aight im just here for a quick (had to come back to the top after i finished writing to say i say quick and then promptly write every single thought my mind is spawning) one because now my brain is functional instead of sleepy so i could read your response proper
i sure hope this read more works bc i only just realised i can apparently indeed insert these on asks and- yeah. i try to spare others' dashes when i can,,
(this was supposed to be short i swear, but your response also got my floodgates wide open 💦)
before the main rambly section i have to just say random or more specific teams good 👍 I've always been more on the casual side for teams, and still am, even if I do try to strategise a bit more seriously nowadays (i have no idea how "serious" that actually is, though. probably not very). very much a "win with the ones you love, not who people say are the strongest" person here, which naturally doesn't usually fit best in a competitive setting unless you learn how to do it really well, and I doubt I'm quite at that level, but hey, I try a little at least. in fact, I rather doubt I'd have even gotten to this point of slightly competitive if it weren't for my stubborn streak and *cough* my sibling learning a little bit. that's really what started it. suddenly losing every fight had me itching to catch up so that at least it was relatively even. that, and what I learned from that was actually really useful for a really specific game (battle revolution on the wii- the hardest battles on that are so much suffering without a strong team with strategy- well, i had the other game version so i didn't personally experience it, but i witnessed my sibling suffering against a water spout choice scarf kyogre that annihilated things terrifyingly well. my game's version of that fight was mildly kinder, but still rather tough), so, uh, yeah. somehow i ended up at the point of semi-serious but hopefully still mostly fun. ...I remember asking for help testing a semi-serious semi-fun team for an oc once and my sibling was facing my porygon-z with a jolteon. i'd given the porygon-z an iron ball and trick. it was glorious. moments when porygon-z can outspeed a jolteon (the reaction was wonderful :'D). so yeah, I love fun teams with a hint of seriousness :D anyway-
why do i feel like i am about to speed read pokespe all the way from the start again lmeo (i'll have to check the oras chapter since you've got me curious now, thank you :] ) also childe an unholy mix of red and gold holy shi- that sent me- apparently that got a tiny noise out of me bc someone asked if something was funny. okay. moving on,
didn't really expect an explanation of why it's the specific number of 5 for each of them, but that's so specific and so valid. i can totally see that, that makes a lot of sense to me?? i never really thought about it but 5 does feel like a more balanced number...
i also totally missed the note about nidoqueen maybe for childe?? i saw the others, just. not nidoqueen. but you're right, nidoqueen would fit. so now in my mind there's a war of who would be most fitting for that last team slot, because they all would fit,, pawmot is both adorable and looks like it could be a bit of a cute menace in battle (and i think that its secondary typing is fighting also fits, because, y'know, fighting-), luxray- i am biased towards luxray i can't quite explain it. luxray is cool and also in terms of delusion, well- the black fits. obviously more than that, too- i just can't quit think of how to put that in words though. gengar would definitely be cool to represent the abyss a lil, also because my word are those things speedy and they can be annoying in a fight. and, yeah, nidoqueen would fit too. it'd be cool both from the perspective of maybe abyss representation on his team and also you know? sometimes there would be like one pokemon on a seemingly type-specific team that just stands out? it'd be like that. i can't quite explain why gengar wouldn't give me as much of that vibe (maybe because ground and water are "further apart" as far as types go, in my mind).
zhongli- first of all, that's way too many options for my mind to sort through and ramble about, though that's possibly for the better??? although i am inclined to say bastiodon, claydol and torterra seem to fit the vibe better (drampa as a joke absolutely, though), but that's not a particularly thought-through response, just the impression i happen to be getting at this moment. also you're right,,,, the lack of suitable dragon types is..... painful, to say the least,,, i kinda have to wonder why there have to be so few- and i could be wrong, but the older generation ones would probably fit better than the newer generation ones, just from what little i've seen 😔 ngl, i struggle a bit with some of the newest gens' designs, probably just because they feel rather different to the ones i am used to, though
xiao- well. now then. silver vibes, huh- okay, i hadn't thought of that. i think i can see it, of course no mistreating his pokemon, yes. and i can definitely see him having an umbreon or mightyena. crobat and shedinja would also be cool though yes. a particular vibe. shedinja is just,,, funky, anyway. also small. ish. i love how xiao's team spot on your showdown there is simply called tiny. no poking fun, just... that's so cute,, though none of them really stand out more than the others to me... huh. if it was umbreon or mightyena, he'd have a majority of dark types. that's interesting.
i literally can't think of anything to say for what you said for the twins. im just sitting here nodding because- yeah. that all fits very nicely. it just fits so nicely. the matching duos. so so good. also childhood shared pokemon eevee,,, that's a beloved idea,, i love that a lot
and going straight to the battle formats, then. doubles for the twins really only makes sense now that you mention it. just- that's what'd be natural for them... really love your ideas on the battle formats for the others, too. ... childe doing triples sometimes just for the chaos is definitely something that would happen. oh and i absolutely have to agree with the ideas for him and the contests- he would. he just would. also, when it comes to contests, i guess it's not that different from- like, in his character stories, it mentions that one tiny bit about public performances, that he often watches them and even sometimes participates? it fits perfectly with that kind of thing. he would make top tier pokeblocks and/or poffins too i bet.
... i think i've hit the end of the response thought ramble. my word did that become like, 10 times longer than what i originally thought and intended,,,, *glances at time* I'VE BEEN WRITING THIS FOR MORE THAN AN HOUR AND A HALF??? why- why am i even surprised. any true ramble takes me so much time to write and (legit quickly) check but,,, what.
well then. 👍👍 thanks for your ramble, and uh, thanks for letting me ramble on your ramble?? fr though, if i ever ramble a bit too much, let me know,,, anyway, would love to enable you more on this wherever and whenever possible. as i think i already kinda commented before i passed out last night, looking forward to seeing the kamisato siblings and thoma for this au :D
hahah no worries, i can't see the read more on the ask so i guess we'll have to see if it works once this is posted
i welcome the rambles dw EDIT: well yours doesn't work, it seems. i shouldn't be surprised, this is tumblr, after all
you're so right, childe would make the meanest poffins and pockeblocks. tonia would pull up to school with the best-smelling pastries and everyone would be like where'd you get those??? where'd you buy them???????? and she'd make this proud pose n be like 'my brother made them' like it's some exclusive chic store or smth. watch her make an empire in seventh grade selling childe's poffins to her classmates lmao
i feel like most of the ground and rock types fit zhongli, it's only a matter of picking which works best. and i think there being no dragon types that match is probably to do with the only chinese dragon-looking pokemon being...............................gyarados..................... and the rest aren't anywhere near the same vibe. like half the dragon pokemon don't even look like dragons. vibraba would've been a perfect fit with its type but why does it have to look like a bug?? like i know why but still. also dragonair. everything in that line up to dragonair would be perfect if only the last evo wasn't such a departure from the previous two.
also there's definitely a noticeable difference between the newer gen's designs, but i think it was bound to happen. times change. and you're right in that it's probably just bc we're not used to them. i mean they do put out some banger designs sometimes so it isn't like the quality has gone down as drastically as some would say. or at all. and saying the later designs are bad just bc i don't like them would imply i like all the designs from the older gens without exceptions. which isn't the case.
anyway uh- yeah, the kamisato siblings + thoma piece is in the works, but it might take a bit what with the whole.... arranging all three of them + all their pokemon (which makes 15)
so------ thank you! always happy to get rambly comments hahah

New anon, but I saw the last one and I have some thoughts. Specifically, I have been obsessing over ml for the last month or so, and I’ve only seen three episodes, and they were the three released before crocoduel. And you know what? I wasn’t that into it, it wasn’t bad it just wasn’t half as engaging as fanon and fanworks have been for me.
I’ve also done this with the Magicians, Supernatural, and a couple others. I think the reason that this works, for some people, is because it is a more familiar and in many ways, easier way to discover and become attached to new material and new characters. Fan writers and artists are coming from a place of love for their source material (no matter what issues they may have with it) and that bleeds out into their work. Time is spent developing the characters and their feelings, their relationships, in ways that canon so often can’t or isn’t allowed to, and reading that, it’s very easy to fall in love with new characters very quickly. There’s also common AUs and dynamics that make it much easier to start something new.
And also: comfort characters. So many fans find common ground with characters and further project onto them, particularly in fanfic. And because of that it’s often easier to identify with a fan’s interpretation of a character than it is to identify with the canon’s, since you have these more deeply explored feelings and relationships based on a combination of canon and the personal experiences of the fan writer. Also, with these kinds of fics it’s extremely emotionally affirming since for someone who doesn’t have much of any connection with the source material, it feels like the original, even if you’re reading a large body of work by a lot of different people. And I’m so used to fanfic as a substitute for the emotional work and character development that shows/movies/books don’t have room for or aren’t willing to get into, that approaching a fandom as it’s own original piece of media in a way, feels very comforting.
That’s my perspective on it anyways, and why I do this. I do think it is a good thing to engage with the canon to an extent, even if it’s just watching a few clips (how I found ml) but I also don’t think you need any real connection or knowledge of it to be deeply invested in the fandom. Sorry, this got very long.
you know, i totally get being on, like, the fringe of fandoms and interacting with fanon to an extent without a proper investment in canon (I have a couple fandoms like that), but i honestly just can't imagine becoming super invested in a fandom when I am not invested in the source material...maybe that's just a difference between you and me, idk.
but also, i gotta admit that i'm struggling a bit to understand the reason. you yourself pointed out that fan work is enjoyable because the creator's love for canon bleeds into it. and isn't that the reason that you would want to give canon a real chance? obviously there is fan content made out of spite lol (and sadly a fair amount in this fandom), but to me most fan content is like a love letter to canon. like, "i adore this thing so much that it inspired me to create and share with other people who adore it." and what better recommendation is there than that?? i would think people would wanna familiarize themselves with canon in order to better enjoy fanon(?)
i completely understand your point about fan content delving further into characterization and relationships where canon hasn't/can't, and that is such a big appeal of fanfic/fanart. but i don't feel like that's a reason to not engage with canon? on the contrary, i feel like you are missing something important in your understanding and appreciation of that wonderful exploration if you haven't experienced firsthand the foundation that canon set. and maybe that missing thing is just your personal interpretation of a character/dynamic.
for example, i could say, "adrien agreste is this, this, and this and he would do this but not this." and of course i will think im right because my characterization is always perfect 😌sakjdfaldjks but someone else might have a slightly different interpretation, and someone else will have another interpretation, and when you mush all those individual takes on a character together, you will get a good sense of who they are, but you still don't have the Original™️ to draw your own interpretation from. idk, to me it sounds like basing your opinion of chocolate ice cream on what other people are saying about it without ever trying it yourself? ajsldakljf maybe that's an oversimplification but i do think that without experiencing it for yourself, your understanding will always be kind of incomplete.
idk, i big agree with everything you said about why fan content is special, but everything that is a point in fanon's favor is not a knock on canon. to me fan content feels pretty inseparable from canon, so it just doesn't compute to me to take canon out of the equation? then we would have nothing.
i feel like it's almost kinda trendy nowadays to be like, "oh this show actually sucks lmao but the fanon and AUs are good." like it's shameful to actually...enjoy source material? 😭 i mean i completely understand that miraculous ladybug is not gonna be everyone's cup of tea and that's fine! but if you truly enjoy the fan content that much i encourage you to give canon a real shot. it's not that surprising to me that you watched 3 recent episodes and didn't vibe that much, since you haven't seen the 3 seasons of buildup that lead to them. miraculous has a neat way of tying a bunch of things together so if you aren't familiar with all of it, you're probably missing out.
personally my love for miraculous was kind of a slowburn at first. i only started watching the show because my sister and i made a deal that forced me to watch the first few eps lol. and i didn't really vibe either. but there must have been enough of a spark there for me to keep watching bc for some reason i did and the more i watched the more i fell in love with it until it became the thing that occupies my brain more than anything else. i started with canon and then got into fanon, but it could easily go the other way too. and if you're already invested in the story and characters, i have to imagine it would be much easier to push past the initial cringe of "this is a show about a couple of teen furries rated TV-Y7 on netflix" lol and give anything you don't vibe with the benefit of the doubt.
