On the topic of the Crusch:IF: Arc 2, one of the ways Subaru quickly endears himself to the faction at large is by cooking them food. It’s the kind of work that he get really good at really quickly once he figures his way around the tools, and then he figures out how to make massive amounts of food all at the same time. Once he gets really good at it, he often finds himself offering to take over entirely so that the other staff can go help with the Fish problem. It’s a lot of work, and it often takes him hours and hours so he can’t do it every day, but he can do it when it seems like they need all hands on deck. (Their efforts to impress upon him the terror of the Whale are fruitless: Subaru doesn’t understand how a flying whale can be anything but ridiculous, no matter how much he tries to take it seriously anyway due to it being important to THEM.) (It becomes almost endearing after a while — and then almost a physical embodiment of a camp-wide goal. They’ll fight the Whale, and they’ll win, and sweet, stupid Subaru — alongside the rest of the common folk of Lugunica, for whom he is basically a standing representation — will never need to know the terror of fighting such a horrific beast.) Anyway, he gets really good at cooking good food for a good amount of people and he starts to really take pride in seeing others eat what he’s made. At first it’s just basic dishes, the things native to Lugunica that the other staff members patiently teach him over time, but soon he actually starts to use tactics from home to make stuff that they didn’t know how to do. Food that he finds nostalgic, and things that he can contribute that really are all his own. (The things he makes remind a couple of the others of Kararagi — but when they say the country’s name, he just thinks they sneezed.)

He makes snacks for people too, sometimes, if they come to him while they’re both off-duty. Mimi, Tivey and Hetaro take advantage of this to make Subaru make them something called “pancakes” in the morning — but secretly, so they don’t all get in trouble when someone (Julius) walks in to see them having dessert for breakfast again. Ricardo knows what he’s doing, but he think it’s funny seeing the four of them try to hide it with such guilty looks on their faces whenever he “accidentally” walks in just a bit too early. Ricardo is actually also someone who forces Subaru to cook for him a bit too often, maybe, but Subaru doesn’t mind nearly as much as he lets on, especially because Ricardo’ll sit and talk with him about his most recent missions (the ones with non-classified details) as he cooks. Ferris stops by pretty often too, and he gets a lot more sass than Ricardo does, but it’s really deserved with how he uses the opportunity to bully Subaru relentlessly. Joshua comes sometimes, too, but he never asks for anything directly — but the one time Subaru doesn’t make him anything he gets, like, visibly dejected. (He doesn’t ask next time either, but Subaru doesn’t wait for him to do so.) Julius comes by once or twice, but is actually pretty surprised when Subaru sets a bowl of Subaru-style tomato soup (a recipe from Japan) in front of him when he does: he really hadn’t expected to be served anything outside of mealtimes, but Subaru complains that he’d be insulting his hard work if he refused >:( Do you really wanna insult the chef, Julius. Do you. Crusch only comes once, and it’s when she’s absolutely exhausted and needs something to eat now. Subaru makes something good for her as fast as he can: she looks awful, but she looks much better once she’s eaten something (and once she’s had a conversation with someone who’s not constantly looking at her for directions, too, though he doesn’t pick up on that).

Wilhelm doesn’t stop by, even though Subaru kind of wishes he would: he still doesn’t have a very strong grasp of just how fond Wilhelm is of him and kind of (really) wants to prove himself to him in any way he can. This doesn’t really change, but as the weeks go by and Subaru gets more comfortable, he starts making meals and going to find Wilhelm himself whenever he sees that the old man skipped out on eating with everyone else in order to keep preparing for the whale fight.

He even knows their favorite dishes! He knows the triplets like sweets, especially pastries, as well as anything with bread — especially, in Mimi’s case, if there’s meat involved. Ricardo is similar in that regard, but he prefers smokier dishes than Mimi and her brothers do. He knows that Ferris hates fish, but likes poultry, and really loves peaches and other fruits. He knows Julius likes tomatoes, and Joshua does not no matter how much he tries to insist that he does. Crusch likes spicy food. Wilhelm…he doesn’t get a great read on Wilhelm, but he seems to prefer stew, maybe.

Subaru tries to get back into cooking for them all following the Whale fight — insists on it, even despite the others telling him to just rest for a bit — but his hands shake and he flinched away from things he didn’t used to be scared of at all. And his sense of taste is — gone: no matter how much spice he adds, he can’t taste a thing. The others get a very big surprise when they try to eat his dish and find it is practically inedible due to how much salt he added to the damn thing, and once they figure out that this was not on purpose, that he’s not just mad at them, they decide to ban him from the kitchen until further notice.

