that last run bts ep is the only one ive seen so far. can you tell me why the later ones are misses for u? and maybe recommend a couple eps that are worth watching? ❤️
Hi anon!
Honestly I really loved the Flying Yoga episodes and the last Field Day, and Telepathy had it’s charm. I didn’t really hate any of the new ones in their entirety looking back, and each episode had at least several moments that made me laugh or smile… but I guess the energy just felt lacking sometimes? I think some of them just felt a bit boring too maybe (probably because I wasn't a huge fan of some of the concepts). I think it didn’t help that they had the whole “hiatus” thing looming over them.
Tbh, I’ve still yet to get through every Run episode, especially some of the later ones (because I started watching them chronologically) so I’m probably missing some key moments! But here are some of the ones I really enjoyed!
21 - “The Taste of Korea” (this is the first cooking episode so it just has lots of iconic moments!) 25 - “BTS vs Zombie” (a true classic imo) 52 - “The 50th Episode Special, Pt. 2” (I just love theme parks) 54-56 - “BTS Picnic pt 1-4” (kind of like a mini BV with some strong sentimental moments at the end) 64-66 - “BTS school pt1-3” 70-72 - “BTS in Toronto pt1-3” (another mini BV) 80-81 - “Operation 007 pt1-2” (definitely a fan favorite) 84-86 - “Summer Outing pt1-3” (1000% recommend these) 105-107 - “Photo Exhibition pt1-3” (has a really iconic Jimin moment at the end) 119-120 - “Photo Story pt1-2” 127-128 - “777 Lucky Seven pt 1-2” (two of my favorite episodes ever! underrated imo) 141-142 - “BTS Collaboration Variety Show pt1-2" (this is part of a collaboration with the Game Caterer’s, so some of the episodes are on their Youtube channel. Here’s a playlist with the other parts if you’re interested!
IIRC you watch Run BTS 141 and then 1-3 off this playlist, Run BTS 142 and then the rest. The first three YouTube videos where they each have a secret mission are definitely at the top of my list, so chaotic and funny!)
Special Episode - Fly BTS Fly pt1-2 (honestly two of my favorites overall now that I'm looking back)
And an honorable mention to episode 41 (I think it’s pt2 of something) which is the origin of the Lachimola running joke
Anyways, if you feel like it, let me know if you end up watching and enjoying any of these! Like I said, I'm probably missing a lot of great episodes, but these were all super memorable and funny for me!

Cross hums as he finishes cutting another wood board in the right size. He puts it with the others on the pile before checking the list he made before hand.
Cross nods as he looks towards the house "Got them all ready for the downstairs!" Cross grins as he takes a moment to just look at the house. Their house!
When Horror had returned with the news their new acquaintances had secured them a house they had all been sceptic at best, Dust had been downright suspicious.
But it was the truth! aparently they had managed to build up a good enough reputation that they had been trying to figure out a solution. An empty and abandoned farm and ground? That was too small for most to do anything with? hidden mostly by a forest?
Perfect for them!
They had gone to check it out and it is amazing! It is secure and easily to defend! Sure it is an old building but Cross and Horror can fix up the house easily enough! Dust had handed Nightmare over to Killer and had started looking around the house to inspect it.
long story short? He thinks he can fix most things.
With a hopeful plan they spend the inspection day also cleaning. That had been yesterday.
today? They took most of the old construction wood Crop and Straw had stored away and they got to work. Dust is cleaning and fixing what he can while Horror and Cross himself did contruction work.
Killer is on Nightmare watching duty. Mostly because Killer doesn't have nay skills in construction. Neither of them mind as they had been exploring their new area and territory together. Hoenstly it was adorable to see Killer walk by with Nightmare on his shoulders.
Horror walks out of the house as he takes the planks "Thanks. Walls?"
Cross grins proudly "All of them. Including the walls and the new banisters for the roof."
Horror blinks before grinning "great. thanks Oreo." nad he chuckles as Cross sputters.
May be because horror isn't wearing a shirt. Which kinda makes sense! Becuase horror is pulling a lot of old wood away and rebuilding stuff. the chances of him ripping his few good shirts is rather high. Still Cross is trying very hard to just focus on his face and skull. it is fine! No one notices!
Cross turns back to the pile he still has. it has been reduced quickly which sucks. He looks through it with a frown.
Crop stops by him with a knowing smile "Hey Cross!" he grins wider "Getting heated?"
Cross glares at him "Well the late autumn sun is rather warm!" and he goes back to shifting through his pile.
