Some quick thoughts on the new trophies for the Until Dawn remake and how they seem to affect the game/characters...
I am infinitely devastated that "Don't Scare Jessica to Death" is no longer a trophy. Jess is one of my favorite characters and we're left thinking she's dead for half the game, to the point where the Butterfly Effect menu very excitedly states "Jessica was still alive!" I think Jess surviving and her end credits sequence where she just seems so broken and damaged is just so iconic and impactful, it deserves its own trophy. Plus the name is top tier.
On the bright side, I do love the new "Drag Me Through Hell" trophy. That chase scene is what made me like Mike cause it shows he really loved Jessica, and I also reallyyyy like the movie Drag Me to Hell. (I'm biased for it because it's one of the first movies I watched with my boyfriend.)
So the changes to the Chris shoots Ashley/Ashley doesn't let Chris in trophy line... I personally like the idea that Ashley purposefully lets Chris die, but I understand that's an unpopular opinion, so I guess that's why they changed it. It's no longer a "fatal grudge" she held against Chris, she just "hesitated and failed to let Chris inside in time." Though I am curious what's necessary in order to get that option now. Can you shoot Ashley anymore? Why did she hesitate if she doesn't have a grudge? Do you play as Ashley during that segment now and you need to go fast before Chris dies? It raises a lot of questions...
Same with the removal of the "Instant Inferno" trophy. A lot of people say it's out of character for Sam to immediately hit the switch and kill everybody so that could be why they got rid of it, but again, that raises questions. Can Sam not instantly hit the switch anymore? Or are you just not rewarded for it anymore? Because if you can't do it immediately anymore, that seriously sucks, because it takes away so much pressure and intensity from the ending.
I actually love that they changed the Emily/Ashley slap to "Talk to eM." Not only does it keep the original pun intact, they now based it off of one of my favorite movies of all-time, Talk to Me! Also the acknowledgement of the slap is great, I'm glad they noticed.
While I personally disliked the movie Cabin in the Woods, I actually headcanoned it as one of Josh's favorite movies, so I guess I'm glad it got a mention in "The Cabin in the Blackwoods."
"We Need to Talk About Josh" I hate this trophy I hate this trophy I hate this trophy I hate this trophy... Just let the Washingtons be tragic!!! Josh will never have a happy ending anyway!!! His sisters are DEAD
I know "American Survivor in Canada" will cause some controversy cause a lot of people headcanoned the Until Dawn cast as Canadian, but I guess this implies they're American but the Blackwood Mountains are in Canada?
And lastly, I love love LOVE "I Know What You Did Last Year." I remember reading another post on Tumblr where their dad described Until Dawn as "Wendigo knows what you did last summer" and I probably laughed for ten minutes straight, lol. It's such a matching horror movie for Until Dawn and I'm so glad it got a place in the game now.
As a whole, I'm super mixed. It kind of seems like they're trying to take out a lot of negative endings/negative characteristics of the characters, and that bums me out a lot. Of course haters complained about this stuff, but the true fans like the character flaws and how they're not just one-dimensional and boring.

tbh i think my favorite part of the hatchetfield trilogy is when the characters interact w/ the audience
examples:
1. paul and emma escaping beanie's through the alleyway aka the seating area and having to squeeze past the audience
2. when emma tries to cry out to the audience for help after inevitable before being taken away by the hive
3. tom randomly jumpscaring some random people in the audience while he and becky are looking for hannah
4. uncle wiley handing that person the apple he took a bite out of (i always wonder what happened to that apple afterwards)
5. when max walks on stage after "as cool as i think i am" the audience cheers for him and he yells at them to shut up

Dancing With Death

You brought your hand up to knock at the large door of the Washington Lodge, you pulled your parka a little closer, waiting for any sign of life to let you into the warmth of the multimillion dollar home. It had been a year since Beth and Hannah’s mysterious disappearance, a tragedy in your eyes. You weren’t a part of the prank, you were passed out drunk with Chris and Josh when it all went down. You only heard about the prank afterwards when police were called and you finally sobered up. Josh was obviously shaken up about the whole thing, to say the least. You’d barely heard from him throughout the year and he distanced himself from the friend group, which you couldn’t blame him for. You were surprised to hear from him, even more surprised to learn he wanted all of you to come back to Washington Lodge in memory of the sisters.
Although it felt… weird, you felt morally obliged to come back and support Josh, which totally had nothing to do with your feelings for him. Not at all… okay, maybe a little. But, he probably didn’t feel the same. Which was fine, you could be the good friend to him that he needed right now. You hoped that after his time away he’d come back to the friend group, come to the parties and back into your life. Maybe it was a little selfish, but you wanted to see him for the sake of your feelings for him which really hadn’t dwindled in his absence. You worried for him, last you heard he was in therapy and taking medications for his depression and other mental health issues. As childish as it sounded, you wished you were able to take away his pain, or at least ease it. It hurt to see someone you cared about in pain.
Your mind wanders back to the night of the incident, things would’ve been different if Josh, you and Chris had been awake and aware of the pranks plans. Josh for sure wouldn’t have stood for it, you know you would’ve tried to stop it. After all, Hannah was one of your closest friends. You yourself found it hard to return to the friend group after the whole thing, harboring blame for everyone involved. Well, everyone except Sam who was your other closest friend. You know she tried to stop it afterwards when you had a chance to talk to her, she was just too late.
Your thinking is cut short by the sound of the door unlocking and creaking open. Your gaze follows the sound and lands on Josh as he stands in the doorway, a toothy grin plastered on his face. He says your name in a friendly and welcoming manner before pulling you into a bear hug.
“Oof!” you collide with his chest before wrapping your arms around him in return.
“Good to see you too, Josh.” Your hands slide back from his flannel as he lets you go and a gust of frigid wind bites at your nose and cheeks.
“Can I come in?” You ask, pointing to the fireplace. There was nobody else in the room but yet you had a feeling you were the last one to show up, as per usual.
“Oh yeah, sure sure. Come on in.” He steps aside, and allows you to come into the lodge before closing the door behind you, shutting out the cold. You drag in your luggage and set it in the foyer and then you make your way over to the fireplace, rubbing your hands together and holding them to the flame. Your fingers were freezing as you opted to wear fingerless gloves, perhaps an oversight on your end but you were inside now, so all was well.
“Can I, uh, take your coat?” He asks, gesturing to the coat rack where his vest was also hanging, his beanie dangling from the pocket.
“Sure,” You slip your arms from your parka before handing it over to Josh who takes it and hangs it from the coat rack. You’re now left in your black cardigan and jeans. “Thank you.”
“No problemo.” He smiles at you and makes finger guns, you shoot him back and he chuckles.
“Where’s everyone else?” You ask, looking around.
“Jess and Mike are on their way to the guest cabin, Emily and Matt are retrieving her bag from the cable car station, Sam is taking a bath and Chris just went to lay down.” He lists off, counting on his fingers.
“Left you all alone, did they?” You tease, watching as he makes his way over to you to warm his own hands.
“I’m wounded by their absence.” He pretends to stab his heart and acts wounded, you laugh at his theatrics.
“So dramatic.” You say, rolling your eyes in a silly manner. He scoffs, looking over at you.
“You’ve always been the dramatic one.” He claims, elbowing your side and causing you to squeal and fold in on yourself.
“Stooop!” You dodge away, running to get behind the couch and away from the prying elbow. “Behave.” You warn, smile betraying you.
“When have I ever not behaved?” He chuckles, raising an eyebrow at you. Now it was your turn to scoff.
“Oh, you want the list or the summary?” You ask, climbing over the back of the couch to bet comfy on the cushions. He watches you with something unknown in his eye, a foreign twinkle.
“What?” You ask, kicking off your boots before bringing your knees to your chest.
