so, i signed up for the dracula daily emails and i thought it might be fun to jot down my thoughts as i make my way through the story for the first time.

i feel like while both moms, childe's and diluc/kaeyas are staying with their sons because despite everything they have that motherly unconditional love for them

childe and his mamas relationship is a bit based on fear too. since lets be real that man is terrifying thus why theres more escape attempts and tries to persuade him not to fuck her like 4 times a day (he's also home less often)

on the other hand diluc and kaeyas mama is pretty much stuck with either one of her boys 24/7

so its like constant manipulation and gaslighting on their part. unlike childe they didn't kill their dad either (or they did and faked the incident but still mom believes crepus died by the dragon) so she has a little bit less resentment towards them

not only is mom stuck with one of them at all times but also probably locked in the winery with the employees bribed to not let her out. So mamas getting fucked like 12 times a day, might not even leave the bed on some days

Oh yes, that unconditional motherly love is such a captivating concept to deal with in fiction, it's an all-powerful force and causes so much internal conflict. You can't even bring yourself to accept help because despite everything they've done, you don't want him to get hurt.

But also, can you blame Kaeya and Diluc for being vigilant? I mean if mom has recently tried to leave the winery and sneak out for a while like she does, it's not like they can just leave her alone!

Bc she definitely would. Like, they can't be there all the time, they're both very busy men! Some days Diluc has to go to meetings with business partners while Kaeya's still working, so mom is left alone... It's nice, really, alone time is something she gets very little of, time to herself to do whatever she wants! Maybe once a week or so it works out like that and she gets maybe a 9-5 workday to herself, or maybe just a few hours. Of course, the staff still watch her closely, come by to check on her every now and then.

And she makes the most of it, taking the time to catch up on much needed sleep without being groped, take nice long warm baths by herself that don't involve getting bent over the side of the tub or pulled into a lap and fucked in the water. It's heavenly.

But after a while she starts thinking... Wouldn't it be nice to spend that time... Outside? In town? It's been so so so long since she actually went to the actual city of Mondstadt. She misses it, the liveliness and all, you know? And she knows the layout of the estate better than even the employees, including little niches and doors and windows and the like they may not know about... Besides, she's allowed to roam the vineyards a bit, so if staff see her they'll think she's just on a walk, keep a close eye on her as instructed and... She disappeared... Oh no.

So mom finally gets her nice little stroll through the city... It's so good to be around, you know, normal sane people. It feels warm and exciting and real, like she's spent the past few months in a fog, a dream-like haze, a monotonous existence that all blends together and blurs and feels like a bad dream. It's like waking up, feeling energy and liveliness, pulled out of a haze to full clarity and awareness. That is, it makes her realize just how far gone she was, how her mind had begun to deteriorate, and that's... A little frightening.

Which justifies doing it again and again, taking little walks through the city, of course keeping a sharp eye out and being very, very cautious. Still, it's so fun, so enjoyable, brings her happiness.

And it makes her a little more... Spirited. To her sons it seems almost like... Regression. Odd, because it seemed like she was making progress, being so good, but now she's started talking back and giving an attitude every now and then, getting huffy and upset when things don't go her way rather than bowing her head and doing what she's told. She seems a little more energetic. It's odd, but they don't know exactly what could be causing this... But they also start to notice other things. One could swear mom almost smells like... Well, city smells. Smoke and savory scents that come out of restaurants, the earthy smell of stone walls and pavement, or like fresh, outside air. And she has a grass stain on her shoes... Why is she wearing shoes anyway? They normally just sit unused in an old closet... But she forgets to put them back and leaves them right outside the door.

Realistically, it's only a matter of time before it catches up to her. Maybe one returns home early and can't find mom, only for her to come sneaking back through the door while they're panicking. Or, even worse, running into one of them while in the city, leaving her wide eyed in horror and stumbling over her words. Worst of all, one of the winery staff notices her absence and reports it, leading them to set up a fake-out and pretend to leave, wait outside the door for her to come right out and freeze up when she realizes she's fucked up.

They'll definitely put two and two together and figure out that she's been doing this for a while, which just makes things worse since, in her panic, she definitely lies and pretends this was the only time.

She's watched like a hawk after that, they keep an eye out for her in the city, and undoubtedly catch her in the act of trying to sneak out, and that never goes over well. Leads to her getting chained up to the bed where she belongs.

Life is not daijoubu. Motherhood is a struggle, for some of us more than others.