Crop nods "It is it is..." then the grin falls and he frowns "You guys already that low?"
Cross shifts through it more "Yeah but it is okay! I can probably use this to make the cabinets for the kitchen still..." still they will need to get more materials for everything else.
Crop frowns and must have made the same conclusion "Hopefully Straw gets back soon with more stuff."
Cross rubs his neck "You guys really didn't need to help this much... we already own you big time..."
Crop shrugs "That is how a community works Cross. We all help each other. We will eventually pay it back with helping them back." he smiles "We are only a tiny town and only have ourselves to count on. You heard how the deal with the repair service from the big city went. People are quick to think off us as dumb or naive. We gotta stuck together."
Cross shoots him a grin "We will try to ffigure something out... eventually." he groans "we don't even know what type of farm to make yet!"
Crop shrugs "You guys will have to test some stuff. See what works for you and your land..." he grins again "I don't think a diary farm fits you guys though."
Cross glares at him "Not funny. I swear Betty knew she freaked me uot."
Crop nods "Oh absolutely! Cows are really smart."
Just makes them more terrifying in Cross's opinion and he has no doubt that thought is clear on his face.
Crop laughs but a honk of a car pulls them out of their conversation. and. That is a giant truck. much bigger than Straw and Crop's truck.
Crop blinks "Dani and Ellie?" he raises to his feet and waves.
The truck stops and Ellie leans out "Hello! Your lovely neighborhood lesbians have brought you." she puts ahand under her chin and wiggles her eye brows "the wood."
Dani chuckles as she jumps out "Straw told everyone around town. Most people are grabbing their stuff but this was all stuff we were planning on giving to the community anyway." she shrugs "tree farmers after all."
Ellie grins as she waves them over "Come! lets see what you need! We have all types of trunks with us. They will still need some work and treatment but Dani is amazing with her magic!"
Dani grins as she gives a thumbs up "figure out how to treat wood with magic instead of the slow treatment. Most still want the traditional work but i figured you guys would be okay with this help."
Cross is unsure how to react. People don't just help them. People hate them and what they do. Tehy hadn't expected this much help and it is overwhelming "I... I... I don't know how to... We don't have money?" he is lost.
Dani shrugs again as Ellie smiles "Hey. We have been where you guys have been... well not exactly but people werent'exactly welcoming of us either... as soon as we graduated we grbabed my old car and just left. we foudn thsi place and people were nice enough to take a chance on us." she grins "We now pay that forwards. We are doing this!" she grins and winks "Will just have to invite us over for a prime tour of the farm once you guys are all done!"
Dani nods as she starts untying the many trunks "What Ellie said. the Danielle's are at your service. Now what do you need?"
Cross is still lost when Horror joins them curiously. no doubt hearing all the noise. He pauses as he takes in the sight before tilting his skull "What?"
Cross just kidna waves at the two "We... euh.. got help? And thinks? Do you know what we need?" his mind is in shambles at the moment.
Hroror sees it and smiles as he walks past. patting his shoulder before going over to the dog and bunny and having a short conversation. Horror hears their whole speech and smiles. he thanks them and explains what they need for what. The two woman listen closely before nodding and starting to organise the brought materials with practised ease.
Horror joins his side again and grabs Cross's lists. He takes a pencil and writes some tree names by a few of the items before handing them back "They will help prepare the materials. They are nice." and he disappears back inside.
Welp!! If Horror says that that means they are nice and most likely trustworthy! They get over to him and Cross explains the system he had and what they had calculated to need for each area. The two monsters nod and ask if they should start on the porch while cross continues preparing stuff for horror. Which Cross thanks them and agrees wiht.
They are hard at work when Killer nad Nightmare return. Killer laughs "Criss Cross! you are not going to believe this! The like east area just has a tiny field at the edge of the forest and part of that forest is still in our little area! better yet that means some of the forest animals are like right there!" then he notices the guests and grows quiet "oh... hello." His hold on Nightmare's leg tightens.
Ngihtmare tilts his tiny skull at the two monsters "Dani and Ellie... right?"
Ellie coos as Dani grins "Good memory. I can't imagine remembering all the new faces you meet only once is easy." and she finishes her spell on a piece of wood which Ellie pulls over to cut.
Nightmare shrugs as he hugs Killer's skull "good memory..."
KIller nods as he glances at Cross "Sooooo... Hello Lovely ladies!" he grins "What brings you here?"
Dani raises a piece of wood "Neighborhoodly friendliness." and she continues with her task.