“Care for a drink, madam?” He disappears to the liquor cabinet before reemerging with a handle of vodka. The last time you had gotten drunk in this lodge, things didn't end well. But, a few sips couldn’t hurt, maybe it’d help you get warm. You also hoped Josh hadn’t turned to alcohol in his time of grief, but if some company was what he needed, you were happy to oblige.
“Oooo, are we Russian now?” You gesture to the vodka as he comes to sit down next to you, he turns the bottle in his hand. It was nice vodka, probably very expensive but you understood that the Washington family could definitely afford for you and Josh to take a few sips from off the top.
“Da.” He says in his best Russian accent before unscrewing the lid and offering you first drink. You take the bottle by the neck and take a sip off the top and when you look back to Josh to offer up the bottle, he’s looking at you in disbelief.
“What?” You ask, blushing under the weight of his gaze.
“That’s all you’re gonna drink? Where’s the black-out, shit-faced, party girl I know?” He smiles his signature grin at you before taking the bottle and taking a hearty drink. He grimaces against the alcohol taste before setting the bottle on the nearby table.
“She’s retired. Focusing on her studies.” You say, a teasing tone lacing your voice. You and Josh were both in college at the time of the disappearances but Josh understandably dropped out of his studies. You, on the other hand, were still up at the local college pursuing your degree.
“Hey,” You start, your teasing tone turning into one of concern, “Should you be drinking with the meds you’re taking?” You tried your best to sound sincere, because you were. You didn’t want him hurting himself or anything just to have a drink with you.
“I’m fine.” He says, face immediately dropping. You move to put a hand over his and he looks at the contact then back at your face.
“I didn’t say you weren’t.” You practically whisper, thumb caressing over his knuckles.
“I uh…” He starts, gaze not leaving yours, “I stopped taking them.”
“Is that a good thing or a bad thing?” You ask, searching his features for the answer before he can say it. You don’t find anything.
“Good… I think.” He says after a moment, his eyes shift from yours and to the side, like he was thinking of something. You retreat your hand and lean back, your legs draping over his lap. He immediately shifts and welcomes your incursion, hands beginning to fiddle with the hem of your pants. This was nice, your relationship was basically the same as it had been a year ago, even though you’d barely seen each other since.
“I’m just glad you’re doing better.” You express honestly. All you wanted was for Josh to be okay, even though you knew the pain of losing his sisters would never go away. Hearing that he was off his meds just left you confused on how to feel. Was he off them because he was doing better? Or were they not working, or worse yet, was he giving up on them?
“Thanks for coming back, I know it probably wasn’t easy.” He says, a rare sincerity showing itself. Usually Josh was a pretty goofy guy, witty and sarcastic and all around a good sense of humor. Seeing him now, timid and honest, was something you’d seen before, but not often.
“Of course. Anything for you.” You smile as he rests his arms on your shins and studies your face.
“Careful, you’re giving me a lot of power there.” He grins, returning to his goofy self.
“Well, maybe not anything.” You trail off, a smile plastered across your face.
“Well then, I command thee to drinketh upon thine vodka.” He reaches to grab the bottle from the table and hands it to you while committing to his false accent.
“Well, if you command it, I suppose I have no choice.” You take the bottle and take a meaningful gulp of the clear liquid, clearly making a face against the taste as Josh laughs at you.
“Wow, you really have lost your touch.” He says, chuckling.
“Oh whatever, sorry I’m not used to your ridiculously expensive vodka.” You dismiss, passing back the bottle and watching him take his turn.
The two of you continue like that for a while, just passing the bottle between you both and getting closer and closer, and louder and louder. Soon enough you’ve got him trapped in a hearty laugh, you’re gripping your sides from cackling and tears are springing from the corners of your eyes. You bring a finger to dab at your eyes, not trying to mess up your mascara. But then, you fall into silence and your gaze slowly makes its way over to Josh, who is already looking at you, lips parted as his tongue dashes out to wet them.
“What?” You ask, suddenly feeling self conscious.
“Are you still willing to do anything for me?” He asks, rather seriously.
“Within reason.” You try to make light of the serious tone overcoming the space around you and it seems to work, Josh’s lips twitch into a smile momentarily before he’s pulling on your legs, chugging you towards him.
“Well then, come here.”
“Josh!-” You squeal as you slide across the couch. Your heart was racing, what did he want? What was he going to do? You’ve had feelings for him for so long, could it be possible he felt the same way?
In a moment your knees are bent over his lap, your body much closer to his as he turns to look at you.
“Would it be within reason to ask to kiss you?”
Your stomach does a backflip and your mouth goes dry. Was he serious? You’d had a crush on this man for years, ever since Hannah had brought you into the friend group in high school. She was younger than you, but you both found yourself in the same chemistry class where you became fast friends. Josh was always the forbidden fruit, someone who you wanted but could never have. Not because you thought Hannah would disapprove, no, in fact she actually knew about your crush, but it was forbidden because you never thought he’d want you too. You always thought he wanted Sam, which you couldn’t blame him for. She was beautiful. But here you were, legs draped across his lap, bodies merely inches apart and he was asking to kiss you.
“Are you being serious?” You ask, “Josh, I’ve wanted to kiss you since senior year.”
“I guess we have some time to make up for then.” He says, hand skating up your arm and tangling in your hair as he brings your face to his and connects your lips. You melt into the touch as he tilts his head to get even closer, his free hand coming to rest on the bent knee positioned over his lap.
Your eyes flutter shut as his lips meld to yours. The kiss starts out slow, just a sweet connection of your lips gradually moving against each other. But soon enough you feel his tongue at the seam of your mouth, so you open and take him greedily, your hands coming to rest on his neck and on the side of his face. Your thumb swipes across his cheek as his hand pulls on your knee, pulling on it gently.
“Come here.” He grunts against you as he guides you into his lap, straddling him. Your tongue meets his as he enters your mouth again and you moan into the contact, hands moving from his face to run through his hair, his own hands go to your ass, holding you against him as your lips engage in a dance for dominance.
He parts from you to kiss the corner of your mouth, your cheek, your jaw before arriving at your neck where he tenderly nips at the sensitive flesh. You roll your head back and allow him access and when he bites down only to lick over it and play nice, you let out a sweet moan. He nuzzles into your shoulder and your arms go around his shoulders, embracing him. You could feel yourself getting wet from the kissing alone.
“Keep making noises like that and I won’t be able to contain myself.” He grunts into your hair and you push him back just a little, just enough to have him look at your face.
“I don’t want you to contain yourself.” You say honestly, you were putting it all out in the open. How many times had you raked your own hands down your body imagining they were his? You were ready for this, hell, you yearned for it. Yearned for him.
“Yeah?” He asks, searching your eyes.
“Yeah.” You confirm, a low tremor in your voice from the sheer excitement and want.
“Get up and follow me.” He says, you obey, sliding off his lap and allowing him to get up. He turns back to you, holding out a hand. You take it, allowing him to lead you up the stairs, around the corner and into his old room. You pause for a second as he closes the door behind you and you take the time to look around the room. It was identical to the last time you’d seen it, when you would sit on the floor with him and Chris and play videogames on the flatscreen across the room. The only thing that was different was the dust covering the shelves and end tables, it was clear the Washingtons hadn’t been here all year. You didn’t blame them.
“Looks the same.” You observe as he wraps his arms around your waist from behind, observing the dark room with you.
“Haven’t really touched it since…” He lingers but doesn’t finish.
“But the, uh, bed is clean. Washed all the bedding before everyone got here.” He purrs in your ear, hands going from around your middle and to your hips. You turn in his grasp, his hands just slide along your body as you do until they’re planted on your hips again.