Summed up gender study of Howl's Moving Castle:

1) The movies places the female characters in positions of power, usually held by male characters

The female characters have financial independency (sophie has her own shop, which she, as the eldest, INHERITED FROM HER FATHER - something that usualy only men are allowed to). + while everyone is fantasizing over howl, she merely glances at the castle and focuses on her work

her sister works as well and is the one emcouraging her to keep her emotional independency, for howl is rumoured to stealhearts (aka ruin women). She encourages her to follow her own dreams as well, instead of only perpetuating a man's (their father's) dream.

another female character with a "man's" work is sulliman. She is the Mentor figure of the ML, AND the right hand man of the king, giving kore orders than him too. HER will rules that of two of the strongest male characters in that world. Even at the end of the movie when she learns through the dog what hapoened, SHE is the one calling the ear ofd. Not the king. Sulliman. MOREOVER she is the figure of a Cardinal: red dress, scepter, a choir of young, blond boys dressed in white under her order/training??? Absolute Father Figure in catholicism.

the witch of waster may not have political power but she is FAR from being powerless. She is SO STRONG AND INDEPENDANT that Sullivan herself felt the need to take her powers away. And while she is the stereotype of the evil witch, she is also its opposite: she is based on a MALE evilness. She is greedy, not just for authority or power but for men, whom she wants to OWN and DEVOUR. This reminds us more of the WOLF in kids' stories than of the evil witch.

Final argument for this part: can't talk abt the evil witch without the stereotyoe of the White Knight in his shining armor... Who is, in NO WAY, Howl. Sophie is the knight. Sophie, supposedly the damsel in distress (cursed by the jealous evil witch, needing help, seemjngly powerless), is the one who will be taking the decisions throighout the movie. She decides on where to go, what to do, what to clean and eat and wash and wear. She goes off to face sulliman while howl hides same when she goes back into the darkness and the apst. same when SHE sacrifices something to calcifer to keep everyone else safe. Plus: howl does NOT save her from the curse. she does that herself, by going through the quest she has been set on. Despite having no magic, she is the one who breaks one curse after the other, by understanding their root, and thanks to the sheer love (romantic or not) she is willing to give others while also taking on their burdens to help them get back up again.

2) The male characters tend to adopt "female" stereotypical behavior/roles, mostly by attempting to fit the image/role others give them

The king's palace is called KINGSbury. Literally he is a dead figure, a ghost at best, who isnt even NAMED in the movie.

The young boys are all shaped the same way. Kinda like choir boys, like a male presenting barbie. Gotta be cute and small and wear white and pure and innocent and blond and smiling 24/7. The ONE boy we see who is an adult is the one escorting Sophie's mom after her betrayal, and he too, looks similar to those boys, with his jniform and blond air and fake smile. They are v similar to the wotch of waste's dark puppets: shaped similarly, made to obey, and produced easily enough to be replaced constantly.

Howl embodies "feminine" behaviors. A people pleaser, obsessed with beingoretty and perfect and matching exactly the way people expect to perceive him, giving his heart up bc it feels like a weakness/flaw, too sensitive to protect himself when troible arise, trying to appeal to older women even if they scare him (witch of waste)

Sophie cant understand this obsession with beauty bc she never matched those characteristics... Jnlike her sister. Blond. dressed in pink. Like the other girls in the background. Like HOWL.

By constantly attempting to reach the older women's expectations, he becomes more and more monstruous, losing himself throughout the years (the same way girls are encouraged their whole life to appeal and please older men till they forget their own desires/wishes, before being blamed for it amd the superficiality of it all)

Final point: marco. The lil boy tries SO. HARD. to be the "man of the house". To compensate for the male presence he is told lacks in his house, and to grow into a "strong man" like society expects him to. He looks like the stereotype of the youngest son having to be the man of the house when the father is gone, even though he is a mere kid.

Howl's Moving Castle seen as a Road Movie (it is a very far fetched analysis):

The English translation of the title itself; Howl's Moving Castle. In French, "Ambulant" already made it clear that the castle is wandering around, butnot because it's trying to reach a destination. Having the verb to move in the English translation (closer to the original Japanese title) immediately gives the castle the image of a machine, rather than the personification of the castle implied by Ambulant, as used in the French title.

Howl's very name, for that matter, also starts the question of perception and perspective that is pregnant in this movie (mostly through his character). In English, to howl can be either a cry of pain or a loud laugh, it all depends on the context and the perception one has of it, a question of perspective. In Japanese, the name Howl used here is Hauru, which can be written with different sets of Kanji. What's interesting is that one of the ways it can be written is thanks to the Kanjis for "Motion" ("動") and "Castle" ("城"), making the very name of Hauru reflect the core point and thematic of the movie, as well as giving cue on his constantly fleeing behavior.