again, to be clear, i'm not trying to judge or gatekeep here! i'm just saying this because i genuinely LOVE miraculous. it's my favorite show. that's why i make things for it. that's why i have this blog. i want people to watch it. so maybe, pwetty pwease, try watching the show you like so much? 🥺👉👈

hey im the anon abt gyutaro/ume and i dont remember what happens to demons after they die ?? did i miss smth ? regardless i wanna ask what do you think their fate should be ? cause on one hand i think they're just victims of a cruel world who took the first way out they could find but on the other hand it doesnt rlly justify all the slaughter, and i also think abt the demon slayers who also suffered horrible fates and used it to fuel their determination to save other people from that pain
hi !! i don’t think kny ever explicitly mentions what happens to demons after they die (as in we never have concrete evidence of where they go or how their lives after are spent), but i think the general consensus is that the demons go to hell.
in some cases, the family can decide to go with them (ex: rui and i think akaza? if i remember correctly?) but their fate is pretty much sealed from that point forward i believe.
heres a pic of gyuutarou and ume, actually, in chapter 97 !!
but yeah !! thats something i think about a lot tbh. as you mentioned, many of the demons we’ve seen have either been groomed into demonhood (rui, ume, susamaru, etc.) or had their pain and suffering exploited (akaza, gyuutarou) for the sake of advancing other demons’ plans (muzan, douma, etc). so i agree ! a lot of these characters are unfortunate victims in themselves and its impossible to view their stories without incorporating the struggles they’ve had to face as both humans AND demons. especially considering that lots of these individuals experience muzan’s abuse regardless of their status relative to him (such as with the upper and lower moons). i think this is best explained through akaza’s relationship with muzan,
(ch. 67)
(ch.156)
and further explored though tanjiro’s observation of rui’s death. he notes that being a demon, for most, is an existence punctuated by extreme grief and despair, and that’s equally supported, i think, by the humanization of these demons following death. that their original conscious is restored (albeit with knowledge of everything they’ve done) and are oftentimes plagued by the guilt of what’s happened.
(ch.43)
what he says here is probably what sums it up for me. that while it’s important to condemn these demons and hold them accountable for the truly awful things they’ve done, it’s also important to consider the suffering they've experienced through existence alone. its so !! complex !! and thats what i love about kny. i love how .. you have some demons who are entirely despicable and bask in the carnage they create, but you also have some for whom demonhood was simply what appeared to be the only answer towards living a healthier life or righting the wrongs that’ve been done to them (usually with false promises and manipulation unbeknownst to them). and .. its so hard to figure out where to.. draw that line. or view these characters at least. because you sympathize with their pain, but you also realize that their actions have caused endless pain for many hundreds of people. tanjiro losing his entire family, giyuu losing his. shinobu watching her sister die before her very eyes, and kanao the same. the ubuyashiki family’s curse or the slaughter of himejima’s children. you look at characters like sanemi, shinobu, or giyuu and understand that you cannot invalidate their view of demons either. while kanae and tanjiro may find hope and humanity in demons, they exist as monsters who feast on pain to everyone else. its important not to discredit their perspective when making a personal choice to observe the demons’ hardships yknow. shinobu’s anger is just as warranted as tanjiro’s optimism and that neither are wrong for how they personally feel demons should be handled after death.
im like. AAAAAAAA theres so much to it , its really hard for me to condense into a few sentences AHAHA im so sry for making u read this if u still are. but . i guess i’m not too sure. i think maybe, had i experienced the same pain as those above, it would be easy for me to say the demons deserve to go to the worst hell imaginable regardless of what they’ve gone through because that history isn’t accessible to everyone like it has been the audience (or that they’ve seemingly made the conscious decision to cause harm w/o understanding the ways in which demonhood obscures their original conscious/morality). but at the same time, you have those like tanjiro whose world view is shaped by positive encounters with demons like nezuko, tamayo, yushirou, etc. where it seems very evident that . theres more to it than what meets the eye.
one of my friends ive talked to about this had a rly good perspective on it thats kinda stuck with me since !! she said she likes to view their conclusion as some . separation of identity?? if that makes sense?? that the demon side of them goes to hell while their human form goes to heaven (or division into whichever afterlife). and !! i think thats a really neat interpretation because there’s obvious descrepancy between demon personas and human personas. that the demon personas are like. exaggerations of their flaws, almost (akaza becoming hellbent on battle spirits and physical victories when hajuki’s fury & determination was fueled by love in a sense) while their human personas are the truest sense of self. and depending on which influence there is (muzan vs the appearance of loved ones), their identity changes accordingly. so ! idk ! thats one nice way of looking at it. holding their demon personas accountable while also recognizing that many of these characters deserve some form of healing after many hundreds of years of abuse. its hard because ofc i don’t want to negate the harms they’ve caused but its also? not cut and dry given the environment they were placed in and the fact that muzan’s blood essentially removes their humanity against their will you know. so in this way at least you have both forms of self receiving the proper conclusion.
whwhwhw so im. !!!!!!!!!!!! ah !! i can’t say i have a definite answer but i think the one above is smth thats comforting to me. i think the story settles with sending them to hell once they’ve regained their past self but also .. “softens” it by providing them company by their loved ones who are willing to go w them?? so thats rly cool to look at too. because it holds them accountable for all that’s happened but also.. recognizes that they’re not wholly responsible for it either and that .. even in hell they’re able to keep their connections and human emotions/experiences . its tragic yet oddly. fitting, i think, of the kny narrative. while i like the aforementioned interpretation, i also really.. appreciate the way its set up in canon too. like yeah i want the best for them but also. it fits in with the tragic nature of demonhood and what it meant for them all. oddly enough.
u make a good point too !! about demon slayers experiencing the same hardships but using their pain to help others. i think a lot of it is plainly chalked up to luck in terms of.. what they were exposed to following tragedy. how shinobu and kanae were saved by himejima, tanjiro saved by giyuu, kanao picked up by shinobu and kanae, sanemi given the guidance of kagaya while akaza was killed by muzan during his lowest moment, ume and gyuutarou were cornered by douma, rui misled by muzan, etc. i think circumstance is definitely a large factor in determining the paths that were taken. such as sanemi’s anger being validated and heard by ubuyashiki vs, say, akaza’s same anger being intentionally exploited for muzan’s gain.
aaa anyways. theres a lot 2 be said about this. like. SO much on my mind and obviously the extent of muzan’s abuse goes far deeper than what’s briefly mentioned here but. i love talking about the complexities of kny . and how i view the demons vs the corps and how each of them have grown into their respective stories . AA but ill end it here THNK U >> also so sry for making u read thru all of this i get so excited i could talk abt kny all day long if i had the chance AAA
#Anonymous#asktag#tldr: UH im a sympathetic bitch who wishes for some form of recovery for Some demons while also#finding it necessary to hold them accountable.#and easy way to do that is to split identities between human and demon persona but thats mighty convenient for such#a large issue so . the current narrative is probably the one i still oddly like#just bc the little peace they get before descent into hell is. really big#and their support by loved ones following them thru is also. really big#anyways. ya viri i thot of what u said bc its so good#its been a while so idk if its the exact version of how u view it but thts how it stuck w me JSBFSKBFSBJF#naywaysb I LOVE KNY AAAAAAAAAAAAA screams#kny#kny spoilers#kny manga#save for later

Homesquared Chapter 4
I cheated and some of my chapter 4 thoughts leaked into the chapter 3 post lol
Mostly about the pretty obvious Garden of Eden metaphor Dirk is for some reason setting up for himself and Rose as Adam and Eve
and I was about to say which begs the question of what the heck role Terezi is supposed to play as but then it’s very obviously as the Snake in the Garden
Terezi is very much just barely holding back some irritation towards how Dirk is treating Rose, but she’s also very intelligent and is aware of How much Dirk sees/knows and controls about their situation, so she’s probably leveraging her powers over Mind as much as possible in order to stay hidden in plain sight from Dirk’s narrative
and she does so in a way that is one of Dirk’s only blindspots - How Mind and other people have an effect in the determination of the Soul/Heart
By acting in a manner and doing things in a way that aligns with his expectations of her, he assumes and pigeonholes her into a type of character and bases his predictions of her behaviors off of that archtype, never expecting her to act outside it, and when he sees her actions and thoughts and desires all align within it, never questions that it might one day change or was different all along. Dirk’s never really been good at reading other people, can’t see without the lens of “how would I do it” blinding him to things he would never think to do, a trap that he keeps falling into with his friends and one he’s probably trying to overcome by becoming Ultimate God Person/combining all perspectives into his own and uncovering blindspots like that
But right now Mind is the darkest thing in is corner still and I think he sort of knows that as well
Terezi walks the crazy wiggled line boundary between their two Souls that defines who each of them is, as expertly as a person on a tightrope, never wavering until she reaches her destination, at which point she’ll leap off of that line and leave Dirk scrambling to try and calculate her next move/who exactly is she/what her goals are, since’s it won’t be following the clearly defined Heart boundary he’s used to drawing his plans by, so she’ll have to choose the perfect moment in order to entice Eve of the Apple of Revelation once more, heck, she might even do that so sneakily that she gets Adam to take a bite as well, since as soon as Rose bites it she’ll have an ally with her against Dirk.
For God created the Serpent originally as well, so thus why did he not imagine it’s betrayal and prevent it before it could have happened? Or else why did he create something he knew was going to betray? Eden was a paradise, so why intentionally create Evil in that paradise?
If Eve corrupted Adam and the Snake corrupted Eve, Who exactly corrupted the first Serpent? That’s something that the bible never goes into really, at least in Genesis, except to say that the Snake was punished for it’s action to forever crawl the earth eating the dust of man’s heel, punishing all snakes, as Adam and Eve’s punishment punished all humans
(Later I think the bible would try to say that the Snake was the Devil all along, but then why punish the Snake and all it’s progeny for it? If it was the Devil’s doing that undid Adam and Eve then why punish them for the Devil’s actions they would have no way of guarding against or now way of knowing it was a lie? Was it not God’s failure? The Walls of the Garden of Eden were supposed to protect his perfect creation afterall)
Gotta say though I really Rose’s design
I would call her Evil Rose, but she things she does she does in ignorance, not really out of evil, it would be like calling Eve evil for listening to the Snake when she was purposefully blinded to it’s intentions by her creation by God.
Once again we get this idea of Knowledge and Choice affecting eachother, Well I say again but really I’ve been watching RWBY a lot lately and the idea that you can’t make a real choice without real knowledge comes up a lot in it’s mythos and it is really applicable here
Terezi’s design as well is incorporating a lot more Red, she really dug those red shoes aesthetic but gave it her own twist, she’s got a red tie, her ever present red cane and glasses and even in that shot of her her horns look more red and solid as well, even though i know it’s just the lighting
So really digging the whole Terezi is the Apple/Snake in the Garden metaphor, she has also been having that tendency to just snack on random plants, intentionally for her own or Dirk’s unaware benefit or not, it’ll make it that much easier to her actions of later betrayal to be seen as “in character and therefore expected and not dangerous” instead of pre-meditated and actually dangerous, to him
And then they start waxing about their various philosophical babble, Dirk seems really determined to also use this to try and figure out that whole problem of how other’s affect the self, he’s trying at least, I think, in his own way. But not for a good reason, not so that he can have a real understanding of that, but because he wants to use it to guard his own self even further
He’s maybe not using Rose here as an equal player, but more like a wall to bounce his own ideas off of and test them, like using a neural learning AI to test ideas or an actual literal wall in a game of table tennis.
Heh, I got a chuckle out of the fact that Dirk’s answer to the Ship of Theseus problem is “why does we even have to remove and replace parts of it, why not keep the original pristine and eternal?”
because it’s funny how avoidant of the problem that answer is, man he really really is uncomfortable with the idea of changing the self in any way
“He's avoiding the question again. It's amazing how one can technically have the maximum amount of metaphysical personal awareness possible, and still not notice these sorts of things. “
SAYS LITERALLY YOU but honestly this is just more fuel to the idea that maybe he can make a genuine connection and understanding with a person if he can recognize how he and her are the same
“It's stuff like this that makes me wonder sometimes whether there's anything about myself that I'm missing. Then I throw that wonder in the garbage can and turn the incinerate setting on.”
but nah he’s still firmly denying that possibility, he’s almost actually equating his trauma of self erosion with the idea that making friends and understanding others changes the self in subtle ways as well
He can’t even stand the thought of his own close friends influencing him to be different in small subtle ways or adjusting his behavior for others because that STILL counts as a change of self that he didn’t authorize or choose.