“Better get to it then.” You say lowly, wrapping your arms around his shoulders. That appears to be all the invitation he needs, dipping his head to connect your lips once more. He gently pushes you backwards until the back of your knees hit the mattress. You help him in ripping off your cardigan, discarding it somewhere across the room. Next to go was your spaghetti-strap tank top, leaving you in your bra and jeans. He leans back to admire you, hands sliding up your waist and to your breasts. He cups them gently, squeezing you like you were delicate glass. You grab at his flannel and begin to chug it down his shoulders, he assists you before letting it fall to the ground. His shirt joins the pile soon and now it was your time to admire him. You lean back in to lavish his neck in kisses and licks and move down to his shoulder, biting gently as his hands run up and down your back and he hums lowly in his throat. His hand hitches when it hits your bra strap and he expertly unhooks it, leaving it hanging around your shoulders. You pull back to shuck it from your body. He shamelessly stares, bringing his hand back to them once again and testing the weight of you in his hands. His gaze flicks back up to yours.
“Lay down.” He invites, watching you as you take it and flop down onto the mattress, propping yourself on your elbows as you meet his gaze. He bends over you, unbuttoning your jeans before hooking fingers around your belt loops and beginning to tug your pants down your legs. You assist by lifting your ass off the bed as he gets them past your thighs, to your shins and then off completely. He then works at his own pants before pulling them off, leaving him in his boxers.
He looked so good, your mouth watered for him. You wanted to taste him, to feel him against your tongue, anything to make him feel good. You sit up before standing completely. He looks at you confused but when you sink to your knees in front of him, it seems to click.
“Can’t say no to that.” He chuckles, watching as you hook your fingers under the waistband of his boxers. You slowly bring them down, revealing the last bit of his happy trail, top of the pelvis until finally his cock springs free, half-hard. You peer up at him, a little smile tugging at your lips as you lick your hand and begin to pump him slowly. He groans as you stroke him, head tilting backwards and eyes fluttering closed, which you thought was funny considering you hadn’t even taken him into your mouth yet.
But then you finally do, starting at the tip, you swallow him down as much as you can before wrapping your hand around the part you cannot. Then, you start to slowly come off him, lips and tongue running over every ridge and vein until you reach the very tip again and repeat the process. If you could bottle the noises he made while you worked him over, you would and keep it forever. His grunts and groans were everything you’d ever wanted to hear since you’d met him. All those nights fantasizing was nothing compared to the real thing. His hand comes to the back of your head, not to push you or hurry you along, but just to feel you as you slide back and forth. You fight back a gag as he hits the back of your throat, hot tears spring from your eyes but it’s worth it just to make him feel good. You mourn for your mascara but this was about him, so makeup be damned.
“God, you're good at that.” He moans before pulling out of your mouth with a pop. You look up at him, drool covering your chin as you bring a hand to wipe it up.
“And as much as I’d like to paint your pretty face, I wanna feel what it’s like to be inside you.”
You nod and he helps you stand before escorting you to the bed, you lay down, pulling off your remaining panties and throwing them across the room. You’d have to go on a scavenger hunt to find all of your belongings later but that wasn’t a problem for now.
You peer over at him when you hear a rummaging sound and he’s pawing through his bedside drawer.
“Condom?” You ask, resting your head on your bent arm as you watch.
“I swear there’s one in here.” He says, frustrated.
“Aha!” He pulls out a foil wrapped condom before tearing open the packaging with his teeth. He pulls it out, rolling it onto his erect member before using two fingers to beckon you over.
“Come to the edge of the bed.” He says, voice like honey. You shake your head though, you’d wanted to ride him for a while now and tonight seemed like the perfect opportunity.
“I want to ride you.” You say, scooting over and patting the space beside you.
“Come get comfy.” You purr, flipping over so your ass was on display. It seems to work as you watch his adam's apple bob before he’s climbing into bed and settling in amongst the pillows.
“I could never say no to you.” He smiles at the ceiling before turning his attention to you.
“I’m going to remember you said that.” You say, climbing over him. He immediately goes for your tits, grasping them in both hands before running his thumbs over your perked nipples. You moan as he does, the attention sending energy straight down to your core. You look back down at him to see him biting his lip as he watches his hands play with the soft flesh.
“Like what you see?” You ask, your hands slotting over his against your chest.
“Always have.” He admits, eyes finally finding yours as you peer down at him from your perched position. You tilt your head, trying to find the answer in his eyes before you even asked the question.
“Really?”
He drops his hands to your thighs and sighs.
“Well duh. Have you seen you?” He squeezes your thighs gently. “You’re like super hot.”
You laugh, taking a hand to cup the side of his face.
“Wish you told me that when we were seniors.” You say, he turns to kiss your wrist.
“Live and learn.” He chuckles before tapping your thigh. “Now, are you gonna do what you came here for?”
You look behind you, he’s still angrily erect, a bead of precum drips from the tip.
“That looks painful.” You coo, scooting backwards, “Let me fix that for you.”
“Thank God.” He sighs to the ceiling, you just laugh again before taking him in your hand and running his cock through your folds, slicking him in your juices. You were ready for him, had been since he kissed you, even more when he groped you so shamelessly.
Once he was well and truly slicked, you align him with your entrance before slowly sinking down on him. You cry out as you take him inch by inch, he lets out a guttural moan when you finally hit the base, stretching you out.
“Shit, you’re tight.” He grits through his teeth, hands coming to hold your waist in support.
He sits up and ducks his head to lavish your nipple in attention, sucking gently before licking over with his hot tongue. You sigh at the sensation, nails raking over his back as you begin to move up slowly, rising on your knees. He felt so good, like he was made for you. The burning sensation had already subsided and all there was now was sweet pleasure. You wondered what your relationship would be like after this, were you going to go on actual dates now, be fuck buddies? You knew your feelings were too strong for him to be anything casual, your heart would break at the prospect of this being a one time thing. But it all depended on what he wanted, what he thought of you. He admitted he had thought you were attractive to him since you’d met but is that all he felt? Lust?
He moves to kiss your shoulder, nipping at the skin there as you sink back down. He could be so tender, you’ve learned in your time with him tonight, so caring. It again made you question his intentions, how could someone who was so loving want just to fuck you? He brings his head up to kiss you again, swallowing down your moans as you sink back down, more quickly this time, harder. Soon enough you’ve got a pace down and he’s snapping his hips up to meet you in the middle, creating a delicious friction that has you hurtling towards an orgasm at lightning speed. You can see it on the horizon, steadily approaching.
You separate your tangled tongues to warn him of your upcoming release.
“Josh,” You pant as he snaps his hips up once more, you pause to let out a moan, “Baby, I’m gonna cum.”
“By all means,” He quips, letting out another grunt as you meet his pelvis.
With another thrust, you’re there, cumming as you cry out his name. Your walls flutter around him and it’s enough to have him flustered.
“Oh shit, I’m gonna-” But he doesn’t finish before he fills the condom with his seed, letting out a long moan that makes you clench around him. You loved the sounds he made throughout this whole experience, loved the way he touched you, the way he fucked you, you loved… him.
After he is finished, you slide from him, settling in amongst the sheets next to him. He pulls off the condom before tying it off, tossing it into the trash can beside the bed. After, he pulls you onto his chest and wraps an arm around you, fingers running up and down your spine. You rest a hand on his stomach, eyes fluttering shut after the effort you put into making love to him. He kisses your temple before checking the time on the alarm clock on the side table.
“Shit.” He mutters. You peek your eyes open.
“What?” You ask, heart dropping for some reason, like you could’ve caused the sudden change of mood.
“I’ve gotta do something.” He says, unwrapping from you and finding his clothes. You follow in suit, finding your panties before sliding them up your legs. Before long you’re both dressed. He catches your hand and pulls you into an embrace.
“Listen…” He says, pulling away. You dread the look on his face, like he was fighting something internally.
“What? Is something wrong?” You ask quietly, almost afraid of the question.
“I know I invited you here.” He starts, for some reason he looks… guilty?