Killer stares at him and Cross grins "They brough over some wood" he ignores the eye brow wigglign "after they heard from STraw that we are getting the house fixed up. aparently it is a community thing that everyone helps everyone." he shrugs at the doubting look "Don't look at me. it is new for me too. Horror said it is fine though."
Killer blinks "I mean... if Horror said it is fine..." he looks at Nightmare "What do you think tiny boss?"
Nightamre shrugs and hugs his skull.
Killer nods "notion accepted. Got it." he grins at them "We are going to look at some of the other stuff Straw and Crop brought along. See what is in there."
Cross nods "Good idea!" and he watches Killer walk off with Nightmare.
Dani chuckles and looks over "Not good at construction?"
Cross groans loudly "Killer is good at a lot of things... not construction." he shrugs "It is fine. We don't want Nightmare near this stuff anyway." he is too small to lift everything and could too easily get hurt. it doesn't matter he is technically a god he is not going to have to work. They don't agree with child labor.
Dani nods "I get that. best to have a child safe corner for them to sit in." she turns back to the next trunk and gets to work as Ellie cuts pieces.
They work for a long time and the sun is well past midday when more people come by. They deliver some older looking furniture and more tools and items for them to use.
Most don't stay for long aside from dropping things off or asking if they needed anything specific. Some brought over some premade food for them and other snacks because aparently 'breaks are important!'.
Crop and Straw, when he returned, work on clearing the road betweent eh main road and the farm and getting some clear markers on where to go.
Dani and Ellie leave later in the afternoon and by the end of the day their group of skeletons looks back at their progress. They aren't done yet but it starts to look more like a house than an actual falling apart piece of junk.
Dust is covered in ashes and when they look at him he just says 'fireplace' which probably means he found a challenge of somekind. Then again Cross thinks he spotted Dust on the roof once or twice but each time he had looked back to check he hadn't been there.
They are packing up when Killer and Nightmare return. Killer looking very proud and Ngihtmare looking a bit more nervous as he fidgets.
Horror and him share alook as Horror looks at them, now once again fully dressed "yes?"
Killer grins "Remember how we were told most farms have a name?"
Cross give shim a look "We are aware. we also agreed we would take time to think about it."
Killer grins "True. But! Nightmare thought of one and I figured it was perfect and fine!" Ngihtmare shoots him a glare and crosses his tiny arms.
Dust tils his skull "fact. Waht is the name?"
Cross wants to disagree but also if nightamre wants to clal it something specific he is fine with it. Nightmare never complains about them deciding stuff so why would they complain about this.
Nightmare mutters something but when he sees everyone looking and waiting he speaks louder "It was just an idea... Killer got excited..." still staring and he rubs his arm looking embarresed "It is silly... I thought... I figured Haven would fit. Haven Farm."
Cross stares at Nightmare and feels a bit of tears try to form as the meaning sinks in and what it implies and means. He can't stop it as he picks nightmar eup and hugs him close. Purring much too loud as he speaks "I agree it is perfect!" their home. their safe place. their hide out. their haven.
Killer grins wider and nods "Which i agreed with. So!" he pulls out a board from behind his back.
It is a name plate. It spells Haven but the letters are a bit croaked and nailed to the backboard. it are all different sizes and different colours nad Cross fucking loves it!
Killer grins "We made it together." he rolls his eye lights "don't worry i did the cutting and nailed it all together. Ngihtmare was my supervisor."
Dust looks appeased as he nods "Seems good."
Horror nods as he takes the plate and puts it by the door, too hang later "Will need a bigger one for the gate at the enterance."
Cross grins as he feels ngihtamre relax at the approval and start to purr himself. Cros sjust nuzzles the babybones.
They still have a lot of work ahead of them but that is fine. It will be all so very much worth it once it is done and they have their house to finally just be them.

So, sometimes while playing botw/totk, I like to take out my horses and do long journeys across Hyrule, to take a break from fast travelling and completing quests.
Since I just got a new horse way down south (her name's Urania!), it seemed like the perfect excuse to take the long way to Link's house. Usually I map out the way before hand, so I know which route to take, and what stables/towns we are stopping at. Because I wanna feel like Aragorn I suppose.
This was the completed route, starting in Highland Stable, Faron, towards Link's House in Akkala:
Tumblr media
It took us about 2.5 days to make the journey, with 3 stable stops in Dueling Peaks, Woodlands, and finally Foothill, with a short stop in Kakariko Village to get some supplies and food.