Also can’t help but by be reminded of my wacky little fan made Gamma session I made forever ago by them using the name Delta-Detritus and basically be like alright, what if we do SBURB again but BETTER/worse this time?? Which is essentially the thread that most Homestuck fix it fanfiction tends to go towards
Though I am curious now
We got A/Alpha for Alternia which is based of off “Alternate” introducing the trolls as an alternate race to Human Earth
B/Beta for Beforus which is based of off “Before” introducing the planet of trolls that came before the first group
And then Earth C, now, there isn’t a letter C, the third in the greek alphabet is actually Γγ Gamma, (and the fourth is ΔδDelta)
So I wonder what “name” Earth C really has?
It feels like it should either start with C OR with GA, as Alternia starts with the AL of Alpha, Beforus starts with the BE of Beta and same with Deltritus and Delta
As as “Another for Earth” Gaia isn’t a terrible option all things considered, now you just have to make it sound like a word which describes it’s use to the narrative
It’s is a very split place, having the two timelimes Meat and Candy associated with it, as well it does feel extremely mercurial in nature, being a sort of crosswords between Homestuck and Homesquared proper, and really exists in a place between stories, an ephemeral epilogue of sorts
really a merger of Gaia and Gemini feels the most appropriate here, like Gamini, also the word mini stands out in there as well, knowing that this Planet is sort of on a lesser status compared to the other three since it’s not going to be the birthplace of a session, also has the word Game in it
But then people will wonder why it doesn’t begin with a C since it still is called Earth C so *shrug*
Honestly C K and G sounds are all very similar in the tongue, so maybe it’s both Camini and Gamini at the same time OH FUCK CA AND GA, ONE HAS CALLIOPE ONE HAS GAMZEE? SHIT IM ONTO SOMETHING (no im not)
I like Camini now better, it comes from a place of Gamma/Gamzee/Game/Gemini but ends up being more about the twinned Ca’s that were used to, Caliborn and Calliope and fits with the establish Earth C theme
So there you go, Earth C’s actual planet name should be Camini
which also works because:
Camini
home stove/furnace
smelting/foundry furnace, forge
vent (underground fires)
according to the latin language this word also has multiple meanings and many Irons in the Fire, I think the fandom will appreciate the name haha
Yeah both races are definitely going to both be playing one game of SBURB, despite what Dirk is intending, the pic does make it really clear
There’s something to say how Dirk seems to be represented by Purple and Rose by Orange in this here and then how all of the cave is a backdrop of that same purple.
Look at even the controllers on the machine having purple and orange knobs, even being solely on Dirk’s side of the image
I guess Dirk intends himself to be the force behind Derse, since that’s the force that always “wins” and Rose fitting in her place as the ultimate loser (since of course Dirk will want to win his own game) but also to be like Skaia the force of Prospit
So Dirk intends to be a whisperer like a horrorterror, choosing to manifest his influence that way, while Rose will give visions to her race like Skaia?
makes sense honestly
but again even with the themes of duality, the theme of the trio is bright and center in that piece of ultimately technology, the third influence hidden unseen in the furthest corner behind the curtain of snakelike tubes and wires that Dirk will not expect to interfere, or even have the capability to interfere, Terezi
heck it’s even in the buttons next to the controls being colored red blue and green
there’s so much duality in homestick with destructive red and creative green but then there’s also always been that mercurial breathy blue as the third
God, tell me that doesn’t look like a baby proto horrorterror
I can hear it raging it’s revenge against it’s cruel human creators even as I type
No wonder they become associated with destruction, they know theyre the pawns of two heartless cruel god children playing at life like it was a game
Rose you MUST KNOW how bad this is, it’s not a theoretical discussion anymore, that things exists and is alive and has feelings and you did it to that
and that thing is technically a Dirk too
Is this how Dirk get’s his revelation? Or downfall? As his Heart is unwittingly invaded by the horrified cacophanous screams of his grotesque tortured progeny crying out for his blood?
His end unintentionally ending up as the thing he feared most? Inner self destruction caused by his own sharp and bloody splinters turned and pointed inward, tearing himself apart with the pieces of his own Soul? Caused by his own Hubris?
I will say typing that all out is pretty good
I’m just sad the same will probably happen to Rose too though ): Maybe she’ll make careful more humane species? Something that has the potential to exist and be happy as it’s own creature while Dirk just creates monstrosities forever in conflict with Rose’s race?
They’ll each be the master of their own eventually destinies I suppose but Homestuck seems to have a good track record so far of the Ultimate Female Creator being out to protect the happiness of the children that exist in her creation while the Ultimate Male God just ends up destroying everything in his

uswnt anon here! yeah like you said, i believe there must be a loophole that Press managed to make use of, but i do think that that mightve only been a temporary/short term solution. afterall, she ended up going to utah after 3 months of her second stint at Kopparbergs/Göteborg. i do wonder if Houston didnt trade her rights then, what wouldve happened (the whole Houston debacle is another highlight of how cruel the trade system is, on top of even more recent stories of players like Stengel). (1)
but i completely agree with you about the terms of the NWSL. i think it's been made abundantly clear, by national and international players (ie Asllani, Henry) and pundits alike, that the NWSL's model is doing them in. i know a lot, if not all, of us hate it when people like to chalk up the league to be the best in the world, but i believe that's just misplaced analysis because the players of best (im going off by recent results/rankings here) team in the world play there.
it's clear that the way things are run, that USSF cares more about maintaining their national team status than the proper maintenance of the NWSL. but i also do think that as long as the NWSL keeps its really weird season schedule, that the USWNT cant (excluding the actual clause that they have to play in the league) find it in their heart to leave the league, knowing how horribly wrong it can all go.
i think the draft system is also what's affecting the youth teams. the draft system takes in your collegiate athletes, and while great for those athletes, it also screws with whoever cant go to university. which is a whole other conversation about privilege but let's leave it at that for now. i think what we might have missed out on about youth development is that other countries have club academies. the NWSL doesnt have that. their collegiate athletes are their "development/youth" players when compared to other leagues. and i do think in the long run, this will mess with them since other national teams are just getting younger and younger with more investment. Harvey can be seen as the saviour of the youth teams but i do believe the reality is that the problem lies within the NWSL and USSF-USWNT system. and i think, as i believe most of us do, that so long as the system doesnt change, the USWNT/NWSL will suffer. i dont think they'll be dethroned so easily but it's not benefitting them, especially when salary caps (even though recently increased) exist for international players while the transfer market values will keep rising. we'll probably see more and more migrations like the aussies have done this season (probably the kiwis next).
i'd like to link some articles if you wouldnt mind! and i also do realise how the articles will make me look like a Caitlin Murray fan, which i am but i swear the articles of her i found to send this ask were coincidental (i mean she's one of the USWNT's best journalists so it's probably why they’re from her). (6)
here's the Press saga: amp(.)theguardian(.)com/football/2018/mar/13/christen-press-houston-dash-trade-womens-soccer-uswnt how club academies would benefit USWNT/NWSL: sports(.)yahoo(.)com/amphtml/how-wed-fix-soccer-homegrown-rule-academies-would-be-good-for-nwsl-and-uswnt-180254345(.)html (8)
a piece that highlights how being a USWNT player binds you to the NWSL with the time Horan left PSG: equalizersoccer(.)com/2016/01/04/psg-terminates-contracts-for-horan-asllani/ Hope Solo's piece on privilege of football in the USA: amp(.)theguardian(.)com/football/2018/sep/04/usa-womens-soccer-team-white-hope-solo sorry it got so long again! (9)
once again I couldn’t agree with you more! It’s true that there’s more than just them being contractually bounded to the NWSL, even if they were able to get around this USSF holds more power over them than they hold over USSF when they’re holding trophies, medals and olympics over their heads especially. Plus the summer schedule the league has does nothing to help the situation since it’s very hard to join a winter season European league for a full season or something. Obviously now would be as good a time as any to transition given the shorter nature of the challenge cup, but I don’t see this happening on such short notice for many reasons.
As for the youth team conversation, it’s the case in most of not all places that elite sport is a privileged department, but I particularly see this to be the case in the US where football from a young age, right up to college even if you get a scholarship, is really damn expensive to stay in. So I definitely agree with you that this is a very limiting factor on the pool of athletes they get. Hope Solo’s article about this too is also very insightful, stuff like “Imagine if the next LeBron James played soccer. But I don’t think we’re even looking for players in places like Akron, Ohio” proper puts things into perspective about privilege beyond just paying for training and playing but also scouting location etc. Definitely an uncomfortable and though-provoking must read.
Youth academies, like both you and that article said, are an important step on the path towards development and yet they’re practically nonexistent and unused in the nwsl. Plus I really like Murray’s point about homegrown talent rule, I think that could be really beneficial on a lot of levels if it is finally put into place. Also she mentions the difference in resources between NCAA unis and nwsl clubs like an anon mentioned here earlier, which tbh is pretty shocking to me. Like how can university facilities be more competent and welcoming than elite club ones?? The fact that some call it the best league in the world when financially it is so on edge is pretty mind-boggling in my opinion.
Thanks for the link to the Press saga too, a very interesting more indepth insight into all that mess which honestly looks like not much was learnt from. I also like her point between women and men when they are forced to play somewhere they don’t want to, since there are both less viable options and also less mega-large pay checks involved to influence their decisions. With the Horan article being more of the same about being forced back to the US for an uswnt shot, again against what she would have preferred to do in a first instance. Plus it’s interesting that Gulati actually specifically states the contractual binding by saying that “It was actually part of our contractual agreement with the women’s national team that they would play in this [NWSL] league”. I’ll leave it there for now because this is getting way too long but thanks once again for all your resources and points to consider!!

Episode 160
The next two episodes will be done as soon as I can do them, hopefully today R.I.P. im sorry
Honorable mentions:
Why does everyone just assume that Blyke needs to leave his dorm and stay with Isen? Like I get that he planned that with Isen and stuff but when he went into John’s and his dorm, John asked why he was there because he obviously wasn’t expecting him to be there. Idk. It mostly makes sense i dont know what im being so annoying about lol
Blyke’s perspective on Joker:
So in this episode, Blyke talks about his annoyance (bad word choice but eh) that Joker is stronger than literally everyone. He doesn’t understand why the other high-tiers aren’t concerned by the fact that John is the strongest person at Wellston, especially considering the character John is. Blyke keeps seeing Joker beating up his friends over what seems like nothing and how irresponsible he’s been. All of the other high-tiers have decided that there is nothing they can do about Joker because, let's be honest, there really isn’t. And even though Blyke knows this, he still isn’t able to accept it because he doesn't want to accept that the fate of Wellston and the wellbeing of the school rides on John’s shoulders. He won’t let himself accept that someone with evil intentions has all of the control. It very much highlights Blyke’s white knight traits that I bring up every once in a while. His almost generic hero outlook on the world that really does make him admirable.
I’m very intrigued as to how this will make Blyke act in the future. Because he can’t allow John to be the king. His morals, his perfectionism, won't let him. This sounds pretty shit typed out, but that’s because I’m horrible at articulating myself. R.I.P.
Another very important thing to mention: Blyke’s insecurities about his ability. This has been a recurring motif for Blyke, thinking that he isn’t strong enough or that he’s not good enough to be the king. I think it stems both from the trait I mentioned earlier of not being able to accept something less than perfect (Joker as the king of Wellston) and from thinking badly of himself. They blend together because if Blyke doesn’t feel that he’s good enough and also feels the need to have everything perfect, he’s going to feel that he needs to make himself a ‘better person’ or maybe even a ‘perfect person’. This could take place in the form of extra training, and likely will, which I will talk about in a second.
