their 20s feels right to me), but i think even a one line or 2 regarding their pasts could come up in conversation for that information to come up naturally.

Like for eg. Freed gives off rich kid energy, so perhaps he's a runaway rich kid like herself but not from Fiore, that could be revealed in a convo with Lucy at some point to strike common ground between the two. Evergreen feels like an orphaned soul turned away (i personally think she gives off Jessie from pokemon vibes) by others a lot so why not a kinship with her and Juvia or even Mirajane? Bickslow the wild card could spout jokes about his acrobatic skills he learned from being a street performer, just something. They're not perfect concepts no, but they're little ways the characters could've been given even a scrap of info to help learn more about em.

Also uhhhh, it always threw me off that they weren't all S-class wizards so i think it would've been cooler if they were a whole squad of s class wizards who attempted a guild coup instead of just 1 s class and his homies. Aight byeeeeee.

bc of jet going off about the muppets one day (he has muppet rants okay convince me otherwise) due to droy calling them a thing for kids for the millionth time (theyre besties so ofc they're gonna tease eachother about some shit they like), gajeel then told juvia latwr about it (they're siblings ur honour) and now juvia knows too much muppet lore bc of that and she's now a fan. anytime the muppets are brought up shes like "muppets 👀👀?" and to shut her up about it gaj asks if she can come to the bimonthly team shadowgear movie nights (gaj is an honourary member of tsg along with lily 😤😤) and shes ends up joining a movie night that finally jet is able have it b his pick and juvias like "this is the muppets??" and have been converted to being a muppet fan and because of that, juvia and jet become sorta friend over both being muppet fans (and thats like literally all they talk about)

Hi ❤ thanks for reading! Always happy to hear people are enjoying my fic. Fireflies is a story I hold very close to my heart. I keep most of my FT headcanon nonsense here in a FT sideblog - though, that's for the whole fandom fully.

For Fireflies specifically, I really like to have fun with the side characters and their backstories. I always put Levy, Laki, Max, Eve, and whoever else I can grab into 'Council School'. I just love the idea of a magic council-sponsored educational facility that people can quit or graduate after only a few years, like college rather than our modern, traditional schooling system. since Max did say he 'went and studied business' in the manga. I keep building up the schooling system through my stories and at this point I can't stop. I don't think I've written it anywhere yet, but Mest also attended, but they all forgot about it because of his magic.

It's really fun to draw connections between characters that have similarities in canon but aren't really shown to interact much - eg, Bickslow, Chico, Nab, all having some form of magic that involves souls, spirits, and possession.

I also love Shadow Gear as an actual functional team rather than just a cutie and her cheerleaders - is Levy the brains and Jet/Droy the brawns? No actually, Levy's canonically stronger than them. She's the brains and brawns. They're the rationale and common sense Levy dropped on her way.

Oh and the Dragon Slayers! I did a mgic analysis of all the dragon slayers before on aforementioned sideblog, but my strong personal headcanon is that they all fight slightly differently. They canonically have differences, but they're hard to tell through anime adaptation. To be brief, Gajeel tends to fight with his body made into weapons, Natsu fights like a feral beast - Laxus fights like an experienced sage - either with quick/calm teleportations, he charges up with long incantations for a huge oneshot-kill, kinda like how a mage would fight in an RPG lineup where you have guards and fighters to buy time for you to chant your spells. Cobra fights like a stray predator animal. And Wendy, other than support magic, imitates most of her early moves from Gajeel and Natsu before Porlyusica gives her the secret arts. These differences are all so fascinating.

Juvia Lockser In My Headcanons

In my au, Gruvia, is not, and will never be canon, but they will be friends, not bestfriends.

Juvia does continue to speak in third person, but the whole "Stalker, who respects no boundaries," just goes away.

Juvia is Aro/Ace, like water. Juvia has never really craved romance she just needed love, not romantic but platonic it only really came to her about that when she joined the guild.

You know, Juvia being neglected and alone since childhood and then she sees romantic love in action, it in her point of view is being loved but when it came to that she never had any actual romantic attraction towards her exes, she just felt "loved" but they'd all leave her because of her rain, she only liked looks, the men she's been with were decent looking except Bora, I have no idea how they even met.

Joining Phantom Lord felt no different, she was in a guild but the only people who she really talked to were Sol, or whatever that weird looking man was and 𝐆𝐚𝐣𝐞𝐞𝐥, other than that she kept to herself.