glitchybombs is my least favorite ship EVER outside of the actually fucked up ones like proships. im fine with any other ships, i mean i would rather not see ppl selfshipping with rob but i understand why they do that

first of all the age gap. sure 13 to 15/16 doesnt sound that bad but age-wise thats a middle schooler and a high schooler. BIG maturity difference

secondly they are NOT similar people. if you think they're similar people you have misunderstood one of them, probably rob. julius has a family and friends and a house and no apparent trauma in his life; but he bullies, fights, and manipulates other children, especially younger ones. rob has none of that except trauma and hes still a MUCH better person

they would definitely not get along well as the ship implies, if they ever interacted, julius and his friends would absolutely bully and manipulate rob. sure julius gets a little redemption but do these shippers even care about redemption? they dont seem to care about rob's, since the whole ship seems based on the idea they'd be "evil" together

oh yeah, they have NEVER interacted. i dont think they've even appeared on screen at the same time. you could at least have something in canon to support this awful pairing

why otto was pissed off at julius (also - otto might have developed Control Issues???) (another arc 8 otto theory/analysis)

so this is a sequel to my other post on why otto is so pissed off at subaru (arc 8 ch 24) which. yeah this says a lot about otto either way given ive now made more than one analysis post about why hes being a Pissbaby HAH but anyway.

i think ottos anger at julius is super fascinating bc it seemingly comes out of nowhere, but i think it makes sense upon first glance. julius straightforwardly breaks the hard cold truth to subaru about how louis Has to die. otto snaps at julius bc of what you assume to be either 1. otto doesnt agree with louis dying and/or 2. otto doesnt want julius to say this because itll upset subaru. but then theres the answer that otto gives, which is: otto doesnt want an outsider to the emilia camp interfering with this matter because it affects the emilia camp the most.

we know that reasons 2 (subaru will be upset hearing that louis will most likely have to die) and 3 (otto doesnt want someone outside of emilia camp interfering) are True. the latter is obvious because otto himself is being truthful when he states that, and the former is likely true due to otto snapping at julius after julius says that louis has to die right to subarus face after subarus tried to defend louis, showing that subaru cares deeply for her. otto snapping at julius reads partially, to me at least, as him trying to defend subaru with all the energy of covering the ears on a child so they dont hear something Bad.

but only two chapters after otto first snaps at julius we learn that not only does otto agree with julius on louis needing to be dead, but otto agrees to the point where hes withholding information in order for the emilia camp to remain suspicious of louis and so louis is more likely to die. so it’s interesting that the Only Reasons otto gives to julius on why otto does not want julius interfering with emilia camp are 1. you are an outsider to this matter and 2. you are my enemy. otto is specifically very hostile to julius and anastasia Even After julius apologizes for interrupting in emilia camp matters - and otto Still pushes forward to emphasize that he considers julius and anastasia enemies.

for someone as politically savvy as otto, it's Off-putting that he takes such a passionate position against both julius and anastasia when he knows that theyre not only subarus friends, but theyre also strong allies to the emilia camp who aided them in arc 6 and are loyal enough to follow them into vollachia. so why is otto being so hostile to them when, if anything, it's a Detriment to be so hostile to your own camps allies?

but theres also something else about julius - otto specifically notes that julius "walks in the light" just as emilia and subaru do. despite being beaten down by life, they still choose to hold onto their idealism and their genuine desire to save people. but otto also notes that - unlike emilia and subaru - julius draws the line at louis, and, just like otto, julius figures that louis has to die. which is absolutely not something that julius does on the regular (ex novel readers will remember that julius felt saddened by balleroy dying), and otto recognizes that julius's idealism vs his desire to end louis are in conflict with each other. subaru, at the moment, is at the extreme end of idealism - the desire to save Everyone and go against all odds. otto is, at this point, at the extreme other end - otto is pragmatic and not only doesnt believe that everyone can be saved, but otto doesnt believe that he can have everything he wants, so he has to prioritize. julius, meanwhile, is the in between - julius is a knight that serves a pragmatic merchant himself, and while he wants to save people, he wants to kill louis. he recognizes that louis dying is the cleanest outcome, with a suitable punishment for her actions, and for that reason it has to happen. otto seems uncomfortable by this because he sincerely believes that his path is the best one to take, even though it isnt necessarily morally right - meaning that he figures that he has to oppose subaru and emilia in order to move forward. but then julius comes along and challenges everything ottos thinking by being this blend of subaru and ottos beliefs.

but what is ottos path? otto wants everything to go the way that he plans, which may or may not align with emilia and subarus desires. otto wants it to align with the emilia camps desires because he cares for them and his loyalty to them dictates so much of his actions. but that same loyalty has been leading him to take increasingly excessive actions in the name of trying to keep them safe, both physically and politically, and in his head, keeping his camp safe doesnt Always align with what the rest of his camp wants. keeping his camp safe means doing so even at the cost of going behind his camp's backs. keeping his camp safe means that he's going to keep them safe even if they become upset at his actions.

thats because ottos had this small habit (thats been. steadily growing) of doing what he thinks is best with little to no communication with the rest of his camp. he saved roswaal's tome and kept it hidden from the rest of his camp for a year. he did this out of his continued wariness of roswaal and he plans to restore the book just to find the information in it - and once hes done that, he plans to destroy the book again so that it doesnt fall into the wrong hands. being suspicious of roswaal is understandable, but keeping the fact that he grabbed the tome secret for a year is Definitely a little sketchy. and it doesnt help matters that that same tome he brought into priestella lures the witch cult into the city.