I realise now I could've continued north towards Riverside Stable, instead of east Dueling Peaks but. Oh well. It was a very pleasant trip either way!
(pics and deets below):
Tumblr media
So, we took off from Highland Stable and headed east, around Lake Hylia. Crossing the Hylia bridge would be easier, but there's a fire gleeok there and I'm very scared 😌💙
It wasn't easy to cross Farosh hills on horse, but we made it! Took us a day's worth.
(I forgot the Big Twin bridge wasn't in use, so I did try my best to find a different way for Urania to cross, but no deal. I had to cheat a little and use the stable boarding function 🥺)
Tumblr media
Then next day we took off early and stopped by Kakariko to buy some more arrows for me and carrots for the horsie 🥹🥕
Tumblr media
Left the village by 9:30, passed by Wetland stable, and continued north to Woodland stable.
Tumblr media
We spent the night, and I left Urania there while I took care of some nearby affairs (aka a shrine and a couple other things). She behaved super well so I mafe sure to give her some extra apples before we took off again 🥹
We only had a few hours of daylight left, so we only went around Trilby Valley, and stopped at Foothill for the night (horse girlie needs to rest and also I didn't wanna be arsed with all the stalkoblins and such 🙃).
Tumblr media
Next morning we left early once again, and after some very annoying storms and rain, we at last reached home 🥹💙
Tumblr media
It was Urania's first journey EVER, and she did wonderfully 🥹💙🐎

Did you find about what it is? lowkey i have been waiting to see what it could be (I hope I don't sound rude or like I'm rushing you btw 😭 I am just curious)
Nooo you don't sound rude! I'm actually surprised you're interested in following up with it XD I did look further into what that hair accessory (?) could be, but didn't find any answer that satisfied me 100%. I still think it's a hairnet. I'll reblog the original post with the images soon!

the problem of the matter is i did internalize so much of what ex friend believed about me. even though i knew he was wrong and knew what was happening and tried to stop it and if i took more action to stop it would have been abusing power i held in a way i couldn't live with myself for.
#A BAD PERSON TRYING TO RUIN YOUR LIFE WOULD'VE GOTTEN YOU FIRED AND EVICTED IN WINTER IN ALASKA YOU MOTHERFUCKER. WHICH I DID NOT DO#he was renting a room from my dad. for cheaper than he wouldve been able to find anywhere else. his brother was too#his brother didn't pay rent for over 6 months and my dad just forgave him the debt because my dad knew how much of a difference it wouldve#made when he was that age. and i had told him ex friend was family to me & my dad applied that to the brother too. bc he is a good person.#and one of the strongest parts of my support system. and i didn't say a word to him about what was happening until i knew he already had a#plan for when he would be ending ex friend's lease. so there would be no subconscious impact on ex friend's housing either#mgmt at work straight up asked me if i thought ex friend should be fired immediately multiple times and i'm in retrospect livid they put me#in that position but told them to go by the strike system in the employee handbook and to follow policy that ex friend knew perfectly. that#it couldn't be on me as acting assistant manager to choose#and after 10 months of workplace harassment i got a different job to save my life. ex friend didn't get fired.#he did saw trap shit to my brain!!!!!! jesus christ#he moved cross country to live with his long time gf he called his wife despite never having met irl. to a way more conservative state.#despite being gay. and she left him this summer lol#hadn't checked his twitter in over a year when it got pulled up frm an old link and i saw that. and when he was already at a low point too#me voice. oh no who could've seen this coming. from how you behave in every relationship in your life#may delete this in the morning. but i have to talk about it sometimes#i'm never reaching out for closure both bc he wouldn't give me any and because i know it would trigger him and i don't intentionally trigge#people. unlike him :)#vampire pit#like. i have to talk about it sometimes. i have to talk about it.#jam posts

Hi, I have a question that I hope isn't stupid. I'm (technically) a political science grad student (I'm on indefinite leave due to disability, but that's beside the point). One thing I've been struggling with since day 1 is that everyone keeps saying "don't read the whole paper." "Reading every word is a waste of time." But when I ask "what do I read, then?" They just say "you'll get a feel for it as time goes on." I never did, I just got further and further behind. Sometimes a paper is very interesting, and I spend far too much time on it. Then I have exhausted my focus, and I can't get anything out of the next 4 papers I needed to read that night. How did you learn how to read for grad school?
Hey! I think the “don’t read the whole paper” is not the best advice. I like to read the entire paper because often there are some arguments embedded in different parts of the paper and it seems only fair to the researcher who spent ages getting their research published.