Then in Fairy Tail, she was content with everyone, they still viewed her as a enemy y'know because of her FORMER affiliation with Phantom Lord but she really proves that she'd do anything for the guild, and so y'know Cana spreads the word, people get a bit more comfortable with Juvia and she is happy with that.

Gray was someone that saved her life, and she was thankful because his kindness felt so rare to her, foreign, unlike everyone else who neglected her and would let her drop, he saved her, so she views him as a great person someone she can look up to, Juvia take my advice, don't, you'd be calling out Iced Shell almost every time a week.

Juvia is like the mother of the guild, not really but sort of, she has the motherly energy, the guys keep her away from Loke not because they fear he'd tried to flirt with Juvia, no that's actually why, Juvia is someone who needs to be protected.

I'm not really a fan of Mashima's Juvia and how he views romance, I don't stand for it in any shape or form, and the way he fucks up her character is just bad.

Juvia is apart of Team Shadow Gear

Levy, Jet, Gajeel and Droy are her partners and they get along, she and Droy have nature connected powers and so they like to interact, ofc she and Gajeel are close but she teases him about his crush on Levy, which he'll deny but stop later on, Levy and Juvia talk, a lot, like Juvia and Levy would be in the background questioning Lucy about her and Natsu while Lucy is blushing but telling how she feels about him. Juvia will team up with Lucy or Wendy, sometimes Erza and Gray but with Natsu that is rare, their styles and powers are different, but they work with it but it just doesn't work all the time.

Juvia: I catch them, you hit them.

Natsu: Alright.

Juvia does not get weaker, her love for her guild and previous power make her stronger, and she has a good amount of methods to deal with her enemies, water lock them, use her water body to confused weak minded men, and use water sources to her advantage, she's strong against fire users, not Natsu all that much, but fire users.

Juvia speaks in french when she gets angry.

You know Sol, weird eye glass man? Yeah they still talk. Sol is out and about, traveling and what not, but he teaches her a bit of french and it stays in her memories.

She calls people imbeciles instead of anything else, refuses to, unless she uses some other fancy word.

-Acnologia is very much alive, when the final battle happened, all Natsu did was take his magic out of him and destroy it. Thus rendering him to being a magic less human. And so, he travels around now as a cranky ass doctor who’s got a stick up his ass permanently.

-Irene lives in a secluded home in the middle of the woods. She has a nice ass garden and prefers to be left alone to her own devices. Erza has visited, but the interactions are awkward.

-Ivan Dreyar, dead. Killed without hesitation. He comes back after the GMG in an attempt to start stealing magic off of Fairy Tail members. He fails, and ends up being killed

-Mest Gryder? Also dead. Again, killed without hesitation by August for being a dumbass. (This is a Mest hate account. I will not accept anything that isn’t slander on this man here)

-Brandish is a part of Fairy Tail, except that she doesn’t like hanging out in the Guild Hall

-Cana lives in Fairy Hills (its a miracle she hasn’t been evicted)

-the dragon slayers have hoards

-They can also turn into fully fledged dragons

-They have some form of Twitter (the guilds are all verified, and Blue Pegasus likes to talk shit)

-Warren becomes their world’s Bill Gates because he invented the cell phone. This causes Makarov to extort him for money all the time

-Gajeel’s hair is either silky smooth or a whole rat’s nest full of tangles, no inbetween

-You know the little montage of scrapbook scenes in the 10th ending? This is a project done at the guild one day after the war (Please let me elaborate on this at some point)

-Makarov, Macao, Wakaba, and Gildarts (when he was in town) all helped raise the children that joined Fairy Tail at a young age. They clearly failed, and thus turned them into society’s problem.

-Porlyusica, helped occasionally. She wasn’t too present, cuz she doesn’t like anyone ofc.

-Serena’s stupid ponytails are gone. (No, I will not accept any criticisim)

-I’m not entirely sure if this is canon or not. Part of me thinks I saw it in a fic once, the other thinks it is. But the location of Gray’s house is unknown.

-There is a Fairy Hills like building for the dudes, this is where Gajeel lives and how he managed to get close to Jet and Droy who also live here. 

-Freed and Bickslow live here too. 

-Laxus does not, because he refuses to share an apartment building with his guildmates. Also, his biggest fear is Natsu ever stepping foot in there. Therefore, his apartment is on the other side of town, away from the Guild. Freed, Evergreen, Bickslow, and Makarov are the only ones who know of its location.