on top of that, theres of course ottos scheming so that the emilia camp agrees to help vollachia in a way that He Wants, along with otto purposefully withholding information about louis. On Top of That, it's not just that ottos withholding information + wanting louis dead - those are already slightly questionable enough, but additionally otto is well aware that subaru cares deeply for louis. otto has not voiced his desire for louis to die and has hidden information that could help save louis's life. theres absolutely No Way that otto doesnt know that if/once louis dies, subaru will be Very distraught by this, but otto keeps going anyway out of pragmatism - out of the thought that subaru will have to eventually get over louis dying, because otto has weighed the possible costs and benefits in his head and hes decided that killing louis has less consequences even though itd deeply upset subaru. thats what walking in the dark means - otto will oppose subaru and emilia out of practicality, because what will actually keep them safe in ottos opinion might not align with what they actually want to do. ottos position in arc 8 thus far implies that hes willing to betray his friends if it means keeping them safe.

this is even more interesting when you bring up a certain quote from the bittersweet peddling trade log side story - otto notes: "But wouldn't I have nightmares if I forsook a person who has done nothing wrong?"

and what is he doing in arc 8? he tried to forsake almost, if not all 50 million people in vollachia. hes trying to forsake someone he knows is innocent now (louis). he's trying to save subaru, but at the same time hes forsaking subaru by withholding information that could potentially save louis. hes tried to forsake julius and anastasia in the sense that his words carry weight as internal affairs minister of the emilia camp and he just declared them - loyal allies to his camp -his enemies.

the thing is - otto is a hypocrite. in more ways than one. otto tells subaru to depend on his friends more in arc 4 - which was the Big Speech of arc 4 - only to turn around and do various things behind his own friends' backs in the name of trying to save them. only to turn around and announce julius and anastasia aka allies to his camp are Enemies. otto snaps at julius to back away as julius is an "outsider" - and while julius is an outsider in the sense that hes not part of emilia camp, everyone reading the novels knows that julius himself has been majorly fucked over by louis and therefore has more than earned the right to have a say in what happens to her. otto remains suspicious of roswaal, understandably, only to agree with todds tactics in arc 7 and make strategies himself (his Leaving Vollachia and only taking who you care about plan) that roswaal agrees with. otto is the one snapping back at roswaal and insisting that roswaals only telling him that opposing subaru and emilia is a poison that will Kill Him because roswaal wants otto to be less difficult and more Compliant so that roswaal can get up to his own schemes - as if otto himself isnt making his own schemes in his head. otto knows that things like his plan to ditch vollachia is callous and hurts innocent people, especially after seeing roswaal agree with his tactics, and he feels guilty for this. but he keeps going anyway, which will likely end up proving roswaal right. the roswaal + otto and todd + otto parallels are Extremely purposeful, especially with the vollachia saga (arc 7-8) where one of the themes is about whether you can truly save everyone without sacrificing morality.

julius might be the proof that there is some sort of middle ground between subaru and ottos worldviews and strategies. you can do unpleasant things that may need to be done while still remaining kind and trying to save as many as you can - instead of abandoning them.

but ottos been Excessively harsh to julius, anastasia, and even roswaal and subaru. getting so angry at someone that you punch a wall hard enough to break your hand not just once, but nearly twice, is Excessive, especially when subarus goal is ultimately just trying to save people. and i think you could also attribute ottos Harshness to the stress hes under right now. otto is - friendly reminder, hah - the same guy who gets anxious easily to the point where his stomach hurts. he gets anxious over paperwork. he gets anxious over his friends and their. lacking. negotiation skills. hes always been Very Loud in his complaints whenever they do things hes not happy with. he admits that hes lost weight because of stress at the BEGINNING of arc 5 (otto, im so sorry but you literally havent gone through all of arc 5+ yet). his drinking is also to cope with stress (our introduction to him in arc 3 is otto coping with his new debt by drinking in a bar). so - otto is Easily anxious. over a lot of things. by the time we get to arc 8, hes gone through a Lot to get here. and stress does Not look good on otto.

where do control issues stem from? yeah, ottos main motivator is to save his camp, but past that, hes tired of not having control. in ch 24 he questions himself - he questions his purpose and his existence and he comes to the conclusion that his meaning for existence is to oppose subaru. subaru, at his core, is all about exerting his will - he brute forces the outcomes he wants because of rbd.

otto, meanwhile, is left to be dragged into danger again and again. ottos life is already out of his control often because of his bad luck and because of his dp making life difficult for him in his formative years - and now hes been dragged into danger repeatedly the moment he got involved with subaru. arc 5 in particular, however, was partially a consequence of otto bringing the tome to priestella - but its a consequence that he didnt expect at all. ottos legs were injured severely by gluttony, leaving him out of commission with no choice but to watch subaru and some of their camp walk away to the watchtower to face more danger without otto being able to be there to make sure theyre safe (otto specifically tells subaru at the end of arc 5 that hes Very Unhappy with this decision). then otto has to go to vollachia to save rem and subaru, only to arrive there and realize that subaru wants to stay to help vollachia. otto goes - fine. if thats what you want, ill help. and then otto finds out that subarus trying to defend gluttony. otto, i think, has grown increasingly resentful of the danger he and his friends have been put in (which is a mix of factors Out of their Control, but its also just. his friends sometimes deciding to do dangerous things as well), so hes developed this mentality that its him and his camp versus everyone else. it all boils down to the thought he has that he cant have both. and if his friends are really going to try to have both, hes going to try to do what he thinks is best. because if they keep trying to pick the more dangerous options - ie the worse options, in ottos opinion - then hes going to make more decisions behind their backs. because hes not gonna trust them to make the decisions that he thinks are the better ones, because its not in Their Nature to do so.