I do, actually, want to be on the lookout for more nightmares or other similar torments from Blyke. If this issue becomes the psychological toil that I think it will for him, we’ll have something else on our hands. The nightmare shown in this episode also really reminds me of the nightmares that John used to have. It was presented in a similar way by Uru-chan, and I know that John’s nightmares happened because what happened with Claire had impacted him so extremely that he felt he couldn’t escape it and his dreams kept chasing him. John’s whole life became centered around what happened in his past and the lie that maintained that it didn’t repeat itself. If the events concerning joker and Blyke become similar for Blyke, that’s pretty serious. It would likely almost completely change his character, though I don’t want to assume anything based purely off of John because I know that one person’s experience isn’t everyone else’s. So I’m keeping this open. Anyway-
So I do believe that Blyke will train to make himself stronger until he is on par with at least Arlo. That’s my prediction. I think Blyke will get stronger and stronger and take everyone by surprise and then he will try to fight John again. This is what I think (hope) will happen. Still unsure on where Sera fits in this though because obviously she is one of the only characters who could take John, but her powers are still gone and there haven’t been any developments on that for a while. Blyke, though, has been actually thinking about these things, so my prediction for him is realistic. It’s practically obvious that this is where Blyke’s storyline is going to go, at least I hope it is lol.
Isen’s perspective on Joker:
Like i mentioned before in Blyke’s perspective the other high-tiers aren’t as concerned with John or at least they’ve resigned themselves to the outcome of the fight, they’ve given up and accepted defeat. Isen is one of them and his viewpoint really helped show how the others are thinking about this too, but maybe we’ll get more specific thoughts on the situation from the other characters in the future.
But we do know now how Isen feels. He says, “That’s just how life goes. We pissed off someone stronger than us and we were punished for it. It’s that simple.”
This is a very predictable response from a higher-tier because the foundations of this belief rely heavily upon the construct of the hierarchy and the beliefs that are spread with it. The strong are on top and the weak are at the bottom. It’s logical for anyone, actually, not just high-tiers to apply this rule to the events relating to Joker. Because at its roots, this really is a play for power. This whole Joker thing really is just a magnified rank battle. And John came out on top. Anyone who respects the hierarchy is going to accept his leadership. This is why most of the high-tiers have the same mindset in this situation, and why Blyke is an outlier. The hierarchy makes sense, okay? I will say it again and again, we’ve already seen what happens when people don’t fall into their proper place with Rei.
Isen is not, and never was, a royal, yet he was still a higher-tier with close relationships to those who were. He has been exposed to the hierarchy and its absence. In this episode he says that there was nothing that they could do, yeah, but also should do. Joker was the king of the school fair and square. He decided to show his strength and proved that he was more powerful than everyone else. That makes him in charge.
This doesn’t really make sense, not because of what I’m saying, but of the way I’m saying it and I’m sorry, but I literally can’t write wth.
Anyway, this whole concept and acceptance of the hierarchy that runs commonly within high-tiers seems to have missed Blyke. He’s an obvious outlier that believes he has to do something about Joker as king. The thing is, he isn’t technically contradicting the hierarchy because he knows the only way he can take Joker down is if he can beat him in a fight and that's the only way he’ll do it, and that technically in line with the hierarchy so idk.

(Damn, I had to make a new post because something weird happened to the cut when I edited, it went into the ask itself and isn’t working and I can’t fix it lmao, sorry!)
Anon asked:
it would be interesting to me if you made a post about the elton books you have read. like how they differ and your opinion on them. ive only read Me but im interested in finding some other reads
Hi! I’m sorry this took so long, I’ve suddenly been CRAZY busy with work now that there’s proper concerts happening again (and yay for that), but Anon, you have no idea how much I would like to answer that question and I’ve been thinking about it all week lmao, I think it’s super interesting to look at the differences between them. So of course I went amok and wrote way too long so just bare with me.
I’ve read 5 books in full and I’ve listed them in the order in which I read them.
1. Me by Elton John. You’ve all read that so I don’t have to explain it. It was the first one I read and my fav thing about it is how funny it is, and of course it’s very personal and therefore more emotional than some of the others. I absolutely love it and I honestly haven’t read a book that has engaged me so much in yeeeeaars, I would recommend that book to anyone, not only Elton fans.
2. Captain Fantastic by Tom Doyle. This book focuses on the 70s (but also includes his childhood/youth). I thought it was a great supplement to Me, because many of the same stories are in there, but since the time span is shorter, it’s more detailed, and we get to hear other people’s versions of the events. What I particularly found interesting is the part about Elton breaking through in America. He’s always described it as sheer luck and being at the right place at the right time himself, and I’m sure that’s his experience of it, but that’s not what happened. I find that extremely fascinating. Here we get to hear from his first American label who basically got Empty Sky for free because it had been rejected by many others. Before they got the chance to release it Elton John came out which is obviously a step up production wise and they dropped everything and started pushing that album instead. Everyone at the label thought it was so great they really went all in with the promotion and managed to create a hype even though he was a complete unknown and that’s how he got the Troubadour gig. This book in several ways I think show that Elton is too humble when it comes to his talent, like you don’t get to headline over established and popular artists before the most important people in the industry as an unknown by sheer luck. It happened because the album was so great, the label were convinced he was going to be a star and they went for it. I really liked the book in general. Even though there is no shocking new info there, it shines a different light on several stories from Me which I find very interesting.
3. Sir Elton by Philip Norman. This book is about his life up until 1991 and it’s really long and super detailed, like some impressive work went into this one. (I listened to the audio book on scribd as they had a 30-day free trial because of corona, I don’t know if that’s still an offer but if it is I really recommend it.) It’s a bit weird because on one side the author managed to detail and capture Elton’s personality SO well (he’s said so himself too) and the way he writes makes some of the stories so vivid it almost felt like watching a movie. I actually found myself getting as emotional as I did reading Me at several points, like I literally shed tears here and there. But then on the other side, there are several things that bothers me a lot about this book. First of all it seems like Norman for some reason think Stanley was a great father and is trying to convince us that Elton is wrong about everything he’s said about him. Like, why? He’s clearly talked a lot with his 2nd wife Edna and her perspective is obviously very different from Elton’s. But some of his points are just really weird like f.x. he says that Elton says his dad didn’t care about him but this is wrong because he actually had a framed photo of him in his room when he was in the RAF. Like….????? How does that prove anything? As long as Elton didn’t know about it, it means fuck all! You don’t get a gold star because you keep a framed photo of your only son wtf? Another example: One Christmas after the divorce Elton didn’t get a present or a card or anything. But this was because they had very little money and their new son was ill. Well that’s sad, but Elton didn’t know that? You could at least have called and explained it or just sent a card to let him know you were thinking of him too? The whole problem is that he didn’t SHOW that he loved him or was proud of him, he can have as many framed photos he likes but that doesn’t matter when you never show any kind of affection. Another example cause I’m on a roll: Edna says Elton in fact enjoyed his visits to them (which he himself has said he hated) she says he used to sit alone and play with their typewriter. That sounds sad AF??? Why are you trying to convince me this is great parenting? I know it was a different time but fuck! One thing I do believe though is that Sheila probably helped along the narrative that Stanley was awful, I think it’s very likely that she has exaggerated or even made up stories about him, but that’s not Elton’s fault. Another downside with the book (imo) is that Norman is apparently the world’s biggest fan of Dick James and there’s just sooo much boring stuff about Dick James there, I’m sorry but when he starts talking about Dick James I recommend you fast forward. The whole point is to set up the court case between him and Elton that happened in the 80s (in which he clearly thinks Dick was in the right) but I’m just not interested in that at all. If you are though, this is the book for you lol. Then there’s the things the author got wrong. First of all, he didn’t know about Elton’s drug use which is quite essential. Although you can easily read between the lines of what the interviewees are saying, so it’s not that distracting. Second, he seems to believe that Elton is actually bisexual which he obviously isn’t (and before I get accused of bi-erasure, he has said so himself time and time again that he’s never been interested in women and his coming out as bi in 76 was a “chicken out”) and it really bothered me cause it reads a bit homophobic to me as he seems to believe Sheila when she said that he “wouldn’t have been gay if it weren’t for show business.” So I’m a bit conflicted about this book. It has more negatives than the others but the good parts are SO SO GOOD. I would be very interested in hearing other people’s opinions about it.
4. Elton John by David Buckley. Another one I listened to on Scribd. This is a quite new one so certain things have come to light which makes it more accurate. It’s another book that didn’t have a lot of groundbreaking new information, but he’s for some reason the only one who’s talked to Gary Osbourne and he has a lot of interesting things to tell. I think Gary deserves more credit and he was very close to Elton in a very interesting part of his career/life so it’s worth reading for that. This book is also about his whole life but way shorter than Sir Elton so obviously not as detailed, but there’s some fun stuff and new anecdotes in there.
5. Elton, my Elton by Gary Clarke. Gary was Elton’s on/off boyfriend between 1982 and 83 (ish) and obviously knows him in a way these other authors don’t. I was a bit unsure about reading this as I think it’s a bit tasteless to expose someone to that extent (and he goes into some seriously intimate details), but otoh I felt like it was kind of the missing puzzle piece so I bought it in the end (on ebay) and I can’t really say if it actually answered the questions I had or just gave me more. I thought Elton was weird before reading this and it certainly didn’t make me think he’s any less weird. It starts kind of cute, it almost reads like one of those self-insert popstar fanfics at first (not that I’ve ever purposely read any of that but you know, it’s hard to be on tumblr without stumbling upon that stuff now and again) but then it gets really dark. Which is because Elton apparently was clean when they first met but then after some time he started spiraling, so it’s just… it actually made me a bit nauseous tbh and it’s so frustrating too, I genuinely yelled “Elton, no!” out loud at one point lmao. But I have already talked at length about this book, particularly what I found disturbing about it and you can find that post here. If you’re interested in reading this book though, you should be warned there’s some rapey content, (though to be clear, that has nothing to do with Elton) and dubious consent.
So anon, since you’re looking for some further reading, these are all good and interesting books I think. It’s a bit hard to say which one I liked best because obviously, for every book I read there’s less new info. But then all of the books have stories I hadn’t heard before so they’re all worth reading if you’re crazy obsessive like me and wants to know absolutely everything lol. I really enjoyed reading all of them (well enjoy isn’t the right word for Gary’s book but yk.) so I guess you should just consider what sounds more interesting to you and go for that :) If you take away the negatives I think Sir Elton is probably the one I enjoyed the most, while Elton, my Elton is the most revealing. Elton John is more complete while Captain Fantastic is really good if you’re more interested in the 70s and his breakthrough.
Thank you so much for the ask! I hope you found what you were looking for and enjoy some further reading! To anyone else who might be reading this: if you have thoughts on any of these books or things you want to discuss, please, my inbox is open! :D

Reasons i love clairestance an essay
So I love claire. Really I honestly think she brings something to constance that makes the character interesting and lovable.
She brings very raw bitchy younger sibling energy that I love bc it separates her and aloyisia in a way. Like we see mozart fall for aloyisia who is all aloof and prim and proper and meek (until shes really Not but god my "i love aloyisia" rant is a whole other ball game) but he ends up with the punky younger sibling and not only is that great from a storytelling perspective, but it also gives us an insight into Mozart too. Bc let's face it; Mozart is a punky bitch too and we all know it.
As for her acting, I realise its unconventional but you cannot claim to have your suspense of disbelief broken during a literal emo rock opera about Mozart. Usually it is quite easy to suspend disbelief during musicals because the type of music will fit with the genre of the musical and the themes (see. Les Mis, My Fair Lady, etc etc.) But a musical about Mozart in the 1700s set to Rock music? Come on... we are not supposed to question that?
By using the music like that the writers are trying to make us think about the point they are trying to make and the characters in a different way. In an unconventional way. They are forcing you to leave behind any prejudices about the Mozart story you may know and listen to THEIR version. (Again im stopping here bc my 'the concept of mor is genius' is another rant too)
So I think that shitting on Claire's acting (or any og cast for that matter) is doing them a disservice. They cast her. They wanted to show the side of Constance that no one knew and they thought would be fun. If they didn't want that edge they wouldn't have cast her. Diane is beautiful and a fantastic actor obviously but, for me, her Constance is the same constance I've always known in Mozart ""lore"". I enjoy watching her bc I think she is fantastic at what she does of course and she portrays the Constance she wanted to portray beautifully and wonderfully, but there was nothing new or refreshing about her portrayal that caught my attention in the way Claire's did.