The Castle is shown right from the beginning of the movie, appearing as a fleeting, moving point on the horizon, vanishing from sight and into the fog. It never truly settles anywhere, roaming in what appears to be an aimless way.

Later on, we learn that it also gives the illusion of ubiquity. The front door opens to four different places at once, while never truly being in any of those places (as we see when soldiers try to break in and only find the building empty). It's, obviously, due to the fact that the Castle is constantly moving – it is perceived differently depending on who observes it, in a way that matches the reality they believe in. But in the end, the Castle is a mirage (made of fog instead of the heat in the desert) that cannot be reached nor grasped by any Man.

This capacity of ubiquity is linked to Howl himself; he is part of multiple military systems at once, working for everyone and no one at the same time. He seems to be a node in a centralized (or even decentralized) system, since he's a soldier receiving orders from the different higher-ups he works for.

However, his loyalty lies elsewhere – he works for both camps, and ends up receiving information from both sides of the war, like a node in a distributed system, which would always manage to get the information and act upon it even if one connection failed, since he can rely on another one.

This distributed system also serves well to explain the way the war works in this movie: soldiers, dehumanized and transformed into killing machines, are all nodes that shall accomplish the same goal. Were one of them to fail, it wouldn't matter, since another would take on the job. It's a type of network that differs from the wars that took place before the 20th century, a network that puts emphasis on how fast the enemy can be annihilated and on how it shall reshape the very topography of the land, smoothing it to dust. ((Something which is highly linked to the aftermath of WWII in Japan, after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, two points left on the map with the sole purpose of trying to push through the frontier of mass destruction weapons experienced so far. Neither cities were military bases nor strategic points to strike; the whole experience happened to show that those new weapons could strike faster and "better", getting closer to "perfection", as it showed that this weapon could clean a whole area of organic life with an unmatched speed.))

This question of perfection sought by the army makes even more sense when you try and study how they're trying to reach it. The soldiers – be it the black, slimy monsters, or the young boys shown at the palace – are all smoothed to perfection. The black slime soldiers are shown as mere puppets; they were deprived of their humanity (but not of their flesh) and smoothed to a shape that shows less resistance in terms of movements. They can sneak anywhere, at a faster pace, and are not restrained by their newfound form. Little by little, they're being completely assimilated to a form of weapon rather than to soldiers. They're a means to the end, that will show enough autonomy to accomplish its goals and orders.

In and out of itself, they are "perfect" soldiers because they became replaceable pawns on a (chess) grid; their identity doesn't matter, as what gives them sense is the speed at which they can strike and move. On the other side, we have the perfect soldiers who obey Suliman, the king's head sorceress. Those young boys were all smoothed to have the very same appearance ; looking like clones, dressed in white and obeying her the way faithful angels obey God (after all, angels are first and foremost soldiers).

Yet, one of those soldiers turned out different, more monstrous yet the one closest to that perfection that was sought after; Howl.

What makes him different from the other boys? His actual lack of heart. Where other boys raised by Suliman can only aspire to reach perfection/transfiguration, Howl can come even closer to it since he left what makes him human (the most central part of his organic being) behind.

Moreover, he gave his heart to Calcifer – a falling star. This character cannot NOT be compared to Lucifer, another light that fell from the sky, chased away from God's side the same way Man was from the Garden of Eden. Still, Lucifer was an Angel, a being of divine perfection. Here, Howl breaks free from his human condition (restraints) by giving his heart to Calcifer, while Calcifer becomes the core to his moving castle, a flame fueled by organic matter (the heart here being the main combustible of this source of light and movement).

This is also why, all throughout the movie, Howl is constantly seen as moving. He's wandering around, walking, entering and exiting places – but there's no destination in sight. He is moving around and when he does settle down for a while, it's in an ever-moving castle.

By the end of the movie, when Sophie gives him back his heart, Howl says that he feels heavier – by recovering his human heart, he's weighed down again, whereas Calcifer is freed from this burden and recovers his weightless characteristic, which allows him to turn back into a light free of any restraint, turning back into pure speed. Then, Howl does settle in one place with Sophie, but the Castle (not fueled/weighed down by his human heart anymore) keeps on moving and elevates. The frontier here was the land itself, it was stuck to the floor, but now that the machine is unburdened from its human flaw, it can move smoothly past this frontier and into the sky, where there is no resistance, no obstacle, no topography restraining its path.

Where Howl tends to embody (quite literally) the theme of space and movement, Sophie appears to make the link between space and time, as well as how it all depends on the perspective/perception you have of it.