but its in his nature to do that. what do you do when something grows out of control? you try to exert control. theres also the possibility of: why keep allies to your camp around when they encourage your camp to continue staying in vollachia? how can you trust them if theyre going to interrupt on your internal camp affairs?

which is why he grows angry at julius for trying to interfere - because being the internal affairs minister to the emilia camp is otto's job, and he doesnt want someone outside of the camp interfering with his friends and any possible plans he has or will have. this is also why julius apologizes to otto - he recognizes ottos protectiveness and ottos status within his camp.

so. anyway. TLDR: ottos acting a little similar to arc 4 subaru, isnt he? thinking he knows whats best.... trying to manipulate everything around him to get the outcome he wants..... pushing forward on his own instead of depending on his friends..... refusing to depend on his friends.... having Confrontations with roswaal...... etc, etc.

but the man lives off denial and so he focuses on the first one.

this intersects w some of his... motivations in interesting ways

for example a main one is who he considers it his responsibility to protect sampson. but ok 1: he is a ghoul, so he'll live forever but does he want to? 2: its a dangerous world so protecting him is a big task and can he do that forever? and 3: what happens if sampson does want to live longer but turns against him either emotionally or in a deeper way? what then.

like basically the situation he's in... can it last forever? probably not. will mark grapple with that fact? No <3 its fine for now cause he isn't even a year in yet but it will be a problem at some point...

another one is serving Julius. so far julius has not asked anything too heinous of him but if there truly is eternity that's not gonna last forever. also, mark doesnt know this, but I Do, that when the pyramid falls, the blood bond may traumatically break but that does NOT mean Julius is gonna let go - only become more coercive, with mark more aware of the shit spot he is in. i am going to go absolutely insane when that happens. mark is gonna have a mc'freakin breakdown and if sampson isnt his friend at this point idk what he will do cause thats the only person in his life who could possibly understand.

Ok and finally just how literally like. ok so. mark struggles against the beast like every kindred does and GENRALLY does well because of a promise to himself after he murdered a guy in hunger frenzy, that once he gets That Hungry (mechanically hunger 4) his top goal will be reducing it and at hunger 3 its one of his highest goals. Like he has to believe he can keep it in check. but with eternity... mistakes happen. like there isnt any way he could prevent himself from ever making a mistake like that again. he is in such denial about it though. and when he fucks up again he'll be forced to accept that it will happen Another time, and Again. itll be so delicious <3 (like the blood i mean what)

Anyways.

mark believes he is taking a long view of things but he truly is NOT. he's just using that idea to Cope. he tells himself he has to settle things in his territory, w sampson, w such and such julius task, then he can sit down, study like he wants to, keep things in check ; but here is the thing. vampire society isnt like that. things are gonna shake up eventually. because you either die fast in one of those shake ups, or you live forever always long enough to see another one.

he is telling himself to just go a little longer, push a little harder, and then he can rest. then itll be ok.

but that might not ever come.

he has to learn some coping mechanisms soon... or have friends. hes not in a place where he could actually step away and get a break.

he's getting there on the friends bit w his coterie mate rose cause she agreed to stop dating Lucky (LOTS OF CONTEXT NEEDED WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT BUT IT IS ) and that meant a lot to him and he'll be more willing to open up to her in the future- but i think that will still require some sort of come-to-jesus moment where hes like. Oh shit im doing really bad actually.

I find it pretty funny that Keith David is a president/vice president in Rick and Morty and Saints Row 4. Do you think their universes could be connected?

To be honest with you, I do. ive thought about this since i was like 16, but i also thought the idea was slightly cringe (at the time, now i let my cringe free). i could soo totally see boss and rick getting along so well, the fact theyre both reckless and flirty, the way they both act like "im tough, i dont care about anyone" but in reality they care so much that theyre willing to sacrifice themselves for their loved ones. plus cmon, the fact they both can not only avoid authority so well, but the fact theyve both been able to get out of jail with little to no actual punishment for their crimes? oh thats best friends right there i think. plus we can imply that saints row has some sort of canon/lore connection to adult swim tv show lore anyways, since jimmy - the guy who makes Johnny tag in the clones dlc for saints row 3 - is clearly supposed to be the nerd from robot chicken (literally even featuring the same voice - which iirc is done by seth green)

additionally with the fact that a song from the tim and eric show (the sports theme) as well as the aqua teen hunger force them and a MF doom song being included on the radio sound track? i mean i know adult swim did contribute to the game, but its not entirely clear in what way the adult swim universe is tied into saints row. especially cos they drop nearly all references to it outside of the fact im pretty sure you can have johnny tag and clone aisha as companions in sr4 (not entirely sure though since its been months since i played sr4 last and you do have to unlock them).