The “it gets better” comes from 1) reading enough papers so that it’s easy to follow the structure of the paper (e.g. reading papers with formal modelling is really daunting the first few times but then you learn to pick apart the important assumptions - I tend to skip a lot of the mathematical proofs because my brain is definitely not wired in that way), 2) having a research question in mind so that you can easily spot areas that are relevant to your research.
My standard process is that I read a paper in zotero, copy the highlights into obsidian and make a summary and takeaways in my own words so it’s easier for me to synthesize the information and have a record of it in case I want to refer back to it - this takes me roughly 30-60min per paper.
But! let’s say that you have 4 difficult papers you need to finish in 4 hours for your class and you can’t read one per hour. I would advise reading the introduction, methods and discussion parts of the paper.
For instance, reading the introduction immediately gives you the research question and a simplified version of the lit review and theory. Methods will give you an idea of how the authors try to prove it and whether it’s a valid approach. And the discussion section will summarize all the findings and their implications neatly. Once you’ve done that, you can spend your time trying to find connections between the papers. If you think a paper missed a major assumption, you can then skim the theory part just looking for if they address the assumption.
This is a long answer, but the basic bottom line is that once you read the introduction, you treat the paper as a reference in which you look for answers. At least this has worked for me! And obviously after each paper, you could eat something, walk around or watch a youtube video if you need to clear your head - I usually do this every two papers. Hope this answer has been in any way helpful!

i'm getting my cervix poked today and not in the fun way. nevertheless it must be done, and i highly recommend cervical screenings to anybody that procedure applies to. early detection is so so important when it comes to cancer, my mum would still be alive if they found it in stage one, so i implore you not to ignore your body

Another Muppets song on my list to somehow work into MBS: "Movin' Right Along"!! (I know it's a bit late and nobody cares, but I really wanted to do it)
I think this would be a song the kids do some of their Season 2 travel montage to. Not all of it, since there's also plot important stuff that has to happen, but definitely some of it!
Here is the original song, and here is a cover that I also like. (It moves a bit faster)
Some notes: I get that in Season 2 it's kind of tense and serious, what with Mr. Benedict and Number Two kidnapped and the kids running around Europe unsupervised. However. This is a Muppet Movie. People are barely capable of being serious for more than five seconds. Please keep that in mind as this song is very silly.
Constance very begrudgingly says her lines in a slightly sing-song voice, barely differentiable from speaking. In the parts where it lists all of the kids, she is just half-heartedly lip-syncing, or rolling her eyes at the others.
Sticky is trying very hard to keep track of the maps/train schedules this whole time. He is usually the one pointing the direction they should be going/correcting them if they get lost.
Reynie and Kate are the best roadtrip sing-along buddies. Every now and again Reynie will stop singing because he's trying to keep the group on track, but he is also having a lot of fun with Kate.
Kate would be the one driving the car, if that was feasible/what was actually happening. This is a very contextless and unfounded statement but I believe you need it in order to properly visualize their travel dynamic.
Reynie: Movin' right along in search of more clues and good news Kate: With good friends you can't lose This seems to be a habit! Sticky, holding up the train passes: Opportunity knocks once let's reach out and grab it Reynie: (yeah!) Together we'll nab it Kate: We'll hitchhike, bus or yellow cab it! Constance: (Cab it?)
All: Movin' right along Kate & Reynie: Footloose and fancy-free Getting there is half the fun, come share it with me All, with Kate on sound effects: Moving right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon) Sticky: We'll learn to share the load Constance: Don't we need a map to keep this show on the road?
Kate: Movin' right along, we've found a life on the highway Reynie: And your way is my way Sticky: So trust my navigation Kate: Mr. B and Number Two, we're coming to find you We're following the clues Constance: It's sad that you still think we're going to get there Reynie: Constance! Constance: You already roped me into the rhyming scheme once, I'm not doing it again
All, with Kate on sound effects: Movin' right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon) Tell me, which train now? Sticky, grabbing her arm as she walks toward the wrong one: No, not that one, it's set to visit Moscow
All, with Kate on sound effects, and still thoroughly enjoying it: Movin' right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon) Kate, to Reynie and Sticky: You take it, you know best Constance, in the background as the others confer: I still believe this is hopeless
Reynie, trying to move past Constance's snark: Movin' right along we're truly birds of a feather Kate, slinging an arm around his shoulders: We're in this together Sticky, joining in with an upbeat tone: And we know where we're going Reynie: Teamwork got us here, I really think we can do it! Kate: There's no reason to quit! Constance: Unless you count all of the danger Kate: Not helping
Reynie: Movin' right along, Hey, what does that sign say? Sticky: It says we're near the border, there's a customs delay Kate: Moving right along Reynie: (Thanks, Sticky) Footloose and fancy-free Kate: I think we're getting close Sticky: We've made it to Germany!