-I think the idea of Wall Eehto staying alive is really funny. Mainly because, he’s an off brand Gajeel. But also, consider him having to work as a customer service employee for Warren later on. He works for the equivalent of Apple and is dealing with customer service. -SPEAKING OF CUSTOMER SERVICE. The Magic Council’s complaint department is 98% complaints about Fairy Tail. The poor workers are constantly dealing with problems people have with that guild. (which is completely understandable tbh)

-Meaning, the Magic Council definitely has an entire department just to handle Fairy Tail and their misdemeanors.

-The only reason the guild hasn’t been forcibly shut down is because it hold’s Fiore’s strongest mages who are all about family and sticking together. They beat Zeref and the Spriggan 12 along with Acnologia. Would you really want to be the person to have to tell them that they legally cannot all be under the same roof at any time? Didn’t think so.

YOU READ MY MIND!!!! I felt bad about posting a bunch of stuff regarding negativity today and so I was gonna do some nalu writing anyway to bring back the positive vibes and now you’ve just given me the perfect drabble idea!!! 

So here’s something short, a little angsty, and very sweet to get us all in a good mood again!

“Whoa...that was some explosion.” Gray mutters. 

“And it was powerful enough to defeat Aldoron. I wonder what had the power to-” Erza starts until a cry from Lucy cuts her off. 

“NATSU!” Lucy shouts and starts running as fast as she can, which was difficult with her injuries, towards the explosion site. 

The rest of the guild members gasp as they realize that Natsu was the cause of the explosion and that they needed to make sure he was okay. So they slowly limp after Lucy in her search for the dragon slayer. 

Each step she took was painful, but what was even more painful to her was the pain she felt in her heart at the fear that Natsu had finally gone too far this time and did something stupid and turn into a monster that threatened to burn the world down like what happened last time. Or worse-No. She couldn’t think like that. She had to stay positive. 

So she limps over through the smoke, wishing she had a good sense of smell like he did so she could find him, or what could be left of him. No she didn’t want to think like that. Natsu was fine. He had to be fine. The universe wouldn’t be so cruel to her as to take him away before she could tell him she loves-

“Hey I can smell him!” Gajeel shouts. 

Lucy breaks from her thoughts and turns to Gajeel who had his nose up in the air and was sniffing around. 

“He’s over there!” Gajeel shouts and points in the direction of some rocks.

“Natsu!” Happy shouts and flies in that direction. 

“Natsu...please be okay...please still be Natsu...” Lucy breathes as she quickly heads in his direction. 

Natsu lays on the ground motionless. That last attack took a lot out of him, and he could feel himself slipping into unconsciousness. That is, until a voice pulled him back from the void. 

“Natsu!” He heard a familiar voice shout. 

He groans and blinks his eyes a few times, wincing from the light before sniffing the air to try to figure out who it is. As soon as he recognizes the scent, his eyes widen and he sits himself up, groaning as he pushes the rocks off of him. But then once he sees Lucy smiling at him, he can’t feel any pain at all and grins from ear to ear as she collapses on her knees in front of him on the ground. 

“Looks like you had a pretty tough fight.” Natsu says noticing her injuries. 

“You look worse than me!” Lucy replies playfully. 

“Well I did just blow up a dragon. And after seeing what he and his seeds did to you, he totally deserved it.” Natsu says. 

Lucy smiles again, but then her bottom lip wobbles and tears start to form in the corners of her eyes. She leans forward onto Natsu’s chest and he lets her. 

As soon as Lucy presses her hand against his warm skin she buries her face into his scarf and breaks down into tears. 

If anyone else had dared to get their tears, or sweat or whatever on his treasured scarf, Natsu would have beat them senseless no matter what state he was in. But Lucy, was the only exception. Honestly at this point she was more precious to him than the scarf anyway. And right now, she needed to cry, so he would let her lean on him and cry on whatever article of clothing she wanted. It’s not like he ever worried about stains or cleanliness anyway. 

Everyone else from the guild came around behind them. They all wanted to have a moment with their guild mate as well, but all of them knew that Lucy needed to be with him first. 

“Na-” Happy starts and tries to fly towards him before Erza stops him. 

“Not yet Happy. Let them have their moment.” Erza says before smiling at her two close friends embracing each other. 