“But you need to leave.”
Your heart sinks to your stomach… what?
“What?” You ask, voice harboring a little quiver.
“Shit’s about to go down and I don’t want you near it.” He says, honestly. But, what did that mean? What shit was about to go down?
“What do you mean?” You ask, completely lost.
“I need you to trust me.” He grabs your shoulders and gives you a look. A look that strikes you as the most serious you’d ever seen him. You have no choice but to trust him, to do as he asked. You still had a million questions but his stare silences you.
“I do.” Is what you settle on and he kisses your forehead at the acceptance.
“Great.” He lets you go before making his way to the door and opening it for you, you walk through and he follows closely as you make your way down the stairs and to the door. You were sore, still feeling him between your legs. Normally, it’d be something that made you blush but you were feeling too confused, too puzzled to think of anything else as you pull on your parka and grab your suitcase. You turn to say something but he grabs your face and kisses you deeply. You return in, eyes closing and hands going to his waist before you both pull apart.
“I promise everything will make sense by dawn.” He says, letting you go and opening the large front door. You just nod, what else could you do?
So, you left, stepping into the cold night and soon enough you’re in the cable car, slowly making your way down the mountain. A million questions swarmed your head but those would have to wait… until dawn.  ─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ─── A note: Hope you enjoyed that! Had to change a few things for the plot to work but nonetheless hope it was fun to read! ─── ・ 。゚☆: .☽ . :☆゚. ─── Taglist (comment to be on it)

the snow crunched beneath your boots as you walked up the path toward the washington lodge, a cozy warmth settling in your chest despite the chill in the mountain air. it was the annual winter getaway, the weekend all of you had looked forward to for months. mike, emily, matt, jess, sam, beth, hannah, josh… and you.
you were all gathering at the washingtons’ family lodge again, tucked away in the mountains and far from the bustle of everyday life. it was supposed to be a few days of skiing, relaxing, and rekindling old friendships.
but this year, you had more than just a weekend of fun ahead of you. you had a secret.
a secret that wore a mischievous smile, cracked endless jokes. josh washington, the boy you had grown up with, the one who had always been the most unserious out of the group, always at the center of everything, had somehow, unexpectedly, become more than just a friend to you.
it started over the summer. the two of you had stayed behind after one of his many house parties, helping him clean up the aftermath of yet another wild night. everyone had gone home, the house had grown quiet, except for the low hum of music still playing in the background.
you had shared a drink on his back porch, watching the stars while talking about nothing and everything. something had very obviously changed between the two of you that night. the way he had looked at you, the way your laughter had slowed into something softer, more intimate. by the end of the evening, the two of you had shared a kiss that had left your head spinning.
that was months ago, and since then, you and josh had been sneaking around, keeping whatever this was under wraps. it had been fun, the secrecy giving everything an added thrill. stolen glances, secret texts, hurried kisses when no one was looking. but now, with everyone gathering at the lodge for a weekend of fun, things were bound to get complicated.
you hadn’t told anyone yet. not sam, not beth or hannah, none of the people who knew both of you inside and out. it wasn’t that you didn’t trust them, or that you didn’t want them to know. you just… didn’t know how to tell them.
what would they think? and what was this thing with josh, really? it wasn’t like the two of you had talked about being official. it was a whirlwind, exciting and new, but it wasn’t defined. at least not yet.
the snow already beginning to fall lightly around you, your mind drifted to josh. the thought of spending it together, sneaking off for moments alone in the middle of all the chaos, excited you but it also made you nervous. how long could the two of you keep this up before someone noticed?
Tumblr media
the lodge came into view, the wooden structure stood tall and inviting, smoke curling from the chimney, the lights already glowing in the windows. a small smile spread across your lips as you saw sam waving to you from the front porch, bundled up in her bright colored beanie and jacket.
“hey!” she called out, her breath clouding in the cold air as you made your way up the steps. “i was starting to think that you’d gotten lost in the snow or something. it’s freezing!”
“wouldn’t miss this for the world,” you replied, pulling her into a quick hug. you took a moment to glance around, “is everyone already here?”
“yeah,” sam said, grinning. “inside, warming up with some hot cocoa. josh is trying to convince mike to try one of his weird marshmallow experiments again.”
you couldn’t help but laugh. of course josh would already be up to something. “sounds about right,” you said, trying to keep your tone light even though you were getting flustered just at the mention of his name.
as the two of you walked inside, the familiar warmth of the lodge washed over you. the smell of cinnamon and the crackling of the fireplace filled the air. voices and laughter echoed from the living room, and you smiled as you saw the group sprawled out across the couches. josh was in the middle of it all, perched on the edge of the coffee table, arguing with mike about the “proper” way to toast marshmallows.
he caught your eye as you stepped in, and for a split second, his face softened in a way that made you melt a little. it was subtle, but you saw it, his eyes lingering on you just a little longer than necessary, the corner of his mouth twitching into a smile he tried to hide. you gave him a small, knowing smile in return, but quickly looked away before anyone could notice.
“finally!” josh said loudly, standing up and making his way toward you. “i thought you’d bailed on us. couldn’t handle the cold?”
you rolled your eyes, trying to play it cool. “please, i grew up here too, remember? i can handle a little snow.”
“yeah, sure you can,” he teased, his eyes twinkling as he bumped your shoulder lightly. it was such a small gesture, one that no one else would think twice about, but you hadn’t realised how much you’d been missing his slight touches, even if it had only been a week.
the rest of the group greeted you with their usual warmth. beth pulling you into a tight hug, jess chirping on about how she couldn’t wait for the campfires to begin, emily making some comment about how you were late. everything felt familiar and comfortable, except for the subtle tension that hummed between you and josh. you were hyper aware of every glance, every fleeting touch, every moment you were near him, wondering if anyone else could pick up on it.
“alright, let’s get this party started!” mike called out, standing up with a grin. “i say we hit the hot tub before the snow really starts coming down.”
the group started to disperse, everyone heading upstairs to change, and you slipped into the hallway, trying to sneak off to your room before anyone could stop you. but just as you rounded the corner, you felt a hand wrap gently around your wrist, tugging you towards them.
your breath catching as you found josh standing behind you, his expression teasing but his voice low. “you trying to avoid me already?”
you glanced around to make sure no one was nearby before giving him a playful shove. “i’m not avoiding you,” you whispered back, though the smile on your face gave you away. “i’m just trying to keep a low profile. you know… not let everyone figure us out.”
josh raised an eyebrow, a grin tugging at the corner of his mouth. “and here i thought you liked the whole sneaking around thing. adds a little excitement, don’t you think?”
you rolled your eyes but couldn’t suppress the smile that broke through. “maybe,” you admitted, getting a little giddy when he looked at you like that.
“well, i don’t know how long we can keep this up,” he said, his voice dropping even lower as he took a step closer. “it’s getting harder and harder to keep my hands off you, you know.”
you felt heat creep up your neck, and you had to force yourself not to look down the hall to make sure no one was watching. instead, you met his gaze and smirked. “well, you’re just going to have to try, aren’t you?”
he grinned, leaning in just enough that you could feel his breath on your skin. “mm…we’ll see how long that lasts,” he murmured before pulling away, leaving you with your heart pounding in your chest as he disappeared back into the living room.
you stood there for a moment, catching your breath and trying to compose yourself. it was getting harder to act normal around him, especially now that you were surrounded by your friends. you weren’t ready for them to know yet. you didn’t even know what this was yet. this thing between you and josh. it was exciting and fun, but it was also confusing and new.
