February is the month of love and as we all know, love doesn’t happen over night. Whether it is angst, sexual tension or pining we all love to be on the edge of our seat hoping and begging that they would finally get together. So, naturally this month theme was “Slow Burn” and these are our our monthly fanfic recommendations from our bangtanxm; bookclub!
In the following you find a list of fics we recommend and reviewed this month. Please support these amazing authors! With every monthly recommendation, there is also a drabble game that everyone can participate in. You’ll find the masterlist at the end of the reviews. Happy Reading!
BOOKCLUB; recommendations
TIDES WILL BRING ME BACK TO YOU by @sujigguk [aka @ftyoonmin]
— Summary; Fate is a funny thing. Humble fisherman, Yoongi, learns this when one evening, it's not a fish that sits at the end of his hook, but a bottle, containing a note claiming that a creature of the sea by the name of Jeongguk has been left stranded on land and is soon to draw his last breath.
bookclub; review
“This story immediately pulls you in with the amazing story-telling. Lou has a way of writing so beautifully detailed that it makes you imagine the amazing scenes in your head vividly. On top of that, it is a really heart wrenching love story, mixed with a wonderful fantasy theme of siren Jungkook and his fishermen Yoongi.” [@softjeon]
“Wow. So, Tides Will Bring Me Back to You has been on my to read list for quite a while. I regret my choices in not reading it until now. This fic was an absolute work of art. The singular amazing thing I want to point out is the attention to detail. So, we as readers expect fics to be good, especially AUs. Like we want some world building and detail so that we can visualize the setting and location and what is going on with the characters that are being put into this new world. This fic was able to do that but MORE. The attention to the setting detail was unbelievable. There was so much in terms of vivid descriptors and explanations that painted this super vivid and pretty image in my mind. I’m scared of the ocean to be honest, so I have never gone out on a ship beyond like, a lake. And have only ever seen the ocean from the safe confines of the beach. But because of the detail in this fic, I was able to visualize it so perfectly and vividly, it felt like I was really there.I really enjoyed Jungkook as well. Obviously he’s a gorgeous young man in real life, right? Which is why I liked this fic because it wasn’t this stunning perfect man from the waist up, you know? He had the scaly back, the webbed fingers, the sharp and kinda creepy teeth, etc. I think that this made it more “realistic”, as realistic as a mermaid fic can get of course, but like… I don’t know, it felt more real and added a layer of uniqueness to the fic that a lot of supernatural AUs tend to lack in fanfic terms. Also, the ending. Some might struggle with this because it was so ambiguous (no spoilers of course) but I really liked it. Though I’m sure the author had like a set “this is how it is” ending or explainer, I like that it’s this sort of grey area for readers to think on and figure out.” [anon]
“Omg, I really loved this fic. It's a bit longer than I normally read because work sort of keeps me away from reading more than writing haha but I really loved how Yoongi had this NEED to help a stranger he had no idea existed or not. Then to watch their love blossom that way and Yoongi protect Jungkook. It's also cute that Jungkook calls Yoongi 'My Yoongi' and Yoongi first thought it was a mispronunciation of his name. I do love mercreatures too, so that also drew me to this one. I loved the details and the tidbits of background we get from Yoongi and his love for the sea/sea creatures. Sorry, this is just all over the place.” [anon]
BABY BLUE by @chimknj
— Summary; Jimin is blue. He’s loyal to his customers and confident in everything he does. Namjoon is white. He’s pristine and maintains a perfect balance in life. When the two come together, they create baby blue, a color of freshness and something new. It’s new for both of them, but not all new things are bad.
bookclub; review
“What an amazing story! Even though Minjoon is basically already "together", although Namjoon is just paying Jimin to be there, it is just heartbreaking to read about how Jimin tries to get to know the other more, trying to get him out of his shell and falling in love while he is doing it. All while Namjoon tries to stick to his rules making it so much harder for Jimin, himself and the reader....cause damn!!! I could have screamed the characters sometimes and it literally hurt my hurt so much each time Namjoon pushed Jimin away ;; I can't.... I wanna cry just thinking about it again.” [@softjeon]
“...beautifully written plot, where you just want to punch Namjoon in the face until he finally reveals his true feelings.” [anon]
“I didn’t mean to consume over 70,000 words in one sitting. I honestly didn’t. Over a few days, over a week. Space it. But I knew I was lost at the end of chapter one, the same way Namjoon knew he was lost the second Jimin’s cute hands started unbuttoning his shirt after date night.Honestly. This fic had everything. I laughed a lot, I cried way more than I’d like to admit to, I had the urge to take a cold shower more than once, I wanted to take Joon by his perfectly ironed lapels and shake the ever-loving crap out of him. Honestly though, it felt like a full-length novel. I mean it was, by length, but also by content. The world that was created was beautifully devised and detailed, and everything from the various business names to the design of the apartments was so easy to visualize due to the richness of the descriptors. Personally, I appreciate that. It adds to the ‘movie playing in my head’ way that I like to read. The smut was unbelievably well written. It was sexy without feeling too unrealistically “porn film fantasy” if that makes sense. Like the progression felt natural and easy rather than being rushed or faked like some fics tend to do. It was clear the author did the required research in terms of D/s and wrote what felt very accurately.I loved the involvement of the other members, I think they all played really great, vital roles as side characters. And honestly, they were so rich in their own right that I would love spin offs about their own arrangements with their respective partners! The ending was absolutely sweet and perfect too. I spent the whole fic praying it’d end in a way that was satisfactory to my wrenching heart and I feel like it gave me every single thing I wanted and more.” [anon]
EVERYGREEN by @softjeon & @cassiavioletblue
— Summary; Yoongi felt that something was wrong the moment he had stepped foot into the garden. He hated that this sense of foreboding could mean anything and he had seen enough to have a very vivid imagination of what could wait in the bushes for him. His grip was tight and ruthless but when he felt he weight of something heavier he startled. In front of him on the grass, bloody and shaking was a deer hybrid; a boy, obviously younger than himself and apparently in a lot of pain.
bookclub; review
“Whuff. There's hybrid fics. And then there's THIS hybrid fic. I know that hybrid fics are one of those things you either love em or hate em, I honestly couldn't find a thing to dislike about this fic even if I tried. Firstly Yoongi as the grumpy on the outside (but squishy on the inside) raccoon is perfection. Imagining his markings and those growls and grumbles -- it's so endearing. And then there's JK who, a deer? Oh come on, I'm soft. Imagining him with the broken little antler and those soft, cute markings V_V It's tooth rotting, I swear. But for all the fluff and sweetness, there's this layer of angst and hesitation that makes this feel like such a deep, melancholy slowburn. The will they - won't they, the pull of each and push back, the "I can't" and "I want" -- GUH. Really, it's just so sweet and perfect.” [@kimlinebiased]
“I read Evergreen as it came out. It seemed like such a cute take on a trope that’s pretty common in our fandom, but one I’m less comfortable with, so I was really eager to see these authors’ take on it, since I knew I love their work already. The story opened up with action that sucked you in almost immediately, but it really balanced that with some slower, almost peaceful moments. I think that’s a really big draw of this story, really these authors overall, but this one in particular. They have a handle on the ebb and flow of the story. What I mean is, things happen and it’s exciting and oh god cliffhanger, but then things slow down and give the reader a second to breathe (but not too long, because then it would get boring). The balance between breathing space and action can be really hard to balance and I think these two do it really well. For this particular story, I think my favorite character is actually Namjoon. Sure, he doesn’t have a huge part, but I think he’s super well written and quite in character to the canonical person. (All of them are in their own way, but he sticks out to me). He’s so supportive but not afraid to tell Yoongi the truth even if it’ll sting. Further, he isn’t perfect. He lets his heart get in the way of his head sometimes (like with Jimin) and it makes him really endearing and realistic in a refreshing way. I think that he’s one of those absolutely indispensable characters in this particular world. Like sometimes, it’s easy to switch members, have x play y’s part, y play b’s part, etcetera. But I think that Namjoon’s part was written so perfectly, it fits him like a glove and made it really enjoyable when he was on the page. The plot has some things that the reader can “call” so to speak – like you might read and know there’s gonna be trouble for JK, he’s gonna get tangled up in the mess in some way, but even thinking you know, it’s still done in a way that it doesn’t take away from the enjoyment and “oh no” factor when the big climax does finally get rolling. Just like you know pretty sure, it’ll end happy, I still found myself worried about ‘well what if it doesn’t’. And I think that’s a testament to the authors, really. They are able to take these fanfic tropes and make them feel fresh and new, so even if you feel like you might know what will happen, the way that they weave the story together makes those emotions still hit in a really palpable way.I’d also like to discuss the overall setting of the story. There’s only a few locations that the readers really get a feel for, but particularly the cabin. I think that the descriptions of the cabin and forest and general development of the backstory and setting was really well done. Things like hybrid or other non-human AU’s can be really tricky to keep interesting but still give the right amount of backstory and description so that they aren’t confusing. We as readers need to know the rules, but not have a history textbook, and I think this fic really accomplished that as well.Overall, I just really enjoyed the feeling and emotions that this fic caused. I think that it was able to really convey some important messages while still being woven into a sweet, unique love story. [anon]
THE JUSTITIA PUGNATORES by ShoshinLaurels [AO3]
— Summary; When stable boy Park Jimin's best friend, crowned Prince Kim Taehyung finds himself under threat in his own palace, his guards dropping like flies, the only option left is to call on the Justitia Pugnatores, the 'Justice Fighters.'Three men boasting incredible skill and legendary pasts come barrelling through the heart of the palace, shaking everything in their wake.As the dilemma of the princes impending chances of murder only escalates, Jimin finds himself wrapped up in a mess of secrets, heartache and suspiscion. If only Min Yoongi didn't complicate things.
bookclub; review
“It's been a while since I read this, but I would happily read it in one sitting all over again. I'm a sucker for royal settings and I absolutely ADORED the dynamics of this one. It's just the right amount of angsty and fluffy, and keeps you hooked throughout.” [@sujigguk]
“Damn these apples! I really loved this fic out of various of reasons, the relationship between the characters are amazingly written, the setting and overall plot is so well thought out and it just has the perfect mixture between angst, fluff and comedy… i mean, just the first chapter had me laughing so much.” @softjeon
THE WAY GUCCI LOOKS ON YOU by @joonsrack
— Summary; “Funny how even in this ridiculously absurd situation, life had made Taehyung a third-wheel. Or a sixth. If Bangtan Dry Cleaning was his fairy godmother, Jimin his little mouse, the jacket his magic dress and the club scene his ball, where the fuck was his prince charming?A knock on the door pulled him out of his thoughts.”
bookclub; review
“So, this fic is really is so cute. I started in on it just casually, but found myself entirely sucked in and couldn't put it down until I'd read all that was written on it. Taehyung specifically is such an interesting character - his thought processes and sass are just perfect. I adore Jimin as well. And then there's Jungkook, who is so -INSUFFERABLY ARROGANT- but not in a way that makes you dislike him. He's still so endearing and you WANT these guys to just get off their high horses and kiss or something, but you also kinda want Tae to pour water into his lap because he's such a rich boy. I love it so much. I can't wait for the next part.” [@kimlinebiased]
“A story that could very well fit a movie! It’s everything you need on a sunday night! You laugh, you want to throw something at their rich faces and scream at the boys to just kiss already. A perfect Slow Burn!” [@softjeon]
“The way that Gucci look on you (amazing) is such an adorable and absurd (in the best way) slow burn. It’s a wip now, and I honestly cannot wait until the author updates. The case of mistaken identity is such a good trope that honestly, I feel, isn’t done enough. Especially not in such a cute and fun way. Of all the ways for Tae to get outed as not who he said he was – this one was epic. Of course, it’s a slowburn, so you expect the endgame ship to you know, not be huge fans of one another, but the tension here is so palpable, it is awesome. Taehyung cannot stand that cocky little JK and JK’s arrogance is both hilarious and infuriating. But there’s very clearly something deeper to him, and I really like that the author is able to make that clear through hints and clues, rather than just outright saying it. It adds a depth to JK’s character that often gets missed in fics, especially because we know these guys so well, so to speak. Having those sort of subtle nuances really adds to the overall enjoyability of the fic. I think Jimin is such a great supporting character too. He’s the perfect mix of Jiminy Cricket and devil in your ear, so to speak, and his personality comes off as so honest to who he is canonically. It makes him so fun to read. (And the YoonMinSeok trio is helpful as well, what can I say, soft spot for poly even in side pairings). All in all, it’s just an absolutely stunning fic so far and I can’t wait for the author to continue it.” [anon]
UKIYO by Sharleena [AO3]
— Summary; A story of tender tides and unmoving hummingbirds.
bookclub; review
“I'm almost halfway into this story but I really have to rec it cause wow...if you like mafia and urban fantasy themes then this is THAT fic for you listen succbus jimin, mafia leader yoongi, a damn deeply laced mystery that I can't EVEN FREAKING FIGURE OUT I usually can connect a few dots in mystery stories sometimes bUT THIS STORY IS KILLING ME there is someone yoongi is looking for that's destroying his gang and he like DOESN'T FREAKING EXIST and I know once I reach the end I'll be like IT WAS RIGHT FREAKING THERE IN MY FACE lmao but seriously the authors' worldbuilding skills is freaking legendary and I'm always hoe for mixing different themes together and the mix of urban fantasy and mafia just ugh freaking beautiful. The Slow Burn is real in his fic, yoonmins' dynamics are annoying and frustrating as heck but can be really sweet sometimes because they're both very broken individuals and they're trying to find comfort in one another. The themes are obviously very dark so carefully read the tags and also author notes in the beginning so you know what to expect but seriously it's so damn worth it and I will be personally putting a long feedback directly on their Ao3 as well when I'm done because i know I'm going to have lots more to say. BUT SERIOUSLY THIS IS THE SHIIIITTTT SO FAR SO GOOD SO DAMN GOOD I FEEL FED EVERYTIME I READ IT GIVE IT A READ WHEN YOU CAN!!” [@flowerwrites06]
FAKE SUGAR by minverse [AO3]
— Summary; "I guess," Jungkook pauses momentarily to inhale a deep, bracing breath, "I would just want you to come to my work events and laugh at my jokes and don't correct people if they imply that we're doing it.""Having sex, you mean," Jin clarifies gently, and Jungkook chokes on air. If his face was any redder, Jin would insist on taking him to the hospital. Jungkook clears his throat, obviously trying to play off the strangled, choked sound as a casual cough."Yes. Doing... sex."
bookclub; review
“I love a good concept for fic, and a face sugar dating au sign me up!!! honestly this is one of my all-time favourite fics, cos its not only funny and entertaining but it has so much heart!!! like i just love the vibe of the fic, and i wish i could keep reading it forever. Plus the characters are so like-able and feel so human. Also jinkook holds a special place in my heart, and jk being all shy in the beginning and jins confidence is an unmatched pairing!!! EVERYONE JUST READ IT, ITS SO FUCKING GOOD, okay im done now sorry…" [@tinysweetscrown]
“I read this a while ago, and also everything else by minverse... Everything they write is gold, the character construction, the dialogue, the relationship/chemistry, the humour, the plots...just everything. Fake Sugar kept me up at night with its brilliance and originality, i couldn't get enough of jin and jungkook's relationship, but also all the other members' interaction and storyline. It's expertly written and i sincerely think everyone should read it, if they have not already.” [anon]
“Aaaaaah i love this so much!!! I absolutely love the characterisation of jin!!! I find it very refreshing! In some ways it’s completely /jin/ yet in others it’s such a nee and fun way of describing him (the fact that hes a competition eater absolutely sends me its just. So! Jin!) i also love jungkook!!! Tiny gay babie kook having to impress ppl he doesnt want to impress and getting competitive over that dindjdjd once again i could genuienly see it happening! And oh boy oh boy am i excited to see how this story pans out! The little appearances by the rest of bangtan as well i love it! It all flows very naturally and none of the cameos feel forced or anything. AND JIMIN UDJDJDJD I LOVE HIM. the fact that hes just a chaotic brat having dumpster sex and causing trouble oh my god im still crying jsbsjsnjs.” [anon]