Furthermore it is so important for musical theatre to employ unconventional actors honestly. Musical theatre has reached a point where 99.9% of the voices are near identical and its. Boring. It's making every musical feel stagnant and dull and honestly I love Claire's voice.
It's not a traditional musical theatre voice and thank g o d. I love how she sings ajvdm in a way that isn't just the notes. (The beauty of musical theatre is that it's about acting AND singing and so theres no reason to sing the notes perfectly bang on. Again - that just leaves me bored.) And I remember actively whooping and punching the air when I heard her sing sjd for the first time bc GOD she has a pair of lungs on her. She has a rock and roll voice and mor gave that voice a chance to shine and god BLESS bc I feel personally attacked pls im gay claire go easy on me.
And yeah she breaks the 4th wall a lot in that song in comedic ways (the boob adjustment. The little mrow hand) but uh. Thats. The point of the song. That song is where Constance is allowed to air her want to be a sexual being ie. The side of Constance the history books don't show. The punky rebel side of Constance. This is not a long sighy love song about how she misses Mozart. This is her saying "I'm spoiled for choice in men but everything kind of on fire so better not". I think the 4th wall breaks are fun and also she's literally in a solioquy so the 4th wall has come and gone baybee its Gone. There isn't one. It's gone. Also she does a flip guys come on thats fun. Have some fun. I love having fun. I love flips. Shes so cool damn.
Basically Claire's Constance is fun. It's a little silly and punky and cheeky. That's the joy of it. She's unconventional as a singer and as a person but if we can't have unconventional actors in a rock opera about mozart then where exactly do we expect to find them? I think it's easy to get so deep into fandom that the concept of MOR seems normal but uh. It is not. It is nuts. The whole concept is nuts. Beautiful but nuts. So give me punk rock younger sibling Clairestance any day I love being surprised when watching musicals it doesn't happen often enough anymore and Claire did that for me so Bless That Woman.
#claire perot#mor#mozart lopera rock#mozart l'opera rock#i love theatreeeee and claireeee and im just in love with her#moraholics

TT: Plus, working as a cop is an equal mix of 'keeps me active' and 'allows me to work around certain roadblocks in regards to the acquisitions business', so it was a good compromise. TT: Better than fast food and skin flicks again, at any rate.
TG: i mean i guess that makes logical sense n all TG: still fucking wild as shit to me TG: guess you can still wear a uniform even its obviously not as sweet as the fast food ones
TT: Yeah, I really miss that old greasy apron. TT: But what can you do?

TG: kay > Try not to freak out. Freak out anyways.
> Pull up by the curb a short walk away and park. > Look, you even pay for the parking meter and everything. > Step out of the car in your full uniform and approach Sock, one hand in your pocket, the other raised in a wave hello.
> Oh god, he really fucking is a god damn cop. That's so damn weird. God. > Not as weird as randomly meeting up with him for a hug though. Damn it that was the dumbest idea. > You wave back, trying hard to look cool and not like you are dying on the inside and failing miserably.
> You stride up alongside him and... ...well, now what, actually. > Neither of you are very good at this kind of planning, are you. > Damnit, Striders. "Hey." > Now just to... > ... > Open your arms up? > Yeah. That's how hugs happen.
> Oh god, he's going right for it.Oh god. Not even small talk or anything really bro? > Maybe that's better anyways because god know you don't know what to say. "Hey." > You take a deep breath and you...Go for the fucking hug. Squeeze that big bro tight.
> Aww shit here it comes and here he is. All up and hugging you. > Actually, that's uh. > That's real nice. > You wrap your arms around him and pull him in for a good, tight hug. > It's probably not the most comfortable thing, what with your radio strapped onto your chest and name plates aand shit, but. > At least for you? This is a fucking good hug. > (Don't you dare tear up in public.)
> You don't really care about the cofort level of this, it's something you've been craving for 13 years now, a little radio isn't going to stop you from enjoying it. > It's nice. It's familiar, like all the good parts of Bro you've been missing wrapped up for you in one big huggable form. Easy to forget all the shit for a moment. > But the moment does end and when you pull away you have to wipe at you eyes like an idiot. "Uh...Th-thanks."
> Aww, shit goddamn. He's teaaring up too under those glasses. > You swipe one knuckle under your shades, and you take a steaadying breath. "Hey, yeah, no problem." > Breathe easy, Strider. You glance up for a moment as you see a fatass snowflake come drifting down, then you look to Sock again. "Hey, you wanna maybe grab some lunch with me? Haven't eaten yet and it's still my break, so."
> Well at least you are both sappy motherfuckers now. > Oh. You didn't expect that. You think about what Dave told you earlier "Stay in control" and promptly decide to fuck that advice because shit. You are already here. You already went for it like an idiot. "Yeah sure. Gonna have Donuts like a proper cop?" > You make such a face at the snow. Ugh, you didn't really prepare for that kinda weather, fuck.
> You snort a laugh and give your flat stomach a pat. "Gotta work on that signature cop gut, don't I? C'mon." > You gesture behind you with a jerk of your thumb. "Hop in up front. You can pick the place."
"Hell yeah you do. You look like a fake ass striper cop dude." > You get into the car and immediately get the seatbelt. Doesn't feel safe otherwise. You don't really like cars still but you can't pin point why. It's just a weird personality quirk yeah? But you are used to being in one at this point of your life. > Just drive carefully. Please.
> You hop in and buckle up too, both pleased and a litttle saddened that you didn't even need to remind Sock to put on his seatbelt. > Poor kid. > Luckily, you are an impeccably safe driver, and the drive to Wherever is smooth and uneventful.
> Old habits die hard. > You feel kind of awkward in the car with him, it's too silent for our tastes. > You get out of the car at whatever this amazing food place he's taking you is. Fingers crossed for fast food- "Y'know kinda funny. Always figured my first frive in a cop car would be because I'm getting arrested."
> You snort a laugh. It's Sock's old favorite pizza place. > God you hope he still likes this shit. > Also this wasn't a Pizza Pimp before, was it? It was Gino's-- > Wait. > Ugh, well, maybe Dave's not at work. "If you're planning on getting arrested, you're doing this pushing thing wrong, kid."(edited)
> Oh the Pizza Pimp. Fucking score. Maybe Dave is there, that would be rad. "I didn't say I was, I said I didn't think I'd ride a cop car otherwise. Your hearing getting bad?" > You immediately freeze after saying that. Oh man, actually sassing Bro though? Please don't hit me.
> Dave is unfortunately not there, but he sure would love to.
> You catch that freeze, and you... > You snort a little, before pointing to your ears. "Too many concerts and phat-ass beats. Knew I shouldn't have gotten all up and personal with those speakers. Who knew the grown-ups were right about that?" > You smile, and it's a little awkward cuz you sure as hell have never been the smiling type, before you hold open the door for him. "C'mon, before we freeze our asses off."
> Oh. Okay. It's cool. It's chill. In a quite literal sense even so you get your silly ass inside. > A smile though? You haven't seen your brother smile in...far longer than you haven't seen him for sure. > That little scare knocked the speech right out of you though so you just awkwardly sit down at the next best table, suddenly really not sure how good of an idea this was.
> You take a seat opposite him, and when the server approaches, you order yourself a water instead of a soda. > Who are you, even. > You glance over the menu, humming softly. Some of these item names... fitting for a place called Pizza Pimp. "You wanna split one, or do individuals, or?"
> Who is he indeed. You order a black coffee instead of apple juice though, so maybe the traditional Strider beverages are just staying outside today. "Uhhh..Not super hungry honestly I don't mind sharing one." > You haven't been able to eat a whole pizza at once in a while but you don't say that.
"Alright. We'll split a medium and you can take the rest home if you want." > You let him pick the toppings too. This really is a strange Strider day.
> The strangest. Do they have nuggets as topping because you want that.
> They might have like, baked chicken, which is kinda like nuggets and also? Is Carro-approved.
> Do you think the pizza pimp doesn't have a nugget topping what kinda fool do you take Dave for.
> A big one. >:3
> LISTEN Nuggets have been added like at least two months ago. Cock Special.
> Goddamnit, Dave.
> Sock loves Dave and the Cock Special Pizza. Prepare ya taste buds Bro.(edited)
"One Cock Special with extra cock please" > Yes, this is exactly how you order.
> Oh your face. > You're so fucking proud. Dave sure is your little brother, and so too is Sock. > Bless these fucking kids.
"Hope you like it, it's my fav." > Both the pizza and you know.
> Yeah. Yeah, you know. "Sure I will." > Snort a laugh. "This sure isn't Gino's anymore, huh. You remember that place?"
"Oh yeah. Man..That's been a while. Clover gifted the place to Dave what? 2 years ago?" > Back when you were on a no homo basis. Memories.
> [Clover: nya face]
"Used to be your favorite, but maybe that's because it was free when I worked here. ...Clover?"
"I'm always a slut for free food but I still digged their shit later. Oh uh..Yeah. Little green guy? 4 of the Felt?" > Should..You now have mentioned that?
> [Dave] Oh no.
> There's this shift in your face. It's not a frown, but a certain tightening of your lips as you're hit with the full brunt of what Sock just said. "...Dave's...doing business with the Felt?"
> WHOOPSIES >Oh. Oh, oh, oh shit. You fucked up. You didn't really think about that when you said it. At all. Shit. Fuck. Damn. "Hahaha whaaaat? Noooo. Of course not! He'd never uh...Clover is just y'know his uh... Sugar daddy yeah. Cash money man, can't say no to that even from a greenie right?" > Well it's not entirely a lie. You are sweating though.
> You paw at your face and you sit back in your seat, eyebrows knit together tightly. > Looks like you're going to have to have a little talk with Dave when you get home. "...No, guess not. Desperate times and all that, right?"
"Yeah exactly! Haha..." > God this is uncomfortable. You are going to warn Dave but you already feel like shit. Fuck. "Don't...Don't hurt him okay?" > There's fear in your eyes now. Not for you but for your boyfriend, which is so much worse in your eyes.
> That snaps you Right out of your bad thought spiral and you quickly wave your hand. "Hey, no, no. Not gonna hurt him. It's chill." > There's that smile again, even if it's uneasy and a bit green around the gills. Your brother and the Felt... "Really. Just surprised he hadn't mentioned it before now."
> [Dave] GUESS WHY.
" 'kay..." > He probably hadn't mentioned it for a reason. You couldn't have known Dave wasn't supposed to do business with the Felt but you still feel like shit. It makes sense in hindsight and considering your history of course but...You just plain didn't know. > The Pizza arrives but you suddenly don't feel very hungry at all, sipping on you coffee awkwardly instead.
> You're, similarly, not hungry, but you've got to salvage this. Not telling when or if Sock will agree to see you again after this. "Sorry, I just... Y'know, getting offered a gift by those guys. If they had snatched Dave too..." > You shake your head, and sigh it off. Out with the bad. "But they didn't, and that's that. So." > You take up a slice of the pizza and you point is casually at Sock, an eyebrow quirked. "What're you out there peddling?"
> Oh. You'd really rather not follow that line of thought, yeah. Smooth topic change. "Dude, don't think I should be discussing that with a cop in a pizzeria. Mr D would murder me man."
"Hey." > You make a show of taking off your badge and laying it upside down on the table. "Off-duty, not a cop. So is it the good shit, or is it like, oregano in a dimebag being passed off as weed."
"We're still in public man." > And you don't want to piss off your Dad on top of the shit you just pulled.
"Yeah, yeah. Weren't you in public anyway?" > You chuckle a little and you point toward the kitchen area. "Your big bro used to sell shitty dimebags out of there, way back. Dealt to all the line cooks."
" Course you did." > You roll your eyes behind your shades. "What you want an inventory list? Okay I'll just tell you my favorite product aight? Kinder Überraschungseier......The surprise is Cocaine." > Huh, sure did slip into your mother tongue there. Welp..