Tumblr media
the weekend continued, and for the most part, you and josh had managed to keep things under wraps. there were close calls, of course. like the time you had slipped out of the hot tub early, claiming you were too cold, only for josh to mysteriously leave five minutes later. you had barely found a moment alone in the hallway before mike and matt came stomping up the stairs, laughing loudly about something ridiculous and forcing you both to pretend nothing had been happening.
then there were the little touches that lingered a bit too long, the private smiles exchanged when you thought no one was looking. you weren’t sure how much longer you could keep it together. josh, of course, seemed to be having the time of his life, teasing you whenever he got the chance, whispering suggestive comments in your ear just to make you hot and bothered when no one was paying attention. he was enjoying the secrecy, the thrill of it all.
but by the second day, you started to feel like someone might be onto you.
it was subtle, just small things, like how jess would raise an eyebrow when she caught you and josh talking a bit too close in the corner of the living room, or the way hannah seemed to linger whenever she entered a room the two of you were in together. you couldn’t help but feel like they were noticing things, and it was only a matter of time before someone said something.
then the slip up happened…
it was late, after dinner, and most of the group had retreated to their rooms or were hanging out in the living room playing games. you and josh had slipped away, managing to steal a moment alone in the back hallway near the kitchen. you had been talking, laughing quietly about something that had happened earlier when josh had suddenly leaned in and kissed you, quick, soft.
you didn’t hear the footsteps until it was too late.
beth’s voice cut through the quiet like a knife. “uh… am i interrupting something?”
your heart dropped into your stomach as you and josh sprang apart, turning to see beth standing in the hallway, her arms crossed and an amused look on her face.
you opened your mouth to say something, anything, but josh beat you to it, running a hand through his hair and laughing in that easy, carefree way he always did when he was caught off guard.
“well, uh, this is awkward,” he said, shooting you a quick glance before turning back to his sister. “beth, hey, what’s up?”
beth raised an eyebrow, her lips twitching into a smirk. “what’s up? really? i think i should be asking you two that.”
you felt your face heat up, your mind searching for an explanation, but josh just shrugged, clearly not as rattled as you were. “i mean, it’s not what it looks like.”
beth laughed. “oh, come on, josh. don’t even try to play that card.”
josh grinned, rubbing the back of his neck sheepishly. “alright, fine. you caught us. but, you know, could you maybe… not say anything? for now, at least?”
beth gave him a look, her expression softening a bit. “you know i won’t tell anyone. but you’re going to have a hard time keeping this a secret for long. especially with the way you two keep sneaking around.”
josh winked at her. “that’s half the fun, right?”
“ugh gross!”
beth nodded, giving you both a small smile before turning to leave. “alright. but seriously, josh, be smart about this.”
as she disappeared down the hall, you let out a breath you hadn’t realised you were holding. josh turned to you, his expression a mix of amusement and something more serious.
“well,” he said, leaning against the wall with a lopsided grin. “that could’ve gone worse.”
you laughed nervously, your heart still racing. “yeah, could’ve gone better too.”
josh’s grin softened, and he stepped closer, brushing a strand of hair from your face. “don’t worry. we’ll figure this out, okay?”
you nodded, feeling a little more at ease. “yeah. we will.”
Tumblr media
it didn’t take long for beth’s discovery to spread. it wasn’t that she told anyone, but secrets like yours had a way of coming out, especially when the whole group was crammed together for a prolonged amount of time. by the time the third day rolled around, there was a noticeable shift in the air. people were starting to know, little comments from mike, knowing smiles from sam, and more than one snarky comment from emily.
but the final straw came that evening.
the group was gathered around the fire, playing a round of truth or dare. it was a harmless enough game, until it wasn’t.
it started with silly dares, like mike having to shotgun a beer in one go, or jess being dared to dive into the snow in just her underwear. but when it was sam’s turn to ask you, she gave you a look that had you nervous.
“alright,” sam said, leaning back in her chair, her eyes twinkling with mischief. “truth or dare?”
you hesitated for a second, knowing that whatever you chose, you were in for it. “truth.”
sam grinned. “okay… is there something going on between you and josh?”
the room went silent.
your blood ran cold, and you could feel every single pair of eyes on you. josh, who was sitting across from you, stiffened slightly but didn’t say anything. his eyes met yours for a split second before flicking away.
you swallowed hard, trying to think of a way out, but there was no escaping this. everyone was waiting, and you could practically feel the anticipation hanging in the air.
finally, you sighed, feeling your face flush with heat. “okay, fine,” you said, glancing at josh before looking back at the group. “you caught us..”
the room erupted into a mix of laughter, cheers, and surprised exclamations. mike nearly fell off his chair, jess clapped her hands together with excitement, and sam just grinned triumphantly.
“i knew it!” mike shouted, pointing at you and josh. “i knew something was up!”
jess leaned forward, her eyes wide with excitement. “how long has this been going on? how did we not notice?!”
you laughed, feeling both embarrassed and relieved at the same time. “a few months, actually. we’ve, uh, been trying to keep it quiet.”
“clearly,” emily said with a smirk, crossing her arms. “not that quiet though.”
josh finally spoke up, his usual easygoing grin back on his face. “what can i say? we’re just really good at sneaking around.”
sam laughed, shaking her head. “well, the cat’s out of the bag now.”
you couldn’t help but smile as the group continued to tease and ask questions, the initial tension fading as the atmosphere became lighter and more playful. it was a relief, in a way, to have the secret out in the open. no more sneaking around, no more pretending.
just you and josh, together, in front of the people who mattered to you most.

the other matthews - m.knies
Tumblr media
masterlist
pairing: matthew knies x fem!matthews!reader
warnings: not intended for minors + oral (f receiving) + build up
a/n: slightly inspired by the book icebreaker by Hannah grace… happy frozen frenzy! leafs won and I’m here to spread the good vibes!
he’s not lost—well maybe. it’s his fault for listening to Mitch’s advice on trying new places that aren’t around his apartment, and now he’s twenty minutes away with a bag of cold food and an empty stomach. so much for listening to his teammates that’s his rookie mistake.
you’d seen him pace around the same block at least five times. his golden brown hair flops in the Toronto breeze under his beanie, and if it wasn’t for feeling the Canadian kindness you wouldn’t have extended the empty seat across from you for him.
“do you know where we are?” he’s shivering. the maple leafs sweatshirt wasn’t keeping him warm, and the phone in his hand has gone cold. his finger tips are red mixture with white, not even his pockets or a warm cup of hot chocolate could keep him warm.
“well for you, you’re about a ten minute walk, for me, it’s it’s around the corner.”
his eyebrows shift upwards, head cocks to the right like a puppy confused, “do I know you?” he would’ve just assumed you were a leafs fan happy to have him across from you, or just an overall good citizen, but you knowing his exact coordinates? maybe you’re a stalker— he’s hoping it’s not that.
“depends, but you really should get home. my brother wouldn’t like to see you in his spot.”
said brother was emerging from the bathroom, and in the corner of his eyes was a storm of a big nightmare. broad shoulders and bulging biceps were enough to alert him out of the seat and out the door.
“who was that?”
“just another lost American.”
“what are you doing here?”
he’s a little shocked, a thick golden brown hair pulled back from his shower, he looks good but that’s not what you’re supposed to be focused on. you’re waiting for your brother to exit out that locker room so you can head to his apartment and his fluffy guest bed.
his mind races a million places, his first stalker? a teammates sibling he may, or hopefully not of, hooked up with? a leafs team member? he’s thankful for the locker room door opening to put a halt on his racing mind.
“hey, you ready to go?”
the broad figure reappears, it’s startling almost and instead of running like the last time, he sticks around to find out that the terrifying brother, was his own teammate. Auston Matthews.
“yeah! I’m just getting acquainted with your rookie.” you point in his direction, making your brothers head snap in the direction of Matthew. he looked shaken, a bit shocked and confused.
“ah,” Auston sighs throwing an arm around his rookies shoulders, “don’t get too comfortable, she’s only here for another week.”
his brown eyes dart between you and Auston, the connections finally sinking. your facial features awfully similar to Auston’s and your smiles deepen within the same creases, how could he be such a fool to never realize that? all along you knew him as your brothers teammate, and he knew you as just a girl with infinite amount of knowledge.
