Can you give an in-depth analysis of the Chiara friendship side quest, the Beauxbaton side quest, the Celestial Ball side quest, and the First Date Sidequest?
Oh my… “in-depth analysis”? I’m not even sure I know what you’re expecting. But I’ll try my best!
“Lone Wolf” TLSQ
It was a good side quest overall.
The situation with breaking through to Chiara was pretty similar to Talbott, but at the same time, her backstory was unique enough that it didn’t feel like repetition. And Chiara is an interesting, well-rounded character. I also really liked Snape’s role in all of that and his relationship with Chiara.
There were two things that I didn’t like. First, the fact that the quest triggers both for people who didn’t complete the previous Halloween TLSQ and those who did. As a result, they had to adjust the plot to situations where MC knows and doesn’t know about Chiara being a werewolf. And in my opinion, if MC knows about that, it took them way too long to connect the situation to Chiara, simply making them look dim. I think it could’ve been avoided by making Chiara’s quest trigger only if you completed the Halloween one – so the way it is for Talbott. Of course, then we run into a problem because the Halloween TLSQ activates only once a year when it’s also Halloween in real life, but it wouldn’t be a problem if it triggered simply when you reach a certain point in the story – as it should be.
The second thing I’d like to talk about is Remus Lupin. I know a lot of people were very excited to see him, but for me? Eh, I could live without it. It just was a bit strange once you realised it’s Tonks’s future husband. But more importantly, I think that his reaction and advice for MC were kind of odd and irresponsible. I mean, yes, the whole talk about the power of friendship was sweet and whatnot… But your friends weren’t spending the nights with you in their human forms, Remus. That was the reason why they became Animagi – because werewolves are far less dangerous for animals. Lupin didn’t know if MC is an Animagus, and MC themselves clearly didn’t think to use it. Telling a kid to spend a night with a transformed werewolf who shouldn’t have any control over herself could end up really bad. Lupin was the most qualified to help Chiara to not hurt herself or anyone else, so I believe he should’ve been the one to stay with her. Sure, it could create stupid implications that an adult man is spending the night with a teenage girl, but like… we’re risking the kid’s life otherwise. Or they could’ve come up with an entirely different solution. Just, don’t tell me Lupin’s advice was to tame a werewolf with the power of friendship…
“Hosting The Beauxbatons” TLSQ
It was… all right? It might not be my favourite, but it wasn’t bad.
I was a bit annoyed by Penny’s involvement, but it’s mostly because of her general overexposure. Still, I believe she could’ve been easily replaced by another character. Also, I think that the whole cover about the transfer to Hogwarts was unnecessary and, in fact, should’ve worked in Aurélie’s disadvantage. Rowling actually stated that Hogwarts, in particular, serves only Britain and Ireland, so technically, such transfer was rather unlikely to happen. I think they could’ve said that it’s simply the exchange. Rowan would notice that Aurélie acts weirdly anyway. Oh, and MC was pretty dim with figuring it out again. I’d just like them to be a little brighter sometimes, y’know.
While I can’t say I’m Aurélie’s biggest fan, she definitely grew on me as a character throughout the story – and I suppose it was the intention so I’d say it’s a job well done here. The addition of her brother as the motivation for her research was a pretty neat idea, even if comparing it to MC and Jacob felt a bit like a reaching, in my opinion. Part of me also wishes Aurélie was a boy, simply to remind people that Beauxbatons is not a female-only school, despite what was shown in the movie.
Finally, I quite enjoyed the whole plot with Nicholas Flamel. It was a pretty good mix of small mystery and fanservice. I’ve also seen a theory that it could be the Philosopher’s Stone that’s in the final Cursed Vault (check it here!). Personally, I prefer if anything that’s inside there was an entirely original idea – just as the Vaults themselves – but still, it’s something worth to consider.
The Celestial Ball TLSQ
I enjoyed a big part of this quest, and my biggest complaint about it is that they turned it into the romance quest when the majority of it was simply about friendship.
The part I enjoyed the most was probably Rowan and Ben, and I actually don’t see it as “forcing” them to go the Celestial Ball. In my opinion, it was shown well that the main reason why they didn’t want to go at first was because they thought they’re not good enough: they talked about things like nobody would want to go with them, that they’re too awkward. And that’s what MC was working on later – not just on changing their minds, but mainly on their self-confidence. Both Rowan and Ben definitely need that so it was pretty great to see it. Another character who was treated nicely here was Bill who overcame his rejection from Emily Tyler. It was just delightful to watch if you ask me.