Case #0161210
i have been egged on to post this so! here’s what i consider my tma oc’s first real involvement with everything going on. it’s formatted like a statement but pretty much everything else i post here about them will be in my more traditional writing style
tws: mentions of trans/nbphobia, people acting uncanny, animal harm/death (no pets), kidnapping, cannibalism
EDIT: here’s the ao3 link if you wanna read it there!
-- -- --
Avery
You’re sure this isn’t too much of an inconvenience? I-I don’t have to talk about it. You probably still have more statements to get through.
Archivist
If you ask me that one more time, I won’t take statements from you ever again.
Avery
Christ, alright, I’ll stop. At least I won’t get in trouble, ‘cause I got everything assigned to me done already…
Archivist
Aren’t you fast.
Avery
It’s a blessing and a curse. Curse in that I get chewed out if I’m caught fucking around on the office computer.
Sorry, sorry, getting off topic. I’ll make the statement now.
Archivist
Statement of Avery Linwood, a finance worker in the Magnus Institute, regarding their time living in the rural town of Crestfallen, between the spring of 2014 and the summer of 2016. Statement taken direct from subject, December 10th, 2016. Statement begins.
Avery
Man, okay. So, as you can probably tell, I’m not from England. I was born and raised in America, Wisconsin to be specific. I graduated college in 2009 because I had to get 150 credits to qualify for CPA exams--although I guess in the end it did jack shit, ‘cause I only ended up staying in the U.S. for five years.
Archivist
Sorry, could you clarify what a CPA is?
Avery
Oh! I-it stands for Certified Public Accountant. It basically means that I can provide accounting services to the public alongside working for companies. And since I’m here now instead of my home state, I have to do continuing education if I wanna keep that license active. I guess it makes sense, but it’s still extra work, y’know?
Sorry, getting off topic again. I feel like that’s gonna be a theme for this statement.
Archivist
I’ve had my fair share of ramblers. I’m guilty of it too.
Avery
I mean, still. Anyway, that shit kinda drove me into the ground. I never managed to get enough money to rent a decent office space so I could be independent, and the closest I ever got to that was working in assurance services. I would’ve stayed in forensic accounting, but every office I was in had a terrible culture. One of my ex-bosses told me that I, quote unquote, “had too big of a rack” to be anything but a girl. So...yeah.
Archivist
And I assume this is why you left?
Avery
Pretty much. I wasn’t too keen on moving anywhere inside the U.S., everywhere was either too bigoted or too expensive or too crowded...you get the picture. I guess I just wanted something different, something where I didn’t need to sit in an office all day and handle people’s taxes or whatever. I’ve always loved those kinda video games where you move to some old farmhouse and clean it up, start taking care of crops and livestock, making friends with the townspeople...it was a form of escapism I could never really afford--honestly, unless you’re a big dairy farmer, you’re not gonna get anywhere stable in Wisconsin.
I don’t know how I found my way to Crestfallen. I think I saw a post on Tumblr about how, if you promise to restore an ancient castle--the ones that’re all over Europe--you can live in it for free, and there was a link to some website where you could register to do that. I guess it held more than castles, though, ‘cause I saw a section for old farmhouses. The one in Crestfallen was the cheapest, and apparently I would even get a financial reward from the mayor if I helped out enough. It was a moment of weakness, I guess.
I don’t tell my parents a whole lot of stuff anymore unless they ask, but I felt the need to tell them I was moving to a different country. They must’ve seen it as odd, but they knew I wasn’t doing too well in my...current line of work. They gave me their well wishes and I left for England.
I guess the first thing that tipped me off was getting there. I didn’t think anything of it, but when I told the bus driver--coach driver for you guys--where I was going, he seemed...surprised. He didn’t know the place at first, that it wasn’t even on his map. I pointed it out on my phone, and he said that the nearest stop was Billingham in County Durham. I said that was fine, that I could probably catch a taxi the rest of the way. I don’t know if he believed me, but either way, he accepted my ticket and I boarded. There wasn’t anything unusual about the ride up, and at the time, I just guessed he didn’t know because the town was so small.
When I finally arrived in Billingham, I managed to flag a taxi down and asked the driver to go to Crestfallen. He also seemed surprised, but it must’ve been for completely different reasons. Whatever they were, he shoved it down and told me it was going to be a fairly expensive taxi ride. That was fine by me, I had already converted all of my money to pounds anyway. So I loaded my luggage and got in the back.
Thankfully, he kept silent most of the way through. He told me when we were about five minutes away from the stop, and followed it up by telling me that if I wanted to turn back now, he wouldn’t charge me anything.
I realized what he meant: I had been paying attention to my book and not to the town itself, which was covered in a heavy fog. I hadn’t noticed any fog when I got to Billingham; the skies were clear all day. Maybe it was just foggy west of the bus route and Billingham--I wanted to get away from my old life so desperately that I was denying any possibility that my new life would be worse.
I shook my head and said that I was staying. The taxi driver laughed, a short, almost bitter laugh. Told me that I was gonna die in Crestfallen one way or another before he dropped me off. I paid him and took my luggage, still questioning what exactly he meant.
The odd thing was that, after I stepped off, the fog had lifted. I mean, the sky was still overcast, but I could see clearly. I was in this...little clearing, with a path that presumably led to the town, and another one apparently leading to the farm. A man was waiting in the clearing, and he approached me. Said he was the mayor, and that he wanted to show me to the farm.
I had already expected the farm to be a mess, honestly. I saw the pictures. There were scattered branches and stones throughout the farmland, wild grass growing everywhere...if there was even a previous owner, they must’ve left a long time ago. I wanted to ask the mayor, but he just ignored me. At the time, I thought he was just busy and that he had better things to do. He gave me a random bag of seeds and told me my tools were in the farmhouse. And then he just left.
I wish I could tell you more, but I just can’t remember a good chunk of my time there. My therapist is pretty sure it’s a symptom of my PTSD, which...if there’s even more traumatic memories my brain has blocked out, that’s scarier than anything I can remember.
Everything was just so uncanny. Most of the people always moved around like robots, their eyes glazed over, until I talked to them. And then they were all too perky. Even the people I were told were grumps acted like it. There were things that were superficially different about them, but they all acted so similarly, it felt like some sort of hive mind. I don’t know if that’s what was going on, and honestly, I don’t want to find out.
I say most of the people, because there were two I felt like I could trust. There was a huge lake on the outskirts of the town, and these two people lived on the beach. One of them lived in a small cabin, her name’s Odelia Stevens. She’s a writer, and she had gotten herself in the unfortunate situation where she couldn’t afford to move out, once she realized what was going on with the town. The second was an old fisherman living by the docks, his name was Langdon Averill. I’ll...get to why I say “is” for Odelia and “was” for Langdon later.
I think meeting them was the thing that kept me from falling into the town’s clutches. They were considered outcasts, and the town seemed to pretend like they didn’t exist. I never saw any of them go to the beach, and when one of them tried to talk to me after I left, they would tell me I just appeared out of nowhere.
I didn’t end up farming much. I would buy from the general store, at first, but when I harvested the crops, they were...god, I can’t think of the words. They were mangled and sickly, even though I knew the soil at least looked good. The seeds the mayor gave me, I think they were supposed to be parsnips, but the leaves were so shriveled, and the parsnips themselves were hard and spotted, and they were so small. When the mayor came to my farm to gather the harvest, I didn’t know whether or not to give...any of what I’d grown to him. But he saw them and he was overjoyed. He took one of those parsnips and bit right into it, dirt and spots and all. And he loved it! The only things that really prospered was food that I foraged from a nearby forest, and that became pretty much my entire diet. I took a sample of the soil from the farm; I have it with me if you want to keep it for testing or something.
Odelia and Langdon told me a lot about the other townsfolk, mostly so I wouldn’t outwardly freak out. I learned that they hate that the hard way--I once saw a child, couldn’t have been more than ten years old, shove a live robin down his throat and swallow it. I screamed, and the child’s mother descended on me, scratching me with her nails. Even though they were short, they were almost deadly sharp. I still have the scars on my cheek. She was screaming at me, over and over, screaming that he was just having a snack. It must’ve drawn the attention of the other townsfolk, because I could hear more voices yelling at me, telling me that I would be cooked in “his pot,” whatever that meant. Suddenly, the clock in the center of town rang and, like a reset button, they all stopped and went back to their usual activities. Thankfully, I had already met the two at the beach, and Langdon patched me up in his house.
I learned that they ate live birds a lot. They really seemed to like raw meat, flies or rotting be damned. I liked my meat, still do, but at least I cook it first. They would eat raw chicken and vomit in the streets afterwards. I never saw anyone die, funnily enough.
They had celebrations every so often. I hadn’t properly learned from Odelia and Langdon yet, so I went to the first one in the spring. I think it was something for Easter, but all they did was crack a bunch of eggs in this huge pot and take turns drinking spoonfuls from it. When I declined, I could feel that they wanted to attack me, but something prevented them from ending the celebration in bloodshed.
After that first spring, I spent a lot of my time at the beach and in the forest. The forest wasn’t completely free of the townsfolk, as one of them ran a ranch near the edge of that, but I needed it for food. Eventually, Langdon taught me how to fish--I couldn’t exactly subsist on wild leeks and berries forever. It was a nice way to pass the time.
By that first winter, though, things started to change. So long as snow covered the ground, the townsfolk would come in the night and write things in it. Sometimes I wouldn’t see them if the snow covered it up, but otherwise...it was always things about how I had betrayed their father, more references to his pot, that I would melt and cook while they feasted on my bones with said father. I wish I could remember more, Jon, I’m sorry.
Archivist
Do you remember anything else?
Avery
Well...sometime around the first fall, Odelia taught me how to make seeds out of the food and flowers I foraged. That was how I knew it wasn’t the soil that made the crops suffer, the seeds that I had made turned out fine--sometimes they were even better than what I had foraged. I ended up farming more for myself over anything, even though one of the points on that ad was that I had to be generous and donate some of my crops to the townspeople. I doubted it would make them happy, though. And I don’t really like hurting or killing people unless they’re actively attacking me or other innocent people; if my crops were going to poison the town, I didn’t want to risk anything. Chances are it would’ve just made them madder.
I tried to raise some chickens, though. Despite how much I didn’t want to interact with either of these people, I asked the carpenter to make a coop, and I got some chickens from the man running the ranch. By all accounts, they acted like normal chickens, and I tried to feed them good hay by harvesting the grass, but their eggs were still terrible: gray yolks, incredibly thin whites...I love scrambled eggs, but I could never use those. I eventually sold the chickens back to the ranch and had the coop taken down after a few months in the summer. I didn’t even want to try raising cows.
I wanted to leave so badly by the time that second winter rolled around. While Odelia and Langdon would often visit me and we would spend time on my farm or in the forest, by that time there was some odd force preventing them from leaving the beach. I witnessed it myself; anytime they would approach that border of trees separating the beach from the rest of the town, it was like they got...stuck. I don’t know if you play video games, but you know when you reach the border of the game map, and you just can’t go any further despite there not being anything physical stopping you? It looked like that. I could come and go as I pleased, but it was like...like the townspeople had rejected their existence so hard they couldn’t even penetrate the town they had constructed so carefully.
I think the final straw for the townspeople was late spring, the last year I was there. They had this sort of dance deep in the thick of the forest, apparently only accessible when the dance was going on. One of the men around my age there was the town doctor--which I doubt he was actually licensed to practice medicine, since I don’t even think he was thirty at the time--and he asked me to go to the dance. I’d never been asked before, in Crestfallen or in general, but I really didn’t want to go. I had no idea what kind of fucked up shit would happen there, and I didn’t want to find out. So I said no.
That night, just before I was about to go to bed, my door was broken down. I don’t remember how many people were there, but it was definitely the doctor and at least four other people. They descended on me like vultures, only instead of eating me they were savagely beating and kicking me. I was crying, and...sorry, hold on a second.
Archivist
Take your time.
Avery
[They nod, silently wiping tears away from their face]
Sorry, I...I have a bad habit of going nonverbal when I start crying. That, and I sound incomprehensible when I try to talk, and that’s especially bad considering you’re recording this. Anyway, I think one of them brought a bat down on my head, and I was knocked unconscious. I woke up the next morning in this weird white dress and a flower crown on my head. I could feel thorns on the stems threatening to pierce my already sensitive head. As my vision came into focus, I could see that my hands and feet were bound with rope. Actually, I wasn’t wearing anything but that dress, but when I tried to ask where my clothes had gone, I...I couldn’t make words with my mouth. Just a gentle sigh. It was a moment later that I saw the doctor holding my clothes, all neatly folded, approaching a blazing bonfire. Before I could even try to yell out, he threw them into the flames and turned towards me, watching me with cold infatuation as my clothes burned away.
Soon enough, the mayor approached me and grabbed my wrists, pulling me to the center of what looked to be the actual dancing part of the area. It was from here that I could see the whole field: the bonfire in the middle, separating what looked to be a buffet from the dancing. Various townspeople were milling around the buffet or looking at the bonfire, but when the mayor whistled, everyone turned to face me instantly.
They must’ve all known what would happen, because without a word or even a gesture from the mayor, the doctor stepped forward and grabbed my hands in his own. I tried to look at the ground, but the mayor held a hand under my chin so I would look my apparent dance partner in the eyes.
I hated every second of it. I was basically just getting tossed around, since I couldn’t move my feet. I could hear the townspeople chanting and playing instruments, but it wasn’t anything I could decipher. That or I just can’t remember, I wouldn’t be surprised at this point. Slowly, more people joined in on the dance, although from the snippets I could see, their dance was totally different than whatever the doctor was doing to me.
It felt like hours, but the sun’s position hadn’t even moved in the sky when the dance was done and I was released. I didn’t get much time to relish it, though, because I was knocked unconscious again. When I woke up, it was night, and I was lying naked on top of my bed.
I knew at that point that I had to get out of there. But I didn’t want Odelia and Langdon to be trapped either. I needed to do something. God, I can’t believe I forgot to mention this, but the entire time I was there, I could never get a signal on my phone. And it wasn’t like I had run out of data or anything, I was on a by-the-gig plan at the time. At least I wasn’t wasting my money, but it still frustrated me. Most of my days after that dance were spent walking all around the town limits, trying in vain to even get one bar. I’d downloaded one of those rideshare apps forever ago, but I never used it, and I figured now would be the best time to see if anyone could show up. I didn’t have much faith, considering my previous experiences getting to Crestfallen, but dammit, I had to try. I did not want to die in this place, and I didn’t want Odelia or Langdon to either.
I know you’re probably wondering why I didn’t just walk the road back to where I came, but to be honest, I didn’t want the townspeople following me. None of them had cars, as far as I knew, maybe a motorcycle owned by one person, but I still feared that they could track us down anyway. Plus, I didn’t want to get turned around and end back up in Crestfallen again. So, I figured calling someone over would be the best solution. I really didn’t want to rope anyone else into this mess, but it had the highest chance of succeeding in my eyes. And well, I’m here right now.
I finally got two bars on May 31st. See, part of Crestfallen is on a huge hill, and on the peak of that there’s a train that comes through--no stops, unfortunately, and I never heard or saw one go by while I was living there. Either way, it was there that I finally found a signal. So, I told my plan to Odelia and Langdon: that as soon as I found a way to get them out of the beach and onto the single road that went out of Crestfallen, we were leaving. Langdon seemed more hopeless than Odelia, but they both eventually agreed.
As it turned out, Odelia was on her high school’s swim team, and she had kept that up. She found that, so long as she swam to where the river flowing through Crestfallen emptied into the lake and kept her body underwater the entire time, she could escape into the rest of the town. With the added bonus of this river emptying out in the forest, she and Langdon could have some secrecy coming up. Meanwhile, I could take their luggage beforehand and keep it at my house until they were ready to go.
They were ready June 7th. The three of us stood at the top of the hill, Odelia and Langdon soaked, while I got someone to pick us up. Once the ride was approved, we raced back down to my house to get our luggage and wait for our driver. Unfortunately, the rest of the town seemed to have picked up on our plan.
Five minutes before our driver got there, we could see a mob approaching us, and they had weapons. Crude ones, but I could see kitchen knives glinting in people’s hands, sharpened sticks and stones and bats. They didn’t want to just beat us up this time; they were either going to indoctrinate us or kill us.
Despite his age, Langdon was surprisingly good at defending us against the mob. While we were able to avoid things being thrown at us, and at a couple points we threw them back to keep individual members from attacking us, Langdon was actively keeping them away with his suitcase. Two minutes before our driver got here, he was able to wrestle a butcher’s knife from a woman’s hand--the same woman that clawed my face so long ago. It felt like slow motion, watching him throw the knife right in the center of the woman’s forehead.
As she collapsed into a heap, the mob paused. They looked at the dead woman, and their faces contorted into anger. One of them cried out, and the mob descended on him just as the driver pulled up. Langdon screamed at us to save ourselves, and Odelia pulled me into the car. As she told the driver to go as fast as she could, I watched helplessly as the mob tore chunks from Langdon, and he screamed in pain as they ate his flesh.
When the driver dropped us off at the bus station, I gave her a five star rating and a tip that basically doubled the cost of the ride. She didn’t sign up to see a man be cannibalized, so it was the least I could do for potentially traumatizing her.
As we waited, I asked Odelia if Langdon sacrificing himself was something he planned. She shook her head, but she did remember hearing him say that he would rather he die on this mission over either of us, his rationale being that he was just an old fisherman, that we had more potential than he did out in the rest of England. I don’t know if he was right, but I can’t exactly change the past.
When the bus drove up, we boarded. I ended up sleeping most of the way down, which gave Odelia the chance to rest her head on my shoulder. Even though it was on a bus, it was the most comfortable I slept in the longest time. She must’ve had family or something in Liverpool, since that was where she requested to be dropped off. At first, I didn’t really know where I wanted to go. I didn’t know what to do with myself anymore; all of my plans for the future had been dashed by Crestfallen. I ended up telling the bus driver to bring me to Greenwich, since it seemed far enough away from the center of London that I wouldn’t be overwhelmed. I applied for temporary housing there while I looked around for jobs to tide me over. It took about a month for me to get my own place, and as you probably know, I got a job here in August.
Archivist
That’s...certainly a lot. Do you have any way of contacting Odelia to perhaps get her perspective on Crestfallen?
Avery
I have her number, yeah. Though I’m not sure how willing she’d be to talk to you about it, considering whenever I’ve tried to bring up her time in Crestfallen, she doesn’t want to talk about it.
Archivist
Well, I suppose that’s understandable. As much as I would want to send someone up there to investigate, it would likely take a day at least, and if your claims are true, it would be very dangerous for--
Avery
What, you don’t believe me?
Archivist
You said yourself that you don’t remember a whole lot. But considering some of the...more horrific things you’ve told me about Crestfallen, I don’t want to think about what’s been blocked from your memory due to trauma.
Avery
I...I guess. I wouldn’t want anyone going out there either. Not without a weapon, and I doubt you can have those on public transportation.
Sorry. It’s just...wanting to tell someone about this was part of the reason why I applied to work at the Institute. Not all of it, but...I was kind of worried you wouldn’t believe me if I was some stranger. Although, I guess now’s not much better.
Archivist
[Sighs] Avery, I know I might act like I do, but I don’t hate you. I’m not around you enough to hate you.
Avery
I have a feeling you will if you get to know me better. It happens a lot. [Sighs, getting up from chair] Well, if that’s all you need from me, I should go.
Archivist
For now, yes. I’ll reach out if I need additional information.
Avery
Cool. [Footsteps, door opens then closes]