Together, celebrating that they've made it so far: Movin' right along Movin' right along Movin' right along Movin' right along

Actually you know what
I was gonna leave all this in the tags but I need to bring this bit here.
Hirsch's criticism of the Unicorn not being grateful for the "help" he gave her is far, far too much like the criticism disabled folks get when some "well-meaning" stranger "helps" them without stopping to ask if the help is even needed. I know people in wheelchairs that have been pushed somewhere they didn't want to go because someone just assumed they wanted to.
I'm not even blind but because I had a service dog a cashier assumed I was and grabbed my hand to move it to the pin pad when I was paying with my debit card! I have PTSD as a result of interpersonal trauma. A random stranger grabbing me like that could have gone SO wrong.
And if we get, rightfully, angry about being "helped" rather than expressing gratitude we're accused of being rude and unappreciative. It doesn't matter that the help wasn't asked for and wasn't even about US in the first place, just like the Wizard helping the Unicorn wasn't about her.
Following the author of The Last Unicorn on Facebook is the only thing that makes being on that site worthwhile.

#would you expect a tree to be grateful#that it was turned into a beautiful hand made dresser#rather than burned for fuel?#of course not#because we don't expect trees to have human feelings#likewise we don't expect the injured snow leopard to be grateful we placed it in a zoo#rather than letting it die slowly in the wild#we don't expect it to understand what is happening#the wizard saved her for his sake#not because she asked it of him#it was his feelings of distress he was trying to ease with his actions#why should she be grateful to someone for an action that only tangentially considered her in the first place?#we see this same attitude from people who get offended#when disabled folks are upset at recieving “help” they didn't ask for#a stranger comes along and “helps” a wheelchair user by pushing them across the street#but they didn't stop to ask if that person even wanted to cross in the first place#(yes this really happens more often than you think it's not even exagerated for affect)#i have blind/VI people who are constantly touched without consent#hell I'm no visually impaired at all but because I have a service dog a cashier once assumed I was#and grabbed my hand to move it to the pin pad of the Interac machine at the check out#my service dog was for PTSD!!!#random strangers touching me used to be a huge trigger for me#thankfully at the time I'd done a lot of therapy#and was left bemused rather than triggered#and yet we're yelled at for not being grateful because these folks meant well#even if we are left worse off as a result?

Have you ever thought of something in your own worldbuilding that you didn't intentionally plan, but just connect the dots afterwards like "wait, that actually checks out"?
Like in the story of the Book I Am Not Working On, there's the fisher folk. They don't fish, actually, they live in diaspora and nobody really knows why they're called that, anymore. They're more known for their numerous, strict and often seemingly random and nonsensical ritual purity rules, and stereotypically having absurdly large numbers of children. The twist is, they don't actually have more children than any other peoples of the Empire, their purity rules just ensure that they maintain higher levels of physical hygiene in everything to do with childbirth and handling infants - and therefore have a lower infant mortality than other peoples.
The "why do these people have huge families" thing also had another side: Fetishisation. The fisher folk's purity rules also involve no sex outside of marriage, and there's a myth on top of the stereotype that the reason why they seem to have a massive amount of kids is because their husbands are so good in bed that their wives cannot turn them down even if they're 100% done having kids. And since fisher folk do not have sexual relations outside of marriage, no outsider has had enough fisher dick to verify this.
But while they are loyal to partners, they are also polygamous, both ways around. A perfectly normal fisher marriage arrangement may feature a man and his two wives, and his second wife's first husband. One household may cover seven married partners, and all their mutual children. It's considered taboo to pry into which kids are "really" whose, paternity is unknowable and unless you were close enough to the family to know which one of the wives gave birth, the biological mother is none of your business either. Every partner in the marriage is equally a parent to each child born within it.
And this is where my own "wait hold on" comes in. Besides the lower mortality, the illusion of fishers having insane amounts of kids may also partially come from the way their families are structured. If you've just met a group of five people you don't know anything about, and they all claim that they have nine children each, it wouldn't cross your mind that they might all be claiming the same nine children.