Unfortunately, it was kind of ruined by the requirement of choosing a date for the last part. I still think that it’s such a shame that we didn’t get a route where MC could decide that they just want to have fun with all their friends. Especially that everyone else went single. Jam City basically said that you can’t enjoy the school dance without a date, and it’s kind of ridiculous.
I also think that placing this quest in year 4 was rather an odd decision, even if only because both Merula and Ismelda were datable options. Don’t get me wrong, I do love Ismelda as a character, and if you want to romance Merula – you do you. However, MC’s relationship with both of those girls was still definitely more negative in the main story at that time, so it just is rather out of place. It’d make more sense to happen in year 5, although, then we have a problem with Beatrice being trapped, and it’d be odd to organise the ball when all school is afraid of the Portrait Curse… which brings me to the next point.
“First Date!” TLSQ
Dating was never very high on my priority list for this game. I thought it could be fun but no pressure from me, y’know. But now, I see that Jam City is not handling it very well, reducing romanceable options etc. So to be honest, I think it’d be better to not introduce romance to the story at all. Just leave it to people’s headcanons. Of course, you can say that the players were demanding that, but I believe it was mostly because the devs declared very early on that there will be dating. And it was a mistake, in my opinion, as it created expectations they’re not prepared for.
I simply think that it’d be better to invest time and work from dating content into something everyone can enjoy, and what could potentially have a bigger impact on the main story. Develop characters in general, develop their friendships with MC AND between each other. Show us our friends who rarely interact with each other. Perhaps there’d be some conflicts between them, or on the contrary, they’d discover that they get along surprisingly well!
But that being said, let’s move to the quest since that’s what the question was about. I played it myself only recently on my replay account. In general, I’d say that it was a mix of cringy and adorable, and to be fair, I suppose it’s pretty much how teenage romance is. I was probably the most bothered by the whole note situation, yet I know it’s something a teenager could do so… The quest could’ve been initiated differently and better, but I can accept it. Surprisingly, I wasn’t really troubled by the situation with Tonks. I mean, yes, it wasn’t the right thing to do. However, I feel like friends/older siblings checking on a protagonist’s date is a pretty common cliché in teenage stories, and the quest is basically a bunch of such clichés, so I guess I can as well just deal with them all.
I hope I covered at least part of the things you were expecting. If I didn’t address something you’re interested in, feel free to ask!

Ling Yao = Aurelie
Edward Elric = David Jager Denneth(Fifth Year/Sixth Year...the timeline says it’s a second year side-quest...it’s indifferent for David, but after the fourth year, David is more pissed about who wants the Stone...because he knows how to make it, while in second year he is guessed about it, talking with Minerva about Nicholas Flamel...)

What do you think of the relationship between Beatrice and Fleur if they two meet? They are in the same age, and both are friends with Cedric.
Ooh, now this is such an interesting one!
See, I always like to imagine that Beatrice and Cedric remained close, and that Beatrice was there for Cho and helped her through the pain after he died, because she knows better than most people how it feels to have your feelings and outbursts ignored. I feel like Bea was part of that whole friend group, that she entered her name in the Goblet of Fire but also supported Cedric and even wore one of those "Real Hogwarts Champion" badges at first before he asked her to stop. This would be the closest she ever got to meeting Harry.
Which brings us to the other champions. Beatrice would have met them, naturally. She wouldn't think much of Harry at first, probably hearing a lot of rumors about the things that he's said and done. She wouldn't care about him being too young to compete, but she would have a bone to pick with him getting chosen when Cedric already was. But once he warns Cedric about the dragons, I think she'd warm up to him.
I doubt she'd have much of anything to do with Viktor Krum, that is, assuming that he doesn't make some appearance in a TLSQ down the line, Draco Malfoy style, and meet her ahead of time. I expect him to appear, but it's unlikely that they'd have him meet Beatrice. Though they might want to have him meet Cedric, and Beatrice would in that case, already be there...hmm. Either way, she wouldn't pay much attention to Krum.
