I am JOHN PAUL TOGADO, a self-proclaimed writer and a blogger. My advocacy is bigger than I could have ever imagined. Depression and other mental illnesses are one of the most pressing contemporary problems in our society. They’re unending, but can be treated with the right person, time, and vicinity. Just like what Tony Robbins once said, “there is no breakthrough without a breakdown.” Regardless of one’s social status, color, and race, everyone is welcome in my blog. I created this blog to write my stories and people can write theirs’ as well.

So proud of my #Mama who went this morning and #voted today is the first day in #florida to #vote for the #midterms . There was a hiccup as the voting location did not provide her with a Spanish speaking ballot as required by law. However, seeing as we anticipated issues, she was already prepared ahead of time with the sample ballot and knew how she was going to vote. Depression is a disease that is difficult to fight, especially when you feel like you're doing it alone. I'm posting this on behalf of myself, and all others who suffer from near crippling depression more days than anyone would like to admit. I've been fighting what seems lik a losing battle for 15 years and it hasn't gotten any easier. If someone you know is stricken with this sickness, be the friend you would want. Encourage positivity, but approach with sensitivity and understanding. This is not something that one can just shake off. Before you say something, stop and think: Is what I have to say kind? Is it helpful or hurtful? Though you may not understand, or have the ability to empathize with a depressed soul, the feelings we feel are real, and if not treated with care can take turns for the worse. Be sure to hug your loved ones often.