Both Sophie and the Witch of Waste end up under the same curse: they will appear (be perceived as) their 'true' age. For the Witch of Waste, the curse literally breaks the illusion she had cast upon herself and reveals how old she actually is when she enters the King's castle. For Sophie it's more figurative; her actual appearance was the deceiving one ― she never behaved like a young, 18 year old lady, but as an old woman. The question of Time takes its full sense here, as time is a relative notion, bending to the way it is perceived and experienced by people.

Sophie's curse will come undone because she will be moving forward. Her Time starts moving again, like a clock's hand, even though it will reverse the toll her body had taken over the "years". By moving forward through Space (searching for the Moving Castle, walking all the way to the King's palace while Howl is fleeing it, etc.), her body moves backward in time.

It all comes even more obvious in one of the penultimate scenes of the movie, as she searches for Howl. On the threshold of a door that opens up to absolute darkness, with no horizon nor road in sight, Sophie finds the way by accepting that she has to keep on MOVING. She walks through the dark and, instead of a VANISHING POINT, she stumbles about a point of LIGHT. The sole action of moving, of pushing this frontier further and further away, made her move back in time and allowed her to find the root of both hers and Howl's curse. (Moreover, the fact that she falls back into darkness and appears back to her starting point makes it seem like she picked a path similar to a Möbius strip. Time is not a perfectly straight line punctuated by points, but a complex notion; to move/travel back in time, one would need to cross over the frontier of light speed – something Sophie managed to do in the darkest of places, as if walking through a black hole. After all, all lines and roads seem straight when you wander them, and appear distorted and curved once they're put into perspective).

Finally, the question of perspective/perception is stressed out thanks to Sophie, and to her relation to/with Howl. At first, she sees him the way he was made/raised to be seen (perfect soldier/beautiful angel). Then she understands, by pushing against his walls and carefully made barriers (frontiers), that he is far from perfect. What she learns is that he is obsessed with the idea of BEAUTY , which can only be linked to the notion of PERFECTION (for example when Sophie messes with his products and, therefore, messes with his perfect hair. after that scene, Howl gives up on his past haircut, and his black/raven hair reflects more who he is than the bleached, platinum hair he was forced to have before).

Every time she pushes the frontier further away, she discovers more about who Howl is, rather than who he is perceived as. He's a coward (constantly fleeing Suliman, the Witch of Waste, as well as his responsibility, which explains why he is constantly in motion) as well as a monster (he befell the sin of hubris, trying to reach divine perfection to the point of giving up his heart, yet it also deprived him from the light he carried, and is now cursed to take more and more the shape of the giant crow he shapeshifts into for battles; crows being birds that do NOT settle and are seen as messengers between worlds, moving with no restraints while still being related to symbols of doom).

Sophie, who moves forward in space and back in time, is the one capable of perceiving the truth of the reality (not only with Howl, she also sees through Suliman and the Witch of Waste) and the one capable of freeing them from the curses that made most characters unable to be seen for who they were, most of them having been condemned to hide behind fake appearances akin to mirages, in order to fit with the perfect truth required so far (or believed to be required), their humanity disappearing for the sake of smoothing the movement of the gears running this war-torn world.

I have a Double Degree in French Modern Literature & English literature (+ culture/some history, but mostly focused on the UK and US), as well as a Master Degree in Fiction (studied most of its forms + how it is produced in an industrial world like ours, through creative and more theoretical classes, though my focus was more on literature/tv shows/movies/video games) (*´▽`*)❀

About the fan fiction thing, well, I've had three thesis to write during my last 3 years of college?

1) A 25 pages only thesis where I attempted to understand how Fan Fiction might be a renewal of the XIXth's Roman Feuilleton (serial literature that appeared thanks to the industrialization and that was published weekly/monthly in popular journals, think of Dickens, Victor Hugo, etc)

2) A 50 pages only thesis about Fan Fiction as an obscure genre in the literary world, where I question not why or who creates fan fictions (something that has already been studied for 30 years) but HOW. Whichs means questions how people write? How do they select what to write about? How do so many communities can identify a fic's content in one glance through its tags, even when they are quite obscure? What about the story structures of fan fictions? Why the repetitiveness? For what purpose? So... Yeah. 50 pages of picking literary analysis techniques we already have to study fan fiction as a genre, the same way we do we literally any other genre, with one less theorical part by analysis an actual fan fiction

3) A 50 pages only thesis about a creative project + 50 pages of presemtation of the project itself. I am... A huge horror fan, ok? SO as a creator who also loves fantastic and fantasy I wondered about something. Would it be possible to create AND make last a possible world based/centered around the horror genre? You know how in fantasy you explore a world where EVERYTHING is a consequence of the magic/fantasy elements? Ehat if we did that with horror? Where EVERYTHING, at its core, is a product of the horror genre? Where everything, everyone, every element of the universe is out to get you ― how do you survive? CAN you do more than just survive in such a world? Can it expand and keep growing through fan headcanons and ideas and grow more and more, like fantasy's possible worlds do??

