Eu cresci lentamente, mas após os 18 anos, os relógios aceleraram e as folhas do calendário começaram a cair. Estou por um fio. Não posso juntar meus pedaços e voltar para casa; nunca foi uma opção.

Sinto muito por não atender ao telefone. Enquanto você dorme, passo minhas madrugadas expulsando meus fantasmas, ouvindo um som genérico de chuva junto a Black Box Recorder, pois o silêncio dói tanto quanto as dores de cabeça sobre as quais você falava que viriam se eu não parasse de chorar.

Na última vez que você me visitou, eu desafiava a morte, permiti que ela tomasse conta. Havia um valentão no quarto e um feto abortado; então, precisei de mais pílulas. Mãe, eu nem queria isso.

Há alguns dias, algo bagunçou meu cérebro. Não tenho mais receio de que levem minha alma; eu já a perdi pelas mãos de um homem cruel.

Houve dias longos e desperdiçados, levantando de hora em hora para fazer algo para comer, exagerando em chás de camomila para conseguir dormir, por não suportar a pressão de estar comigo mesma, acordando 1h da manhã e limpando o sangue no travesseiro.

Not to mention as someone pointed out on the replies, even within the context to Jazz during that period, that haircut was absolutely influenced by Sonny Rollins. He started sporting it around '59 from what I can find, and he himself stated was done in homage to its Native roots.

it just dawned on me that idk if you have heard of this since it was kinda(??) an USA-past-niche(???), but i was curious if Albin could be considered a beatnik at all?? bc i kinda assumed he was a greaser-beatnik when i first saw him... and then i realized "wait, idk actually, i should ask" and then "........wait does elvira know what a beatnik is. irdk"

which like. idk how to really describe a "beatnik" besides pointing at Dean from "Iron Giant" and the coffee-shop spoken word poetry girl from "An Extremely Goofy Movie" lol but ill give it my best shot?? in case those references dont help?

but it was this USA subgroup that was very anti-materialistic and anti-consumerism, very into poetry and music and other arts, and they had a whole thing against conformity. which the conformity thing is kinda funny when i remember was renowned for weaking a lot of black, like black turtlenecks and leather jackets. they were kinda pretentious and arrogant, as a group flaw if there was any group flaws; but, at its best as a "group praise" of an inverse, it was really earnest, based on merit and intellect, and truly trying to find meaning in the world in a "pre-hippie-way" since this niche was predominantly 50s and 60s (aka: before USA's 70s hippies). it was also one of the more accessible sub-niches to get into, much like punk and goth and greasers, like it wasnt restricted away from lower classes or the impoverished (like how preps kinda were? idk. you get what i mean, the groups of people where the aesthetic necessitated wealth in order to access it) but yeah, feel free to fact-check me and look more into it

i was just curious bc i just Assumed Albin Was Part Of It and then realized "....wait elvira isnt from the USA and idk if beatniks were as international A Thing as like hippies or emo or whatever else??". maybe they are/were, maybe not, idfk. i just mostly recognize that "most people my age (Gen Z) in the USA dont even know what a beatnik is (at least in my sphere. ive off-handedly said 'beatnik' in conversation and was asked to backpedal and explain what that is almost every time ove said the word around new people. but maybe the other Gen Z people i hang out with specifically dont know, but most do? maybe?? idk lol)", hell, id probably not know what it is either if my big brother who is a published poet didnt get called "a modern-day beatnik" by people reviewing his work or introducing him or whatever. but maybe youre 110% aware of what a beatnik is, i got no clue, im not a mind-reader lmao i was just curious

Oh so THAT'S what that subgroup is called!! I was "aware" of beatnick characters, just didn't know the term was beatnick. When I look at pictures of it I'm sort of just like "uh. artist poet?" But no I wasn't actually aware of the subgroup or its history!! That's really interesting!

As for Albin he's supposed to be just a greaser, but some of the beatnick mentality does fit him considering his love for music and performance, and art as an extension. He's not very intellectual tho lmao!

My issues with the "parents and kids not liking each other in the Wednesday show" theme is not limited to Wednesday and Morticia. It's kind of astounding just how awful the parents are to their children in this series. Yes, Tyler's dad is an asshole but I'm talking about the Outcasts. Bianca's mum is in a cult and only turns up when she wants something from Bianca. Enid's mum wanted to send Enid to werewolf conversion therapy. I feel like the show was trying to say "Normies and Outcasts really aren't all that different" and, yeah, it just goes to show that even the freaks and weirdos treat their kids like shit. Like Normal Families™.

Which *pulls out bullhorn* IS THE COMPLETE BLOODY ANTITHESIS OF THE ADDAMS FAMILY!

The entire point of the original source material, and just about every adaptation, is that the Freaks and Weirdos of Society are more well-adjusted and behave like actual loving families compared to the Normal, Typically-Conservative families, who have issues up the wazoo. (TLDR; The Addams Family Meets a Beatnick is one of the best stories of the whole franchise because holy shit did that episode nail this message!) Yet the Outcast families in Wednesday are acting exactly like those Normie families.

Except for Eugene and his mums. They seem like they actually have a loving, functional relationship.