Despite the...awkward ending to that statement, Avery has been surprisingly cooperative in regards to follow-up questions. They asked Odelia Stevens if she could come in and give a statement, but apparently her work schedule would make that difficult. However, Avery has arranged a video call with her and myself, so maybe she’ll be able to give us some more insight.
As it turns out, Crestfallen is a registered town in County Durham, despite there being very little information about...anything involving it, really. I don’t know how I could convince anyone to go there, even if they don’t know about it. I don’t think I could live with myself if I did that.
I really don’t know all that much about Avery, now that I think about it. As much as I don’t want to trust them, I’ve been trying to let my paranoia go. It’s strange, you’d think knowing them less would give me more reason to be paranoid about their intentions, but...quite the opposite, really. I don’t know what motivation they’d have for faking something on this scale, especially when their job is so removed from the more paranormal aspects of working here.
I just don’t know. And I don’t know if that’s a sign I should get to know them better, or keep them at arms’ length.
Recording ends.

“🎧 + ALL THE MUSES!!! (if too many then Hawkeye, and Micheal thank you)
Send “🎧 + a muse” and I’ll pick a song from my playlist that reminds me of them!
(It’s never too many! XD Also you didn’t ask for explanations but you’re gonna get ‘em anyway.)
MICHAEL: For You Only by Trading Yesterday
This song makes me thing about the despair and loneliness that Michael felt when he fell from heaven, for being separated from god is an emotional and devastating experience for an angel. He fell on a dark, cold, rainy night, which certainly did not help. He wonders if his actions have made him irredeemable in god’s eyes and wonders if he will ultimately be grated mercy, but in the meantime, he’s far away from home and has to focus on that. No matter how much he wants to go back to the heavens, he’s on earth now and he’s made his choice to defy his orders. But where most might thing that puts him at odds with god, on his end it is actually because he loves god so much that he defied the order he was given. God lost faith in man, his special creation that he once loved so much. In loving god, Michael wants to restore that faith god has lost, and to prove him wrong that man is beyond salvation. To do that, he has to defy him in the meantime, and that means a painful sacrifice and a lot of fear and sadness on Michael’s end.
VERIDIAN: Icarus by Mythos
This song has a light and playful energy, which reminds me of innocent Veridian playing in the ocean and seeing the sights. But as the song goes on, the key modulates up and up, the pace becomes more tense, the notes slightly more dissonant, and it seems like the energy changes from light and playful to foreboding. That combined with the title of the song, Icarus, and the nature of that character, facing doom because he flew too close to the sun, makes me thing of Veridian ultimately getting too curious about humans and not thinking enough about his safety. He’s much too trusting and innocent and doesn’t realize the dangers until it’s too late and he’s stuck in some fisherman’s net or being caught to populate a zoo of some kind.
MARIE SEBASTIAN: Destiny by Roque Banos and the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra (Oldboy 2013 OST) (Specifically from 0:00 to 1:55)
*sigh* This song, heh. This whole story, really. It’s so heartbreaking. Marie is a very deep, serious, and tragic character, and the first two minutes of this song (which is essentially the main emotional theme of the movie) evokes the same sort of mood in me. If I ever lack muse to write Marie, all I have to do it listen to this and I am instantly wanting to write her. It’s so moving and creates the same just... heartfelt and painfully tragic mood that the story of her character evoked in me when watching the movie. Also the way the movie was left was so raw and unresolved, especially from her point of view, and this song has the feeling of sweeping sorrow that I attributed to that atmosphere at the end of the movie.
MARTHA: Marcy’s Song by John Hawkes (Martha Marcy May Marlene 2011 OST)(full version)(in-movie version)
So... John Hawkes is an actor who just happens to also be a very good musician as well. He played Patrick, the “cult” leader in Martha’s canon movie, Martha Marcy May Marlene. Now... while I hate his character SO MUCH, I can obviously separate the actor from the character and say that this song is actually quite beautiful and haunting. But anyway, in the movie, Patrick writes and plays this song for Martha. It’s her song, so you might be wondering why it’s not called “Martha’s Song.” So all the names in the movie titles are all of Martha’s identities. Part of living at this commune, which was a cult even if the word was never said, was an erasing and muddying of one’s identity. Her real name is Martha, but shortly after arriving, Patrick says she looks like a Marcy May. That then becomes her name that everyone there calls her. Marlene is the name all women at the commune were to give when they answered the phone. Anyway, this song makes me think of Martha not only because it’s in the movie and the words are really uncomfortably relevant to her situation, but also because the somberness of it and the acoustic, raw, homegrown feel of it seem to fit with her hippie-like way of life.
CLINT BARTON (especially Endgame Clint to Natasha): Leave Out All the Rest by Linkin Park
This makes me think of Ronin, Clint’s alter-ego during the five years after the snap. As angry as he was, I think some part of Clint was disappointed in himself for what he became and just degrading that far in general, especially with regard to having to look Natasha in the eye afterward. I think he admired her for continuing to keep up what was left of the Avengers and felt like, if anyone was going to see the good in him going forward after he had done all these terrible things, it would be her. So this song makes me think of him clinging to some hope that Natasha of all people would still care for him and miss him if something ever happened to him. Sad irony that she then ended up being the one to die. =(
NATASHA ROMANOFF: I am Criminal by Eric Serra (feat. Mitivaï Serra)(Anna 2019 OST)
The whole atmosphere of this movie and the character of Anna reminded me of Natasha in so many ways, but the lyrics and haunting nature of this song I feel also capture her more enigmatic side. On the one hand, the song is warning those listening to stay away because “I’m powerful” and “I’m a criminal” and keeping others at a distance by saying “don’t catch me, it’s impossible/I warn you,” but on the other hand the singer is begging for some kind of reassurance that she’s still a person worth caring about, “don’t tell me i’m irreversible.” There is also an element of feeling like one is beyond redemption, “and the role I play, so dark and gray, there’s never hope it will ever end.” I feel like that really rings true with Natasha’s guilt regarding the fact that “I’ve got red in my ledger.” There’s just so much in this song that suggests someone who wants to keep others at arm’s length but at the same time longs for something different and to be something different, which is at the heart of Nat’s character.
TONY STARK (especially Endgame Tony): Hero by Nickelback
So aside from the obvious references to being high and flying which fit him well, this makes me think about his time in space where he was just alone and basically waiting to die, and just everything he was thinking about during that time. Up that high, you might feel really close to heaven, but I don’t think Tony would think that heaven really cared about him. But then after he gets back to earth, the whole end confrontation with Thanos... I feel like Tony really doesn’t think of himself as a hero at all. He thinks he’s made too many mistakes, has too many flaws, so people are waiting for a hero to save everyone but you know what, I’m just gonna do it anyway in the meantime, heh. That’s the vibe I get from it. And then to get super painful on everyone now, the lines “Now that the world isn’t ending, it’s love that I’m sending to you. It isn’t the love of a hero, and that’s why I fear it won’t do,” I imagine are to Pepper after he uses the gauntlet and is dying, and maybe even his holographic message after that. Like basically, I’m not perfect but I love you and I did my best, and maybe that wasn’t what a hero would do and it’s not enough, but it’s all I got. Aaaaand I gave myself a sad on that one, heh. Ouch.