Natsu gently runs his hand through the soft strands of blonde hair in Lucy’s ponytail and smiled. 

“Hey, what’re you crying about? We won the battle didn’t we?” Natsu asks her. 

“We did but...” Lucy sniffs and hiccups. “Natsu that blast was...it was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. It was so strong and explosive that I knew it had to be you and-” 

“Wow you really know me so well!” Natsu says cheerfully. 

“Let me finish!” Lucy pouts and gently smacks him in the chest. “It was such a big attack and it took down the whole dragon...I was so worried that you might have...” She can’t even finish her sentence before crying again.

Natsu frowns as he remembers what happened when they fought Mercuphobia. That’s why she got so worried...

“Hey.” Natsu says softly.

Lucy feels her heart beating as Natsu gently lifts her chin with his fingers and tilts her head up to look into his eyes. 

He could hear how loudly her heart was beating thanks to his dragonslayer hearing. And he was thankful all of the dirt and bruises were hiding the blush that was blooming on his face as a result of the noise. 

“What did I tell you before we started this quest?” Natsu asks her. 

Lucy lets out a short sob before answering him. 

“That we would always be together?” She says. 

“That’s right. Lucy I know that you believe in me, and you’re one of the most important people in my life.” Natsu says and Lucy gasps and can’t help but smile. 

Her tears of sadness were quickly being replaced by tears of joy. 

“That trust and loyalty between us means a lot to me. I know I have a tendency to go to extremes when I’m fighting, and it may look like I’m breaking my limit or going to far. And I can’t promise that I’ll back down on that so I don’t worry you so much. I don’t like hearing that you were worried about me, but there’s gonna be times when I don’t have a choice but to push my limits a bit and take a risk. But know that there is no way that I would ever go so far that I’d jeopardize that promise I made to you or become someone I’m not. And I’ll always come back to you after every battle. I swear.” Natsu says and gently presses his forehead against Lucy’s. “Just like you always come back for me.” 

Lucy had half a mind to kiss him right then and there, but she was too overwhelmed with emotions right now to make a proper decision, especially since his warm hand on her bare back was making her brain go haywire even more than it already was.

“Okay.” Lucy says softly and smiles. “I believe in you.”

Juvia could barely contain herself. “Oh it’s so romantic!” she mumbles into her hands. “Why won’t they just kiss already!” 

“Natsu!” Happy wails.

He flies towards Natsu and hugs his right arm while tears flood down his face. 

“Ouch Happy! That stings!” Natsu wails and Lucy lets out a short laugh that makes Natsu smile. 

His family, Lucy and Happy, were happy and safe with him, so he could relax and let himself get treated for injuries with the rest of his guild mates. 

Lucy could relax too, because she was with Happy and Natsu, and he was still her Natsu. And because she believed in him, deep in her heart she knew that he would never become a monster as long as they were together.

“jeez, calm down, would ya natsu?” gray sighed, watching the pink-haired boy get all fired up over — well, nothing.

“it’s not fair! how come lucy and erza got to take that quest and not me?! they literally refused to let me come!” the fire dragon slayer roared, happy rolling his eyes as natsu punched a table, causing it to collapse into a pile of wood.

“if you don’t simmer down the whole guild hall will get destroyed again! gramps wouldn’t like that very much,” gajeel stated, rubbing his temples. he knew natsu had quite the temper, and it wasn’t very difficult to rile him up. but he was going overboard this time, and since him and gray were the only ones there, he figured it was time to take responsibility and calm the fire freak down.

it all happened so fast too, with the iron dragon slayer suddenly tackling natsu to the ground; gray quickly following suit as they both grabbed his arms and legs. natsu was a squirmer, thats for sure.

“HEY! let go of me right now! i wasn’t finished!” he cried, flailing around to no avail. gray huffed and set his cold hands on natsu’s torso, eliciting a tiny squeak from the pink-haired wizard.

“damn it gray, your hahahahands are cold man!” natsu shrieked, eyes widening as gajeel smirked and gray raised an eyebrow. it suddenly become very apparent how they would be able to get this flame to simmer down. and let’s just say they were both very pleased when natsu actually started giggling when gray wiggled his frigid fingers under his toned arms.

“no fahahahahahair guys! gehehehehet off of mehehe- gahahahahahahajeel!” natsu cried out, starting to wiggle around while his fellow dragon slayer started skittering his fingertips over his now bared soles. to be honest, both of the ticklers were actually kinda softened after seeing natsu like this. just carefree, happy laughter pouring out of the poor boy’s lips as they constantly found new weak spots. it was a nice change.

