the gorgug-porter conversation is interesting to me because like. yea for the overwhelming majority of the conversation porter’s being shitty & trying to fit gorgug into a box that gorgug just does not fit into by trying to make gorgug’s relationship with his rage more focused on the aggression aspect of it. but then there’s also this specific thing that brennan brought up again in the ap, which is that gorgug’s relationship with his rage is wholly “this is a tool i use to protect my friends.” which isn’t a bad thing! but that’s his Whole relationship with it, & gorgug seems to place next to no value on his rage in relationship to himself. which is problematic, because it’s first & foremost his rage.

being raised in a household with a sort of toxic positivity largely meant that, whether or not it was his parents’ intention, gorgug internalized the message that more traditionally “negative” emotions such as anger are the wrong response to something. part of the reason he prioritizes his artificing is probably because it’s “fixing” things. in comparison to being a barbarian, which gorgug associates with “breaking” things. good vs. bad behavior, in his eyes.

it’s a totally unacceptable bar to measure a 16 y/o by, but i do think part of porter’s reasoning for not letting gorgug multiclass is him recognizing that gorgug generally does not value anger as a valid emotional response to something, at the very least for himself. & that directly conflicts with what being a barbarian is, because whether you like it or not, that rage is what fuels you. but again, barring a kid from pursuing something they deeply care about in part (not entirely, porter has a lot of more bullshit reasons) because of their fundamental values & world outlook is crazy.

so yes, 98% of porter’s reasoning is pretty shitty, immature, rife with a toxic view that there’s only one proper way to access rage, & generally not a good thing to do as a teacher, but also within that reasoning is the 2% of ‘there is a fundamental part of yourself that you only value if you can use it to take care of other people & you need to accept that as something that can take care of you, too.’ but that’s something to discuss with a therapist or a guidance counselor, not something that should hugely impact gorgug’s academic future.

I name all of my snake plants after Baltimore Orioles players because...I don't know why I do that.....anyway Adley (she/her pronouns according to my parents) and Adam Jones are making the trip with me but Chris Davis is TOO BIG FOR THE CAR and I'm so sad now. That was my emotional support snake plant through my FMLA leave. He has seen the worst of me (mental illness, forgot to water him for a month) and survived. Now he's like four feet tall and I have to leave him behind because he is so big that he takes up more than a third of my luggage space in the car 🥲 I took such good care of him that now he has to live independent of me. Goodbye Chris Davis I will think of you fondly as I encourage Adley to grow big and strong.

I kinda like the whole sorcerer!gale idea. I don’t have it as a headcanon bc, personally, I just think he was a super fucking nerd as a kid and decided reading magic textbooks was fun so he ended up casting spells quite early and not by accident like a magical bloodline sorc would (I think??).

But I like thinking of a sorc!gale au. It’s really funny and even a bit sad. I genuinely don’t know how someone with a sorcerer bloodline who trains as a wizard would work. I’d think his bloodline would either be very weak or he simply doesn’t have the charisma to control the sorc magic (sorry gale. your charisma is NOT high enough to multiclass into sorc).

#sorc gale au I think maybe he accidentally taps into sorc magic post orb/worm because the orb maybe cuts him off from his wizard training #in some way #and the magic feels different bc it’s sorc magic but he thinks it’s because the orb has permanently corrupted #and changed his ability to channel the weave #and he’s quite a bit weaker not only because of the orb consuming his wizard abilities but because #he never trained his sorcerer abilities #like an artist who can draw in pencil trying to learn how to paint #it’s a different skill set #I also like the alternative idea that the sorcerer magic had been supplementing him the entire time #but the orb consumed it #but that kind of downplays how powerful a wizard who properly studied can be I think #like ‘oh he was only a prodigy because he had sorc magic’ I think if it were that obvious he would have known #whereas if his bloodline was too weak to really be obvious early on and he just focuses on wizardry because he likes it #then it makes more sense to me #also. storm sorcery but post orb/worm wild magic #Len text

Trying to watch 999 let’s plays is such hell to me - NO ONE PLAYS THE GAME RIGHT just shutupshutupshutupshutup and play the game!! Stop trying to make jokes!!!!

I’m too autistic for this, I cannot bear hearing let’s players doing their own voice acting when I adore the game’s VAs too much. Everyone always fucks up Santa’s and Lotus’s voices especially.

I understand the draw of Let’s Plays are largely the people playing them who have gained their own following, but as someone who just loves the game I don’t wanna hear ur stupid banter 💥💥💥 play the game and be intrigued but not TOO intrigued because give it a fuckin minute it’ll explain what’s going on 🙄‼️

#i have once again logged out of most social media on my phone (still logged onto pinterest for art ref stuff)#my mental state has been rather iffy the last week or so #just some stuff that made the death of my friend last year fresh & even more painful. i'm glad i found out. it's good but bittersweet stuff #but yeah. it's not been fantastic and social media is just not good for helping one's mental health improve #i was finding myself on my phone waaaay too much. so i logged off #so yeah. if i'm super slow to respond to anything it's because my ipad and laptop are now my channels of communication for online friends #(except for the peeps who have my cell number of course)#on the bright side. i edited two chapters of my book this morning #last night was rough. so i made the decision to force myself to get up early and not sleep in. so worth it #i'm turning into a morning person. i need people right now and there aren't people when you stay up past everyone else's bedtime.#the ramblings of a dragon #my cousin has tomorrow off tho. so he and i are going into the city to visit a ttrpg/game store.#i told him last week that i was struggling with being lonely & he's been really good about inviting me to his place or coming over to hang #i'm so grateful for him