Launchpad’s Association With Della Duck: Ballads of Dangerous Chemistry
Part 1 | Part 2 || Part 3 | Part 4| Part 5 || Continued from Part 6
One of the many things I've noticed in DuckTales is that certain elements from earlier episodes tend to return in the later portion of the season. Sometimes as a running gag or an Easter egg, but other times, they end up revealing to be an important concept that's extremely relevant to the story.
The Season 1 finale was a good example of this: The boys hijacking Donald's Houseboat in the pilot to go to Cape Suzette comes back as Donald wanting to move there when the boys no longer want anything to do with Scrooge. The bag of marbles Scrooge gave the boys when they first arrive to the mansion comes back as a way for Scrooge to reminisce about having them around. The silly cutout of Gyro from "Beware of The B.U.D.D.Y System!" is seen floating around in the underwater lab after the area was destroyed by the shadows.
Sometimes it doesn't even take that long for the early elements to reappear; they can be contained within the episode itself by giving us hints in the very beginning of it and later come into play towards the ending. Scrooge was right from the start when he blamed Glomgold in "The 87 Cent Solution!" and the ending of the Darkwing Duck series finale basically foreshadowed the entirety of "The Duck Knight Returns!". If Della paid attention as she was attempting to fix the rocket on her own, she would have known about Gold Tech way ahead of time.
Two years ago at the D23 Expo, it was announced during the DuckTales panel that Duckworth was already shown, but no one had found him yet. Many of us searched around for the butler dog and every character we guessed was rejected by the show-runners. It wasn't until "McMystery at McDuck McManor" that Duckworth was revealed to be the ram-headed spirit we've been seeing in the intro! The answer to the mystery was right there in front of our faces! But we didn't realize it because the appearance of the person we were looking for was altered.
Bᴇғᴏʀᴇ Dᴜᴄᴋᴡᴏʀᴛʜ’s ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟ, ʜᴇ ᴡᴀs ʜɪɴᴛᴇᴅ ᴀᴛ ᴀ ᴄᴏᴜᴘʟᴇ ᴛɪᴍᴇs ᴡʜᴇʀᴇ ʜɪs ʟɪᴋᴇɴᴇss ᴡᴀs ᴏʙsᴄᴜʀᴇᴅ: Tʜᴇ ɢʜᴏsᴛ ᴄʜᴀsɪɴɢ ᴛʜᴇ ᴋɪᴅs ɪɴ Mʀs. Bᴇᴀᴋʟᴇʏ’s sʜᴏʀᴛ , ᴛʜᴇ ᴘʜᴏᴛᴏɢʀᴀᴘʜ ᴏғ ᴀ ғʟᴏᴀᴛɪɴɢ ᴏʀʙ ᴏғ ʟɪɢʜᴛ ᴏɴ Wᴇʙʙʏ’s ʙᴏᴀʀᴅ
Sᴛʀᴀɴɢᴇʟʏ ᴇɴᴏᴜɢʜ, Lᴀᴜɴᴄʜᴘᴀᴅ ᴡᴀsɴ'ᴛ ᴘʀᴇsᴇɴᴛ ɪɴ "MᴄMᴀɴᴏʀ" ᴀᴛ ᴀʟʟ ᴅᴇsᴘɪᴛᴇ ʟɪᴠɪɴɢ ɪɴ ᴀ sᴇᴄᴛɪᴏɴ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴀɴsɪᴏɴ' s ɢᴀʀᴀɢᴇ...
This proves that we don't always have to look too far to figure things out, so, after thinking about amnesia, I had to take another look at "The Ballad of Duke Baloney!". It features a confirmed case of the condition and a good example of applying one similar character to another.
The episode begins with a flashback to the happenings of "The Shadow War!", a pretty significant event. Glomgold fails to prevent his shadow from flying off and ends up falling into the marina. He loses consciousness and is eventually found by two fishers, trapped in their fisher net. He can no longer remember the whole ordeal that caused him to take on his false Scottish persona and reverts back to who he used to be: Duke Baloney.
The name Duke Balony, derives from a completely different character named The Duke of Baloni. He comes from an old Carl Barks story that predates Glomgold's character and was the first to be titled "Second-Richest Duck in the World". The show-runners used this similarity as a part of giving an in-universe explanation to why Flintheart Glomgold went from South African like he was in the earlier Scrooge McDuck comics, to Scottish like he was in the original DuckTales series.
Four months later, after Flintheart is reported to have gone missing, Webby and Louie stop by Bait 'N' Such to find him as a completely different person: His demeanor is much kinder, he talks with a different accent, he sports a real beard and now wears a fisherman outfit.
Speaking of which, Duke and LP share a lot of similar colors. Even Young Duke wears teal and green; something that was mainly exclusive to both Launchpad and Della.
The kids aren't exactly sure what to think. Was this really Glomgold? Or were they mistaking a random stranger for him? Was he genuinely suffering from amnesia? Or was this another one of his crazy schemes? As they try to figure out his true intentions, they discover Duke has a suspicious, gold money clip in his possession. This causes Webby and Louie to start an investigation where they discover Duke Baloney's records are non-existent and Flintheart Glomgold's records do not extend past his arrival to Duckburg in the 80's.
Meanwhile, Duke's evil persona slowly starts to re-emerge after one of Scrooge's fishing boats roll into the dock. He can't remember Scrooge's name, he can't even remember his face when they meet, but he suddenly grows negative feelings towards the boat and he's not exactly sure why. He starts coming up with elaborate plans to outrank it and he ends up having a dream full of subliminal messages about his past.
As Duke starts to question who he really is, he notices that Webby and Louie are out at sea as a thunderstorm is approaching. He plans to go out and rescue them but a boat crane hits him on the head, causing him to fall into the marina much like he did before. It's in his second time of unconsciousness where he remembers why he started his Scottish persona in the first place: When Duke was a child, Scrooge failed at teaching him a sense of self reliance by only paying partially for his shoe shining services. Feeling cheated, he secretly stole Scrooge's money clip and vowed to do whatever it takes to out-best him at everything and steal his title of "Richest Duck in the World".
When Duke comes to at the surface, he reverts back to his evil ways. He displays this as he tricks Webby into giving him her hand only for him throw her out of the boat to make room for himself. The other fishers are very shocked to see their friend act like this.
Glomgold makes his way back to his office to reclaim his company from Zan Owlson and to challenge Scrooge with the fiscal year bet. Scrooge refuses until Glomgold taunts him with the money clip he had stolen from him. McDuck becomes surprised, and angry, that his greatest rival has a significant connection to his past.
So, if Launchpad has amnesia, what could Glomgold's situation be telling us about his?
Glomgold's amnesia was tied to a big event as well as LP's could be if he was involved with the cosmic storm.
Glomgold goes missing in the sea, an environment that is very similar to outer-space.
Following his disappearance, Glomgold ended up looking like a different person with a new profession. Launchpad is completely unrecognizable to Della in spite of many signs that they could have something to do with each other's backgrounds and there are also possible signs that he might not be a legitimate airplane pilot.
Glomgold had Scrooge's money clip on him. Maybe LP has some sort of mysterious item or something like a scar or a birthmark that could help prove that he's the father.
Information on both Duke and Glomgold is extremely limited. Launchpad's records probably don't go very far either.
Duke's sudden hatred for Scrooge's boat reminds me of Launchpad's sudden attachment to Dewey. The triplet hasn't done much to or for Launchpad prior "Terror of The Terrafimians!”; he caused a trap to dump a pile of snakes onto Launchpad without apologizing. Dewey doesn't show any concern towards him until he comes back from his search in "Gander"...and yet, Launchpad established him as his best friend. He may not even be sure why he does. I've been theorizing for the longest time that Dewey could be reminding him of Della.
In the Theme Song Takeover, Launchpad sings about being on the Houseboat with Dewey specifically without acknowledging that Scrooge, Donald, Huey and Louie are there too. He did a similar thing in “Jaw$!” when he simplified Huey and Louie as “Dewey’s Brothers”. Aside from giving us potential clues about Della, Issue 18 highlighted Launchpad’s friendship with Dewey as well. When he realizes the severity of the tsunami alert, he immediately grabs Dewey and wants to head to safety instead of thinking to grab both Dewey and Webby at the same time. The retail incentive cover for this issue features a bunch of Dewey photos with Launchpad facing them.
Duke has a dream full of symbolism revolving around his Scottish persona. Launchpad’s line in “The 87 Cent Solution!” when Scrooge causes Gizmoduck to accidentally shoot the Sunchaser with a torpedo, reminds me a bit of this. He said the situation reminded him of every nightmare he’s ever had....why is he having dreams of accidentally hitting Dewey with the plane? What does this mean? Is he afraid that there will be a day where he hurts someone he cares about? Has this already happened in the past?
Was the mishap reminiscent of what happened during the cosmic storm? Scrooge accidentally causes Gizmoduck to fire his torpedoes (lightning?), they hit the plane (spacecraft?), smoke fills the vehicle (radiation clouds?) and he comes close to hitting someone he cares about (Della?)
After seeing the boat, Glomgold's old ways start to creep back into his mind. I think after being exposed to Della's presence for the first time in years, Launchpad will start to act a bit like his older self and do things that Della will recognize.
Glomgold had to get knocked back into the sea to return to how he normally is. Will Launchpad have to have another stressful incident or head injury to help him remember who he was?
There's a line from "The Impossible Summit of Mt. Neverrest!" where he says "NO! This is not the end of Launchpad McQuack! It WILL be by plane crash, or not at all!" Was that possibly hinting towards this?
Duke actually says a line a bit similar to this where he says “All I need to know, is that I came from the sea...and I’ll die buy it...”
A thunderstorm was involved and a rescue was underway, just like how Della could have been trying to rescue the father while she was caught up in the cosmic storm.
Glomgold's beard gets zapped with lightning from the storm, burning it into nothing. Launchpad possibly implied that he himself survived a lightning strike of some sort.
This episode was about a villain turning back into a good guy after losing his memory. Did Launchpad use to be a bad person? Or someone who was generally good, but made a bad decision? Or just unknowingly caused a bunch of bad things to happen? If Launchpad was the reason behind Della taking the Spear, then it’s partially his fault for Della getting stuck on the moon, losing her leg, Donald and Scrooge's separation, the boys growing up financially unstable without a mother, the depletion of the Money Bin, almost making Scrooge go bankrupt, Scrooge's retirement and depression, the family splitting up for a second time, Donald being sent to jail and the upcoming invasion. Even if the incident was beyond his control, he'll still feel horrible about causing such a chain reaction.
Not really counting on this, but if amnesia caused Glomgold to revert back to his original accent, could breaking out of amnesia cause Launchpad to revert back to his? In the original DuckTales series, Launchpad had more of a Northeastern accent. There are certain points in the cadence of Della's voice that reminds me of how Launchpad speaks in the reboot; more notably when she slips into a lower register
"Iiiit's fiiiine, I'm sure the flavor will wear off soon…"
"I've activated my distress beacon, so you can pinpoint my location and COME GET ME."
"I bet the boys have hatched by now... I'm not even sure what they look like…"
"I was gone for a decade and everyone was just fine…"
Glomgold's change in voice was brought on by copying off of Scrooge. Perhaps Launchpad is emulating Della in that way as well.
There are a few other lines in this episode that reminded me of some lines Launchpad has said in the previous season:
When Duke shares his crazy plans to outdo Scrooge's boat by over-fishing, Mann makes a comment.
"...But it's like you always say, 'sharing is caring'."
Duke takes a moment to think about this.
"That does sound like me...or does it?"
This reminds me of the scene in "The Spear of Selene!" where Scrooge orders Launchpad to get the plane back in the air after crash landing on Ithaquack. Launchpad responds.
"Sorry, Mr. McDee, gotta figure out what this flashing red light means. I always say: Better to be safe than... whatever the opposite of safe is!"
He then looks off to the side with uncertainty afterwards, like he's not exactly sure where this phrase came from, but he could have sworn he said it at some point.
"Yeah, I do say that.”
But then Scrooge fires back.
"WHEN HAVE YOU EVER SAID THAT?!"
Could this little break in character be implying that Launchpad was a safer person at some point in his life?
When Duke notices Webby and Louie out at sea when the storm is about to start, he begins to speak.
“I'll save ya! Or my name isn't--”
But then he gets hit with a crane and falls into the water. This reminds me of LP's quote in “The Secret(s) of Castle McDuck!” when he's trying to help Scrooge win his parents’ approval. In disguise, he says
“He's a real family man or my name isn't Launchpad Mc...Donald Duck.”
We all know he isn't Donald and he was close to saying Launchpad McQuack wasn't his real name.
This may not count, but When Duke reached out to Webby and said “Give me your hand!”, it reminded me of when LP said the same thing to Dewey in “B.U.D.D.Y” as well as Scrooge in "Last Crash" when he's going after Dewey outside of the plane. Duke pulls Webby into the water and the limo rides over a rock causing Dewey to come out of the self-driving car and fly out of LP's grip.
After developing my new theory about Della and Launchpad's connection, I later realized how the two episodes I’ve been zeroing in on the most, are next to each other in order of production. One dealt with the ideas of genetic mutation in a space-like environment, combined with the concept of going on a secret trip to meet up with a family member and a lover. Then right after that, there's the idea of someone having amnesia after a big event causes their long absence and then struggling to figure out who they really are when elements from their past start to seep back into their life. A connection between the two is looking very likely. Both stories were set in aquatic places and may have even occurred around the same time. I came across a theory that Huey, Dewey and Launchpad visited the Mid-Atlantic ridge while Webby and Louie went fishing, which would explain why they weren't present in the other's episode. __
If Launchpad was affected by the cosmic storm, what else could it have done to him aside from changing the way he looks?
I've put together a list of abilities he may have gained from this:
Immortality
In "The Most Dangerous Game...Night!" Louie tells Huey that he's convinced Launchpad is immortal due to the amount of plane crashes he's survived. LP doesn't respond to this comment and later refuses to answer Huey about how he survived the Tower of Infinity when it collapsed.
I think there's enough weight to Louie's remark for it to be more than simply a one-off joke because there are multiple times where he's shown to be pretty resilient. Launchpad can get sick or hurt, but he recovers incredibly well to injuries and has, as Fisher said when he was describing Duke, "a freakishly high tolerance for pain".
After the snakes from the Atlantean trap bit him, he brushes the situation off like it's not a big deal. He's hindered by the venom, but he's still conscious enough to climb down the bridge when it breaks (for the most part) and helps Webby to lie to her grandmother by posing as a Swedish person. When Glomgold announced that he's about to blow up the city, Launchpad’s facial swelling suddenly goes down and he’s well enough to quickly drive the sub to safety. Also, when Launchpad returns to the Sunchaser after looking for Ziyi, a bunch of arrows are pierced through his armor and he has an eye-patch over his eye. He’s winded by having to run to the to the plane in time and escape the danger he went though, but he isn’t wincing from his injuries. He isn’t really fazed by them at all.
Sᴛᴏʀᴋᴜʟᴇs sᴇᴇᴍs ᴛᴏ ʙᴇ ᴀ ᴘʟᴀᴄᴇʜᴏʟᴅᴇʀ ғᴏʀ Lᴀᴜɴᴄʜᴘᴀᴅ ᴡʜᴇɴᴇᴠᴇʀ ʜᴇ's ɴᴏᴛ ᴘᴀʀᴛɪᴄɪᴘᴀᴛɪɴɢ ɪɴ ᴄᴇʀᴛᴀɪɴ ᴇᴘɪsᴏᴅᴇs. Pᴇʀʜᴀᴘs ʜᴇ ʀᴇᴘʀᴇsᴇɴᴛs Lᴀᴜɴᴄʜᴘᴀᴅ's ɪᴍᴍᴏʀᴛᴀʟɪᴛʏ ɪɴ ᴀ ᴡᴀʏ.
Strength
“The Missing Links of Moorshire!” is a good example of Launchpad’s strength. Towards the end of the episode, he’s shown to lift Huey, Dewey, Louie, Webby and Scrooge with ease. Even earlier in the episode, he’s able to push a water-logged golf cart out of a lake, which on average is somewhere between 900 to 1100 lbs when it’s dry.
The cosmic storm may have increased his strength, but the workout equipment in his room would indicate that he needs to maintain it to a degree. Maybe it's a Hercules-type situation; even during his weaker points, he’s still pretty strong, but working out just makes him even more abnormally strong.
Agility
As seen in “Shadow War” and “Duck Knight”, LP is a very capable fighter. He has good reflexes, allowing him to dodge most attacks. Even though the venom from the snakes impaired him, he was still able to defend himself from Glomgold’s henchmen. In “Last Crash”, he ran on top of falling items to keep himself from falling out of the plane. And when he was fighting off the shadows on top of the plane, he never lost his balance.
Speed
I'm not really sure with this one, but in "Game Night" Launchpad was able to make it over to Louie and Huey after getting struck with the shrink ray. Perhaps this was ignored for convince, but running fast would explain how he was able to survive the collapse of the Jenga tower.
Aquatic Respiration
I think this is starting to become more apparent. After "Whatever Happened to Della Duck?!" aired, I started to wonder if Launchpad may have used Oxy-Chew when he went to visit Oceanika. But after "Friendship Hates Magic!"....I don't think this is the case. In the scene where he's drinking pea soup through a silly straw, one of the peas gets stuck and he struggles with it until his face starts to turn blue. He faints and all the air in his lungs exits his body before face-planting into his bowl. Then he makes a muffled inhaling noise without choking…
Lᴀᴜɴᴄʜᴘᴀᴅ sɪᴛs ɪɴ ғʀᴏɴᴛ ᴏғ ᴀ ᴘᴀɪɴᴛɪɴɢ ᴏғ ᴛʜᴇ sᴇᴀsɪᴅᴇ ᴀs ᴛʜɪs ɪs ʜᴀᴘᴘᴇɴɪɴɢ.
In “Neverrest”, Launchpad keeps his mouth open as he falls into the hot spring and doesn’t gasp for air when he bursts out of it. When he comes back to the lighthouse in "Depths", he simply resurfaces with no problem. He isn't panting for air until he has to climb up onto the platform, which can be a bit tiring after staying in the water for so long. So, uh...I guess Launchpad has gills somewhere on his beak...? Granted, if he did have Oxy-Chew at some point, he could have ended up swallowing it; I mean, that stuff is pretty powerful when you chew it alone, but I'm leaning on mutation with this one.
Electrical Powers
After getting caught in a cloud full of radiation and lightning, it would make a ton of sense for Launchpad to have some sort of connection to electricity. But what kind of connection exactly? Can he generate his own? Can he bend and levitate metal objects to his will? Does he serve as a special conductor? It's really hard to tell since there aren't any on obviously examples, but perhaps there could be something with the latter option.
The ending to “The Spear of Selene!” was very baffling. During my first viewing, I thought Launchpad was scared to leave the plane for some reason, but he ends up disassembling the plane; preventing the family from leaving and bringing him out in the open. Then, during my latest viewing, I realized that the plane isn’t simply taken apart, it looks like it was ripped apart. The pieces are damaged...one of the engines are chipped and dented, one of the propeller blades are also chipped, the tail of the plane has a cracked wing, the control board is all dented with the yoke snapped off...was he really that obsessed with figuring out the problem that he couldn’t just use tools to separate the plane properly? This made me wonder if there could have been an explosion from inside of the Sunchaser. Could another lightning bolt have hit the plane and it was strong enough for Launchpad to react to it? The first time the plane was struck, he’s quickly able to engage a control to stop it from affecting the plane.
The plane parts don’t seem to have any burn marks on them and Launchpad’s clothes aren’t singed or anything, so perhaps there was a different kind of electrical mishap or something that resulted from another side effect of the cosmic storm.
Sixth Sense
Maybe this is purely for meta humor, but LP seems to have this underlying fourth wall-y awareness. At the end of “Moonshire”, the camera is gone, but he still faces the audience and addresses the lesson to be learned. He then undercuts himself as if he didn't want us to know how insightful he is.
In "Terror of The Terrafimians!", he questions if Huey, Webby and Lena were the only three missing from the group when Magica technically counts as a fourth person.
Good Hearing
You would think that after constantly hearing the sound of breaking glass and denting metal on a daily basis, it would take a toll on Launchpad's hearing, but he seems to be a good listener.
Even though we weren't able to see his reaction to Scrooge's story about the Spear of Selene, he must have heard it in spite of being all the way on the other side of the plane and being sorta barricaded by a bunch of stuff to help balance the weight. If the boys informed him about what happened, he would have taken their word for it when he was talking over the intercom in "Shadow War", not point out how they’re the ones who blame Scrooge.
After "Nothing Can Stop Della Duck!" aired, I've been trying to figure out how Launchpad knew that Della was in the houseboat. She wasn't being very loud and he said "Thought I'd come over to introduce myself," implying that he knew about her being in there and stalled afterwards. He could have seen her as she was walking to the other side of the pool to board the houseboat, but it would have to have been somewhere where she wouldn’t have been able to notice him. Maybe looking out the window from inside the house. If not, he could have heard her in the boat as he was passing by. She didn’t start talking until around the time he came over, so if this were the case, he would have already known whose voice it was coming out of the houseboat. If he knew about Della being in the mansion this whole time, why did it take him so long to talk to her?
Weight Manipulation?
Part of me sorta wonders if LP has the ability to make himself lighter when he needs to be; holding back so he won't hurt anyone. This would explain things like how Scrooge was able to save LP from falling out of the plane in “Last Crash” without dislocating his shoulder and how Webby was able to knock LP down in “Shadow War”.
But then again, determination, anger and stubbornness act a bit like super powers to some of the characters. It gives them a boost of strength when the stakes are high and allows them to do things they wouldn’t normally be able to do or shouldn't be able to do based on their body type. Scrooge was able to throw everyone off of him in “87 Cent Solution”, and enjoys swimming around in one of the most heavy metals in existence. Huey dragged LP back to the log in “Only Child” even after he wasn’t able to lift any part of that log. He was also able to lift three kids along with his uncle in “Moorshire” and was strong enough to keep the demon dog at bay in “McManor”. Then there's both Drake and Jim who can go through a bunch of injuries and still get back up after them.
This guess, along with the others I've discussed in this list, might just be part of cartoon logic and isn't meant to be an indication of anything outside of humor or convenience.
The Ability to Be Manipulated?
As I was putting this list together, I suddenly thought: If there's a Greek connection to the cosmic storm, what if Zeus is able to manipulate LP similarly to how he was able to manipulate Storkules with the siren? If Launchpad does have good hearing, what if he heard the siren and that's what caused him to destroy the Sunchaser? Launchpad loves music and, as seen in "Sky Pirates", gets easily distracted by it. The plane was fine when Donald was trying to leave the lightning barrier, but then after the singing and fighting continued, it's in shambles.
Zeus used the siren because he knew it would affect Storkules directly. Scrooge, Huey and Louie were not affected by the singing after later taking their hands from over their ear...holes. Dewey, Webby and Selene couldn't be affected because the temple was way up high on the island. The Sunchaser, however, was located right around the corner. Since Zeus wasn't affected by the siren either, perhaps there's something in the lyrics that affects immortals who rank lower than himself.
__
Back in April, I observed the Spear manual scenes in “Whatever Happened” and noticed that “DT-87” and “DT-18” were mentioned. These are abbreviations for “DuckTales 1987”, the year the original series came out and “DuckTales 2018”, the year Season 2 premiered. The numbers “7-15”, “7-16”, “7-18” and “207” were also featured.
“207” as well as the other 7’s refer to “Whatever Happened”’s production code, so I figured 15, 16 and 18 were also referring to other Season 2 episodes that might relate to 7. So far, Episode 15, "The Dangerous Chemistry of Gandra Dee!" and Episode 16, "The Duck Knight Returns!", have provided things that could be leading up to why Della took the Spear and how it could have to do with the father. Launchpad was present in both episodes, and both shared some similar themes.
Episode 15 opens up with a thunderstorm storm. Gizmoduck is facing off against an evil scientist named Dr. Atmoz Fear, who's taking advantage of the storm by using one of his devices to manipulate the lightning. When he tries to zap Gizmoduck with it, it reminds me a bit of Gyro and his shrink ray in "Game Night".