“alright alright, don’t want you passing out on us now,” gray chuckled, letting up as gajeel eventually did the same. natsu was all tuckered out now, his hair messy and his body sweating as he quickly started catching his breath. his happiness was evident though, if his large smile didn’t give him straight away.

“t-thanks guys, didn’t know i needed that until now,” he said joyfully, quickly springing up from the floor. in fact, he was heading straight for lucy’s apartment! he wanted revenge anyway for her refusal on letting him come along. yeah, this would be fun~

the boys just shook their heads and laughed as natsu ran out the door.

Baby Steps

Pairing: Gruvia ofc Inspired by FT 100 Years Quest Chapter 58. Sorry I took so long! But here’s one for the books. :) I used the “I’m glad you’re safe” part because a lot of people did the ballroom reference. I might do that one day but not now haha. Also about the places I’m not really accurate okay. I didn’t go check where everyone was exactly so please don’t attack me on it. Here you guys go anyway. Enjoy hopefully? Also this became too long I’m sry ––––––––––– “Damn, this town is confusing.”   Gray and Juvia sat down on a bench nearby, panting heavily. Before this were running across the streets looking left and right for any signs of their own guild members. They were surprised that they cannot find any in sight as they were just together not too long ago. It did not help that they were just fighting earlier on as well. Juvia was thirsty, and she wondered if Gray – well, was thirsty too after all that and wanted to suggest he ought to drink some water. Her water, to be exact.   She blushed at the thought of it. She did not mean anything else but it did seem a little awkward and she worried that it would ruin the mood they have been having. She shook her head. No, she thought. Gray-sama wouldn’t get turn off just because of this right? Things are different now between him and Juvia – maybe, but still…. She took a glance at him and sees that he Is still trying to catch his breath when Juvia already managed to compose herself. Without further ado she reached out for his shoulder to inquire when a voice was heard in both of their minds.   “Gray, Juvia, are you guys alright? where are the both of you?” This voice..   “Warren! Is that you?” Gray spoke up in surprise.   “Glad to hear you guys are alright. We are over at the west side of this town, where Natsu is. We went to find him.”   “That explains why you guys were not near us! We’ll head over there now. Thanks man.”   “See you guys.”   With that Warren shut down his telepathic powers and Gray got up almost immediately, Juvia following suit. He did not seem to be panting anymore, but excited to go back to where everyone else were. The duo continued to walk their way towards the west side, the distance way further than they expected. However, they eventually reached and sure enough saw them all, gathered around a battered, but very cheerful pink dragon slayer.  They were observing the scene — where Lucy was on the brink of crying as Natsu consoled her with a pat on the head. Juvia’s heart went giddy at the sight of it as she recalled how Gray also did something similar to that. She smiled to herself as she touched her own cossack hat, not daring to look at Gray to wonder if he felt the same. “’Yer look like a freak, smiling to yourself like that.” She felt a huge weight on top of her head as her body sunk down a little in surprise, and looked at the person who caused it with fondly discontentment. “Gajeel-kun.” “Yo.” Gajeel smirked. “Guess you two got ‘em good, huh?” “Gajeel! I was wondering where you wen- Oh, Gray and Juvia are back too!” Levy came and proceeded to hug Juvia with care, not hurting her belly. “I’m so glad the two of you are safe!” “Juvia’s glad too that everything worked out fine in the end.” “How did you guys defeat him? Was it with the power of love?” Levy grew a suspicious smile as Juvia blushed and mumbled incoherently at that bold statement, unsure of what to say. She wanted to say that it was, but Gray was rather vague and did not mention the word “love”. Even though she was rather confident it was, but she did not immediately dare to say so.  Before she could think of saying anything, Gray cleared his throat and it caught the rest of their attention. His head was hung low, daring himself to glance at Juvia with a look that she could not comprehend as he quickly looked away. “I’m gonna go rest for abit.” With that he took his leave, leaving all of them and Juvia, confused. He looked as if he wanted to tell her something but did not. What did his look meant? “Guess Ice Boy has some ants in his pants.” Levy lightly smacked him and reprimanded him for his rude statement, as Juvia walked away. She was curious yet concerned as to what he wanted to tell her. However, the bluenette decided to shake it off as went to rest. The guild was planning to host a celebration tonight before leaving the next day.  With nothing much packed, she wore her usual outfit and was relieved to see everyone doing the same. She was worried that it was going to be something grand and did not want to look plain — however this was her guild, she should have known it was going to be casual with lots of brawling involved. She caught sight of her beloved as he was having his usual brawl with Natsu before the reequip mage came and put it to an end, rendering them defeated and begging for her mercy. She giggled at the sight of it and went to take a drink herself as she sat with Cana, Lucy and Levy for the night. They were talking about the mother-to-be as the bookworm was expecting in a few months time. Juvia smiled as they converse, though she could not help but feel a little envious whenever she heard about her iron dragon slayer friend ironing out his life well with a partner and eventually, becoming a father himself.  She glanced at Gray from afar and wondered if they would reach that point of becoming lovers. Recently, things have been different for them despite him leaving her for the quest temporarily. She never knew the reason why, but today got her mind in circles. She’s my power to live. I’m glad you’re safe. .... I’m gonna go rest for abit. Juvia shook it off and knew that if Gray did not want to talk about it, she could never force him. Though she silently wished in her heart that he would tell her more. Eventually, the night passed but instead of staying back to drink with the rest, she decided that it was time to go as she would be leaving early the next day. She began to walk back in peaceful silence with her head titled downwards, deep in thoughts about her beloved ice mage. Juvia sighed as she wondered how she would to face him tomorrow. If possible, the bluenette did not want to leave before getting the clarification she so desired. “I didn’t think you’d be excusing yourself this soon.” Juvia turned in surprise to see none other than Gray Fullbuster – the man who has been in her thoughts – in flesh himself. “Juvia didn’t think it’d be wise to get wasted again before leaving tomorrow, what about you Gray-sama?” She quickly smiled as his eyes rolled in immediate response to her question.