About Howl's Moving Castle!

During my 3rd year in university, I had a class about Gender Studies and we had to pick a Ghibli movie to study and analyze. I picked Howl's Moving Castle, and tried to explain how the movie reverses gender expectations through the use of stereotypical fairy tales tropes.

Then during my 5th year in university, I had a class on Road Movies. Don't ask me why but my high-off-of-allergy-meds ass had a weird af epiphany and picked this movie.

Arlo My Boy is up

1. Arlo is a quintuplet. he loves all of his brothers dearly but Bruno, the bull and the eldest technically, is his favorite mostly bc he was big enough that before they all died Arlo could lay on his back and ride around up there.

2. He's a mommy's boy, like Fully doesn't believe Rhiannon could do wrong and absolutely adores her. He is in complete denial that she, like his brothes, is dead.

3. Arlo was born from a vat of wizard blood his mom did not source ethically. He has no father.

4. Arlo is mostly incapable of change. He's a bit of spell work that happens to look like a person and is bound to the rules outlying his existence. So even being brutally murdered was not enough to cause an immediate change in him.

5. He doesn't really use pockets, they mess up the lines of his clothes. But when he does start venturing out again he usually has a lil battery operated DVD player and a rubiks cube on him.

6. Arlo doesn't really sleep or dream, he has dormant periods, but that's more like restarting a computer than it is a person sleeping.

7. prev point stands. He's been a recurring theme in other people's nightmares if that counts tho.

8. Yes, and it was an accident. One of the people who came to his hill had it on them, he investigated it and blew a small hole in his wall. The noise spooked him so bad that that gun was immediately erased from existence, as was every bullet and kill it ever had. Multiple people were, on complete accident, re alived with no awareness they had ever been dead bc he's a jumpy bitch.

9. His economic status growing up was "prince", his economic status now is "Deranged monster killing and ruining lives for his own amusement" so no I'd say it's basically the same.

10. Arlo does not understand the necessity for clothing outside of like, looking nice, staying warm or supporting the weight of his chest to help with back pain and excessive jiggle while exercising. so it is by the grace of the witch who's corpse he's possessing having had really good taste alone that he is not constantly pussy out.

11. Arlo can't feel fear.

12. can't really feel calm either.

13. nope, loves the stuff and used to decorate with it.

14. Names, faces change too much.

15. Not really, and mostly because it's just not in his programing for him to be able to care about Stuff.

20. Arlo doesn't compare himself to others. He believes himself to be so Perfect and higher than anyone else that it's like comparing a god to an orange. He does consider his brothers his equals though and would compare himself to them as like, a way to make sure he's keeping up and not disappointing their mom.

21. Nothing is Arlo's fault ever according to Arlo. If something bad happens to him it was because of other people and never his own actions.

22. Resolve, loyalty, Strong bond with their families, and not challenging him.

23. everything else. If you are not like a loyal family dog the he hates everything about you.

24. Arlo trusts no one besides his family. he is physically incapable of trusting anyone else.

25. He is suspicious of everyone and is convinced that anyone he is not related to is out to get him. Paranoid little goat.

26. Arlo Adores kids. He has no idea they grow up. and genuinely believes them to be like, weird pets.

27. Disgustingly gorey curses. He shan't be confronted nor shall he deal with the concerns of others.

29. He just wanted to be happy with his brothers and mother. like, he didn't dream for anything he didn't have because he was made to be happy in that scenario.

Spit the beans!". She was referring to the meeting with The Professor, which had just ended a few minutes ago.

"Hell no! I'm starving, thanks to you! As far as I can recall, you did say you were going stop by the infirmary to bring me my breakfast, but you never came". Warren said resentfully. "Oh! Forgive me for trying to give you some privacy! I DID go over! but when I realized you were having a blast with "ms. mystery", I left!." Warren's mouth turned into a big "O" surprised by the girl's comment. "Shit, sorry I'm an ass. I should have known better than t-". Although Warren was showing great remorse for his actions, Ororo, on the other hand, seemed unbothered as he had cut his ramblings off. "Whatever, man. Listen up! Why don't I fix you something to eat in the kitchen while you tell me everything that happened, and not just with Charles". Her big brown eyes were beaming at him with mischief. After all, it wasn't likely of him to speak more than five consecutive words with strangers.

"Fine by me". The blond said, already walking to the kitchen. "Oh, by the way, her name is Y/N". He informed with a small smile creeping on his lips.

