marcus grabbed hold of this story as an example of a trait that carmy admired, the chef who sticks at it until it's perfect, and that informs his behaviour in review

A friend (mush has been awakened as a therian for a while) helped me through some meditation, and I've discovered what I think matches up perfectly with my memory(s?), and that is *another drumroll*

Ugh, I got my wisdom teeth removed yesterday and recovering from that sucks. I can barely growl and chuff without my face hurting, and I'm craving meat, berries and other solid foods so badly. It's almost like I've been muzzled. :(

On the other hand, getting to stick my snout in some yummy ice-cream is always a treat. While I'm recovering, I think I might just try to finish the last issue of Seekers, which I haven't even started yet!

Favorite Game This Week: Terra Nil

If you haven't played this game yet, please try out Terra Nil! It is a gorgeous game about rehabilitating the earth after a catastrophic event. You places machines to heal the environment, clean waterways, reintroduce wildlife, and at the end recycle all your materials and fly on to the next (procedurally generated) map. I played this game over the course of about three days, but there are different difficulties and you unlock alternative challenges for different areas. This game was so healing and cute, while also being a fun challenge. It's almost like a city-builder in reverse. 10/10 would recommend

one thing i really appreciate about the writing in the bear is the way we mostly see the aftermath of some of the worse things richie says - we get his "in an effort of personal growth" bit rather than him saying something derogatory outside of that context and being actively called out on it (and creating something the audience can meme and script from, and lose the important bit, the consequence, entirely) - we get shown the result of someone (definitely sydney) telling him he's not impressing anyone with his edgy, offensive shit, and him, knowing that his position is more precarious than before now that the foundations are shifting, relishing the opportunity to describe how good he's being by not saying slurs anymore

((the rest of that conversation proves the rule - he says the shock funny ha ha ho ho offensive thing and everyone hates hearing it and sydney is clear on that it's bad - we don't need to see this for every time richie has said something bad, just for the one that feeds the plot))

it's a consequence focused alternative to the telling/showing rule in writing and i just really like that

(see also, "she does have nice eyes, no sense of humour" and "all that shit that went down with your dad, how i called him what i called him" - to a lesser extent, "i love taylor swift too, i just needed a break" since he probably didn't cuss his daughter out but we also don't need to see him yell at a child, given how memeable adults yelling at children in cars is, lol)