“Me? No way in hell I’m gonna go through the Christmas drama again.” She giggled at how typical his response was, while Gray soften his gaze on her as she did so. He slightly blushed, knowing that what he mentioned was only half true. “Well...” The ice mage scratches the back of his neck, feeling a little nervous. “I also–um, saw you going out.” “Eh–? Gray-sama saw Juvia?” He saw her the moment she was feeling flustered earlier on. He heard her faint laughter from afar as he brawled with Natsu. He saw her as she went to sit with the girls.  He saw her leaving the place with a saddened look on her face, which hurt him so badly. His eyes became half lidded as he pulled her right wrist gently with his left hand, hearing a small gasp leave her lips. Little did she know – he too had been wondering how to talk to her before she goes back. He too, wanted her to know more about his feelings, but it was a challenge for a person like him. I was looking at you the whole time, Gray thought to himself, but struggled to get the words out of his mouth. Too many years has it been building up his own wall of ice, that it became difficult for him to tear it back down. “Baby steps.” He managed. “Let’s take baby steps together.” He looked up instantly when her body became feeble from his grasp to find Juvia in her lovestruck state. “G-G-Gray-sama wants to have a baby with Juvia!?” “I-I didn’t mean THAT!” Gray quickly defended as he tried to shake it off her with his hands on her shoulders, beet red as a tomato. “ Calm down Juvia! I want us to work out but I can’t go all the way yet!” Juvia eventually compose herself and Gray slapped his forehead, sighing as he wondered why did he not think through his words more. He wanted to crawl into a hole and die somewhere, but knew there was no turning back on the things he said. “What I mean is–um–I know I promised you an answer. I-I want the same.” Juvia’s heart melted at the sincerity of his voice as he went on. “I know it would take a long time being the fool I am, but I want us to take small steps to our relationship. I’m really bad at my words, Juvia. I’m really bad at public affections but–um–” He nervously took her hand in his and gulped loudly, a faint blush tinting his cheeks. “This is okay for a start?” He averted his gaze. It was too much for him to bear after his grand speech. She too flushed at his actions, but managed to smile softly and squeezed his hand in response. “Yes, Gray-sama.” They began to walk together hand in hand back, feeling each others’ warmth. She looked at Gray’s back as he was ahead of her slightly and could tell how red he was by the ears. Her heart squeezed, knowing he was trying hard for her sake and she appreciated it. The water mage smiled to herself as could not believe how a simple journey back to her room became unexpectedly pleasant.  “When I get back, maybe we should have a d-date or something.”  And it could not get any better than this.
