Generally when the theatre house was in the middle of performances, especially for a big production like Anastasia, Kurt never missed a rehearsal; even if he wasn't needed for the day or whatever, he was still there assisting with choreography or blocking or set and costume design. Whatever they needed, he was there for. Today, though, the theatre house backstage staff were working on creating the opera house set while the costume designers were getting the costumes created, and with the Founder's Day festival going on…well, to be honest Kurt felt he was needed more at his father's shop than at the theatre. Burt liked to give most of the mechanics the day off for the festival so that they could enjoy the festivities, so he usually kept a skeleton crew on site to help with the Hummel Tire & Lube set up for the car show. Being there to help either work on the cars that still needed serviced in the garage or be outside to help with the show would help his father immensely. He'd considered hopping back and forth between the garage and the booth for Lizzie's, but his aunt had insisted he stay with his father. Make sure the man didn't outdo himself. He'd been outside working the car show most of the morning, but now he wanted some lunch, and he wanted some shade. Being alone in the office provided the perfect time for him to do both of those things plus practice some of his lines or songs for the show. Putting on the instrumental music for 'Everything to Win', he allowed himself to get lost in the emotion of the song and hadn't noticed the bell that signaled someone coming into the front office from outside. "I should be glad that we're breaking free, but nothing is what it was…I didn't know she mattered to me, but now I can see she does," He paced around the office as he continued the song. "Conman and princess get their wish, and fairytale comes true…funny, one small part I never knew….with everything to win, the only thing I lose is…" He paused for a moment, turning around in his step to see someone across from him. "You--jesus fuck!" He jumped back and tripped over the chair, thankfully landing against the desk instead of twisting his ankle as the chair fell over. "Sorry," he laughed, reaching over to turn the music off. "I didn't hear you come in, my bad."

All the excitement of Founder's Day was definitely heightening Dom's mood. He'd spent most the day at the games so far, admittedly, and dominating them if he did say so himself. Most of his efforts had gone towards beating people in cornhole but then he'd decided to move to the darts, confident he'd be able to win a pretty decent-sized stuffed animal from it. And, after several tries and admittedly way too much wasted money, a rather large stuffed puppy now rested in his arms. He'd debated what to do with it - if all else failed, he could pass it off to Hadley, he was sure she'd love it. But then another thought came to him - that of a rather devilishly handsome man he'd had a pretty memorable Valentine's Day date with several months back.
Which is how he'd found himself at Hummel Tires & Lube. He'd thought he might find Kurt outside working on the car show, but when he couldn't find him, he decided to cautiously enter the office instead, glancing around for several seconds when he heard singing and followed it to its source, a grin instantly overtaking his face when he realized it was Kurt singing. Standing there for several long moments, he couldn't help a laugh when Kurt finally noticed him and promptly almost hurt himself. "No, I'm sorry," he chuckled, shaking his head. "I'm just glad I didn't make you hurt yourself. I should have said something sooner, but..." he trailed off, shrugging his shoulders as his smile widened. "Can you blame me for wanting to listen to that voice as long as I could?"