“another week?” his voice comes out squeaky, like the air in his lungs are trapped by the new found information. it’s the first time he actually looked at you as more than just someone, he took the chance to finally recognize your beauty and your similarities to the man that stands beside you.
“yeah I had back to school next week.”
all he can do is nod. he can’t breathe. not a single word exits his mouth as he waves you two off and a hand claps over his shoulder allowing the air to escape his lungs, “she’s way out of your league.” Mitch’s voice rings his ears.
“she’s Auston’s sister.”
“youngest, may I add.” Mitch spins into Matthew’s view, “and didn’t you listen to Auston last week? no dating his sisters especially y/n. swear your mind is always in outer space.”
and Mitch wasn’t entirely wrong. while Matthew was present for his teammates “my sister is coming” speech matthew was not expecting Auston’s sister to be a five foot something beauty with thick dark brown locks that have his mind in a twisted game.
“I was present,” he swallows turning his head back to the exit where you’re long gone, “but I wasn’t entirely present.”
the charity event is packed with old rich men accompanied by young girls, and it exhausted you. handshake after handshake nothing seemed to change, their donations were generous but you grew up boredom quickly after the second round of handshaking.
the drink slides across the bar, and it doesn’t take a second to register in your mind who it could be, because by the time your eyes flicker up from the cocktail matthew is beside you, “so you failed to mention Auston.”
“our conversations kept running short.” you offer a weary smile taking the rim to your lips, sipping down the alcohol.
“they were long enough for you to throw in your older brothers name.”
you can’t help but roll your eyes, still taking long sips of the drink in your hands here and there, “I thought you were smart enough to figure it out. I guess I gave you too much credit.”
“don’t sell me too short, y/n.” he gives you a cocky grin. it’s one you want to swallow whole and knock him silly, but it ignited a fire in your stomach you were sure was not there prior to this. you blame his ability to dress clean. it’s definitely messing with you.
“prove me wrong then, prove to me you’re smart.” it’s definitely the alcohol talking, but you know he’s a determined individual. if he’s anything like your brother, he loves a good competition, and you can see the spark in his eyes.
“I can do that, doll.” he steps closer, his brown eyes are darker than they were before. you hadn’t noticed his hand was resting on your hip until he pulled you closer to his chest, “I bet I can find your clit faster than any other man could.” his voice is low, it vibrates against your eardrum making your body curl closer to his with a chill down your spine.
your mouth is dry, the only thing you can do is cock your head upwards and hope your eyes are testing him, and with your luck, he’s whisking you off to the nearest bathroom.
your heart is hammering against your chest. taking one last glance behind you, your brother is nowhere in sight and thank fuck he’s not when Matthew locks the door and slams your body against the steel door.
his tongue is fierce, fighting and playing with yours, you’re both exchanging saliva at this point. he’s lift you up by the back of your thighs. setting you on the edge of the sink, he kneels down tossing your legs over his shoulders. it shouldn’t be such a hot scene, but damn it was, especially when his lips just ghost your inner thighs, and his fingers dance your wet panties.
you have to bite down on your bottom lip, you’re so wet just by his touch you can’t help wanting to let the moan out.
he’s patient, takes his time it’s almost like he’s forgotten the mission until his tongue nudged your entrance and you’re washed with a different emotion. one you’d never felt before, it made your legs shake, whatever his tongue was doing he must’ve found the clit and it was definitely not by accident when he nudged it again.
you role yourself closer to his face, he pulls away quickly before cum is all he can see, “didn’t even need a map, it’s just too easy.”
“you’re a prick, knies.”
“Aw we were just getting to know each other, Matthews.”

Hanging Onto Humanity | Chris Hartley + Wendigo!Reader
...........
Note: This is a revision of an Until Dawn fic I wrote back in 2016 on DeviantArt. Felt like it could use some improvements and changes. The original is still on my page so if y'all wanna read my 16 year old-self's writing be my guest.
Anyways enjoy Wendigo!Reader encountering Chris while still retaining their humanity and him recognizing them in a moment of despair.
Spoilers for one of Ashley's deaths
❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
'It's not her. It's not her. It's not-'
Hannah's shrill scream overshadowed Ashley's own cries of shock as the wendigo sprung up from the trapdoor, having caught her completely off-guard.
Before the poor girl could react, her head was caught between two large hands that twisted her neck, a sickening and squeamish crack following suit. Her now lifeless body dropped to the floor, head landing beside it with a splat and her eyes losing whatever light remained in them.
Within the shadows of the mines, you could only watch in sadness as her corpse was dragged beneath the door, to where Hannah could feast on her newly-obtained prey without disruption.
Fortunately, she wasn't aware of your presence at the moment.
At least she granted Ashley a quick demise, but you wish it didn't have to come to this.
Because both of them used to be your friends..
Somehow, the wendigo's curse had all but corrupted your humane side. While the hunger was constantly present, and you could no longer speak like a normal person...you refused to kill any of the group members who returned to the lodge. Instead you've been observing them quietly, with none of them ever noticing.
You don't know why they came back to these mountains; this horrible place where Hannah and Beth met their fates that cold winter night.
Part of you recalls chasing after them through the blinding snow, only to become horribly lost and unable to find your way back. Not to mention something was stalking you, pushing you further into the surrounding woods. At the time you were certain it was a wolf, but now you knew it very much wasn't.
Then you remember nearly starving to death, eventually coming across the flesh of something--or rather someone. You didn't know who it belonged to, but you found yourself craving more and more until there was nothing but bones left.
Next thing you knew, you've become this horrible beast. A violent creature of the cold who only knew hunger, becoming acquainted with the ones who met similar fates in a mining incident ages ago.
But unlike them (and Hannah, who ended up being possessed by the dominant wendigo spirit), you tried to sustain your endless appetite through raw animal meat, opting to hunt the local deer. If you felt like eating a small snack, you'd find a squirrel or bird instead.
The curse didn't keep a strong hold on you, which is why you're able to lurk around your old group of friends with easy restraint, unwilling to hurt any of them.
They must have known you went missing, too, but obviously couldn't recognize you nor Hannah anymore. To them, you were just monsters who struck when they least expected it, moving at inhumane speeds and manipulating them in horrible ways to make them your prey.
One such example was Hannah imitating Jessica's voice, which Ashley unfortunately fell for. And now she was doing it again to lure somebody else.
Dropping down from the ceiling, you wandered over to the cellar to shut her up for good....when something soft brushed against your foot, making you look down in curiosity.
And you froze.
It was Ashley's red and pink beanie, stained in blood.
Fresh blood...human blood-
'No...I can't..' Hissing, you looked the other way, but your pale eyes eventually wandered back to the hat. The urge had passed, thank goodness, allowing you to crouch down and pick it up.
Aside from blood's stickiness, you could also feel its softness between your long claws, a hazy yet fond memory coming to the forefront of your mind:
A small birthday party, with you, Ashley, Chris, and the others hanging out at the lodge--where you gifted her this exact beanie.
She always whined about her ears getting cold, and after you shopped around the mall, you found it for her, seeing that it practically had her name written all over it. And sure enough, she loved it to death, wearing all the time during the cold season.
You'd never expect it to come back into your possession like this.
Now it was nothing more than something to remember her by, as she was gone forever.
'I'm sorry, Ash...' You clutched the beanie with remorse, wondering what to do next-
"I'm coming, hold on! I'm coming."
Hearing the voice of Chris, you dropped it out of instinct and darted back into the shadows, realizing he was the one unknowingly answering Hannah's call.
That's right.
You forgot all about him.
You had nowhere else to go, and you didn't want him getting the wrong idea, so you stayed as quiet as possible.