After the villain is defeated, Fenton meets Gandra, someone else who also works in the scientific fields. Unlike Fenton, who's more professional with his work, she's more on the rebellious side. A similar thing can be said about Della and Launchpad when it comes to aviation.
Fenton schedules a science date with Gandra, but he's very hesitant to call it such. If Della took the Spear because she was trying to save the father and failed, I can see her being very hesitant about getting back into a romantic relationship.
On their way to pick up Gandra in the limo, Launchpad conversates with Fenton by going down a list of special someone’s he’s previously dated. A couple of mentions in this list caught my attention; the first being how Launchpad claims to have dated a clone of himself. I think this is a meta thing we aren't supposed to take seriously. Because...why would this be suggested if a legitimate clone of yourself is basically your twin sibling, your child or somewhere in-between that...? Maybe it’s just me, but he blinks rather oddly right after he says this. There's also a pause as he stops the limo and begins to furrow his brow. Either he’s thinking really hard about everyone he's dated or he's a bit confused to where these more weirder memories are coming from.
What makes it even harder to take this clone claim seriously is that this is the same character who thinks Fenton is an actual robot because of the Gizmo suit and who also confused someone for a yeti in “Neverrest”. The word "clone" does have a non-literal meaning, so if we consider this and break it down...LP previously dated another goofy pilot who tends to wear teal and green, has a positive outlook on life in spite of all the hardships they face, never gives up, loves adventure, loves family, and doesn't like the idea of being replaced...?
I’ve joked to myself in the past about Della sort of being a female version of Launchpad due to their colors and how they have a similar way about themselves. Della's character pre-dates Launchpad but she was never described as a fearless pilot until the "Family Ties" comic was released in 2014, twenty-seven years after DuckTales debuted. (This comic is where the reboot got its inspiration for Della's character and story arc.)
If LP really does have amnesia, he can’t remember Della as a person, so it would be easy for him to consider her as a copy of himself. Scrooge made it extremely difficult to get information about Della after she went missing so anything that Launchpad is emulating from her had to be based on knowledge prior to that point.
Another reason why this could be a sly reference to Della is because every time we get information about Launchpad’s love-life, we’re always given something that can be traced back to Della: Della isn’t a deadly ninja, but Ziyi’s situation in “Gander” involved her disappearing and possibly leaving her offspring behind. (I’m assuming Ziyi was being referred to due to the order of the list and being the only previously mentioned lover with an Asian background. Perhaps she has some Japanese origins as well as Chinese.) Della isn’t a forbidden mermaid, but Oceanika’s situation in “Depths” involved her calling out to Launchpad in a sing-song manner, wearing similar colors to both Launchpad and Della, and ended with Launchpad returning with a golden spear and trio of color-coded sea creatures that come from eggs. One of Launchpad’s lines in “The Twelve Days of Christmas” involved his true love giving him “eleven planes a-flying”. Regardless of how strange that statement was, it still planted the idea that there are two Launchpads, which technically, may be true persona-wise.