> Okay. You actually laugh then. "You're selling Kinder Überraschungseier full of Cocaine. Shut the fuck up, seriously?" > You're nodding approvingly now. "That's a fucking great idea. Where the fuck'd you get the chocolates, though? Make them yourself?"
> That makes you feel..really proud? Huh. You can't stop the big dorky grin from spreading on your face. "Best idea I ever had, honestly. I'm importing them from earth, duh. Along with a bunch of other banned sweets and shit. Who the fuck thought peeps are illegal anyways?"
> You balk at that and you laugh again. "Peeps are illegal here-- wait, shit, right." > Smack your forehead. "That's my job to know that now. Wow, fuckin fire me now."
"Maybe I should show you my stock, just as a reminder. A fucking lot of dumb shit is. Fucking Lattes were banned man. Until the King unbanned them just for Jude which is honestly so fucking stupid. Way to play favorite, just like royalty should am I right? Not that I'm complaining, love me a big fat Latte." > Man it's...Nice to be able to make that kind of shit tier level german dick joke and to know you're gonna be understood just fine.
> You snort your water and you pull a face, but you're clearly goofing around a loving it. "Fucking nasty, dude. I don't need to hear about your love of big hot fuckin Lattes."
"Aren't you glad the prospitian monarchy digs a steaming hot Latte too? What a life that would be otherwise." > You snort yourself.
"Jesus christ. Fuckin whities, dude." > You stuff some pizza in your mouth and you talk withyour mouth full like the fat nasty trash you are. "Can you believe I have to work with them? Like what the fuck."
"The Queen gives me the creeps with her I love everyone bull. And the King seems like a huge fucking idiot so...Congrats man. Jackpot."
"Not had the chance to meet either, but this is the closest I've gotten to infiltrating the corrupt government yet. Maybe if I keep my shit up, I can finally overthrow them from the inside." > You are entirely dead seriouus.
"What's the masterplan? Shoot them in public?" > You aren't but you also don't mind the topic. Not a fan of these guys.
"Nah, nah, nothing like that. Too messy. Besides." > You gesture at the scar that runs oveer your eyes. "Never been a fan of guns."
"I know." > Hell maybe you should be grateful he ain't. Swords fucked you over bad enough. "Seems like a popular approach is all. Like historically or whatever. But I guess you gotta go for something less stale huh?"
"Of course. Flashy's the only way to be when you're taking out a corrupt system of government."
"Looking forwards to the show Bro." > Except you hope he's fucking joking.
> You totally fucking aren't. > You toss him a wink, which of course he can't see all that well behind your shades. "Hope it's a good one. You gonna eat any pizza, lil bro?"
"Oh, right." > You finally grab a piece too. "How's the Cock Special?"
> Stuff the rest of your piece into your mouth and brush the crumbs off of your fingers. "It's not big hot Latte, but it's nice and tasty all up in my mouth, so it'll do."
"I mean we can grab a Latte next time-" > Did you just say next time. Did you just imply you want to meet up like this again? Shit. > Stuff your mouth with Pizza real quick.
> Oh. > Oh... That makes yourr heart do the smiley emote. > You grin a liittle bit about that and you say, voice kinda soft, "Yeah... alright. I'd like that."
"Me too...I think." > If you don't hurt my boyfriend tonight that is, is what you think.
> Don't you worry, Sock. Not gonna hurt your boyfriend tonight. > You're not gonna be home, so Dave gets to go unhurt for another night.
> Or any other night Bro.(edited) > Or day, or ever:
> Well, at least you'll try to keep your cool when you talk to Dave about it later.
> That's a good start.
> Fuck yeah. Before you all finish up here, you nod back to the streets now lightly coat with snow. "You going back to your corner, right? You need a jacket?"
"I mean, I'll live..." > But it's pretty obvious that you don't have any especially warm clothes on you, you know like an idiot.
"Yeah, and you'll get sick, doofus." > You shrug off your jacket--it's a plain black windbreaker, while you wait for your city issue polcie jacket to come in--and you ball it up, handing it over to him. "Here."
> You open your mouth to respond but the Jacket is already in your hands. Oh. That's..Oh. > Is that what it's like to have a caring older brother? "Thanks..." > The Jacket is far too big for you and smells like Bro. It's a weird feeling to put it on. Like a hug you can wear. > Your heart is doing several emotions.
"Hey, no sweat. No good to go out there to work if you're just gonna freeze to death, yeah?" > You have the server bring you all a box for the leftovers, and you give those to him, too. > You stand from the stand and stretch. "Alright, my lunch is about over. You ready to go?
"Uh, yeah." > You are still trying to sort your feelings over all of this. It's weird. It's nice. > It's what you wanted all along. > Except for the part where you are scared about Dave. > You get up too feeling like a huge fool.
> You, very very carefully, put your hand on his back and lead him out back into the cold. > Look to him, then to your car. "Back to tthe same corner? Or you got anywhere else you need to be?"
> You tense up just a little at the touch but let it happen anyways. "Y-yeah same place." > You just get into the car quickly to cut off the awkward moment. Not without putting on your seatbelt of course.
> Always seatbelt first, kid! > You buckle in and drive him back to the street corner you found him on, putting the car into park but not getting out. "Alright. Don't get into any trouble, alright? Oh, and patrol comes past here in about 30 minutes, so be cool when they pass, yeah?"
"Oh uh..Okay. See you, I guess." > You wave an awkward goodbye, overwhelmed by a lot of conflicting emotions.
> You're about to drive off, but then you open the door and, hanging halfway out, you call to him, "Hey! Love you, Sock."
> That just leaves you starring for a moment. Did he just-? Does he? What. Can not compute. "L-Love you too Bro..." > You are not sure if he heard that with the way you mumbled that. You are not sure if you want him to or not. > It's only getting weirder. > But it also warms your birdy little heart.
> You heard it--you've actually got pretty good hearing still, despite all tthatt music and shit. > You smile and wave again before ducking back into your car and driving off.
> The patrol driving by half an hour later doesn't find a drug dealer, just a crying kid in some back alley. > This absolutely kills the bird.

Let’s Talk about Wasted Potential!
(Let’s talk Scrappy Doo)
I know, I know... It’s Scrappy Doo...
I’m going to put most of this under a read more so those who just want to avoid anything Scrappy can avoid it...
So first of all... I actually like Scrappy. Not love him like I used to(I mean seriously, he was always my favourite character after Daphne as a kid...) but I still like him well enough. And I think that’s partially(or mostly really) because I grew up with the Scrappy Cartoons being aired mixed with the other series. So sometimes he was there, sometimes he wasn’t... and he was there kind of from the start... even when he wasn’t... If that makes any sense.
Also I never watched any of the Live Action movies... so I don’t know how that’s made an impact or not...
So... anyway...
Why am I talking about the one character hated by everyone? Well, because I just really, really need to get this off my chest. And because as I basically declared in the title of this post... We need to talk about the wasted potential here. Okay, I’m sure some of you are confused, because really? What potential does or did Scrappy have and well honestly...
He had a fair bit in the beginning.
ISSUES:
The issue is, well, more noticeable in rewatch than it was at the time I originally watched the series, because again for me he was there sometimes and other times wasn’t, but he was a character who I understood as part of the show and the gang from the beginning. Again, the issues with Scrappy are more noticeable now, in rewatch than they were back then, since well, first episode of Scooby and Scrappy is kind of... HE’S THERE! No build up, no explanation, he’s just there...
To be fair, that’s not exactly a bad thing... I mean, it’s certainly not something that’s uncommon for older cartoons, to just suddenly introduce a new character and not explain them.
At the very least Scrappy’s inclusion was explained in the startup... For what little that’s worth...
So that’s issue number one I guess, his introduction wasn’t exactly the best.
Issue two, and this one is actually an issue that I myself have with him, because wow. On rewatch this is painful, Scrappy is a character with a tendency to be shoved in and included in plots where he is absolutely, 100% unnecessary! No but seriously, he is not necessary in quite a few of the plots that he’s included in, the most egregious examples being in the movies. Especially Reluctant Werewolf... and Boo Brothers, I actually somewhat enjoyed his parts in Ghoul School for myself... even if they were kind of superfluous... but still. In Ghoul School he wasn’t really jumping in unnecessarily(or at least not as much).
He just doesn’t need to be in the movies, and honestly without him... the plot wouldn’t have changed. Well, not too much...
No seriously!
But anyway, the issue really is... They started inserting Scrappy into places he really didn’t belong, and he basically ended up as yet another one of those characters who kind of overstayed his welcome. It’s happened before, it will happen again... but Scrappy is one of the more notable ones(followed by freaking Tuffy from Tom & Jerry). In small doses, Scrappy is nice, but constantly, and inserted in places he doesn’t belong like the movies, well... He quickly brings scenes down, and kind of wears on you.
Also, how often he was used to resolve a plot that the other characters should be able to solve on their own... Especially with all the clues in Boo Brothers... Like you really want to sell Scooby and Shaggy as that oblivious to word play and puns? Feels off...
Issue Three! And another one that I have with him... More in hindsight that anything else. WHERE THE HELL IS Scrappy’s Self Preservation INSTINCT?!
No seriously! Where the hell is it?
Nowhere? Dead, gone, buried and forgotten.
I mean, seriously. The moment something spooky and scary appears, Scrappy is always “Let me at ‘im, Let me at ‘im!” and of course his other catchphrase... “Dada da da da dada! Puh-Puppy Puh-Power!” yeah... I am not exactly a big fan of his attack all the spooky and scary things.
Just seriously, I know that kids like to puff themselves up, and pretend to be braver than they are... but Scrappy isn’t pretending. He just doesn’t understand danger, and is constantly go getter, and with zero sense of safety and preservation instinct... As a result, it’s really, really annoying to watch him charge into a dangerous situation and have to be grabbed, stopped all the time.
Which is just... bothersome you know.
I mean... he does sometimes seem to pick up that something is wrong... but 90% of the time... nope. No self-preservation at all.
What they Done Right:
Scrappy’s relationship with Scooby.
No but seriously, if there is one thing that they got right, at least for the most part, it was the relationship that Scrappy had with Scooby. It was obvious that Scrappy adored and idolized Scooby, and Scooby clearly cared for his nephew Scrappy. That was not something that you could pretend wasn’t there.
I mean, most of the times that someone was grabbing Scrappy to stop him from getting into trouble, it was usually Scooby. Also, Scrappy was able to make Scooby show some bravery on occasion. And without the use of Scooby Snacks, just with words. But seriously. As much as they did mess up with Scrappy, I adored the dynamic that there was with Scrappy and Scooby.
I just wish there were more down low moments when they were just interacting with one another...
And even the rest of the gang.
Also, on this subject, I loved Scrappy interacting with Shaggy most of the time as well. Even if it was slightly less well handled. And to a more minor degree, Scrappy’s interactions with Daphne. I just... really like the relationships that they gave him alright. Because it was one of the things that they managed to mostly not screw up.
Secondly...
And this is more... kind of meta wise. Scrappy was actually a good idea. Introducing him to the show anyway. Despite what your opinion is, Scrappy was thrown in as an attempt to save the show... And like him or hate him... He did. He saved the show...
Also, he was pretty entertaining in the beginning. A new element. And he brought in a new perspective. He’s the “young” character. A tagalong kid. And in all honesty...
That brings me to the next thing that they done right.
Scrappy is a good kid character!
His flaws are striking for sure, but, he is a good character in the sense that he fulfils his purpose. And he actually feels like a kid. At least, when he’s not obviously really, really dense and with zero self-preservation instinct. Although, there were a couple of moments where he sounded a bit more mature than a kid... but for the most part. There’s another positive.
And yes... that’s where most of his more annoying traits come from... He’s a child. And he doesn’t have the self-control and maturity to stop himself from doing stupid things... also... well, he talks a lot. But well, it works. And I personally can say that they did it right... even if it’s probably the thing that makes him such a problem in the first place...
So yeah...
What’s the Missed Potential?
Now, let’s actually get to the point of this whole rant/babble thing. What’s the missed potential with Scrappy.