plus the line that the president has in the "get schwifty" episode' "...I'm the goddamn president of the united fucking states"... totally sounds like something he'd say when being confronted by boss for his backstabbing...

which honestly not to be tangential but i have to talk about that now bc im sooo realizing how genius it is to make keith backstab boss.... especially because he does it right before you get put into a simulation where you have to fight Julius little? i may hark on saints row 4's writing but goddd the fan service they give to us can be soo good. It almost makes me wonder if keith david is a clone or hologram that zinyak made specifically to betray/trick boss - especially since hes the only one (other than Benjamin king, but this you could argue Ben wasnt immune to it, since it was teased in the cutscene, plus you could make the point that boss doesnt see Ben the same way they see someone like johnny whos been a long time friend and companion and even someone like matt miller, who may be a genuine threat - posessing skills boss doesnt have/understands - but boss still sees him as "lesser" or equal to them bc of who matt is outside of his keyboard) who rejects boss' advances in the ship. especially because his bitterness not only towards boss, but zinyak. He makes a mention of originally campaigning to be the president before "zinyak kicked the stool out from under him", and since hes aware earth is gone... why would he care abt being president of holograms? some of the plot points they make in sr4 are a tad annoying for the reason that they love to set up stuff like this, and the audio log collectables tell us so much, yet, they wont do anything with it unless its inherently funny.

dont get me wrong, love saints row's humor but i just wish they wouldnt sacrifice interesting plots and characters for it. And i wish they would solidify canon more.

TLDR; i do think saints row and rick and morty are connected in some way yes. the way i think the saints row universe is indeed intertwined with other adult swims shows due to saints row 3 giving us plenty of hints that the universe are connected in some way.

so when i think about patolli and william’s relationship from patolli’s perspective, i cant help but see patolli seducing william as a subconscious act of vengeance carried out against the humans. like william may have been the perfect body to possess, but patolli DIDN’T have to do half of what he did because william was already weak enough emotionally to give himself up to patolli willingly since he always had a feeling patolli was hibernating in his head. patolli could have taken advantage of his naivete and forcibly possessed william even earlier than intended, but he didn’t. patolli WILLINGLY fucked with william to the point where william was like “you have my heart, my body, AND my bussy” and patolli didn’t even have corporeal control until AFTER julius had ‘died.’ patolli played william until william was all his, body and soul, and he really ABSOLUTELY didnt have to go that hard, cuz william had already suffered enough abuse and neglect that he may have even WELCOMED death at one point just to make patolli happy. but patolli didn’t make it easy for william. if anything, he did everything to destroy william’s credibility and forced him onto the precipice of death and made him commit a soft suicide just so patolli could reign. it is SUCH a tragic chain of events bc william was both the victim and the aggressor and whereas patolli had a motive for his violence, william did not. he committed violence bc he was a coward, bc he couldnt choose between patolli who was his other half, and julius who was his father figure.

and the reason why i think patolli seduced him on purpose is because i think he knew, deep down, that licht WASN’T in the wrong for falling in love with tetia. bc at the end of the day, love between species IS possible, and tetia WAS genuine in her love, and patolli was just jealous, plain and simple. but where licht DID fuck up was trusting his love would lead him to salvation, which ended in nothing but death and destruction. and that’s what patolli DIDN’T do, bc even tho he genuinely grew to love and care about william, he chose NOT to let his love dictate his heart, and so he killed william (metaphorically).

because patolli didnt have to be kind. he didnt have to give william the warmth and love that he did, didnt have to make william feel like his purpose was more than just serving julius. patolli gave william something to devote himself to, and more than that, patolli gave william genuine, honest, unfiltered love and it’s the love william wanted the most because it was all-encompassing. and it was also the love that metaphorically killed him in the end when patolli took over his body for good, because william couldnt handle the guilt.

it’s so hauntingly ironic that patolli’s vessel ended up becoming the wizard king’s surrogate son, bc that means william was essentially wizard prince, and after reading about william’s state rn and knowing that he’s being offered up as a sacrifice, i cant help but believe william has now fully inherited tetia’s role.

patolli’s rage stems from the argument was that the elven genocide was a result of licht putting his guard down after falling in love with tetia and befriending lumiere. but didnt patolli end up doing the same shit in the end? loving and emotionally abusing a human who was willing to spiritually die for him in the end, sure patolli never had to trust humankind to get his shit done, but he fucked with william when he absolutely had no reason to. he gave william the love he so desperately desired when he could have subtly tortured him. instead of abusing him outright, he killed william with kindess and with love.

i hope that william survives this arc bc i want them to reunite and see each other after this separation. they know each other for what they really are now. i know that william doesnt hate patolli, but i hope PATOLLI has finally realized that the love of his life, his other half was always william because it was WILLIAM who willingly gave up his will and body to him, and out of all of his followers, it was the human who loved and devoted himself the most. bc as much as patolli hated tetia, even he knew that her love for licht was genuine.

