Octavia's and Blitzø's potential relationship development

I believe that the show, despite Octavia openly hating Blitzø, gives us some hints that they have much more in common than it seems. I’ve noticed a couple of moments where Blitzø and Octavia are… pretty much in sync, if that makes sense.

Here are those moments I’ve noticed… maybe stretched in some places, but! Hear me out!

1. Here, they don’t hear each other, but both are repulsed by Stolas’s obnoxious language and express the same reaction. It’s funny that Stolas is the one calling them out.

2. They also share a distaste for Stolas’s behavior throughout the episode, albeit in slightly different ways. In fact, this serves as a great demonstration of how deaf and blind Stolas is to obvious social cues at the beginning of the series—he doesn’t stop even when directly asked to do so on multiple occasions.

Blitzø is disgusted by Stolas’s awkward, overly sexual advances and demeaning language towards him and his work.

Octavia is taken aback by essentially the same. However, she blames both of them, understandably failing to recognize that Blitzø is just as uncomfortable as she is. From her perspective, Blitzø is a homewrecker who contributed to destroying her parents' marriage.

[Stolas]: You know, it's quite thrilling to see you on the job, Blitzy.[Blitzø]: Save it, bitch, I am working. [Octavia]: You both need to get a room. S1EP2, Loo Loo Land, 8:20

3. They share the hate for the same clown!

4. They seem to have similar tastes in music! The song My World Is Burning Down Around Me, which Octavia plays to tune out Stella’s screaming, is also heard in Blitzø’s van when he comes to pick up Loona in the Queen Bee episode, although it’s only instrumental. Here, have a look. If, for some reason, the service with the timeframes isn’t working, I’ll also provide the timings in writing so you can check it yourself on YouTube.

Octavia turns on the song, and for a while, we can hear the lyrics before it fades into the background as the scene shifts to Stella yelling at Stolas and later to Stolas’s conversation with Octavia. S1EP2, Loo Loo Land, 2:52 - 3:50

The song’s instrumental version can be heard when Blitzø’s van arrives, and the background noise at Queen Bee’s club is different, so there’s no chance for misinterpretation. It is the music Blitzø’s was listening to. S1EP8, Queen Bee, 8:20 - 9:14

5. Haha, they freak out in the same way in the Seeing Stars episode! I know it’s probably just a stylistic choice to transition from Octavia’s initial experience with LA to Blitzø having to contact Stolas and explain what happened. However, I might be indulging in a bit of wishful thinking, suggesting that this similarity in their stress responses could have some deeper meaning.

So-o... What am I trying to say with all these points I've made?

Like the kind of delulu who yells, "Ghostfuckers, save us!" (we know Viv, we know how trying to put our hopes up ends, haha), I draw a complete unhinged card and I am going to make a very bold claim:

I think that once Stolas and Blitzø finally get their shit and themselves back together, and Octavia realizes there’s much more to the story than, “Oh, it’s just horny dad cheated on my mum with a red lizard dickhead and my dad ruined my family,” Octavia could actually bond with Blitzø quite nicely, and he would make a good second dad to her! Well, don’t get me wrong. She might never want to take it to that level. Also, we don’t know how things will turn out, nor do we know her relationship with her mum, Stella.

But I do believe that their parallels were thrown in for a reason. Despite the circumstances, they can, and maybe will, be on much better terms than they currently are.

Go on, call me delusional and leave me be in my complete denial corner. <3 I admit I do tend to forget the current state of the Stolitz relationship in the series, as in my world, where I’m prioritizing my time working on that fic, they are finally together. I am bitter-sweetly excited that @tealvenetianmask and I are slowly but surely getting close to finishing it. :)

yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

Valicer Multiamory Month, Day Twelve: Explaining/mapping the polycule (Running Into The Bullshit AU)

We've hit a fun one today in Multiamory March (as put on by @polyamships) -- "explaining/mapping the polycule!" A prompt all about figuring out how to explain the various relationships within your group of partners, metamours, friends, and what-have-yous --

And the minute I saw it, I was like, "Oh, I have to do this with the Running Headlong Into The Bullshit mega-polycule." XD Running Headlong Into The Bullshit, for those of you not in the know, is my name for the ship that involves not only Victor, Victoria, Emily, Alice, and Smiler, but also Christopher White, my OC based off the White Knight from Through The Looking Glass (with his name and general looking coming from Christopher Lloyd's portrayal of the character in the Hallmark Alice In Wonderland); Richard Hatter (a humanized version of the AMA/A:MR Hatter with a better attitude); and Preston Garvey and Piper Wright from Fallout 4 (two of my favorite companions in the game, and the two I've romanced during my playthrough with my Sole Survivor version of Victor). The ship name itself comes from this post on how each OT3 has the basic roles of "running headlong into the bullshit, pretends to not want to run headlong into the bullshit but secretly loves it, and does not actually want to run headlong into the bullshit but is pulled along by the other two," and my addition about how Victor keeps getting involved with people who want to run into the bullshit. XD It's not really an AU so much as a silly concept I came up with once and occasionally think about (I know it would be an "all modern day college students AU" and that's about it), but given it involves a nine-person polycule, I thought it was perfect for this prompt.