"For real?" You said in amazement as the man with glasses who went by the name of Hank explained to you some medical facts about your mutation you've been oblivious to your entire life. "Are you telling me my hydrokinesis has been the reason behind why I'm always cold?". Your face in awe had made the man chuckle. "Indeed, Y/N. Your connection with water goes beyond expected. Your body temperature resembles the ocean's, which means, unlike the rest of us who have an average temperature of 35.5 C° to 37 C°. Yours can go as low as -2 C° with its highest in 35 C° ". You turned to your left side, inspecting the monitor showing your vitals, where you read the big bright numbers. "So, does 20 C° mean... ". "Just fine". The doctor said.

"No need to remind you about staying clear from desserts or, you know, fires". "Damn it, just when I was considering moving to Egipt". You had meant for the man to laugh at your joke. Instead, he shot you a disapproving look. "I'm serious, Y/N. You could die. The body can endure temperatures up to 50 C° before death, but you, anywhere up to 39 C° can be fatal".

Those last words were bringing back the multiple times you'd fainted without any apparent reason. Even during a spring day back in your natal Arizona, you could end up in E.R. The doctors had always told your mother it was a heatstroke, yet it never made sense. Yes, it was warm but not blazingly hot like it should have to suffer one. To your mom, you were only doing it for the attention. And after moving to Washington, when you were 5, the faintings stopped, making her believe more in her assumptions.

It also made you remember those winter days when you were little, where all your friends would be covered head to toe with fuzzy clothing whilst you had nothing more than some jeans and a crewneck. People always believed your mother had sucked at parenting for leaving you so exposed to the weather, but for the first time, they were wrong. Yes, she sucked at being a mother, but at least this time, what seemed to be a lack of caring coming from her was just you not being affected by the freezing air like everyone else.

You were about to ask furthermore questions the tall man with the glasses he could perhaps be able to answer when a bald man in his late forties wheeled in. "How is our patient doing, Hank?". He asked. "Better than expected, Charles. Although I would suggest staying in here for observation another 24 hours, just to be sure". Hank replied, straightening his posture as the older man came further inside the room. But why? Just as you were seeking an answer, he spoke. "Because I am the headmaster, young lady. Charles Xavier, at your service". What the actual fuck, how could he have- "Telepathy, that is how, dear". A foreign voice explained inside your mind as the bald man stared at you with knowing eyes. "Please, don't do that ever again! Not without a heads-up at least!". You yelled fearfully. The idea of having somebody else inside your head unexpectedly had to be the scariest thing you could think of, and after having seen your frightened self, the man spoke ordinarily once again.

"Certainly! But, before we continue, how should I call you, dear?". The man, Charles, asked you with a tender voice. " Y/N".

"Very well, Y/N. Now, has Hank told you anything about what we do in here?". "Not much. That this is kinda like a boarding school but for weirdos like us and that some are of you like to run around the city wearing matching bodysuits playing heroes". You said while sitting down crisscrossed on the medical bed. "Well, you are not so wrong, but we are more than that". With that, the conversation about a brighter future for you began.

You had been brought to Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters by luck, without any clue of what could be there to come for you. When you woke up, you'd thought for that place to be nothing but a fancy hospital and nothing else. Now, after your interaction with the headmaster, you were left with a lingering feeling of something you had never experienced before, hope.

Hope for a future away from the streets you've called home for almost a decade. A possibility to become someone you could be proud of being. To form bonds that could last more than a weak or two. Most importantly, the chance of not being so lonely anymore.

In conclusion, Charles Xavier gave you hope for making your wildest dream come true. Stay here, and you will live a normal life.

Both Charles and Hank left the infirmary wing for you to process the information at peace before accepting his offer of prolonging your stay. You'd been so concentrated thinking about all of it. You missed the moment your angel came in.

"By the expression on your face, I'm guessing Charles already asked you to stay in here". He spoke to you as he was reaching for the stool next to your side.

"How do you know that, Angel?". You asked, squinting your eyes in a questioning look.

"He told me after proposing to me the very same thing". Warren said.

"Well, are you?". You eagerly said.

"I don't know, are you?". If you were honest, everything about living at Xavier's sounded perfect to you. You would have accepted right away if it hadn't been for Charles himself who stopped you and made you think about it. After all, it was a 180° lifestyle change.

"Hell fucking yes! Why wouldn't I? It's not like you're allowed to live in a mansion every day" This was the answer which caused the mutant next to you to chuckle slightly. "Is that the only reason you're staying?". You would have said everything you'd been thinking about before warren showed up. Yet something in you told you. If you didn't, you could have plenty of time to do so.