I doubt she would pay much attention to Fleur either, but here's the thing - Fleur is a beautiful and popular blonde who manages to involve herself in the plot. And she has a younger sister who is put into what appears to be mortal peril, she is imprisoned. Fleur goes out of her mind trying to save her, but doesn't manage to do so, the protagonist must step in and do it instead. Doesn't that sound kind of familiar? I think that the longer the tournament goes on and the more Beatrice takes notice of Fleur, the more of Penny she sees in the Beauxbatons Champion.
Of course, when Cedric dies, any interest in the other Champions is driven clean from her mind. She's dealing with the death of a close friend, and like I said, I'd imagine Beatrice spends most of the next year being there for Cho, and for all of Cedric's other close friends. She might be a little icy with Fred and George for a while as well - since they were always pretty rude to Cedric for basically no good reason. When Bill starts dating Fleur, I think Beatrice would be that much more curious about her.
This also raises the question, and I think it's a relevant one, of what Molly Weasley would think of Beatrice. I'm sorry to say it, but I feel as though she'd be somewhat alarmed by her "edgy" appearance and occasionally blunt attitude. Molly is a wonderful mother hen who will take in all of the lost children, even the likes of Merula, but she can also be judgmental. Why do I bring this up? Because it would be a point of bonding for Fleur and Beatrice. They'd identify with each other as having both been somewhat emotionally shut out by Bill's mum, despite how different they are.
This would result in Fleur venting to Beatrice perhaps, about her struggle to get along with Molly and Ginny. Beatrice would realize that no, she's not exactly like Penny...in a way, I feel like she'd see the very best of both herself and her older sister in Fleur. I think they would become good friends, even if Fleur can occasionally be haughty, Beatrice is the sort of friend who'd call her out on that. And after they get closer, Fleur also calls her out. Whether or not Beatrice would be a bridesmaid depends on if she could stomach dressing up like that, but Penny would already be one as well, most likely.

*sigh*
Does this TLSQ really have to be placed as Year 2 achievement? I suppose it’s to avoid conflicts with the main story... but really? I’m just so tired of this because some things they try to adjust to the previous year, but the other to the current one, and it’s just... eh...
Also, does it RALLY have to be the quest with Penny? Can’t it be Rowan? I’m biased, of course, but I simply believe it could’ve been more fitting. Rowan is a studious kid, curious about everything so it makes sense they’d want to get in touch with someone from Beauxbatons. It would even explain better MC’s involvement because Rowan is still a bit socially awkward, and usually it’s harder to be fully comfortable with someone during the first in-real-life meeting, despite knowing that person from the letters.
And why Aurélie speaks perfectly fine English, but then she says “’Ogwarts”? Or I just haven’t caught other hints for her French accent yet? And why she has Merula’s laugh? (I don’t like her already. Just kidding... or am I?)
Finally, the whole transfer thing is kind of a stretch, considering that Hogwarts is supposed to serve just Britain and Ireland, but I could ignore that one.

Is that... Purrple? What are you doing there, buddy? Go back to the dormitory!

What? What is my Puffskein doing in Dumbledore’s office? Are you spying for him? I mean, I assume that it’s there no matter if you have a Puffskein or not, but still - what a peculiar Easter egg.
Because Albus doesn’t use Puffskeins to keep an eye on students, RIGHT...?

So do you have any headcanons about what happens to characters after Hogwarts, during Second Wizarding War and after the war?
I made a headcanon post for the Battle of Hogwarts a while ago (you can find it here), but I do have some more general headcanons, too. So, I’ll try to elaborate on it now.
ROWAN
Since I’m a person who doesn’t necessarily like to influence the books canon too much, I always liked the idea of Rowan becoming the youngest professor but at Beauxbatons. Rowan’s death was also fake in my story, so once it’s all revealed, I imagine that it’d draw quite a bit of attention. Therefore, going abroad might be an even better idea now, actually. You know, kind of to start fresh. Plus, it’d be an opportunity to learn about new culture and whatnot.
Oh, and I like the idea that Rowan was teaching Fleur for some time! And since my Rowan gets over her “crush” on Bill (yet they remain very good friends), she’d be like: “Fleur was one of the best students I ever taught. Of course Bill would recognise it.”
Rowan comes back to England once the war started, probably helping the Order somehow. She participates in the Battle of Hogwarts and gets injured (but not seriously). After the war, she’d either go back to France or maybe even more likely: she’d come back to Hogwarts then. Also, I imagine she occasionally works as a curse-breaking consultant, especially when it comes to deciphering codes, ancient languages etc.