So! Without further ado, I give you Smiler, Richard, and the rest of the polycule explaining their dynamics to an unnamed questioner, who may or may not be regretting asking. :p Enjoy!

“We’re working on his self-esteem. Anyway, that puts him here, in the center of this six-partner web of myself, Alice, Victoria, Emily, Preston, and Piper. With me so far?”

“Yes…”

“Fantastic. Now, over here you have the ‘Valicer’ triangle – that’s me, Victor, and Alice. Alice and I are both romantically involved with Victor, but our own relationship is more on the queerplatonic side – that’s why our connecting line is green instead of red. And over here we have the ‘Everdortmack’ triangle – that’s Victor, Victoria, and Emily.”

“We had to use our last names instead of our firsts, for, well, obvious reasons.”

“Right – they are in a proper triad relationship, romantic all around. And here we have the – did you guys ever come up with a name for your threesome?”

“Our names are kind of hard to combine, Yellow. Trust me, I’ve tried.”

“I kind of liked Christopher’s suggestion of ‘The Press, The Past, and the Pale’ – though I think we need a better P-word for Victor.”

“Pale does fit me…”

“We’ll go with the ‘Triple P’ triangle for now. Anyway, yes, this is another triad with Victor, Preston, and Piper. So far, so simple. But now things get interesting, because Preston is also involved with Victoria–”

“We’ve only been on a couple of dates so far, but it’s been very nice.”

“And Piper is involved with Emily!”

“Our dates have been a little more physical. ...DANCING! WE’VE GONE DANCING! STOP LAUGHING!”

“No. And Victoria is also romantically connected to Christopher here–”

“What can I say, I’ve always loved a proper lady.”

“And Richard is involved with Emily!”

“Our dates are not physical at all because I’m asexual.”

“Richard!”

“And overall, we’re all in what you might call a ‘garden party’ polycule – we’re all on good terms, but not all of us hang out together all the time.”

“Mostly because it’s incredibly difficult to coordinate dates for nine people, and we all have a lot going on in our own lives.”

“Exactly – so, any questions?”

“Yeah – how the hell do you all even meet to get tangled up like this?”

“Oh, that’s a series of much longer stories. Richard?”

Freminet - All That Glitters - He couldn’t believe his ears when you first told him. It didn’t make sense. How can someone like you have feelings for someone like him? Gloomy, quiet, unsociable—he is nothing like Lyney. He doesn’t make people smile, nor can he enthrall and wow. Even if you can’t see it, he knows the truth. He lives behind a diving mask and a clockwork penguin. Simply put, he would never match someone like you.

Lyney - Invulnerability - Never had Lyney imagined denying you when he first caught wind of his feelings. But the more he enthralled you, the more you began looking at him in that way, that expectant way. You wanted more from him. You wanted him to open up, to rely on you. So when you finally built up the bravery, how shocked you were with his response. He doesn’t know anything about you. Really. How can he see you as anything other than a kid when you can’t act any way but such?

Can I request "this didnt turn out like I intended" with shidou, es, and amane?

Aw yeah!! Thank you so much for the request -- I ended up giving the line to Es but honestly all three of them could have said it, it was perfect 👀 I pictured this before the T2 interrogations, with Es being fairly quiet about their guilt towards everything that happened. Though Shidou appears a bit less, I hope I could convey that he and Es share a lot of thoughts, interestingly.

Es would never get accustomed to the screaming. 

They’d heard a few anguished cries from the prisoner’s videos. They’d gotten a few agitated shouts when the first trial verdicts were announced. But nothing could have prepared them for the way the prison halls echoed now. Whether the prisoners poured out their sorrows, anguish, or agony at recent injuries, Es didn’t think they needed Milgram’s power to hear the true sounds of their heart. 

Es wished they’d just stop already. They knew it was selfish to hope for. They knew it stemmed from their own guilt. That didn’t make them wish for it any less.

The current bout of cries was coming from Shidou’s cell. Es had paused just before passing, trying to bury a wince as they listened to Fuuta struggle with treatment.

Amane approached from the other side. She glared at the cell, though Es knew it wasn’t the screaming that was bothering her.

She opened her mouth to speak, but they said in a hushed voice, “hey, I don’t need you giving Shidou any trouble. I know you disapprove, but I stand by this. I’m the one who told Shidou to check on Fuuta and Mahiru. I’m going to make sure they’re cared for.”