the electric wiring in houses usually consists of phase and the neutral wire, my guys, don't forget about neutral wire
#context: fixing faulty wiring after lights were out at our warehouse.#the electrician we hastily called didn't bother to check the neutral wires. he he went looking for the phase and. well. it worked!#and he saw that secondary breaker my grandpa did back in the day and went. nah. fuck this. gimme money#we didn't have time for this anyway so dad sent him back#and he didn't even look up onto that this weird line of wires that are halfway rotten or burnt or oxidized. one is certainly ripped in half#(huh wonder whose wire it was...)#i called my friend who's not a certified electrician but electrician nonetheless to go through the second breaker#because we also didn't think about the neutral wire nor saw it being broken off because no one knows what the fuck is happening in the pane#and i honestly expected it to go like. maybe we'll see if the breaker's broken or it isn't but that crosses out good half of the reasons#and so be it because in that case the wiring's gone off somewhere in the walls#and then he went through the *external* breaker panel and went. you know what. that little broken wire on neutral. where does it go#and what in THEORY would happen if we connected it#...the lights turned on.#it was. our wire.#and the secondary and internal breaker? one that got us all confused about its purpose and whether or not it controls the lights?#didn't have anything to do with the lights.#in fact its purpose is rather good it protects the external breaker and by extension the wiring in general#because before the external breaker reached the current strength needed for it to snap off — the wires would be going up in flames#so the smaller ones in secondary breaker are required for faster reaction so if anything goes wrong it snaps off inside and not outside#the problem is that entire construction of that secondary breaker is ABYSMAL. It is steady yes but it's confusing as fuck#I am slightly nervous about the fix we made there to make it work cuz to do it more... reliable#we need to disconnect the entire floor and take out the lower wire and clean this off and possibly change a chunk of it#because even if we connected it back and pressed under the terminator it's already old as fuck.#it's going to break off in a different place sooner or later. it was our luck it broke off where it was obvious and easily fixable.#BUT. but. at worst it's gonna snap off someone's breaker due to spike or sudden drop of electric consumption#and. like. it's a neutral wire. it shouldn't do anything at all. + in the bad case of shitty luck it's gonna be *our* breaker that snaps of#interstellarvacuumcleaner

#tag talk#vent#wow okay so turns out my psychiatrist didn't ghost me she just put in the med refills without telling me#so I was waiting for her to message me back like a fucking idiot because expecting professional communication is apparently too much#I genuinely think I might cry I'm so fucking... not even mad. just incredibly let down#the autistic realization that you do in fact have to do everything yourself because you can't trust anyone to give you the support you need#you have to put in the extra work constantly just to survive because the environment is so incredibly hostile without even meaning to be#I didn't know I needed to check my prescriptions again. I didn't realize she would just add a refill without telling me.#the thought never crossed my mind. so I accepted my fate and experienced three weeks of hell#and I'm such a fucking doormat that the strongest word I could use to describe it to her was “interesting”.#I laughed and brushed it off like it was nothing because I was too afraid to say “I went through hell and you're responsible”#and I know my best option is to just suck it up and go back on the meds but I'm so fucking scared to#I'm so fucking scared of going back on. getting it in my system. and then somehow getting cut off again#scared of relying on anything but myself because I know it'll just let me down again#I genuinely felt the worst I've ever felt. not just physically. my brain was on fire.#my brain was burning and all I knew to do was endure the pain without saying anything.#because I didn't know that I should follow up. I didn't know how to navigate the system. and I suffered for it.#self advocacy is so necessary but it's so fucking difficult and scary#and I laugh and joke and pretend to be this confident easy-going careless persona when I'm really not#I'm fucking terrified of bothering people or upsetting them.#I had a whole grand speech in my head about how I would hold her accountable for this mistake#and then the moment came and all I could do was laugh it off out of fear.#and all I can do is cry about it and feel like a fucking failure#I know I should go back on the meds but I'm so fucking scared I don't want to feel like that ever again#I lost who I was. I lost my sense of self. my body stopped working in any of the ways it's supposed to#I've only just now come out of emergency power mode and I'm terrified of it happening to me again#I've been sleeping a ton recently. I'll wake up really early in the morning and then work on going back to sleep#my body is a machine and I've learned the proper input codes to make myself go to sleep#but I'm back to depression napping for 12-16 hours. entering recovery mode and trying to fix the damage I've experienced#I keep having really bad nightmares though. I know I need the sleep so I put up with it but it sucks so fucking much

I've been disabled for almost 29 years. Here's what I've learned.