BEN
I’m still very attached to the idea of Ben as a Healer. I know he says he wants to be a Curse-Breaker now, and while I don’t think he’d be bad at it, I simply think a Healer is more fitting. Perhaps not for the current Ben, but I imagine he’s still gonna change, and I hope he’ll become a version of himself between Old and New Ben.
I also like to think that Ben as a Healer would try to introduce elements of psychotherapy to the wizarding world. Oh, and he’s a person who helps Ginny a lot after the events of the Chamber of Secrets. Sure, being under the Imperius Curse and trying to kill your best friend is not exactly the same as being possessed by the Dark Lord himself and putting the whole school in danger… but still. I believe learning about Ben’s experience would be very meaningful for Ginny.
During the war, he’d probably have to stay pretty low since he’s a Muggleborn, but there’s no way he’s passive. I can see him actively trying to help other Muggleborns etc. Especially that medical attention would be quite often needed in those situations. He participates in the Battle of Hogwarts and probably goes back to St Mungo’s after that.
TALBOTT
I don’t have a very clear idea for Talbott, but he stays an Auror in my story. And he obviously participates in the Battle of Hogwarts.
JAE
Now, I’m a bit torn about Jae because, on the one hand, I see him getting some random jobs at shops etc. and still doing his business on the side. But on the other hand… I really like the idea of Jae as an Auror. And honestly, I might go with that in my story, with Helena encouraging him to put a bit more effort into his O.W.L.s and later N.E.W.T.s etc. Also, there was that one line in the “Portrait Panic” TLSQ:
Tumblr media
… and I know it’s a super minor detail, and besides that, not much hints to their friendship… but I really think these two could have a very entertaining friendship dynamic. And I’d like to work with that.
TULIP
I can really see Tulip working as an Unspeakable. And yes, I believe it’s possible she’d work for the Ministry despite her difficult relationship with her parents. I talked more about it in this post. Moreover, I believe she’d be involved with the Order during the war.
BARNABY
I still haven’t decided whether I want him and Rowan to end up together romantically, but either way, they’re gonna stay close. So, I suppose Barnaby could join Rowan in France, even as a friend, to study Magical Creatures there. He comes back as well to get more involved during the war.
Oh! And at some point (maybe after the war), he starts breeding Crups because: fuck you, Mr Lee! You didn’t want to get your son a Crup? Well, guess what! Now he not only has a Crup, but he also makes sure little Cruppies bring joy to other families! In your face! Also, Helena and Charlie adopt one of those Cruppies (they call him Indiana).
ISMELDA
I have to say… I’m still fond of my old headcanon about Ismelda going into the fashion industry. I mean, just imagine those super dark yet feminine robes, gowns, dresses etc. I dunno, I just feel that the girl has a creative streak. As for the war, I feel that she’d be trying not to get involved at first, but it’d probably change if she was asked for help or something.
Now for the characters who aren’t particularly close with Helena, therefore I didn’t think about them much and/or I don’t really care…
I know that Penny becoming a Potions Master at Hogwarts is a pretty popular headcanon, but I somehow never saw her in this role. I think she’s more likely to have her own Apothecary or something. Also, when we meet Liz in the “Polyjuice Potion” SQ, she says she likes Penny because she cares where her Potions ingredients come from. So, I guess they could have some kind of partnership to produce cruelty-free products. Actually, now that I think about it, beauty products could be their main focus.
I see Andre going into professional Quidditch while keeping fashion as a hobby on the side. However, I assume that Quidditch players might retire pretty early, so he’d go full into the fashion industry then.
Jam City put so much focus on Chiara becoming a Healer that I don’t see the point of changing it. Although I want to point out that it’s a bit of a shame they didn’t make her focused more on academics. I mean, she wants to invent the cure for Lycanthropy, right? And that makes me think more of Lab work than work with patients. Of course, it can co-exist, I guess, but… just sayin’.
I imagine Badeea travelling a lot to study art. Perhaps she could also cooperate with theatres where she’d use her own spells to create special effects (inspired by her own connection to the Muggle world).
I have no idea in which direction would Diego go, but I feel he’d travel quite a bit as well.
And I don’t really have anything for the rest – and I probably won’t. Well, except Victor. I want Victor to be pretty close with Helena, but since he’s a pretty new addition, I was focused rather on how to incorporate him into my Hogwarts years, at least so far.