Through thermal vision, you saw his form limping into the small room, possibly looking for his friend--or rather his crush.
You faintly remember all the years you, Sam, and Josh spent teasing Chris over it, wondering when he'll finally grow a pair and ask Ashley out. The three of you were certain it'll come any day, but every time he tried going for it...he chickened out again and again.
Yet tonight's events seemed to have brought them closer together....as you could see the look of devastation that crossed the blond's face the moment he recognized the beanie on the ground.
A shaky gasp escaped him, further constraining your heart with guilt as he broke right there and then, kneeling down.
"O-Oh no..oh my god!" He began to sob, picking up the beanie with a trembling hand. "Oh my god, Ash!! No, no, this can't be real! This can't be real!!"
The flashlight accidentally slipped from his other hand, which rolled to reveal your hiding spot, and you instinctively hissed at the brightness that blinded you.
It was brief, but enough to expose your presence to Chris, who gawked in terror upon seeing you and grabbed the flashlight, keeping it on you as he scrambled to his feet. "Holy fuck--y-you....WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?!!" He screamed with such anger, tears streaking his face.
God, he wishes he still had that shotgun.
He thought he was a goner the moment he saw you, but strangely enough..you didn't immediately leap at him.
You didn't seem to be hungry for his flesh.
The only thing you did was....stare. And not with anticipation. You were just trying to figure out how to tell him that you didn't murder Ashley, even though it looks very obvious.
The longer he stared back at you, fear seizing all of his nerves, the more he began to recognize the clothes you had worn exactly one year prior, now stretched and tattered. Even that silly friendship bracelet you, Ashley, and him wore in freshman year was somehow still on your thin wrist.
'Wait, don't tell me that's....'
"[Y/n]...?" Chris muttered, eyes widening when you responded with a small chirp, giving him the confirmation that it was indeed you.
As if this night couldn't get any worse..he realized you too were subjected to the wendigo's curse. All along, you've been in this mountain, eating and killing to survive, but unlike the one that killed the stranger...you weren't trying to harm him in any way.
You still knew who he was.
You didn't see him as prey, but as your friend.
"Th-This is insane..you...after all this time you were here..?"
Nodding solemnly, you wish you could give him a hug, but you're sure he wouldn't want that. Not after what he's seen.
"You're not gonna eat me, right?" He cautiously asked. "I-I mean. If you're still..uh..you..there's no way you could have killed Ash.."
You shook your head, once again confirming he was correct. With a huff, you glanced at the bloody trail leading down into the cellar door, relieved that Hannah was quiet, but after hearing another choked sob come from Chris, you saw his knees give out.
The realization that he lost his three best friends in different ways hit him like a truck. "I-I'm so so sorry, [y/n]...it's...i-it's been a fucking nightmare. First..Josh lost his head and tricked me into thinking I murdered him, t-then Ashley's gone..and...and now you're a.....oh god! I'm so sorry...w-we...we tried to find you, I swear..."
You tried finding your voice, but all that came out was an odd scratchy sound, which did nothing to comfort the crying blond in front of you, torn by pain and exhaustion and betrayal.
This wasn't the kind of reunion you wanted.
It should have been in the lodge, surrounded by the fire's warmth and your closest friends..not in the bowels of these cold mines where you couldn't even console one who was grieving.
You don't know what Josh did to Chris, but it must have been bad enough to traumatize him-
"Chris!"
Blinking through tears, he snapped his head up, looking to the trapdoor. "A-Ashley? Is that you?!" His voice trembled.
"In here! Help!!" The voice cried out.
"You hear her?! She's alive!" Chris got up, but before he could take even a single step towards the cellar, you pounced on top of it. Least to say, he was bewildered by your actions. "Huh?! What are you doing?!"
'Saving you, idiot..' You thought, growling lowly. 'Of course Hannah would do this now...'
"[Y/n]. You need to move! She's trapped down there!" He tried getting closer, annoyed that you weren't budging. But as you snarled a second time, he flinched back in fear. "Th-That's not cool, dude.."
While you admired his initial bravery, he was quick to cower away as you just stared at him, unwilling to let him open the door and meet the same demise as her.
"I-I don't understand. She was literally JUST calling for help-!"
"Not her."
Chris went completely silent, his jaw dropping he heard you imitating his own voice, your mouth moving like a normal human being's. "Did...Did you just...?"
"Not her." You repeated firmly, hoping he'd finally get the hint.
"....s-so..wait, wait, wait.....you can mimic our voices now?!"
"Always have."
"...damn, that's...insane." He muttered, wondering why the stranger never mentioned that somewhat important detail. "But..that means...she's really gone."
You regrettably nodded, watching his shoulders slump. "I..I-I shouldn't have fallen behind. I should have stayed with her. I...I-I never even got to tell her...." But he stopped himself, looking at you with such defeat and hopelessness. "I don't know if I can do this anymore, [y/n]. How can I go on without-?"
"Live for her." You spoke in his voice once more.
While you hated using mimicry, it was the only way that whatever remained of your humanity could still get through to Chris--letting him know that despite all appearances..you weren't totally gone.
You wanted him to leave this cursed place alive.
Ashley would have wanted him to.
"S-Sounds like I'm giving myself a pep talk. But...alright." With a barely audible chuckle, Chris wiped at his tears, deciding to put the beanie in his pocket. "I'll live for her....and for you, too. Don't think I'll ever forget about you, pal. Thanks for saving my neck."
Although you couldn't smile, he could see your attempts to form one and was a bit amused.
As he started heading out of the small cavern to rejoin the group, you decided to follow him closely, certain that some other wendigo was waiting to pounce on him.
Fortunately, you didn't sense any nearby. They must have thought you were tracking him as your prey.
A lot of them were smart, but not even Hannah caught wind that you never intended to eat him or any of your friends.
Even though you failed to protect Ashley, and you couldn't let the others see you, you'll do your best to ensure they all lived to see the sun rise.
Especially Chris.

NOTES FROM THE HATCHETFIELD HALLOWEEN PARTY 14th October 2023, 01:00 BST (my time!) / 13th October 2023, 17:00 PDT (their time!)
Note: These notes are at times a little nonsensical and useless and just quotes. This is because it lasted from 01:00-04:00 for me meaning I was incredibly tired. Please bear with <3
Section 1: Nerdy Prudes Must Die talkback
Started with chiptune of Feast or Famine and then chiptune of Jane’s A Car
Steph’s dad may be dead but at least she has a boyfriend <3
Joey was eating beef and potato stew for most of the first segment
When Jeff was asked for the inspiration for The Summoning: “[…] I don’t know. That just popped in my head. It could be true.”  (His answer was Wizard of Oz.)
Section 2: Hatchet Town Trivia Challenge
I tried to keep track of “chat vs cast” points but lost count and failed rather miserably
Nora’s last name is Beanie. Nora Beanie
Jeff is “an avid lover of baby-water” (water pure enough for babies to drink) and “widely known as Doctor Spreadsheets” (my notes just say “baseball game”)
Every time the world destroys, Ted dies twice: once as Ted, once as homeless guy
Lex helped deliver Hannah by teleporting her out of the womb through the Black and White
Greenpeace Girl’s name is Harmony Jones!
Wilbur Cross murdered Duke Senior (Duke Keane’s dad) this may be explored in future.
Section 3: Workin’ Boys
All of my “notes” here are just gushing about the characters. I have written nothing useful enough to be put here
Section 4: Workin’ Boys talkback
Chad was not included in WB because it was deemed that nobody could live up to the legend. This spawned the “Darren 4 Chad” movement in chat
The Workin’ Boys album will be out around next week if all goes to plan. It is 5 tracks and would include Mariah’s version of the Show Stoppin’ Number monologue as well as at least some of her singing it (as seen in the show; hoping for a full version!!)
Mariah’s character in the audience was called Woman.