hopefully william’s kidnapping will spark that realization in patolli that this time, it’s not just william going to sleep in his head, but that he’s about to be violently murdered to bring about the apocalypse. patolli doesnt have to care about the humans bc they dont matter. they still mirror licht and tetia bc i believe, in my heart, that patolli does truly and honestly love him. he didnt do the right things at first bc his mission came before his love, but now the mission is over but his love is still there. i think this is the moment where patolli has to come to terms with a decision not even licht had to face - to let the dark triad kill william and set off the humankind genocide as the ultimate revenge, or to fight back and save william not bc of the lil humans but bc he genuinely loves william. here’s to hoping that patolli will also make lots of emotional love to william after murdering zenon in cold blood ameen

when he was a wee lad, he’d spend a few weeks every summer in good ol’ frostford. his grandparents are frostford natives, but his mom was all about getting out of town so she moved to baton rouge for school (lsu baby) and ended up staying there.

mom met the love of her life in college, so sweet so cute so pure.

so xavi baby is a louisiana boy. 

the weeks in the summer he spent in frostford were literal torture like. imagine being ten and your friends are living it up at water parks while you’re chasing chickens for the culture.

he was bored and his grandparents had weird rules and super strict bedtimes even when he got older. it was jank

anyway

growing up he was lowkey a nerd. he loved magic treehouse books and slept with his copy of one day at horrorland...he stanned goosebumps books hard. 

he’s still a nerd, but he’s hot now so he’s more on the down low. will he get into heated debates about the symbolism of colors in the great gatsby? of course, who doesn’t? so he’s not really trying to hide it

obviously he played brutus in a high school production of julius caesar, but no one needs to talk about that. he loves dat shakespeare though. he also played basketball and ran track so troy bolton was based on him. 

he went to lsu, duh, because that’s his parents alma matter. he was a big fan of the sports but didnt actually play them cause he was securing that academic bag instead (also he was good in high school but wasnt college athlete good big rip)

he has a masters degree in psychology, which he worked round the clock for. he took summer and winter sessions during school because he was a nutso who loved learning. like. he didn’t WANT the time off he was like give me the KNOWLEDGE. his friends were like yay! bachelors! and he was like catch up bitches i got that a year and a half ago ha ha.

he was planning on pursuing his doctorate but his grandma got sick and grandpa couldn’t take care of her by himself so he came back to frostford to help :’) what a sweetie

he also knew he could live with them without having to pay any rent or anything so...that was a big factor he ain’t all sweet

he helped around the house, helped take his grandma to appointments, made sure she took her medicine just old people stuff, but he was an ambitious little freak so after a few months he started interning to become a school counselor

he already had the degree, he just had to put in some service time. which mostly consisted of him sitting and watching another counselor have awkward conversations with students and hand them pamphlets rather than actually talk to them

so you know, xavier the king really wanted to make a DIFFERENCE 

he actually got in trouble for counseling some kids without being technically cleared to do so but....their actual counselor just didn’t listen to them :/ it wasn’t his fault :/

long story short he is now the counselor at the middle school yall dont wanna hear about this anymore

frostford is so damn slow he feels like he’s gonna lose his mind sometimes. the routines are good to plan around, easy to organize stuff, but god sometimes he’s like i can’t believe i’m still here

he’s traveled~ as in, when he was in college he went on a backpacking trip to europe and talks about it too often, he also spent a day in paris eating nothing but bread and cheese and, again, wont shut up about it. please dont bring it up

he makes a point to travel somewhere once a year though, during the summer. sometimes it’s some place in the good ol’ usa, san diego’s beautiful. other times he’s gotta be extra and go to iceland. it happens.

he tries to be really honest and open with students that come see him. there are a lot of things going on in the world that teachers and authority figures try to shield kids from, but he’s like they���re not dumb they’re young teenagers they see this shit happening you gotta educate them!

he likes to get on their level and play games with them, basketball, catch, he has a playstation in his office. it’s easier for the kids to open up to him when it’s not in such a formal setting and they’re not forced to make deep eye contact

there’s a decent handful of students who move on from middle school into high school (obvs) but come back to talk to him if they’re having problems. he makes them feel heard :’)

he’s definitely slept with a students mom before but like...on accident? he can’t help who he matches with on tinder these things just HAPPEN

also thinks small town tinder is a form of torture because you’ll match with someone get your flirt on then run into them getting groceries like? theres not enough people here

there are like 45 people in town he rubs the wrong way because they feel like he’s talking down to them, he doesn’t mean to do it but sometimes these small town alabama folk say some real dumb shit

Since my followers happen to like Julius here’s another Julius as a unit in FEH appreciation long post because I said so.   

You already know it but I think Julius is just absolutely crazy, but I’m constatly reminded of that in real life, like I just went against yet another pulse team in AR, and what is my instinctive choice when I see 5 units with pre-charged Luna? (and L!Azura who is just there for dances, blue with 49/42 is nothing for him its just easy facts) Which is probably the worst special for Julius because it scales of HIS defences, which is 99% of time higher that enemy’s... Nah, sniping isnt safe and Reinhardt isnt killing that Micaiah because she has 42 res at the start and horse effectiveness anyway, that’s just too much. Right, Julius just goes in, no visible buffs because I had def but I entered idiot mode, in a spot where notably Flora then Micaiah (other options were Micaiah and anti-dragon H!Sakura, no thanks) can reach him. These girls right here. Physical damage and blue damage huh, which is pretty bad for Julius?  

