#happy world bipolar day to all my bp babies #(more thoughts at the end of the tags)#shameless #shamelessnet #shamelessedit #ian gallagher #cameron monaghan #*macygifs #bipolar disorder #hello pals how are we doin #i made this gif set in july of 2023 and never posted it because 1) i was terrified to share it and potentially see Bad Takes in the tags #and 2) because my hyperfixation was waning. and while both of those things are still mostly true (the fixation comes and goes)#i feel like it's really important to share as ian's bipolar storyline was not only so vital to his character it was a bit of representation #that isn't often given to the disorder and those (like myself) who live with it every single day #world bipolar day is a day where we can both celebrate ourselves and our resilience and also raise awareness of the reality of the disorder #which is both terrifying and beautiful at its core. this disease is not a death sentence or a sentence to an unfulfilled and miserable life #while there are challenges galore when it comes to balancing life with this disorder it IS possible to live a full and productive life #and i think it's really important to have representation of that in media - and while shameless dropped the ball on a LOT of storylines #over the years THIS is the one they really fucking nailed and i am incredibly grateful #i first started watching shameless while in the midst of a major depressive episode and i was later (finally) diagnosed during an extended #hypo/manic episode - this show and ian's storyline got me through so much and made me feel so seen and validated in my struggles #world bipolar day is also vincent van gogh's birthday (happy birthday buddy) who was posthumously diagnosed with bipolar disorder #and who experienced both depressive and hypo/manic episodes during his lifetime (and was regularly institutionalized)#it takes a lot of help and support to keep us going. it takes the support of our family and friends and *most* of all #it takes patience and kindness and understanding - which is so so so easy to give if you are willing to love and listen #so please. be willing. listen to our stories. be patient with us. show us love without conditions. support us in any way you can.#we are worth it #i promise #anyway. that's really all i wanted to say. happy world bipolar day to those who celebrate (me) and may all of us living with this disorder #go on to live happy fulfilling beautiful magical lives

Hiccup was a runt, the most awkward, frailest guy around. He was created with the intent of being someone who's different from everyone else; both in his design and story. Someone who's weak around people who value strenght, someone who befriends dragons while others want to kill them. Hiccup makes up for his physical weakness with compassion and trying to bring peace to both sides.

Which is why in his every iteration after the first movie (+ ROB); Hiccup is a 6'1, modern beauty standart who can easily beat everyone in combat no matter how more build or/and experienced they are, unless the writers decide they need to higher the stakes, or they have other characters fight the enemy for him.

#the bit about him beating anyone easily is mostly reffering to the third movie #It's also why i heavily dislike astrid in thw. although for slightly different reasons #thw astrid is a shallow girlboss trope of a pretty girl who stomps everyone around her but has to follow conventional beauty standart -#- of not having any muscles. because 'women who are muscular can't be feminine and pretty'#the other bit is about trader johann. him and viggo are like the only ones who were ever allowed to actually get a hit on hiccup #the last is refering to drago #no you don't understand how pissed i was at seeing hiccup in thw just ragdolling everyone #not to mention the same guy who's advocating for peace for both sides just set a whole ship of soldiers on fire??#they could've used the kratos psychology “it's moral to kill something if it tries to kill you first” there #but no every human except berkians is evil and killing is cool when the protagonists do it #hiccup #hiccup haddock #httyd #httyd 2 #httyd 3 #rtte #httyd criticism #how to train your dragon #how to train your dragon: the hidden world #hiccup you'll always be the short awkward little thing who looks like the wind will blow him away to me <3 #they took all character design swag from the protagonists and gave it to the villains

#kingdom hearts 3 #kh3 #arendelle #scenery #my gif #it's nighttime when you first arrive in this world and you get to see the auroras shimmering in the sky #it's very beautiful but once you reach a certain point in the game it becomes daytime and you're not able to view this world at night again #that's pretty unique and i can't think of any other worlds that are like that #except maybe the kingdom of corona when you see the lanterns fly at night but that's just for a short segment #at least san fransokyo gives you a choice to view the city during night or day #anyways i'm glad i had an older save file that i was able to return back to so i could get shots of this world at night #i would have included elsa's castle but every angle i tried looked really awkward and bad lol #i don't use mods when collecting footage so some things are out of my hands when trying to get a nice shot #how sad is it that the interior of her castle is fully modeled (you can see right through the front doors) but you can't go inside #all of the characters stand in a line outside the castle and i wonder why they couldn't just hang out indoors #let me in. let me innnnnn

Slumber party question! What's your earliest memory of encountering beauty? The first thing you can recall where you looked at something and were struck by how beautiful it was?

#i'm asking because i heard 'colors of the wind' today #and i remembered when i was little #i saw a commercial for pocahontas in front of one of our movies #and it showed 'colors of the wind'#and i distinctly remember a shot where she's standing on a cliff with her hair streaming back and leaves swirling around her #and thinking it was the most beautiful thing i'd ever seen in my life #(i didn't see the movie until i was much older and was very underwhelmed)#i also recall going to a county fair where a woman was selling doll clothes #and there was a pink dress with a skirt made of layers and layers of lace #i thought it was the most beautiful dress in the world and mom got it for me #(at a time when there was not much spare cash)#the other earliest moment is a memory of getting to walk beside my mother as she went to communion #and being so happy because my church had stained glass windows showing the mysteries of the rosary #so the front right corner showed the coronation of mary #and i thought that window was the loveliest thing i'd ever seen #it was the beautiful window into heaven only grown-ups got to see but this was my chance

i cannot ever get over gi-hun actually. the fact that he chooses to believe in the good of humanity even after witnessing what he has, and that he joins the games AGAIN with (mathematically) even LESS chances of survival JUST because he wants to save people, people who DON'T CARE, people who are SELFISH and who continuously betray and hurt him just fucking KILLS ME. a very big critique from many people (and i've noticed, especially men) about the second season and gi-hun's character is that he is stupid. they find him to be stupid that he has this weak spot for an uncaring crowd, that he comes back to the games to save people who wouldn't think of him twice, instead of going to his daughter. they think that him caring and despising a system this deeply is a sign of weakness and stupidity.

but if anything, i find it admirable. maybe i can't bring myself to hate him because i think i'd do the same thing. i watch him on-screen and think, "yeah, i would do that too", every single mistake, every single thing, i get him. and he may look stupid to some but i think if anything, he's just too caught up in an ideal world in which people care, but i find it admirable that this is his personality even after witnessing the previous games. he still has hope, they haven't wiped it away from him. comparing him to in-ho is like night and day, because in-ho was broken by the games and came back to perpetuate that same hurtful system, while gi-hun was broken by the games and came back to break the people that created the system, and the system itself.

he speaks to me, as an individual who clings to hope until his very last breath, who can never seem to learn from his mistakes because he is so stubborn, he wants to prove that humanity could, and should, have hope and that it's worth to fight for it, not to just leave for a different continent and forget about it. that's what draws me to him, this endless fight in him, i can't find him stupid because he's so desperate to change things. and he never gives up even after his friends die before him.

idk i just am really unwell about gi-hun. i think people treat him too harshly. i'm unsure how well this is worded, but what i really want to say is that i don't think he should be perfect and immediately learn from every single mistake he has ever made. the fact that he is this broken given his past, even before the games he's set up as this really caring and traumatized individual, and that they double down on his same characteristics that make him so incredibly real... he's just really special to me. i really admire the way he is written and i think he's a really good representation of people who fight for a change even when it all seems lost. he's just that kind of guy that doesn't, couldn't, will never give up. and i really love that.