"Not really, but if you decide to stay here, I might tell you all about them, Angel". You told Warren, who had now his eyes fixated on yours, those piercing blue eyes which seemed to be searching for something, what? You didn't know.

"Seems like we got a deal, Y/N".

After meeting through some mutual friends you fell in love with each other. Chris swore he would have married you after your first date. A ring came about a year and a half later, Chris not wanting to call you anything but his wife for any longer. One dream wedding and a month-long honeymoon around the world, you were Mrs. Y/N Evans.

The conversation about kids came fairly early in the relationship. Him coming from a big family, he wanted the same for himself. He wanted a big house in the Massachusetts suburbs, the white picket fence, a couple of dogs, and the kids. He wanted to come home from work being attacked by a couple of kids and seeing you walking towards him barefoot and pregnant.

You were an only child to divorced parents, growing up mostly on your own. You never saw yourself as a mom, but always loved the idea of running after a couple of kids. Never wanting to bring a child into the kind of world you grew up in. The sad and lonely kind of world you endured most of your life. After meeting his family after a couple of months of dating and seeing the way he interacted with his nieces and nephews, you couldn’t help but hope to see yourself raising some kids with him.

Chris couldn’t quite process the feelings he felt that night his son was born. He knew how much he loved you. You knew how much you loved him. But having this little person as a tangible expression of your love and commitment for each other was just beyond him. It was beyond anyone.

Grayson was just like his dad. Almost an exact copy of him if you were being honest. The same big blue eyes. The same soft brown hair. The same everything. Lisa often said how much Grayson was just like Chris was when he was a kid. There was little of you visible in him. Maybe he had the curve of your nose and the shape of your lips. But he was all Chris.

His little personality bubbling since day one. You couldn't have asked for a more perfect baby. He giggled as much as he could and played until he fell asleep with a toy in his hand. You were so lucky to have been gifted this little boy as your first baby. Chris had been struggling to balance work and his responsibility to you and Grayson but never failed to make sure you knew how loved you both were, even from thousands of miles apart.

Eleanor Olivia Evans

After another long labor, you welcomed a little girl into your new family of 4. A tiny little girl who, just like your boy once did, calmed themselves down at the sound of your heart and the warmth from your body. Chris once again sat there just absolutely beside himself at the sight of the love of his life with his little girl on your chest.

Introducing Eleanor, or Ellie, to Grayson was probably one of the greatest moments of your life. Chris walked in with Grayson in his arms telling him that we needed to use our indoor voices when talking to mommy and the baby. Grayson quickly climbed to sit right next to you, not bearing even 1 day away from you. You hugged your little boy and talked to him about meeting his sister. Grayson ran his little hands running along Eleanor’s cheeks as you sat there crying at the moment they were having with each other.

Now with a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old life couldn’t have been sweeter. You had hardly been working while pregnant with Ellie, still having to keep up with a rambunctious toddler. Before kids, you were doing some writing for all sorts of movies and TV shows. After kids, you took fewer jobs that require travel and stayed mostly local.

Chris not wanting to leave you at home with a toddler and a newborn had made sure his work kept him close or allowed you and the kids to go with him. You both wanted to make sure you were there when Grayson and Ellie needed you.

If Grayson was a mama’s boy, Ellie was 1000% a daddy’s girl. She refused to let Chris out of her sight if she could help it. She refused to sleep most nights without hearing the sound of her dad’s voice and would cry and cry if he didn’t sing her to sleep. When Chris was pulled away for a week for work you were losing your mind trying to get her to sleep.

After a mild breakdown, you gave in and called Chris knowing even hearing his voice over the phone would calm the baby down. He sat there on the phone and just talked to her. She fell asleep almost immediately and slept through most of the night. You thanked Chris and ended up asking him for voice recordings of him talking and singing so you could play them in case he was pulled away again.

Charlotte Rose Evans

Charlotte, or Charlie as she's been nicknamed by her siblings, came into the world with a crew waiting so patiently for her arrival. By far the most painful and complicated birth you have had, she had quite dramatically made her entrance into the Evans family.

You had been monitored closely the last couple of months of your pregnancy as Miss Charlie tried to make an appearance early. You had some complications about halfway through and your midwife had been worried about possible preterm labor. You had started to have what you knew were contractions at 30 weeks and were immediately rushed into the hospital to try and halt the contractions and luckily succeeding.

You were placed on strict bed rest for the remainder of your pregnancy, not even allowed to stand at the stove making dinner, only getting up to use the bathroom and move from the bed to the couch.