The second mention in Launchpad’s list of lovers that caught my attention was the talking cloud of energy. Similarly to the pause after talking about a clone, he gets cut off right after he says this. A cloud of energy is basically a cloud full of lightning and that reminds me a lot of the cosmic storm. Since the cloud had the ability to talk, could this claim be based on a memory of Della trying to contact him while he was in the cosmic storm?
Fenton and Gandra’s date takes place at night in Gyro’s underwater lab. The moon is mentioned and it’s likeness is sort of shown through the string of lights used to decorate the room. Outside of the lab’s window is a starfish that is colored with a shade very close to Fenton’s purple shirt. He sits on the side of the table where the creature is located. The scenery is reminding me of the sea-space connections the show has been making. The starfish not only reminds me of stars in general but how the blue starfish attached to Launchpad at the end of “Depths” was a similar color to Della’s teal scarf. I’ve noted in another post that the starfish could have to do with Della because it also shares traits with Dewey and he’s constantly being compared to her, but what makes Della even more like the starfish is her ability to adapt. She lost her leg, but she was able to make a new one. Starfish can regenerate their limbs when they lose them.
When Fenton shows Gandra his Fentonium project, he described the invention as "An innovative generator from a mild-mannered source." If Launchpad has any electrical powers, this makes me wonder if they'll eventually be put to scientific use.
It’s later revealed that Gandra is a spy working for Waddle. Her main objective for going on a date with Fenton was to get him to say his Gizmoduck passcode to activate the nanite serum she made for Mark Beaks. For Gandra, the nanites gave her the power to deliver electrical shocks. For Mark, the nanites enhanced his body by giving him a muscular physique, a more prominent chin and gruffer voice to go with it.

After the secret plan unfurls, Fenton turns into Gizmoduck. He responds to Mark's mutation:
“You've always been a monster, but now, you are a literal monster!”
This reminds me a lot of the monster stuff in "Terror". I always feel weird when I try to make sense of that portion of the plot because I feel like I haven't figured it out yet, but something is definitely going on. Since that episode has aired, there have been multiple cases where a character is considered a physical or figurative monster and whether that makes them a good person or a bad person. And there's always an "M" alliteration tied to it:
Mole Monster and McQuack in “Terror of The Terrafirmians!”
"I can't believe my best friend is a mole monster..."
"Wait...am I a mole monster? But I'm a good guy! Then that means...mole monster can also be good guys."
Magica and Monster in “The Other Bin of Scrooge McDuck!”
"They'll turn on you; call you a monster!
“You’re the monster here! And I know just the hunter to take you down...”
Monstro and M’Ma in "Who Is Gizmoduck?!"
"Eres un monstro, Diego!"
Monster and Mitzi in "The Depths of Cousin Fethry!"
"She's not a monster, she's a Mitzi!"
Moon Mite and Mother in "Whatever Happened to Della Duck?!"
“The mite isn't a monster, it's a mother!"
In an earlier post, I began to wonder if it would end up circling back to Launchpad since he's the one who started it. I thought maybe he'd feel like a monster in a figurative sense for accidentally abandoning his kids, but now it could also be something involving his genetic mutations. Maybe even a betrayal or theft of some sort since those concepts seem to be lingering in the background.
With all these M's going on and the high possibility of Launchpad's foreign names being used for Huey and Dewey, perhaps Launchpad's real name is Maxwell as in his Danish name, Max Motor. Joseph as in his Spanish name, Joe McQuack could also be another possibility. Since HDL went from more outlandish names to more plausible names, it's likely Launchpad's real name is something more standard.

When Fenton and Gandra make amends and try to come up with a way to stop Mega Beaks from wreaking any more havoc, Fenton points out that in spite of Mark's body being altered, he's still the same weak, ego-fuel person underneath those alterations. A similar thing can be said for Duke; even after he forgot about his Scottish persona, he was still Flintheart Glomgold and this became evident as he began to revert back into him.
When Mega Beaks is able to catch the Fentonium-laced paddle ball Fenton throws at him, he's amazed.
"Wow, I never actually caught a ball before! Well, who's the loser now, coach DAD?!"
This is the second time someone's father was mentioned in the episode. Before the date, M'ma mentions Fenton's father when she gives her son his suit to wear. Perhaps Della has one of the father's belongings that she'll pass down to her sons too.
___
Episode 16 was about two different people sharing the same alternative persona: Jim Starling as the original Darkwing Duck and Drake Mallard as the new one. Jim is outraged that he’s being replaced on a new Darkwing production after years of trying to make a comeback. Being disappointed by the gritty direction of the reboot, Launchpad sees Drake in a negative light and agrees to help Jim sabotage the movie. It was supposed to be for the greater good, but when Launchpad tries to go with the plan and lock Drake in his own trailer, his heroism is questioned. Drake isn’t a bad person and it turns out that he’s a huge Darkwing fan much like Launchpad himself. Was crushing the dreams of playing his childhood hero the right thing to do?
Once they find common ground, Launchpad devises a new plan where all three of them work together to help make a Darkwing Duck movie that new and old fans can enjoy. Unfortunately, Jim is too full of obsession and desperation to finally give the show a proper conclusion, that he becomes selfish. He ignores Drake when he tries to propose LP’s new idea to him and locks him away. He then refuses to follow the script and ends up destroying the movie set with his defiance. Drake soon breaks free and challenges Jim, leading Darkwing into fighting with himself. Launchpad tries to snap Jim out of it and remind him of the hero he’s supposed to be. While it does cause Jim to literally reflect on what he was becoming and helped him to save both Drake and Launchpad from the surging lightning tower before it exploded, it ultimately wasn’t enough. The one who was presumed to be bad turned out to be good, and the one who was presumed to be good, became bad, leaving Darkwing as both the hero and villain of his own story.
Ok, so, there’s a lot of identity struggle going on along with frustration over getting replaced after years of trying to get back into the spotlight. This seems like more supporting evidence that Launchpad will be faced with a situation where he’ll be confused about who he really is, but could this also be hinting that Della might go a little too far with her rivalry against Launchpad?
A lot of DW episodes so far seem to contain LP’s fear of being fired...but he’s considered honorary family; it’s hard to imagine Launchpad getting kicked out to take a permanent leave to St. Canard in this continuity. Launchpad wasn’t working for Scrooge in the original Darkwing Duck series because it took place in an alternate universe. Even with DW’s world integrated into the reboot, it’s still DuckTales at it’s base. It wouldn’t feel right for Launchpad to suddenly get removed from the main cast. I think similarly to Drake, Della will find some common ground with LP before anything is able to get out of hand.
When Dewey expresses his ideas to make the Darkwing film better, he mentions aliens, Megavolt and lightning towers. When Jim threatens to zap Alistair Boorswan with Megavolt's lightning ray, Launchpad steps in between them; willing to get hit to protect the director. Drake displays a high tolerance for pain as he survives a box of explosives going off, getting a piano dropped on him and getting zapped several times.

An artificial thunderstorm is created when Launchpad turns on the rain machine to stop the movie set from being on fire. When he delivers his speech about how heroic and important Darkwing Duck is as a character, he stands in front of one of the lightning towers. At the mention of the word "light", there's an upsurge of power as the camera pans from Launchpad to the top of the tower. The structure sends sparks everywhere, but Launchpad is completely unfazed by this and continues his speech.
A tattered image of the moon and a starry sky hangs in the background as this is going on... could this scene be proving that Launchpad has some degree of electrical manipulation? Is it only evident when he's extremely passionate about something? If this was purely the result of the rain machine being activated, wouldn't it have taken a much shorter time for the lightning tower to react?

When Jim and Drake notice the lightning tower is growing unstable, they both run towards Launchpad to save him. In a hassle to be heroic again, Jim pushes both of his fans out of the way and suffers from the explosion. The rescuer is believed to be dead but he's alive and takes on a new persona: Negaduck. The event figuratively turns him into a monster.
So, there's a rescue, an electrical based event, survival from that event, a re-branding of oneself and someone is considered a monster. If Launchpad truly is responsible for blowing up the tower, he's the one who "killed" Jim. Drake blames himself, kinda like how everyone blames Della for the Spear incident when it could have been due to her going after Launchpad.

This episode made me realize a loose pattern that seems to be going on with two similar character that rival each other. One pretty much stays consistent (Scrooge, Lena, Drake), while the other goes through a major change that emulates the other (Glomgold, Violet, Jim). There’s usually an event and or a disappearance tied to their change (Scrooge’s Africa visit, the Shadow War, the tower explosion). The changed character is seen negatively and could be considered a monster. And at some point, one of the rivaling characters realize that the other has a significant connection to their past (The money clip, the amulet, the table signing).
I think Della and Launchpad could be following this pattern too. As noted by Scrooge in “Nothing Can” and “Raiders of The Doomsday Vault!”, Della’s hasn’t really changed at her base. Thus, making Launchpad the one who has most likely gone through a major change. Launchpad was established as Della’s double when she considered him to be her replacement and views him negatively. We know for sure that one of them went missing during an event and there’s enough potential hinting to suggest that they have a significant connection in their past.

Another number featured in the Spear’s manual was “800”. I couldn't figure out what it could mean at the time, but it could stand for "Friendship Hates Magic!". WDTV press has it listed as Episode 8 in order of production. This episode featured concepts of taking a dangerous risk to bringing someone back from the unknown, Launchpad bonding with a co-worker, possibly displaying one of his special abilities, hinting towards “Duck Knight” and the idea of someone who was thought of as being gone but they’ve actually been hanging around this whole time. When Lena is back to her solid form, Launchpad appears soon after the magical clouds of smoke begin to clear.
The number 17 is missing in the sequence that was highlighted in the manual. Perhaps there's something secretive about Episode 17. Or maybe the plot could be dealing with something or someone that’s missing. It could be when the family realizes Donald is missing or how his jail time is going on the Moon. It could also be something regarding the father; like Della opening up to the boys about him. I guess it could mean that this episode isn’t relevant to Episode 7, but that feels a bit less likely.
In my next post, I'm going to discuss how the arrangement of a scene can give us subtle hints about the future; starting with a closer look at Donald's family photo wall.