Lauren’s character in the audience was Courtney, Thrash’s girlfriend from Killer Track
Paul Gabriel’s character was Paul Gabriel
Linda Monroe auditioned for Workin’ Girls and was the only one who didn’t get a part (Ruth was chosen over her). This is why she was happy to see it crash and burn
The programmes made for Workin’ Girls had very detailed bios, which hopefully when in full quality will be readable when paused. This may set up the potential for the Workin’ Girls actresses to be in future HF projects where this can be explored
Jaime will hopefully be in the next Starkid musical!!!!
The Black Book was originally supposed to debut in Workin’ Boys, in its original form in 2020
The 2020 version was planned as a feature-length film but eventually it was decided that it was confusing and remodelled.
The Summoning was supposed to be in Workin’ Boys – the producer would have tricked Hidgens into making the girls perform a ritual; it was realised that this didn’t make much sense so the song was transferred to NPMD
Section 5: The Future Of Hatchetfield
Hatchetfield was supposed to be finished by 2020
Starkid is not going to be exclusively Hatchetfield in the future; their next full-length musical will not be Hatchetfield
NMT3 is hopefully going to happen provided there is enough interest! It was supposed to happen in the same year as NMT2 but they take a long time to write (much longer than a full musical) so that couldn’t happen
NMT3 would conclude Lex and Hannah’s story after Yellow Jacket
It would be produced more face to face like a TV show – Nick said “less Zoom call-y”
It would include stories withheld from NMT1 and NMT2
It would entirely depend on how much interest, particularly views on NMT2.
It would be Halloween themed.
“More things akin to Workin’ Boys would be nice” - Nick
The episodes would be:
Bottle Imps
“Bill Woodward has been chosen to test CCRP’s latest and greatest product: Bottle Imps. These reality-bending buddies will bring their owner the one thing they desire most. When his new imp, Lovely, leads him to his soulmate, Bill decides to use his magical companion to play matchmaker. But to help Charlotte find the man of her dreams, Bill will have to bend the Imp’s rules. Rules he’s been warned, must never be broken…”
Frankenruth
“Desperate to see a naked body, Ruth Fleming and Richie Lipschitz volunteer at the morgue of St. Damian’s Hospital. Their terrible plan becomes exponentially more terrible, when they become unwitting subjects in the experiments of the body-snatching madman, Doctor Lazlo, who claims to have conquered death itself. If Hatchetfield thought Ruth was bad before, then they will cower before the unspeakable horror of… Frankenruth!”
Becky Barnes Climbed A Tree
“Becky Barnes is on top of the world! Not in a literal sense, of course. She’s deathly afraid of heights. After years of struggle, Becky’s life is finally everything she dreamed it would be. She’s engaged to her High School sweetheart, Tom Houston, and the two have a surprise baby on the way! But as the couple prepared for the arrival of Baby Marie, a shadow from Becky’s past returns to haunt them.”
Devil’s Night
“Tim Houston has a crush. Unfortunately, it’s on his older, mature, and totally cool babysitter, Grace Chasity, who he fears will never see him as anything but a snot-nosed little kid. But when a devilish maniac with murderous designs on Grace attacks Hatchetfield the night before Halloween, Tim must protect his beloved, or join the killer’s growing body count. It’s another slashing adventure on the night HE came home… Devil’s Night.”
Miss Holloween
“It’s Halloween in Hatchetfield once again, and Miss Holloway is celebrating the same way she’s done for decades, staving off the horrors that go bump in the night. But when Duke gives her an invitation to his wedding, the dejected Miss Holloway begins to chafe under the terms of a contract forged many years ago. She strikes a new bargain, but unfortunately her creditors are known for their tricks, not treats. Just as Miss Holloway gives up her powers in exchange for a mortal life, a monstrous new threat rears its ugly head. As All Hallows Eve descends, and all Hell breaks loose, Miss Holloway must save the town or die trying… for real this time.”
Orbweaver
“Lex Foster had a life once. A home. A boyfriend. Now there is only the road, and her sister, and the fear of the men who are hunting them. As Hannah Foster watches Lex sink deeper into despair, she is certain of only three things: Webby is gone. She cannot help them. They are alone. Elsewhere, an old soldier awakens from a catatonic state. Returned from some unimaginable Hell with a mission. He knows that somewhere two magical girls require immediate evac… then maybe some coffee.”
As NPMD was conceived of first, it was supposed to be a Nerdy Prudes series: Nerdy Prudes Must Die, Horny Campers Must Die… (this was turned into NMT2’s Abstinence Camp)
The next Hatchetfield full-length musical would probably be about Miss Holloway if there was enough interest.
There is the possibility of a full movie set in Hatchetfield if there is enough interest. (Workin’ Boys was like a trial for how Hatchetfield works in film)
It would be called Cast Party Massacre
“The Hatchetfield Community Players. You will never find a cattier troupe of two-faced thespians. But when the blood begins to flow at their latest show’s cast party, they must consider: is there a secret murderer in their midst? And more importantly, who amongst them is a good enough actor to pull off such a performance? Can they set aside their petty squabbles and tangled romances, or is it curtains for this ensemble? Who will survive… the Cast Party Massacre!”
It would possibly feature the girls from Workin’ Boys.
The licencing rights to TGWDLM will be available soon!

a crack taken seriously fanfic idea:
all the jocks get their own separate weird redemption arcs that never seem to intersect despite how close everything is to each other... until a giant cliche climatic moment like all of them working together to help richie after his attack or something. it causes the friend groups to merge and become one giant battalion against the lords of black.
brenda gets hers by working with holloway and somehow everytime she's relearning morals or subconsiously using magic, none of them went to visit her despite the fact that the diner would probably be pretty fucking popular bc it's good food and unlike pasqualli's, it doesn't have a reputation for giving or getting head if you take someone there.
kyle gets his by hanging out with tom houston and despite the fact that the shop room is the quietest during lunch, nobody ever comes to hangout or talk to mr. houston about a project or grading when he's in the room other than hannah who could also slightly feed into kyle's redemption
jason gets his with an internship at ccrp and getting parented by most of the team (bill is an actual dad, ted is highkey an obnoxious uncle, paul is known to babysit, charlotte is pretty caring, and sylvia seems pretty cool). this one is the one where it's cracky but slightly serious in the way where he slowly starts dropping football but still manages to bro up. there could be a bit of foreshadowing with a bromance break up and get back together because of how jason enjoys his internship more. bonus points if he somehow becomes bros with any of the other nerds in the meantime because of the internship.
stacy gets her through working with beanie's for a short stint of cash and getting a better-ish role model from emma (my god do i love a jaded adult with a better heart than they think getting thrown at a immature, naive, popular kid who believes in something extremely toxic. it is such a rare trope but i love it). despite beanie's popularity, stacy has somehow gotten the hours where the popular kids are held up by things and most of the nerds have hurried out of school.
i want either stacy's or kyle's to be the most wacky of the other jocks not noticing their morals getting better just because kyle's takes place in a room that i assume would be close to the field and mr. houston is dope to hang out with while stacy's change would be the funniest to ignore since it would be the biggest by getting rid of her superficiality, allowing her to have depth, and learning to study more
if we were going to include max in this, i'd hand him off to the nerds, but i think it's crackier that he's still an antag and we turn the langs' play on cheesy 80s movies' cliches where the nerds continue to get beaten down until one takes rule of the school by beating the other jock into submission and the other gets the girl into a play on cringy 2000s movies' cliches where the jocks and nerds have to team up against a common enemy, an even worse and meaner jock, and realize that they're more alike than they think. (grace being crazier than max would be a hard thing to slot into the plot in this case... could be either she doesn't go crazy and get corrupted by the black book or a double play on things, that even if the nerds became cool like the 2000s movies would make them to be in the ending, the hierarchy would still be just as bad)