Well...
For one thing. If they were going to have Scrappy have no self-preservation instinct the way that they did... They should have done more with it! They should have let him get into trouble, they should have had him getting himself in over his head, and back stepping sometimes, needing help and calling for it when he realized that he was in trouble... Or not even realizing it, and still yapping and yapping at the spooks, even though he’s in serious trouble.
They should have pushed that a little bit more. Also, on those occasions when he ran in, and attacked whatever, he should have done little to nothing to help at all. Instead it should have been making things worse. Because he’s a child, and has no idea of the danger...
Or they could have taken his bravado and talk in another direction. He talks big, but at heart is just another scared puppy like his Uncle Scooby. That could have worked as well. Although, considering the formula... well, would have made things a bit harder to make it fresh if you just add another cowardly running character, even if it is one who is all bark, no bite. And honestly Scrappy’s scrappy nature fits.
Secondly, let’s have a few more childish moments you know. I mean, as much as I praise them for making him a child and feeling like a child... he wasn’t really that childish... He had his moments, but they weren’t obvious in your face, and they were somewhat rare on top of that. If you’re going to make a kid character, one of the things that you need is to include them being a child. Scrappy should have thrown tantrums at times, been demanding on occasion and want things that he wouldn’t necessarily be allowed... and I don’t just mean in regards to him fighting the spooks that the gang was chasing.
Where was the demands for sweets and treats? The demands to play a game, or for a specific story or comic? A certain music station while they were in the van/car travelling around? Also, he should have been running around a little bit more excited, curious and exploring. While he still feels like a child and acts like one... he’s got a lot of failures in this aspect. Also... honestly there should have been more of him trying to get Scooby to beat up the bad guys in this regard.
Since adoring child with an Uncle who busts bad guys and solves mysteries for a living...
Major missed opportunity there.
Third... They should have made the first episode a proper introduction and explained things properly. Why was Scrappy there? I mean, I think that there is an explanation episode somewhere? Maybe? Anyway... they should have established the Scooby and Scrappy series by EXPLAINING Scrappy’s presence. I mean gosh, for a reference, a cartoon that I happen to love, that only came out a decade or so after Scrappy knew at least that you had to establish changes to the status quo!
Sure they done it in the first episode of each season that they introduced the change but still...
Missed opportunity! Especially because can you imagine that dynamic? With Scrappy brand new and the gang attempting to do their usual thing. And no one is quite used to Scrappy yet? That would have been something you know. Even if the rest of the series continued the formula of vague continuity is vague... You know.
Fourth... Maybe they could have toned down the focus on him... Also, take him out of those particular episodes and movies that he really doesn’t need to be in. The spotlight is something that is best shared after all. And while Scrappy is a fun addition to the cast, the biggest issue could have been resolved had they just not put him in everything. He didn’t need to be in everything and somewhat center stage, the real issue is that he’s a one puppy spotlight-stealing squad. Really.
This could have been fixed by making the episodes slightly longer than seven minutes... I mean really? Really? That’s... actually one of the biggest things that harms the series, each episode is so quick, it doesn’t leave much spotlight for anyone... I mean at least the regular episodes have a twenty to thirty minute runtime you know... So they could have I dunno, made them longer so that there was more time to actually use all the characters. Also, give the watcher some small breather scenes amongst all the chaos.
But still, focus issue.
Fifth, tone down the catch-phrase slinging. I mean, I get it, pretty much everyone in Scooby Doo had their one or two catch-phrases... but when that catch-phrase is said once or even twice in every episode and each episode is only seven minutes long... it gets old... Really, REALLY quickly. Also on this topic... Tone down the dialogue for Scrappy in general.
Like Tuffy the mouse from Tom and Jerry(especially in the movies) when Scrappy starts talking He. Does. Not. Stop. And it’s so, so annoying. Like come on! He doesn’t have to talk that much. And if he did have to talk that much then you should have called him Yappy. But seriously, tone down on the dialogue dude.
Also on that note, give him an accent like his Uncle! Come on guys! Was that so hard to do? Did he need to be so fluent? He’s still a canine! He should have had a bit of an accent because of how hard it would be to pronounce things with a muzzle.
Sixth, let’s be honest here, they should have had more episodes with the whole gang included! Just really, Scrappy’s flaws are not that big a deal when there are more characters to interact with and to share the spotlight with.
Also honestly, I just feel that it’s a missed opportunity that we never really saw how Scrappy properly interacted with Fred and Velma. We saw him a lot more with Daphne in 13 Ghosts, and that was nice you know. Also... another thing about that. 13 Ghosts actually toned him sown somewhat, and since the focus wasn’t constantly or semi-constantly on him, we got a break. It was pretty fantastic.
Finally, let’s just get this one done, because it’s more a nit-pick than anything else... but they should have designed him on all fours like the rest of his family.
Okay but seriously, why is he always on his hind legs standing up the way he is? It just kind of bugs me, alright.
In Conclusion:
Like him, Hate him! He’s a character I see potential in, and whenever I get around to writing some fanfiction that I have on the backburner, he will likely be included. But done right. Well, as “right” as he can be.
Hopefully people will find him annoying in a more annoying bratty child way, than a scrapper and spotlight stealer who should just go away way.
So yeah, I’m done.
#Scooby Doo#Scrappy Doo#I know he's one of the most hated characters in animation#But I still have a soft spot for the little scrapper#so...#Here's my reasoning on how he has missed potential#And a small hint of how I'm fixing him#THybrid Meddles#THybrid SD

hey ive been trying to figure out how to do this for awhile and since some anons have asked im gonna try 2 articulate my feelings about f*nn and this is not going to be very polite and im sorry, its nothing personal and if you have a perspective on him that i dont its fine and i absolutely get you and im glad you can enjoy that! i just wanted to try and work through how the fuck i feel about him and this is ultimately a pretty personal post and not a Manifesto on How F*nn Is Bad (i dont think he is, particularly, ftr), so like, if youre not interested which I CANNOT FAULT YOU FOR AT ALL, just know that its cool to go on! this isn’t trying to start shit or anything, i genuinely dont want to, im just writing this for Me, basically. its alright.
thanks thats the intro done okay take care i love u
what...does f*nn have even. he’s good in the ring but he’s surrounded by people who are better. he doesn’t have a character. what motivates him? what the fuck is he even fighting for? what is his personality, even? he absorbs the storylines of everyone around him in any feud he does too often for him to be as underdeveloped as he is and yet we are here and WHY???
i mean. apollo. let’s look at apollo! apollo is similarly kinda underdeveloped character-wise and most of who he is comes from who he is irl, and people don’t really play characters up irl! but like. it’s not glaring in the same way f*nn is, because
1) apollo got called up SUPER SUPER EARLY in nxt where f*nn had YEARS to develop a character and still holds a spot as longest reigning nxt champion, and
2) apollo plays a support role! he’s not a main event player (which is fucking criminal in and of itself but thats another issue) and him being underdeveloped+not as fleshed out lends itself pretty well to him supporting people however they need support at the moment. it’s not Ideal but it works well for who he is in the context of story stuff, which is not the case for f*nn
(also 3 secretly but apollo’s moveset is actually really varied and interesting which f*nn’s is...not but that’s a subjective thing obviously lol)
like. f*nn is just. such a nothing of a wrestler. i’m sorry but genuinely i don’t know or understand what there is there. he doesn’t have a character besides...vagueing people on twitter until he gets what he wants and yes okay i know that’s not an entirely true unbiased thing to say and im sorry but also i dont think im exactly Wrong
(also about vaguing people on twitter i know that has something to do with how bad his 2017 booking was, i WON’T deny that, and multiple people are booked badly in dubya at once and they all deserve more than that, but also f*nn’s the only person who really got any rage on his behalf as far as i’ve seen and it’s definitely affected my feelings about that)
the only thing he’s got going for him is a storied history in new japan, which itself feels lacking in the ring, and which honestly...gets...a lot more credit than deserved (and mostly SOLO credit at that)? he DID create the bullet club but his bullet club was essentially an entire stable of Foreigner Heels. cheap heat. any story he told (and i only know that there was apollo 55, im unaware of any other feuds, so bear that in mind) feels so...like...secondary to that of anyone he worked with. he could be a support role and get away with being the white bread he is but GOD FORBID that should happen, and so he just engulfs the story of anyone around him and does nothing and it’s just
it’s disappointing and its boring and exhausting to see him get shot after shot after shot doing the same thing over and over again because He Can. i have nothing much against him, i think he’s petty and petulant and very...self-absorbed, like, not in an entirely bad way but in the sense that he buys a lot of his own hype? and its...off-putting. i don’t know him personally though obviously, that’s just how i feel about him based on what ive seen, but like, as a person, its whatever. i just can’t stand him as a wrestler or a character. he’s generic and unmotivated and so. NOTHING and it’s exhausting to watch and try to make something meaningful and enjoyable out of. especially juxtaposed with the miz rn, and even with s*th, who i hate but who at least HAS a personality even if it’s a genuinely awful one
not even going into the fan reception of f*nn vs anyone else who’s more deserving and interesting than he is, lmao, i’m bitter as anything about how f*nn is treated compared to the cruiserweights because NATURALLY and OBVIOUSLY i’m biased, you all know this, i don’t deny it, i cant say this comparison is all the way fair when im so so so FUCKING cwuisewweights, but like, the reaction to f*nn getting Beachballed vs any of the 205 dudes getting Beachballed was so heartbreaking in how much More he gets just for the name he’s got
i don’t know. i don’t know. i just think he’s such a nothing of a character, surrounded by people (taguchi, joe, kevin, hideo, FUCK IT, even s*th or like, fucking, KENNY, or the young bucks, or ANYONE) who really care about the character and story they have against him, and instead of being relegated to a supporting role where he’d be like, Worth anything, he’s thrust into whatever title picture or main event there is because He’s F*nn B*lor and it’s so...so much less talked about or acknowledged and for the life of me i don’t understand why. i don’t know what it is im missing
again, i don’t have much against him as a person, i personally don’t like how he acts but he doesn’t seem Proublematique in any way beyond...the foreigner heel stuff which is inherently built in anti-japan sentiment EVEN THOUGH that is strictly kayfabe afaik (though he does fucken. support the special olympics and did some Cool Trendy Straitjacket Entrances as prince nevitt and that is a very VERY personal thing i have against him) i guess that’s what matters. i just. ugh. im over it
i appreciate him being vocally supportive of queer fans but i don’t owe him for that and i still think it sucks that he, a (as far as i know) straight white dude, is getting the platform to do that instead of people who are actually queer and out in the same company. sonya isn’t getting this chance, and more blatantly, darren never got that chance. despite having the block the hate movement, and despite the fact that his coming out is what got him a face turn while it was ENTIRELY and COMPLETELY unacknowledged in the canon universe of wwe proper. like, i guess that’s not f*nn’s fault but there’s a common trend of men of color being pushed down to boost him up and it’s not the best. i don’t think that’s all his fault but i don’t like it
again this isn’t like, denouncing Liking F*nn, its fine! this isnt decrying everything about him, i don’t wanna fight about this, and if you like finn, sincerely i’m glad you can find something there to like and i hope you’re having a good time with him! and to boot i really DON’T know much about anything he did before dubya, and so i could very well be wrong about everything. like, calling the gullet blub just a Cheap Heat Stable? that interpretation could be and probably is wrong. i know that, and i know that’s probably gonna affect how i feel abt him, but also god i do not care even a bit enough to learn and i would rather die than look at pr*nce nevitt/gullet blub anything
i dont know. i hope this didnt come off as.......TOO shitty, i know this is a stupid and mostly impenetrable post, its alright, this is just me trying to work through this for myself and i promise its not like...a huge thing. thats all! thats all. im sorry if i worded this weird at all and i know my perspective isnt the best or most informed on this, but also i am very very tired of f*nn and i don’t think that’s an unfair thing to say
#long post -#rude - probably#im trying to work this out in words this isnt an overarching Anything i promise it is ultimately just a personal thing#i dont really wanna talk about it anymore im sorry this post is literally incomprehensible but here it is i guess#i really do not want to start anything or fight about this i worded it badly and i know that and im sorry#i just. dont like him! i just dont. im allowed to do that right#im sorry im gonna lie down for a bit or something. tonights been a dumpster fire over here#and im really sorry i need to work harder on this im so sorry for complaining so much#i know its obnoxious and it doesnt matter and i shouldnt be putting it up here or anywhere! ill try to improve at that

Technical Shoot Evaluation
Long Shot – When using a long shot in filmography, the audience can see all of the focus of the shot, as well as much more of what is going on in the mis-en-scene. This often includes a full body shot (heads to toe) of a person, but without exposing too much of their surroundings, otherwise it would be classified as a further away shot. This emphasizes their appearance, without too much detail but a better overview of them. This enables the audience to have a good starting basis of the scene, where normally the camera would lead onto more specific close up shots of certain features in the scene. In terms of the usage of a long shot in my preliminary production, it will be frequent to introduce the work.