 He then takes Lunas from a red dagger and a blue mage with 53 and 63 attack respectively (brazen was active from bolt tower proc), under ever-present chill res on Ophelia above  I hate chill res so much you dont even imagine. Every time I see that a team has no chill res I just feel like Julius got a +7 buff to res instead . And kills both of them plus a stray L!Azura because he didnt die from them. Like... my god, why do people sleep on Julius, this is absolutely stupid damage, and without those pre-charged specials (which took most team’s C slots by the way, and offed the posibility of a tactics team cause too many infantries) they’d be 0-ing him or close (mind you, I forgot to put visble(s) on him) and he deals legit damage in return, his attack stat paired with Iceberg just deletes people even if it’s blue Micaiah with 49 res (brazen active) just ... go home 36 damage (not 100% health but she would have 7 less res if not for brazen) . That’s right, his special is named “Iceberg” but it’s actually called “DIE” and it has 3 cooldown. Which essentially means every second round of combat if he gets attacked. Greens and frail red/colorless dont even need the Iceberg but still charge it. 

 And that’s not for chosen few units, this is actually worse-end scenatio with pulse and stuff, he spits on like ... absolute majority of ranged units in the game, no matter the color or stats. Only exceptions are non-green daggers with bucket/cloud fan/kitty paddle (but not always) OR full-charge bladetomes/super high attack blues with dragon fang pre-charged (fully pre-charged, not even 1 tick left, and AoE isnt the same.). I personally find ranged units harder to avoid because of ... their range, and if range overlaps with some melee you can just snipe them out of the way with another (PP) ranged unit (if Julius cant just do it himself) and reposition away with Julius in range of only ranged units again. But if you can’t do that, depending on who the melee unit is, Juli may be able to ignore them at least for a turn too, leaving them at player team’s mercy then (but without anti-dragon prfs yeah). Greens - definitely, reds and colorless -  maybe, usually it’s a yes but calculations required. Blues - usually no... but well if they cant double then maybe. I had lance Hector (special fighter in B so no auto-follow-up) hit him once. It scared him but he didnt die mmmhm.

 He just doesnt die almost ever he just... he doesn’t care. He is invested in (with a cheap build though, it costs 20k feathers and 170 coins that’s it), but... so are all those units he’s fighting. It’s AR tier 21+ top 1000 baby, you get lucky if only 3-4* available units are +10 and not the whole 6-people team minus possibly the dancers. (5* locked are usually like +1 or +3 but full teams of +10s pop up too. Micaiah in particular was +10) Not that it matters to him, it gives them a chance sometimes I guess?

No, really, how do most tier lists have him very low, he’s equally or even more stupid than Reinhardt, coming from a person who loves Reinhardt and has him just as invested. His stats are just right and his prf is also great but maybe because he’s so unpopular and people dont use him he might get a refine (not that it’s a criteria) which will make him even stronger even if it does literally nothing for him like... a def ploy. You can pick 2HP 3def, It will still count. And people will still not use him ayyyy ... but what he has now is not something you can get on just about any unit, not in red mage pool or any other (there ARE similar ones, though).

I think Julius deserves more recognition than he has now. He’s great.

-blood is so humorless in this manga!! what im thinking about right now is the bath scene where he's just complaining about alice behind her back... in game she was there and they were having a kicking war under the water! she was lying to him and elliot about not being able to handle drinking! she complained he needs to watch his kids and hes like oh no, those are elliot's kids. it was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere! I'm pretty sure we dont get the box in box gift at the beginning either, or alice telling him to stfu about his tea special interest, or alice sizing him up as a second grade bully on a playground...basically he's such a funny comedic character and that is one of his main sources of appeal imo. so that's gone.

-but we ALSO don't go hard on "be my bad boy amv dangerous mama im in love with a criminal romance novel ohhh i shouldnt but it feels so good" sex appeal either? because right at the point where they would've had sex for the first time he swerves into kills you road, and then the story has to be about that instead.

-WAIT HE DOESNT ACT LIKE HE HAS ~A DISEASE~ (FELL IN LOVE) EITHER.... OR "IM SO TIRED I WISH ANYONE NOT TIRED WAS DEAD"..... SO MANY FUNNY MOMENTS....

-so like if he isnt funny and he isnt sexy why are people supposed to care about him as a love interest.... -_-

-i halfway take back my feelings of blood being ooc in that kind of anger at "youre too friendly with every guy" way. i think its a reaction that's possible for him to have because this game enjoys jealousy tropes. he does get extremely jealous of her friendships with particular other guys, and reacts....... in a variety of ways,

-interestingly though not with julius! his reaction to her friendship with julius is more like 😬😬 okay so you dont know it but this is making a political statement you may not want to make.