Amane studied them with her bright, unsettling gaze. “Why?” Her voice came out as strangely even as always. She was one of the few Es hadn’t heard any kind of shout from. “If something is destined to happen, who are you to change its course? Do you really believe you are the same as God, having that much control over the lives of others?”

“Not at all.” Es didn’t fight her. They weren’t here to change her heart, only read it. Still, they wondered if they could convince her to soften a bit without denouncing her beliefs. “The thing is, I’m not affecting their fate.”

“Then what do you call this?”

“Putting things back the way they should be.”

Es had tried to stand by their actions. They’d put on a tough face in front of the injured prisoners. They could not show weakness. As their warden, they couldn’t show any uncertainty, whatsoever. After all, the only thing worse than nearly getting killed was finding out you nearly got killed because of a child’s mistake. So they would keep this act up. They would assure everyone that this was still going according to plan. 

The way Amane looked at them, she already knew it wasn’t.

So, they figured it wouldn’t hurt to speak a little more openly now. Maybe it would even help explain Amane’s verdict. That certainly hadn’t gone as planned, either. “I wrongfully changed their lives when I let them get hurt. I saw that Kotoko had the capability for something like this, and I ignored it in the name of forgiveness. Now I need to fix the harm I’ve caused.”

“You haven’t caused any harm.”

Fuuta howled from inside.

Amane turned her gaze away. “That was still an outside force. You had no control over Kotoko’s actions. You and Shidou have control now.”

“I did have control over Kotoko, though. I knew my choices would have consequences. This is my fault.”

It felt good to say it out loud. Maybe not 'good.' It was a relief.

“And if I may venture to speak for Shidou…” That man was a mystery, but Es had put a few pieces together, at least. “It seems… he also took some lives off of their intended course. This is his way of fixing that. Right now, this is all we can do to make up for our decisions of the past. Isn’t that acceptable?”

She went to answer, but some shuffling from the cell cut her off. Shidou emerged, his expression changing ever so slightly upon finding the two just outside. Fuuta scowled on his way out, but said nothing. 

As the pair stood face to face, Amane’s eyes lit with fiery fury. Shidou met her with a harsh coldness.

“I wasn’t expecting you two,” he said simply. He was one of the others Es had yet to hear with a raised voice. Their two quietest prisoners, locked in such an intense struggle. That had certainly been an unexpected turn. “Is everything alright?”

“Yes,” Es lied. “We just stopped to talk for a moment.”

“Oh? What about?” Shidou folded his hands together. His gloves were covered in blood, they noticed. 

“Just that… this…” they waved a gloved hand in a general gesture, “didn’t work out as I intended.”

Shidou offered them a smile. It was one without any warmth, but that didn’t make it any less genuine.

“Mmm. It never does.”

Okay so basically the United States MINT of all people is going to be working with DC to make a line of coins! These coins sadly won't be in circulation (the things I would do to live in a world where I could get Batman coins from the supermarket) as they're collectors coins, but will be releasing over the course of the next 3 years, 2025-2027.

Designs haven't been released yet (the same is true for all 2025 designs) but we know there will be 9 coins in total (3 each year) with the first year featuring (of course!!!) Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

Although we know the first three heroes to be featured, the remaining six have yet to be decided, and it turns out the Mint is putting out a survey on their site to gauge which of a group of culturally significant heroes people want to see most! (link to the form is mentioned in the article above)

The considered group includes: Supergirl, the Flash, Green Arrow, Black Canary, Captain Marvel, John Stewart GL, Aquaman, Hawkman, Jamie Reyes BB, Robin (Damian?), Cyborg, and Batgirl, of which 6 will be selected.

As someone who does a bit of coin collecting myself (mainly circulation coins like the quarters sets, but I also have a couple proof and collectors coins) I think this is a really cool and interesting idea that showcases the history of the comics medium and these characters and their influence on American culture. Really excited to wait and see what the designs look like for the coins already announced!

Just thinking a lot in the time after the Crusade ends and Nela's mental health blatantly nosediving with no end in aight. No matter how much people try to help her, it doesn't work. They sometimes succeed in distracting her long enough to get her to act as normal, but that's just a fleeting mirage.

This goes on for months, not even Ember can push through to help her. Each week a bit more withdrawn, each week a bit less energy to fake being fine.

Work is one of the few things to reliably pull her out of her hole for a bit. So as much as everyone wants her to take a break (she obviously needs it), doing it could cause more damage than anything else.

When Samel finally manages to get through to her, it doesn't fix anything. Not immediately. However, it finally gives her the ability to take the help offered to her, yo search comfort in others and, slowly, pour out everything that has been eating her from inside. A full recovery will still take years, but she finally takes the first step out and the downward spiral stops.