Tablets sink and capsules float. Separate out your tablets and capsules when you go to take them. Tip your head down when taking capsules and up when taking tablets. Liquigels don't matter, they kinda stay in the middle of whatever liquid is in your mouth.
If your pill tastes bad, coat it with a bit of butter or margarine. I learned this from my mom, who learned it from a pharmacist.
Being in pain every day isn't normal. Average people experience pain during exceptional moments, like when they stub their toe or jam their finger in a door, not when they sit cross-legged.
Make a medical binder. Make multiple medical binders. I have a small one that comes with me to appointments and two big ones that stay at home, one with old stuff and one with more recent stuff.
Find your icons. Some of mine include Daya Betty (drag queen with diabetes), Stef Sanjati (influencer with Waardenburg syndrome and ADHD), and Hank Green (guy with ulcerative colitis who... does a bunch of stuff). They don't have to be disabled in the same way as you. They don't even have to be real people. Put their pictures up somewhere if you want; I've been meaning to decorate my medical binders with pictures of my icons.
Take a bin, box, bag, basket, whatever and fill it with items to cope with. This can be stuff for mentally coping like colouring books or play clay or stuff for physically coping like pain medicine or physio tape.
Decorate your shit! My cane for at home has a plushie backpack clip hanging from the end of the handle and my cane for going places is covered in stickers. All of my medical binders have fun scrapbooking paper on the outside. Sometimes, I put stickers and washi tape on my inhalers and pill bottles. I used my Cricut to decorate my coping bin with quotes from my icons, like "I've seen enough of Ba Sing Se" and "I need you to be angrier with that bell".
If a flare-up is making you unable to eat or keep food down, consider going to the ER. A pharmacist once told me that since my eye flares can make me so nauseous that I cannot eat, then I need to go to the hospital when that happens.
Cola works wonders for nausea. I have mini cans of Diet Pepsi in my coping bin.
Shortbread is one of the only things I can eat when nauseous. Giant Tiger sells individually-wrapped servings of shortbread around Christmas or the British import store sells them year-round. I also keep these in my coping bin.
Unless it violates a pain contract or something, don't be afraid to go behind your doctor's back to get something they are refusing you. I got my cardiologist referral by getting in with a different NP at my primary care clinic than who I usually saw. I switched from Seroquel to Abilify by visiting a walk-in.
If you have a condition affecting your abdomen in some way (GI issues, reproductive problems, y'know) then invest in track pants that are too big. I bought some for my laparoscopy over a year ago and they've been handy for pelvic pain days, too. I've also heard loose pants are good for after colonoscopies.
Do whatever works, even if it's weird. I've sat on the floor of the Eaton Centre to take my pills. I've shoved heating pads down my front waistband to reach my uterus.
High-top Converse are good for weak ankles. I almost exclusively wear them.
You can reuse your pill bottles for stuff. I use my jumbo ones to store makeup sponges and my long skinny ones to hold a travel-size amount of Q-Tips.
Just because your diagnostics come back with nothing, it doesn't mean nothing is wrong. Maybe you were checking the wrong thing, or the diagnostic tool wasn't sensitive enough. I have bradycardia episodes even though multiple cardiac tests caught nothing. I probably have endometriosis even though my gynecologist didn't see anything.
You can bring your comfort item to appointments, and it's generally a green flag when someone talks to you about it. I brought a Squishmallow turkey (named Ulana) to my laparoscopy and they had her wearing my mask when I woke up. I brought a Build-A-Bear cat (named Blinx) to another procedure and a nurse told me that everyone in the hall on the way to the procedure room saw him and were talking about how cute he was. Both of those ended up being positive experiences and every person who talked to me about my plushies was nice to me. If you don't feel comfortable having it visible to your provider during the appointment, you can hide it in your bag and just know it's there, or if you're in a video appointment, you can hold it below frame in your lap.
Get a small bucket, fill it with stuff, and stick it in your bed (if you have room for it). I filled a bucket with Ensure, juice boxes, oatmeal bars, lotion, my rescue inhaler, etc. in October 2023 in anticipation of my laparoscopy and I still have it in my bed as of January 2025.
If your disability impacts your impulse control (e.g. ADHD, bipolar disorder), you should consider setting limits around your spending -- no more than X dollars at a time, nothing online unless it's absolutely necessary, and so on. Or, run these purchases by someone you trust before committing to them; I use my BFF groupchat to help talk sense into myself when I buy stuff.
Feel free to add on what you've learned about disability!