-twice in manga ive seen him shoot around the tower for julius "taking her away" tho. maybe its a nonstay thing...

-i just dont think he should be acting like that because the situation alice gets into in the manga is one he should never have to react *to* because *it should not be possible for all of these events to happen in one timeline*.

-the half i am NOT rescinding is him accusing her of cheating on her ex/blaming her for that relationship's failure because we SEE him react to that in game and his kneejerk reaction is different.*

-it is extremely funny to me that so far like every manga author ive seen do a bloodalice plotline does the "omg are he and vivaldi a secret couple" thing because they clearly don't want to go the "i cant bring myself to tell him out loud i want to have sex in a bed and not a couch" route. i cant blame them but also , IF I WERE COACH, etc etc.

-idk im just very fascinated with telling bloodalice' story as a bunch of sex that is, while consensual (heres where i tell QR to shhhhh), bringing up a lot of conflicting and upsetting feelings in alice that she is hurting the relationship and the friendship its based on by Not Talking About. and the double-level of like... a late teen exploring adulthood/sex for the first time while also being a person older than that who is also navigating having sex for the first time because she has never moved past being like 18-9 emotionally.

-not that not having sex in your teens is a requirement of emotional maturity but that i personally headcanon she has never seeked another relationship after her first one. was too hurt and then lorina died and all processes kind of stopped for her.

-blood does have a "wants to kill her" plotline in game, so the manga does have its roots in that.

- in his route it's the same "i want to go against the belief that outsiders are lovable by killing one". its been a while but im pretty sure that gets settled fairly quickly so we have more time to either like or dislike couches, etc.

-in elliot's route he gets threatening towards her in a "i wonder whos side elliot would take if i killed you?" way towards the middle-end, and then elliot is like Um Hey Boss Can We Talk Privately and the matter is never brought up again. (I wish we got to see that convo. "can you not threaten to kill my girlfriend" "okay youre right sorry, that was rude", lmao)

-ace seems to want to kill her because he realized that it is not in fact the "meeting an outsider" that changes your life for the better, it's something else? which i guess plays down the sort of "youre like meeee haha" depressionsexual angle he takes in game, or maybe this alice just isnt visibly depressed enough for his tastes lmao

-alice in general, as i keep saying, seems to me to be kept a lot more hands-clean and "pure"- she doesnt touch clocks she doesnt drink she doesn't bathe with the guys, she never has a bizzare "murder is okay maybe??" moment (THAT I REMEMBER), etc. i feel like despite That Whole Plotline theres less making out/sex than in the game too?

-does she go on less self hating rants or am i just forgetting....

-if we MUST center this story around people wanting to kill alice for reasons related to her outsideriness i wish we got to heavily play up the "completed love" segment.

-a completed love.... that alice thinks the purest love is the love for a woman who's died. and that she feels she will never achieve being loved in that manner. near death experiences should be a perfect time to meditate on that, right? does she feel like she can achieve it? is she afraid that even in death, blood will ensure her memory is "some flirty girl who kisses up to everyone"- that she will Lose at Being Girl no matter what?

-i dont remember getting that though.... missed opportunities....

-i think positioning blood as an antagonist who wants to counter beliefs about outsiders by killing her couldve worked if he simply did not know her very well and then got to know her later on and was like oh i see. nevermind.

-oh, but the strangling was unrelated to this wasnt it? it was as punishment for walking into him and vivaldi's garden. which i think is a waste of like.... everything blood says about guilt, punishment, etc regarding elliot and that he sees the same in alice. couldve been a ~youve been a bad girl~ sexy scene lmao!!!! but he's apparently not allowed to have any sex appeal in this manga, so :'|

Ainoqres’ would prefer that wooden furniture decorated look, so wooden shelves and tables here and there. He’d probably have paintings of landscapes too.

I’m gonna go with young child

Julius | A room with lots of space and areas to put whatever posters said kid would want. Probably some shelves and what not so the child has a place to put their toys. It would also have a stand with a modern tv.

Ainoqres | Paint it a colour that the child wants.. Would put a window on it, and of course, more wooden decorations like shelves and a table.

Well neither of them have a permanent home and are always on the move, so they can’t really decorate it at all.

Julius really loves formal clothing like button ups and dress pants, but he also really loves sweaters with jeans. He has a thing for trenchcoats too. He likes it when they have colours that contrast his skin colour. He also has an earring on his right ear.

Ainoqres prefers darker coloured clothes with no sleeves.Belts too even if he doesn’t need it. He always wears a mask that only covers his lower half of his face just for the heck of it.

Julius is fine with it even though he doesn’t really follow them. Ainoqres knows nothing about current trends.

Ok with Julius I used to rp young Walter in a touhou crossover rp but later on he sort of of became really ooc especially with the backstory I had going on. I still liked the ideas in general though so I decided to just make an oc for all those ideas and leave Walter at peace.

I can’t remember what inspired me to make Ainoqres but a big part of finalising his character came from making a polar opposite to my former oc Serqonia back in like 2011

Goodness yes

Depends on what other characters but Julius is pretty fun while Ainoqres is kind of hard but very interesting once I actually pull him off