For any long shot, you should always be aware of good lighting. The shot normally has a lot going on in it (which explains a little more distance on the focus) that you can’t afford for something to go missed. Similarly, if there is too much going on, it is easy for someone to not concentrate on the fact you’re filming, or for standards to slip. The more happening in the shot, the more careful analysis of the shot needs to be taken into account.
Medium Shot – A medium shot narrows the audience’s perspective, and has a more direct focus. This creates a little more of an intimate understanding with the shot/character, where less of the surrounding is seen. This emphasizes more of what they look like, how the hold themselves etc. This means the audience are more drawn in, where as the shot narrows, they feel more of a direct connection with the focus, thus making the piece of film more appealing to watch. Similarly to a long shot, a medium shot will always be used throughout filming for a final product; it is a standard shot that has to take place for an audience to have a slight interest in.
Close Up – The whole point in putting a close up in place is to close in further into a shot, where almost nothing can take the attention of the audience other than the main focus. This is to make sure that smaller more delicate details are picked up on from the main focus, to further build the up what the audience already knows of the main focus. This often is where an audience would be most interested with the shot, simply because it is such a near perspective. This adds to the idea that they will be less inclined to be disinterested or distracted by the work.
Although, as a shot does become more narrowed, it is vital to make sure the least amount of unintentional shaking takes place. The camera is most likely going to be zoomed in therefore it can easily pick up any slight movement. It makes the standard of the work look less high, which can sometimes lead to an audience losing interest they have.
Extreme Close Up – This is the upmost intimacy that the audience can have with the focus of the shot, where all minuscule details are noted. This obviously leads to the peak in the viewers interest, where the shot is normal tense or trying to really connect the audience with the small features. I would ensure to use this sort of shot in my preliminary production to contrast any long shot I have as well as changing up the standard long or medium shot that a vast majority of filmography. It’s simple but effective!
Although, the clarity of the shot has to be far more intense and accurate. There would be no point in trying to connect the audience with a really zoomed shot, when in actual fact there is nothing detailed for them to be drawn in to notice.
High Angle – The use of a high angle exaggerates the size of the main focus, where the audience then gain an omniscient perspective of the character. This can often then suggest their status or reaction to what else can be seen in the mis-en-scene. If I was to use this in my preliminary production, I would make sure that the angle has proper height on it, to introduce to the setting to my audience. The only potential issue that could come from trying to achieve a realistic image from this shot would the shot could be difficult to get good height on, let alone trying to put any movement with the shot at such a height.
Straight Angle – A straight angle is frequently used throughout filmography, where the perspective we see of the focus is direct and to the point, with no alterations of the angle the camera is held. This tells the audience that what they can see is obvious or should be closely examined. This often leads to the audience taking in information about the character in a much clearer way. In terms of my preliminary production, I’m sure I will be using this angle very frequently as I think it is a basic but effective view of what we can see is going on throughout the shot.
Low Angle – When using a low angle to emphasize the focus of the shot, the subject of what we can see in the shot is seen as ‘higher up’. This can further be suggestive of the status of the character, where they have more power than the audience or even as someone else in the shot also. It works as an opposite to a high angle where the main focus seems small and in a large space; we as the audience are now feeling looked down upon, feeling smaller. I’d only think of using low angle in my final piece if there was more than one character present, where I could make a definitive difference between two people status wise. Although, I do also think that the use of low angle sometimes expresses the tension of a shot, by making the setting look bigger and more intense to overcome, in which the character is place right in the middle of.
Canted Angle – I’ve always thought a canted angle suggests a broken or scary scene. Having the camera at such an angle implies that something isn’t okay because it’s not very common to have the camera at an angle. It’s not very common to see in film, which as the story might go, it’s not common for the character to feel scared or broken either; it’s all about trying to relate the camera to the character, to therefore make the audience relate to the characters emotions. Depending on what I am planning on basing my preliminary piece on, this could potentially be used although it might not necessarily suit the style of what I go for.
Tracking – Tracking creates the effect being very close to a character, almost is a stalking way to really get to grip with who they are and how they carry themselves, as well as the way that other people react to their presence.
Panning - Panning is a simple way in which to show your audience the setting and what is involved in the shot. Often, the shot doesn't doesn't focus in on something specific in a pan, but more of generalised overview of the setting. The only issue we were faced with whilst trying to film was maintaining focus for all of those who were in the shot, trying to make them resist the erge to face towards the camera, although it clearly wasn't as easy as that.
Crabbing – When filming a crabbing movement, you have to maintain the same level throughout as well as make sure it’s smooth and well executed, similar to a pan. This particular movement is done to make the audience have a sense of watching them from sideways on, in one sense as if you’re peering in on the scenario they’re in. It, yet again, is a type of way that the audience can further build up an intimate connection with the focus.
Tilting Up/ Down – This gradual reveal of the main focus works in the same way as a low angle but as the audience, it feels more as though the focus is actually looking down on us, as if we were smaller or of a lower status. Similarly, a tilt down is more of a showing off of the focus rather than representing a higher status. When they are done at a slower pace, it is meant to make the audience really observe details.
Craning- This shot is a birdseye view to begin with that eventually leads up and out onto a new perspective by either turning the camera to a view. This enables the perspective to be broadened for the audience, where they see the 'bigger picture'.
Crash Zoom In/Out - A crash zoom is almost a more comical zoom, where the audience are given a very sudden change or view of the main focus, to a far more precise. The only issue that we were faced with when trying to pull this off was making sure that the focus of the camera remained once zoomed in accurately.
Zoom In/Out - A zoom slowly broadens or narrows the audiences perspective of the shot, where it is clear that the focus is shifting. The audience are meant to learn more or less about the scenario. I think that this will be used frequently in my preliminary film; it is a simple camera movement that establishes a lot about the narrative for the audience.
Overall, the whole technical shoot helped me boost my understanding of camera movements and the way in which the camera works for filming. It was a starting point for a new A Level Media Studies student, where I managed to pick up a tonne of skills that are perfect for the area of the course I am most exciting to explore.

Episode 140
Honorable mentions:
Can’t believe Evie’s power is literally light.
“Who said I was joking”
That panel of Sera, Evie, and Roland standing together, all beat up was powerful
Seraphina really about to start that low-tier revolution with all the people she’s inspiring these days.
Are John and Sera even like close anymore? I mean I know obviously they are, but neither looked for the other at lunch and Sera’s just been hanging out with Evie.
Does sera know about Blyke?
Im super confused because at the end of the episode, you know that black and white list thing of people that Joker has attacked? Well I’m pretty one is meant to be blyke but its a screenshot of john from when he was trying to find seraphina i think??? Idk. just threw me off.
Did I miss something? Is Cecile a higher rank than Remi??
Parallels:
I think that Seraphina’s is slowing turning into John’s when he first arrived at Wellston. First, Seraphina was the most powerful and feared by all at her school (like John was at New Bostin), then losing her abilities (whereas John pretended his were gone), and now fighting back against the high-tiers without powers. I think the whole story of UnOrdinary is just recycling itself and reusing plot points and character development. Lots of the miny arcs/events are coming full circle. And I am in awe because of it. Complete awe.
Uru-chan is showing us comparisons of the characters by putting them in similar situations and letting us see how differently they react. She could also be foreshadowing the futures of some characters. If we see Arlo acting like John (old John), which I mean he has, then it could be possible that the same thing will happen to Arlo that happened to John. I mean it’s pretty obvious that Joker is going to take over Wellston’s hierarchy, but now because of the comparisons, We’re not sure if Arlo’s just going to fall back into his place as jack and obey John, or if he is going to take down John like John did at New Bostin to the lower-tiers trying to take him down. On that note, John’s storyline has come pretty full circle too. Maybe he’ll repeat history and Joker will be taken down by the whole student body. Nothing is definite, but don’t you guys want that? I would absolutely die if this happened because of the foreshadowing, because we’re seeing a character live through this life-changing event that we already saw impact someone and completely change their personality. It builds suspense because we know how the initial event/arc ended for the first person and who’s to say that character two won’t suffer the same fate. By giving some characters similar storylines, uru-chan is giving us that ‘what if everything that happened happens again.’I don’t know what I’m trying to say. Mostly that the parallels in this story show incredible storytelling abilities, which is the entire reason why UnOrdinary is my absolute favorite webtoon. The. storytelling.
But yeah, back to the comparison about Seraphina and John, her mindset right now is very similar to the one we saw from John at the beginning of the series. She feels that it unfair to have to fight up against the higher-tiers. Her inner thoughts in this week’s episode are, “So this is it...? I only have two options? Either let myself be beaten now or be beaten later. It’s not fair.” This sounds so much like John, who, in the beginning, was always complaining to Seraphina about how his life was constantly at risk because of the high-tiers. Not only that, but Seraphina fights back against the higher-tier, just like John did. I’ll be sure to try to remember to continue these similarities in their characters while reading future episodes also. Comments any if I missed some I guess, but i think I covered pretty much everything here and at the top of this section.
John and low-tiers:
In this episode, we learn from Evie and Roland that John hasn’t really been treating the low-tiers the best. He’s been giving off bad vibes, ignoring them, and acting condescending. This sounds really weird to hear because, honestly, it seems like John is, or at least was, the saving grace of the low-tiers. He used to beat up the high-tiers that were bullying low-tiers and is doing pretty much exactly what Seraphina is doing now. So why aren’t these low-tiers recognizing him for that? Why do they associate John with such negative traits when most of what we’ve been shown has been John fighting for the low-tiers?
I was surprised when the low-tiers said this. I can’t remember seeing any evidence in the comic. This could be either my bad memory or the author really only gave us the bits of John’s day that progressed the plot and worked on his character. But honestly for such a big character flaw, for uru-chan to just try to fit in that John was also an arrogant ass even when he was trying to be nice was kind of strange. I really hope I am forgetting instances of us seeing John look down on low-tiers because if not, I really can’t just accept this as perspective tunnel vision or what not, I’m sorry uru-chan. Anyways. I was a lil surprised.
I just thought this was an interesting choice to make because it’s not really character development now that John’s personality has completely changed again. I do like that the characters are referencing some flaws that we might not have seen because it was from John’s point of view, but like I said, can’t really accept. I just want to know where uru-chan is going with this. There’s not exactly much I can speculate about because everything said was pretty straight forward. Somehow, John was enough of an ass to everybody that they didn’t see past that to his good moments. Not really important for him. Maybe for the low-tiers (Evie and Roland) because now there’s an excuse for John not to teach them. I hope uru-chan didn’t just put this in here for that, but honestly who am I to tell her what to write. She’s the master storyteller so I’ll just hope she’ll work her magic again and work everything out.
John and Cecile:
Once again, their character dynamic and chemistry astounds me. This pairing has been my favorite of the whole comic. The underhanded joke, yet the threat it really held beneath this episode. So. Good. And the prospect of a fight? Yesss. I don’t even know how it’s going to go. WIll Cecile and John just pretend to fight so it looks like she got beaten up or will they have a genuine fight, severing their alliance? I don’t know! And that is the exact reason why I love them so much. I never know how they’ll react to each other. For having such great scene chemistry, I can’t really predict what will happen. God they’re great. And I had to made this a proper section because this is important stuff kay. These two deserve more than a lousy bullet point up top.