It didn’t make your life with an overactive 4 and 2-year-old easy at all. Chris stayed home 24/7 to take care of you and his mom and sisters rotating taking the time to stay with you to help with the kids.

When Charlie did make her debut both of you were as healthy as you could be. Once again, bringing Chris to tears as another baby made their way into your family. He didn’t know he was capable of loving this much. He thought he had reached capacity after Ellie but the love he had for you and his kids just kept growing as you kept adding on.

If Grayson was all Chris, Charlie was all you. Except for her blue eye, which you figured would be a pattern with your kids. She was a copy of you and Chris ate it up. Eleanor is a perfect combination of the two of you. You could see the traits of you as well as the traits of Chris throughout her. But Charlie was completely you.

Grayson fit right into his role as big brother and protector of the Evans girls. He made sure every night he said goodnight to his sisters and told them he loved them with a kiss on their foreheads.

Ellie was excited that she no longer had to share her dolls with Grayson and would finally have a girl to play with. Charlie looked up to her big sister, seeing her as the most amazing person she has ever met.

Grayson, however, felt like he needed another sibling, specifically a boy sibling, and constantly asked you for a brother. He said to you over and over again that his friends at school had brothers and he needed one so very bad. You and Chris had agreed to stop at 3 but had given into the idea of having 1 more to try and even out the numbers. With Grayson in 2nd grade, Ellie in kindergarten, and Charlie starting Pre-K soon, having another wouldn’t be impossible.

Declan Robert Evans

The 2nd boy and the 4th and final child Chris and Y/N had brought into their world. Another perfect mix of Chris and Y/N.

His birth being the last time you would be in the hospital having a baby made it just that more emotional. You soaked in the first moments of his life just a little bit more. Chris cried just a couple more tears, seeing that angel on your chest for the first time. You admired the father of your children just a little more seeing him introduce the addition to the family to your other kids. Adoring the look on Grayson’s face when you set Declan on his lap, finally meeting the little brother he’d been wanting. Asking you if he could take him to class to show off to all his friends.

Walking around your house Declan’s first day home was more emotional than you had thought it would be. You brought every single one of your babies right through your front door. You had pictures littered around the house of moments in your life you were lucky to have immortalized forever. Knowing you had started your family here made you love everything just that much more.

Declan now 5 years old, Charlotte 8 years old, Eleanor 10 years old and Grayson at 12 years old you couldn’t imagine life any differently. You and Chris celebrated 13 years of marriage and almost 15 years together surrounded by the physical representations of the love you two shared for each other was unexplainable.

You had slowly started to get back into the work you loved doing so much after Declan started school. You were able to work on projects offered to you with Chris and had become an unstoppable duo professionally and personally.

Even having the amazing opportunities to do something you loved to do, nothing would ever beat sitting around a table listening to your kids talk about everything and anything that came to mind. Listening to them talk about what happened at school or about upcoming events they want to participate in was the highlight of your day.

Grayson had been playing with a football the moment he could pick one up. Chris nearly cried when Grayson had approached you guys about doing little league football at the rec center. Chris had been watching Patriot's games with Grayson since the day he was born. Taking him to games with Scott whenever they had the chance. The love for football ran in his blood and when he found out he could play on a team he took the chance as soon as it presented himself.

Eleanor had found a love for music and performing, just like her dad. She had picked up music and singing at a very young age, which probably came from her dad's love of performing. You encouraged her to pursue her love for music by telling her stories of when her daddy was young and used to stand on stage before he started doing big movies. She loved looking at pictures and watching old videos of Chris performing in high school whenever she'd visit Grandma Lisa.

Charlotte had picked up your love of reading and writing as soon as she could. Her favorite day of the week is when her class gets to spend time at the library finding new things to read and learn about. So far a running theme with her is books about nature and animals. She loves sitting down with you in the afternoon and telling you about what she learned in the science portion of her day. She had learned about how plants and animals interact and how important they are for all humans. She told you that when she's big she wants to make sure no one ever hurts plants and animals since they are so important for us.

Declan hadn't quite developed a love for something like his siblings had. All he cares about right now is the kind of snacks his mom packs for him and superheroes. You and Chris had introduced him to the world of superheroes recently, knowing that being in school someone was bound to mention to him about seeing his dad on a movie they watched. He was obsessed with the fact that his dad was a superhero once upon a time. He loved watching Chris' movies and would always ask to watch them whenever Chris wasn't home.

You looked at Chris from across the table as Grayson talked to him about football tryouts and asking him if they could practice after dinner. He felt your eyes on him and looked at you with a smirk and a wink thrown at you before giving Grayson his attention again.

You sat back a little to look around at this family surrounding you, knowing there was nothing better than this.