Self-Evaluation.
The intention for my current work was to create a large life-size sculpture made from plaster. It would take the form of a leopard. The catlike figure, rendered in patterns resembling bacteria cells that looked as though it was made from white coral. It was full of holes meaning it had none of the distinctive features or details associated with big cats, such as eyes, teeth and fur. I planned for the leopard to be gazing down from an elevated position at a box, similar in size and proportion to the animal itself. The box would be made from plywood and its exterior would have been completely white, to match the white space of the room this work would be situated in. I wanted my audience to discover a slit in the box where they could view its interior. This would display an explosion of colour and life. I hoped for the inside of the box to look like a mystical utopia of coral-like forms crawling around the insides and spreading like bacteria. My reference for this work is the magical forest land from James Cameron’s (2009) movie ‘Avatar’. My concept was to breakdown current stereotypical ideas and prejudices of bacteria by glamorising their gruesome form into something regal. This is why I chose a leopard. Mental health is a very important subject to me. I chose a white box to demonstrate the idea that we never really know what's going on inside someone else. We all have our own individual struggles. I wanted to propose the idea that beauty comes from within and that the exterior does not define everything there is to know about a person. I also have a personal connection to making a statuesque mythical creature. One of my vivid significant memories of my late father is that he loved his sandstone gargoyles in the garden and I wanted to recreate these weathered beings as a tribute to him on a personal level to make him proud. A leopard is also covered in camouflage and this is what my father, who was a fisherman, used to wear all the time. A leopard is known as a symbol for trusting your instincts to lead you in the correct direction. I wanted my creation to be inviting and an interactive experience. People would be invited to stroke, rub and touch the work. It would be a like a massage having the texture of a shell.
This term, I made complete use of the mold making facilities I wanted to try out all sorts of mediums to create weird and wonderful abstract forms that resembled bacteria. I explored this theme by making oddly textured blobs with an amorphous shape and I added beauty to them with crazy colour combinations (the more outrageous the better). I created large screen prints of cells. The images were made from reacting chemicals and capturing the reactions and bubbles on a sheet of paper. The outcome looked like an image from a microscope. I also made three-dimensional resin crystals that looked like clear glass bacteria that you could hold in your hands. One of my ideas that I never got to complete was to make my bacteria forms into squeezy stress balls that were filled with jellied balls consisting of different dimensions of spheres to look like a miniature universe in your hands. I wanted to play around with perspective and make people's minds wonder to places they have not before. I experimented a lot with texture and colour, my two main factors to making my work. I experimented as much as possible from modelling clay around recycled objects to look as if bacteria were growing into the material to creating the giant leopard structure from plaster, metal and wood. Before university shut down, I had many works in progress left in the workshops that I was unable to access. Therefore, I had to create work that I was able to make at home. I made what I would have created in the workshops which consisted of similar sculptures but with different materials. I couldn’t make more resin crystals so I created identical ones out of foam, PVA glue and acrylic paint.
Throughout the project, I have been investigating ideas to experiment with how our brains react to visual stimuli. I wanted my work to be playful and to have a positive atmosphere for the viewer, where they could escape real life momentarily. I began this year producing explosive, abstract paintings, before then choosing to focus more on the creation of my 3D blobs. From there, I further developed my work by beginning to sculpt pieces that increasingly took on the forms of real animals. My final piece idea stemmed from playing around with clay, creating repetitive textures on its surface that could be used to produce a tactile experience. The shapes I made were to have no identity and one had a tail, inspiring me to look at animals and creatures as well as natural forms, such as shells. I decided to challenge myself and I knew I wanted to have a stand out sculpture for my degree show. I wanted something big and powerful, this was a huge risk and I'd have to spend as much time in the workshops as was available, but I knew this is what I wanted to do. I got past the hardest stage, constructing the armature of the body, taking the precise measurements of its skeleton and positioning it so that it would be stable on its own. I created a few practice pieces. One of these was made from clay that, when dried, caused the sculpture to lean forwards. Meanwhile, white clay would be too expensive, so plaster became my best option. This was more of a challenge than a normal sculpture because it had to have a sturdy skeleton as the plaster would become heavy very quickly. However, I could not use too much paper to form lightweight padding around the animal's skeletal frame. This was on account of the deep holes I would have to drill into it, which would risk exposing the leopard’s paper padding if it came too close to the surface. Furthermore, the structure would have to be strong enough to withstand a heavy mass on top of it and not break, crack or be pulled down with gravity. I got to the point of transporting it home, however, I wasn’t able to complete it at home with no access to a ventilator or tools such as sanders and drills or space to work in.
Ever since I found Dan Lam I have fallen in love with her work. She is what first inspired me to create a piece of work that confuses the viewer as it exhibits both contradictory qualities of beauty and grotesqueness, on account of its theme being the glamorisation of bacteria. She creates this concept by making slime-like sculptures, adding feminine and iridescent colours which render the sculpture no longer repulsive but captivating. Lam also makes alien creatures that have no identity and encourages viewers to make their own mind up on what they are viewing. Her work is what inspired me to create mythical dream-like sculptures. After my dissertation on Yayoi Kusama I became very fascinated with her obsessive practice that utilised polka dots which made me think how everything in the world is made up of something smaller, like bacteria cells. She creates work simply from dots taking over a space, oozing and crawling with repeated circles in abundance. Kusuma inspired my admiration for a simple shape and how it can be made to transform into a reoccurring pattern, making something simple become complex.
The Rorschach test has been a big influence on my artwork as it encourages a viewer to use their imagination when looking at the art presented to them. The test is dependent on the audience participating, who are free to interpret any image in any way they want. It does not purposefully present literal or realistic imagery, which makes it intriguing to look at. This is the reaction I want for my own artwork. Abstraction is a distinctive feature of my work. I investigate this, by looking into the forms of bacteria that produce a dreamlike world. Bacteria links to both death and life which are part of an unending cycle. I wanted my viewer to experience something surreal. I give bacteria an enchanting vibe to look at death in a light-hearted way. The super bright colours of my work are important because, after looking at the effects of colour on the human mind, I want my work to be explosive and full of life, on account of the importance of aesthetics bringing out positive changes in mood.
To keep myself on track, I made a timeline so I knew how long I had left until the deadline. There were only so many hours the workshops would be open for, so I could only work limited hours with the technicians’ support and facilities. I planned each week with realistic expectations of my final piece progression, mapping what I could get done. As a whole, the leopard would take at least a month to create. This plan was going to be challenging but I knew that everything was going to be finished for the exhibition. I made sure I was in university every day and this represented not only a piece of artwork, this was more to me, it was a tribute to my father. I wanted to produce the very best outcome I could. When us students were sent home to finish our degrees in isolation, I made up a small studio space with my housemates. I had group critiques with the two third year illustration students I was living with in lockdown. Hearing someone else's opinion on my work helped me to better understand how I could improve it and, as students, we motivated each other to treat the house studio as a workspace.
A lot of my work was locked away in the studio due to COVID-19. I had six finished molds of sea life inspired sculptures in the casting workshop, ready for me to fill them with resin, creating crystal bacteria. I was unable to finish my work as it was impossible without the facilities. If circumstances were different and there wasn’t a pandemic, I would have been able to finish my 80cm plaster leopard and have a box filled with a precious crystal cave inside. It would have been a lot more immersive due to its large size. I wanted my work to be interactive and the viewers reaction to be part of it. I intended for it to be a stand out piece and for it to bring joy to the families that would see it.
In the future I plan to focus on making and selling animal-like sculptures. I am also interested in prop making for film sets and technical roles including art fabrication. I am open to anything and excited as to where the next part of my journey will take me as a graduate.

Chapter thirty-three.
We decided to spent our fist day on the resort, after breakfast I had put on a white swimming suit, which has cut outs on the front and the sides, showing a little cleavage, and Marco and I went for a dip in the pool. I texted my family before that, too, to let them know I was OK and that we had arrived and were settled in. they were not very happy when they found out I was on holidays with Marco instead of going home with them because they had missed me, but I hoped they would understand it.
There was football on the TV so Marco switched on the TV so he could follow the European Championship, even though he could not play due to his injury he still wanted to keep updated, and he supported his teammates from the distance. I watched from the pool but Marco kept on going in and out in between the pool and the lounge area every time he heard the match was becoming particularly exciting.
And basically that’s how we spend our three first days: from the pool to the ocean, watching some football while we ate and taking naps in our built-in over-the-sea rope hammock. It might seem a little bit boring but we both needed to relax and take some time in peace, to rest from out busy schedules and have some time together.
My final exams had tired me out, since it was technically my last year they had been extra-hard, next year I would only do apprenticeships both in fashion and interior décor business. Marco had also been on the edge lately, he had worked really hard to get into this year’s European Championship and this last-minute injury had taken his plans down, destroying his dreams and hopes in the process.
The forth day of our trip we decided to get a boat trip to Puerto Rico and take a tour of the small towns along the shore.. It wasn’t like a cruise, it was just a little boat, sailed by a local fisherman in which we travelled over the archipelago and the nearby shore.
“Are you ready” Marco asked as I came back from the bathroom.
It was really hot in the Caribe – as you would imagine – so I had decided to wear a pale pink short playsuit whit a loose fitting and white sandals. I had also picked a small brown bag to fit my phone, camera and wallet in there and it was also a few space left for a watter bottle. I was also carrying in my right hand a big wicker hat and a pair of round rose gold tinted sunglasses to shield myself from the sun.
“Ready” I said looking up to him “Did you put some sun cream on?”
He was wearing a white top with bermuda-style jeans and a pair of white trainers as well. He had a pair of sunglasses hanging from the hem of his shirt and he hadn’t styled his hair for today and it kinda seemed like beachy hair, I loved beachy hair on him.
“I did, I’ve been really sunburnt before and I wouldn’t like to be again” he said making me laugh.
“You’re so German” I laughed hugging him.
“Am I?” he said arching his eyebrows “You look beautifull” he complimented before giving me a peck.
“You look handsome too” I said walking towards the pier.
The boat was already waiting for us at the shore, it was called “Santa Maria” and it was white with a blue trim. I took of my shoes and hopped into the boat with ease as I was used to it but Marco didn’t do it with grace at all and he almost feel on the water.
“Don’t laugh” he said as he sat down next to me.
“You’re useless in a boat” I said still laughing.
“I didn’t do that bad” he said “How come are you that good at climbing boats?”
“Dear god” I said laughing “I didn’t climb a boat!”
“You know what I meant” he said.
“I just went fishing with my grandfather a lot growing up” I said “Didn’t I told you I sometimes went to a hidden beach on a boat?”
“No, you didn’t” he said “That’s so cool”
“It’s lovely” I said “You would love it”
“You’ll have to take me one day” he said.
“Of course!” I said.
The sea was calm so we had a nice trip. The boat didn’t move too much and we were able to take pictures, we had spent the morning visiting small beaches and towns and now we were going to have lunch in a town called Boqueron. Marco had already learnt how to get in and out the boat so he didn’t embarrassed me once we got to the pier. We had three hours and we were both starving so we decided to get some lunch first.
We walked a little bit and we found a restaurant, it was small and it gave a family vibe. The walls was painted white and they were decorated with a nautical theme. The floors and the counter were dark wood and there were ropes hanging from the ceiling, on top of the counter. The stools and the chairs were made in the same wood as the counter and the tables and there was a navy blue cushion.
We sat at a wooden table and a soon after a while a girl came with the menu. There was a white tablecloth on it and navy blue napkins, in the middle of the table there was a beautiful squared glass vase with blue and grey pebbles in it and a single blue flower in the middle. Once we ordered our food the waitress brought two white under-plates with a blue trim, matching the walls.
“It was nice to get to know all that places” Marco said while we were eating.
I had picked raw fish with vegetables and Marco had picked a fish casserole with baked potatoes, we had also picked rice with scrambled vegetables and soy sauce to share.
“I loved them” I said sipping my water “Though you must be tired of taking all of my pictures”
“No” he said “It’s funny”
“I want to take as many photos as I can because I want to remember it once we go back home” I said.
“Don’t worry” he said “I don’t mind. You look lovely”
“You don’t need to flatter me anymore” I said feeling my cheeks go red “You know I don’t like it”
“I’m not flattering you” he said “I say it because is true”
“Stop it” I said certain I had now became a tomato.
“Why the hell are you blushing?” he asked laughing.
“I don’t take compliments well, you know that. Now stop it, you’re embarrassing me!”
“You’re so cute” he said laughing. “But I’ll stop, where do you want to go after lunch”
“I want to go to that market we saw before” I said “Maybe I’ll find something to bring to my mother and my niece”
“OK” he agreed “I’ll have to find something for my family too, you can help if you want”
“Of course I want!” I said excitedly “You know I love buying presents”
The town was beautiful, with bright colours and markets down the street, there was a lot of noise but it was nice not deafening. The market had so many beautiful things on sale, most of them handmade, so it was really an unique present and we had almost bought most of our presents.
I had bought a beautiful bracelet for my sister-in-law Sandra, it was made of wooden trinkets and it had a few pendants with her initials, and one that had the country’s name. I had bought my mum three porcelain serving trays with colourful motives which represented the country and the town it self. My brother had been bought a small wooden ship which was named “Puerto Rico” and I had bought a doll dressed with the typical clothes of Puerto Rico.
Marco also had most of his presents already. He had bought a bunch of drawings for Melanie, who liked quirky art pieces and a watercolour of the pier for his parents. He had bought a leather notebook for his brother-in-law and some plates for Yvonne that matched my mother's trays. We only had left Nico’s present, which was a bit dificult.
We had almost went through the whole market when I found the perfect present for him, it was a collection of small traditional games made of wood
“Marco, what about that?” I said motioning towards the pile of games.
“Yeah” he said “Ask him about it please”.
“Hola!” I said to the buyer picking up Nico’s toys “Cuánto es?”
The fact that Spanish was one of my two mother tongues among with Galician had been pretty useful in this little shopping adventure. I had asked for the prices of all the stuff we had brought today and also at the restaurant.
After we bought Nico’s present we continued to walk among the market, which was so beautiful. We took a few pictures as well and Marco, who didn’t care about his phone bill, sent them to his family. We also spoke with them for a while, promising them to skype them the next morning and told them how we were doing.
After that we walked peacefully to the pier, where our boat was waiting for us to take Marco and I to our next stop.

Hehehe :> Do the character ask meme for Russ (WH), Senya (SWTOR) and Miranda (ME)!
First impression
Interesting aesthetic and “legion theme”. Floofy friends (I really like wolves, I should say). Dank doggo memes. Some Shit Happened™ between he and Magnus.
Impression now
I am very, very bitter about the boi, but not as angrily bitter as I was some time ago. Probably I am also hypocritically bitter, because I am a bad, hypocritical person. Since, he still has interesting aesthetic, floofy friends and dank doggo memes. To sum up, I do not really like particularly him (not whole Legion) as a person, but can honestly appreciate as a character.
Favorite moment
Erm… From all I have read to this moment (not really much) he mostly gave me butthurt or no real feels, when appeared on stage. Looking forward to seeing the moments, where he will not??? To moments when I will see him from the side I can appreciate and not angrily hisssss at? Russ being bro™???
Idea for a story
“Drunken fisherman stories”, if you know what I mean.
Unpopular opinion
I have literally no idea what counts as a popular opinion.
Favorite relationship
Something between him and his wolfsiblings to give me quality bro-feels? And more material for dank doggo memes, of course.
Favorite headcanon
“Пушистенький!” (с)Or speaking english and not in inside memes, I for some reason think, that his hair is re-eally fluffy when properly washed and all that. Maybe the reason is me having a think for long hair on dudes.
First impression
What a badass lady. What a badass music theme.
Impression now
She is the space goddess. “Beautiful and terrible as the Morning and the Night.Fair as the Sea and the Sun and the Snow upon the MountainDreadful as the Storm and the LightningStronger than the foundations of the earth” ©And we do not deserve her.
Favorite moment
Anytime she enters the scene. Senya sorta like one of my favorite moment is KOTFE\KOTET.
Idea for a story
Senya becomes Immortal Empress of Zakuul, prevents Shit™ from Happening™ by any means you want, raises children by herself, and everyone live happily ever after. Bonus points for Senya = Skyva thing.E X T R A T H I C C bonus point for dragons and the whole Old Gods thing.
Or, like, ya know, Royal Dorks, the sitcom version where everyone also live happily ever after and Vit is not that assholish.
Unpopular opinion
I am still not sure what is a popular opinion about Senya.
Favorite relationship
Senya and smols for family feels. Soft and warm family feels. Give me all of them to drown in. Well, basically I just want Senya to be happy.
Favorite headcanon
See “Idea for a story”, point “Royal Dorks The Sitcom”, all of them there. Also, ya know, Senya = Skyva.
First impression
I really hope her character is at least as deep, as her cleavage. Do your magic, Bioware.
Impression now
Deeper, so much deeper.I really like her for some reason and I guess the whole thing about her is that reason, but I never was able to catch the exact thing I like or something.I just. Like?
Favorite moment
Citadel DLC.it is one big and favorite moment.
Idea for a story
Give me more Citadel DLC. Give me post Shit Ended™ Citadel DLC with space magic™ of Synthesis bringing Shep and Anderson (who just took a nap) back to friends to throw even bigger party.MUCH. BIGGER.
Unpopular opinion
Same as the other two.
Favorite relationship
She and her sister. Family feels.
Favorite headcanon
I sadly have really hew headcanons for Mass Effect characters :(So just… MoAR CItAdEL Dlc???I crave it.

The resurgence of piracy in the Horn of Africas busy transport corridor comes when both anti-piracy forces and shipping companies have let down their guard. A NATO naval force pulled out of the Horn in December, citing the decline in pirate attacks, though a European Union force remains. Lawellin said that many cargo ships plying Somalias waters have also stopped taking basic precautionary measures, such as hiring armed guards on their ships and sailing at higher speeds farther from shore. As piracy declined, the use of these threat mitigation measures also declined, Lawellin said. The opportunity for pirates to hijack vessels is still present, and it appears that some still possess the capability and intent to venture out to sea in search of targets. The continued threat also reflects the fact that little has been done to address what is often cited as the root of piracy in Somalia: illegal fishing by foreign vessels, which Somali fishermen say drives them to take up arms to protect their shoreline. The international navies, which deployed to the region in 2008 amid rapidly escalating pirate attacks, have a U.N. mandate to stop hijackings, but they are not empowered to block the foreign fishing fleets that contribute to the underlying economic problem. The priority is we need the mandate of the international naval forces guarding the coast of Somalia to inspect fishing vessels, Said Jama, who until recently served as Somalias deputy fisheries minister, told Foreign Policy. We are still crying to get a U.N. resolution allowing these vessels to inspect any fishing vessels. Somali federal law forbids foreign ships from fishing within 15 miles of the coast in order to preserve fisheries for small-scale fishermen. Somali law also bans destructive fishing methods like bottom trawling, where ships drag nets or other devices along the seafloor, scooping up whatever is in their path and wrecking coastal ecosystems. But laws have failed to halt such practices in places like Puntland, where the federal government based in Mogadishu exercises little control. Jama said Yemeni and Iranian dhows with armed guards routinely enter Somali waters unimpeded and cut the nets of small fishermen in their way. Even worse, foreign ships sometimes practice high-grading keeping only the most profitable fish species while tossing the rest overboard to save cargo space, even as drought-stricken Somalis on shore face a possible famine. Pirates will not be eliminated as long as there is illegal fishing, because those people who are doing piracy consider themselves heroes defending their resources, said Hassan Warsame, the fisheries minister for the Galmudug state. In theory, Somali authorities should be intercepting illegal fishing vessels and bringing them to justice. But in areas like Galmudug, where illegal fishing is rampant, there are no maritime authorities.

Hua Hin My Home (town)
Hua Hin beach, my best beach resort home town
After I was run away from my countries over than 15 years, exploring the world holiday and working around the globe. I saw many things around and I met a lot of people. From my personal experiences, I found out that “ there is no place like home” and it was time to returning home . I really want to stay near the beach for many good reasons e.g. I love swimming, waling along the beach, listening the wave and most of all seafood is my favorite food - so I decided spending the rest of my life in Hua Hin, Thailand.
My home town is a small countryside call ” Ratchaburi” which is around 230 KM away from beach area,Hua Hin. I traveled to Hua Hin quite often and I must say - every times I visit Hua Hin, It makes me love this town more and more! After I have been living in Hua Hin more than 6 years I have heaps of stories to share
the facts about Hua Hin
a lot of old foreigners - seem like a retirement town for European
it’s actually more expensive than Bangkok
where is dwellers? many investors from overseas and non local around
electricity system is very sensitive ( only cat sneezing could interrupt the whole system)
Hua Hin has no Go-go Bar
Taxis just like any other vehicles so look carefully
HuaHinain love “ Night Market”
beach is the best here
jellyfish is coming when raining season
My Home is your home
Early 2010, I moved to Hua Hin starting to call Hua Hin as my home town.
I bought a beautiful house not far from the beach and turning my dream home to “ a guesthouse.
What’s to do in Hua Hin
Hua Hin has so many things to do. If you are choosing to stay at my house at SEA Harmony Eco Lodge Bed and Breakfast, make sure you allow your full day long exploring around Takiab Village. There are many places to see in walking distance please refer to our video guide, Kascha will take you around the Khao Takiab Village. If you are planing to travel outside of Takiab Village, here is more info for you.
I have done a research on the internet together with my own experiences for all places around Hua Hin .I have found a list on Tripadvisor based on the most reviews about on 23 Hua Hin's Attractions. I have found the top Hua Hin attraction as follows;
1.Paramotor Hua Hin Thailand 2.Banyan Golf Club : Behind Banyan Resort 3.Black Mountain Water Park : Up on Hua Hin Pa La U Waterfall 4.Huay Mongkol Temple : Hua Hin 's biggest Buddha statue 5.Klai Kang Won Palace : Current King Rama 9 Hua Hin Palace 6.Hua Hin Railway Station : Hua Hin City Center next to Hua Hin night market 7.Suan Son Pradipat Beach : SEA Pine garden on the way to Pranburi beach 8.Hutsadin Elephant Foundation: Elephant village on Hua Hin Pa La U Road 9.Pala-U Waterfall : Hua Hin's natural waterfall 10.Maruekatayawan Palace: Thai King Rama 6 Summer Palace 11. Sea Pines Golf Course : Golf course run by Thai's military 12.Wat Khao Takiab: Hua Hin iconic Mountain known as Monkey mountain or chopstick moutain 13.Hua Hin Beach : Hua Hin Long beach from the city to end of Takiab village 14.Turtle Island (Ko Tao): Hua Hin mountain village and King Rama 9 Thailand Royal Reservoir project 15.Chopsticks Hill (Khao Takiab) : The famous Hua Hin 's Resort and seafood restaurants 16.PlearnWan : Hua Hin original Vintage Shopping Mall and Market 17. Royal Hua Hin Golf Club 18.Elephant Village : Repeated list same with above Hutsadin Elephant Foundation 19.Wat Huai Mongkol : Repeated list same with above Huay Mongkol Temple 20.Hua Hin Safari : Hua Hin Zoo on the way to Paranbuti 21.Wat Khao Krailas:Hua Hin Meditation Temple 22.Kiriya yoga huahin : Hua Hin City Yoga
I have found that this list on Tripadvisor list is not really making senses for number of reasons. Firstly, Paramotor Hua Hin is not really tourist attraction, it 's quite confusing. In fact, It's just commercial leisure and activities in Hua Hin downtown! Number two and three on the list are golf club and Black mountain water park are not Hua Hin attractions. Indeed, this list is really about business listing directory in Hua Hin! Literally I think SEA Harmony Guesthouse would have been one of tourist attraction on this Tripadvisor list, just need you guys to write reviews on it.
Therefore, I am making a new list based on my personal and my guest experiences and its proximity from Hua Hin downtown as well as from our guests who shared their stories on the internet and Tripadvisor. Let's rewrite a new list of " SEA Harmony Hua Hin's Top Attractions"
1. Khao Ta Kiab Beach and Mountain : Only 3 minutes walk from SEA Harmony Guesthouse you can easily access low key and clean beach that you can really swim. Form the white dandy beach you can walk to Khao Takiab mountain and fisherman village only take 15 mins along the beach. There are a lot of things to do in this village, to help you to find the places. Here is the checklist thing to do in Takiab Village. - visiting standing golden buddha image ( landmak for Khao Takiab) - climbing up Khao Takiab mountain to see magnificent views and feed scary monkeys - having seafood along fisherman village - walking along mangrove field( which it will be extinct soon) and climbing to Krailas Temple
2. Cicada Market : The charmest market in Hua Hin open only weekend hight only 20 mins walk from SEA Harmony Hua Hin guesthouse.3. Hua Hin City Market: This is an original night market in Hua Hin open every nights from 6 pm to mid night.
3. Hua Hin downtown and night market: Hua Hin Town is in fact the oldest beach resort of the country and is still as popular as ever. The town used to be a quiet fishing village into a popular beach resort. Today Hua Hin downtown is busy with tourists and locals who want to enjoy the beach and city lifestyle. The busy and crazy beach is near Hilton and Dusit Thani Hotels and just opposite the main street you can enjoy a wild night life every night!
4. Hua Hin Rail way station: The railway station is recognize as the most beautiful train station in Thailand. The first major event which led Hua Hin to its prosperity was the construction of the southern railway line in the reign of King Rama VI (1910-1925), which was soon followed by the establishment of the Railway Hotel and the Royal Hua Hin Golf Course. But the most important of all was the construction of the summer palace by King Rama VII in 1926 which he named Klai Kangwon Palace (meaning "far from worries"). From then on, people have kept flocking to this newly-discovered seaside resort to enjoy their holidays, especially in the hot season.
5. Floating markets : There are two floating markets in Hua Hin, Hua Hin floating market and Sam Pan Nam Floating market. The choice is yours but don't expect too much about those market. I would says it'sjust shops a long man-made pound that's all!
6.Hua Hin Hills Vineyard: Hua Hin Hills is part of Siam Winery the same company that produces SPY Winecooler. There is a nice restaurant that you can appreciate relax atmosphere where grapes for Monsoon Valley Wines are grown and delicious foods.
7. The summer palace " Maruekatayawan: A beautiful functional, yet elegant, teak summer palace built on stilts. Massive living spaces and interconnecting walkways are raised off the ground at second storey level. The palace is surrounded by peaceful gardens with majestic mature trees. This summer palace was build for King Rama VI and his entourage when they decamped to his Hua Hin getaway.
8. PlearnWan : The old style shopping center with bed and breakfast in Hua Hin, only 20 mins away from SEA Harmony Hua Hin Guesthouse
9. Pala U waterfall : The fertile waterfall and great escape from busy life in Hua Hin. The water fall is located in the south of Keng Kajan National Park which next to Myanmar border. I went there when I was 17 year old and I remembered this waterfall well because my dad car was broken down in the middle of the hill. Pala U is about 60 KM away from Hua Hin downtown.
10. Elephant and Art Village: I have combined the last two places together coz it s not really far apart. I think I don't have to describe those place much as those names are quite self-explanatory.
From 2014 There will be more commercial tourist attractions and theme shopping center and water park in HuaHin. Stay tune with us we will update you more details.
